That's right y'all, after like 5+++ years of using the previous theme haha. Honestly, the old one was lovely and I really liked it, but after 5 years of Tumblr changes, it just wasn't keeping up with the times anymore. Therefore, I decided to make this new one while pretending that midterms and research responsibilities don't exist bc priorities  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The new layout also uses zero jQuery throughout the entire blog (yes, I redid the Isotope filtering to get rid of it too!) in an effort to reduce loading times.

Let me know if there are any bugs please!

Atlantis: The Lost Empire:

The whole movie is just top tier good shit. One of the top best underrated Disney movies with a great twist on who is bad. Ahead of its time. Plus Leonard Nimoy as the king???

I love the music, I love the adventure, and Helga Sinclair is an excellent villain. Not to mention such a strong cast.

Legitimately one of the most fascinatingly original animated films ever made, with not only a unique art style, but a cast of incredible and diverse characters all written with genuine heart and personality. I personally memorized what I call "Milo's Rant" for a drama monologue project in high school, and it still stands as one of my favorite scenes in ANY movie to this day.

The art style is amazing and it is one of my favorite stories. It was one of my favorite childhood movies and still is my favorite now. My favorite scene has to be the end fight scene in the volcano, though the "ENGLAND MUST NEVER MIX WITH FRANCE" line from Mole still makes me chuckle.

Megamind:

The memes on that guy! Also very likely one of Tumblr's most iconic movies. There's just great stuff in there and I want to rewatch the damn thing now.

The animation is great, the dialogue is INCREDIBLE, its an utterly fantastic deconstruction of the superhero genre, it is CRIMINALLY underrated, and i love it with every facet of my being (: Also my favorite scene is probably "PRESENTATION!!!" Seriously, i CANNOT overstate how awesome this scene is. Its perfect in SOOOOOO many ways!!!

An absolute delight of a film, Megamind is funny, subversive and incredibly emotionally resonant. Megamind is a very relatable protagonist and it might be one of the funniest movies I've ever watched. If you haven't seen it, you should.

Every scene is my favourite, it’s a masterpiece of humour and subversion and plot twists, 10-11 year old me didn’t watch it over 20 times in a row for nothing. I’ve had the opening quote written on my mirror since 2013.

PRESENTATION. it has a really good story, plot, characters, themes, and its really funny and i like it very much.

GUS HAS HOME LUNCH !??

Okay so actually I’ve noticed this for a while when rewatching labyrinth runners 20 times in a row for the anniversary of it airing.

But I finally decided to go and check to see if it’s a once off thing for the episode or something throughout the series.

And turns out all the way through s1 e3 to labyrinth runners Gus is shown to be having lunch from home !!

(Also this isn’t related to the canon-but i HC him as autistic and him bringing home lunch really adds to my headcanon because its common for autistic people to like routine. And bringing home lunch someone could have the same lunch every day and brings predictably. Especially since I’m both screen caps Gus is eating a sandwich which is nearly the same thing.)

Had another divorce hearing this morning (at this point, 3+ years into the damn process, I've had close to 20 hearings… which is just… yeah.)

The good ish news is, the ex didn't show up again. It's good because every time he does show up, I inevitably have nightmares after seeing his ugly (and abusive) mug. The bad news is, it's a cruel form of hope because it makes me think he won't show up the next time and then he does.

Today was my first time self representing and it gave me a ton of anxiety the past few days. Well, that and the whole fundraising efforts for April rent and bills. I haven't gotten much sleep, maybe a couple hours here and there.

It was a trial setting conference, basically a hearing to decide if the parties are ready or not for moving forward and it's the only reason I was even semi okay with self rep. I now need to work on finding a pro bono lawyer that's gonna help with the last (hopefully) bit of this cursed divorce… I'm not looking forward to that process because I have very little hope I'll find someone good. Not with the luck I've had.

However, it's a different judge than the one that was seemingly empathetic to the ex. It's also the one who will be making the final decision, which is set for September 6th. I have until mid August to file the last papers so there's still a few months of pro bono lawyer searching… Blegh.

The worst part about today was having to listen to other cases (as you do for these goddamn hearings). There was one that triggered me deeply and it made me angry that that person was verbal vomiting and being selfish. I know more than anyone else how frustrating it is but I also think it's selfish to subject other people to your traumas because YOU need to be heard, over what the judge was saying as well (that this is not the time and place).

So yeah. I'll be decompressing the rest of the day and doing nothing because, as usual, it was stupidly stressful.

Last but not least, thanks a ton to everyone for sharing the mutual aid post as well as friends who have sent funds. I appreciate y'all greatly and it's helping me hang on to what little sanity I have left.

first ship: I'm not sure how I got into shipping exactly, because by the time Merry/Pippin came along it was not new to me. I got frank vibe anal beads (i said vibe butt plug but close enough), donald being Luther's twin, and Johnny not being real. Pretty happy with those 3!

5. Most rewatched episode?

Inflates by like 2 rewatches. I rewatched inflates and Shoots over and over that first week back, i think i saw both at least 10 times that week but I watched Inflates like 3 times In a row one day and I can't remember why.

20. What elements of 16 do you hope they keep when writing 17?

I hope they keep up the sad lore drops that are a lil more explicit in the middle of a otherwise silly fun episode. I am Not a deep analysis guy so it's nice to just have it thrown in my face where it can't be ignored.

21. What elements of 16 do you hope they change when writing 17?

I don't have any critical thoughts about the writing esp season specific thing but I hope they change the pacing a bit the first few episodes felt rushed and like they didn't have enough time compared to earlier seasons where it would all tend to have a calm pace but come together at the end.

2013 Italian GP

Round 12!

There's drama at Ferrari. Alonso sarcastically called his engineers "geniuses" over the radio. Although some Italian speaking people are pretty sure he said (I quote because that's not a word I would use myself) "morons". Cue the rumours about him leaving Ferrari. 

Also, at Redbull, the team had to change both cars' gear boxes ahead of the race. No penalties, but it's always worrying. Oh come on, really? They're going to perform a 1'000km test in Barcelona for Pirelli. After what happened to Mercedes?! Apparently it's allowed because they're doing it with the 2011 car. Bullshit. And to add to that they're not only testing this year's tyre but also the 2014 one. That's just. Fucking ridiculous. 

There's also rumours that Brawn bought out Toto's share of Williams which wouldn't make much sense according to the journalists. Damon Hill asked Brawn about it who reportedly laughed and said that surely he could tell from that laugh that it was ridiculous. To which Hill answered he could in fact not because he's way too mysterious. 

Time for the quali report. Oh dear. Lewis was out in Q2. As were both Lotuses. Hulkenberg somehow made it to third on the grid. But it's a Redbull front row with Seb on pole. Nico is 6th behind Alonso, himself outqualified by Massa. Lewis is only 12th.

He still tells us about his lap, explaining why it didn't work.

He went wide actually, and damaged his floor and it fucked the car's balance. Then he got a chance for a second lap and had to slow down because Sutil was in the way. Lewis says he's listened to Sutil's radio and it was not his fault but the fault of the team not telling him Lewis was coming. 

Now they change the topic to do a masterclass on overtaking. First is a 2007 overtake over a Ferrari which I do remember from my rewatch actually. He says when he looks at the replay he still feels like he's not gonna make it but he did.

Then it's Seb from the outside over Alonso. Lewis says Alonso could have squeezed him out but he left him room.

Basically it shows how important it is to know who you're racing against.

Then it's a DRS overtake from Perez on Alonso and Lewis describes how fast you get with the DRS and how very little you can do to defend against that.

It's started to rain. 

There's a problem with Jenson's car, the floor is off. It's KERS-related. As they're leaving the garages, the rain is easing off. 

Formation lap. 

And they're racing! 

Good start for the two Redbulls but the two ferraris are just behind them swerving like agitated wasps. Seb locks up into turn 1! But he stays ahead, THERE'S BEEN CONTACT Webber is behind Alonso now many people cut the chicane. It's MESSY. Perez slows down. No wait, it's actually Massa in P2, not Alonso! Where's Lewis. Di Resta DNF. OOOH whoop Raikkonen, Lewis and Jenson are side-by-side in the straight but Lewis comes out ahead! He's in the points. Raikkonen pits ? Oh yeah he has front wing damage. The yellow flags keep flashing on and off lol I don't know what's happening. Alonso is attacking Webber. He overtakes him honestly quite impressively. Alonso overtakes Massa in an obviously too easy way. Lewis is closing on whoever is P9. It's JEV. He overtakes him but is overtaken right away. He's also under pressure from Jenson. Who overtakes him! Lewis is back in P11… well he's on hard tyres unlike all of them, he'll stay out longer but will it work out? Seb has serious issues with his rear tyres apparently, after the lock up at the start. 

On lap 10 Lewis is now losing on Jenson. He is told to box, he has a slow puncture! Aw fuck. It's fucks up the whole strategy. Also he has radio issues and they can't hear him. But he does not come in. And still not. They tell him again. Does his radio not work in the other way as well? This time he does pit for mediums. He's now down in 19th… JEV DNFs. It's lap 20.

Lewis is up in 15th. 14th. He sets the fastest lap. Seb pits from the lead. Webber pits. Lewis P12. Pit stops ongoing. Lewis P8 chasing Rosberg for P7. Done. 

We're on lap 30 already. Lewis sets another fastest lap. Let's take a second. Seb is back in the lead, Alonso is now less than 10 seconds behind already. Then it's Webber, Massa, Hulkenberg, and Lewis is P6. It's cloooose, P5! Of course he'll have to stop again, probably soon. But for now it's another fastest lap. Ah the mechanics were in the pit but he didn't come in. The radio issues again I guess. He does pit this time. He's out in 14th. 

Lap 40. 13 laps to go. Webber has issues with his car. 10 laps to go. Seb also has issues with his car. They're gearbox related. Lewis overtakes Gutierrez for P12. 9 laps to go. Wait? Lewis still P13… now he overtakes Sutil for P12. Weird. 8 laps to go. KERS problems for Raikkonen, under pressure from Lewis. 6 laps to go. He overtakes him with 5 laps to go. 4 laps to go, and he's up in the points after overtaking Perez! 3 laps to go. He overtakes Jenson for P9, unbelievable. Final lap… come on… Ah he overtook Grosjean but cut the chicane so he gave the place back. 

It's the end of the race. 

Seb wins. Webber and Raikkonen stop their cars in the pit straight because of how bad they're doing. Lewis P9.

Lewis says the radio problems started lap 1. Pinkham asks how much of an impact it had. He frowns. "Well it's erm…" he sighs. "It's almost like, it almost blinds you a little bit, you know? You just don't know what's happening in the race, I didn't know when to stop."

He says of course there are pit boards (the journalists were discussing it during the race when he didn't come in when he was supposed to) but he finds them confusing, there's so many of them. You also don't know when to push and to not push, when to switch the settings. He says it was more on him, without the help it's a bit trickier (slight smile) "but I managed, so it was cool." Natalie says 9th place doesn't do him justice in terms of the entertainment he gave and the pace of the car (he set the fastest lap of the race). "Yeah, I mean…" he says slowly "the team did a great job and I didn't deliver this weekend." (Big sigh.) "I gotta go away and reset and try to recover in the next race."

She asks if he's encouraged by the pace of the car. He answers he believes it'll be doing well once they go back to the high downforce circuits. He's looking forward to it. 

About the rumours on Brawn buying in Williams, Ted says "so many people  have denied this I'm starting to believe that it's true." 

There's also a whole montage of Lewis overtakes because he's just that good.

I honestly don't..have a comfort movie. I'm not the kind of person who wants to rewatch something over and over again. I think the closest I have to a movie I'd always switch to on tv, is The Princess Bride.

I also really love About Time, which isn't comforting at all times, but terribly compelling and touching to me.

Hooooo boy. Wow. Okay. I was not a crush person. I ..did not have crushes. There were people I found attractive and took notice of, and that was about that.

My first was a guy named Derek, who was I think a sophomore when I was a freshman. (So, 9th grade vs 11th grade) We had Algebra together - which was a class he had decided to retake to get better grades for college admissions. He was also in the same spanish class as me, but one period earlier, so he'd sometimes walk out when I walked in.

I sat in front of him in Algebra, which he was typically pretty quiet in, and very relaxed. He leaned all the way back in his desk and knew all the answers but rarely participated.

I have very few memories of him. We chatted sometimes, had to mark eachothers work a lot because he was the last in the row and we were paired up. He had blonde hair, and a truck. (Which was common. It was south dakota, after all).

The next crush I had was in a video game (duh) on an MMO, on a guy nicknamed Pez. He was a canadian guy a year or two older who was also a bowmaster, and always like 10-20 levels higher than me. His parents were immigrants from Jamaica, and we talked long hours into the night, sometimes the only ones online in our friends lists. Sometimes we trained together when I got higher up in levels, and we'd do the all-level new events that would come out together. We were in the same guild for a while, but it disbanded eventually.

I've included them both because one I saw in person but knew nothing of, the other I never saw besides his avatar, but I spoke to very often.

Plus, and I s2g I'm not saying this just bc he's my fave character, but to me, Joey's DM voice is honestly the cutest male voice I've ever heard. Like, when I do hear him in other things, I always want to hug him??? Somehow he sounds sad!! And idk why!!

Whereas, like I said, Joey's Season 0 voice is very manly. He's in a looooot of things. He was actually in Banana Fish as such a smooth talking assassin, he was in Durarara (I actually never knew this till my recent rewatch) as....... an assassin. (context: i'm really bored rn and today went by so fast so i decided to post this before i forget i ever made it.)

ORDER IS FROM LEFT TO RIGHT:

1. Drive

WHY: It's my entire personality in one movie. I can't say that about any other movie in existence, ever.

2. Apocalypse Now

WHY: The perfect deluge of fantastical storytelling elements and masterful filmmaking. It also stars Martin Sheen who is my favorite living actor. And it was also shot in the Philippines which gives it plus points in my perspective.

3. The Passion of Joan of Arc

WHY: The true face of melancholia.

4. The Neon Demon

WHY: A modern fairytale in supreme neon Hollywood starring fellow Aries, Elle Fanning. What's not to like?

5. Rebel Without A Cause

WHY: Because James Dean is so cool, and I want to be like him so much.

6. Kung Fu Hustle

WHY: A literal perfect movie. I will forever defend Stephen Chow as one of the greatest auteurs of all time. Consider that he wrote, directed, produced, and starred in this behemoth of a movie. Also, this is my favorite superhero movie ever. If you know, you know.

7. Tokyo Drifter

WHY: Every minimalist's wet dream manifested into a yakuza B-movie.

8. East of Eden

WHY: More James Dean crying how I would cry in real life, perfect.

9. Badlands

WHY: Martin Sheen will always be the best, the coolest, and the most lost potential in my eyes. If he didn't do Apocalypse Now and it didn't mentally affect him as much as it did, he would probably have a legacy right now that you can compare to other seismic actors.

10. Pokemon: The First Movie

WHY: Because everybody loved this movie and everybody's probably only Pokemon movie they've seen. And Mewtwo.

11. Giant

WHY: A great American epic where you see what James Dean could have looked like if he got older.

12. One-Eyed Jacks

WHY: Magnetizing. My favorite Western.

13. The Tree of Life

WHY: To crave for a cosmic meaning to all things and receive it in such a trivial thing like film, it makes me cry every time.

14. Fallen Angels

WHY: The epitome of cool. Like sliding off Mount Everest using butter.

15. Blade Runner

WHY: Robots. Deep philosophy. An innate annoyance that all umbrellas don't have glow sticks in them. This movie is that noir movie you don't tell The Maltese Falcon or Chinatown about or they'll realize how bland and boring they are.

16. The Other Side of The Wind

WHY: The greatest Orson Welles film ever was made after he died. How tragic. How fitting.

17. The Dark Knight Rises

WHY: Such a sweet blockbuster thrill with a very underrated Bane portrayal. Also being stuck in a bottomless pit and having to crawl out of it yourself is very relatable, innit?

18. Sucker Punch

WHY: Do I really need to explain?

19. The Big Sleep

WHY: Don't judge me but I can rewatch this movie ten times in a row and never get bored. I love fast-talking, slick-talking, nowhere-going, nothing-understanding flicks.

20. Julius Caesar

WHY: I recite lines from this movie before I go to sleep at night. I shout the same lines when I wake up at the morning.

21. Barry Lyndon

WHY: I can't rewatch this without being prepared to feel existentially empty and cry endlessly. The only Kubrick film I can stomach without feeling completely hopeless about everything and anything.

22. Ghost In The Shell

WHY: Too cool for live action adaptation, man.

And there is the first version of my list. There is, more than a likely, a lot of movies I missed to include here but I'll save those for another time. It's just hard to sit down and think about things that have had an emotional affect on me.
