When you click on an image to describe it, do you know where the image description box goes?

That's right! ON TOP OF THE IMAGE, SO YOU CAN'T SEE IT.

I believe in modern science and the ability to make this window movable. Like, this is a known technological marvel, dragging windows to one side.

Could we please for the love of God have that? I can't speak for anyone else, but it would make actually using this accessibility feature a LOT easier, it's just good UI sense

TLDR: Please, reblog. It not only helps artists and creatives, it helps ensure the continuation of the user-controlled, non-algorithmic dashboard feed feature.

So, there is a recent post going around about how the poll feature really highlights the view/engagement/reblog disparity. And the OP makes a great point that on OTHER platforms, even 1/4 engagement per view would be extraordinarily high.

What that leaves out, though, and something I don’t see talked about as much in the reblog/like discussions, is that those other platforms rely completely on algorithms. Our beloved, only-show-what-others-reblog dashboard (arguably the best feature of this site) is reliant on reblogs to remain a viable feature. If people only like/vote on posts, “my dash is dead” phenomenon will increase and eventually result in no more Tumblr, only-show-what-others-reblog dash (you already see this in the increasing amount of “suggested”/algorithmic options on mobile).

So please, please, if you care about this last bastion of sequential feeds (and, of course(!) want to support artists, REBLOG POSTS.

I have news

My partner and I just broke up after nearly two years of dating. The long distance was getting too much. We’ve both been feeling it, but shit. It’s one of those ones that really suck ass because you both love each other a lot and want to be together, but the distance is just too much, it’s too hard.

With so much unsure right now, the distance just felt like voluntary torture.

You know, people say date your best friend… I dated both of mine, and now have broken up with both of them. I do not recommend, tbh.

I can’t believe one of the first things I did after breaking up was redownload this hellsite (*affectionate) to update you guys 😭 this truly is my safe space.

Anyway, to conclude, I’m never doing long distance again. That shit broke my heart. Twice.

Lastly, I’m deciding something and I don’t know if I’m being stupid. I kinda want to stay single for a long while now and hoe around a bit (after I get over this breakup). Is that stupid?

No, you know what? If you don’t have a single fucking thing on your entire blog, then I am going to block you, actually, even if you have gone to the effort of putting some kind of “I’m not a bot” note on it. I’m not going to report you as a bot, no, but I’m still blocking your ass.

Because tumblr is a participation website. We don’t have an algorithm (well I suppose we do, but it’s opt-out and everyone does). I love posts that start with someone sharing a random comment or opinion or joke, and are immediately followed by OP reblogging their own post with the kind of response that tells you - quite clearly and with no context needed - that whatever they said brought a highly unexpected audience to their post, and that the tags/comments/reblogs took them by complete fucking surprise.

These type of posts are a gem, and can often come in “This wasn’t what I expected but I love it”, “What the fuck is [x fandom]”, and “I forgot there are [x type of people] on this site” varieties.
