tbh i think [name] would cry when seeing him off for the first time.

they would try to hold it together solely for muichiro's peace of mind, offering him a shaky smile and, in a trembling voice, wishing him well as he departs from their mansion.

there's no way seeing one's tsuguko off is an easy experience. each hashira surely has to wonder if their respective student will return or not, if they have taught their student well enough, if their first mission will be easy or go terribly wrong.

there's just... so, so many things that could go wrong.

while mui is gone, i think the cloud hashira would sit and nitpick everything they taught him. they'd worry that it wasn't enough. they know he is impossibly strong for his age, but...

strength does not inherently equal experience. a demon slayer can have all the biological advantages that they want, but if they don't have adequate experience, all that strength will mean absolutely nothing.

meanwhile, mui feels a distinct sense of discomfort and unrest after he leaves.

something about leaving doesn't sit well with him. he doesn't want to leave. he wants to go back, or he wants them to come along.

(he does not understand why at the time, but a few years later, he'll begin to understand that he simply didn't want to leave them on the brink of tears like that.)

in the end, though, muichiro returns after only a few days in one piece, completely unharmed except for a few minor scratches.

his face might not change when his beloved mentor immediately brings him into a tight embrace, but the way his body relaxes into their arms is telling enough.

"welcome back, tokito-kun," they'd whisper, cheek pressed to the top of his head.

"...i'm home, [surname]-sama."

home... the implications of that statement would make their heart burst. indeed, he is home if he's with his mentor. if he's with them. they squeeze him just a little tighter after that.

"[surname]-sama, i can't breathe."

"ah?! i'm sorry! sorry, i didn't mean it!"

mui honestly would just let them dote on him.

they'd gently brush his hair and pull it back into a braid, sending a distinct feeling of nostalgia through his foggy mind.

they'd clean his wounds, opting to take him to the butterfly estate if anything seemed wrong or infected.

they'd just dote on him.

he does enjoy the attention and he realizes that it helps them feel better, so... he just lets them do whatever they feel is necessary.

the attention is really comforting for him, though. he's so young. he shouldn't be fighting demons at this age, and yet, he is. [name] knows this.

to make up for it, they spoil him in all the attention someone so young would need to grow properly.

"So... how did your mission go? I suppose it must have gone rather well," they mused with a gentle smile, gingerly flushing a small yet somewhat deep scratch on his cheek with a saline solution that they'd borrowed from those at the Butterfly Estate. "You're hardly hurt."

"Yes. It went fine," he confirmed in a murmur, doing his best not to move in order not to disrupt their work. "...I thought I was fast enough."

"Hm?"

"I thought I was fast enough to avoid being scratched."

"You did your best," they chuckled, securing a small patch over the scratch to keep any bacteria out, "and believe me, this is nothing. The kinds of injuries you can get in this line of work... this is nothing, really. It's fine. Just make sure it doesn't get infected."

Backing away from his face, they looked over their work before nodding firmly. "Alright. I'm done."

Slowly, the boy raised a hand to his cheek, fingertips ghosting over the freshly-dressed wound. Some kind of foreign warmth spread through his chest. He shifted in place, timidly avoiding their eyes. "...Thank you."

"Hehe. Of course." Not a single thing got past them, it seemed. They brought no attention to his sudden embarrassment, however. "Anyways, are you hungry? Kanroji-san invited us to come out with her to this place a few towns over. I hear they're really good."

He simply listened to them ramble, nodding along absentmindedly when they asked for his input.

He liked their voice.

It was comforting.

I know the no comment policy is Quackity's whole thing and I do think in many cases it's the smartest move

But in this case I really don't think it's a good idea, I worry that it's only gonna make things worse. This isn't just a bunch of drama or some kind of public scandal, this is an actual structural problem with the project, and Quackity himself obviously knows that too

It's fine if he doesn't talk to the public but at least some kind of message to the ex-admins, even if it's just "we'll contact you later" would help so much

As well as discussing with the Solidaires; they're not the enemy unless he wants to make them his enemy

I know he's still very young and inexperienced and I guess maybe he learned in law school that you should always rather shut up than say the wrong thing, which makes sense when it comes to law, but this isn't a court case (not yet at least) and if you're gonna have a company, you need to learn to negotiate with unions, and to work with people in general

Also I know people keep saying that we can't trust what the ex-admins say because they don't know what's going on but can we at least agree that they know that they've been kicked out and that they haven't contacted since? And that's already a problem, because if they want any of the ex-admins to come back some day, surely they should involve them in some way in the negotiations, right? And if they don't want them to come back then they need to at least let them know that they won't be needed anymore and give them some sort of compensation for the inconvenience

(Also from what I can tell it's not even about the money for most of them, which is all the more reason to negotiate because it might not even end up costing him anything)

What I really worry about is that he's gonna end up making all sorts of drastic decisions out of fear, and sabotage himself and the whole project, when the best approach would be to have a genuine and respectful conversation to work things out like adults

I've seen a lot of similar independent creative projects fall into similar traps and I genuinely don't want it to happen to QSMP

I'm concerned because to me, based on my experience, this doesn't seem promising right now. Yes, I don't know everything that's going on behind the scenes, but we do know that people are being excluded from whatever it is, and that's never a good sign, it's just gonna lead to more distrust and hostility

My point is, communication is good, actually. And so is teamwork. Cheesy, I know, but it's just true. And people tend to respond very well to being treated like respected members of a team. And they tend to respond badly when they feel disrespected, whether you mean to disrespect them or not. That's just something you need to learn if you want to be a good leader

This is not me hating on Quackity, this is me saying that I think he's making a mistake, and I wish I could somehow let him know that because I want things to work out well for this server I love

(Also, seriously, the cooperative model would work so well for QSMP, I really really wish they'd try it, even if Quackity maintains some sort of veto power)

tbf striker has been confirmed To Fuck so in his case it's def just him seething that no-one is going along with his gritty semi-realistic cowboy roleplay

yeah, I can see that + I'm all about the fucked up power thing going on with Striker's obsession with Blitzø, where he wants Blitzø to be like him and understand him and respect him and maybe be a horse sometimes idk and Blitzø keeps denying him the pleasure of being equals (contrasted with Fizz who just seems to disgust Striker... although maybe we've hit the event horizon, now Blitzø has blown him up... we'll see.... wanting to just hurt/punish Blitzø is also great-as-dynamic)

I do think though that on the show proper (so not word of god or outside promo) there's a fascinating distinction between Striker's opinion of himself -- that is, that he IS sexy and talented and has a big dick -- and how much he'll allow other people to get into his space. Yes, there's the "stop ruining this for me!!!" thing when Moxxie, Stolas, and Fizz (although... not Blitzø? at least not enough to warrant a comment... but that may be because Blitzø's big kink fantasy is horseplay, which fits very nicely with what Striker's all about) turn a violent moment into a "sex thing," but there's also little things like kicking away the fan who's trying to get at him in Sweet Victory, or being really annoyed by the theme tune singers, like Yes he's Sexy, but can people please just stay the fuck out of his way and let him do his Job DAMMIT

this more headcanon territory than Alastor, but I do imagine him as aspec, probably along the lines of autosexual, with a dash of powerplay and cowboy roleplay that can lean into the sexual but Only if all the other right pieces are in play first!

but also there's an interesting Aspec Meta Thing in Hazbin/Helluva that's added when you have all the sex jokes and clearly allosexual characters (although, one can always HC aspecness), and then there's a character there that on some level Does Not Like It and/or avoids it -- so far Alastor and Striker. it opens up a line of thinking about the pervasiveness of sex and boundaries that I will immediately go ooh keep talkin' at

this meaning that while Striker may not be canonically aspec, he does add an aspec dimension to the narrative, because people keep getting into his fucking space with all that sex stuff and he wishes they'd fucking stop

so yes, he wants to break Blitzø like a horse. yes, that's kind of hot. don't even make it weird, don't even- *Striker yelling at his Blitzø-poster while drunk!* (how does he have it? did he steal one of Blitzø's own stick-drawings of himself?)

not-so-subtly pushing my "fucked up Striker/Blitzø" agenda with all of this, I'm noticing (it's gotta be fucked up though for it to work for me. has to be)

I think people should give kids more credit for knowing what they need.

When i was missing so much high-school i had to do summer school because i was not only physically ill but also very mentally unwell, sooooo many adults kept telling me to go to school, even though doing so made me have severe, debilitating panic attacks, and i was dealing with a lot of physical pain aswell. So many people said "you'll never amount to anything, man up and go to school." And i kept telling them "im sick and i know what my body needs." But nobody likes it when a 14-15 year old says that. God forbid a CHILD knows exactly what her body and mind needs, shes just a stupid kid how could she possibly know?

I promise your child actually knows what they're doing and what they need. Please listen to them. If you kid says they need to stay home from school there is a reason. Maybe its mental health, or physical health, but kids aren't stupid. I would like to see less of this ablism where a child that doesn't go to school is considered a bad child.

Do you know how many teachers hated me specifically for not being able to go to school? It didn't matter that i had a note saying every absence is excused by a doctor, they still assumed i was fooling my parents into letting their bratty child do whatever they wanted. They would ridicule me TO MY FACE and say I'd never pass. I did pass btw. I finished most of my school work on one single day of summer class because i missed a lot of that too. But i learned nothing, because i was BUSY BEING FUCKING SICK i had BETTER things to worry about. Idc what the excuse is, absence should never mean you fail a class or don't pass a grade. It is so ablist to assume that every student can follow THE VERY UNREASONABLE SCHEDULE of waking up at 4 to 5 am and being at school for 8 hours (WHEN YOU ONLY DO ACTUAL WORK FOR 4!!) and kids only getting 6 hours of sleep (WHEN A LOT NEED 9 TO 12!!!) for 5 fucking days (EVEN 4 WOULD BE BETTER!!) Its absolutely ridiculous and the only kids can do it are either able bodied, able minded, and even then they are more stressed than a child should ever be. And if they cant follow this schedule they are a Bad Person. I had teachers that literally treated me like a dog. I'd ask them for make up work and they would give me the most shitty and rude attitude i have ever seen. NO ONE has treated me worse about my health than teachers. It was because i was a kid. When i had to drop out of college for my disability, the teachers were incredibly respectful and wished me a speedy recovery and hoped id be back in their class next year.

Being sick as a child is one of the most isolating and angering experiences you will go through. Adults take every shitty thing they feel and throw it at you because you are a vulnerable child. They would never speak the way they speak to you to adults because then they'd get their ass beat or fucking killed. But because you are 15 years old, they will use you as a punching bag.

If your kid is sick, FUCKING LISTEN TO THEM!! i hate to burst your bubble but when i say "people know whats best for them more than anyone else" I MEAN KIDS TOO.

Marx's dynamics with Gooey and the Animal Friends

I've got a lot of thoughts on how Marx interacts with these guys! Basically, I embrace the idea of wave 1 dream friends being close friends with each other, and Gooey technically already has some canonical association with the animal friends. So all I had to do was throw Marx into the mix with them somehow!

I think he actually fits decently well with them! Allow me to share all the headcanons I have of Marx's friendships with these guys.

Inserting 'Keep reading tag' because it's long.

Marx was gone from Planet Popstar for a very long time after Milky Way Wishes. It's only several months before Star Allies when he makes his grand return to the planet to reconcile with Kirby.

After their reconciliation, Kirby then went to help Marx make new friends. Before Marx's return to Popstar, his only friend was Magolor. Kirby wanted to see how some of his other friends would put up with Marx, and if any of them would be willing to be Marx's friends as well.

That's where Gooey and the animal friends came in. Kirby introduced Marx to these guys before introducing him to anyone else. The reason for this is because Gooey and the animal friends are generally a very forgiving bunch, and they were quick to forgive the entire wave 3 trio after their respective incidents. Kirby remembered this, and so he figured they'd be quick to accept Marx as a friend as well.

And accept him as a friend they did. Once they've spent enough time with him, they think he's the funniest person in existence. They really like him. In return, he likes them a lot, and is delighted that they're often willing to join him into doing some tomfoolery sometimes.

After Magolor and Kirby, these guys are the next friends that Marx has made, and they're rather special to him because of that.

Gooey and the animal friends all like some mischief themselves as they're all rather on the silly side, and they're more level-headed than most of the others in the cast as they don't really get easily pissed off. This is what allows them to take well to Marx and his shenanigans.

They don't mind getting pranked by him, they're entertained by it! Marx can prank them in ways that would be considered 'too far' for many others. Some of the animal friends even choose to mess with him back, much to his delight! He loves it when that happens.

That being said, however, Gooey and the animal friends do have their standards and would stop Marx if they think he's crossing a line. We'll go over more on that later, but let's go over how Marx interacts with each and every one of these guys individually!

Gooey is basically Marx's buddy, lol. Marx really likes Gooey. He thinks Gooey is hilarious, and he's nicer to Gooey than he is to most others. Marx will often bounce on Gooey like he's one of his beach balls. He also has a nickname for the dark matter defect, as he calls him 'Goobert'. Gooey loves Marx and considers him to be fun to hang out with. He constantly laughs at Marx's funny business.

Marx often hypes Gooey up and tries to teach him to pull pranks. Gooey is usually a very nice and well-meaning person, but he's also not very smart and often lets himself be taught by Marx how to prank because he thinks it'll be very fun and entertaining!

There are occasions where Gooey ends up emulating Marx's bad behavior, with perhaps the most notable example being that Marx will come up to random unsuspecting people and say "Hey, hey, hey! I think he wants you to give him a big kiss!" causing Gooey to come up and lick that person. Whenever this kind of thing happens, Gooey does apologize to that person later on and said it was just for fun.

Rick is fairly outgoing and likes to move around a lot, and so he's often glad to join Marx in going around and starting some sillies! There are times where Marx would let Rick balance a beach ball on his nose, and he'd even try to bounce on the beach ball during it.

There are other times where Rick would turn into a big rolling stone (his stone ability in Dream Land 3, as he can use any time since he can use it in Star Allies too) and Marx would then leap on top of him to cause some rolling mischievous madness. When they go rick-rolling around, they may crash onto trees for kicks and giggles.

Marx may also try to mimic Rick's accent, and the hamster of course doesn't mind that. Yes, literally, my headcanon universe's Rick has an Australian accent just like the Rick from the Kirby anime, lol.

Kine is very goofy and is a big joke-teller. He and Marx exchange funny talk a lot. It's enriching for the both of them. They'll make funny faces at each other, too. Marx thinks that Kine is the funniest fish to exist, and when he learned about how the animal friends combined copy abilities with Kirby, he thought that Kine was the one that performed the funniest copy ability combinations out of the bunch. He laughed when he learned that Kine had light bulbs in his mouth, shot fireballs underwater, and stuffed a big rock inside of himself.

There are times where Marx would have Kine stuff a beach ball in his mouth, to then later cannonball out of his mouth to cause mischief. They coordinate doing this on random unsuspecting people.

Coo sometimes enjoys doing aerial tomfoolery with Marx. The two like to fly around to cause some minor mischief. Marx may spit beach balls out of his mouth for Coo to slap with his wings to hit random unsuspecting people. What makes this especially funny for the two of them is that if the balls hit random people from far away because they did high in the air, those people will never know who caused it.

That being said, Coo is also the most serious of the animal friends. Out of them, he's the one that puts the most effort in keeping Marx in check. If Marx crosses a line, Coo is the first animal friend to stop him. Coo himself doesn't mind tomfoolery every now and then, but he quickly knows when to stop if things get out of hand. He'll give Marx the look when he deems it necessary to.

Marx thinks it's funny to sometimes trigger Coo into giving him the look just for the sake of it. He likes Coo quite a lot.

Nago is the laziest and least talkative of the animal friends, and therefore is the one to join Marx in tomfoolery the least often out of the bunch. He still enjoys the jester's company, though. He's easily amused by his antics. There's also this thing that Marx and Nago have going on where Nago will steal Marx's beach ball, causing them to playfight, and Nago just tells Marx to go make another beach ball or go use Gooey as a ball to bounce on.

ChuChu thinks that Marx is hysterically funny, and she's bold enough to even start shit with him. Marx and ChuChu have this thing going on where they're weirdly fixated on stealing each other's bows. One will try to pull a fast one on the other to find an opportunity to steal their bow, with ChuChu using one of her tentacles to yank Marx's small bow off his chest, while he steals her big bow off her head.

Marx also started teasing ChuChu for her liking of Kirby when he first found out about it. This got reactions out of her at first until she eventually started taking well to it and even laughs when he does it.

Pitch is a devious little turd that's also not afraid to start stuff with Marx. These two like to bicker for kicks and giggles, and sometimes it's Pitch that initiates it. They both consider it to be enriching. Pitch is actually Marx's favorite out of the animal friends, because he thinks it's hilarious how much of a troll the little bird can be sometimes.

Pitch and ChuChu enjoy bickering with each other and sometimes metaphorically 'beat each other up'. Marx thinks it's absolutely hilarious when this happens and eggs the both of them on.

All in all, Marx enjoys the company of all these guys. He's got things going on with each and every one of them. He commonly hangs out with them a lot. He's kind of grown a soft spot for them.

Marx was quick to join Rick, Kine, Coo and Gooey when the events of Star Allies began. Nago, ChuChu and Pitch stayed behind because Coo thought that the big intergalactic journey would've been too dangerous for ChuChu and Pitch, as Nago decided to babysit them. Marx, however, was more than welcome to participate.

During Star Allies, the dream friends often split up into groups by their respective waves, and wave 1 was usually a group together. They had a blast kicking ass and taking names when they fought bad guys together during Star Allies. They fought bad guys in mischievous ways, and commonly laughed as they trolled their way through the Jambastion fortress. When the mage sisters were the enemy before their redemption, wave 1 mocked them after defeating them. Unsurprisingly, Marx was doing the most mocking, as Gooey, Rick, Kine and Coo just enabled him and even joined him in doing it.

There were points in Star Allies however when Marx wanted to join Magolor in beating up Jamba bad guys. Due to his insistency in this, wave 1 and wave 3 were a bit connected as the animal trio found opportunities to let Marx be with Magolor for a bit.

After Star Allies, Marx continues being friends with Gooey and the animal friends, as he reunites with Nago, ChuChu and Pitch after the game's events. They were glad to see him again.

Marx's dynamics with these guys more or less remains this way from now on. They like him, they think he's funny as heck, and they'll sometimes join him into doing some sillies.

However, despite liking mischief themselves, the animal friends do have standards. Marx has a knack for causing eventual chaos, and sometimes that can be too much for the animal friends. ChuChu and Pitch may be rowdy enough to occasionally cause accidental chaos, but they themselves still have some clear standards and they'd know when to stop Marx when he goes too far.

Gooey and the animal friends generally have little problem with Marx causing funny stuff with them. If he becomes chaotic with them, they stop him, although they don't really have hard feelings for him about it for the most part. It's when he messes with other people, however, is when it's far more likely they can end up getting mad at him.

They understand that many other people are more easily ticked off than they are, and so they honor that to try to get Marx to not bother others too much. He can't get away with as much for some other people as he can for Gooey and the animal friends, and they know it.

Marx isn't very well liked by some of the other dream friends. In fact, aside from Gooey, Rick, Kine and Coo, the only other dream friends that Marx is actually friends with are Magolor, Daroach and the mage sisters. The rest don't really like him enough to consider him a friend. Some of them even find him to be rather infuriating to deal with.

The animal friends, especially Coo, will usually get Marx to stop messing with the dream friends that can't stand him. Magolor also does this, and thus the animal friends have even talked with Magolor in making Marx leave certain people alone.

Gooey doesn't really act to stop someone from doing something, but even he can give a sad or disapproving look if he thinks that Marx crosses a particular line. That can actually get Marx to behave.

But despite Marx crossing the line for certain people, Gooey and the animal friends still ultimately like him. They, along with Magolor, are just trying to get him to work on becoming a better person over time while they still do some sillies and funnies with him.

They still think he's hilarious as all heck! They do admit he's not always easy to deal with, though. But ultimately, they like him a lot and they were glad that Kirby introduced him to them. Marx likes them a lot, enough to where he'll actually listen if they really want him to improve on something, as he will try for them.

Admittedly, it does freak these guys out that Marx is capable of splitting himself in half and summoning a black hole. They are, however, easily entertained by all his other Nova powers.

They've learned more about clockwork stars thank to Marx, even if they generally don't bother leaving Popstar for the most part.

Marx is generally 'homeless' as he never has a set place that he sleeps in, as he doesn't always even sleep somewhere in Popstar. But there are times that he might sleep under some random tree that's not far from the Dream Land forests that Gooey and the animal friends consider to be their home. It shows how much he likes them.

That's basically all I have for how I interpret Marx's interactions with these guys. They're his friends! I think he actually fits with them pretty well. I know a lot of people interpret "wave 3 + Marx" friend group but I honestly prefer to have Marx stick with his own wave, even if I still find Magolor to be something of a best friend to him.

I'm aware that the animal friends don't really have a lot of canon personality. I headcanon that they're all pretty silly to various degrees. Silly enough to consider Marx their friend. Gooey on the other hand is probably happy enough to welcome anyone as a friend!

Thanks for reading, I plan to make a big general headcanon post for Marx, but for now you get my interpretation of his dynamics with Gooey and the animal friends. Basically covering all of wave 1, with of course including Nago, ChuChu and Pitch since I'm well aware that they are not actually dream friends.

In my couple years of knowing you, I've come to really respect you and look up to you as a person.

Since you have a decade more experience than me in life, and have gone through what phase I'm in, I'd like for you to share your advice on how to approach life in general.

What are some of the things/qualities/advice that you'd consider are most important for people to keep in mind?

You also seem to be a very confident person, so I wanted to ask how does one maintain the balance between humbleness and confidence and not become too cocky or overconfident?

I also believe confidence is very much dependent on external validation and positive reinforcement, so what if one does not get too much of it when they're doing something? Should they give up on it completely? Because otherwise they'd come off as unpleasant and cocky to other people.

How does one know if they're good at something in the first place? I mean friends and family will always say you're good at something or you look good, or you sing well etc.

Secondly, how does one cope with things that are completely out of their control? There are many people with genetic diseases/conditions which make them objectively worse than the average person.

It could also be that their financial circumstances prevent them from doing something. Should they ignore/overlook their flaws completely? Won't that make them seem obnoxious and overconfident?

How can one be mindful of their flaws and not let it affect them negatively and make them feel down? Feelings of envy, jealousy and frustration are bound to occur if one compares themselves with other people. But comparison is the only way to remain competitive and driven otherwise they'll become relaxed and idle and get left behind by most people.

What are some of the things/qualities/advice that you'd consider are most important for people to keep in mind?

Life doesn't end once you receive some bad news. Sleep on it, and think about how to move forward. Time heals all wounds.

When you're trying to improve on something, slow consistency is always better than making drastic changes for quick results, because more often than not, those changes won't be sustainable.

Doing something that you love for a living is great, but not necessary. As long as it's something that you can tolerate, that's good enough. If someone had a choice between doing something they love vs doing something they tolerate for 1.5x the money, I'd advise they don't be so quick to discard the latter.

This links to the previous point - a lot of the time, people say that money can't buy happiness because they think that's the "right" thing to say, but that's just idealistic. Money may not be able to bring happiness to someone who is already suffering from clinical depression, but for the regular person who struggles financially between pay checks, money can definitely buy happiness. Not just for what you can do for yourself, but also for how you can use it to help those who you love as well.

You also seem to be a very confident person, so I wanted to ask how does one maintain the balance between humbleness and confidence and not become too cocky or overconfident?

I'm confident only in what you see me talk about, because I know those topics very well. If I was in a conversation about a topic that I knew relatively little about, I'd keep my mouth shut and listen. Overconfidence stems from the overestimation of one's own skills and abilities, and in this case, it would be thinking you know more than you actually do. And even when some people know that their knowledge of the topic isn't that great, they'd still like to argue their point because they just want to be right. Avoiding this incessant need to always be right is key to maintaining that balance between humbleness and confidence, without crossing the threshold of arrogance. Listen, and learn, so that in the future, you'll be the one explaining the topic with all of the confidence, but none of the arrogance, because you were once in the position of ignorance.

Confidence can be built from external validation and positive reinforcement, but that's not the only way. If you know the benchmark for being "good" at something, and you meet that standard, confidence can be obtained in that manner as well. For instance, if only 20% of people were able to speed through a video game level in under 5 minutes, and you were also able to do so, you'd know you were in the top 20% of players for that level, regardless of whether you received any external positive feedback. That knowledge alone would give you a confidence boost.

My point above can also be applied here. Positive reinforcement from friends and family should only be supplementary motivators. What truly matters, is for you yourself to know how to gauge the threshold between good and average.

I always say to just not fuss about things that are out of your control, because there's literally no point in fussing about them. They're not gonna change, so don't waste your time. Focus your time on things which you can actually improve. You can't change your height, but you can change your physique. You can't change the fact that you have Tourette syndrome, but that doesn't stop you from being the life of the party and everyone loving you.

You should never ignore or overlook your flaws, not least because yes, that can have the potential to make you seem obnoxious. Your flaws and weaknesses should always be acknowledged so that they can be accounted for. Ignoring them doesn't mean they don't exist, and if they're not acknowledged, then those weaknesses will be very apparent in whatever it is that you're trying to do.

Everyone has flaws. You acknowledging that you have flaws is part of acknowledging your humanity. Sure, you may look at someone else and wish you could be as good as they are in a particular subject, but yet you don't even realise that someone is probably thinking the exact same thing about you. You also have talents that someone else heavily desires, that's just natural. But as you rightfully indicated, envy can often be a very good motivator for people to self improve.

You know, this is something I've thought about before (shoutout to @fancy-a-dance-brigadier for always asking the real questions lol) - but I could never quite find an answer I was satisfied with! Because I don't think taking all my favourites and smushing them together works, they just aren't as interesting together as mixups between characters who have bigger ideological differences. Like, he might be my fav captain but I don't want to choose Sisko over Janeway and Picard, I want to see him interact with Janeway and Picard, you know? So here's a sort of half-cooked, this-would-change-every-time-you-asked-me answer:

Character's past comes back to haunt them. Character is forced to confront their inner demons in a way that blurs the line between imagination and reality. Member of an alien society seeks asylum. A peek into the world from the "outsider" character's eyes. Two people from opposite sides are forced to spend time together (and the guest character SLAPS). Captain is out of commission and the unlikeliest people are forced to step up. Oh no the holodeck isn't shutting down and the only way we can save everyone's life is to LARP through this thing fully committing to the bit. Here is a spacial anomaly that makes everyone act weird one by one (either revealing important hidden truths about the characters, or just letting the actors have too much fun). ALL of us have to go back in time together for some stupid reason (and it's amazing)

27. What do you wish they had handled differently?

SO many potential answers- but since it's always on my mind, I wish they'd followed through on the thread of Jem'Hadar dissent. In 'The Abandoned' we find out they're genetically engineered to (rapidly) grow very strong, be dependant on drugs, and loyal to the Founders while demanding no individual rights, which frames them as tragic victims. Then we get a Jem'Hadar character who not only broke free of the Dominion's hold on him, not only expresses but also acts on the dream of freeing his fellow soldiers- and a lead character (Julian) risks his career for him! Sisko tries to get through to them in 'Rocks and Shoals'. They're so clearly complex beings with unique thoughts & personalities & feelings & needs, and are constantly fighting this inhumanely imposed programming that tells them they're just killing machines who live to serve their masters. Even in lighthearted episodes like 'One Little Ship' we see conflict between the Gamma and Alpha Quadrant soldiers, for example. We could've had this be relevant to the Dominion War's resolution! We could've had a defector Jem'Hadar as a recurring character! We could've had Julian finally make that breakthrough & help start a Jem'Hadar revolt!! It could've been so much more interesting (and so much less racist)

33. Whose twitter feed would you most want to follow?

My first instinct was Dax, but I'm leaning more towards Jake Sisko- I feel like because he's the son of a Starfleet officer (but not in the service himself) he'd have absolutely zero fear of authority & he'd just post the most savage things about prominent Starfleet officers and blow up incredibly unflattering pics of all the admirals lol

Hi I hope your doing ok. I'm praying for you and the rest of the Ukraine. I'm a huge fan of your writing and I wanted to run an idea by you and ask your opinion on it. I'm writing a fanfiction story about Hannibal in which it turns out Bedelia had Hannibal's child, a daughter, in secret many years ago after a discrete affair and gave her away to a catholic orphanage in New Orleans. Years later she becomes a trainee at the FBI and ends up working for Jack Crawford to help him bring Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham to justice. How do you think Hannibal would react if he found out he had a daughter? would he try to turn her into a killer like himself and try to form a murder family with her and Will like he tried too with Abigail or would he kill her? Could he? and also how would Will react? Would he be pleased with getting a second chance at getting to be a father figure and try to have with her what he wanted with Abigail or would he be angry and jealous and try to kill her? Or would they both be amused at finally getting a worthy adversary in their ongoing cat and mouse game with the FBI? I'd love to know your thoughts and any constructive criticism would be very welcome. I'm a little new to tumblr and haven't posted anything as of yet but will definitely soon when I can find more time for writing. This is a very interesting fic idea! Love that you chose New Orleans as a home for Hannibal's child, considering Will's ties to this place.

Whether Hannibal would try to influence his daughter depends on her personality. We never see him try to seduce normal people like Alana or Jack or Franklyn to darkness. Because that's not what he does: he always respects his projects' preferences. That's why he sends a vulnerable patient to Bedelia, who likes to crush the weak; why he urges Margot to kill Mason but no one else; why he encourages the beast in Randall. That's why he gives Will people like Hobbs, Gideon, Randall, Mason, Tobias, Francis, himself. He never deviates from this. He knows what each of these people is capable of and he doesn't cross their limits, just pushes them to embrace their highest potential.

So, if his daughter had inner darkness, then yes, I think Hannibal would be interested in bringing it out. But if she was genuinely good, then I think he'd want to preserve it. He'd probably think it's incredibly ironic that he and Bedelia gave birth to someone normal. I doubt he'd want her to live with him and Will as a part of their family - honestly, I doubt Hannibal would have bothered with Abigail if it wasn't for Will, despite him having a form of true attachment to her. But he'd likely want to stay in touch. His daughter would be not just a part of him, but also a part of Mischa, and Hannibal would treasure it. He'd be capable of killing her, but only if there was no other choice. I do think he'd pick Will over her any time.

Will, I think, would be wary at first. I don't think he'd be jealous, but maybe he'd feel insecure occasionally. He'd probably focus his resentment on Bedelia, though. His attitude would depend on the personality of Hannibal's child and the dynamic they'd develop. If she chased them, then Will would probably be upset and worried: he wouldn't want to be caught and he wouldn't want to harm her - or to let Hannibal harm her. If she showed a little more moral greyness and interest in getting to know them, then I imagine they'd be able to develop an interesting mixed relationship: a little friendly, a little fatherly, a little adversarial.

Naturally, this is just how I see it. Hope this helped! Wishing you inspiration!

Disclaimer: Don't go taking this idea to heart. I don't want any chaos. 💀 I ship people based off of potential chemistry and existing chemistry. So keep it cute and don't be rude. I know how some people like to tussle. 👀

Y'all. Back in my Wattpadian days, I was notorious for thinking up crazy ass ships. Like, I managed to write Sirius x Voldemort. And it worked.

Anyways. 🤣 I keep having the most bizarre ideas whenever I write Ross in my The Sun and The Sky AU.

Like he's this small, intelligent man who has somehow managed to befriend Aj K'uk'ulkan and King M'Baku, and they're all to the point that they make bets and mock/joke with each other. Although sometimes those two beefy kings enjoy scaring him when he gets too relaxed.

Is this canon in my series? No. But I cannot sleep until I share this chaos.

Y'all probably got the paramedics on speed dial.

"Hello? Yes. Our good sis needs sleep and to be treated for dehydration because she's seeing things." 🤣

But hear me out.

Y'all don't ever think about how Ross must feel sitting between those two beefy men? 😮‍💨 Y'all don't think they wouldn't slut him out for the one time, just to say they conquered a colonizer? And maybe it never gets voiced to others. It just stays between them. And maybe they never say it to him, but Ross knows. It was a good time, and he's not going to let that one time thing prevent him from doing his best at advising the council.

It's just a fling.

🥴 My tired brain is spiraling at this, because I can imagine them gifting him scented oils and salves and nice clothes so that he's always looking and smelling good.

M'Baku is always escorting him around because Ross keeps getting lost. And while he's busy, K'uk'ulkan keeps an eye on him.

He's just well taken care for and he's their emotional support after long meetings and the daily tires of ruling.

p.s.

This idea was spurred while writing, but I can't help but cackle after seeing how much M'Baku used to antagonize Ross in the first movie. It would definitely be a very drunk one-time thing if it ever happened.

ESPECIALLY with Namor. That man respects Ross, but I think 500 years of hating the surface world and colonizers would definitely keep things platonic.

I couldn't imagine how Ross would even get in that situation sober. They'd all be drunkenly discussing dick sizes and fuck around and find out. 💀

23: What do they do after the absolute crisis?

Alright. Well. This is a long one, enjoy.

Neither of the canon endings really make me happy and work for Vanquish, so I'm rewriting in that tldr; Emps and Orpheus both survive and work together after Vanquish hauling Voss in to help her talk these two into working together to defeat the brain. Then Vanquish pretty much having to body block Orpheus afterwards to stop him ripping The Emperor apart, Voss and Lae'zel one arm each.

Quietly, she says a long, meaningful goodbye to The Emperor and Karlach, who became a mindflayer, and they go off together and start living their lives as they wish, flitting between the Underdark and a home beneath BG.

After a few tense nights hovering by Voss and Lae'zel's sides with the githyanki as they recover and prepare to leave for one of Voss' hidden outposts, Vanquish is sort of, panicking really. Suddenly she'd built up a small group of close, trusted friends and those she could maybe even call more, and now just, everyone's leaving. Everyone has their own lives to fix, to recover.

And she'll once again be alone.

For while at the githyanki camp, she feels like she fits in, at least with Voss and Lae'zel, and she'd burn the world for them. And after what they'd did for them, she knows those loyal to Orpheus and Voss may as well at least listen to her. Respect her. One day see a friend, too.

Voss commands a LOT of respect over the githyanki that follow him, so them seeing him start to see an istik as an equal, they follow.

Orpheus however, Vanquish and he kinda clash. He silently knows he owes so much to her for what she did for him, their people, but being freed after millenias in chains and silence kinda kicks the hornets nest of emotions for a bit. He'll get there. (Also the fact his bondmate is smitten with an istik?)

When they leave, Voss and Lae'zel promise they'll be back for her when they're ready, if she still wants to join their rebellion, and become an honorary warrior. Voss hands her one half of a very old sending stone pair, carved in tir'su that isn't even used anymore, letting her know that either he or Lae'zel will use the other half.

And they kept to their word. Voss returns to her one day on Qudenos to pick her up, and take her to her new home, if that's what she still wants.

(all the while she'd been setting up home in a small, solitary house far outside Baldur's Gate, sometimes checking in with The Emperor and Karlach, sometimes Gale or Astarion. Vanquish used to do a lot of tarot readings, tea leaves, divination stuff etc before all this went down, so she kinda picks that up for a while before Voss comes swooping in)

So, Vanquish in the end joins the githyanki rebellion because of her love for Voss, Lae'zel. And eventually she grows to love Orpheus too, and actually they become weirdly close in that 'you're someone I can sit in a room with for 8 hours and do absolutely nothing with but feel so comfortable and make you a cup of tea without asking and the only word you'll say is thanks and that's fine'.

Also. She steals all of Orpheus' clothes. Until Voss gets her some custom githyanki leather/cloth/fur armour made, as she can't wear anything too heavy because of her burn scars.

He also might gift her a custom githyanki circlet <3

Orpheus refuses to let her have her own dragon though. It's something weird he can't get pat. An istik on a dragon, but also how the knowledge of the dragons were obtained never really leaves him. He's always had a complicated relationship with them. Even after Voss and Qudenos insisted he have his own, Qudenos picking one of his close mates for Orpheus when he and Voss were very young. She always rides with either Lae'zel or Voss. Qudenos takes her out for cheeky solo rides, now and then.

tldr; she joins the githyanki rebellion and a polycule of her, Voss and Orpheus.

27: What was their life like before the events of BG3?

Lonely, mostly.

Scared, a little.

She'd run away from which was, in essence, a cult. She was the leader's little pet project and special princess. And he'd been playing the long, long game. (Vanquish is a lot older than she appears, mostly because of patron powers and her cult daddy called Nezarr who was like a chosen/avatar of Y'chak).

After running away, her mind kind of...fractured a little. Memories lost - most specifially of Nezarr and who and what he really was and did. He'd made sure to plant that failsafe into her that everytime she successfully fleed from her bonds, she'd forget, but not all. What would linger was that the next time she sees Nezarr, a twinge of comfort stirs in her that she knows him, that he can protect her, she'll be safe with him.

And it starts all over again. For this wasn't the first time she'd gotten free.

But it is the last.

So, freedom. She's trying to make a new life once again (unbeknown to her), scared and lost and well, angry too. So fucking angry.

But...she's also excited. There's a whole world infront of her again. And she's going to make it hers, again. Rage, joy, laughter, love, fear, pain, hate - all of it, and it's hers now. Hers.

Everytime she escapes it gets harder for the failsafe to work properly, and then when she gets tadpoled, it really fucks with the magic he used on her and memories come flooding back in pieces, feelings lost, and so much anger. She remembers her anger now, and what kind of person she used to be, and well, is.

She's my morally grey baby and I love her so much.

Just caught up with The Echo Garden… holy shit.

I have so much respect for you rn. You’ve been updating this since 2020?? That’s incredible. It’s fics like yours that make me wanna write (even tho I’ve never finished a project ever but shhh). You’re an inspiration, I wanna create stories like yours. I don’t think I’ll be able to come close but am not about to lose hope. I cannot wait to see where The Echo Garden goes. Thank you so much for the very kind ask! 💜 I started drafting Echo Garden in 2019 and posted the first chapter in 2020, yeah. Covid hit my professional and personal life hard, so writing and development went/are going a lot more slowly than I thought they would. Today I realized I've spent hundreds of hours on The Echo Garden and I felt mixed feelings about that, but messages like this make me feel better about it ;A;

I'm honored to be an inspiration and yes, don't lose hope!

Here's a story that might encourage you (or might not... let's find out):

In 2016 or 2017 I told a friend of mine I was thinking of writing TF fic, but I was really intimidated by the age of the fandom and the extent of the franchise. There were so many characters! And people seemed really, ah, protective of their built up headcanons. Fandom seemed to have these collective interpretations and understandings of characters that I was vastly unfamiliar with.

My friend recommended that I read a particular story, which was quite popular, to get an idea of what TF fic was like.

I read the fic (okay mostly, I did skip a little bit because it is a very dark and heavy fic). One of the chapters is, legit, I kid you not, the best thing I've ever read. Of anything. It's not my favorite thing I've ever read. It is the BEST thing I've ever read.

I put my head down on my desk and didn't write for a year.

(I literally put my head down on my desk. And I literally didn't write for a year.)

I knew I could never be that good. Why try?

But after a year, I had an idea. And, dammit, it wasn't an intricate, political longfic saga, but it was my idea and I wanted to write it. And I did. And a few people liked it. I wrote some more. Wrote a really long fic about my favorite pairing. A few more people liked that.

I'd had the idea for MTMTE Rodimus/TFP Soundwave forever, but didn't have a canon explanation for how they'd get together until Lost Light ended (thanks, JRO!). And I knew that what I wanted to do with it would take a lot of skill and thought and hard work to pull off. I didn't know if I was skilled enough to do it. After I finished the first rarepair longfic, I thought, "Well, I completed 150k and I have a canon-based explanation for how they meet. I'm as ready as I'll ever be." I was sooooooo nervous when I posted the first chapter.

To my utter shock, a whole lot of people have been reading Echo Garden :u

Which is very exciting!

But. I do wish I hadn't spent a year not writing because I thought I wasn't good enough, and I compared myself to that other author and that other fic. What I've written is different. I dunno if it's better, but why compare?

Anyway, don't give up!! Don't lose time to worrying about being good or not. Also, this is advice I've seen pro writers give: finish a project. Do your best. A little project :) See it through to the end. You can do it!

yeah, now that you explain it does make a bit more sense but it. just hurts because whereas they acknowledged yusuke blantantly lying about madarame stealing his work, they seem to just completely kind of ignore akechi's warnings and that doesnt even make sense to me.. they dont even really acknowledge it, all because they dont know who he's working for until the last minute, and that doesnt make sense to me at all. but ty for taking ur time to ramble: i actually do it myself a lot, and i have so many thoughts abt so many things that i'd like to explore more in depth but can't put in words myself .. i'd just wish theyd atleast acknowledge that akechi is being used the same way everyone else was instead of ignoring it, even if they still cant continue to aid him: it feels like they didnt try (to me), even with ryuji's ... hatred for him, i'd atleast think that ryuji would atleast try to acknowledge it and want to do something but being unable to instead of still being an ass, even if goro is one as well (and i think, speaking of mental illness, as someone with npd and aspd and avpd, goro has both symptoms of npd and aspd: futaba has symptoms of avpd, but thats a topic at a later time.) and i think goro's not truly being himself in 3rd sem when he's blunt and mean, that he's still constantly masking, as people with npd and or aspd do like myself, and he's tired of being nice on tv so he has to pull thin insults when in real life because as much as he masks, it gets annoying, and he (along with myself and many others) likely has low empathy and just thinks of others (especially those of ryuji's caliber, as much as i love ryuji and everyone else) as , well put, idiots, because they dont know as much as he does, and the fact that they know more than him in the metaverse has likely made him crash (his engine room was essentially an npd crash, i think), but them not knowing "basic information" (as my brain puts) likely gives him a narc high, which also leads to thinly veiled insults.. adding onto the npd goro akechi, i think akira is his ep (Equal Person-- people w/ npd hold them to high standards, higher than they hold for themselves, and expects them to challenge eachother-- essentially akechi's rivalry with akira.. in alternative, bpd akira tells me that akechi is his FP, but i can discuss that at a later time)

regardless, and apologizes for this long paragraph, tysm for responding because that does make things a little clearer, and no one's really talked to me about it before, so thank you :D

yeah, i absolutely get where you're coming from - although i think the statement "they're ignoring his warnings because they don't know who he's working for" has the flipside of "by the time those warnings are given, the thieves already know he's the black mask and is presumably being manipulated by someone, so he's not actually warning them about anything they don't already know"

but yeah, the only reason i don't think they should have reached out to him pre-engine room is that i don't know when in the story that would have been an option: their plan to find out who his boss was wouldn't have worked if they'd tipped him off to the fact that they knew he was the black mask, and after 11/20, he thinks Akira's dead, and i doubt he would gave listened to any of the others. i think Ryuji's treatment of him us also kind of a result of Ryuji's general main story characterisation - in game the vibe is very much that ryuji doesn't like him because he's popular and smarmy and talked shit about the thieves on live tv, rather than the fact that he's a murderer, but they don't let ryuji have complex takes on things in the story ever. now im thinking about their relationship in my palace au lmao. if i were to frame it in more. terms. idk. ryuji hates the detective prince. but akechi doesn't respect ryuji so ryuji has no reason to try harder

and on the npd/aspd front - I'm not super familiar with npd but i can absolutely see that (i think akechi has a bunch of obvious Mental Illness Symptoms that are common to a lot of things, which is why i think mentally ill bitches latch onto him no matter what's going on. people saying he has npd have always sounded right to me i think he's autistic also because -- well you heard what i said about unsympathetic symptoms of mental illness last time) but as someone who has some symptom overlap i think youre 100% right on stuff i know about. low empathy bitches rise up.

but yeah, i think a lot of stuff is kind of the result of the writers seeming constantly all over the place with him. i think it's especially bad in the section from 11/20 to the engine room, because while i think in royal there was some vision for who he was supposed to be, everything in vanilla is far more over the place, and in some cases vanilla's contradictory writing of him is made worse by its interactions with royal's akechi content. because 11/20 isn't designed to accommodate for the possibility that this guy could be your actual friend rather than a guy you've spoken to a few times turned tenuous ally turned traitor. i don't think akechi ever would have acted differently in a way that mattered, but the way the thieves talk about him is in line with his flatter villain characterisation in that period in vanilla. he's a terrible irredeemable evil person until just before he dies, and then he's a tragic victim to the point that in the shadow shido fight, they talk as if akechi wasn't responsible for any of his own actions, despite the fact that he was demonstrably doing it of his own free will. and then he dies and you're not supposed to care because he's a Bad Guy so they barely bring him up again in vanilla. all that rings a little strange with the royal stuff

anyway all this has got me thinking about the dynamics between akechi and the non-akira thieves. i should really keep writing my akira's palace fic

Oh hi. Welcome to my blog.

If you've been following me for more than five minutes, you'll know most of this already, but since there are some new folks, let me introduce myself and what you will/will not find here.

I'm a big (probably an understatement) Hudson & Rex fan. Specifically, I'm a huge Sarah Truong fan and probably one of the OG Charah shippers, but I love all of it. The cast, the scenery, the stories. That being said: I am critical of shit the show does that I dislike, or (more often than not) things that I find particularly problematic. I firmly believe in being appropriately critical of the media I consume (h/t to @farfarawaygirl for the creation of my absolute favourite tag), and it's not always going to be sunshine and roses here. I don't do toxic positivity. If you're looking for "OMG Charah are forever perfection and these characters can do no wrong ever," look elsewhere. I don't do character hero worship. Characters have flaws. They'd be boring AF if they didn't. For example, if you were here for my H&R season 4 journey, which also included a bit of a mental breakdown, you know I will just as easily criticise my faves when they're being...not great...in the same breath as I will gush about how much I love them. I try to keep it real.

Occasionally I reblog stuff from other fandoms, but I have a tendency not to use tags for ships/fandoms that get...shall we say, a little *heated* from time to time (IYKYK.)

I'm "fandom old." AKA I was probably reading/writing fic before many of you were born. Why is this relevant? Because I'm not an "I write fic for engagement and kudos and whatnot" person, I'm more "I write fic because I enjoy exploring characters, and sometimes I'll share it on AO3." Basically: I'm probably way too old for this site, and I'm definitely too old to care about things like clout, or being "fandom famous" or infamous, or whatever the kids are into these days. I write because I want to. I don't engage with "you must interact with creations in this specific way or else you suck" takes. I get that there are people who take that stuff very seriously, and that's cool, you do you.

I write smut. If you can't deal with that, don't read it. I'm not going to apologize for including sex scenes in many of my fics. Tags and ratings exist for a reason, and I will always use them appropriately to ensure readers know what they're getting into.

If you know who I am on other social media, no you don't. Seriously. I keep my fandom life separate from my real life for a reason. Please respect that.

I love engaging in lively debate. I don't block often (unless you're a pornbot, which, if so, GO AWAY.) If I do, it's to protect my peace. If you block me, I assume it's for the same reason, and wish you well, or whatever.

I don't do fandom gatekeeping. It's weird. People engage with different media for different reasons, and expect different things from it, and that's okay.

Anyway. Just felt like putting that out there, in case people are in any way wondering where I'm coming from when I post certain takes, or reblog certain things. Thanks for reading.
