one of these days i might run out of stories 😭 BUT i don’t think i’ve talked about the pokemon competition i went to when i was around 8 years old??? and i’ve been thinking about that recently so why not

i’ve talked before about how my interest in pokemon as a young person was defined by loneliness/isolation and how i never really had the social pokemon experience that most people did, so the few times i actually got to interact with other people over the shared interest stick out very strongly in my brain. in particular when i was i Think 8 years old, there used to be a small family-owned video game store in my town (it shut down a long time ago unfortunately, i miss it) and they ran events sometimes. i managed to find out they were running a singles competition in pokemon battle revolution, and my mom actually agreed to taking me

it’s important to keep in mind that i was like 8 and i didn’t know shit about competitive battling. i loved sinnoh and had pokemon i thought were strong but at this time i didn’t even know natures affected stats. i was an inexperienced little girl and i just brought my team of in-game guys that i liked. amusingly i was the only girl there, i just remember walking in and being surrounded by boys LOL both my age and older, like there were some older teens and maaaybe adults idk

anyway all things considered i actually got decently far because competitive mons was much more niche back then and no one knew what they were doing LMAO. i was mostly pitting my in-game mons against other kids’ in-game mons. i knew type matchups by heart and had some pretty decent pokemon to my memory - i don’t remember my entire team but i know i had torterra and articuno at least (articuno was one of my favorite pokemon at the time)

eventually i was… like… idk right before semi finals? i wasn’t quite in the top 4, i think i was in the top 8? i went up against an older boy who actually knew what he was doing and had a genuine competitive team. i’m not sure how old he actually was, at the time anyone above the age of 13 looked like an adult to me lol, i’m guessing in retrospect he was 17 or something. he THOROUGHLY kicked my ass with fucking BLISSEY TOXIC STALL lmao. at the time i was dumbfounded at how his blissey just took no fucking damage and it’s really funny being able to understand what happened in retrospect, i kept bringing my special attackers not being aware of blissey’s extremely lopsided defensive stats.

you’d think i would have been upset about losing but i was moreso really impressed with this guy’s blissey, and then smth i’ll never forget, after i lost he shook my hand and looked at me in the eyes and said that i did a good job and that i should keep playing pokemon because he thinks from the way that i played that i had a lot of potential. i was literally over the moon, it meant so much to be acknowledged with full seriousness by someone so much older than me who also lest we forget literally just beat my ass with toxic stall lol. having my interest in pokemon validated and being told i was good at it just made my entire week. or month. or year tbh.

nowadays that i’m a ribbon master mod and going to my first regionals next month, i think about that guy a lot. perhaps i was a late bloomer but i think whatever he saw in me was real. not that i’m the best pokemon player ever or something, and i’m certainly still learning a lot about vgc in particular, but like. yeah i do really care about this game and i think i have the potential to be good at it. and it was prophesized long agodjdjdk

always be nice to kids cause small gestures like that can stick with someone for the rest of their life tbh

I have lots to say about Nier automata now that I’ve finished route A along with obtaining a few of the sub-endings lmao (I won’t though till I finish the MAIN endings to go deep into the story, but as a man who loves existentialism and religious undertones, this is one of my favorite gaming stories and I haven’t even finished the main plot 😭)

This game is amazing lmao, I first heard about this game by an old Starbucks friend (he’s gotten me into a few series I would’ve otherwise never touched like FF, Nier, Persona, etc…) and I see why he loved this game so much

The themes of the androids and machines learning about humans, their consciousness and the machines even having existential crisis on who and what they should be when they’re not connected to the system is such an intriguing theme

The gameplay (when you actually play it, cause I ran though the first time I touched this game in 2020 lol) is so satisfying, the exploration is surprisingly fun for such a small map compared to other games but it works exceptionally well, the side missions are always thought provoking, some will surprise you and it shows the many flaws of mankind prior to them going away. The amount of weapons and upgrades are fantastic, I’ve been collecting them all like Pokemon along with fishing lmao

I first played the game on hard, but I highly DONT recommend that, the AI isn’t any smarter they just take more hits to kill and you die in like two hits and it’s not fun 😭😭 (I only played it on hard for the achievement when I had my ps4 lol)

It’s a really fun game idk what else to say and I’m having a fun time now playing as 9S (it’s much harder already and I’m level 33 but it’s still very fun and you can hack shit)

It seems like people see 2B’s and 9S’s relationship as a more romantic kind but I didn’t get that at all, it gives off a more younger brother/older sister vibe imo

Adam and Eve btw are very cool, Adam birthed by the machines who created him using the data they collected in an attempt to rid the androids, and eventually Eve who appeared after a fight with 2B and 9S and the apple lowkey being Adam himself is a bit interesting, after his death Eve goes mad and wants to wipe out the androids

2B and 9S kinda act as the serpent in a sense as because of them killing Adam, eve becomes incredibly violent and blames the androids and goes on a murdering spree. Eve essentially kinda becomes god in a sense? God in the Bible “resets” earth after witnessing the murder and deeming humans as too violent, kinda the same thing here, except Eve doesn’t see the irony of machines and himself also being violent and it only gets worse when Adam dies lol

Also both being men and not the traditional man and woman is interesting thus far and I wanna know more about this so im curious if they go deeper into their existence in the game

Imo this only happens because the machines are afraid of them wiping both androids AND machines as they’re both violent beings as what happened in the Bible though they have no idea that it’s not real (maybe idk) lol

The machines wanting to be more human is also an interesting thing here, created to at first kill and only kill, but eventually learning about humans and “humanity” notching there’s more to life than being a killing machine is such a unique thing here, watching them mimic human traits, trying to understand them and have a “consciousness” of their own is kinda like a child realizing there’s more to life when they start school and experiencing more except machines learnt through data received through networks

The idea that anyone can become human is pretty cool here

I will have much more to say on the plot as I continue the game but I highly recommend playing this if you haven’t already:)

games ive played in 2022, ranked from least to most favourite:

11: hollow knight (2017)

(i cant find a good gif for this one sorry 🥺)

i tried so hard to like this game. i should like it. its got bugs. its got atmosphere. its got worldbuilding and multiple endings. but god i hate platformers. i hate metroidvanias. this was painful to play and i will not be playing any more.

10: project diva future tone (ps4) (2017)

its a rhythm game so it really cant go any higher. i like it more than megamix (plus using the playstation is better than the switch i think) but yknow. i cant say its got great characters or story yknow? but the songs are good and its fun

9: final fantasy x (2001, switch remaster 2019)

i wish i liked this game more… its good but so watery. such old graphics. idk i just couldnt get into it even if the ending was really good

8. tales of phantasia (1995, gba version 2006)

very surprised at how well it holds up. its a tales game so it ranks higher than it probably should for me, but the characters are fun, the gameplay is fun, and its the first game in the series, so its iconic as hell. the old graphics and lacklustre combat knocked it down a few points (as did the goddamn mines…) but the enjoyment i got from it won out. good game. i played the gba version

7. splatoon 3 (2022)

sorry for not playing the other splatoon games this shit is FUN. salmon run is so good, yall. i put more hours into salmon run alone than most other games ive ever played. stream deep cut

6. ys viii (2017)

im actually still playing this one but MAN is it enjoyable. killer soundtrack. cool time mechanics. challenging combat. nice well rounded cast of npcs (and theres like 20+ regular ones!). makes me wanna try the rest of the series. even tho im kinda peeved that theres like no content for this game here but WHATEVER its good. play ys viii.

5. pokemon scarlet (2022)

yes it had bugs & ur correct to say i shouldnt have bought it. but theyve really perfected pokemon games with this one. open world is the way pokemon is meant to be played. the new pokemon are really good designs. the story was actually riveting at the end, the rivals are up there with sun and sword for how well done they are, koraidon’s one of my new faves, and holy god the soundtrack is good. the literal only thing that would improve it would be if it had a bigger dex and wasnt made in such a rush. i wish this game had come out next year or the year after bc then itd be perfect.

4. triangle strategy (2022)

this is the first strategy game in the genre that ive played, and i enjoyed it! i played it 3 times in a row to get all the endings + ramping up the difficulty made it such a good challenge. npcs couldve been a bit better developed, and the roland/benedict endings were bad to play, but the overall enjoyment of the gameplay and different paths puts it so high to the top.

3. pokemon legends arceus (2022)

i know i said scarlet perfected the series but whatever. ive always preferred catching to battling and arceus did a better job of that. between that and the way your character could actually get involved in things its probably my fave pokemon game ever ehehe 😅

2. tales of arise (2021)

i dont care what anyone says this was a REALLY good entry to the series. i liked the story and the twists. i loved the characters. combat was excellent (law main ↖️) and exploration was more fun than other tales games. might not be my favourite tales game but its better than (almost) everything else from this year!

1. tales of the abyss (2005, 3ds version 2012)

I LOVE THIS GAME. IF YOU HAVENT PLAYED THIS GAME YOUR LIFE WILL BE IMPROVED BY PLAYING THIS GAME. its about identity and tragedy and legacy and remembering the past and respecting the present and growing to care for yourself and your loved ones. its about herding rappigs and falling out of landships and going WHY ARE YOU ME. IM ME. it made me cry. its one of the best tales combat systems. why are you still reading this go play tales of the abyss.

Favorite character: Shauna because of the rivals she has the most discernible personality, she's pretty funny and likable. Diantha is very cool and very hot but really doesn't do enough or live up to her potential so. yeah idk I think Shauna

Least Favorite character: Lysandre makes my head hurt trying to understand what the fuck he's about. He makes me like Chairman Rose more by comparison and that says a lot

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): uuh Shauna/Serena is boutiqueshipping I think, right? Anyway, that's one. perfectworldshipping is pretty funny so that's another one. idk if phaesporiashipping counts cause Cynthia isn't actually in XY but if it counts then that. I don't know of any other Kalos ships sorry

Character I find most attractive: Diantha, I really love her design. The old movie star vibe she's got really does it for me. Plus she's Champion so like #girlboss even tho she's one of the easiest Champions to beat

a random thought: I really don't dislike XY as much as I make it sound like lmao I don't dislike it at all really, it's just that there's nothing about it that makes me want to play it over any other Pokemon game. Like I just don't Care about it is all

An unpopular opinion: Here's a big one, I never liked megas. A mechanic that only benefits like 30 out of hundreds of Pokemon, most of them being Pokemon that were already strong and popular anyway, was never that interesting to me for a casual playthrough, and only like 5 megas were even viable in competitive so it wasn't any more interesting there. And none of the Pokemon who got megas were gen 6 Pokemon despite the mechanic being introduced in gen 6? not even the starters? Oh no but lets give megas to the Kanto starters, hell lets give our special little guy Charizard two. come on. At least the Galar starters got gigantamaxes eventually and there were still plenty of gen 8 Pokemon that had them from the start. Also literally the only one that looks good is Mega Sableye, and that's just because it's regular Sableye but with ruby eyes and a big gem to hide behind. Every other mega is at best Fine and at worst ugly as shit, because the design philosophy for megas seemed to be "it's [Pokemon] but cooler, and cooler means busier". Have you seen mega Garchomp? Have you seen what they did to my boy? Disgusting. I never want to see it again.

My Canon OTP: "otp" is too strong a word for it but boutiqueshipping. That fireworks scene was so romantic coded this IS canon idc

My Non-canon OTP: phaesporiashipping. I just think Diantha and Cynthia should kiss

Most Badass Character: Diantha, at least in theory

Most Epic Villain: no. I am not giving Lysandre and credit lmao

Pairing I am not a fan of: I really don't know enough of the Kalos pairings to know which ones I don't like specifically, if it's obviously gross and bad for the obvious reasons etc etc then yeah throw it all out but like I don't Know

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): LYSANDRE. Also Diantha. How did they set her up to have an opposite philosophy to Lysandre in her first scene and then just never have her play a part in anything involving him later

Favourite Friendship: Shauna and Serena I guess, or Shauna and whatever the male player character was if you prefer. Calem? yeah

Character I most identify with: Sycamore because I am also a dumb idiot villain apologist

Character I wish I could be: I would sooner die than be French

Are there any games besides Payday that you're really into? I've been pretty hyper fixated on Terraria recently. Actually I did have a good question (maybe idk). Are you proud of how you're doing with The Cell? Like are you satisfied with the direction it's going and how the plot is unfolding or do you just feel like it's not right or it could be better? Also completely unrelated but Jacket just coming in and cock blocking Wolf and Hoxton is fucking hilarious

I have personally never played Terraria. My partner has played in the past & occasionally goes back to it, gets obsessed for a few days & then the cycle repeats itself all over again.

Games other than Payday I am obsessed with HMMM. Well... I often find myself going back to Left 4 Dead 2 (which isn't surprising considering it was inspo for Payday : The Heist). There's something weirdly comforting about it?

Recently I've been playing Pokemon Scarlet alongside my partner who plays Violet. We did our best to ignore news of new 'mons & spoilers & so far I have enjoyed the game! Pokemon came out when we were in primary school, so it's nostalgic for us to play, but we've also been playing the games together since we got together some 13 years ago, so it's kinda like a couples activity we do now, I guess.

I have a lot of time & love for Final Fantasy, too. FFIX & FFX are amongst some of my favourite games of all-time, but because of their nature (huge-ass games with sidequests that send the in-game clock into the hundreds of hours), they're not something I dip into all the time - but I do re-play them often, & even have tattoos referencing both games.

NOW ONTO THE CELL OH HO HO.

This is how I had imagined the Cell going all along, pretty much. I didn't always know how they would get to the exact position Wolf and Hoxton are in right now, but I knew that I wanted it to be an examination of Hoxton post-breakout, because when I first started playing Payday 2 (immediately after blasting through Payday: the Heist & loving it), I was disappointed that the development/story seemed to be told more through blocks of text accessible in menus & live-action films rather than in the game itself. Don't get me wrong, I love the live-action stuff and the opportunity to have written information on hand, but I felt a bit... disappointed... with how the breakout was this huge cinematic thing, and then the revenge happened, and then... Hoxton is back to his old self again? I didn't buy it. There would be more to it than that. Speaking as someone with anxiety, depression & PTSD... there's always more to it than that.

My original intention was to have the main focus be on Hoxton and his PTSD/anxiety/trauma from being left behind and replaced. As I started writing I quickly realised I was actually more comfortable writing from Wolf's POV. This inevitably meant I ended up focusing on his traumas too, but I'm not displeased with how it turned out that way.

I guess... when I first started writing it, I didn't think I would still be writing it so many months later. I knew it would be multi-chapter but I had no idea it would become as big as it has in terms of the word count.

Originally I wanted a way to take one of my favourite fanfic guilty pleasures tropes - 'but there was only one bed!' - and find a way to make it believable. We all love a good power-cut/thunderstorm situation - I've written them myself - but I wanted to challenge myself to write it in a more... plausible way?

I guesssss I also didn't intend on having Dallas be a prick... but he turned out that way.

If the focus is more on the 'am I proud' of the Cell, well... I have lost confidence in myself a bit recently. In the beginning I got a lot of comments which were really lovely & went into detail about what people liked or found funny, & now there are less of those & part of me wonders whether the readers are happy with the direction its going. That's... been a tough thought to deal with ngl, because I did really think I was telling a good story and telling it well, & now there's a lot more uncertainty & insecurity about it for me. But I need to hold steady and get the whole thing done so I can move on to something else because... it's been a long time.

Also lol Jacket. I originally wanted him to catch them in the previous chapter (before the rimjob scene), but figured it would be a bit awkward to have them get caught, then immediately getting back into it like 'OH WELL LOL', so I switched the order a bit instead.

I don't do a lot of those especially because I tend to forget to write them after being tagged.

Was tagged from @welcome-to-ikea , apparently the rule is you tag people you want to know more about, i'm honestly quite surprise you want to know more about me Ikea.

Here we go:

Favorite time of year: Winter I guess ? I like summer but not when it's too hot, and it's way easier to warm up when it's cold than to cool down when it's hot.

Comfort food: Chips, Candy, uh... dry sausage? (idk how you call "saucisson" in english). I eat a lot of snacks all week long, when I'm bored, when I'm sad, when I'm happy. The snack I want to eat on a particular day changes. I don't have one specific food.

Do you collect something ? I used to collect Pokemon cards, still buy some from time to time, I still have them ! tho i lost a fair few of them. I'm sure I may have had some pretty good cards too. Also a looooong time ago i used to collect samps and coins. I have no idea where they may have gone...

Favorite drink: I want to say Fanta. I don't think I have one but every time I have to choose I say Fanta by default. I drink a lot of soda and fruit juice.

Favorite song: It has changed a few times and I love listening to musique so much I can't really have one and only favorite song. I have to say I used to listent to Bangarang (Skrillex) a lot, Antidot (Style of eye & Magnus), then Spin eternally (Camellia), Sunburn (the Living Tombstone) and Chop Chop (Virtual riot) more recently...

Current favorite song: Ok so, funny story. I'm quite of a noobie in the TF2 community, and one day I was watching an sfm video, when one voice line seemed a little bit to familiar, turns out It was used in a song I listened to for a few years now. AND ! TURNS OUT ! The guy that made it made a few songs using TF2 voices so.... yeah I listen to all of them. I never liked songs that used voices from video games because usually it's kinda... cringe. But omg those ones, those ones are great ! So I'd say my current favoriteS songS are Cry some more, Chop Chop, and Pray for Riddhim VIP (all from Virtual riot). BUT ALSO Heartache, and also Temporaty love and I wanna be a machine (both from The living tombstone) and also...

Favorite fic: I don't really have one. I used to read a lot of them tho ! But I do have ONE that sticks to me, a very veeery long time ago in the middle of my creepypasta phase I discovered a very long fanfic that I remember loving at the time but re-reading it now it's... t's so bad, it's so so bad. But it's one of those "it's so bad it's good". To give you an idea, it's about a mary sue emo teenager named Marie Keter at the end of the first book she dies, and is brought back to life for the second book. She falls in love with laughing Jack (and they have a baby...), she doesn't know her father (it's another creepypasta, and dies at the end of the second book), in the third book suddently she had a long lost blind bother and there is a wolf named wolf too. The writer keeps adding characters from so random things like at one point there is IB from this old indi game, there is some manga characters, there is purple guy from FNAF and she even fuses her fic with the univers of Tokyo Ghoul, it makes no sens... and it's not just some references they play a big role and even stay for the rest of the story. I would link it but one: it's in french, and two: she deleted it, but idk why, I think Wattapad bugged, but I still have access to the three tomes on my old account.

And that is it, I wont tag anyone because I don't really know people here... But it was fun. Sorry for any mistakes and typos I may have made, I had a huge headache that lasted for more than a day now, it's 1 am and I thought it would be a good idea to write this...

Ok so me and two friends of mine were discussing about your pingo AU since i show it to them and like they fell in love with it but anyways, so we were talking about it and then Redda (one of my friends) suddenly stop talking and after two/three minutes she gasp and say:

Redda: Ok, ok! Listen! What if we took Tom Holland Spider-man and throw in there???

Oppalio: Redda . you . forking . genius!!!!

Me: Oh MY GOD YESSSSSS!!!

And we keep going on and on about because just yes! So here is what we manage to create storyline wise.

Ok so first it happened like some month after No Way Home (sorry if you didn't watch it so spoilers here), (Tom Holland) Peter is all alone, the last Parker alive and nobody remembers him. Right now he is very sad because of that, Arceus (or Giratina idk but one of the two) see that even though they ate a God from an inter other univers and decide by watching him and is life that mm yes great hero he will be a great help (Arceus) or fuck no you've been alone enough child here you go found family now stop being sad (Giratina) and just isekai him into the pokemon world and to Ingo.

He didn't lost any of his memories and is still very sad 😢 and now in an other world that he now about because he (headcanon of mine) use to play the game alot when he was a child (Black & White, B2 & W2, X & Y and the other newer game excepted the ones on the switch because brook), he is forking terrified but then calm down realizing, his own world need Spider-man but not him because nobody remembers him, is a ghost in is own wolrd, only existing there has only Spider-man not Peter Parker and here he can be himself, he can be Peter Parker with a little pinche of Spidey in there. He get up and noticed a small pokemon, an eevee close to him, looking at him. After that he start to wander around with the small eevee on his shoulder.

After some minute of wandering he finally checked is pocket finding his web-shooter and his cracked phone with only one message showing, Find Warden Ingo and help them hero (Arceus) or Find Warden Ingo, your new family and be happy hero (Giratina). So that what he did and it was verrrry fast since the second he put is phone down he bumps into Ingo himself, after some apologizing from both side Ingo finally present himself and Peter did the same. And like every other fallers Ingo decide to adopte him. And that how Peter gain a new and very very big family at 18 years old.

And we also think that Peter wouldn't really hide about his power since he doesn't need to because every one of his new family can very well defend themselves all alone but still he didn't outright say it but once he jump in and save the gremlins trio (Hilda, Elio and Gloria) + Brendan from an Alpha Steelix by literally punching it in one shot (Spidey can literally lift a blinded tank with ease and punch a T-Rex out cold in one punche) he had to explain his power and all the children were in awe and accept him very easily.

And i already add some idea for some pokemon he will catch:

- The eevee he befriended evolved into an Umbreon named Michelle

- An Audino he catch named May

- Two Rotom Ingo gave him because they kept flying around him, one's named Karen and the other's (a shiny) named Tony

- A poor little Joltik misplaced by a distortion named Droney

- And A Huisian Growlith named Ned

But anyways, he help Ingo around with the other children, play prank war with the gremlins trio, watch Calem and Cyllene swords match, wanders around with Brendan, just stay silent petting his pokemon with Red and many more.

While I am unsure of how to go about multi-media crossover concepts, it sounds like you and your friends have this concept down pretty well and are having a lot of fun with it! And while I’m not the most familiar with marvel/Spider-man stuff, I have seen No Way Home! (and it’s very good!! I enjoyed it!!)

AUs where characters are pulled into video games they play are always very fun to play around with, I really like that idea!! (Plus it gives the character an advantage since they know so much about the world through the video game) and having a little Eevee friend sounds so nice ;w;

And I can imagine how his tech would give him a big advantage haha, kids would want to wonder where that came from and probably think he’s trying to imitate Pokémon moves, like string shot!

And I like your thoughts on his team! The shiny rotom is great especially haha. And a joltik would be perfect! Love your choices and their names!

Ok but, if love to hear about some of your super heroes someone. Man if you haven't played Stardew Valley in a while you should, they recently updated it and added some cool new stuff. Also I totally get the shibari thing. I don't sketch or draw but I think it's very aesthetically pleasing in a non perverted way and can see how it's be a fun excessive in posing and angles and such, especially with some of the more extravagant artistic shibari. Do you have a PC and what consoles do you have? Sorry to hear that about your friend, I know even if you're growing apart loading a friend can suck really bad.

I so wanna see how the new updates look in Stardew, like there's a new island to explore? And whole new fruits? (My wine aging casks in the cellar are a vital part of my little operation bringing in cash every day so new fruit to make wine with is exciting to me, baha) And yeah, like even being like ten years in on one playthrough there are still so many trophies I want to attempt when I start it up again. Even though some of them depend on being a traitor and siding with Joja mart in a new save.

For consoles have my slightly battered PS4, which has weathered two moves and multiple corrupted data reboots sadly, and may need puttin out to pasture soon 🥲🥲🥲 Im really strapped for cash and the thought of pricing a PS5 or something as a replacement and Im trying to be like hold on old girl just one more 700 meg download of a DLC for me

I also have a Nintendo Switch handheld with, like, two games loaded that my friend James sent me, it's second hand and I do not love the controller drift but I really enjoyed Pokemon Sword and the remaster of Skyward Sword a lot!

And also my GBA, that thing will outlive me and I still have a dozen games for it. First edition, I got it for Xmas 2001, it has followed me my entire adult life.

And yeah, you get it! I truly believe all art has validity to it, even horny art has it's niche as expression.

And man I would love to talk the heroes I created in high school, it's just such a thing that I might be here all night 😅😅😅 It started, oddly enough, with me mimicking cartoons. Idk if like anyone remembers, there was a bad, old Avengers cartoon on Fox in the 90's. (It was. Bad. They all had armor, nonsensically) so starting in middle school, using that as a jumping off point, I created Avengers in Armor ripoffs I called the Detectives. And they were my first real attempt, middle school wise, to do more than just random comics. I took spiral bound notebooks and I just began filling them up. And I was experimenting, tinkering all the time, because creating an experience that was as much as I cojld make it LIKE a comic book, in that it was very crudely drawn anatomically bad figures from a middle schooler. But the formula began taking shape, the notebook pages became stock, nine panel grids and from there I just filled page after page with ongoing adventures of this team.

Now. The Detectives. Sucked. And even in 8th-9th grade, I was losing interest in them because that Avengers show I took the germ of inspiration for their adventures from didnt even last that long, and I was getting into other stuff. Harry Potter. Blade Runner. Toonami cartoons, MUCH better shit than Fox Kids. I began using that and started cranking out more and more heroes.

Killed the Detectives, just wholesale had them wiped out, they sucked.

But I began building a universe of heroes beyond them, starting with a Harry Potter sort of pastiche that I also used as a commentary on high school and he was a little bit okay a lot like me, named Johnny Dreamer. And then other heroes in Johnny's world. And then, another comic, which I brilliantly named Systems Crash, about a dark anti-hero named Downfall (total Deadpool ripoff) and a Supergirl pastiche I based off a friend of mine. And just on and on. The notebooks began bursting with content, and I was riding some fucking lightning pushing these out and not doing any schoolwork. I was creating a little shared universe.

Like I said, I remember it all too well. It's just there doesnt seem to be any getting it back 😅 which makes me sad.

And yeah. Story of my life a bit, friends leave. It never stops being hard, when people who spoke to me every day begin texting less and less and move on with their lives, but it feels like Im just not... worth it? Idk it does make being friends with people hard for me.

Racer and Sparrow are Watchers and somehow magicked their pokemon from the games into real life. Spot has the most tragic backstory. Smalls is a mako shark hybrid. Finch is a finch hybrid for no reason other then shits and giggles. I actually put thought into Jack and Crutchie with symbolism and reasons. Kathrine is a cat but not in the nice, shy, polite way, but in the vaguely demonic and full of chaos way.

Your honour hckdndk Emerald was legit the first pokemon game I ever saw fr, and Treecko was the first starter Mon I saw too, but when I got my phone and downloaded my first pkmn game, I didn't know Emerald at that time and the thing that shows up most was FireRed and I thought that was it so like imagine my confusion when I was going through the starters and I didn't see Treecko anywhere and the vibes are like, different lmfao

But when I discovered RSE man ofc I downloaded all three of em, I finally found Treecko hahah and like, when I saw the other starters they were so goddamn cool man the Hoenn starters are peak fr, all three of em were so fuckin dope and I really wanted to choose Treecko ofc bc he was the one I was looking for all these years, but then I saw Mudkip and yeah the rest was history hahah

Also dyk, I encountered my first ever shiny in Sapphire hahah it was a shiny Shroomish, unfortunately, I was out of pokeballs so I didn't get to catch it ;w;

But yeah y'know, until now I still wish I could play ORAS, I have a tab now y'know I can dl Citra, but like,, it's still lag as shit, I tried it on X so yeah owo. And then the Johto games, Crystal was the first GBC game I played and the first gen two game I played and it was so cool man, seeing the old sprites, seeing them move a bit, how cool Typhlosion was, having to battle Red for the first time hahah was even dope when I found out Lance became Champion, and while I'm not very fond of Kanto, it was cool that the games let us visit another region, that was the dopest experience honestly hahah

And like, I was curious tho bc I wanna know what I'd get when I completed the pokedex there, granted I never completed the dex prior to that, so busted out the cheats bc I really wanted to find out, and like,,, nothing owo. But hey ig, guess Crystal gets that point of being the first game where I completed the dex albeit cheated hahaha

Then I found out abt HeartGold and my guy let me tell ya my soul fucking ascended when I discovered my pkmn can follow me around man like that was dope as all fuck my Typhlosion back then was so goddamn cool jcmdndnd such a shame that mechanic wasn't in gen 5 anymore, it would've been dope plus story wise it would've made more sense if it was itroduced or was still around in the BW games

Honestly at this point I see Cynthia and Red kinda like Sans from Undertale, overrated and almost everywhere, the fandom hold them in such high regards that they just kinda ignore other characs or everything just kinda,, revolves around em? Idk, but, majority of the stuff I see are like that so hey y'know take this w a grain of salt hahah

And like, not that I hate those characs ofc, just that I don't see Red as a "legendary" trainer, and I honestly don't see the hype in Cynthia's fight, it,, it really wasn't that hard for me idk but hey

But ig it's also the fact that Kanto didn't give me much and Sinnoh was slow as shit even w the fast forward on in my emulator like my guy it's smth else💀 that plus the tons and tons of HMs you need to get through the game man it broke me o w o

So I have slept and awoke, and I still can’t think of anything else besides the time travel idea y’all handed to me yesterday. I truly think I could try to write something cool to match up with the new legends of arcaeus game coming in. Would this be something of interest here? Like a reasonably regular comic, I’ll do my best to tie it all to the plot of the game, and include characters that pop up. However the games story usually go down a heavily child friendly route, which I may want to swerve away from at points if it gets a little dull.

I am just spitballing this, but honestly I’ve not been able to think of much else.

Would you feel this comic writing is possible here or would it be too far fetched? I’m not sure if I’d be able to do it justice, or if anyone would be into it, but it feels exciting???

Idk man, I’m just a little stumped on what next and that feels really fun.

Things I’d love to include:

-Peach first hand discovering ancient regional Pokemon, realising that she’s been taken back in time, freaking out.

-Val was the only Pokemon who was with her when she got pulled into the past, and is the thread holding peach together for a while.

-Soft peach moments, where she misses grey, and feels hungry and tired and hurt, and just wants to go home.

-meeting key characters and potentially changing perceived notions about Pokemon.

-NPCs being old fashioned, cursing a naughty Pokemon to a painful end for a minor crime, peach steals the Pokemon and runs from the town, befriends it.

- does time move forward in the world she left behind? For ease probably not, but also imagine her coming back and everyone thought she died or something, it’s been months with no trace of her.

-great excuses to showcase physical peach tactics

-returning to her timeline would mean leaving behind the Pokemon she befriended? Not sure about the logistics of bringing them home.

-does she lose the memory of what happened once home? Val remembers but she doesn’t?

Feel free to add stuff? Opinions, thoughts, feelings, I just need to indulge a comic, and this has presented itself with enough time to start planning and sketching before the game comes out.

i like to think about the world of inscryption being its own little world rather than existing as a sentient video game

(cut bc kinda long + spoilers)

there no old data, nobody hates each other, its just the scrybes and their lands and theyre all chillin :) nobody wants to take over anything bc it wouldnt just be hijacking the narrative of a game, itd be ruling over the whole land itself. i heard its the old data that makes everyone hate each other so maybe they get along fairly well without it! they all just want their respective things to be respected and appreciated a little more

maybe they work like pokemon gyms then.. beat all the scrybes and their disciples and you can replace one of them (or become a new one?? would be cool)

idk about leshys whole teeth and eyes thing tho. i doubt hed actually make his challengers sacrifice their actual teeth for a few points of damage, itd probably be more like tearing them out of a skull or something. or even not having to actually pull anything at all and just having it be the implications that the player used one of their own teeth! fun and cool he loves setting the atmosphere and he Will stay in character until youre done

thinking about p03s campaign in this context is especially interesting bc you can argue leshy just pretends your player dies and rps as if youre a whole other person when you restart, but p03s uberbots all have to do with things like accessing your files and connecting to the internet which doesnt really work if youre playing against him in person and not through a computer.. unless the only way youre allowed to challenge him is remotely i think thatd be funny

his story still revolves around transcending and he never tells you what it is or why you should want it but at the end instead of uploading the game, he just uploads a compilation of your misplays, mistakes, and him beating you. he uploads your fail compilation

(( Soooo Pokemon AU? Idk if you’re a fan of Pokemon but given all the cool snippets and stuff you’ve written I figured I’d return the favour in a way and write this and submit it to you! I included some notes at the end! ))

– Unstable Genes –

Billy knew Steve would have a preppy, rich boy Pokemon. He just knew it. Granted he expected it to be something more powerful and less, cute.

The Eevee was always at Harrington’s side, matching brown doe-eyes observing the school. It didn’t shy from the larger Pokemon that approached it, nor did it act sickeningly sweet. It stood it’s ground, head held high, matching Steve’s general disinterest in the bustle of the school or the gossip around it. It was so weird to see such a small ball of fluff regard bigger, tougher Pokemon with such little concern. Billy didn’t know a lot about Eevees but he knew Steves was… off. For one thing, the aloofness. For another, it was (apparently) strong as fuck according to Tommy and half the school. Tommy in particular wouldn’t shut up about the battles the little Eevee had won, helping to secure old King Steve’s crown before he lost it. The other thing was that it hadn’t evolved, despite Steve apparently having it since he was ten.

Billy knew an Eevee’s DNA was extremely fucked. They evolved if you so much as looked at them funny. Buy some expensive stone and shove it in your Eevee’s face? it’ll evolve. Take them aboard to some fancy place and rub it on a stone in a specific place? It’ll evolve. Give it a ton of cake and pet it a bunch? It’ll evolve. It’s not hard to get those things if you can afford the Eevee in the first place. There were no wild Eevee’s anywhere; they were all from breeders and cost far more than anyone should pay for a Pokemon, so if you could afford the Eevee, you’d evolve it. If you weren’t keeping it for a pet.

It just made Billy all the more curious. Curious about the once King Steve and his un-evolved Eevee. And Klaus - his Luxio, the only Pokemon he had managed to keep from Cali - was equally curious. It wanted a decent fight. It saw the little Eevee, heard the stories, and licked it’s teeth, eyes gleaming. Klaus always looked for that Eevee, always trying to catch it’s gaze, caught between growling for it’s attention and purring, letting eelctricity crackle in it’s fur with every step. Billy couldn’t blame Klaus. He saw Steve and ached for the fight. To see his eyes focus on them and them alone, take charge of the battle, hear him issue commands to that Eevee. To get Steve’s skin under his fists, under his hands, to scratch, to grip, to grapple. To feel him sweat and bleed. To press him down with his body.

Then came the Night. Billy got to face King Steve, staring him down after being sent on a bullshit mission to find Max. He’d wanted this for so long but not like this. Not when it was backed up with the shit from his old man. Not when he saw Max peered from the window. Not when Steve fucking lied to his face about his sister being there with a bunch of weird boys. Klaus snarled, and Steve’s little Eevee puffed up, digging kitten claws into the earth.

It was criminal Billy couldn’t remember the fight that followed, thanks to the drugs Max had shot into him (that shit was crystal clear - the rest of the tape, the good shit, was covered in static and fuzz). He remembered throwing a punch. He remembered getting punched back. He remembered smashing a plate. He remembered feeling a pair of canines sink into his ankle as the little furball bit him, evading his attempts to kick it off. He remembered Klaus lunging, electricity crackling in his teeth as he lunged at the Eevee. And then, jackshit. But he saw the results of it the next day.

Steve was bruised, deep purple splotches darkening as his body worked to recover. On his pale skin they were beautiful, vivid proof that Billy had gotten his hands on King Steve and left a mark. Steve glanced over and for a moment, their eyes met. Billy didn’t look away. Steve didn’t either. Billy resisted the urge to lick his teeth. To make it another challenge. It was when his Luxio gave a deep, rumbling noise beside him, caught between a growl and a purr, that Billy turned, following his Luxio’s gaze to the Pokemon at Steve’s side. Billy wanted to punch something. Steve’s Eevee was no longer an Eevee. Steve’s Eevee had evolved, during or just after their fight, and he couldn’t remember it.

Billy didn’t know a lot about Eevee’s aside from them evolving at the drop of a hat. He didn’t know what it was, but it was not a preppy little furball anymore. It’s fur was sleek and black, with yellow rings on it’s legs and forehead, matched by bands around it’s ears and tail. The doe-like, black eyes were gone, replaced by knowing, red eyes. It looked directly at Billy. For an eternity, Billy stared at it as it watched him. The yellow rings glowed and dimmed in a hypnotic pulse rhythm. Yellow on black, like every caution and warning sign Billy had seen. Finally, it turned, following Steve down the hallway.

It didn’t take long to find a book on Eevees in the library, to find out what the hell Harrington’s Eevee had become. He found the page with a picture of the Pokemon, reading through it and freezing, ignoring the dirty look from the libraian as Klaus stood on his hind legs to look at the book, as if he could fucking read (Really, he was just staring at the picture).

“Umbreon, the Moonlight Pokemon. A well trained Eevee with a strong bond to it’s trainer can evolve into an Umbreon under the influence of the Moon.

A nocturnal hunter, it blends in with darkness by dimming the markings on it’s body. When excited and ready to strike, the markings shine brightly, startling it’s prey. It’s possible that it uses the glow of it’s markings to communicate with others… Not much is known about this Pokemon; Umbreons (and Espeons; see page 196) are unknown in the wild, and few trainers evolve their Eevees this way. Most cite that it is easier to evolve their Eevees through other means and train them appropriately according to how they evolve, rather than spend the time to attain these forms and then hone their training. Fewer still are willing donate their Pokemon for research on this elusive species…”

Billy looked down at Klaus, snapping the book shut. He knew Max had told him to stay away from her little weirdo friends. Which apparently included Steve. Which was still extremely fucking weird. But he wanted to know. He wanted to know what the fuck happened that night. Why Steve was there. What the fuck Max and those kids were doing. How Steve’s Eevee had evolved from some little bundle of fluff into a literal Pokemon of the night. “Klaus. We got some training to do.”

(( Steve’s Pokemon is an Eevee! It’s a rare Pokemon; in earlier games it couldn’t be found in the wild at all, and you’d only get one given to you. They can evolve into a total of eight different Pokemon, depending on what method you use, and each evolved Pokemon is a different type with different stats and abilities. So it’s very popular! It feels like the kind of thing Steve’s parents would give him and think “yep, we’re good parents, back to work/never being at home”. And given how listless Steve generally is, he wouldn’t have decided how to evolve it. Until it evolves in response to…well, the everything happening! Steve’s evolved into an Umbreon, a dark type, which has high defensive stats. Eevee evolves into Umbreon when it had a strong bond with it’s trainer and levels up at night-time - I feel like the events of Stranger Things would cause Steve to develop a very real bond with it and cause the evolution. And I can’t decide what he would name it or if it would be a boy or a girl (girls are much rarer than males - it’s like a 1/8 chance of obtaining a female Eevee).

Billy’s Pokemon is a Luxio! It’s essentially a teenage lion, and an electric type. They’re not super rare but they look extremely rad and channel electricity into their claws/fangs when they attack! They also develop the ability to see through walls when their eyes gleam a golden colour, which they use to trakc prey or lost cubs of theirs… It evolves from a Shinx (a cub basically) and then evolves into a Luxray (the adult lion). It feels very Billy to me! I imagine he had another pokemon that was a water type/fish, so he had to leave them in the sea when he ended up going to Hawkins. I also took the name Klaus from the lead singer of the Scorpions cos I am not that good at coming up with names.

God this ended up being massive, I completely understand if you don’t post this. I don’t really know how to sign this off cos this is literally my first contribution to the Harringrove fandom despite lurking for a while. But again, thank you for all the stuff you write! I LOVE pokemon this is so fucking good. I’ve definitely thought about Steve having an Eevee before, and I love it evolving That Night, especially into Umbreon, that’s so GOOD and POWERFUL. I also love the idea of Steve with Mimikyu for,,,, angst reasons. And I love Billy with Luxio. I totally see him with electric or fire types because he would really like the strength and energy those types bring. I’ve thought about him with Cubone (also for angst reasons), or even Growlithe/Arcanine mostly bc I’m more familiar with gen 1 and 2. Seriously, I love this SO MUCH and if you ever wanna write more 👀👀 I would LOVE to read it.

Late night ramblings on legends because when i get hooked on something i don’t shut up

The game’s absolutely going to get crunched with the early release date, but I doubt it’ll be delayed (I'd be both disappointed and relieved if it does). unfortunately I sold my soul to Game Freak the second I saw both Cyndaquil and Shinx in the same game so I’m absolutely getting it

I like how it’s not part of a dual-game or whatever the term is for basically every other core ‘mon game. Like in Sun and Moon, Sword and Shield, each game as exclusive Pokemon with minor differences.

A few articles and leaks mentioned seamless battle transition but I hope that’s not true. I know it’s a small think, but something about the battle screens are charming.

I want another trailer very badly

I’m happy the game seems to be going back to the good ol “Catch ‘em all” motto. I really love the concept of being the pioneer of the region’s dex. In every game I’ve played I always get sidetracked evolving my party and catching every new thing available in each area.

i’ve never traded a Pokemon in my life so i hope those trade-only evos can be caught in the wild. please i want to complete the pokedex for once in my life nintendo

I don’t think it’ll have all Pokemon thus far and I wonder which ones it will have. I wonder if there will be new ones. Maybe Pokemon implied to go extinct later on? (Ex: “Hunting for meat is making this Pokemon’s population dwindle.”) The Pokemon equivalent of the dodo? How would they introduce a new species from a past setting?

Lore about old Pokemon?? Like Unown?? And Spiritomb??? Please????? (I think Unown will be important in the story, whatever it may be)

Ancient forms of modern Pokemon would be cool I think

How does the setting affect stuff? I want Poke Ball lore. Like do we have to make our own? That sounds so cool, having to explore the wilderness and collect apricorn. I think the Box system will be turned into a farm-like setting. Maybe the Player(’s family) lives on a ranch?

I’m 90% sure it’ll have the camp feature. It makes sense to set up a tent and cook for your Pokemon out in the wilderness. I wonder if there will be variety in food to cook, if that’s the case. But if my Pokemon must live off of curry and curry only, then I shall accept it.

I wonder who our rival will be. Will they be a researcher, too? (Who’s even going to give us our starters? I have so many questions)

Will there be gyms? A champion? I wonder how that’ll turn out. Will it be an older, more flawed system than the current one? Maybe the champion is a tyrant or smthin (wasn’t there a point in Japan where the military had rule above the emperor? probably not at all in feudal Japan, just a shot in the dark) and the Player has to defeat them idk I’m not one for that level of theorizing

in short this is the Pokemon game i’ve been most hyped for ever. it has so much potential and I think even if it gets crunched and spat out a mess it’ll still offer so many new and fresh things to the series.
