For Your Entertainment ~ Chapter One

Summary: Luigi receives a mysterious letter.

Warnings: N/A

A/N: Welcome to the show! This is a dark little horror-esque story I wrote and finished up last year, and since it’s the month of spookiness, what better time than now to post it here? It may be a bit familiar to some people since I’ve published it elsewhere before, but I have changed and polished up some things since it’s publication last year. To the newcomers, welcome! Fair warning in advance though, this story will get darker. Keep an eye out for warnings in the future. But until then and without further ado, enjoy!

“Mail call!” Parakarry’s voice eagerly called out through the morning air.

He flapped his wings before landing, stretching out his arms and wings before reaching into his mailbag. He opened the mailbox outside the manor before him, whistling as he dug through his bag for the mail meant for this house.

He craned his neck, turning up to look at the green manor situated just up a small hill, a stone path leading to the front door. The quaint manor was certainly not the most extravagant of living spaces, but it was suitable. There was a well maintained garden gracing the front lawn, flowers of all colors, shapes, and sizes displayed upon the path.

Parakarry wiped the sweat off his brow, readying himself to fly off again when a voice called out.

“Good morning, Parakarry!”

Parakarry stopped, turning.

The owner of the manor appeared, rushing down the stone path to greet the Paratroopa with a smile on his face. The brunette’s hair was messy, his mustache uncombed as visible dark circles became apparent under his bright blue eyes. He had most likely just crawled out of bed.

“Ah, Luigi! Good to see you’re chipper today.” Parakarry grinned, watching as Luigi rushed up to the fence lining the yard, leaning against it.

“How’re you doing today, Parakarry?”

“I’m doing quite well. A bit frazzled, but quite well.”

“A lot of stuff to deliver today, huh?”

“That’s not even the half of it.” Parakarry chuckled. “The post office has been chaos since this morning. Postmaster said there was this little toad girl running around the office asking the rest of the employees about something. She’d been there since we opened. Totally threw him for a loop.”

“Do you know who she was?”

“No idea. The Postmaster thinks she was handing out fliers for something, I don’t know. He was already ordering me to get my tail out here, I didn’t have time to ask.”

“Oh, well, you’re right on schedule, I’d say.” Luigi laughed.

“I’d like to think I’m getting much better at delivering the mail on time.” Parakarry chuckled, slightly embarrassed. “If you happen to find anything in your mail is missing, that’s probably my fault… But, I’ll be sure to drop anything I missed off later, once I finish my route for today.”

“Well, don’t work too hard. Can I get you anything before you head off, Parakarry? I could get you a drink or something…”

“Oh, no. I’m in fine shape. Just have a long day ahead of me. There’s been a lot more letters coming in recently, which I hypothesize has something to do with that get-together the princess has been planning.”

“It’s only a meeting, Parakarry. I don’t think it’s that exciting.” Luigi smiled. “No one’s gonna be sending letters out to their grandparents about some king or prince coming to the Mushroom Kingdom to discuss economics with the princess.”

“Well, Toad Town gets excited over the littlest things, you know. Whether that be royalty figures getting together for, say… a ball, or a meeting, or a conference, or even for... tea time, really!”

“They’re just gonna be talking about trade negotiations and stuff like that. It’s all boring.”

“Oh, right, I’m sorry. I forgot you knew so much about the princess’s business ever since you and that prince got hitched… Your Highness.” Parakarry sneered, bowing playfully. “You’re going to be at the meeting anyway, don’t even know why I brought it up.”

“I’m not really royalty, Parakarry.” Luigi crossed his arms, a faint blush on his face as he turned, exhaling. “I’m just the prince consort.”

“Sureee… whatever you say.” Parakarry shrugged. “Just don’t come crying to me if you ever get kidnapped by Bowser or anything. If his knack for capturing royalty keeps up, that is.”

Luigi chuckled. “Then you’ll have to team up with Mario again to rescue me, I suppose.”

“I guess so.” Parakarry flapped his wings, turning away from Luigi with a hearty laugh. “I really should be on my way, though, friend. I still have so many letters to deliver, and there are so many impatient homeowners out there. A postman’s job is never done, after all!”

“I understand.” Luigi stepped back, smiling. “Be safe out there.”

“Of course!”

And with that, Parakarry flew off. Luigi waved goodbye to him, watching the postman until he disappeared from view into the cloudy sky in the distance.

Luigi stretched before pushing open the fence's wooden gate, retrieving his mail and sifting through it. He yawned, trying to rub the sleep out of his eyes as the sun continued to creep up over the hillside.

The mail mostly consisted of bills and scam letters from Waluigi, but a postcard from Mario made him smile, a warm feeling now in his chest. It was nice to think that his brother still had time to send him things, despite how busy he must be, traveling the world with his newfound cap companion and whatnot.

Luigi walked back into his manor groggily, dropping off the mail on the kitchen counter before walking to the bathroom to freshen up.

His pet, Polterpup, followed him curiously, leaping up against his owner’s legs to try and get his attention. Luigi smiled, laughing and promising the ghostly pup playtime later. He still had something to do today, after all.

Luigi did just enough to appear suitable before heading back out the door, walking down the path towards Toad Town. He had been up since early morning only because he wanted to get to Tayce T.’s kitchen before it got too crowded, and morning was his best bet. He didn’t exactly like being out alone at night, and Grambi forbid some poor soul try to go to the bakery in the afternoon. Luigi cringed at the thought.

All he needed was to pick up some ingredients for a few recipes he'd gotten as gifts from Peach for his birthday. While he was relatively good at cooking, he didn’t know a whole lot about making pastries. That was the princess’s specialty, not his. Luigi usually stuck to making various spaghetti dishes. But, most of the recipes given to him were for cakes, muffins, cupcakes, and the like, so he’d have to get a few ingredients from Tayce T. if he hoped on ever finishing even one of the recipes.

Not that he minded waking up early anyway. Early morning walks were always so beautiful. The creatures were starting to stir, and the sun was just starting to rise. He breathed slowly, taking in all the sights until he made his way into Toad Town.

Toads were congregating outside, walking in and out of stores and talking amongst themselves. Luigi’s presence didn’t faze them, not like if Mario was there. But, Luigi was fine with that. He didn’t like being randomly talked to and swarmed anyway. The toads still waved and said hello as he passed though, Luigi politely greeting them in return.

He eventually made it into Tayce T.’s kitchen, the little cook glancing up at Luigi as he entered. A faint smile graced her face as he walked in. She was already moving to reach into a cupboard to retrieve his items before he could even request anything of her.

”Ah, Luigi, welcome in! I’ve been preparing what you ordered. Just allow me to clarify…” She hummed, putting a bag out on the counter. “You just wanted the cake mix and a honey shroom, right?”

Luigi nodded, handing over the sufficient amount of coins for her as he smiled. “Grazie.”

She took the payment hesitantly, exhaling. “It's always so nice to see such a happy face, Luigi. I take it your morning has been lovely?”

”Yep! Actually, I was planning on making something sweet tonight for my hus-” Luigi paused upon noticing Tayce T.’s sunken features. Her gaze wasn’t focused on Luigi, instead staring forward with dull eyes. She looked… sad. “A-Are you alright, Ms. Tayce?”

”W-What? Oh, yes. My apologies!” Tayce T. flinched and held her hands together, nodding. “I’ve just been thinking about… oh, there was this incident this morning and… I don’t know. I'm sure it'll be alright. I'm fine." She offered a weak smile.

Luigi ventured further. “You’re… sure?”

”Most certainly, Luigi.”

"Do you want to talk-"

”Hey!” Another toad’s voice cut in, Luigi flipping around to make eye contact with a very agitated customer, who was tapping their foot impatiently on the floor. “Some of us also want to buy stuff!”

”O-Oh, I’m sorry, I-”

Tayce T. reached at Luigi’s hand, handing him his bag of ingredients. She smiled. ”Take care, Luigi. I trust I’ll see you again soon?”

"Oh, y-yeah!” Luigi attempted before being curtly shoved aside by the other toad.

Tayce T. looked at the customer disapprovingly before softening her expression, Luigi looking back at her. She glanced away before waving goodbye as Luigi made his way out the door.

Luigi sighed, cradling the bag of ingredients in his arms as he started back toward home. The walk back was peaceful, the young brunette catching small bits of conversation as the toads spoke to one another, talking about the day ahead.

”-and you haven’t seen him at all?”

The fragments of a conversation caught his attention.

He turned a corner, noticing a bright pink figure with her back turned to him, talking to a green-capped, mustached toad with glasses on his face. He was looking over a piece of paper, rubbing at his chin.

”...Nope. Can’t say I have. I wish you the best of luck in finding ‘im though.”

The pink figure stared down at the ground defeatedly as the green toad walked away, only perking her head up when she heard her name called.

”Toadette!”

”Luigi…?”

Luigi approached with a smile on his face, but froze, his breath hitching as Toadette turned to face him. Her expression was pale and positively mortified, clutching staggering amounts of paper in her arms like a vice.

”Toadette, a-are you okay?”

”Have you seen Toad?!”

The question caught him off guard.

”N-No… I haven’t. What’s wrong?”

Toadette wiped at the tears forming in her eyes, whimpering as she tried to compose herself. "T-Toad… Toad, he… I don’t know where he is, Luigi!”

Luigi felt his chest stiffen. “What?”

”A-About a week ago, I went out of the house to go hang out with Birdetta, and I left Toad home alone. When I got back later that night, he wasn’t there. And I-I don’t know where he would’ve gone, because I was only out for a few hours and-d he didn’t tell me he was going anywhere, and he would’ve told me if he did, and he didn’t leave a note or an-anything a-and I-!”

”Hey, hey…” Luigi, despite his own growing anxiety, tried to comfort Toadette. “Slow down.”

”I tried to j-just wait it out to see if he’d come home, but he still isn’t back! I wanted to take matters into my own hands, because I don’t know if h-he ran away, or if he got lost, or worse, but I-I couldn’t stand to just sit there while my brother was still missing, so I-I made these...”

She paused, sniffling and reaching towards the bundle of papers in her arms. She handed one over to Luigi, Luigi’s face noticeably paling as he examined the page.

It was a missing poster, the words alarmingly bolded with a photograph of Toad plastered on it, information lining the bottom.

”I tried getting these hung up all over town, the post office, the club, the boardwalk, the kitchen… b-but… no one has seen h-him so far, and I-I…” Toadette released a sob, nearly falling into Luigi’s arms.

”Toadette…” Luigi tried to reach a hand out to comfort her, but she shrunk back.

“I-I guess I’m probably just o-overreacting… he… he’s old enough to do what he wants… I-I just,” she hiccuped between sobs. “I wish he would’ve told me where he was going! I-I just want him to be okay. B-But, if he doesn’t want to be f-found, then…” She shook her head. ”If he doesn’t turn up s-soon, I’m going to go out and find him myself…! I-I have to know if my brother is okay!”

”Th-That sounds dangerous.” Luigi squeaked out. “I-I can look with you, and I’m sure Peasley wouldn’t object to joining us… You shouldn’t go alone.”

”Hopefully it won’t come to that.” Toadette concluded with a sigh, turning away as she rubbed at her eyes. “Just… keep an eye out for him, please. If you hear from him, let me know.”

”R-Right. Of course.”

Luigi didn’t have time to say anything else before Toadette promptly rushed off, approaching another couple of toads, handing them each the posters. Luigi turned to continue back home, despite now feeling a heavy sensation swelling deep within his chest.

An ominous feeling of dread loomed over him as he walked back to the manor.

Luigi’s walk back was mostly silent, aside from the occasional heavy sigh or nervous hum.

The thoughts of worry produced by the single haunting image of one of his friends on a missing poster made his stomach twist. He tried to steady his breathing and think rationally as he approached his house, sighing. As he passed the fence gate outside the manor and approached the door up the stone path, however, he paused.

There was an envelope placed on the doorknob, delicately balanced atop it.

Confused, he shifted his holding on the bag of ingredients and picked up the note, flipping it over to see if there was any information on it. All that was printed on the envelope was a picture of a star, colored in a violet ink.

Perhaps Parakarry had left one of his letters in the post office after all.

He pushed open the door, putting the cake mix and honey shroom away before carefully tearing open the mysterious envelope. With cautious fingers, he removed a sheet of paper from within and began to read what was neatly printed upon it.

‘Hello, Luigi.

It’s been awhile, hasn’t it? Far too long, I’d say. How long has it been? It was quite hard to keep track of time down there, I’m afraid.

I’ve been really busy, you see. It’s taken me ever so long to send you this letter.

They tried their hardest, their very hardest, to contain me. And I admire their amusing attempts. But, I’m quite the persistent person, like a spider weaving its web over and over on a rainy day.

To think, life works in mysterious ways. It’s quite funny, really, how our pasts catch up to us.

You and I have plenty in common. You may hate to admit it, but it’s true. You and I are much closer than you’d like to think. Haven’t you felt lonesome without me? I’m apart of you, after all.

May I indulge you in a secret?

You ruined me, Luigi.

Your weakness brought about my downfall. It led me to a horrific afterlife of endless torment. I endured so much suffering. Loneliness and eternal solitude consumed my days.

But, now, I’ve escaped from that treacherous prison known as death. And, as I had plenty of time to ponder, I know exactly what I want now.

I want to see you suffer, just as I had.

I’m going to make your life a living nightmare. All who you know and love, will be guaranteed a long and painful demise at my hands.

You ruined my chance at happiness and I’m only returning the favor.

I want nothing more than to see you break as you are forced to watch your life crumble apart.

I’ve spent so much time preparing for this, you see.

I shan’t spoil the surprise. Not yet. Nor will I reveal my identity. I want you to experience every moment of this spectacle for yourself.

It will be quite a show.

I’ll see you again soon, Luigi. I’m much closer than you’d like to think.

alright it’s @rumtumtuggers birthday today!!! happy birthday hunter, now you can finally leave middle school,

but no really im so glad we’ve started talking more?? honestly being able to bounce ideas off of you and hearing all the great and creative ideas you come up with has made me feel so much more creative and i cant possibly thank you enough for that. thanks for joining rwby hell with me! im so happy we started talking more and really became friends. anyway! i hope you have a good year coming up....

in honor of rwby hell, here is some actual rwbies from “hell”, aka some random white rose scene from demon au

“Do you dream?”

“What?” Ruby rolls over to face Weiss, who just glances at her demon and then back up at the canopy.

“The way you were talking before. It sounded like you didn’t know. Do you actually dream?”

“No,” Ruby admits. That’s not entirely true. She thinks she used to, once. But it was so long ago that she’s forgotten. “What’s it like?”

No matter how many contracts Ruby takes with mortals, she’ll never get used to the mind numbing boredom of waiting for them to finish sleeping. And they get so fussy if she tries to wake them, too! It’s sooo annoying. And sure, she could sleep too, but that’s boring and unnecessary and she has much better things to do during her limited time in the mortal world.

Sometimes Ruby just wakes up her contracted human and bothers them until they entertain her, but she won’t for Weiss. She actually likes Weiss. So instead she’s lounging on the luxurious couch on the other side of the room (Weiss got all huffy the first time Ruby tried to lay on the bed, so exiled to the couch it is).

The tip of her cape lays on the floor while she sprawls on the fancy pillows and holds the “tablet” above her to play the silly fruit game Weiss showed her. The screen and the moonlight filtering in through the windows lights the room up silver and blue.

She just beats level 945 with a soft “Oooh yes!” when Weiss makes a choked gasp and sits upright in bed.

Ruby glances up lazily to make sure that Weiss isn’t actually dying, but she’d be able to sense that. Contract stuff -- it’s no good to contract to a human who ends up dying. It kinda stings. But no, she can tell Weiss isn’t dying. Cool. It’d be inconvenient if Weiss died, and also a little sad.

“Good morning,” Ruby drawls.

At her voice, Weiss nearly jumps out of her skin. “Wh...?” She blinks at Ruby, and then the clock on her bedside table. “It’s... it’s not morning,” She stammers. “It’s two am.”

“You’re awake, aren’t you?” Ruby swipes another combo on the screen. “Then it’s morning. Let’s go!”

“I didn’t wake up for you,” Weiss hisses. “I just... woke up.”

“Noooot seeing a difference.”

“I had a nightmare, okay?” Weiss’ voice pitches up in a strange way. It’s enough to get Ruby to put the tablet down and look over. “It’s not important. I’ll go back to sleep in a minute.”

“Oh. That’s rough. I think.” Ruby offers helplessly. “I know some demons who eat nightmares. Nightmares are the bad ones, right? Or maybe they cause them, and it was that one angel who eats them. Or...”

“You-- Never mind. I’ll pass.”

“Suit yourself.” Ruby fumbles around the couch to find where she threw the Scroll, until she hears a low whining noise. She looks up, but Weiss is looking at her hands clenching the blankets.

For all her impatience, this time Ruby knows to simply wait and watch. And just as she expected, Weiss eventually unfurls.

“I don’t want to be alone,” Weiss says, her voice soft and almost wavering.

“I’m right over here,” Ruby replies with a shrug.

“That’s not--” Weiss frowns. “Just... come over here. Please.”

Even if Ruby doesn’t totally get it, she obeys and wordlessly crawls onto the bed. There’s plenty of room for both of them, but Weiss still scoots over to make space for her. Taking the cue, she lays back against the pillows, even if she’s still on top of the blankets. Weiss doesn’t say anything and Ruby just stares up at the canopy.

“...Am I supposed to be doing something?”

“Just be quiet for one second, you dolt.”

“Oooookay. One--”

Weiss smacks her shoulder and Ruby just grins, but she’s quiet after that.

“Do you dream?”

“What?” Ruby rolls over to face Weiss, who just glances at her demon and then back up at the canopy.

“The way you were talking before. It sounded like you didn’t know. Do you actually dream?”

“No,” Ruby admits. That’s not entirely true. She thinks she used to, once. But it was so long ago that she’s forgotten. “What’s it like?”

Instead of answering her immediately, Weiss stares up at the ceiling. “It’s like…. Watching a movie. No. It’s like someone telling you a story, but you’re living it, except everything’s kind of hazy. Like... a cloud?”

“Hmmm.” That sounds strange and alarming, the way lesser demons describe being bound by their true names, but Ruby can’t quite imagine it. “I love stories. Yang used to read them to me.”

“Very old stories, I imagine,” Weiss adds. “Like ‘The Death and the Farmer’?”

Ruby laughs loudly. Weiss frowns at her. “What’s so funny?! That’s one of my favorites!”

She has to wipe the tears from her eyes, but eventually Ruby manages to settle down. “Yeah, Yang told me that one, sorta. A veeerrry different version than the one you know, I bet.”

“The version I know is probably better,” Weiss rolls her eyes. “But... maybe sometime we can compare notes.”

“Mmm, alright. If you’d like that.”

Weiss wraps her arms around one of Ruby’s arms and rests her head against Ruby’s shoulder. Ruby blinks up at the mild darkness, but allows it.

They fall into silence again. She hears Weiss’ breathing start to slow, so she must’ve fallen back asleep.

With Weiss so close, Ruby’s reminded of just how warm humans are. They’re a good few degrees cooler than Ruby herself -- though even Ruby doesn’t run as warm as Yang -- but there’s something charming about human’s more gentle warmth. It’s soft and radiating, like an old memory.

“Goodnight, Weiss,” She murmurs gently, and closes her own eyes.

Ruby doesn’t dream, of course. That much wasn’t a lie. She’s not in the business of lying.

When she does fall asleep, it’s usually either empty blackness or a swift drop into a different plane of existence. Mortals might call it a ‘dream realm’, which is nice if she and Yang want to meet up from halfway across the world (if they can sync up right).

But sometimes, if she lingers just on the edge of the darkness and the drop, she remembers things. Faded bits and pieces.

Even though she hasn’t said anything, she can tell that Dad knows what her decision is going to be. The way his smile doesn’t reach all the way to his eyes, the sad glint in his gaze when he thinks she isn’t looking. Ruby wishes she could tell him that he’s wrong. He’s not.

Technically she’s not supposed to tell anyone yet. Ancient rules and all. On sundown of her ...th birthday, she must choose. She can’t live with one foot in two worlds at once. Mortal or demon. Such is fate for halflings like her.

Dad’s been sad ever since Yang left .... years ago. And Ruby loves her dad, but she loves and misses Yang too, and she wants to see her and Mom more than once a year.

At least she’ll get to see them today before she decides! That’s the benefit of her birthday falling on ... (In the future they will call it All Hallow’s Eve, and then Halloween, and many other lost names). It’s the one time Mom and now Yang can visit.

Dad kisses her forehead when they leave the house. It’s a small farm house in the middle of the ... forest, on the island of ...., but Ruby loves it. She’ll miss it. Zwei barks and circles her legs as she picks up basket of food. The most morbid picnic ever.

They trek through the forest turning red all the way up to the cliffside meeting place. The meeting place is beside a marker stone, older than the town, which reads:

............... .................... Death knows this place .............

When they arrive, it’s close enough to dusk that Mom and Yang are already waiting for them there.

There’s something different about Yang now. Even if it’s been ... (Two, yes, two years), Ruby’s still not used to it. It’s a sharpness in her eyes or the way her hair almost glows. Her laugh seems to echo. It’s that unreal quality that Mom’s always had, she just never thought about it before because it was Mom.

Yang immediately runs to hug her. Ruby nearly suffocates in her grip, but wraps her arms around her sister anyway. Summer doesn’t, of course, because there’s only one time she can touch Ruby or Dad. Still, she laughs and smiles and tells Ruby how much she loves her.

They all sit down to watch the setting sun and have their own feast. Dad and Ruby eat the pastries they made this morning. Summer takes an apple and watches it disintegrate in her grasp, which is like eating for her. Yang eats some of the dried meat they brought in a single bite, and Ruby thinks she sees sharp teeth. She shivers, and only most of it is excitement.

Then the sun finally sets and everyone looks at her. She smiles sadly and says, “Sorry, Dad.” Because, to be honest, it was never a question which she would choose.

He hugs her tight and says goodbye, and then he and Zwei alone go back to the forest and towards home. She’s left on the cliff with Mom and Yang. Mom smiles, but Yang looks apologetic.

“I should warn you,” She says, “This is gonna hurt.”

“I… okay,” Ruby says, lightheaded from the realization of what she’s done. “Why?”

“The human part of you has to die,” Mom answers, with the infinite gentleness she’s always possessed. “I’m sorry. But we’ll be here for you.”

They’re not lying. About any of it.

“I thought you didn’t need to sleep.”

Ruby blinks away to white hair tickling her nose. She sneezes and Weiss reels back with a yelp of disgust. Eventually Ruby sits up and rubs her eyes.

“I don’t need too,” She yawns, “I just choose to sometimes.”

“Well, choose to be awake right now.” Weiss puts her hands on her hips. Ruby deliberately moves slowly just to annoy her. “We need to be at a dress fitting in an hour.”

“Uuuugh, why? I’m pretty sure I’m older than, like, the concept of dresses. Why do I have to do this?”

“I highly doubt that.” For all her huffing, Weiss does offer Ruby a pastry she must’ve stolen from the kitchen. How rebellious! “We have that ball to go to this weekend, and we need to get appropriate attire. Mostly for you.”

Ruby devours the croissant in one bite. “Why do I have to go?”

“Father insists on it. It’s customary in Atlas to show off a bound demon.”

At first, Ruby rolls her eyes. She’s not really bound, even if she won’t tell Weiss that. It might spook her to know that Ruby’s not chained here by anything more than own amusement. The enjoyment she finds spending time with Weiss is a much stronger spell than anything else mortals try to use on her.

What she does do is narrow her eyes at Weiss and then grin wolfishly. “Aaaaand you want me to keep you company around all those stuff Atlas folks.”

Weiss frowns and looks away briefly. “...Perhaps.”

“Awww, Weiss, it’s okay, you can admit that you like m--”

Luckily for Weiss, her Scroll beeps. She promptly ignores Ruby, who flops back onto the bed. She waits until Weiss finishes typing out a message and come back over to the bed to glare at Ruby before pestering Weiss. “Who was that?”

“My fr-- that pen pal of mine. You remember.”

“The one with the blue hair?” “No! Not him. The one with your sister.”

“Oh.” Ruby sits up. “Oh! Did she mention Yang? How is she?”

Now it’s Weiss’ turn to roll her eyes. “She sounds fine. We’re just commiserating. She’s got a stupid event for work the same day as the ball.”

“Misery loves company!”

“Just get moving. Please. I am begging you.”

Pouty Weiss isn’t as fun as Cheerful Weiss, so Ruby does eventually get up. She smooths out her cape and watches at Weiss moves around the room to get some appropriate clothes for going out. She side-eyes the jacket Weiss is approaching with.

“If you don’t make me wear that, I’ll tell you demon secrets,” Ruby watches with a feral glint in her eye.

Weiss hesitates and lowers the jacket. “You need to look presentable.”

“No I don’t. I’m a demon. And most of the ones roaming around here look way worse than me.”

Eventually, Weiss sets the jacket down. “Alright.” She turns to leave and Ruby, automatically now, falls in step beside her.

“How about I tell you how wrong your version of ‘Death and the Farmer’ is?”

“That’s not a very good secret.”

“But it's fun.” Ruby folds her hands behind her head. “But first you’ve got to tell me the version you know.”

There’s a moment of silence as Weiss frowns and struggles to remember. “Once upon a time there was a farmer who lived in the middle of a forest on a lonely island. He had two daughters--”

“Nope.” Ruby pops her lips on the p sound. “Only one daughter.”

“What? Every version I’ve heard, he has two.”

“Oh, he does. Just not yet.”

Weiss furrows her brow. “If he only has one daughter before Death comes, then who’s the other daughter’s mother?”

“Did they seriously write that out?” Ruby laughs. “I guess they didn’t want to encourage people to date demons.”

“Death is her mother?”

Ruby just smiles.

It was the second day of school and Theo stood at the bus stop waiting impatiently for the bus to arrive. He didn’t feel as nervous as yesterday but he could still feel butterflies in his stomach. He was excited to meet Liam again and when the bus stopped he hopped on straight away and started to scout for Liam. This time when the bus started with a jump he was prepared and only swayed a bit. He met a familiar face on the same place as yesterday and his face lit up when the blue-eyed boy yelled “Hi Theo!”. Theo’s smile faded slightly when he noticed that Liam was sitting next to another boy, with a short buzzcut. “This is Mason” Liam explained happily. “Oh. Hi” Theo said shyly. He started to look around for another place to sit as he felt like he was intruding. “You can sit with us” Liam said just as Theo was about to go to an empty seat. The boys had moved so there was a tiny space next to Liam. “You sure?” Theo said nervously and looked at the two boys. Mason smiled and Liam let out an “Of course!” and Theo sat down.

It wasn’t much space to sit at and Theo still felt like he intruded on them. Mason and Liam started talking about some new game that had come out and they both put out there phones. It was some sort of driving game. You had to drive a race in as short time as possible, avoiding obstacles. “Have you tried it?” Liam suddenly said directing the attention to Theo. “I.. I don’t.. Have a phone” Theo stuttered discouraged and his cheeks turned a bit red as he felt embarrassed of not having a phone. “Oh” Liam let out, and it sounded concerned. “You can try it on mine!”. It was Mason offering his phone to Theo. Theo looked at the phone in the boy’s hand and then at Mason’s face. “Wow thanks!” Theo said grateful and took the phone. Both Mason and Liam quickly explained how it worked and Theo took in what they said. He wasn’t very good at it but he managed to get a decent time, obviously no high score but it was still good both Liam and Mason exclaimed. The bus came to stop at the school and Theo handed the phone back to Mason. “Thanks for letting me borrow it!” he said with a smile before they all got off the crowded seat and the bus. The boys talked and laughed together at their way to class. When they separated, Liam and Mason going to their class and Theo going to his, Theo felt a lot more at ease. Mason had been really nice too, maybe just slightly more shy than Liam but Theo liked them both.

This went on for a couple of weeks, and the boys grew closer together. Even Mason, who indeed was a bit more shy and reserved against Theo, got to be a good friend of Theo. From time to time Theo felt a little bit left out though since Mason and Liam had been best friends for years, and Theo had only known them for three weeks. When the school day ended and the boys were headed to the bus Liam’s phone dinged and he quickly got it out. Liam let out a loud giggle causing Mason and Theo sharing a look at eachother in confusion and then looked at Liam. “What’s going on?” Mason asked, also excited and curious on what Liam had read. “We got a trampoline!!” Liam shouted. “What? That’s so cool!” Theo and Mason said in unison. “Yeah! Do you guys want to come home with me so we can try it out?” Liam said with glittery eyes. Mason said that unfortunately he couldn’t because it was his mom’s birthday. “I can come” Theo said when Liam looked at him, obviously wanting to know if he could come home with him. Liam let out an excited “Yay!” and added on that Mason had to come next time.

They all got onto the bus and this time Theo didn’t got off at his usual station. Mason left the bus about three stops before Theo and Liam got off. Even if Theo hadn’t really been paying attention as to where they were, he could tell that Liam lived a long way from the school. The bus had been nearly empty when they left. They arrived at Liam’s house and Theo was amazed by how big it was. Well, it wasn’t the biggest house he’d seen but his own house was really tiny. They didn’t bother going inside but instead went straight to the backyard, which was even bigger than the house. Theo couldn’t help but let out a “wow”. He looked around a bit noticing a table with about five chairs around it, a little pond and maybe 4 different fruit trees. “Come on!” Liam suddenly said and had already gotten up on the trampoline. Theo put down his bag next to it before climbing up himself. They both started jumping and laughing.

“Your yard is really big” Theo said. “Yeah, it’s great! And on the summers we usually have a pool over there” Liam pointed to an empty spot where the grass clearly wasn’t as well taken care of then the rest of the garden. “My yard can’t even fit a pool” Theo said. He didn’t know why he felt so sad saying it, but at his old house in Madison they had had a yard almost twice the size as Liam’s. They didn’t say much after that just continued on jumping. Theo felt stupid for having said that but it had just slipped out. “Theo?” Liam suddenly said in a serious voice. “Yeah?” he answered. “Do you miss your old place?”. Theo stopped jumping and so did Liam. “Sometimes” Theo said with a shrug and looked down on his feet. “I mean, we had a bigger house there…” he mumbled. They were quiet for almost a minute before Liam spoke. “Even if you miss your old place I’m happy you moved here” he said causing Theo to look up and meet his blue eyes. Liam shrugged slightly before continuing. “Because otherwise I wouldn’t have met you and we hadn’t become friends” he said and Theo got a big smile on his face, hearing that. “That’s true” he giggled. “You’re a good friend Liam” he said. Liam smiled back and was just about to say something when they were interrupted. “Do you and your friend want to have dinner?” a middleaged woman with the same hair colour as Liam, Theo assuming it was Liam’s mother, poked her head out of the window. “Yes please!” Liam shouted back and turned to Theo. “Do you want to eat here?” he asked which Theo nodded to. “Yes please!” he said and they both ran inside. Liams house was clean and looked nice with a big kitchen and a big living room. Liam showed him his room before they went to the kitchen and sat down at a big wooden table. Liams room had included a bed, a desk, a tv, two closets and one bureau. At the dinner table Theo had been polite and gotten to know Liam’s parents a bit. Well, as much as an 11 year old gets to know someone’s parents. When dinner was done he thanked Mr and Mrs Dunbar for the food and then it was time for him to head home.

“I’ll see you tomorrow” Liam said after having explained to him how he would get home again. It was still kind of clear and light outside so walking home wasn’t scary or anything. When he was almost half way home he realised that he hadn’t told his parents where he’d went after school and he started running to get home faster. They were probably worried sick by now, Theo thought, thinking how it had been around 7 when he left Liams and school had finished at 2. He rushed inside when he arrived and immediately started to explain where he’d been and how sorry he was for not calling or telling them. His parents had barely looked up at him when he’d stormed inside and when he’d finished his explaining his mom had went straight back to her computer. “Well, Theo it’s alright. We didn’t really notice that you were gone” his father said in a calm quiet voice. “There’s some food in the fridge if you’re hungry” his mom added. Theo felt his heart drop to his feet at his parents words and it felt like he swallowed glue. “I ate at Liam’s house” he mumbled dryly before pacing to his room. His room consisted of a bed, a desk and one closet. He sat down at his desk and cupped his head in his hands and slowly the tears started to flow. He cried quietly and had to remove his hair multiple times from his face as it stuck to the tears. He looked at himself in the mirror, suddenly feeling nothing but anger. Quickly he opened the top drawer of the desk and took out a scissor. He started to cut his hair until it was about five centimetres long at most. When he was finished he looked at himself in the mirror again. His hair was a mess but he couldn’t help but smile slightly because he had finally gotten his hair cut.

the best version of yourself

mina isn’t the type to feel ashamed of herself. everyone around her new that she was confident and outspoken. whatever she thought of inside her head, there would be a 59% chance she’d say it with a 41% chance she’d keep it to herself just because she had some manners. of course, she had some class by making a bunch of rant posts on her spam rather than on her main instagram or main twitter. some of her thoughts on real life would go on her stan twitter, but she’s tried her best to keep that mainly kpop and movies. but, to be honest, she wouldn’t have made a spam had it not been for her mutuals and her friends in real life.

this time, however, she felt emotions that she was afraid to tell anyone else.

she usually watched the gayos on her own, since she was the only one in the house who had an interest in them because her favorite idols were on that show. however, the one she always kept an eye on was mbc’s gayo daejejun because of the amazing stages that the idols would perform. not to mention, it was the gayo with the countdown to the new year. however, this time, she debated if she even wanted to watch it considering that this was the same exact one that she made a video audition for, only to not get in.

when she saw the post on mbc’s page, she was disappointed, but not surprised. it was bold of her to assume she would ever get the chance compared to the other dancers. when she watched the other entries, she was already beginning to feel insecure. but seeing the announcement only supported her negative feelings. however, one name catches her eye and it’s the main reason why she watches the music show tonight.

chungha isn’t the only reason why she’s watching this, but she’s the one mina looks forward to seeing the most. it’s weird how almost two years ago, mina became a fan from watching her on the fourth season of the mgas. now, she was watching her as not only a fan, but a friend. it’s only a glow up she can talk about on her spam, but she’s able to use her excitement for her tweets while streaming.

she makes sure to tweet about her favorite idols and their performances before the awaited dance performance comes. when it begins, she quickly takes out her phone as she patiently waits for her friend to be shown on her screen. she manages to record the 30 seconds of chungha’s dance on her instagram story while whisper-screaming throughout all of it. “ahh!!! kim chungha is so cool!!!! she’s the coolest unnie ever!!!” and a bunch of “wow!”’s and “so cool!”’s. for the group performance, she kept all her excitement on her twitter with a few pictures saved for her spam later on.

it’s odd. before watching this, she thought she was going to feel an overwhelming amount of jealousy just by seeing chungha for a second. but after the performance ended, she couldn’t help but feel inspired. perhaps it was because of the fact that this wasn’t the first time she’s seen chungha on national television, but mina didn’t feel too upset like she thought she would. what a relief.

she posts the pictures on her spamsta (spam + finsta) once the countdown for the new year is finished and captions it with her thoughts. after she posted it, she locked her phone, turned off her tv, and went upstairs to go to bed, excited for what was to come in the future.

watching her tonight gave me so much motivation tbh. i remember i used to be so… starstruck by her when i first saw her on mga4 and now i know her in real life and we’re friends !!!! i’m so glad she got to audition for this and perform onstage in front of a bunch of idols. she’s so cool!!!!

i’m gonna work hard with future covers so that i can hopefully be dancing on that same stage!!!!!!!!! it’d be cooler if it was w her!!!! but yeah. hopefully if i work hard enough, i can be on the stage like her (and my cousin and brother if theyre reading this who knows)

having been on stan twitter since she moved back to korea, she’s gotten to explore the many sides of the website. though she’s primarily a kpop fan account, she also keeps tabs on film twitter. it’s to the point where she even has mutuals who are apart of that community and she frequently talks to them about her favorite movies (recently, it’s been about it 2 because she loves her best boys richie and eddie). so of course, when she asked for movie recommendations on her account, she hoped that said mutuals would see it and give their insight.

though there were many suggestions, she chose lady bird by the end of it. she knew about the movie years ago, but she never really got around to watching it until now. she’s read mixed reviews, so she was never really able to form a solid opinion on this movie. she told herself not to expect much, since this was a coming-of-age film. but, by the end of it, she found herself in tears. she goes on twitter and writes up a tweet as a response to the movie.

before she’s about to make a tweet about watching midsommar next, she hears her phone vibrate. putting her laptop to the side, she picks up her phone and sees an email from snu.

dear mina,

the admissions committee at seoul national university has re-reviewed all aspects of your application in its holistic review process, and you have an updated admissions decision. you may now view your updated admissions decision in your portal.

she gasps.

as she clicks on the link to her portal and logs in, she was immediately welcomed by the site with a big “CONGRATULATIONS!” and if that wasn’t already obvious enough for her, she looks around to find the little “status: accepted” on her page. she sighs in relief and puts her phone to the side as she lies on her bed. she’s not necessarily excited that she got into a school. even now, she was still questioning if she wanted to go to school to begin with. all she knew was that at this point, she was going somewhere. whether or not this is what she really wanted to do, she at least has an idea of where she’s starting.

maybe now her mom would stop badgering her. maybe now she can show her that she could do things without her.

…

“i got accepted into snu today.”

it’s used to start discussion, even though she didn’t really want to talk about it with her. it had to come out somehow because even if she was nervous with how she was going to reply, at least her mom would be aware of it.

her father was the first to say something about it and mina wants to verbally thank him for speaking before her mom does. “honey, congratulations! i knew you would be able to get into that school.”

“thank you,” mina says with a small smile before she looks over at her mom to see what she will respond with because it was obvious she had something to say about it.

“why did it take so long for a response?” she asks. “you applied for early decision, didn’t you?”

it takes a lot for mina to not say something snarky in response. she’s not going to do that now. not so soon. “well, competition’s pretty tough. a lot of kids are applying for snu. especially in my class.” she wasn’t exactly lying, but it was a better response than “i was waitlisted for a month.” and even if she responded with that, at least she got into the school. wasn’t that enough?

her mom lets out a small “hm” before eating more of their dinner. “well, good job on getting into that school. with how long the response took, i was starting to worry.”

mina frowns. “i got into other schools, you know.”

“but did you want to get into any of those other schools?” when mina’s silent for a response, her mother only continues. “you said that you were aiming for snu and it took long enough in order to get a response.”

“can’t you just be happy over the fact that i actually got into the school?” mina asks, feeling her voice rise. “i thought you would be proud of me. is it that much of a surprise that i got in?”

“all of your friends got accepted into their schools quicker.” mina feels her grip tighten on the chopsticks in her hands. “all i’m saying is you should’ve at least tried harder or at least recognize that you should’ve done better.”

mina finds it hard to calm down after hearing that. it’s not like she didn’t expect a response like that, but to actually hear it from her makes her laugh bitterly. it’s sad to say she’s not surprised because this was what their relationship is at this point. even if she told herself that she just wanted to get into school in order to get her mom off her back, her words only make it seem like she was mocking her even if she reached at least the minimum. it made mina wish her mother lowered her expectations or at least make her own higher.

she eats her food in a hurry, hoping to get out of this dinner as soon as possible. of course, her mother has an issue with it as she glared at her from across the table. “slow down. you look like an animal eating like that.”

mina ignores her and she manages to empty her bowl, still trying to bite and swallow the leftover food in her mouth. she quickly stands up from her chair, puts her bowl and utensils in the sink, and runs upstairs, swallowing the last bit of her food down. she closes her door behind her even if she knows her mother was going to go up to her room anyways. when she hears the door open, she rolls her eyes before she turns to her mom.

“can you knock?” the impatient tone was one she’s used frequently enough. whether or not she was proud of it, she kept that information to herself.

her mother’s not afraid of it, though. in fact, if anything, she’s probably a professional at dealing with it. “you’re one to talk about manners,” she scolds. “what is with you?! at least try to stay for the entire dinner and not make it seem like you don’t like my company.”

“why would i do that?” mina scoffs. “you’d yell at me for faking it, anyway.”

her mom sighs. “why are you so selfish? why do you keep on doing this? do you understand how uncomfortable your father feels whenever we fight? how uncomfortable i feel?!”

“i’m sorry for being upset over you not being a good mom,” she responds, crossing her arms as if to do the bare minimum of making fun of the woman in front of her who would do the same in their past arguments. “i got into a good school and all you can say is ‘i’m surprised they didn’t reject you straight up’? no ‘congratulations’ or ‘i’m happy you got into the school you wanted to get into’? shouldn’t you at least be glad over the fact that i’m going-”

her mother then points at mina and she has to hold the urge to not swat the hand away from her face. “look at you! you’re already making yourself sound bad by acting like it’s a miracle they accepted you in the first place!” she criticizes. “you’re supposed to go to school. you’re supposed to get a degree in order to get a good job somewhere. after all your father and i’ve done for you and your brothers, why are you the only one who treats this like it’s not a big deal?!”

“i am treating this like it’s a big deal!” mina asserts. “do you know how many nights i spent studying for tests that i knew i was going to fail? all the times i had to stay after school in order to make sure it wouldn’t affect my chances?! i worked so hard in the last few months to be accepted and i’m the only one in this room proud of myself for it! it’s like you’re actively trying to find reasons to be disappointed in me, even when i do something good!”

“maybe you should be trying to not constantly disappoint me, then.” her mother turns her back to her daughter and makes way for the door, but mina mutters something else that makes her stop in her steps.

“the one time i do something that i thought could impress you and you’re still disappointed in me.”

her mother doesn’t respond. all she does is stand for a moment before she leaves, not even bothering to close the door behind her.

I don’t speak Latin fluently but I know some odd words here and there! But the reason as to why I have included Latin names in IWSY is because of the lore I chose to make as the background of my story. I didn’t just want to use English because I believe that the story would have lost it’s depth and feel! :D

Things I’m Loving Friday #237

Friday is here and I’m tempted to dub today Furniture Assembly Friday because that’s the main thing I hope to accomplish later this evening. A bunch of our nursery purchases arrived on our doorstep yesterday so we’ve got some work cut out for us this weekend! I hope that by Sunday evening, our new baby’s room looks a little more like a nursery versus the storage area it currently resembles. I’m oddly excited about putting everything together and hope the feeling lasts and isn’t trumped by the frustration that often follows putting together drawer after drawer of a dresser. I’ll be sure to share pics of everything soon!

Now let’s get crackin’ on the usual Things I’m Loving Friday fun around here. Below you will find a list of things that are making me smile this week and, as always, I’d love to hear a little bit about what all of you are loving right now. I hope you are able to spend the extra long Memorial Day Weekend with family and friends and take time to honor and remember the incredibly brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Things I’m Loving Friday

Chase’s Last Day of Preschool

Chase’s last day of preschool was Wednesday this week. He had a half-day and then the parents joined the kids at one of his classmates’ houses for a pool party and lots of playtime. We ended up staying out for the better part of the afternoon and Chase had an absolute BLAST. (He had his first experience in a puddle jumper in the pool and I immediately Amazon Primed one the minute we got home.) His two preschool teachers attended the party and I looooved chatting with them and the other parents while our children had the best time together. It was so fun to see Chase interact with the kids I hear so much about day in and day out and I’m so happy that the majority of Chase’s classmates are continuing at his same school next year. I feel incredibly lucky to have found a preschool we adore so much and am trying not to feel too sad about my baby officially completing his first year of preschool. Time is flying!

Baby Sprinkle at Ryan’s Work

Early yesterday afternoon, Chase and I headed off to Ryan’s work for the sweetest baby sprinkle hosted by his coworkers for our family. It was so kind of everyone to think of us and our baby-on-the-way and include Chase in the party. (Chase LOVED going to Dad’s work! When Ryan met us in the lobby he didn’t miss a beat and said, “Hey Dad! Where are your friends? You have a computer?”)

When Ryan told me about his coworkers’ plans, we requested no gifts (the evite actually said “in lieu of gifts, bring treats” – haha!) but everyone was so generous and surprised us with a few things for our baby which was very thoughtful. I also really enjoyed the opportunity to meet some of the people on Ryan’s team. We laughed a lot about our desire to not know the sex of our baby (apparently this is a very uncommon thing among Ryan’s coworkers) and the general consensus among his colleagues is that we’ll be having a girl which was mostly attributed to how high I am carrying our baby. Surprise, surprise! I swear Chase and I are the only two thinking BOY these days.

Hydrangeas

(Apparently Chase’s hair reacts to humidity the same way as his mamas: A wavy fluffball! Haha!)

Shout out to the previous owners of our home for enjoying gardening and planting some lovely flowers all over our yard because it’s the gift that keeps on giving to our family! We have two gorgeous hydrangea bushes that are absolutely thriving right now and just looking out at the beautiful baby blue flowers makes me so happy. Chase and I have been snipping a few hydrangeas here and there to put in small vases around our house and I love the springy look of flowers from our yard in our home. I keep telling myself that I’ll get into gardening… eventually.

Sharing Calm

The last half of this week was a bit bananas, mainly because Chase didn’t nap at all and was clingier, fussier and all around needier than usual. Without his naps to count on, it was hard for me to find time to hit a few work-related deadlines with companies for future blog posts that took me away from my usual in-the-moment blogging. I feel incredibly lucky to be able to work from home but inevitably life gets in the way of work for me and I just have to roll with it even if it can make me feel a little more on edge. (And I currently have NO idea how all of this is going to look when I have two kiddos in the mix but I figured things out with one child so I’ll do it again. Bring on the wonderful chaos!)

Anyway, I share all of that because I found myself feeling more frustrated and impatient than usual this week and kept thinking about the above graphic a friend of mine shared on Facebook a month or so ago. It’s something I’ve found myself thinking about over and over again, especially when I’m in the thick of a toddler meltdown. Though I’ve never been a “yeller” by nature, I notice that Chase responds to me so much better when I take a deep breath and address him in a calm way versus when I allow myself to get frustrated and my voice admittedly gets tense and irritable. At almost three years old, his emotions are BIG and powerful and while it’s not always easy, responding to them calmly makes a huge difference and can help prevent the meltdown from escalating into a full-blown tantrum. Just remembering this simple quote has helped me a lot when I’ve found myself feeling snappy so I had to share it here just in case it is something that resonates with any of you out there, too!

Collapsible Stepping Stool

This handy stool probably should’ve made my list of my Most Used Kitchen Items when I shared that post back in February but it completely slipped my mind. Technically it isn’t something I exclusively use in the kitchen since I cart this bad boy around our house all the time to help me grab things from hard-to-reach high places. It was one of those random purchases I made at HomeGoods that I ended up using a million times more than I ever thought I would! I was the queen of hopping up on counters and unstable stools to grab items off top shelves and this little solution makes it waaay safer for me to reach top shelves. It’s collapsible so I just tuck it into a kitchen cabinet when I’m done. It also comes in handy as a little stepping stool for Chase, especially when he wants to help Mom with blog photos!

Episode Nine - “I’m An Indecisive Mess” - John

I really hope that this is the round that we get Julia out. There's one thing that I do not tolerate, and that's people who LIE ON ME. Julia was in on the Ned vote the entire time and wouldn't even own up to it after the vote until I confronted her on it. I went from trusting her the most to not trusting her at all. This round is crucial. From what I've gathered, the other side wants to take out Sam and I can't lose another ally. I need to keep numbers on my side so that I can gain back control in the game. Ryan wants Sam out because she got mad at him on call and apparently made a chat with him the first round of merge and then voted for him. Julia somehow knows that Sam and Autumn are voting for her (probably Ryan) so she wants them out too. It comes down to Dane and John. Dane told me straight up he didn't want to vote Sam out, so I think he's good. But John is being weird. He wants Julia out because I told him she called him shady a bunch of times but he's constantly worrying about what Ryan will think. STOP PLAYING RYAN'S GAME! I need John to side with us regardless if Ryan agrees or not to make this move.

I think im gonna go pray to the godess an calm down. I honestly feel like im being paranoid. I mean do I trust the 6 alliance anymore? No. Hell no. Do i trust some of them? Yes. Rebecka, haley, an ryan. Autumn has been asking who people are voting, so it makes me think sam may have the idol, or that sam dosen't and autumn just wants to ride majority. So im hoping this is the case. Still nervous but, ya know.

At this point in the merge nothing really exciting is going on anymore it's kinda easy sailing since I'm in majority and then have my own alliance within that one. Jake sam and autumn are just sitting ducks at this point and then the rest pluck one by one

So last vote was almost a success. I wanted to get to the end without a single vote cast against me, but what can you do when we have bitter betties? Okay so i have 10 minutes so my plan overall right now is to blindside Julia with Rebecka, but Ryan doesn't know that and he's supposed to be my f2 but he was fake to me before tribal council so I'm not trusting him atm. I'm going to pretend that Rebecka isn't flipping and I'm acting defeated that my plan isn't going to work out, but it will.

Okay so I haven't made a confessional since reward was posted. I was stressed about immunity bc I tied with jake and then I lost the tie breaker, which sucks. But I think I can work something out. I found another half idol so NOW I HAVE A FULL IDOL! I am playing it tonight. I don't know who is voting with me or against me, but I don't think I have the numbers and I am NOT going home with an idol. Ned did it and I would rather waste it than take it to jury. Me Jake Autumn and MAYBE Dane and MAYBE Rebecka are voting Julia, but I'm not confident enough to trust them. Everyone else is voting me so. Also, I need to stop crying about Ned and Bryan. Time to start playing the game. I am ready.

Okay tribal just happened. I'm sweating a lot. I wasted my idol basically. I did get votes, but only 4 of them. There were 4 for Julia and then I voted for Ryan. If I would have voted for Julia and not played my idol, I would still be here AND have an idol for the future. But since I switched my vote, it tied and then my idol made her go home. It's hard bc a part of me is pissed that I wasted it. But another part of me sees a light in the distance. Autumna and Jake are the only ones who know I voted Ryan. Not even Dane knows. Right now, Coffey and Ryan think it was Rebecka. This hopefully will cause them to trust her less. But Dane's crazy advantage may mess us up right here. There is no immunity. Dane can sit out of tribal tomorrow, be immune, and not cast a vote. Or he can come, vote and potentially be voted out. He told me that he is too busy and he is sitting out, which sucks. Now there will be 7 votes. And I know Haley, John and Ryan won't vote with me. My only hope is Rebecka. And either way, none of those 3 believe that she voted with them. Julia got 4 votes. The obvious solution would be me, jake, autumn, and dane. They would never assume I would throw away a vote to ryan, especially how low I am, numbers-wise. AND there was a voting confessional for Julia (I think Autumn wrote it) but it said "this is for imperium" and i have literally cried to ryan and john about how sad i was seeing ned then bryan go back to back. They most likely think that was me. I think this then created distrust among them and rebecka, so hopefully we can pull her to our side. I think the smartest vote this round will be Ryan. He has had it out for me for a while and he has the closest connections on the other side. Let's face it, he is holding the other side together. John and Haley are not close, but Ryan has been playing both of them against us. I'm stressed whew. I'm lowkey mad at Dane for skipping, but it makes sense for his game so I don't blame him. I just need to work on Rebecka right now.

Our parents Duncan, Mitch, and Amanda are probably so proud. Also I think Dane is done flopping and is back to being trustworthy?? But never say never Also John is going home tonight because he can't stop lying, constantly flip flops, doesn't have a backbone, has voted someone Imperium out the past 4 rounds, etc. It's funny cause I like John as a person hahaha; he's just doing too much and he needs the Boardroom's permission to do anything. The Boardroom would be John, Ryan, and Dane because anytime me, Jake, or Sam try to talk game to them, they say "ok I'll talk to the guys" and disappear for 4 hours. Hi VL!!! Sorry I didn't start talking to y'all until recently because I only recently learned that vl confessionals are a thing that I'm allowed to do lmao. Anyway you guys are in for a treat tonight- people swear they're going home even though they're not getting votes while others aren't even talking to me and I've already used majority to seal their fate. Tribal is happening soon. I'm very nervous. Me, Autumn and Jake originally had a plan to get Ryan out, but apparently he has an idol he wants to use tonight, so we had to switch our target. Hopefully he still plays it. We are voting John out, and Rebecka is telling us she is with us, so hopefully he goes 4-3. Dane isn't voting with us so we can't rely on him to save us this time. Haley came to me earlier and asked me for a name. It was really weird. I know she went to Autumn and Jake as well. I don't know if she truly is desperate in this game or she thinks she can actually get information out of us. We told her Ryan, and she says she will write down any name at this point to not go home. There are 2 scenarios that could happen from this. 1. Haley goes immediately to Ryan, he plays the idol on himself and it is wasted. or 2. She votes out Ryan because she is so desperate to not go home. Then we vote out John, and then Ryan is left and knows that Haley flipped on him. Having those two here and not trusting each other would be great. I feel like Ryan has such a handle on John and Haley and we really need to split him away from those two. It's scary to think about the future, because I don't know if I will be there. A part of me wants to start planning my FTC speech and my f3 (which would most likely be Jake and Autumn) but Haley told me a few hours ago that John and Ryan were voting for me this round too. They think it's safest because my idol is gone. Now I' m stuck with just 2 coins that I'm impatiently waiting to exchange them for something. I'm really annoyed at Ryan and John constantly going against me and my side. I understand why Ryan is, I flipped on him and voted him out when we technically did have an alliance together (even though my heart wasn't in it). I just don't understand why I can't get along with John in this game. I have done nothing wrong to him. All I have done is listen to him and be lied to ever since merge started. It sucks that he has been so against me, especially because I thought we were good friends outside of this game, but he wants nothing to do with me, and he wants me out of the game so badly. I'm definitely getting votes tonight. I just don't know how many. Me Autumn and Jake are voting for John. If Rebecka joins us, we have majority. I just worry about any idol plays. Also I don't think me voting Ryan was the worst move anymore. Haley today told me that she thinks Rebecka voted for him, and I knew Ryan and John already think that. Also, another thing, I'm nervous that I may have lost some trust with Autumn and Jake over having the idol. Because I told Jake in pms first and then hours later he was like maybe we should tell autumn and I'll pretend I don't know, and I was like that sounds great. So I told them. But Autumn was a little hesitant with me when I told her. I hope it was just shock and not betrayal she felt. I really need these two to make it in this game. I couldn't even imagine having to strategize with Haley or John.

Sooooooooo, I decided to make a move this round by pushing for Julia to go. I love Sam and Autumn but they want John out and are working with Rebecka to do it and I can't vote out John. I brought it up to John and Haley and then talked to Ryan and they seem down to do it. Rebecka seems to be extremely close to Dane, and Dane seems to have ties with just about everyone in this game...except me. I'm sorry but why should I vote out John who's always been honest with me and talks to me over Rebecka who hasn't bothered talking to me all game. I need to take some power away from Dane before he takes us all out.

Wow what a twist! Definitely didn't see Julia going home last night definitely miss her psycho ass. People are all on edge and think they are next to go and people don't know who has idols anymore in this game or who has half. I just hope we can keep the numbers and john, Ryan and myself will go to finals.

Lucky im in Love (Chapter 14)

P.o.v Rocky

"Ellington..." I whispered I can't believe that just happened. "Rocky? You didn't tell me Ellington is your boyfriend..." Laura said. I don't know what the fuck she was thinking when she did that but one thing I know for sure is that I want her our of my sight! Ellington looked at me with pain filled eyes and spoke. "Ex boyfriend" at first I literally couldn't think of what to say or do. I was just completely frozen. Once I snapped out of it I pushed Laura off of me. "I can not fucking believe you would do that! Even if I was straight and single! GET OUT! NOW!" right after I said that I remembered the reason I was yelling at her. With that I just Ran! I ran out of the house faster than I had ever run before. I went to the first place I thought he would have went.

P.o.v Ellington

After I broke up with Rocky I ran to the only place I could think to Run that even Rocky doesn't know about. There's this little abandoned park about a kilometer and a half or so behind my house which is where i always go when i feel that i need to be alone because that way i can get fresh air at the same time compared to at home. Thank god I'm decently fit because if i wasn't i wouldn't be able to Run From the Lynch's house to the abandoned park without stopping. Once i got there i dropped to the ground and cried my eye out.

"GET OUT NOW!" Rocky yelled as if he was ready to kill me. i have literally never seen him this angry and believe it or not i have actually seen him pretty angry before. After he said that to me he looked as if he remembered about something and then took off. to be completely honest i feel really really guilty for ruining their relation ship. i mean i have shipped them together for like forever. i guess he just kind of reminded me of Ross. I went back to the kitchen where everyone else was. "Rydel, can i talk to you for a sec?" i asked kind of awkwardly considering they would have seen Rocky running after Ellington. "yeah lets go to my room then so we can talk." Rydel said quietly and then we headed off to her room to talk. "so whats up?" she asked clearly not expecting me to say what I'm about to. "i kissed Rocky!"

p.o.v Rydel

"i kissed Rocky!" Laura said. Wait! Did I hear that right? "You what!" I exclaimed with a shocked tone. "Rocky and I were talking and he was being really sweet about everything and in that time he reminded me a lot of Ross and I wasn't thinking and-" I cut her off. "Its okay" I said trying to comfort my friend who is now so close to tears its ridiculous. "To be honest I feel so guilty for not telling you that they actually are... Well were together" I said feeling guilty. "Its okay, I shouldn't even have kissed him in the first place" she said. I have to admit, that is totally true. "Yeah that might not have been the greatest idea you have ever had, its not entirely your fault though, it was also just really bad timing" after I said that she smiled a bit. "So let's go explain this to the others shall we?" I said and with that we headed to the kitchen to explain everything to the others.

P.o.v Rocky

After a good while of frantically searching for my now ex boyfriend I decided to stop by his house to ask his parents if they knew where he would have gone. I didn't even bother stopping back home to get the keys to my car to drive there. Instead I just ran. I ran like my life depended on it, and really who knows, my life really could depend on it. Once I got to his house I didn't bother knocking, instead I just ran through the door basically having a panic attack. "Oh my goodness did you run all the way here?" His mother asked me sounding really worried. "Yeah and do you by any chance have a single clue where your son might be?" I asked his mother sounding both panicked and out of breath. "I saw him about ten minutes ago running through the back yard and over the back fence so if you want to find him you might want to get going." She said. "Thank you" I sad before I ran out the back door.

P.o.v Laura

Rydel and I made our way to the kitchen. "What the fuck happened?" Ross asked. "Ross! Watch your language!" Stormie interrupted. "It's sort of a long story..." I said awkwardly. "We have time" Ross said clearly pissed off. "Okay well, when Rocky and I were in his room talking he was being really sweet and he reminded me of you, and I got lost in my thoughts and the next thing you know I was kissing him and then Ellington walked in and I had no idea that they were together or that they were even gay for that matter and then Ellington ran away causing Rocky to yell at me and I didn't mean for any of this to happen" I said rambling and now I'm also in tears and Ross hugs me. "It's okay" his big strong arms around me comfortingly

P.o.v Ross

Laura began rambling with tears threatening to fall. I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her comfortingly. That was actually when I noticed that I felt different this time then any other time before when I would interact with Laura usually I feel completely normal like as if we were nothing more than just best friends, meaning after I met scarlet but now I have butterflies in my stomach and I swear if I talk I'm bound to get my words mixed up because of her and in general I think I made the wrong choice when I decided to ask scarlet to be my girlfriend. That's right you heard right! I have finally realized that Laura is the one for me and not scarlet. After Laura calmed down I told her I had to do something and that I would be back in an hour at most. Before I left Laura I walked over to Rydel and brought her into the other room for a second. "Can you do me a favour and make sure that Laura doesn't leave or anything because I need to talk alone with her when I get back. I whispered with a hopeful tone. "Where are you going?" She asked sounding confused. "I'm going to call scarlet and ask to meet up with her because I'm going to break up with her" I said continuing to whisper. "Okay but why? You two are cute together." She asked. "Because I'm an idiot and only just now realized that scarlet is not the one for me and Laura is." I said now sounding impatient because I just want to get this breakup done and over with. "Thankyou" I said as I left the room and grabbed my car keys. Once I got into my car i dialed Scarlet's number, I took a deep breath and his call.

P.o.v Ellington

I've been on the ground crying for what feels like hours when it's probably been not even one yet. All of a sudden I heard someone running towards me. I didn't even bother looking due to the off chance that It could be Rocky. Just the thought of him made me cry harder than I already had been which I didn't even think was possible even though it apparently was. I was interrupted by my thoughts by a deep yet incredibly familiar voice which was obviously Rocky. "ELLINGTON!!!!!" I heard him he'll and about five seconds later he was by my side. I would roll over to face him but I can't risk looking into his perfectly amazing eyes and giving in only to risk the chance of getting hurt again. "Ell, just look at me" he begged. I didn't respond to him in any way. "Please just look at me!" He said, this time a little louder and I heard his voice crack a bit. I feel bad but I can't let myself get sucked in again. I could hear that he's crying now. To tell the truth I really really want to believe that this was all just one huge misunderstanding but I just couldn't believe it. Eventually Rocky tried to pick me up and get me to look at him but I just couldn't let him. So I pushed him off of me, stood up without looking anywhere near him and ran. I ran back to my house, went into the bathroom found a razor and began to cut.

P.o.v Ryland

Today I have big plans that involve me buying a ring. No I'm not going to propose to Dove, yet... I decided that I would buy her a promise ring so that she does know that I do intend to marry her in the future. I asked Rydel if she would go with me and she said sure. I'm not quite sure what her and Riker were talking about before I left but it had something to do with keeping her company. With that Rydel and I headed on our way. Once we got there we started looking at a bunch of different rings. I was looking at some of a one side of the giant jewelry case and Rydel was looking over at the other side. All of a sudden she started squealing with excitement. "RYRY!!!!!! Come here I found the perfect ring!!!!!!!!!" As soon as she said that was when reality had just finally set in. Crap now I'm really nervous! I must have looked pretty nervous too because once Rydel noticed my facial expression she wrapped her arms around me in a comforting hug. "There's nothing to worry about! It's going to be completely fine! I know for a fact that she would never reject you! She loves you Ry! She really does. She literally tells me that just about every time her and I hang out just the two of us." After she said that last part I couldn't help but let a giant smile creep up on my face. "Now let me see the ring you found." I said now that I have my confidence back.

P.o.v Rocky

Clearly Ellington doesn't want to see me and it really hurts me that he wouldn't even look at me, let alone let me explain what actually happened between Laura and I. I literally can not stand her right now because if she had just talked to Rydel instead of me we wouldn't be in this fucking mess. Thank god I have siblings who are legal drinking age because I really need a drink right now. I know I don't usually drink but I really need it right now. I went to the beer fridge and grabbed a case of Riker's drinks. I went to my room , sat down, opened the case, grabbed a drink, opened it and chugged it back in frustration. God I can't wait Till I can legally drink because it will save me From having to get into everyone else's drinks. Once I finished that drink I grabbed another. This continued for a while until I was so drunk that I passed out.

P.o.v Rydel

Ryland and I were just finished getting the promise ring for dove so we were on our way home. Once we got home I went to check on Riker and Laura. They were just talking about whatever. "We're back" I yelled at them from across the room. Just then Ross came in. Well in that case I'm just gonna go. I walked over to Ryland and told him to just leave them be for a few minutes. "Let's go eaves drop from the other room." I whispered suggestively. "Okay!" He agreed.

P.o.v Ellington

I cut my arm over and over again until the feeling in it was nearly gone. After I did that I cleaned the razor blade and put it away. After that I went to bed and cried for hours until I fell asleep and even then I cried in my sleep. I miss having Rocky by my side but I can't let him know that because that's a sign of weakness and I need to prove that I am strong and independent.

P.o.v Dove

I got a text from Ryland telling me to meet him in his back yard. With that I got my mom to drop me off at his house. I went into his back yard. When I got there he was standing in the middle of a heart made of red rose petals and he had something in his hands. "What's all this about babe?" I asked him curiously. "Well I know we haven't been together long but there is something about the way that you make me feel that I not even Savannah made me feel even when I was with her. The point is, I'm in love with you and I wanted to give you this and tell you that I do in fact intend on marrying you one day no matter when that day may be." With that he opened the little box in his hand and there was the most beautiful ring in it. It was a simple silver band that had the word promise engraved into it and the dot over the I was a small diamond. With that he slipped the ring onto my finger and then we kissed.

P.o.v Laura

Riker and I were talking. I was still kind of near tears. And then all of a sudden Ross came through the door. "Hey Laura, can I talk to you for a second?" With that Riker left the room. "What do you want to talk about?" I asked trying to sound happy. "I need to ask you something." He asked and I nodded for him to continue. "I know that you're one a bit of an emotional roller coaster at the moment after what has happened today but today I noticed something. I noticed that I haven't exactly been anywhere near as happy with scarlet as I could be with someone else so would you do me the honour of being my girlfriend?" I went completely speechless. I have no idea what to say. "Wait aren't you still with scarlet though?" I asked now slightly confused. "Well... The reason I left for about an hour while you were talking with Riker, I kind of went to break up with her." He said awkwardly which sounded adorable. "But why did you break up with her for me though?" I asked still trying to wrap my head around the idea of my long time crush feeling the same way. "Like I already said, scarlet doesn't make me nearly as happy as I could be with someone else, and that someone else is you." After he said that a huge smile krept up on my face. "Of course I'll be your girlfriend" I said happily and with that i finally got to do what I had been longing to do for as long as I can remember. I kissed him.
