Yeah, it was alright. I'm helping with the international students but I low key am so awkward, I overthink every single conversation 😭 But hopefully I'll get over it soon

and i’ve struggled with that, so i feel ya 😭 though two things that have helped me are trying to see if i can remember the last time someone else was socially awkward near me (spoiler: you really can’t bc you forget about it). if anything people forget stuff like that so quickly bc it doesn’t directly affect them.

and b) if people are going to judge you without knowing you, do you really want them in ur life? and so like why does their opinion of you matter anyway?

hi tumblr I am, as many people are, going fucking insane over the silly little vampire man. I was encouraged to post some thoughts I had about him so uh here you go!!

Pre-vampire Astarion had a different kind of style. Different color preferences, clothing, patterns, hair.

Game era Astarion got off the nautiloid like that - which means we can assume he got taken like that - which means we can assume that’s not a style he’s chosen himself but a visual identity he’s been forced into for 200 years that he hasn’t yet found the ability to change

Even when he kills Cazador. There’s not a Shadowheart-esque moment of changing his appearance to reflect his development even though his appearance can be tied even more to the trauma he’s trying to overcome than Shadowheart’s can

Because he’s spent so long not able to be his own person. Not allowed to find his own tastes. There isn’t some identity lurking beneath the facade, waiting to break forth. Cazador broke him down, hollowed him out, made sure there was nothing except what Cazador wanted him to be

So some time post-game.. it starts slowly. He changes his hairstyle first. His family (they are still alive, they’re elves, fight me about it) tries to lay out clothes for him that used to suit his tastes but he doesn’t feel right putting them on it. It’s not the same kind of performative that Cazador demanded from him, but it feels performative all the same. He goes shopping around, he strays from anything similar to what he would have worn during the Cazador era or during his lifetime. For a while it’s anything that catches his eye, trying out whatever he realizes he likes. Sometimes it ends up a little silly. But eventually he does settle into his preferences. Finally something uniquely him, who he’s become and what he’s decided to like.

i think that young shuggy used each other as kind as a moral compass and guide on what to do. like…being raised by pirates probably meant that they couldn’t rely on the adults around them to guide them in terms of right and wrong nor did they have a person to stop them doing half of the dumb stuff they got up too, so they rely on each other for that. not that the roger pirates are particularly bad people but they also aren’t perfect either! which means they kinda struggle to decide for themselves where that line is drawn.

in the end they are able to pin in down for themselves but until then they’ll just see one another do questionable shit and decide that, yes, that’s a completely valid and correct idea/response. which often culminates in their questionable actions being exacerbated until one of the adults are forced to stop them. like at one point buggy decided he wanted to build his own bomb or something and shanks just went along with it. it took them almost blowing up a forest while testing their latest invention until someone finally stopped them,, and they literally saw no danger nor properly questioned what they were doing until then. because if one of them is doing it/agrees to it than it can’t be that bad, right?

i think shanks was probably more prone to doing this than buggy, considering he’s like 90% of his impulse control when young, but buggy certainly had his moments too.

ok so because it seems riptide is gonna be coming up on a VERY interesting point in the story in regards to reveals, with them on their way to the hole in the sea and on their way to arlin and etc etc etc, i figured i might as well put this hunch of mine here as a monument to see whether it’ll get disproven or not.

i have a feeling that chip is far more important to the story than we’ve been led to believe, not just to the story as we know it, but the WORLD of mana as a whole, or at the VERY LEAST with everything going on with the hole in the sea.

a lot of stuff is up in the air and very ambiguous, especially in regards to what actually happened to chip when down there; however, from what i remember it seems incredibly likely that he somehow learned celestial when down there, and is the only one of the og black rose pirate crew that we know of who can speak celestial and READ THE MAPS.

IN CELESTIAL.

ON CHIP, DRE, AND FINN’S AS BACKS.

from what we know, or at least what i remember, lizzy also doesn’t speak celestial. dre can’t speak celestial. finn probably doesn’t speak celestial.

it also seems that whatever caused all of them to not remember most of what happened in the black sea was INTENTIONAL.

there’s a near complete absence of memory for pretty much everyone after a certain point. with how the black sea canonically messed with dre, finn, and arlin’s memories in the one shot, corrupting their perception of their memories to make important moments to them instead be painful (as seen with arlins memory of picking up chip and taking him onto the crew being ruined with a sense of betrayal as an adult chip stabbed arlin, which i won’t even get into how that could make chip reuniting w arlin that much more tragic because arlin can only associate chip w betrayal now coupled w how many more of his memories might’ve been corrupted over the course of the past DECADE in the hole in the sea with him apparently being the most susceptible to failing the necessary save to not have his memories corrupted) which makes it incredibly likely that whatever influence the black sea has not only impacts MEMORY but also DESIRES.

this tracks w how almost all of niklaus’ deals involve people’s desires and twisting them, and when their desires corrupt them enough they begin to die and spew BLACK OOZE.

SUCH AS A CERTAIN OTHER LARGE BODY OF LIQUID COLORED SIMILARLY WITH CORRUPTIVE PROPERTIES AND TIES TO DESIRE.

in the one shot the weird egg thing and the entire area they were in dealt heavily in desire.

when corrupted people in the black sea are slain their strongest desires from when they were alive were passed on to the person who killed them (jays newfound desire to find the dread queens tomb, gillions desire to help the tree, and whatever chips desire was cuz i’ve completely forgotten but it’s probably incredibly relevant 😅).

whatever chips ties are to the hole in the sea, and possibly to the prophecy, and the entirety of the black rose pirates legacy, i feel like we’re gonna find that a lot of the things regarding chips past is gonna be a whole lot more important to mana than we thought.

and i’m incredibly excited.
