── IT WAS ONCE SAID THAT THERE ARE THREE UNIVERSAL TRUTHS IN THIS WORLD :
ONE : GRIEF IS A DEAD MAN WALKING. it will overcome you, destroy you, devour you, drown you beneath the waves of sorrow. IT WILL HURT. it always will. but it is ultimately you who deems your survival. do not forget that.
TWO : YOU WILL KNOW LONELINESS LIKE IT IS YOUR DEEPEST COMPANION. you will find familiarity with the emptiness, and it will turn into nostalgia turned to mourning twisted into an anguish. in the end, you won't know the difference between friend or foe in the coexistence of your own solitude.
THREE : THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD IS A TERRIBLY HEAVY THING, DEAREST. make sure you do not carry it alone.
it is almost amusing, you think, gaze boring into the dying embers before you, how convenient it is to forget said truths. how it slips from the mind in the most foolish of times when the truth is spoken to you ; how obnoxiously it echoes into memory when you speak of it to someone as means of lessons learned.
the truth is a very miserable thing sometimes, this sobering reminder of humanity, but it is also something so excruciatingly tender.
you shiver. the air is cold and unwelcoming. the embers burn bright, then nearly fade into nothingness : a distant flux and flow, the reignition of something that wants to survive.
what a profound sight it is, clive thinks, almost breathless at your beauty beneath the moonlight, it is a mere glimpse to the serenity that settles in the depths of your heart, almost forgotten, and in the weariness of your features, it serves as something hopeful. you must be searching for a shooting star ; you always are, and maybe he's searching for one tonight, too. how lucky you would both be if granted a wish fulfilled. perhaps it would spare you from the pain to come on this endless journey, this path to redemption and salvation.
he looks to the sky, too, hopes to remember this moment for a long while, this time in which you find repose beneath the stars.
it is not long before you feel him shift beside you, his hands gentle as he drapes his cloak over your shoulders. you do not say anything, but you smile in silent thanks, and he wonders how he can do this. how he can say this. the destruction of oneself is much easier than the destruction of another. he returns the smile, but it does not reach his eyes, and you know that something is wrong.
he averts his gaze, focuses on the fire. dying, dying, dead. fire is such a horrific being, he has learned, and what a tragic way he has discovered it so. how it burns and burns, consuming everything in its path. it is ruthless in nature-- a terror that seizes anything it can, burning it into damnation and ruin until there is nothing but ashes meant to be forgotten.
such fire runs in his blood, and with it, a quiet violence. he does not know why, doesn't know how, and he begs the question to the divine a thousand times over. there is no answer. there never is, never will be. the only thing he knows is that there is blood on his hands, and he cannot afford to shed yours. he will not.
even if it means going your separate ways, even if he means breaking your heart, even if it means carrying out an act of betrayal to the trust that has bound you to each other.
"i..." he cannot even bring himself to speak. what a coward he is. "there is something i wish to discuss with you."
you still look to the sky. the subtle curve of your lips does not falter, even with the words he does not expect to hear.
"you plan to leave, don't you?" you wonder if there is a shooting star somewhere out there, wonder if it will be kind enough to visit in times of despair. "you think this is all your fault, that you were the one who killed what you thought to be most precious."
the smile has faded. your gaze shifts to the ashes, then to him, seeing that heartache in those blue eyes. something feels like it's tightening around your throat. you suspect it is grief. you speak again, anyway.
"you think... that your existence should be void, that you should be punished for what you believe you did. that if you stay-- if you stay here, if you stay with me, then it'll happen all over again."
he does not speak for a long while. what can you even say to that? how can he tell you that you're right, that he's afraid he could hurt you to the point of no return and not know it? that he's going to leave you because he loves you?
you turn towards him, your hands reaching for his. your hold is tender, careful, but he feels the way you tremble ever so slightly. it is his fault.
"the things i've done back then--" he pauses, uncertainty in his eyes, a grief of some sort, "i didn't know it was me. i thought i had been chasing after the one responsible for my pain, but i've been chasing a ghost all along." his hands squeeze yours, and maybe they're shaking, too. "i failed my duty. there's only one path that lies ahead of me, and that is one where you are safe."
he doesn't know what to expect-- your anger, your fury. that's what he almost wants, because it is much easier to end things that way. but he doesn't expect your expression to soften, doesn't expect to feel the way your hand cups his cheek, thumb tracing over his scar. he is already on the verge of break, but this may be the one thing that pushes him over the edge, and a sorrowful smile finds its way to your lips at the tears that threaten to trail down his face.
"you don't want to go, clive." your voice is barely above a whisper, quiet, almost forgotten in the wind.
no, he doesn't. he doesn't want to leave, doesn't want to leave you, doesn't want to lose you. he wants to stay. he wants to think that there's hope somewhere, but the truth of it all is that there's just not.
"no, i don't." he places his hand over yours, instinctively leans into your touch. "i don't."
"so stay. stay with me. i know you are in despair. i know. but the truth runs deeper than any of us suspect. you can't give up, not yet." this time, your voice almost breaks. you lean forward, your forehead pressed against his. you are afraid to speak. "we are not meant for solitude, you know. the path you take is the only one i know. i will not leave you, clive. not now, not ever."
he doesn't--
he feels his heart waver, feels like his thoughts are a mess, mind a haze in the midst of mourning. he cannot help but close his eyes at your words, at your warmth. he doesn't know if he can believe you, not yet. to grant himself forgiveness is an act of selfishness, and it is not one that is deserved. not now, maybe not ever.
"you've always bested me, haven't you?" even now, he's unsure of what to say, what to do. you've always been right, always known the best course of action. even in the darkest nights of ruin, you've always managed to find the light. for that, he is grateful. "...you have my heart, always. thank you."
you smile, but this time, it is a quiet sadness, yet almost hopeful. your lips meet his-- brief, but more than enough.
the journey ahead is a long one. it will be difficult. it will be harsh, cruel, and it will push both of you to the point of break. but so long as you have each other, you will make it.
"of course." you answer, and you kiss him once more. "you have my heart, too. our paths will always be intertwined, clive."
he laces his fingers with yours, lips ghosting against the back of your hand in an act of reverence.
"yes," he murmurs, and maybe there is something holy in the way he speaks to you, looks at you, "always."

No update today...because I just graduated from college!!! It's been a wild weekend with my graduation ceremony and moving apartments and all that, but from here on out I'm officially free!
We're also just past the third anniversary of Purity Town! I had started working on the comic towards the end of my first semester at college, during one of the lowest points of my life -- so suffice to say, I'm so glad to see how far we've come since then, and many thanks to everyone for sticking around for so long and making this such a fun experience to work on!
And with all that, after ages, I've finally got ask responses all typed up under the cut!
Tumblr media
And thank you for reading!!!!! Seriously, it makes me so so so happy to see people enjoying this comic so much -- I'm getting to draw things and get excited about my lore ideas and present NPC interpretations and OCs and it's wonderful that other people are just as hyped about it. I adore Chris and Andrew a lot and I'm glad other people do too!
Tumblr media
Haha, yep! The Dryad gets to see That Guy again after 450 years, the townsfolk get to see the equivalent of a mythical fairy show up to bless their town, and Andrew has to deal with the Literal Actual Dryad in town and up in his business. Everyone will be happy about this and there's no way it will end messily!
Tumblr media
I've definitely thought about it! Particularly having her being Andrew's maternal grandmother, and then working elements reminiscent of that into Andrew's mother's design -- I even have a general idea for how she looks based on that, though I don't have anything to show for it as I haven't tried properly drawing her out.
I think there are several interesting hooks that could come of it, depending on how you spin it. Big problem with all of that being that, at least off the top of my head, there's hardly any in-game lore surrounding the nymph -- she's just someone (some creature? a type of creature? a unique being?) that exists.
I did see a note on the wiki pointing out the similarities between the Dryad and the Nymph's designs, but I'm not totally convinced that's intended; they just happen to both be showing a lot of skin. The definition of "Dryad" including the word "Nymph" nudges me towards them being related, but I'm still just...not sure. Maybe Nymphs (or Nymph, singular) are a handful of Dryads who were not outright killed in the war but instead mutated beyond recognition by the eldritch powers they fought against? Much to think about; I'm open to ideas if anyone has opinions on the matter!
Tumblr media
Here you go! And a sta.sh link again in case of Tumblr-image-quality-shenanigans.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you!!! The Aether is an incredibly fun location to draw in general; it's so strange and magical and gives me an excuse to add stars and sparkles everywhere. Add in the Shimmer and it's just- such a delight, haha. It's rainbows and starlight and it was really interesting translating the in-game side view we get of the Shimmer pond to the top view in the comic.
Tumblr media
Thank you :) This was quite the semester, and working around other folks' schedules for groupwork and sudden project requirements changes and so on and so forth left me with a busy and unpredictable schedule. But I was able to wrap up the semester with solid finals and a great GPA, so it worked out in the end -- and now I'll finally be settling into a more regular work schedule. No more all-nighters (hopefully)!!
Tumblr media
I’ll admit that I haven’t really thought about this much. If anything, I’ll probably handwave it a bit to be more general -- main reason being that there are plenty of reasons for someone to be on edge during a Blood Moon, and that can be an interesting thing to explore without making it into a “haha menstruation” joke.
(Also, considering the Zoologist transforms during a Blood Moon regardless of moon phase, I think the idea of the moon warping the mind and that being amplified during Blood Moons in general is a more interesting take. But even if you remove that element, Blood Moons are scary and characters being snappy or on-edge is reasonable given the circumstances.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t have a good response to this bit, but please know that it made me laugh quite a lot.
Tumblr media
First off -- I’m so sorry for taking so long to answer this ask; I hope you’ve gotten good info elsewhere in the meantime but I’ll add what advice I can give! Here are some general tips below -- some may be more useful than others depending on your situation and approach to drawing, but I hope it helps in some way or another!
Start small. Purity Town started as a 2-page mini-comic, and then expanded into a 10-page chapter as I got used to the comic-making process and decided whether I wanted to stick with the project or not. Purity Town ended up snowballing into a larger narrative comic rather than the "small comic snippets accompanying a more typical fanfic" as I had originally been thinking of, but starting small helped me ease into it nonetheless. By the time that I had finished the first chapter, I had gained enough experience working with comics to feel comfortable/confident enough to continue on to chapter 2, and things just kept rolling from there.
Pace yourself. I'm quite slow at drawing, so I generally do my best to set aside time every Saturday just to work on the comic, as well as working on it whenever I feel like it over the week. This keeps me from burnout (and repetitive strain injuries). Importantly, having a set update schedule also helps me remember to actually work on updates, as leaving me to my own devices = never getting anything done (see: how long it took to answer this ask). However, many folks do just fine updating entirely on their own time, so take this one with a grain of salt and figure out what works best for you!
Plan ahead. This applies more to making longer, narrative-focused comics. Because comic-making is so time consuming, every page should count. You don't need to have the entire thing written out before you begin (see again: burnout; it's also nice to have some level of flexibility with the story to see it grow alongside your skills), but planning out at least the current story "segment" is a big help. I like to script out the current chapter, starting with a pile of out-of-context dialogue snippets and overarching chapter ideas and boiling it down to a proper dialogue script with notes for panel ideas. It helps a lot with figuring out how long the chapter will end up being and lets me freely move events around until I'm happy with how they fit together, rather than doing it all on the fly.
Do what you can to save time. If you're a digital artist especially, look into what tools your art program of choice has to help make your illustration process smoother, like paint filling tools or vector lines. If you want to re-use backgrounds or character art, then do so! It's okay! Do whatever makes you enjoy what you're doing and happy with the end result!
Stay organized. This was touched on in a number of the other points, but it's so important that I'm giving it its own slot. I make liberal use of folders and layers -- personally, I use three layers for lineart and every layer has at most two colors. Text gets its own folder and special effects have color-coded labels. My layers are always organized in the same way and I keep often-reused materials (like the lineart for Chris' staff) in separate files for easy access. Of course, the specifics are dependent on how you draw, but this has made a world of difference for me personally.
It's okay to experiment and change things. Figure out what works for you -- some folks do comics entirely as sketches or lineart without coloring, you'll see book-style vs. scrolling/vertical webcomics, and all that. It's okay to swap things up if you find that something isn't working out. Don't get too caught up in everything being "perfect," just experiment and see what makes you happy.
(Side note, but if anyone here specifically uses Clip Studio Paint and wants to talk about platform-specific details like brushes or using certain tools, feel free to send me a message on Tumblr/Discord about it. I am by no means a master of Clip Studio, but I am at least familiar with the particular tools I frequently use and can give info on them!)
Tumblr media
Based on personal experience, a random cave halfway down to Hell. 90% chance that it’s completely enclosed and filled with random monsters, haha. Luckily the Dryad was there to stop him!

Oblivion Theory / Pile of Snow Theory by WandyDoodles / @wandydoodles
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oblivion Theory link
It's a good read! Go read it! It's way faster than 190 pages looks like because the font is big and plenty of pictures too. Almost like reading a comic book level of difficulty to focus, I like it a lot. My specific thoughts below the read more
I think this is potentially dead on for at least the symbolism that's going on, though it's still probable to me that there is also an "in-universe" angel. I'm also not sure if I agree with the assumption that the red soul we pilot is special beyond it being a human soul either? Like, there's no reason (YET) to believe that a different human couldn't also seal fountains just from their soul being able to float around in dark worlds like ours does. (like the Susie jail escape, Ferris wheel, literally every battle, etc.) Like, they could just be a magician like those dudes who did a big magic barrier in Deltarune.
On the ending thoughts: I was going to add that Sans' could be talking about Flowey, but...No. Flowey hasn't revealed himself to anyone except us in this timeline. How the hell would he know our type if not from something that happens in DR?! I never noticed it before! Flowey does explain other dialog, like "our reports showing timelines jumping around" and what not even if you did Geno first run/on a true reset. It's why I never thought about it before.
The proposal for The Vessel being The Knight seems very, hard to believe at first. I'm still not settled on it myself, but: The Vessel could be mistaken for Kris if they throw on a hood maybe? "There's that creepy Kris going to the library. We're used to our 1 human in town!" With a lot of characters showing a knowledge on what's going to happen (like Jevil) they might just know when to go do things already without raising suspicion. Only appearing when Kris wouldn't, and/or slipping by without people seeing. It's interesting to me that they never bothered addressing that tbh. I wonder if it's just something they couldn't explain well so rather than bringing it up, they're just hoping we explain it ourselves/wait for new chapter dialog to confirm this.
I am 100% sold on the knight not wanting to end the world though, I've been calling it the "Conspiracy Theory Theory" where the Bad Guy™ is not the Bad Guy™ but rather someone trying to make us Stronger so we can help fight The Really Bad Guy™ (like Kill La Kill kind of[the 10th anniversary was recent, so it's just the only example I can think of atm.]) It gets that ridiculous name because I believe MANY characters are in on it, including Kris themselves, Ralsei, The Red Soul, The Knight, Goner Maker Sequence Voices 1 & 2, Mystery Man, Geoff, Gaster, etc. Pretty much everyone who could be except Susie.
The save file analysis is wrong I feel? When Flowey takes over the save file, that is a veteran with literal near-godlike powers who knows how to manipulate saves. He hasn't had control for 9999:99 yet, despite what the timer shows. That info could be missing for Kris because we weren't there when it was made, what we use to see save file information shows what's missing because it literally doesn't know how long Kris has had that save nor where it was made. We get to see the name because we're in their body though. Like we see empty save files, and they're just empty. After a true reset? It's just empty, just like erasing a file in Deltarune. Kris having ANY information means something more than "just to establish you as a separate entity even harder than Undertale." Especially if the cut intro of Susie trying to wake us up is still hinting towards something like a timeloop being canon. (instead of being cut because it's not longer true)
Save file part 2 break in paragraph for easier reading: It might also be because Kris doesn't have the soul they made that save with anymore, if you're a Kris Is Toy Knife Kid Equivalent Truther like me.
It also falls for the trap of thinking what Chara says at the end of genocide is strictly a metanarrative statement, not something Chara believes will be possible. In a game where characters consistently say things that apply both in and out of universe, which I've never liked. Like Flowey after restarting the game after in TPE talking to both: 1.) us in the meta, but believes he is giving his parting words to 2.) Chara IN universe.
But like everything with depth, people are gonna make mistakes. Especially mistakes they don't think are mistakes and are much simpler answers without constant "catches" and clarifications. It's kind of like explaining King Crimson to people, where I'm the only person to do it right. (not a serious statement)
They also point to Mettaton's nebulous "Ratings" when mentioning the amount of monsters in the underground, instead of the echo flower where it's stated there's literally thousands of monsters??? This is something I see people do all the time?

Hi, I just wanted to ask for your thoughts on a stupid theory of mine about Papyrus (the mighty, the great, the light of my life).
What if Papyrus is possessed or something similar? Like how Frisk is by Chara in the Genocide route?
Has slits for eyes, more like Chara's eyes than Sans' or even Gaster's more rounded, skeleton eye socket shape.
Has to actively attempt to use an asterisk when talking but has trouble replicating it.
His dream about riding a car includes feeling the wind in his hair, but he has to correct himself because skeletons don't HAVE hair. That's like a human forgetting that they don't have a tail.
I'm sure there's more evidence out there but that's all I've got so far...
Hello anon. ^^ I'm not sure if you're the same anon who sent me the other Papyrus ask but if so, hello again. :D
Hmmm...interesting theory, I like the idea, though I do wonder what he would be possessed by? He does have unusual eyes and lacks an asterisks, but I think it could just be unusual traits he has.
As for the thing about him having hair and skull, I think both the skeleton brothers just do some very human things, likely as a sight gag, but I've seen theories years ago about them being former human. Sans also does stuff like comb his skull. Both of them can also play a trombone, with Sans doing it in the game, and there's a picture of Papyrus playing a trombone in the artbook.
I'm still not sure what to think of this theory, so I'd like to hear more from you anon if you have any other ideas. ^^
Thanks for the ask! :D

i’m so curious to see how kris well develop as a character in the dess raises kris au bc like. in the first story kris has all these wonderful friends who are supporting them and helping them through this really big event in their life (as well as an actual therapist) but in THIS au they don’t really have that (or at least they don’t have it to the same extent that they did in the other fic)
kris's arc! i have quite a few very fun ideas as to what i want to do with it, partly cause, yeah, kris here has a much smaller support system than they do in my other big fic! so a lot of this one is of course them GETTING that support system cause of COURSE all the kids are gonna be friends by the end of things!!!
another major part of kris's arc here is starting to work thru their mommy issues basically. kris has basically been raised by overworked single parent chara while idealizing dess who isnt ever around, and i plan to go into that a LOT, in regards to kris, and how they conceptualize themself due to all of that. one big thing is that over the course of the story we see kris grow a lot closer to chara! still not, fully solidified yet, but i do really want to do a lot with that relationship.
oh and because I'm Me despite the fact that this is not a fic about being nonhuman, we're, uh, for sure gonna get a lot of that in the background lol. kris is a deer-monster! like dess :)
AND THEN THERES THE NOTE ABOUT HOW KRIS MIGHT GET POSSESSED BY THIS AU'S ADAPTATION OF THE PLAYER. but we'll. uh. get into that once i figure out how im adapting the player lol. i have some VERY fun ideas tho, including a character that i've had in my back pocket for years lol. i've always been looking for a fic to bring this character into, and i think this au might be the one...
but yeah!! kris <3

Random but do you play any other like dating sims? I'm getting back into Tears of Themis again after like so long and I was wondering whether Artem Wing would be your type
— 🦋
i actually tried to get into Tears of Themis! specifcally because Artem looked like You Know Who. i didn't get very far into it (gachas don't appeal to me anymore, don't ask me how much i've spent on Genshin Impact) but i was actually surprised how much i ended up like Vyn. never found out what his deal was but i love evil scientist archetypes lmao. another issue i had with the game was that Luke and Marius had absolutely no appeal to me; at least in Mysme, charas i'm not romantically inclined towards like Yoosung and Luciel still interested me because they were fun and complex characters beyond their attractiveness and "fix me" suffering. maybe it was because i never got past a certain point in the game, but those two from ToT just never grabbed my interest : \
as for any other otome games i like........
there's a promising one in development rn that i've been following since it blew up on twitter a few months ago called Touchstarved. it seems very promising and has a lot of fantasy monsters and magics and stuff, plus the art is FANTASTIC. you can actually check out their official account here @redspringstudio
another one i love of course is Ebon Light which you can download and play completely FOR FREE on itch.io, really great dark fantasy world and a slew of not!drows to romance
as for what i'm playing right now........if you're underage stop reading
rn i'm playing DoL, it's basically a porn game that includes a BUNCH of really dark topics. like, even if you don't have triggers, look up the triggers for this game, it is not for those with weak stomachs. that said, all the sex scenes aside, it does have romance interests in it you can date, a compelling plot, as well as a staggering amount of player agency to do with what you will in the town and surrounding forest/land/ocean. again, do you're research before picking this game up or you will be in for a bad time

Error Flowey: Profile 1
Well, considering he's somewhat part of the Error Chara's story, I figured I'd shed some info on him. And since his role in the main story is somewhat minor, I'll be giving more information on what he can do, since there's a good chance I'll never need to use any of it. Just for reference sake, if anyone is curious. Back Story: He comes from a Classic Universe, one of the Undertale Game worlds. As Omega Flowey, the Player in control of Frisk was never able to free the six souls, and they gave up. And Never Came Back! But Nobody Came... (This actually happened to one of my IRL friends a few years ago). Being stuck in a sub void of nothingness, in a game where he cannot interact with anything, he got desperate. Since he was able to create a dimension with a dummy save file and save states, he figured he could modify and edit values of his world. After six months of solitude, of messing around with the games code, he began to mess with his own. And after some trial and error Error ErRoR ERROR... his world... was no more. Emerging in the void, all his memories in tact and a new colour pallet, he would wonder. Looking for anything to hold his interest, to perhaps give purpose to his uncaring existence. Appearance: He has near Black skin, rich Blue petals, Purple stem and leaves, and White floaty "Error" messages that hovers around him. His eye sockets are White and Hollow, unless he closes them around his pupils. His pupils are Magenta, though he can hide them making his eyes look Hollow and White. Stats: ATK: 66? DEF: 6? LV: 20     EXP: 99999Error Attack strength is high due to two factors, High LV and being an "Error" (what ever that means) Defense is still technically high compared to regular monsters, but not ground breaking. Though, with strong attack stat, and high HP pool, plus glitchiness, I don't think it matters to much. Level of Violence is 20, a.k.a. Max due to not caring. He's incredibly distant from anyone and everyone (almost) that he can easily bring himself to harm others. Execution Points are overclocked because of all the AU's he's destroyed on a whim. Special Abilities: Substrate Burrow: Can burrow into any surface (unless a coder, hacker, or creator puts barriers in place), including the void floor. This is how he's able to get information across the void. He's able to spy on any target and stay out of sight. And he's a curious one, remember, he's read every book, he's burned every book. Plant Tendrils: These operate similar to the coding strings of other Errors, but are vines instead Friendliness Pellets: They're bullets, let's not kid ourselves Transformations: Depending on how many Human Souls, or Monster Souls Equivalents, will determine what level he can transform into. Soul Level: 0: Error Flowey 1: Error Asriel (Young - similar to how he looked in flashbacks) 2: Error Asriel (Pre Teen) 3: Error Asriel (Teen) 4: Error Asriel (Young Adult Similar to how he looked during phase 1 of the final battle) 5: Error Asriel (Adult) 6: Error Omega Flowey 7: Error of HyperDeath As Error Asriel he will also don a Golden Heart Locket. He also hates being in his Asriel forms, while much stronger, his compassion and emotions eventually start flooding back in. And lets just say he has a lot of baggage he wishes not to have emotions for. Error Flowey's Goal!? Aside from battling boredom, he does have a personal goal, that's more or less a curse on him. Whenever he see's a Chara that reminds him of his own, he feels obligated to help them achieve their goal. The reason for this is in his mind he has failed his Chara three times. First time is the buttercup incident. Second time is letting them both die at the hands of Humans. Third time is destroying his home world, making His Chara's sacrifices all in vain, as monsters can never be set free in a destroy and erased world Relationships: 6 Human Souls: In his travels though the void he encountered 6 souls that reside within his inventory. Bravery, Justice, Kindness, Patients, Integrity, Perseverance. These souls all come from corrupted worlds where they felt cheated and wanted a second chance to set things right. They act as a council of sorts. Guiding Flowey to help him make informed decisions as to not just destroy everything he sees as an inconvenience. Though most of the time they just sleep. Error Chara: Even though he knows this Chara is not His Chara, he still feels something familiar about them. To the point where he can track them down no matter where they are. He knows their plan involves uniting Sans's and Chara's across the multiverse, and despite also thinking the plan is stupid and destined to fail, he will provide as much information as they need. He will also try to keep distractions away from Error Chara so they can stay focused on their goal. Enjoy~

"Apologies, for what I mean about Pesticide being unable to exploit Error's anger like Geno!Sans, since while he can strategize a plan to spook Error. It seems more like a personal vendetta, so anger might take over Pesticide. What do you mean by Error get weaken when overwhelmed, since I don't remember any of Error's stat going down, plus in most fights, while he might have a moment of weakness, he returns to fight as vicious as before or even harder if he realizes the severity, example such as Underswap Fight and even with Fresh, he was ready to kill and not play with his food ."
"On top of that, Error's strings are literally blue magic materialized, so theoretically it would work. And lastly, couldn't Error just erase Aftertale from inside when Pesticide traps him inside the save screen? Flowey and Human are unable to reset, so Error could just erase the world, especially if he sees in what state Pesticide left it. While, Pesticide can defeat Error once or twice, Error cannot be killed or subdue long enough, and even if he is manchild, since as shown in the comic, he is also able to learn, strategize and attack, it is just that the anti-void gave him a super volative new personality. Like Error and Fatal_Error would be on par as difficult."
"Since there are not a lot of sources about Pesticide's behaviour, I am taking the assumption that due to his personal hatred for Error, he is unable to fully exploit Error's irrational feelings like a normal Geno!Sans would."
"And while I sound like an Error defender, there is one more problem, doesn't Pesticide realize that by resetting the world with so many geno inside the save screen, there is the possibility that the next Classic's mind to be a little hivemind of Genos, including Error, Fatal and Pesticide. Or that he would start a loop, since after Pesticide finish his mission and reset the timeline, the new first Geno will become Error, then Fatal, up to Pesticide once again. Even Erasure sounds better than the Pesticide's plan."
"Since in terms of Geno scale, there is not really a scale, since while Error is more physically powerful than Geno, Geno defeats him due to his mind and strategy. Like most Geno, Error, Pesticide and Fatal would be on the same level in general, so most of fights would end up in draws, as wins and loses would depends heavily on context of the fight. Now one more question, do you think if Pesticide lose to one Geno, would that Geno torture him for info, since while Pesticide looks like an edgier Geno, Geno is already a sadist in denial, considering he was okay with torturing Chara so he can erase the world."
"So the problem with Pesticide plan have been laid in this ask and the one from before, such as the theoretical existence of an infinite amount of Geno, the possibility of messing Aftertale completely by destroying Classic's mind as it hosts too many personalities, and the loop."
"If you think I am going too much into details, I can stop, I am just wondering about the circumstances and how Pesticide could defeat himself like this, considering all the other Genos had time to evolve as well."
No, it’s alright! I’m happy to respond! It helps me develop him more, too.
Yes, his anger gets in the way a LOT. But especially when working with Nightmare, I feel like Nightmare would guide him to harness than anger instead of just explode. It does help much, but it helps enough that he’s not just a second raging man-baby :P (I go more in-depth with this at the end as well.)
I’m talking about his crashes and reboots! When Error gets overwhelmed he crashes and reboots, rendering him incapable to move or run away.
Theoretically yes! But Error doesn’t use them to keep them still, he uses it to puppet them. The only time such magic would have effect was if the intent was to keep Pesticide still. If Error were to use blue magic to move him, he’d be able to break out of it. And that’s Error’s natural response when using his strings, to tie them up and move them somewhere else. He keeps them still/in place AFTER moving them, which would give Pesticide the advantage (well, until Error realizes this).
Error could erase Aftertale, yes- but that’s stopped when you consider Pesticide’s plan to put him in a loop of crashes and reboots by keeping him consistently overwhelmed. Error wouldn’t have a chance to. Although this would be incredibly difficult to pull off, it’s not impossible.
Continuing above, I feel like Aftertale would have SUCH an influence over the multiverse and it’s well being that erasing it without erasing the other Geno’s would… well, it would spread the glitch to the ENTIRE multiverse and make a big mess. Not that anyone KNOWS this, but there is a reason story-wise for Error to not just erase Aftertale. It would lead to a multiverse apocalypse.
It would become a loop, actually! And he would be entirely unaware that he’s the cause of his own predicament. It wouldn’t be a hive mind or anything because Aftertale would reset to the very beginning, to the OG comic. Hence why it loops!
Pesticide’s Geno-scale isn’t based on strength or who would win, but instead by how difficult they would be to obtain. You’re right! A lot of them would depend on the context and setting of the battle.
If Pesticide were to lose and a Geno WERE to decide to torture him for information, it would be hard. Pesticide is basically an amalgamation of his own, just with enough sanity (combined with the glitches from Aftertale) that prevent him from merging with other monsters. So torture would be pretty hard. He’d probably end up using it to gain the upper hand and win, or accept the loss and retreat. There is no stopping him though.
As for infinite versions of Geno, I feel like Pesticide would only actually go for the Geno alternates who came from his specific AU. There are multiple iterations of Aftertale, (including Aftertale combined with say Dancetale) and he knows it’s impossible to find ALL Geno’s, so he just needs the one from his AU. Which is certainly a lot, but it’s nowhere near infinite. (I feel like it would be somewhere between 20 and 50 different Geno’s.)
I would like to reiterate that Pesticide ABSOLUTELY doesn’t just one-and-done this. Much like FATAL’s attempts to recreate his brother and failing, Pesticide fails a LOT. But with failure comes a chance to learn from his mistakes, and he’s DETERMINED enough to use those lessons to his advantage. Eventually he will win, but that win will come from hundreds of thousands of failures. And it will also come from him using all that information to his advantage to get that one, singular win. I suppose you could compare it to Geno trying over and over again for the ONE timeline Sans agrees to help him end everything. OG Geno didn’t give up then. Pesticide’s not giving up now.

Another year, and yet one more day that the Dreemurrs are happy to have Lo in their lives. There’s no way she’s getting out of this birthday without a gift to remind her how lucky they all are to have her.
So, the week before, Toriel let her know that she didn’t have to babysit tonight, but that they still wanted her to come over for dinner, if she was able. Now that the evening is here, it looks like the kids can barely contain their excitement. All of them finished their vegetables simply so the meal would end as soon as possible… including Flowey, who actually probably fed his vegetables to the Roomba. At least they’re off his plate and that’s what matters, though.
At last, Asgore gives Chara (who is practically bursting at the seams by now, unable to sit still which is very uncharacteristic of them) a nudge and tells them to, “Go ahead, champ, go get it.” The child is out of the room like a rocket, and back in record time. When they return, they’re carrying a box that, while comparatively thin, is almost as tall as they are. That said, they don’t appear to be struggling.
With a smile that looks much more genuine than their normal defense mechanism, Chara places the box down in front of Lo. They’re beaming, and both Asriel and Frisk are clambering over each other shouting for Lo to open it. Even Kris, usually stoic, is sitting on the sofa, smiling into their wineglass as if they think that will keep anyone from noticing that they’re excited to see their friend’s reaction to her present.
When the wrapping paper is torn away and the box opened, it becomes pretty clear that while everyone must have contributed, the idea for the gift obviously came from Chara. It’s a picture set in a glittering silver frame, large enough to be displayed proudly on a wall… a detailed rendering of a star map.
At the top, in the black space unoccupied by stars, all the family’s signatures have been carefully penned. But at the bottom, there is printed a date, a summer night several years ago, and beneath that, in beautiful calligraphy:
‘twinkle, twinkle, little star do you know how loved you are?’
All the other siblings are bouncing and squealing among themselves, while Kris and Chara remain composed as ever. Kris reaches over to tap the back of the frame with their knee. “Cool, huh? We thought it was on brand for your aesthetic.” A sip from their glass, then, as if they’ve ‘forgotten’ something, they poke their oldest sibling in the back. “Oh, yeah. Tell her the coolest part, Chara.”
“Ah! Yes, I was getting to it.” The ten-year-old’s reaction is evidently part of something they’ve planned, looking too annoyed at their sibling for it to be anything sincere. Still, they squeeze themself up between Lo and the picture, their little hand reaching to trace some of the stars. (Without touching the glass and leaving fingerprints, of course.)
“This is… a map of the stars on this date.” They gesture to the date printed at the bottom of the picture. “Do you recognize it? It is the day you started coming over to watch us. This is the day you came into our lives.”
Toriel chuckles, walking over to put a hand on Lo’s shoulder. “Our world got a little brighter that day, and every day since. But we do think that sometimes, you do not quite know how much you have changed our lives for the better.”
“Golly, maybe we should say it more often,” Asgore laughs, “but things wouldn’t be nearly as wonderful around here without you.”
“We love you,” Chara murmurs, turning away from the picture so they can circle their arms tightly around Lo’s waist. “We thought you deserved to know how breathtaking the stars were on the most important day in our lives… even if we did not know it was back then.”
In an instant, Frisk and Asriel run over to each join the hug pile, with Frisk’s arms joining Chara’s around Lo’s waist and Asriel wrapping his arms gently around her neck. “You’re the best, Lo!!”
With that, Flowey enters the fray, and his vines start to wind around Lo’s leg like clinging ivy. “Yeah, so you better not go anywhere anytime soon!”
“Pfff.” Kris lifts their glass again, and this time, they don’t bother trying to hide their smile. “Nobody else has a drink, but screw it. Cheers; to Lo.”
“To Lo!” comes the chorus from the rest of the family in perfect harmony.
And… that settles that, really. All that’s left is the cake in the kitchen waiting to be cut, but… this hug might be going on for a few minutes.
It's...
Oh, god.
The whole night has been so wonderful. It's been nice to just be; even though she truly loves babysitting for the Dreemurrs, it's a nice change to be a guest instead of the host, a participant instead of the facilitator of the evening. Seeing everyone at ease, having fun, getting along (even Asgore and Toriel!), it would have been enough for her.
But now...
Now, looking at this, something in the air has changed. It's... the thought of this, the little (goofy but sweet) rhyme, the precision of the star map that could only be Chara's idea...
She hears their words, everyone's. But what she hears is not what registers in her head. Her ears hear praise, and kindness, and affection...
And what she understands, maybe for the first time in a while, is we love you. You are loved.
You are enough.
She feels Chara's hands at her waist, and she... sort of sinks. She pulls them, the child she loves as her own, into her arms, matching their embrace. She feels the rest of them pile on, and the cheers, and she finally finds her words.
"It's perfect," she whispers, holding onto them all a little tighter, "it's all perfect. I... I love you all so much. Thank you."
The shoulder of Chara's sweater is going to get wet in a moment, once that tear falls from her cheek. She hopes they don't mind.

Frisk is starting to sound a lot like a certain human that Flowey knew a long time ago. Disregarding the feelings of Asriel/Flowey, hating humanity, doing what they think is best for everyone around them... It's no wonder Flowey mistook them for Chara the first time around.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You can hear Frisk sigh heavily. They don't speak for a few moments.
Are you doing okay, Frisk? You've been really quiet. Fae ponders, I have been thinking about what you've said about your situation... I understand why you got upset before and I'm not mad at you or anything.
I am grateful to hear it, but an apology is still necessary. Frisk responds, It has been a long time since I have truly processed the situation we are in - Flowey and I - The observers' scrutiny has forced me to analyze my decisions more closely. And it affected me more than I anticipated. I should not have taken my frustrations out on you. I am sorry.
It's not your fault, Frisk. You are just doing what you think will protect the most people. I don't think there would have been any better options when you made those choices.
But don't you think that we should take what the 'observers' say to heart, too? Maybe there is a way we could save everyone. A way to let everyone be happy. Including you.
I wish it were possible...
I believe it is! I mean, look at how well we are doing so far! You said that other monsters wouldn't be so kind this time, but we haven't been in one fight yet. I think that is proof enough that things are different now.
Fae's newly learned assertiveness is shining through. Despite the undeniable obstacles that this path would mean for them, Frisk has no choice but to have faith in her words.

@ask-the-rpg-3 @jakei95 This does raise an interesting point, and it could be worth discussing if it can be done without becoming a brawl. I’ll precede this by mentioning I myself am nonbinary and go by they/them, and this is not an invitation to a dogfight or a dogpile.
The same gender will still look and feel different from person to person between presentation and the experiences that contribute to personal relationship with it. There are enbies who use gendered names or pronouns, some exclusively so. To add to that, some people first come out as nonbinary before coming out as transmasc/transfem or vice-versa. I actually got more connected with my own local trans community because of a senior (whose name happens to be Kris) who came out on Facebook as nonbinary (they/them) and later came out as a trans man (he/him). I have a genderfluid sibling who’s been out as a trans man and currently as a genderqueer butch. Our other brother, meanwhile, has been out as a binary trans man without adjustment.
To quote myself from an art post of sonas with different genders and pronouns (see: /tagged/sonaverse), I’ve wanted to explore how my own relationship with gender could’ve gone differently. I experience very little dysphoria, so there could be timelines where I never made it this far in finding myself, or even grown attached to my assigned gender. On the other hand, there could be alternates of myself with more dysphoria. I also wonder how much greater a role my body would have played if I had a different birth assignment. Would I feel more invested in feminizing myself had I happened to be amab?
There are other enbies for whom this would be more discomforting than enriching, but I personally find that branching out with my alternate sonas’ genders is a safe way to explore my relationship with own canon gender-- not to pick it apart, but to learn more about it. Chances are there are others who feel the same way too, just as there are others who feel the same way ask-the-rpg-3 may feel. (And as it happens, the post with this set of alternate sonas included one based on a dream in which I had an Xtale self.)
Which brings me back to Frisk and Chara. I’ve been an Underverse viewer since the first animation and can confirm that, to my recollection, he/him has been used exclusively for their Xtale counterparts and never for their canon selves. I am willing to believe Jakei when she says she means nothing enbyphobic by Xtale’s kids being masc. It’s true that people can do harmful things without meaning to, and I can recall one such instance of that before, but it’s an outdated receipt and she took it down later the same day. For the sake of not letting myself fall into toxic behavior, I allow people the right to improvement whether or not I decide I want to stick around long enough to see it for myself.
It’d be fair to say that no piece of media is for everyone. It’s fair to say that what one enby or binary trans person finds affirming or relatable could aggravate another’s dysphoria. We’re not a monolith, after all. That these fanworks are both fanart and original creations certainly complicates the matter, but I can respect that Jakei has not retconned the canon Frisk or Chara’s genders or pronouns, only her own au’s counterparts. Which is fair and not unique to the Undertale fandom.
I don’t usually step into discourse, so I’ll be stepping right back out after sharing my input. This doesn’t have to change how you feel about XT/UV, and if it’s still upsetting for you, it’ll be less of a headache to walk away than to continue engaging with it. UTMV is a large collective of fanworks and aus, too many to keep track of them all, and crossovers are a major part of how the community participates, so there’s always a chance of coming across ones that aren’t for you even in the ones you like. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to pick and choose the ones you engage with and set your boundaries with anyone who brings them into your personal space.

when asked about “my favourite 3 rei characters” — a very long thesis
rei’s given me an impression of a very carefree person, not too much attention on trends and very compatible with what’s in front of her work. for january 2021, she mentioned that she would want to go to rome because of augustus. for february 2022, she mentioned about learning tap dance. in june graph, she’s practising piano with noa for liszt. all these point to rei being as attached as possible to her characters to fit into the role
yet, by all means, there has to be some that stayed as favourite right? i know we can infer from otome each year, but i choose the three for the following reasons.
vladmir - nocturne (2014)
there’s truly a sentimental value in your first bow hall lead. in january 2021 new year show, she still chose nocturne’s song to zinaiida as one of her top 3 fav songs in her Otakara playlist, because it “reminds her of the simplicity in acting” as a Ken-6 which doesnt need to much thought for an 18 y/o Vladmir. in 2017 brilliant dreams stage, vladmir makes rei being associated by the audience with the colour white, which makes her happy because white is “*when it’s raw and original without any flourish of acting” (making this her first main trait of acting: purity) so it’s just a simple-minded boy that ken-6 rei has to act as. from the four ty speeches i’ve translated, she must rmb how it’s like to first receive stage attention as a performer but also being humble as a Hanagumisei in 2014, 100th anniversary which she acknowledges everyone’s part to play in including herself. the first lead role is always the most memorable for any actress i believe.
shoui - haikara-san 2017, 2020
this is the start of rei in shouja manga world. Oftentimes said by Rei, “*I’m often anxious how to make the character convincing. Take Ijuuin, he’s too perfect for a character, it’s not enough to show his good sides but also his vulnerable ones to show he’s also a human and has soft spotsl” “I also struggle to maintain the balance of manga and reality. It’s going to be difficult to reinvent a new concept to original manga fans and Takarazuka fans, and I’m always thinking how to act better.” This remains as a challenge for Rei in Poe Clan (where mentioned in Wowow premiere “Alan Twilight) is a character that has rebellious personality as a young kid, one that may be hard for me to connect too…” and especially in Hanayoridan, where Hanayoridan is such a famous series, the pressure to act as Domyouji and knowing the next top star is her, navigates her to find her acting style, which takes difficult pondering time. This later becomes the second main trait of Rei - trying to make acting convincing to connect to the audience.
Also, Rei loves Haikara-san 2017 atmosphere a lot that she feels how warm the audience are like “an enveloping happiness” as described to Maya Miki in the DX Talk.
jerry travers - top hat (2022)
the story of how Rei found Fred Astaire as her “spiritual mentor” began in forever gershwin (2013, kiki’s bow hall lead) performance where she literally played as fred astaire. in her takarazuka news corner, rei began with describing him as “a wonderful dancer”. we got more of her comments and insight on rei in london where she mentioned “it’s a cultural shock to see someone wear the kuroenbi so good and also lead a woman in dancing, showing the beauty of women…” no doubt playing as jerry travers gave her more time to research into being a gentleman or 紳士 and in her every performance, with otokoayku or musumeyaku, rei talks about these as keywords “vibes, breathing, communication” so eye contact, gestures and expressions are things that fans love her dancing in because either she’s enjoying the stage as a perfomer, she’s also giving time for partners to glow in whatever chemistry she’s trying to radiate. fred astaire has given her the third main acting trait: the essence of dancing with self or others.
and basically with these three, you can have other characters! it’s just this non-exhaustive formula from my observation in her shows:
type 1: pure acting (closer to her personality)
- chronosuke (genroku baroque rock, 2021)
- gaius octavius (augustus, 2021)
type 2: convincing acting (usually towards characters unlike her personality)
- domyouji (boys over flowers, 2019)
- jimmy winter (nice work if you can get it, 2021)
- daniel (melancolique gigolo, 2018)
- elio salvador (sorrowful cordoba, 2021)
- achilles (dance olympia, 2020)
type 3: dancing applies to all

Authors note:
So I've noticed that @papara-week reblogged my posts. And I'm really thankful for that!
But they got the days wrong. The tags always describe the day from before.
Because you see, I already posted a day before the week even started. I needed that extra chapter to start the story. With it I could include the tags better.
And the numbers on the pictures is for the chapters, not the day.
From now on there will also be split up chapters which will come in parts. I hope you understand that. ^^"
Warning:
This story contains blood, body horror, violence and curses. You have been warned.

Chapter 4, Part 1:
Good Nightmare
It was another busy night in the restaurant. People were chatting, eating and having fun. Everything seemed normal.
But who dared to look deeper, could see how angry the staff was. Angry at a man, serving the customers.
Papyrus could feel their stares on his back. It felt cold and the feeling burned itself down his spine.
But he had to ignore it. Work was his priority at this very moment. So he walked over to the next table.
There was a couple already waiting for him. A rich looking man and a woman, which looked more like a doll than a human.
"Good evening," he said with a soft smile. "May I take your orders?"
But the orders never came.
"I'm not here for food, you fool. I'm here for business. Here," he said, as he gave Papyrus an envelope. "Take this to your boss. And better make it quick, will you?"
Oh he really didn't like the tone of this guy. But very well. He'd play along for now.
"Of course, Sir. Anything else, before I go?"
He looked at the lady to his right. Her stare seemed distant and her eyes dull. It reminded him a little bit of Chara.
His little princess.
He wondered how she was doing. They haven't seen each other for weeks now.
Would she still want to see him, he wondered. Or did she grow tired already?
He couldn't blame her if she did.
"No, don't ask me even more questions, you good-for-nothing!" the rich guy responded angrily. "Just get going already!"
"Alright, Sir. Have a wonderful night then."
And hopefully I will never see your ugly face again, he thought.
With the envelope in his hands, he headed over to the kitchen. The chefs were all staring at him but he ignored it.
Nobody seemed to like him anymore.
He headed for another door and then a staircase. With each step, he held his breath more.
He just hoped his don wouldn't get mad. He hasn't talked to him in a while… And there was no new mission so far.
A rather bad sign.
At the end of the stairs, he reached a big, wooden door. It was black, but decorated with little carvings and gold ornaments. Quite the luxus, for a hole in the wall with a few planks over it.
Careful, he knocked on it.
Inside the room, you couldn't hear a sound. It was so silent, he could hear his own soul beating faster by the second.
"Who's there?" asked a deep, strong voice.
"It's me, Marcello. May I come in?"
With that, he could hear a chair moving and loud, heavy footsteps approaching the door. He held his breath. The door opened. And before him stood a tall, pig-like man.
But there was something weird about this. He had a big smile on his face.
Wasn't he angry?
"Mio figlio! You have returned, my boy!"
Before Papyrus could even react, Marcello swept him up into a big bear-hug.
"Papyrus! I really did miss you!"
"M-marcello-"
"Oh! That's right."
He let go of the now rather tiny looking skeleton, which had to catch its breath.
"You can't even breathe a little, once I lift you! Hahaha!"
He found it amusing. Well at least that meant there were no bad news.
"Come on in, figlio. There is a lot to discuss for us!"
Was there? Oh, maybe things actually would get complicated.
His don guided him to take a seat. He obeyed and waited patiently for his boss to sit down.
"So tell me, Papyrus. Why did you do it?" he now asked with a more serious tone.
He swallowed. Guess there was no point in lying now.
"When I talked to her father… Asgore... He was being so cold. He didn't even care anymore!"
"What do you mean by that, figlio?"
"He… he just shrugged and told me that he'd start preparing the funeral! Like it wouldn't be anything important! His own daughter and..."
The skeleton gritted his teeth.
He was so angry at this man. Asgore didn't deserve Chara at all! She was so fragile in his eyes. Like a bird with broken wings. And this man put a cage around her. Using her, for his own good.
He has seen her broken smile so often. How close she always stood to an edge. Like her life didn't matter anymore.
And it seemed like it didn't matter either to her father.
He'd rather swap her out with some dolled up city girl to market his company. If it wouldn't break Charas heart more, he would have ripped that mens throat right out of his body.
"I was so angry, Marcello. So, so angry. But instead of ending him, I… I brought the doctors the cure without any payment. I couldn't bear the thought of her… I'm sorry. I just…"
Was his face this wet the entire time? He lifted one of his hands.
When did he start crying?
Was it out of anger?
Or frustration?
"No, my boy. I think I understand."
Softly, he patted Papyrus' shoulder. The skeleton looked up to the taller monster. Tears were still streaming down his face.
"Feelings are difficult. Sometimes we fall in the depths of our soul, without wanting to. But sometimes we rise above ourselves and everyone else to regain a certain emotion," he told him, reassuring. "The others are angry at you, Papyrus. Because the deal did not work out. Because money was lost."
A smile returned to the bigger monster's features.
"But I'm not mad. No, I'm proud."
"Proud...?"
What? But he ruined a good deal. Like he said, a lot of money!
"You could have let that girl die. But you knew she was a victim of her father. Just a tool for us to get his money. And a tool for him to earn his. I think I understand the way you feel."
He was like a father. Somebody that finally cared. That gave him shelter and a home. Work. Food. Money. The things he needed so bad back then. And now even empathy for his twisted mindset.
"Grazie, padre," Papyrus whispered, with a returning smile. He closed his eyes and let the moment wash over him. It was nice to just be here and talk.
"Now, figlio. What is your reason to be here?"
Oh. He already forgot about that.
Careful, he gave Marcello the letter.
"The man that gave me this, is still waiting downstairs. I could get him for you, If you want me to."
"No need, my boy. I know what this letter is about. Tell him, I will meet him later at the old church, alright? Oh, and please take the next day off. I think you need a break."
A day off? That was new. He never even thought about taking a break. But he was so emotional unstable at the moment... So he would gladly take it.
"Thank you, Marcello! I will. But make sure you'll take a break as well, alright?"
"Will do, figlio. Will do."
After they said their farewell, he stood up and returned to the exit. Gentle, he closed the big, black door.
Marcello smiled, to a photograph on his desk.
"Oh, Il mio amore. He really found love."
And the woman in the picture smiled back.
THANK YOU FOR READING PART 1 OF CHAPTER 4!
Marcello turned out to be one of my favorite side characters. He just kind of adopted Papyrus as he started working for him.
Just to ease some confusion:
figlio = son
padre = father
mio amore = my love (a beloved person)
I need to write more of these two. Their vibe just gives me so much life. Wholesome, himbo dad and struggling son. <3
HAPPY SHIPPING ^^

Ok since this is where I post my fandom stuff now, I'm just gonna write it here. But I miss Sumikeke from LL Superstar so much lol
I just finished rereading one of my favorite fics ever about them and it's such a masterpiece. Still so amazing today. It contains so much yearning and feelings and depth that even though it's like at least 30k words long, it ends way too quickly and I'd happily read more and more.
It's not like I can't keep shipping Sumikeke now, but I was going through the tag again and another tumblr user put it really well: their dynamic and characterization was absolutely ruined in season 2, which is also why I felt really unpleasant watching it and had no idea how to react to the canon confession scene. It's nice that it happened at all, sure, but by that time, my love for the ship had already begun to fade (for reasons) and s2 seemed to just confirm my annoyances, frustrations, and fears.
I loved Sumikeke though. Don't get me wrong. I actually don't regret any of the time I spent on them at all, and I truly had so much fun indulging in this love of mine. They were great and brilliant, and I know people have different feelings about it (even going as far as calling it abusive :c ), but in my opinion, there was a method and an art to smkk that I tried to convey when I spent those times in college writing actual fanfiction for them lol.
First of all, and this is a big reason why I fell out of love with it, smkk is a bickering couple, but there's a line and nuance you need to have, otherwise it does turn abusive and boring and not romantic at all. When I first watched season 1, I was drawn in by how kind and gentle Sumire could be (big sister-like, taking care of Keke or giving her soft looks) and I latched onto that immediately. I dunno how fast it took to show up, but maybe by like episode 3, I was already eyeing them and wondering what kind of dynamic we'd have there.
As for Keke's antagonism towards Sumire, there was an obvious reason for that. Sumire was looking down on and using Liella to bolster herself, but to Keke, Liella and school idols were everything. It's a natural conflict that arises from people whose goals and opinions differ and who obviously clash over ideology and dreams. Keke would tease or snub Sumire, but it never crossed into actual bullying or anything, last I saw. Just the expected bickering between someone who actually might not like the other and Sumire, who knows she messed up and tries to make up for it, but it's fine if relationships aren't all sunshine and rainbows. Actually, I used to really love the tsundere trope and tsundere-like couples, so when I shipped smkk, I liked them in a more tsundere way. As the anime progressed, their relationship clearly improved and even had plot relevance and all that, and I was really impressed by all of it and fell in love and wanted to give back as a fan by making as much delicious smkk content as possible.
The method to the madness is Keke is childish, demanding, and even annoying maybe (I liked Keke tho lol), but Sumire loves her and since they're teenagers, they eventually grow out of such childish behavior/bickering but the fact remains that they love each other and it's really sweet and cute to see. Sumire was my fave Superstar chara (probably still is? idk), and I just looved her love for Keke and completely enjoyed coming up with story ideas that would showcase that. It's liking someone and having a crush on them even if they're kinda annoying but since you like them, you can look past that. It's that kind of love...!
But anyway. To be quite frank, the fandom ruined smkk for me, and I'm sad I let it happen. If smkk is like 50% arguing and 50% fluff (which is kinda a high percentage, I'll give you that), the fandom kicked it up a notch where it was like 90% arguing and 10% just deciding to make out after saying super cruel/dumb things to each other. I saw a lot of unpleasant things I really disliked (including straight-up immoral SA stuff) and I saw that my excitement from checking the tag eventually turned into aversion and eventually dislike/annoyance/irritation/frustration/anger.
Season 2 having them continue to bicker for bad reasons didn't help things and it felt like the anime was on the fandom's side in that regard. It's fine to give the fandom fanservice, obviously, but that's when I kind of lost interest for good and moved on.
But I truly had a fun time loving smkk, and it had so much potential and was so good. I really truly enjoyed it and that's why I miss it. I think with the release of SIF2 and seeing smkk in there, I was reminded a bit of my old fire (my old love), but in short, it's really unfortunate when fandom (or the show itself) ruins something for you.
I could say the same about my immense love of Shioriko and how I was really disappointed how they wrote and treated her (in the anime and side materials like Nijiyon too), but part of that's personal bias. The true Shioriko I like is probably SIFAS Shioriko and the other Shioriko's exist as their own entities, but since they're all supposed to be the same chara, it's hard to love her in the exact same way if you get what I mean, especially when I had such high hopes and expectations. It's ok though: such is life.
Anyway, I obviously like loving and affectionate ships a lot more than, like, bickering ships. Smkk was just special to me because when two girls act like that canonically, it's a lot easier to claim they're into each other or hiding feelings for each other. I also want to add that I liked the idea of Keke being embarrassed of her feelings for Sumire and that translating a bit into aggression-- obviously as Keke gets older or her feelings are reciprocated or her friends accept her for who she is, she gets less teenage-y about it.
That was a trip down memory lane though. I really care for LL, even though it breaks my heart sometimes. "Expectation leads to resentment", they say, so maybe I shouldn't expect anything at all?
I miss these girls and hope they get better writing. I'll still love yuri and shipping girls for as long as I live xD

Yuletide Letter 2023
Hello, friend!
I’m excited to have you join me for this Yuletide Exchange! I hope you find something that resonates with you here and thank you so much for taking this on! Feel free to mix and match as necessary; in all cases, all listed characters do not have to be included. I am 100% open to treats of all kinds, visual/non-writing included; they’ve been marked open for this exchange always.
You can always check out previous letters if the prompts here don’t grab you too. And, as always, please know that my order is alphabetical and doesn't mean I want any one canon or any one prompt over any other. If I've requested it for this exchange, it means I would be ecstatic to receive anything from any of them. My previous letters are also still good if there are prompts that speak to you from there!
Candy Hearts Exchange 2023 - Yuletide Letter (2022)
I am also azurefishnets on Ao3.
LIKES:
worldbuilding
sensory details (textures and smells especially)
unusual interactions (anything from slice of life to full adventure!)
puns and wordplay
cool symbolism & unexpected parallels
relationship level ups, whether that means platonic bonding or friends-to-more, etc
non-mundane AUs (no coffee shop, school, etc)
fandom crossovers or fusions (but taken seriously, not cracky unless specifically requested)
missing moments
emotional support/intimacy
demonstrations of physical caring/loyalty
OKAY WITH:
any tense
any amount of plot or none
out-of-the-ordinary story structures
any amount of dialogue from none to screenplay
character explorations
characters appearing that aren’t requested as long as it doesn’t go against my DNWs
DNWS:
non-requested romantic relationships, or ways of writing requested relationships as infidelity
hurt without comfort
underage relationships, non-canon children
pandemic stuff / terminal illness
any kinds of consent issues as regards developing a relationship
FINAL FANTASY VI
Celes
Terra
Edgar
Sabin
I wasn't expecting to see FFVI back on the list this year but the rules change means I'm going to lean hard into prompting More, since at any given time I’m probably thinking about this game. So many questions and trails left to explore! I still love the cast, the setting, the various unanswered questions, especially surrounding the War of the Magi, relics, and the Warring Triad. Any of these questions explored in context of prompts and characters would be exciting. The World of Ruin, with its reopening of old wounds, is especially interesting to me. Hidden secrets from an obscured past… please lean into this stuff!
This group is probably my most used party (min-maxers don't @ me, I like who I like) and I like it as much for the implied party dynamics as their combat usefulness! Estranged but reunited brothers becoming friends with the weird war crimes magic women is just unparalleled to me. Any moments between any two of them or three of them or four of them in any of the places where they actually could be in canon (or, if they are somehow traveling together post-canon) would be just wonderful. I particularly like caves, ruins, and/or links to the world that was...or the world that was before that, during the War of the Magi. A moment while escaping Kefka's Tower together would be cool, or post-canon reluctant adventurer Terra getting dragged along on some trip by the enthusiastic brothers (like maybe some found War of the Magi ruins or something? Beyond the ancient castle, that is. Or books from the Figaro library? I'd love to see ways Terra could reconnect with some aspect of her heritage via history either known or discovered). Or formerly magic ladies relearning how to do extremely mundane tasks together. Or, just, these extremely powerful and forceful people and then, there's Terra who is also extremely powerful but is also not terribly forceful...the other three might enjoy assertiveness training with her (whether she herself would enjoy that is up to you). Or I'm always happy to see these characters aging and trying to change the world in different ways this time...
Fandom DNW: Any romance between these characters. A lot of focus on slave crown times for Terra. Kefka as redeemable.
GHOST TRICK: PHANTOM DETECTIVE
Alma
Cabanela
Jowd
What I love about this triad, in both the romantic and platonic senses, is the sense of tension and balance; they're always kind of orbiting around each other and the game isn't shy about symbolic parallels, so they're just this incredible push-pull that just so happens to include a frankly amazing amount of (sometimes pretty unrequited) loyalty from Cabanela and, post-game, a lot of what I imagine as extremely awkward gratitude/heretofore unrealized attraction (???) on Jowd's part. Alma just happens to neatly fit in the middle as a fulcrum and (I'd hope anyway) sometime moderator/instigator, and how lucky that both she and Jowd have two hands!
As far as writing them goes, for prompt purposes you can split them, you can write just two of them or one of them and that’s just fine, as long as no infidelity is implied if and when you go in a romantic relationship route. I’m also OK with Cabanela being the world’s most fantastically annoying yet fantastically loyal friend to Alma/Jowd, if romance isn't your bag. All I really ask is that you put them in situations and make them figure it out (and possibly kiss. If so inclined. You know.)
If you're looking for prompts, I'm always excited for worldbuilding, although it's not specifically nominated, but there are so many things about this world they live in that are so interesting! There are robots! There are ghosts! There's some kind of cold war??? There are tiny submarines that can be run by only ten crewmen! I just think there are tons of situations you could throw my OT3 (or, I say conscientiously, my OTP+1) at. But slice of life situations are also extremely good, and I'm happy for fluff any time.
If you prefer visual prompts as a writing starter, I'm particularly taken with these excellent OT3 dynamic charts from @mcnuggy, especially F1, G2, K2 or K3, but really feel free to choose from your heart if you use these! (Jowd being pink (of course), Alma being blue (of course), and Cabanela being yellow (sorry, Cabs! They didn't have white or red!))
Fandom-specific DNWS: Cabanela & Yomiel friendship or reconciliation, having the old timeline be remembered by everyone, unexamined xenophobia if writing any person with blue skin.
LEGEND OF HEROES: CROSSBELL DUOLOGY
Any
I love this whole series! The worldbuilding, the lore, the fantastic slice of life moments… I'm Crossbell-only this time but I'm always fine with pulling in lore from the other arcs, although please mind my DNWs! But anyway, I especially love the interesting locations in Crossbell. The Stargazers’ Tower, the Temple of the Moon, the Ancient Battleground… feel free to explore some of the worldbuilding here! Or go more slice of life: I love the vibe and look of Armorica so much, but I'm also very fond of the west side of Crossbell City, Downtown, the harbor...
I'm fine with anyone or any group of someones from the tag set, and I'm fine with any of them being platonically friendly with each other but no ships here please. As far as dynamics go, I'm really interested in KeA's powers, as it were, as the Zero Child, versus KeA's powers of just being an adorable cutie. For instance: Dudley & KeA growing a reluctant (on his part) friendship, or Sergei becoming de facto uncle before he even really had time to register it... I also like, very much, the growth the SSS experiences in learning to make functional and caring found-familial relationships. Any moment exploring that, and/or exploring the SSS's bonds with each other rather than only theirs with Lloyd, would be great!
Fandom-specific DNWs: Romantic relationships between any of the tagged characters, spoilers from Reverie or Daybreak.
SABLE
Captain Singh
SARIN
Sable
Simoon
Worldbuilding
What I very much enjoyed about Sable, beyond the exploring and collecting elements (although those wonderful locations to explore!! The Eyrie! The Crystal Plateau! The Bridge of the Betrayed!! You could worldbuild me right into delight by merely exploring the setting of Sable and I would love it. Anyway...) was the huge selection of unsolved mysteries, from the revelations at the Watch, the presence of the multitude of remains from the wars against the Wyrms (not to mention the implications about Wyrms and hoverbikes), the Hicaric remains' entire deal, the Chum Queen, the Mask Casters, SARIN...nothing is ever fully explored here and I love that tension of what the player discovers vs what Sable just knows and accepts about her world. As said before, you could worldbuild any amount of things and make implications about Midden and I would be delighted, but if you can also somehow capture that feeling of Sable (or some other Glider) exploring that communal memory and experience. It's really implied that the Gliders don't and can't discover anything particularly new in this little corner of Midden--but the Chums may belie that, at least for Sable? It feels like she has an entirely unexplored path if she goes down the Chum Priestess road.
As far as actual prompts go, there's so much I want to know still that I hardly know where to begin. It was a devastating realization that Simoon had to go back to the Ibexii tribes; it truly felt like Sable had to say goodbye to absolutely everything she knew in order to become an adult. If it's like that for every Glider, it's no wonder that some might choose never to return rather than formally give that up. What might one of those wandering Gliders' lives entail? What does one do when your only purpose is never to have to let go of being a child but in doing so one has to truly let go of everything? It's kind of like Peter Pan and I wonder if there are diegetic tales of wandering Gliders used to teach lessons.
There's also the question of Simoon and her possible sentience; what does she remember of her former companions? When she is reset back to basic parts does she lose that experience? Does she feel any connection to the Wyrms, or to the Hicarics?
I would also like to know more about Captain Singh and SARIN. What was their relationship like as the humans had to fight for survival on Midden, as they had to adapt and learn to live with the Perpetual and the presumable radiation/dust which posed them such a threat that they adopted the mask traditions as first a protectant and then a matter of culture? SARIN's overseen so many generations--did it know when it was forgotten? Does a hologram dream of electric ships?
Finally, I'm awfully interested (and pretty saddened) in what drives these people to maintain a capitalist economy when the land is so harsh and they would be much better served with a mutual aid and support system that does not require currency in order to function...they are so few in number and resources are so sparse. Just...why? It seriously broke my heart when I realized that the Ibexii live where they live because they can't afford anything else. Simply? That's fucked up and I want to know more.
SEA OF STARS
Garl
Valere
Zale
Worldbuilding
Oh, this game grabbed me and it grabbed me hard. Of course the parallels and references to Chrono Trigger and other classic RPGs got me but I also got grabbed pretty hard by Garl/Valere/Zale. Like...the sheer loyalty of them to each other. The saving of a simple clay cookie jar for nearly ten years in the hope they'd see each other again. The sacrifice. BOTH sacrifices. The tearful parting and equally (on my part anyway) teary-eyed reunion, only to be literally star-crossed lovers for most of the rest of Garl's life except for that one day a year and then Solen and Luana doing their immortal duty until they are, at last, forgotten (Although I have my own thoughts on The Messenger continuity tbh). The parallels and paradox of godlike immortality against someone who has seen death and come back. That's one experience they can never share, and man the tension could be delicious... Anyway. Yeah. T-T Do you see my vision. Do you understand their tragedy.
Um, anyway, I'm also really really interested in the world Studio Sabotage appears to be building here. I watched a longplay of The Messenger and I'm catching up with the ARG and man there is a ton of connecting lore! But I'm definitely more interested, at least for now, in the present and near future of both worlds that we see in Sea of Stars. The presence of Garl and the diverging timeline Re'shan created suggests that they're now heading toward a different future than the Messenger's...
Anyway. Exploring one of those birthdays where they're all getting older but only Garl looks it...some kind of slice of life or small adventure there would be cool. Or Mirth over the years? Or Mooncradle, now that there are no more Solstice Warriors to cradle...how does Garl change things there...? Or, heck, vignettes from the Garl & Wentworth world tour after Valere and Zale leave! He barely got to see the Sky Kingdom and that's just unfair.... Or maybe stuff as Garl nears the end of his second life and they meet for the last time... I'm OK with leaning into a bit more tragedy here because it's just so damn compelling to me to explore their changing dynamic over time.
Also, if you enjoy visual prompts, the same dynamics charts from earlier might be helpful here! No specific thoughts on color choices here but I do like Valere and Zale getting to have more character and life than we really see in-game. Them getting to be silly or teasing would be a welcome shift from how serious they have to be all the time (and man, isn't that a tragedy in itself? They never even really got to be kids or even non-Solstice Warriors at all, despite what Erlina and Brugaves tried to achieve with their (really stupid) plan. Aephorul truly won there...)
Or, if you do not want to write the triad, please feel free to lean hard into worldbuilding. I'm fascinated by the Queen That Was, the abandoned bird cult buildings, the Lost Ones enclave... the Docarri ruins, the Clockwork Castle, the swamp... all the locations are honestly so good and so compelling you could do anything set in them or exploring their purposes and I'd be very happy!
Fandom-specific DNWs: Valere and Zale being interchangeable paper-dolls, writing them as though there is huge age-difference after Valere and Zale stop visibly aging, Valere/Zale & Garl, any of the villains (if they even come up) being treated without nuance or acknowledgement of the complexities therein.
I can’t wait to see whatever you do! Thanks again for reading and see you on Yuletide!

may i request jealousy headcanons of diluc + jean and childe + ganyu? maybe someone getting a bit too ballsy and wouldn't take a hint/no from you and they become too creepy so the charas step in to help you out (and tell them you are taken by them)
I didn’t know you could get jealous
Warning -> mildly possessive/jealous character, overly touchy stranger* (grabbing wrist, holding waist, attempt to cup cheek, attempt to kiss)
Includes: Diluc, Ganyu, Jean
Character X GN Reader | Anthology
Tumblr media
Diluc
Relationships rely on trust - and to be trusting is to allow oneself to be vulnerable, which, after everything that’s happened in his life, that’s a hard thing to accomplish
It’s not that he intends to be overprotective or intensely jealous, he just can’t help the thought of you being taken by someone else - you’ve finally chosen him and there is a worry in the back of his mind that he’ll lose you too
You were always friendly, he knew that when he first met you. For the longest time, he had no idea you were even capable of getting frustrated toward others until he caught you alone in the tavern and listened to your rant about a recent event that bothered you. It was nice, comforting almost to see the humanity in your veins and irritation on your face - in fact, he thought it was kind of cute.
He knew that if push came to shove, you’d be able to handle almost anything on your own. Of course, he still worried about you when you went off on some dangerous expedition or tried to solve a difficult problem, but you always came back to him in one piece.
It still didn’t sit well with him when people were being overly touchy toward you, in fact, he hated the thought of someone else’s hands resting on the skin he loved so much, but he knew how to keep his jealousy under wraps … or so he thought.
He wished you well as the two of you parted at the city gates. The both of you had things to attend to - responsibilities never falter no matter how badly you want to put them off
Several hours had gone by and Diluc still hadn’t heard from you. Wondering if you had gotten caught up in something, he figured it would be good to check in and perhaps offer you some assistance
Making his way to the Adventurer's Headquarters, he caught sight of you walking (or trying to) down the short steps to the courtyard. He couldn’t help but notice the person following after you, the way their hands reached for your wrist, how they pulled you back and attempted to touch you in places that didn’t belong to them
“Listen, I told you I’m not interested.” Your tone was distressed and slowly slipping to irritation as you pushed against their chest in an attempt to create space.
“Just give me a chance - please?” They reached for your cheek, their fingers grazing your skin and the feeling made you even more upset than you were before. “I know I can treat you the way you deserve to be treated.” They moved in to strike, their lips pursed and, in a desperate attempt to get away, you stumbled backwards down the steps.
Slipping from their grasp, you flung your arms out to catch yourself but when you ran into something sturdy and warm, you immediately reacted to see what you collided with.
“Diluc!” In surprise and relief, you dug your fingers into his arms, the arms that caught you just in time.
“Are you alright?” He asked, his voice more strained than normal, but the touch he offered you was beyond considerate.
“Yes, I’m so grateful you’re here actually.” You nearly melted into him when his fingers grazed your cheek, his thumb running over the skin as if he were wiping something away.
“Are you okay?! Did you twist anything or --” You heard their voice grow as they made their way toward you but when Diluc’s arm moved quickly away from yours, you turned to investigate. “Hey … that kind of hurts.”
Diluc’s gloved hand gripped their forearm, you could sense the level of pressure he was giving from the way the fabric of their shirt bunched up underneath it. “It’s discourteous to touch others without their consent.” His voice seemed deeper than normal, angrier.
“Take your own advice then.” They spit back and with a huff Diluc released them, his fingers curling into a fist as his arm settled at his side, the hand resting against you seemed to grow in temperature. You’d never seen him this angry before and you wondered if something happened while the two of you were separated. “You should probably let them go too … I’m sure they don’t want to be handled by someone like you.” They spoke again, wringing and fussing with the fabric of their clothes.
You looked away from them and toward Diluc, his jaw clenched and eyes narrowed, but he still looked like the man you loved. He must have felt your gaze because when he tilted his head to look down at you the fluttering in your heart grew with intensity. “I don’t mind … I mean, if you want to touch me I d-don’t um …” You felt your face heat up and quickly you averted your gaze; you wondered if your embarrassment could make holes in his jacket.
The feeling of his fingers running over your ear only made yours desperately search for anything of his to hold onto. It was the most public display of affection you’d gotten from him, maybe ever, and the openness of his display made your legs shake. He pressed against the bottom of your chin and pulled your head to face away from him and the last thing you saw clearly was the expression on the stranger's face as Diluc’s lips pressed against your cheek.
“A-are you two a … couple?” They asked, shocked and stutteringly.
“Yes, and I’m not one to share my things.” Diluc’s voice shook you to the core, his deep, serious tone dripped into your ear as he spoke - he must have been looking directly at you because your ears were practically on fire at this point.
“.. F-fine, whatever. I’m sure it won’t last anyway.” They didn’t stick around to hear a reply and, before long, the two of you were alone.
It was silent for a while, the sound of the wind the only noticeable thing until the final straw was added to your already overworked body.
“Y/N?” He loosened his grip but with the calling of your name made your legs give way, luckily, he quickly caught you before you hit the ground. “Ah -- what happened?” His normal tone had returned, the intimidating and powerful voice gone and replaced with the sweet one you knew.
“I - uh, you were d-different back there and …”
“Oh, I apologize if I scared you.”
“Nope, didn’t scare me …” He looked at you, eyes scanning as he tried to understand what was going on, and then it clicked. The quickness of your breath, the way you were fanning your face and holding onto him so intensely, the shyness of your eyes … it clicked.
Coughing and covering his mouth with the back of his hand, he averted his gaze and hoped his cheeks didn’t give away his embarrassment. “I-I’ll give you a minute, should I back away?” You shook your head and the pounding in his heart grew. He felt relieved that you weren’t afraid of him, but now he had some other issue gnawing at the back of his mind, though that would be a matter to address in private.
Ganyu
Sweet, precious thing - she has no idea what jealousy is in the first place
The level of trust and understanding - or maybe misunderstanding, miss-noticing? - that this girl is capable of - she’s a cinnamon roll and has no ill-bone in her body
Still, she cares so deeply for you and always wants to make sure you are comfortable in any situation which means she’d take notice if you were upset or stressed about something
Ganyu loves to watch you work through problems, find answers, and come up with the best way to move forward. She’s motivated by your work and knows that when things get challenging you’ll figure out how to overcome it. It’s one of the reasons she fell for you.
She never noticed or paid much attention to your interactions before. Most people were respectful to you, they listened to your knowledge and advice, they were there to get assistance and you were there to provide. A hug or kiss on the hand were common practices by the people of Liyue - a sign of respect and appreciation - so it was never a cause for concern.
Until …
She had been working forever it seemed. It was a nightmare to get all the documents in order, but she had made a contract and wasn’t about to let it go unfulfilled
So when the clock struck well past the hour, she found herself in a tizzy to wrap up her work and head out to find you -- it wasn’t unlike you to go to one of the local nighttime hang-out spots after work. You explained it was a way to impress the patrons and perhaps get information that could give you a leg-up in the future
With a sigh, she stacked all the items into their respectful locations before working on cleaning the inkwells and pens. It was a common routine but today it seemed to take longer than normal. When she was finally free, she bound down the steps toward the places you typically would be found.
The nighttime air was lovely, warm but held a cool chill from the ocean waves. It didn’t take her long to find you, since most of the city was open-air seating, only the fanciest restaurants were held indoors. It was your laugh that drew her in, it drifted down the red steps in lovely melodies - for the hundredth time, she wondered if you weren’t also an adeptis with a laugh like that.
“You are very kind, but I’m going to have to decline.” Reaching the top of the steps, she was you in the corner and was able to quickly pick up the conversation as there weren’t very many patrons out tonight.
“Come on, I can make it worth your while.” Their hand reached for your waist but you dipped out of the way.
“I’m really not interested.” Your smile seemed strained, she’d never known you to have that kind of smile before.
“Don’t be shy, I’ll be fun - if we leave now I can --”
“I said, NO.” All pleasantries were dropped and the ease of mind that Ganyu normally inhabited suddenly slipped. Her stomach flipped, her mind reeled, and her body moved on her own.
With a loud clatter, Ganyu pushed her way in between the two of you. Her hands thrusting against the stranger before quickly wrapping around your body and yanking you backward. “No touching!” She shouted, and in an instant the chatter on the balcony stilled.
“Ah-Ganyu??” You asked confused, hands resting against her arms as she held onto you protectively.
“T-they told you no, so … so …” Her face was hard to see, but you could tell from her voice that she was starting to get embarrassed.
“What in the world -- who are you?” They reached for a chair that had been knocked toward them in the outburst, their frustration apparent as they shoved it out of their way.
“I’m -- we’re -- they’re mine, you can’t have them!” She finally burst, the build-up so shocking it was like she released an explosion of cold air around her.
“The hell?”
“I told you, I’m not interested, I’m already in a relationship.” You tapped Ganyu’s hands and helped her stand straighter, but she didn’t let go of you. Both of her hands reached for yours and cupped them protectively like you might slip from her fingers if she didn’t hold on tight enough.
“Seriously!?” They shouted, rather rudely and drew more attention than you wanted.
“Yes, now - let’s go Ganyu.” Quickly, the two of you made your way down the steps and away from prying eyes. She didn’t let go of you the whole time and any time you got too far away she sped up to stay close. When you were finally alone, or more alone than before, you turned to check on her. “Are you oka--Woah!”
Her body collided with yours and immediately your heart began to pound in your chest. “I didn’t like that.”
“Didn’t like what?? The confrontation?”
“No -- they touched you and … I don’t know what happened but … I didn’t want them to take you.”
“Ar -- were you jealous?” The thought never crossed your mind, Ganyu being jealous!? It made you almost giddy but you did your best to keep it in.
“I don’t know, I’ve never felt that way before.” You laughed and she pulled away from you, the expression on your face only increasing the level of joy in your body. “D-don’t laugh.”
“I’m not laughing at you; you’re just cute.” Pressing your nose to hers you rubbed against it before placing a kiss on your cheek.
“I didn’t like that feeling …” She said, eyes closed as she relaxed against your kiss.
“It wasn’t intentional, but if you react like this … I might find ways to make you jealous again.” She wanted to protest, you could tell, but the cuteness of the evening had spilled into your heart and without holding back, you pressed a giddy kiss against her lips and laughed as she nearly melted in your hands.
Jean
Proper, composed, logical - all of these traits and more help define the acting grandmaster but ever since you came into her life she’s had difficulties in finding those traits
When you come to visit her she becomes flustered, nervous as if she has no idea what do to
When you offer her affection she turns the color of Klees dress, if it’s unexpected she just might shut down for a moment until fully rebooting back to a normal
It’s adorable and perfect, and there are desires in you to see just how out of character she can become -- teasing, flirting, or touching her just to see how shy she can get - but you often forget that she’s still a woman with capabilities far surpassing most
She knows you, everything about you she’s learned from experiencing you, being next to you, watching you, and talking with you. She can read you like the back of her hand because it’s her job to know, it’s her responsibility to be observant.
This means she can tell when you are in a positive mood, and even better, when you’re in a negative mood - if something is causing you distress she can easily find it and will make it a priority to address even if she already has other things on her plate. For those she cares about, for those she loves, she will tackle mountains if she needs to.
She knows you’re capable of handling things on your own and there are times when she’s intrusted you with items she’d normally handle herself, but everyone has their weakness and she’s soon learning that you are hers
It was one of those days where she actually found the time to patrol the city. Normally, she’d stay cooped up in her office until the later hours of the night only to fall into bed next to you. She’d expect the lecture in the morning about how she needed to rest, at this point, it was the way you showed her how much you cared for her wellbeing.
“You’re always preoccupied with the stresses of others, if you don’t take care of yourself, you’ll be of no use to anyone.” You said with a huff, brushing her bangs with your fingers before crossing your arms again.
“That’s why I have you? Don’t I?” She pulled you in, her hands softly caressing your waist as she examined your neck with her lips.
“I can’t always … be there -- Jean, not fair.”
The thought made her blush but her expert skills of controlling her emotions quickly turned off the physical response in her cheeks.
The tightly packed streets were always comforting to her and quickly she walked through one of the smaller alleyways only to catch sight of you in the middle of a conversation with someone she didn’t really recognize. It wasn’t impossible for her to not know every face in Mondstadt, but it was uncommon. Her keen sense picked up the conversation long before she approached.
“Did you not understand me? I said back off.” It was the tone of your voice that tightened the muscles in her body, the rarity of it making her more cautious.
“I know you’re just being shy, it’s okay. I don’t bite … unless you want me to.” They took a step closer and you too one back not knowing that the wall was getting dangerously close.
“I’d rather go out with a slime than you -- at least they can take a hint.” Your back collided with the wall and the sudden fear that flashed across your face told Jean everything she needed to know.
Their hand pressed against the stone as they closed in on you, your hands pressed against them, and just when you were about to drop down in an attempt to flee, a hand landed on their shoulder.
“Excuse me, but you are causing a disturbance and as the acting grandmaster I cannot allow this to continue.” She kept her tone even, even though the grip she placed on their shoulder was intense.
“I’m sorry, who?” Their hand slipped from the wall, attention now falling onto Jean, and gave you just enough time to walk toward her. You’d seen her become serious, but you’d never felt the intensity of that now and as soon as you were safely behind her your eyes fell to the arm she extended to separate you and them.
“Let me properly introduce myself. I am Jean, acting Grandmaster of the Knights of Favonius. I do not accept ill-will in or outside these city walls.”
“Okay, well we were having a private conversation …”
“It seemed you were forcing yourself onto them, as a citizen of this city, and especially as my partner, I will not sit idly by and let you bring harm to them.”
“What? Are you serious, the two of you are dating?” They asked, looking past Jean and to you, their arms crossed and eyebrows furrowed as if the notion was completely ridiculous.
“It’s true, I told you I was in a relationship.”
“I thought you were just playing hard to get … what a disappointment, we could have had some fun.” They shrugged, clearly irritated by the news, but other than that they didn’t seem to push the subject. “I don’t need this anyway …” Quickly, they made their way down the alley before disappearing behind the tall buildings.
One of the knights on patrol caught sight of the commotion and after Jean requested they follow after the person just to ‘make sure they didn’t get into any trouble,’ the two of you were left alone in the shade of the city walls.
Jean’s attention was fixated on the direction of the stranger, her mind seemed elsewhere no matter how many times you called her name. Carefully, you reached to touch her face and without any resistance she allowed you to control her head.
“Hey, come back to me.” You whispered, eyes concerned as they met hers.
“I must apologize.”
“For what?” Your hand took hers and the grip she had was more tense than normal.
“I let my emotions get the better of me.” You chuckled and the shift in her expression only made you laugh even more. “What is so funny?”
“I’ve never seen you calmer in my life! What do you mean you let your emotions get the better of you?”
“Oh - was I calm?”
“Yes, the ever calm and respectful Jean shows her face again.” There was a pause, a quiet moment as you tried to breathe through the laughter. Was it nerves, happiness, shock, you weren’t sure but even when her hand cupped your face you didn’t stifle the pleasant vocalizations.
“I am glad you perceived me as calm because I felt like my heart was going to explode.”
“Really?” You pressed your index finger to the corner of your eye to catch a joyful tear from falling and didn’t notice that she took a step closer to you.
“Truly. I -- was unhappy at the closeness between the two of you.”
“Were you jealous? Can you even get jealous?” She was so close, it was like you just noticed her, and with the wall pressing against your back once again, this time your heart beats for another reason.
“It seems I’ve felt many things because of you. I’m not infallible.”
“Could have fooled me.” You whispered until your voice was cut off by the lips of the grandmaster.
