LETTER'S TO MY LOVELY

Chp Summary ~ From the moment Shin met her, he knew he had a developing issue. Her brown skin would bruise a pretty purple under his lips if he had it his way.

Chp 2 ~ Ironic is the Sweet Symphony

It was too bad that Shinichi thought the same thing about her; a performer is what he truly was.

A poison apple in his own eyes. A wolf in sheep's clothing.

Penelope was sweet with her doe eyes and gummy smile.

Instead of preserving the sweetness of her syrupy eyes and sugary smile, he wanted to devour all the sweetness she would give him.

Innocence of his own to take, and taste.

A sweetness for him to have a hold on, and because people were cruel, Shin knew that best of course.

The Innocence of children is stolen by vultures who feast on their sugary trail of soft smiles and kind eyes; just like hers.

Shin thought of innocence of his own that was taken and abused.

Penelope was reserved, a naive girl who was hesitant with her every move and self conscious more than the average woman.

A girl is what she was.

Truly Shin was no man, but he smelled the sweetness that poured from the girl's thick lips even before he stepped foot on the train.

In that moment he shook her supple hands, and caught sight of that childish sparkly nail polish that chipped from her stubs for nails; he knew he'd never let anyone taste her sweetness if he had her. No one would abuse her as long as he kept her near him, nobody could as long as he could conceal the smell of her honey with his own.

She'd be ruined in Chofu, the naive foreigner she was.

Shin quickly decided as he scooted himself closer to her, that he would never talk to her again if he could.

Shin was good at acknowledging his own faults, and others too. He strived to improve himself as the best he could while bleeding with the abuse other ignorant adults inflicted on him.

He had a sweetness that invited abuse of all kinds with a soft smile and compliant body.

“So, how do you know English? Your accent is different from mine as well. Did you grow up here or somewhere else - wait! Is that an ignorant question to ask? I'm sorry,” Penelope's voice seemed naturally hushed, the sweet melody of her voice chiming through the stuffy metro air. The American girl fiddled with the cuticle of her index finger, picking at the skin.

Shin decided to spare her from her endless overthinking, her awkwardness was almost kind as she attempted small talk.

“I'm Swedish and Japanese. I attended a school in Britain for a bit so my English has a Swedish-British accent.” Not wanting to reveal more than that, Shin took control of steering the conversation to speak more about her. He was always assertive when he spoke, it was the way he was taught in formality and etiquette lessons.

Looking down at the map in her hand, Shinichi thought he'd ask, “Where are you heading this late, dear Penelope?” He teased with a sly smirk.

The map appeared to be marked up in a hot pink pen with side notes at the left white margin. She took a glance down at the map and gasped softly as if she forgot that it was in the hand she was picking at.

“Oh! I'm uh, I'm a transfer student at um - The new academy in Shinjuku. Star Academy of Fine Arts. I start next - ” She pauses her sentence and avoids eye contact nervously as she thinks of when she starts school. Shin smiles at the immature quirk.

The girl looks back into his eyes with a glint that says she remembers the date, “April, twenty-eighth! With my course undecided,”

Her big eyes widen a touch, the overhead light glinting in her brown irises as she realizes she's overshared a touch, and not actually answered the boy's question.

“I'm staying at a hotel for now,” Penelope nodded proud of herself for telling Shin, a practical stranger, where she would reside for a school year.

She shouldn't share that much. Even the tiniest scrap of information some creep will take advantage of and try to find her.

Just like Ryoko did with him.

“Ryoko's not a creep,” He reminds himself despite being consciously aware, she's using him in every way she can.

Shin hummed at the information with a small smile, and was going to ask another leading question when she surprised him and asked him one first.

“Where do you go to school?” Shin grimaced at the question and chuckled trying to think of an answer.

The brown-haired boy was always a good liar, ever since he was a child - he is a child -

Shin shakes his head a bit, bangs falling in his eyes with his faux laughter at the fleeting thought.

He couldn't tell the smaller how he'd cut class and ran away from home. How he didn't know what to do with himself now that he was practically free.

Minus the chain he'd wrapped around his neck and handed the long end to Ryoko, who he was staying with.

As long as he laid underneath her every night with fake starry eyes, and moaned softly into the early hours of morning; he was well taken care of.

“Seikou Academy for Boys is where I'm headed, in Shinjuku,” Shin partially lied to the girl.

He was headed there as punishment for his behavior with his stepfather; the wretched man itching to be rid of the insect that invaded his home.

Penelope nodded ignorantly and gave a small grin, not knowing what the elite school was. Everyone who heard about Seiko Academy knew that it was filled to the brim with snobbish boys who would live, and die, off of Daddy's money.

The Okazaki family was known for their capitalism and cash.

They owned most of Europe and Asia, old money that owned the land before industrialism took off. Seiko Academy was a small island for rich boys owned by Okazaki Institutions.

Shinichi left the first chance he could when his Father mentioned it, and he hadn't looked back since.

“Oh cool!” She said enthusiastically, scooting into his dampness, the girl grew a bit braver to continue.

“I like your earrings, where are they from?” She said looking at the silver adorning his ears.

Shin smirked knowingly to himself, “They're Vivienne Westwood, a big brand in England! It's even bigger in the punk scene,” His boyish grin stretched wider as the girl's eyes scrunched slightly in curiosity.

“The punk scene?” She raised a brow, turning to face him with a slight tilt of her head.

Shin swallowed the saliva that pooled in his mouth, along with the attraction he felt to her natural girlishness.

It wasn't like the forced one that Ryoko put on.

God, how he'd fucking ruin her if he had her.

His fingers twitched in want, he used them to twirl a curl of her hair around his finger. He figured she wouldn't mind, she was too open with his inviting affections.

“Yeah, punk rock! I love playing the bass,” He did love the bass. The comfort of the sound ricocheting off his blue bedroom walls, the weight of his bass in his hand, the custom blue strap around his shoulder.

Shin loved the bass more than any of the hoard of instruments that his father forced him to learn, much to the older man's dismay.

“The bass! You want to be a bassist?” Shin took a second to think about it, a small scrunch forming between his brows.

The girl's curls were soft, unlike Ryokos which had a rougher texture and crunch from the mouse she used to scrunch her hair.

Her hair was stiff with product that stunk of sour chemicals as she attempted to volumize what slight wave she had naturally into looking like crimped curls.

The girl's hair was the total opposite.

Penelope's was soft in touch, natural and springy. She had a girlish scent with the sweet smell of candy and floral haircare.

Jackpot.

He bit the inside fat of his mouth, releasing it, and smiled.

Besides being a prostitute to women and men, what would he do? Would he sell himself for the rest of his life? It's not like sex work was a particularly bad job. The boy shrugged, not entirely sure.

“I dunno what I want to do. But being a bassist would be cool!” He says gnawing on the flesh of the corner on his lip.

The boy played with the buckle of the belt he held after he let go of the spring of long black hair. The belt was the only item he refused to leave with his woman of the night along with his earrings.

Sometimes his clients had a particularly sick quirk where they wanted to parent him. Especially when he was even younger than their kids.

It was like the guilt they had chewed at their flesh and blended over into their kinks. They'd dress him in casual attire that was two sizes too big for his slender body, and showed off his prominent collarbones where lovebites bruised over.

It was like they were displaying that he was a plaything even if he wasn't with his clients outside.

Taking in the dark gold brown of the girl's skin, he thought she would look ravishing with a reddish-purple scabbing around her neck -

“You totally don't seem like a punk rocker, but I think if you wanna be a bassist you should go for it if you have the opportunity.” She remarked with a soft encouraging smile.

Shin took a deep breath and looked up back at her warm eyes. She was so oblivious from when he looked down her neck and chest.

“Yes,” He internally decided. A reddish purple, mulberry, color would blossom from the blood vessels being abused underneath her soft umber skin.

He would treasure her every day and night.

Those glossy lips stretched beautifully to show the pinkish brown of her gums.

Those glossy lips stretched gorgeously around his - Shin shuttered a breath.

Shin had met a plethora of naive people, but her sheer cluelessness from being both a foreigner in Japan and so defenseless as a childish girl.

It was like looking into a mirror image of his past self.

Shin kept eye contact with the girl who darted her vision on different objects on the metro nervously.

Shin huffed a laugh, “You think so, Penelope?” Shin loved the way her name rolled off his tongue, his Swedish accent heavy when pronouncing all the syllables.

The girl looked into his hazel coffee orbs with her syrupy maple ones. Her eyes were so wide and glossy that Shin thought they must have been doll eyes. Thick dark lashes lined her eyes, the feminine feature standing out starkly even without makeup.

She nodded her head and tilted it again to the left side instead of the right.

“Absolutely! I mean - Possibilities are the endless opening for more opportunities. If you're good at playing then why not try to be a bassist, right?” She remarked wisely, as if that sentence had been constantly repeated in her mind.

Shin hummed and looked down at his designer belt. The Vivienne Westwood sovereign orb was in the middle and the belt itself was long so it hung down past his thigh.

What if he joined a band? Shin was confident in his abilities, being not only professionally trained but passionate. He could do something else with his life other than have sex for money, he would.

Shin had plenty of opportunities for prostitution, but none for music.

Maybe he was born for other people to find pleasure in his body, and him to find solace in their company.

“Silver looks quite nice on your skin tone,” The girl quipped nervously, chewing on the middle of her lip as she worked herself up to continue the dwindling conversation.

Shin cut his eyes back over to her doll-like ones.

She was just a girl, slowly grasping the reigns of young adulthood. She was what Shin should be like instead of a grown-up in a boy's body.

While he was a man playing coy, trying to still be a boy for money; she was a girl going through life the way a normal teen should.

Shin had been deprived of childhood even when he was wealthy. He bit the hand that fed him because he was sick of bad parenting.

He was sick of hateful eyes that looked at him like he was the scum of the Earth.

While the true scum of the Earth gazed upon him like he was crafted with rare diamonds and gold.

It was ironic how difficult life was. It was ironic how the childish girl's words stuck with him.

He mulled over the motivational line he wouldn't have expected from the bumbling girl.

“Thank you, Penelope,” Shin started, his tongue heavy in his mouth. The train started to slow and Shin rose from his seat, taking the brown girl up with him by her hand.

The metro squealed to a stop, and the double sliding doors opened with a pop and squeaking noise of plastic against metal.

With a kiss on the back of her hand, Shin smiled genuinely and wrapped her fingers around his belt.

Years later, Shin still questioned himself on why he gave a random girl the belt his clients typically used on him.

His eyes scrunched closed as he stepped outside of the metro doors. He gave the sweet girl one last look before ripping his hungry eyes away from her.

“Thanks for everything, Penelope,” He said before turning to walk down the station, blending in with the hoard of people coming in and out of the trains.

If he even stayed another second trapped inside that boxcar with her, he was sure he would taint what was left of the innocents ebbing off of her.

The next month, Shin was walking around Chofu with his bass inside his gig bag strapped to his back as he bought a new belt.

It was ironic how Shin found a band poster outside an antique shop called Sabrina looking for a bassist.

Shin entered the shop with a boyish grin spread across his face looking for a woman named Nana Komatsu. The woman was like an overgrown child, a puppy who squealed and squeaked with delight over the smallest of actions is what he learned as they typed up a resume using her boss’s computer.

“Possibilities are the endless opening for more opportunities,” Penelope whispered sweetly like a guiding symphony in his head.

It was ironic how ironic life was; Shin would take this opportunity and run with it for now.

I was so happy when you told me that night that my words actually helped you follow through with joining Blast. That my random motto is what you heard as you performed for Nana.

You never ruined me, Shinichi, you never would, you never could, and now, you never will.

dbh 4. Grow a Connor! It's a silly au that's been sitting in my wip folder for way too long honestly. Something about Kamski creating these mystery potted plants that could grow into a friend. And Hank was strong armed into buying one (Kamski's a terrific salesman)

After a week of diligently watering the pot (thanks to Sumo reminding him sometimes) with the mysterious blue liquid, he got a Connor RK800. And then they were friends.

Leon, I have been seeing your posts for the past, like, week, and I just cannot piece together what donbros actually is. The plot, the setting, the characters, the story. Please, enlighten me. And feel free to include as much detail and personal opinion as you want

See thats the thing!!! The plot is ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!

Avataro Sentai Donbrothers breaks a Lot of regular sentai rules. Usually sentai shows have a pretty clear plotline and enemies and goals to achieve and are more kinda Drama focused. Donbrothers is instead a slice of life/sitcom style sentai, so while it Has a plot, it's a lot more lose and it plays fast with it. It has the pacing of like either one really slow episode or 5 episodes in one and you never know what it's going to be like episode to episode. It's literally been described as the "It's Always Sunny" of Sentai and that really is the best way to describe it.

But if you would like to know the actual plot is up to what I know of it (I'm on episode 33 of 50 atm) then I'd be more than happy to explain

I'm putting this under a read more it got Very long, buckle up :)

The basics is that you're following the story of Taro Momoi, one of the last surviving members of the Don Clan. He and the rest of the Donbrothers (who I'll get to) are at odds with the Noto, the members of a realm called Ideon. The Noto are...well! Tbh I'm not entirely sure right now, this show deals out its lore in bits and pieces, but they're a race of higher beings basically who live separate from humans and without the imperfections of humanity, mainly the imperfection of Desire. It's something that they actively shun.

The reason that they shun it is that the Noto need humanity's brainwaves to survive, it's what sustains Ideon basically, and when humans become too full of their desires, they can turn into Hitotsuki. The Hitotsuki are monsters of pure desire, and their very existance disrupts the peace of Ideon and those human brainwaves that they need, so they go out of their way to destroy them.

The problem is that the way the Noto destroy Hitotsuki also destroys the human that they originally were, essentially killing them by locking their soul away in an alternate dimension.

This is where the Donbrothers come in. Their whole purpose is to fight the Hitotsuki with their method that eventually turns them Back into humans and lets them retain their life, and usually solves whatever problem corrupted them in the first place. So they're fundamentally at odds with the Noto and their way of doing things because they don't want to kill people in the process of getting rid of Hitotsuki.

And SPEAKING OF THE DONBROTHERS

This team. This team that fights monsters. Is made up of the weirdest lineup ever and I love all of them so much, they're such a weird family and they actively all think that they're the most normal person in the room at any given time while not realizing they're just as weird as the others.

From left to right here in this pic, we have:

Shinichi Saruhara - Guy who is 21 and lives the wabi sabi lifestyle. He's never had a job, presumably doesn't pay taxes, and is actively allergic to money and can't touch it or it'll burn him. He speaks in haikus half the time and has earned the nickname of Professor without having any schooling. He's the blue sentai ranger, Sarubrother.

Tsuyoshi Kijino - 33 year old office worker who is a complete wife guy, like obsessed with his wife to an insane degree. He's pathetic, this site would babygirl him so much if this show was bigger on here. He's also canonically let a guy be murdered by the Noto for fucking with his wife and has turned into a Hitotsuki TWICE because of his desire to see his wife being so huge. He's the pink ranger, Kijibrother.

Taro Momoi - Leader of the Donbrothers as the red ranger Don Momotaro. Taro is 21, he's a deliveryman who delivers good fortune/good deeds as well as packages, and he's literally so perfect at everything that he does that he had an entire village protest against him when he was a child and leave him and his dad to live there alone. Being perfect at things makes him a bit rude at times. He literally cannot lie or it will kill him and I mean that 100% seriously it's happened multiple times in canon.

Haruka Kito - Haruka is a manga artist who after her first big break into the manga world had her entire life fall apart after being falsely accused of plagiarizing her work. She views everything in life as a chance to get manga inspiration and this has led to her letting herself be held hostage for a chance at getting life experience. She's incredibly angry and violent at times and is usually the viewpoint character for most of the series. She's the yellow ranger, Oni Sister.

Tsubasa Inuzuka - Tsubasa, similar to Haruka, has been falsely accused of committing some sort of crime and is actively a fugitive of the law because of it. Everything he does is with the motivation to hopefully see his fiance Natsumi again who he lost a year ago. Incidentally, Natsumi looks Exactly like Tsuyoshi's wife Miho, and so there's a lot of fuckshit going on there. Tsubasa is also canonically a dogboy and cannot get rid of this image for himself. He's the black ranger, Inubrother.

There's also another member who comes in later down the line named Jirou Momotani who is meant to be Taro's successor, but he's his own can of worms while also being my fuckin son. Jirou is both the gold and silver rangers Don Doragoku and Don Torabolt respectively.

And I can't introduce the Donbrothers without introducing their Noto trio counterparts now can I?

From left to right we have:

Sonoza - Sonoza is obsessed with wanting to understand human emotions and why things make them feel the ways they do. This leads to him going up to people and asking them if he's laughing or crying correctly, and then eventually after picking up a copy of Haruka's manga and feeling the full range of emotions from reading it himself, becoming her editor to oversee her making a sequel that makes him feel just as excited as her first manga did.

Sonoi - He's not really the leader of the trio seeing as they're all equals in combat, but the other two do seem to kinda follow his lead a lot of the time. Sonoi is fascinated with human art, thinking that it's existance is the way that humans express their inperfections, and it frusterates him that he hasn't figured out how to make his own art due to this separation from humans. Sonoi becomes fascinated with Taro when they first cross paths before finding out each others true identity, thinking that Taro is someone the world needs more of due to his honest nature and the way he leads his life trying to help others. This fascination still continues even after finding out that they're fated to be rivals, and I mean this 100% seriously when I say that the affections they both share for each other isn't even subtext, it's just plain text (they literally have the first red ranger and villain duet song in the history of the entire franchise), and it ends up changing the course of the entire narrative for both Sonoi and Taro and the rest of their teams. It's insane how much those two matter to each other and what impact that has on the story.

Sononi - Sononi finds herself interested in love itself, the concept of it and how it makes people feel and why it motivates them to do what they do in the name of it. She gets particularly interested in Tsubasa's whole affair and likes to watch both from afar and not so far what's happening with that soap opera level drama. She has the coolest weapon of the entire show, that being a bow that can turn into duel wielded daggers or a bigger blade by itself.

The Noto trio are very interesting because despite seemingly shunning humanity and it's desires, they each find themselves utterly fascinated with a member of the Donbrothers and an aspect of humanity that ultimately sets them apart from the rest of their people and it leads to some very interesting story moments. I love them all so so so much.

But yeah! That's the Basics of Donbrothers as I know it right now. There's other plotlines going on as well but seeing as I only have pieces for them yet I can't really explain them here. Hopefully you can understand my crazed posting a little bit more after all of this though :)

Vampire!Shinichi. Working title: Different Means. This fic would also feature magicalblood!Kaito (he’s basically vampire catnip in this scenario, let’s be real) and would be rated E for sexy times as well as for violence. (Whump? You better believe it.) The idea belongs to @kiwi-tries-to-write and their friend, but I got real obsessed with it and they said it would be okay if I wrote my take on it : ) This would be a little bit of a longer fic – chapters instead of a one-shot.

Gay drama! Working title: runner. Kaito’s deeply closeted and dealing with some internalized homophobia and it’s ruining his and Shinichi’s relationship. Can love conquer all? Well this one’s got a happy ending, so yeah, I guess it can lol It will be rated either E or M for sexy times – not sure yet. I’m guessing this will be a one-shot.

Porn! Working title: It Was Only Just a Dream. Starts out with Shinichi having a sexy dream and Kaito doing a bit of voyeurism. Ends with actual sexy times~ Rated E. No plot. One-shot.

Other porn! Working title: Rival Fantasy. Involving blindfolded Shinichi, a bit of bondage, and a bit of roleplay as sort of pre-relationship thief and detective (instead of the practically married couple they already are in this fic). Rated E. No plot. One-shot.

Detective Conan Movie Cut Scenes: Private Eyes’ Requiem. Has it been two and a half years since I posted one of these? Yes. But that doesn’t mean I’m not still working on it. But now you have the power to say, “No more waiting! Give us Kaito’s perspective on the hostages in a theme park and detectives wearing bombs movie!”

Blackout: the sequel to Tales of Travel in the Fall into Flying universe! I’ve been working on Blackout for probably three years now, and I’m still only halfway through the eighth chapter. The pandemic messed me up for a while, but if the people decree, I will get my butt back on track and focus in on this mighty beast of a story!

Some general notes:

what did you think of everyone's little epilogue in donbrothers?

haruka & sonoza: so cute, love this for them, though i feel like haruka has become wayy too "normie" in this finale...? i want her to still be slightly weird even if she's successful. maybe we can revert her a bit in the crossover movie.

shinichi: still jus monkeyin around 🐵✌️

tsubasa & sononi: i was rooting for them this whole time so i'm a fan of it generally speaking. she looked so happy running from the cops w him! but i do keep wondering what their actual one on one interactions are like now that they're "together" in some capacity... assumedly they can't have conversations about the nature of his love for another woman anymore, so what DO they talk about? a small scene like that would've improved things a lot i think.

tsuyoshi & natsumi: this... was an entertainingly wild route to go, but. um. hm. not a huge supporter of this one? i feel like, even if it was nontraditional everyone else in the donbros did improve on their issues somewhat by the end. and tsuyoshi's issue (or, the main one) was low self esteem making him crazily obsessive about his romantic partner. and then you just "give" a version of her back to him at the end after it seemed like he was JUST about to put some distance between the whole thing & reevaluate? it's not great, to me.

the nonconclusive possibility of them maybe getting together in the future would've been a lot better. or if tsuyoshi had learned of the "other" natsumi that we saw when ms crane hung out with haruka, and had accepted that part of her, too. that would've shown growth in him to realize his partner isn't the world's most perfect angel that has to constantly be put on a pedestal. but as is it's kind of weird imo. but it wouldn't be an inoue show without questionable romance! so what am i even saying, right?

about Themes and character development

> what's shinichi kudo as an established private detective like?

extrapolating from his upbringing (rich parents) but without ran's influence (emotional anchor), i think he'd be an absolute ass (more than canon shinichi). since his parents are... Like That, he definitely has some emotional neglect and this autistic boy definitely has a special interest in detective stories and detecting as a whole. canon shinichi has a great sense of justice but i think this one is a bit too stunted emotionally for it, he's mostly in it for the puzzles, the challenge. he still has empathy but he has a tendency to forget there's real people behind cases often. he takes cases that scratch his curious itch, and he's very good at his job. his canon occasional sense of self-importance becomes a real arrogance in his own skills.

I'm setting this up cause i want his poisoning to be a result of hubris, too self-confident rather than nosy. and while before people were lapping all his words, now as a kid noone pays attention to him. he has to learn humility and accept that 1/other people have valuable skills, and 2/ he can rely on other people when needed

even removing her romantic role, i like her being an emotional anchor. she's the bridge between shinichi and kogoro. both because she's the one who brings conan to mouri, but also as a point of focus for both of them. mouri's not dad of the year but he deeply cares for his daughter and will jump into danger for her. shinichi as mentioned before has a deep emotional need, and she's the one who found him as a kid and was kind to him, so he latched onto her that way. the point is to redirect some of that attention to the other one (kogoro caring for shinichi/conan and shinichi getting attached to/relying on kogoro)

aside from this, i dont have much to say, she's great as she is

i said before that i wanted him and shinichi to complement one another, and building off canon, hes extremely emotionally expressive and receptive. he slips up when he's excited, but he knows when to shut his mouth and has better "bedside manners" than shinichi when it comes to clients. he's less of a creep/pervert because it sucks, but he's still like, flirty in appropriate ways and situations (maybe he dates around?) (also bi4bi af) (i do like that in canon ran dislikes him being interested in other women because she wants her parents to get back together so i can keep that, that adds realistic flaws for a teenager to hold onto hopes like that) OF COURSE because its me id love to add just a smidge of unhealthy obsession with shinichi because kogoro has a mad crush on him but is in denial about it

he's a little less observant (except for people's emotions) than shinichi, and has way less academic knowledge and analytical mind. but he's more tuned in on current events and pop culture, i like to imagine the sort of details thats like the missing puzzle piece for shinichi to figure it all out. his people skills means he also often intuits the correct answer for a case but has no way to prove or even explain what happened, but he can feel who did it or why someone did it.

i like to imagine that working together makes them solve cases faster but also helps avoid some tragedies ; shinichi sometimes solve cases a bit too late after crime has been commited, but with the two of them they often manage to stop the crime before it happens

A random headcanon: ok, this one is actually random and stupid, it started as a dumb joke, but I just love the stupid idea of Vermouth being his mum, it makes all their interactions so much funnier (and we actually did that in the actors AU)

General Opinion over said character: unlike a lot of people in western fandom (at least that's how it feels) I really like him. He's fun as a character, with how morally grey he is, with his stupid obsession with Akai, his Mary Sue character (No offence, but is there anything that he CAN'T do? I mean, except keeping a straight face in front of Akai? Because I don't think so), his ridiculously cute dog (Haro = best boy), and I seriously hope that he will survive this show.

I saw Ace attorney trending and I knew that I had to do something for this. Sooo.... here's a interesting question: what would the Lupin and Conan gang opinion on the whole Christmas thing? Which ones would agree with Phoenix? Which ones wouldn't? And would there be some people who are in the middle/ have a completely different opinion? What a complex subject 🤔

OH HEY, been a while. Yeah, I totally blanked on how close to christmas it was and remembering the last non dlc case for the first game lol. It's been a hot minute since I've seen Case Closed so I do no recall the earlier seasons or if there are any films I had watched that touched up on the christmas subject tbh. I could see Ran/Rachel celebrating it, unsure on Shinichi himself, since those two like FINALLY hooked up, and since christmas is seen in Japan as a couple's holiday as well, I can see if he can manage being unshrunk for a day that the pair would spend it together just because. Actually didn't he make a love confession in the anime and manga in the snow. I forget. I am like SURE the anime has touched up on the holidays at least a few times, I just never got to see it. Kogoro/Richard I see probably going either or, either being BLEH about the holidays cause he's Very Divorced or being in a drunken haze of enjoying himself.

Phoenix, oh I think he would get into the holiday for Maya and Pearl. Seeing how much he fell into a big brother esque role for the both and especially loves looking over Pearl with how much he goes out of his way to do stuff for her, he would want her to celebrate her first christmas outside of the secluded Fey family village. Sometimes he probably would remember that awkward ass case with Edgeworth and how he got tased trying to clear his name, but I think he would be okay with celebrating it.

Gumshoe would 100% get a gift for Edgeworth he begrudgingly accepts while telling him this better not be a bribe or something lol. I think despite how much of a dick Edgeworth can be he would appreciate it. Phoenix and Miles would also get each other gifts, Maya finds a silver samurai figure or keycharm and pushes it in Phoenix's face to gift him as a fellow fan. Miles might get Phoenix a more practical gift. (Franziska gets a gift from Miles but she doesn't get a gift for him probably LOL)

Lupin gang, oh Lupin would be all about Christmas. That man's love language is gift giving, he would be SPOILING the others. Fujiko would be all about Christmas too, my greedy queen would be like HAHA YES give me everything. <3 I think Goemon would be neutral about it and would typically just go train during the holidays but I also think he would quietly enjoy just being with the others around that time. Jigen I'm unsure, I mean I'm thinking back to that part 2 episode where they accidentally stole children's toys too now lol.

I could see Jigen enjoying it if he's spending it with Lupin.

Zenigata treats it like any other day even tho one of his two semi-canon birthdays is on Christmas. I'm guessing partially due to being a workaholic, another part of his just plain obsession has made it hard for him to really enjoy himself in others company since he has a hard time holding outside relationships cause of his own fault. I like to think Lupin starts leaving him gifts over the years, but gifts he knows Zenigata wouldn't reject or put into evidence cause his first thought is this is stolen. Zenigata's big emotional heart is touched by it for sure.

I was just wondering if you wanted to talk about your DCMK journey; how you got into the series, what drew you in, least favourite/favourite arcs or characters, that sort of thing! oh man what drew me in and stuff let me tell you-

well it was very much my friend hehe they showed me some of the movies with kaito kid, and then it escalated into "ah alright we can watch the anime" with skipping most filler (but before that they were trying to get me to watch it for like two years lol) I absolutely adore most of early conan, the artstyle is so silly and neat and conan is a lil critter. Watching everyone getting used to this little menace butting into the crime scenes was also amazing. Episodes with Ran being suspicious of Conan were also amongst my favorites In later episodes/chapters I mostly look forward to main plot stuff, especially black org (please someone end this series its older than me lkdnvdrg), and the style and animation dont really catch my attention much, especially cases that arent main plot related. The side characters just dont feel as fun and interesting anymore.

my favorite parts of the whole series are probably like, clash of red and black, reunion with black organization, most kaito cases (especially early ones), when we first saw haibara, takagi and sato storyline, halloween case (on the boat), gin almost finding conan in a locker, and first chapter of manga specifically because how goofy gin and vodka look in some of the panels

my early fav characters were conan/shinichi, kaito, sato and takagi, kogoro and james black for like no reason idk hes just silly to me

around the middle it was more shuichi/subaru. I loved the whole timeline with him and him living next to agasa sdkjfdnrg. I do still like him quite a bit gin and vodka became my favorite characters after train case with haibara and stuff, i have no idea why it literally just clicked in my brain like "you are obsessed with them now have a good day" lol my least favorite characters are yamamura and momiji <3

also movies i like are 3, 5, 6 is fun too, 8, 13 (black org <3), 14, 20, and 23-25 are neat thats mostly it, sorry for the long ass ramble hehe ^^; its a lot of stuff for a series i refused to check out for two years dkfjvnd I would love to hear some of your favorites too next time you write if youd wanna talk about em :]

Okay I'm gonna go with Kaishinshi for this one, since they're the one I'm currently obsessed with 😆

6. What’s your favorite pre-relationship moment between them (and why)?

One thing I like the most about these three is that Kaito and Shiho will absolutely gang up on Shinichi. Both Shinshi and Kaishin canon dynamic are just like, Kaito and Shiho doing things that absolutely drive Shinichi up the wallーKaito with his general KID antics and Shiho with her grime approach to things. The thing about Shinichi is that he's always shown to have a tight grasp of situation and he always end up winning at the end of the day, that's why I love when there are people who're able to threw him off the loop ahahah. So yeah, my favorite moment of each of them is just every instance of them annoying Shinichi 🤣

8. What’s your favorite episode that’s centered around your favorite ship?

Hmmmhhhh there's unfortunately no episode centered on them, we literally only have one episode of them sharing a screentime (that treasure hunt on the old house, at the end when they're all on top of the roof), but it does give us a bit of a glimpse of Kaito and Shiho dynamic so I guess I'll take that hhghzgshhs

11. Share something you’d like to see happen to your ship in a future episode.

Honestly? I just want to see Shiho and Kaito interact for more than 5 seconds. I mean, it's definitely a natural progression after KID go out of his way helping them with that whole BO fiasco on the mystery train! Shiho would want to at least make sure she didn't end up dragging an 'innocent' person into their conflict with BO. I'd say that's enough motive for her to approach KID..... Or, well, at least let Ai tag along with Conan during a KID heist so we can get both Coai and Kaishin banter, I'm not picky 🤣

BESTIEEE you really said "we are making Soh practice self-love today" huh??? In no particular order:

Insane bee print (The craftsmanship and detail is genuinely insane. I need you to know that I carved a wood board with this pattern and this was printed out with a press)

Celeste Ch. 1 & 2 Ballgown Designs (The best digital watercolor I've ever done. Also these designs slap and ALSO I'm obsessed with ballroom dancing as a concept relative to gender)

Sexy birdmen drawing lol (I keep saying that black + white + red is my absolute favorite color palette but I think this is the only place I ever ACTUALLY used it. This is my phone background rn!!)

Breaking Stasis (This is only on the list because it's a monument to my monstrosity. I'm immensely proud of this, even though it might not actually be a favorite??)

Coai/Shinshi Rain Illustration (The composition is bonkers and I could eat the colors in the reflection. High saturation my beloved)

I'M CRYING SOBBING BESTIE. JUST LOOK AT THIS SHIT

These are my newly sorted lists of Thoughts (which is different from my list of WIPs, which are halfway completed things). For the sake of answering the question honestly, I've crossed out everything I've drawn even a sketch for. Now, out of all these things, there are a couple of standouts that I'd like to talk about.

DCMK - okay so the Shinran genderbend AU STILL lives in my mind rent free. I wanted to draw a comic about how Shinichi helps Ran through it emotionally when his parents are getting divorced (okay! okay. I know. The Mouris aren't divorced but you know what? They ought to be)

Celeste - I really want to redraw the animation in the instrumental part of the Vocaloid song Mozaik Role, where Gumi fights her shadow self, with Madeline and Badeline. It would be so sick it would look so cool !!!

Kekkaishi - Okay so remember at the absolute end of the series where he's as the edge of his shinkai with sumiko, eh? and she tells him that she's staying behind, and then her shikigami is dispelled. you think he would just leave the paper there? you really think he would just leave it there? you don't think he would be crying sobbing as he clasped desperately onto the last material object his m

10. What's that one thing that inspired you to make drawing your consistent hobby?

it's simple. i want it to be my career <3

but even ignoring that I have WAY too much stuff I want to do. I have shit I gotta get to!! And not enough time to get to it all!!! usually I get the idea of either "haha this would be so fucking funny" or "haha this would absolutely destroy someone with misery" and then I just go from there!!! there's no middle ground between soul-crushing grief and shitposting
