ive been a halfhearted dnd defender for a minute, bc i was really involved in indie ttrpg twitter for a while and I Am Not Anymore because frankly. it just got too hostile and crab bucket-y. a lot of people acting like critical role or dimension 20 were opposing them by playing a game that had widespread brand recognition (and also getting mad whenever critrole played something OTHER than dnd. i haven't forgotten how hostile everyone i knew in that scene was when critrole played monster hearts. like what do you want??) or like people who play dnd are popular jocks and people who play indie games are bullied nerds. when actually we're all nerds. nobody is cool here.
and i would especially get frustrated when people would recommend games to play instead of dnd that are not at all a comparable experience, or didnt have the same things people liked in dnd. sure, you could play Masks if you want to play a superhero game instead of just reskinning DnD, but Masks is about teens, and the fact that you're playing as teens is core to the mechanics, so it's not a good suggestion for someone who wants to play as adult superheroes. sure you can suggest someone play Blades in the Dark if they want to play a heist team, but BitD is incredibly punishing! every time ive played it, it felt almost impossible to get a full success at anything. that can be fun, if that's the kind of game you want, but if i want to play a game where i feel cool and like im good at things, then BitD is not a good replacement! I cant tell you how many times I've seen people say that you don't need to just reskin dnd when there are games that are more specifically tailored to the experience you want, and then in the same breath act like the games they're suggesting ARENT specific actually and can be used to craft any kind of experience you want. Is the genre baked into the mechanics, or isnt it? because it cant be both!
and thats not even getting into when people would suggest replacements that aren't even close. a lot of "dnd sucks nobody should ever play dnd. instead of dnd, why don't you play MY game, where youre a couple thats getting married in 2 months and you're still planning your wedding?" like... why would i play that instead of dnd, if i want to play dnd? those have nothing in common, beyond the fact that theyre both tabletop games. it's like saying "Instead of watching Star Wars, you should watch Get Out!" sure, they're both MOVIES, and Get Out is GOOD, but i think to suggest that someone who wants to watch Star Wars would have an equal if not better experience watching Get Out instead devalues both. They're not interchangeable because they're trying to do entirely different things
So I would get incredibly frustrated when people acted like people who were choosing to play DnD were just making a mistake, and that they couldn't possibly be getting anything out of playing that game specifically
ALL THAT BEING SAID wizards of the coast sucks ass and they can clean my balls. they should get put in the stocks and i should get to pelt them with tomatoes. i like playing in the sword and sorcery fantasy setting, and dnd was always my go-to game for that because Dungeon World is the worst game I've ever played (i can think of one or two other games in the same sort of setting, but i haven't tried them or met anyone willing to run them) but ah well. WotC can eat shit for this copyright bullshit

Ladybug dies how
peacefully in her sleep at the ripe old age of 94 NAYYYYY IM SORRY
Assuming youre here cuz koby told you to come and yell at me for doing this and id like to say first of all im very sorry i just love tragedy soooo much. koby got really mad at me when i first brought up the idea and it also tortures me horribly too And we also talk a lot about the alternate universe where she doesnt die and instead she and casey just move to new york and hang out and get married and Chill Out
but in the "canon" ending im sorry yes nell dies (ducking rocks and bricks) IMMM SORRY! She's subject to the hereditary blue beetle curse of dying in a fight tragically young (she jumped in front of the metaphorical bullet for jaime on account of he's exempt because he has a much healthier support system than other beetles)
i'm a hack so i haven't really drawn or written anything concrete about it but how it goes down in my mind is your classic event/crisis where all the heroes are mobilised to fight off the annual universe destroying threat. this time it's aliens of some kind and while the league and the rest of the important guys are up there fighting or negotiating or punching the universe or however this particular one gets solved, ladybug is down on the ground in gotham helping to evacuate people and deal with some alien scouts/robots/etc that are menacing civilians. (casey has already been evacuated and is safely sheltering underground with a bunch of other civilians, being checked in on every now and then by some flash or another, & her general attitude is UGH Can you idiots get this sorted out so we can order chinese and watch real housewives...)
it happens while ladybug is getting a family to safety and an alien scout lands on the roof of their apartment. he ushers them downstairs and to his credit does a good job of holding off the attacker while the civilians get out of there - nell has no powers but is a very competent fighter and also is decked out with plenty of kordtech gadgets to help even the playing field :] but it's been a long day and she's so exhausted and there's only so much you can do when an alien shoots you in the chest with a laser and flies away and leaves you to bleed out
so there's nell with her communications down & unable to move & lying there staring at the sky full of invading spaceships and flying superheroes... if she could get someone's attention she might be okay but everyone is busy. it's a crisis! and nell knows that, she knows what this whole business is like, and she's been ready for something like this to happen for a while. nell is a very confident person but she isn't deluded about her own mortality... it's part of her personal philosophy that it's cruel to have too many attachments if you're likely to die horribly young (a mentality learned from the death of her mother and refined by the death of ted kord) so isnt it great that she doesnt have many friends? and that she's on okay terms but not super close with her family? and that casey doesnt actually care about her at all and wont be affected by her untimely death past the inconvenience of finding a new place to live?
lol
at the end of it all nell isn't really that upset about dying... they went out doing something worthwhile, they saved lives, they did the best they could with what they had, and they made a positive impact on the world while they were here. and that's about what he's always wanted to achieve so hey a+ work ladybug! obviously its not like he WANTS to die, theres always more to do, things he's going to miss... he'll miss talking to ted, working on gadgets and sorting through problems and making him laugh... he'll miss his family obviously but they'll be fine without him... michelle is someone she hadn't expected to get so close to, but she and ted both have booster to keep them on track
really annoyingly as she's closing her eyes the person who keeps coming into her mind though is casey. At this point nell is pretty aware that she cares about casey more than she ever planned or wanted to and has done a lot of mental gymnastics to convince herself that it's fine that nothing ever came of it (and now nothing ever will) and in her last moments she reassures herself that it's onesided and casey doesn't love her and he'll be fine without nell and You did a great job at not forming attachments ladybug that's why you're the best! but she can't help the surge of intense regret and fuuuuuck what if it was different and what if what if.........
here's my primo ladybug dying on a roof song
Nell's fatal flaw will always be her self-reliance and conviction that she's doing things the right way despite it all. if she bothered to communicate with the people in her life then she might be swayed on her views on love, or if she was less stupidly independent then maybe she would have been working with another hero and wouldn't have been in this situation. but that's tragedy i suppose, knowing how a character could have escaped their fate and yet having to accept that in this scenario with this set of rules there was no other way for this to happen
anyway if you'd prefer to think about nell alive and happy living in new york with casey then please do that. It's easy and free and it makes me smile

What if Miguel gives you a suit anyway even if you're not a spider person to protect you? 👀👀 one that moves when it senses danger so he's less worried about you when he's not there (but also with commands only he knows and really only he can disable? 👀👀👀). Reader can't take the suit off and realizes too late 👀👀👀👀 (I'm user filthdumpformeself btw)
Godddddddd it would open Reader up for some real manipulation and potential abuse. To be a NORMIE? At least some of these characters are scientists and inventors, but if you're just a powerless civilian, you'd be almost jumping at the opportunity to be something more, to mean something in this super-powered world you're in
I mentioned in another idea, 'what if Reader lost their home universe and they live where the Spider Society is' and you just 24/7 have to have a bracelet on or you'll glitch out and no on will know what will happen. Usually you'd return to your home universe, but since YOU don't have one, would you just POP! cease to exist? He never tells you, but the thought TERRIFIES Miguel, and once a week he's making sure to personally perform routine exams on your wristwatch to make sure it's functioning. So imagine if he eventually expanded on that. The suit would need some sort of source to project out of, so he combines it withe the bracelet. You still need to bathe after all!
As a person with a physical disability, I often think about and well, grieve over the abilities and physical fitness I'll never be able to have, and I think Reader in this scenario would have a similar experience. You're a normie surrounded by superheroes and genius scientists and they're all doing flips and hanging upside down and have zero fear of heights and natural invulnerability and EVERYTHING! You're in Spiderman Super Central and you're the only one who isnt allowed to be in the super special big boy club. It would make you so isolated and depressed, especially because like, Nueva York looks HUGE, so like there's definitely parts where all the normal people live, but Miguel insists you live in the Society to keep an eye on your bracelet (and also to keep you around)
This is where you're vulnerable to the manipulation and potentially having to do whatever he asks. You're DESPERATE for the freedom and fun and feeling of fulfillment only the suit can provide. It's a proverbial carrot he's dangling over your head. You want your powers back? Behave yourself. Do whatever he wants.
Just imagine it. You're high on the euphoria of getting to run around with other spiders and actually have some sort of purpose and, a new Spidey friend of yours is like "hey I got some goons in my home universe, what if you tagged along?" And suddenly Miguel is getting a little ping on his own bracelet "bracelet number 8364937 whatever tf just warped to coordinates XYZ" and he FLIPS OUT. They had you exposed to danger? They had you fighting?! And he storms all the way over there to see you're actually doing great and fighting fine, but so much of that is the suit, and you and him start an argument until he snaps. He didn't give you this suit to run around in suicide missions, and he scolds you not to do this again.
Snapcut to him finding out you did it again, and even confronting you WHILE another Spider is showing you the ropes and letting you train and fight (who will receive a severe punishment for it later). The two of you just start really arguing as you vent your feelings of uselessness and anger on him, maybe even saying something like "you can't just... try and CONTROL ME like this! You gave this to me, it should be mine to use!" And he just looks at you coldly. "You're right. I AM the one who gave it to you." And suddenly he's hitting a button and, you're still standing there in a suit strikingly visually similar to his own, but you can feel the exoskeleton kind of slack off your body, you feel heavier, and when you storm away from him angrily, you find out that your suit has had every function disabled. Every single one. No slinging webs, no defying gravity, no invulnerability, no super strength. Your Spider friends invite you for a swing around the city? You have to tearfully turn them down, and suddenly you're all isolated again. You're having to constantly turn down your friends and watch everyone have fun without you until you're going back to Miguel in tears, begging for his forgiveness, asking him what you can do for his forgiveness. PLEASE don't do this, with that suit you could help out around the Society and in other dimensions, or, you could at least just live a fun life in this place, and you're begging him with tears, PLEASE please please don't take away your new purpose
Not to mention you would have no idea but he can just constantly spy on you. He can find your location, he can listen in to your conversations and I imagine if you're all suited up, that he can potentially even control your movements. You mouth off and he just crosses his arms, "ok then. Power suit, activate protocol TO-1H" and suddenly your legs are marching you to your room and forcing you to give yourself a time out for an hour and he's monitoring you on a SpiPad while you cry by yourself and he can hear you whimpering all your private thoughts. "I just want to mean something... why is he doing this to me..."
An idea I had for the Spider Reader vs Evil OTHER Spider Reader which can also be applied here is, like, imagine you start clearly sinking into a depression during one of your "no spidey time" punishments and you're just feeling alone and sad as you eat in the food court with other Spiders and you're just looking down at the watch and suddenly you just say "do you think if I took this off I would die?"
The entire fucking cafeteria has their Spidey Sense go off and everyone looks at you. And you force a laugh, feeling super awkward as your face burns, and before you can laugh out "it was just a joke", something is casting a shadow over you, and you look up to see Miguel towering over you, one of the rare occasions he came out to socialize with other people. To try and eat with YOU. And he just heard you say THAT? THAT'S when he decides, you know what, I'm making this bracelet/suit unable to be taken off without special permissions 😤 no suicide or leaving allowed
But I imagine even if he doesn't want to see you taking risks and potentially getting hurt, he probably feels so warm and fuzzy and proud when he's teaching you new Spidey things and you pick up on then and do a good job and he praises you and you hit him with a big smile that makes his heart melt as he decides, ok, MAYBE he can let you play with your little suit, but only because it gives him more excuses to spend time with you ❤️

Do you think Gerard's comics are good? I haven't read all of them. I felt like the story doesn't really wrap up well and make sense good in the Killjoy comics or Umbrella Academy but maybe comics are just like that. Maybe they were imitating other writers I don't know about and I'm missing context. What are your thoughts
anon i am so deeply biased towards gerards comics but YES i do think theyre good! I think lots of the critiques are fair but i also think it leads to the fandom kind of underrating him as a comic author at times and dismissing the work out of hand. I especially see this for umbrella academy and to answer your other question yes i do think some of it is a matter of missing context! TUA was never...really made to be a popular and commercial comic? The satire and style are very inside baseball, mostly about x men, as well as later leaning more into a silver age style of both writing and illustration (which is why im soooo obsessed w hotel oblivion guys its so goood its so good i swear)
When it comes to other comic runs, I'd say killjoys comics tend to be the messiest but they are also deeply meaningful to me wnd natuonal anthem is so fucking gorgeous and interesting (controversial but im a natam ending defender even if i think the comic itself couldve used another issue or 2 to push the character writing more). I think gerard has one of the better doom patrol runs, Including milk wars i'd put it up there at maybe 3rd or 4th depending on how much i let personal bias into the equation. However doom patrol is also very Like That just as like a superhero group and can be kind of impenetrable if you arent down for genuinely bizarre and sometimes seemingly nonsensical writing, its kind of apart of the teams DNA as the "worlds strangest heroes". Milk wars is soso good and maybe one of my favorite Comic Things gerard has made/been involved with but its also best with looots of comic context bc its playing w both doom patrol history and the context of where DC as a company was during the time of its release. Its still relevant in many ways but probably feels impenetrable if you arent already into comics at least a bit.
Gerards style def isnt for everyone (and they do sometimes get bored and cheese the ending a bit though i defs tend to like them more than other ppl do) but i do think theyre extremely good at what rhey do and im soooo excited for paranoid gardens especially bc 1. gerard has always taken an extremely empathetic and nuanced and honest approach to writing about mental health and mental illnesses bith real and semi fictionalized and 2. the artist on board is an industry mainstay and has made some fucking incredible work! I didnt love the first issue cover dropped and was worried i wouldnt click w the artstyle but after properly checking out chris westons style im really excited!!!! gerard time

So I Love when superhero comics explore religion and in a good chunk of the comics I've read (basically all marvel) there's an exploration of both how established human religons feel about superhumans and how different superhumans/species/aliens/robots feel about religion. But I feel like I've never seen this in DC comics or heard it mentioned by fans?? Like how do famously vocal and reactive american Christians feel about superman? Wonder woman??? And there's mentions of kryptonian religion but how deep does that lore go? Any good recommendations for this topic or just your thoughts 🤔
(Also I love your blog and the lil panels of kon you share are always adorable)
hmmmm. you may be interested in supergirl vol. 4 (mae/linda becomes an angel on earth). which is like... honestly, i didn't like those arcs that much because i personally don't really like religious stuff and i also don't think bringing christianity into superfam is Great djflk BUT, if that's what you're curious about, it might be worth a read!! you might also like superman smashes the klan. like, obvs the kkk isnt every american christian but given that there are people in it who are scared of superman when he reveals hes an alien, etc., it's also something i think.
as for kryptonian religion - their gods are... kind of real? like, kind of like how Every [mythical] pantheon is kinda real in dc (and i guess some pantheons that are part of major world religions today, i.e. that tt03 arc based on the ramayana, though i still dont know that i Loved how it was handled). chris kent becomes the vessel for nightwing and thara ak-var becomes the vessel for flamebird (which is fun bc kara's like I don't believe in these gods. meanwhile her bestie/worstie is like That's Cool . one of them is literally in my brain. its a whole thing). however, i'll definitely admit i haven't read a ton of their deep mythos and there's a lot about kryptonian religion i haven't encountered yet myself, so others might have more to add on that!
overall i think dc doesn't really get into religion or particularly real-world religions much because they don't want to alienate anyone. which is kinda like... well yeah marketability, but also i can see how people interested in stories about religion or including religious people might find that disappointing! but for me personally, i grew up in a pretty religious area and i have some degree of religious trauma, and i'm kinda sick of the whole thing, so to me, it's kind of refreshing to just be like yeah god is not a factor in this story.
(and thank you!!! have another tiny kon for the road.)

For your WIP folder…. Omg it’s so hard to choose. Wonder Soldier AU with Kix?
thank you so much for the ask!!!
omg. this is the one im currently rotating in my brain. im SO VERY obsessed with it.
(im going to ramble so badly here lol pls dont feel you have to read it all but im VERY excited by this au)
ok so. ive been rereading the winter soldier comics. starting from the first reveal of him in captain america onwards. i feel like everyone knows about the 'who the hell is bucky scene' which is a real heartstopper but omg. there are so many moments that didnt make it in to the films. theres just so much feeling there and i see a huge paralell between a lot of stuff bucky goes through and the clones origin.
i'd seen winter soldier au's with various clones before, but there was always something missing for me. on my reread of the comics i realised what it was. the being out of time. finding yourself in the future unexpectedly. having to adapt. getting used to being alone. and then realising you arent. realising that someone you failed to save is here. is still maybe capable of being saved. is such a huge part for me. thats the driver of so much emotion.
and i realised that there IS a part of star wars that makes me feel kinda similar. Kix's story. Kix finds himself waking up in a galaxy that has moved on. theres no room for him anymore. he was once a part of something, but now he isnt. he's never been alone before, but now he is, without question. he is the last of his kind. and after he finds out what happened, his identity as a medic is really threatened. his job was to heal his brothers, to save them. but when it mattered, he couldnt.
so then i started thinking. what would it be like for kix, facing this reckoning, having faced it for a while. finding himself a place in this new world, beginning to fight the first order. beginning to move on from something thats really quite impossible to ever truly move on from. what would it be like for him to face what steve rogers does in those comics?
for anyone that doesnt know, steve and buckys stories in the comics are slightly different. they are brought together because captain america needs a sidekick. they dont know each other before. and bucky is pretty much a kid at the time. he's 16. steve becomes like his older brother as they fight in ww2 with a superhero group called the invaders (pretty much like the avengers) against nazi superheroes and the like, unitil, just at the end of the war, they get captured. steve watches bucky being tortured, he cant stop it, and then when they escape, bucky sacrifices himself. the last thing steve sees before he gets frozen is bucky, just out of steves reach, unable to be saved after sacrificing himself for their cause. steve is awake in the ice in the comics. he has all those years to dwell on it, and when he gets out, the world has moved on and its far far too late to save anyone he knew.
buckys backstory has some real similarities with the clones. he grows up on a military camp, his dad dies when he's like 12 and he ends up staying as a kind of camp mascot. he grows up in the army. violence is every day for him. its all he knows. and when he gets recruited as captain americas sidekick. its all about the image. he is a propaganda tool. there to look like a kid so that other kids want to join up, but trained to be a killer. he is there to do the dirty work that captain america cant be seen doing. he's an assasin from the start. deadly efficient.
buckys return in the comics is delicious. it comes out of nowhere, to the reader and to steve rogers. he has been living in this new world and has accepted that noone will ever really understand him. anyone that survived ww2 looks at it with rose tinted glasses, but in a lot of ways to steve, he's still there. and then comes the winter soldier, a cold war relic, woken up to meet someone elses aims. in a lot of ways, it echos how steve has been working for america, putting out fire after fire, since he got out of the ice. the people around steve put the pieces together before he does and when they try and break it to him, he refuses to hear it. he wont look at their evidence. he simply cant. to know that not only could he not save this younger brother figure, but that while he was frozen, powerless, bucky was taken by the enemy and used in the worst kind of way. made to do things he never would have done (a big part of this is that bucky never would have worked against america. his patriotism was a huge part of his character thanks to his upbringing, which his handlers knew and found pretty funny. they used him to fight america because it was ironic). like omg. the paralells there! with the clones being raised to serve the republic, being raised to know nothing but loyalty because alll they knew was the military. and then having chips in their heads force them to do the last thing they ever would have done? again and again?
steve refuses to believe that its bucky. but we begin to see that he knows. he's just in denial. he fights the winter soldier and we have the 'who the hell is bucky moment' and then, his denial is shattered in the worst possible way. a dossier is delivered to him holding records from the winter soliders handlers from the start. he has to see the cold and impersonal documentation of the ppl that ripped his brother, his best friend, from death (from peace) so that he could be used against his country. he'd forgotten everything about who he was, all he had was the muscle memory of this fight. he could still fight. he was still a killer. these files document a kind of sick amusement from his handlers at his situation. his drs talk about him like he's an object for testing. (there are so many paralels here with the kamineese, palpatine, jango and how they treat the clones). worse than this. the files show that even without his memory, bucky fought them. during a mission in america he dropped off the radar, confused and lost, but trying to find something of himself. at this point they start wiping his memory after each mission and keeping him in stasis. he is no more than a tool. the whole thing is heart wretching. i know the movie version touched a lot of ppls hearts but. oh my god. it doesnt even touch the surface.
that feeling. those vibes. are the backbone of this au.
kix is beginning to move on. and then, the first order pull out the winter soldier. kix fights him and he's caught. because this stranger, decades after the last clone died, fights just like a clone. and against his will kix is just. pulled in. it feels like one last link to his brothers. he needs to know who trained this assasin. he needs to know more. this guy is like a ghost. the more he finds out the further he feels from any answers. what he finds. well none of it fits together. this guy has been doing this for decades. is he the first winter soldier? was he the one trained by a clone or was that his predecessor? his predecessors predecessor. kixs new war continues, as he investigates. this is simply a side quest. research to resolve his own curiosity.
and then, kix is fighting yet another battle. and in comes this guy. and as they fight, it gets to the point where its just kix and this assasin and the guys mask falls off. and he's a clone. and its an impossibility. its not something kix ever let himself imagine. how can there possibly be a clone here? how can he possibly be so young. he's hardly physically older than kix, in statis all these years, and the guy runs and kix is left. just. shellshocked. he goes back to his research. it doesnt make any sense.
time passes and kix realises who this winter soldier is. he knows him. not only that. he knows exactlly how they are controlling him. its the chips. the chips that kix was unable to save his brothers from. he woke up here and he thought it was too late for anything. his brothers long dead. him, unable to save any of them. he's a medic but he was not enough. yet. here is a chance. a chance at redemption. a brother, just one, that still needs saving. that kix has a chance of saving. and if he does. its someone that will understand. someone who knows what it is to be a clone. someone who knows what it is to wake up in a new galaxy, after years of stasis against your own will. its a chance.
the story deals with kix trying to face this. the whole thing is just like. emotional turmoil. he's given himself a impossible task. he's trying to save someone that does not want saving and very much wants to kill kix. in doing so he's having to face all this trauma and shit he had just accepted living with. and even worse. he gets to see a chipped clone in action. the lack of self preservation, the lack of control. kix gets to see what it would have been like for every one of their brothers. and he has to face that. its a journey thats kinda agonising. lots to face up to. lots to be dealt with. bad situation all round.
im so sorry for how long ive rambled but. oh my god im so utterly obsessed with this. its taken root in side me. the idea. the thought of them. gives me a feeling in my chest thats just. beyond words.
theres another post where i talk about it here also here
im just...screaming. the whole thing makes me want to scream and bite and never stop
ive yet to actually write anything that i can share loool cause ive just been chewing over the idea HOWEVER rest assured once i have something i'll be sharing it on here lol cause i need to yell about this au as much as possible

next time you get bored u should answer this ask to talk about your Eric and Morbius ^_^ i love Blade so much so i’m interested in what you have planned so far
hiiiiiiiiiii im procrastinating lol. anyway so you know how this is a hall of mirrors ass story and everybody parallels everybody? yea
sooo eric is the biggest and clearest foil to morgan bc they have.. so much in common. not quite a vampire. trying to atone for times they lost control and killed human people. badass vamp-killing machines. many such cases but the Differences are the funky bit bc on one hand morgan had a like. half-decent upbringing with parents and a house and everything, hes far from stable but the idea of emotional vulnerability isnt totally alien to him. Eric was a very lonely child in a terrible life-threatening situation who grew up into a very lonely adult in a slightly less terrible life-threatening situation.
to be clear eric does have people in his life! its just that theres only 2 of them. he got adopted by his cool butch biker mom whistler as a young teen and theyve been doing the vampire slaying thing ever since, and a few years ago they picked up a hematologist called karen jensen who fell into the "older sister" role. (okay yes like 80% of the blade-related plot was pulled straight from Blade (1998) but ignore that im doing some funky shit with it. okay.) she says shes an uninvolved civilian who provides medical aid since she owes eric a life debt, but this is a lie. shes In the shenanigans.
so like he does have his gay little found family but theres some shit they just dont Get yknow. so then once he does start trusting morgan they get. Very close . Very quickly. hes experiencing previously unknown types of human connection, including being gay in practice and not just in theory! and sure hes kinda avoidant and struggles to open up and express his feelings or establish boundaries but thats ok bc morgan is so anxious about rejection and abandonment that hes very willing to put in tons of work with being vulnerable! theyre meeting somewhere in the middle, they think! morgans only a little bit clingy and always suuuuper apologetic when he crosses those unclear boundaries! surely this is a healthy dynamic that wont collapse catastrophically due to communication problems!
anyway primary foil number 2: peter-man. as in superhero role model / the cooler super-powered role model. like pete always sees morbius as someone who needs to be helped and guided and saved and supported and first and foremost as his Responsibility. eric, at least at first, sees him as a Fucking Threat. to be understood and/or neutralized. and morgan really appreciates that! then eric learns to trust and respect him and they begin this totally-not-dysfunctional partnership of equals, its kinda cute if you ignore that its blatantly barreling towards destruction <3
edit i completely forgot the point of that last paragraph. eric respecting morgan like an equal makes him realize that actually, spider-guy is being kind of a cunt about this and why is he trying to prove himself to that loser anyway hes got a cool goth boyfriend now. he actually tries to earn peters respect by making him recognize him as dangerous which BACKFIRES BADLY lmao bc peter is trying to control morbius' sense of Hero Ethics just as much as hes trying to control who he punches and when, so seeing morgan get scary makes him double down on the "holy shit dont get evil" stuff. which also backfires badly. these dudes are all fucking trainwrecks

It's not your responsibility to be worried about people being offended by non-existent issues. You shouldn't have to private your own post because people candy read or understand narratives tbh
yeah, true, still ill private that post and explain AGAIN and better this time why I think it would be cool for Sedusa to be asexual
-asexual people are often infantalized. it's always refreshing to see asexual characters that are legitimately competent and dangerous, it's awesome! theyre always either seen, especially in fandom spaces, as "uwu soft smol innocent beans" or "completely cold and unfeeling" so it would be refreshing for Sedusa to be asexual. as she is neither of those things (kind of like how in fandom spaces the aggressive woman is usually a lesbian or the bisexual is also hypersexual- I think it's really stupid to assume someone's sexuality based on personality traits instead of you know, their attraction. your sexuality says NOTHING about your personality)
-against purity culture. on the other side of this, sometimes asexual people are seen as just pure, because they're celibate, and for whatever reason many people seem to think that sex has a moral implication, so someone that doesn't have sex must be good. Sedusa would subvert this, she is asexual, celibate, and she ISNT pure
-it didn't come out of nowhere. when looking at a characters sexuality, I pay special attention to any time that they might have shown attraction to someone (like with Ace, I said he could be attracted to women bc he called Sedusa hot (plus more) and also men because he grabbed a man's butt) but with SEDUSA... she's really cool bc she's kinda like Wario (which I love) in that her first priority? first and foremost- it's money and power. once she's reformed and doesn't steal anymore, she doesn't make any attempt to seduce ANYONE. she doesn't care about it! all she cares about is running her beauty shop. she doesn't need anyone else... the point here being, she doesn't have people fall in love with her because she likes love, she does it because she likes money
-it's subversive. it's much too easy to look at a character like Sedusa and go "she's hypersexual" but if you really look into it... she doesn't seem to care about it at all. she just uses it to manipulate people WHICH, ANON, does not mean I think asexuals are manipulative. just that Sedusa herself is manipulative, and her mode of manipulation is, usually, her sex appeal. she's just using what she's got to her advantage, like any villain. she just doesn't have guns and lasers
-it's in the spirit of the show. the whole show is just, subverting your expectations. the superheros? not even graduated kindergarten yet! the mayor? incompetent! the scientist in any other story would have been uncaring or maniacal toward his creations, but Professor Utonium never was. it only makes sense for the character built on seducing others is completely not attracted to anyone
so yeah there's my case 💪

Okay off topic but thoughts on the teen titans costumes? (Just star and raven are good i just wanna know your thoughts on them)
Honestly? I actually like them.
Like, i know a lot of people arent huge fans because they find bare skin inherently sexual *cue eyeroll here* but if you've gotten over any Western ideas about skin and modesty, i really really struggle to see how Starfire and Raven could be considered sexualised. Especially compared to well *gestures broadly at every superhero comic ever*.
And also like, if i remember right (do correct me if im not) theres not really anything within the show that specifically sexualises the girls. Not how we see in comics and the ML show. Like i dont ever remember seeing any shots or angles that really focused on and emphasised 'the sexy bits'. So like from an audience or creative pov i dont see any issues with say, putting Starfire in an objectively quite modest crop top and miniskirt, or with putting Raven in a leotard.
As far as in-universe design choices go? I think the costumes suit the girls quite nicely. Personality and combat wise i mean.
Starfire is all absurd strength and shooting lasers from her hands n shit. I can definitely see long sleeves being a fire hazard, as well as obstructing the movement of her arms and shoulders. And the miniskirt? Well, you'd be pleasantly surprised by how much mobility they allow, and, unlike tight fitting shorts, a rip isnt going to continue to spread with each movement until the skirt is useless. (This fact brought to you by my work shorts. May they rest in pieces.)
Plus we have the added bonus of characterisation via outfits. Starfire's tall boots and bits of (what i assume are) armour tell us that she's practical, while the miniskirt adds that she's also fun and feminine.
I will say that the long loose hair drives me absolutely batty. I just want to reach through the screen and put her hair in a freaking braid or something.
Raven is pretty much similar reasoning. She's not a real physical combatant so she doesnt need to concern herself much with mobility, so the cloak and tight long sleeves are allowed to stay. I'm not real impressed by her boots unfortunately, they look very soft, with not much ankle support or protection from being speared (like by stepping on nails. Not fun, i can tell you that.) I can't remember what the sole of Raven's boots look like exactly but my general impression is that her shoes are more like slippers than something you should be wearing in active combat. Idk.
But also! Another great tool for informing her character. The big hood and cloak does a great job of telling us that Raven is quite secretive and mysterious, and the transitions from hood-on to hood-off and vice versa are great indicators of a general switch in mood. Say from being closed off to opening up. Idk i just love when clothes are used for characterisation.
Originally i wasnt going to include Terra but then i just said fuck it.
With Terra you can really tell quite a lot. I dont remember it exactly and im too lazy to google, but, Terra's outfit really works with her. It's casual, practical, and kind of smacks you upside the head with her tomboy nature. But its also very clearly the kind of costume Terra put together by scrounging around. It's not a professional superhero costume designed specifically for her. It's just the kind of outfit a kid on the run would be able to put together. And i just adore that.

Hey!! I've been thinking about your httyd urban fantasy au lately and I was wondering if you could share a bit more? Like maybe about the dragon rider gang? Like Fishlegs or Astrid? Or a bit more about Snotlout and Hiccup's dynamic?
No pressure! But it's such a cool concept and this is a free pass to talk about it if you want to :D
Have a good day!!
Ahjkasg hi its rlly sweet u think abt my stupid little au !!!!
i talked about Astrid here. shes very familiar with dragons but very complacent in the exploitation of them. so she doesnt hate dragons but she doesnt love them, theyre just a means to an end for what she wants (recognition). her "romantic flight" equivalent in this au is learning that Stormly thinks of her like a friend instead of like how a pet thinks of an owner. shes the first to approach Hiccup about joining his ridiculous vigilante shit
Fishlegs and Astrid are actually friends before they meet Hiccup in this au!! Fishlegs family is in a similar situation to Astrid's; his mom deals in economic research of dragons and while Fishlegs has a different opinion on them (hes intimidated and thinks the amount of workplace injuries that occur with captive dragons isnt worth the economic gain they could hypothetically provide), he still doesnt quite reach the same respect or conclusion until Astrid and Hiccup show him Toothless and Stormfly. he doesnt approve of the vigilante stuff and will hang back and do "base operations" more than he goes out with them, but he becomes really passionate about it once they bring Meatlug back from a mission
Ruffnut and Tuffnut are completely blank slates as it comes to dragons. they kind of have the normal kid "holy fuck dragons are cool" idea but their daily life isn't involved with them at all. Ruffnut gets involved because Tuffnut shows interest in Hiccup's bullcrap once they find out about Toothless, and shes kind of like Fishlegs in the respect that shes more hesitant than someone might think, but she joins to support Tuffnut (who is really fascinated by the loser kid suddenly having a night fury). eventually they find Barf + Belch on a completely solo mission. Ruffnut had difficulty with Barf because he kind of represented "youre in this for good now" at first, while Tuffnut mainly does it for the feeling of freedom. i imagine their parents have really high expectations even though they are kind of absent and Tuffnut wants to escape that while Ruffnut is more practical
Snotlout and Hiccup are cousins and their dynamic is pretty well covered. he, Astrid, and the twins knew each other before Hiccup moved in with Snotlout. initially Snotlout thinks Hiccup is being fucking ridiculous and is afraid of getting into trouble with Spitelout, but once Astrid gets on board he starts being more willing to cooperate and then help. he and Hiccup have a brief rough patch where they're really mad at each other; Snotlout bonded with Hookfang while on a really simple rescue & release mission, which complicated it enough that they were caught by the authorities, and Hiccup got arrested (but not "found out" in the superhero sense which sounds stupid but yk what i mean. like on different charges, like trespassing or refusing to cooperate with police. which i mentioned earlier somewhere?). that leads to Stoick finding out about the vigilantism and them needing to hide Toothless for a while* and they fight with each other over that. it blows over but every once and a while Snotlout oscillates between feeling guilty and angry about it all
*(ive kinda decided that Toothless's capture was government-funded due to the threat night furies as a species pose. like watch httyd1 the potential that they have for destruction if weaponized is insane. and by releasing Toothless and befriending him, Hiccup has already done something highly illegal)
hope this satisfies ur brain ^-^

7 17 20 for dmitri....
Does your OC like their natural hair color or do they dye it? What styles do they prefer?
yes the white is his natural color LOL his family is just Like That. i highly doubt he'd ever dye it or make any drastic changes to his haircut, he's a simple man. if his sister had her way she would test all kinds of styles on him though
Does your OC have an enemy? What happened between them? Is it mutual or one-sided? Is it petty or serious? Is one party seeking revenge? Does one person want the other dead or are they content to hate them from afar?
vispi is his main "enemy" for a while and their dynamic changes. a LOT. at first its just a typical superhero/villain clash bc, she interferes with a few of his heists and robberies and then dmitri realizes she is also. his upstairs apartment neighbor. which complicates things! it doesnt really stop dmitri from terrorizing her but he does warn her to stay out of his way bc he kind of does respect her. hurting her isnt anything personal to him and he truly wishes he didnt have to, its just a necessity of the job.
he DOES also have other enemies in russia and in a handful of aus bc i just love to put this guy in situations
Has your OC ever done something terrible and lied about it? Did they run away or blame someone else for it? How long did they maintain the lie and did the truth ever come out?
dmitri never outright lies to his family about his Activities but he sure isnt gonna tell them about it either. his mom kind of knows he's involved in Some variety of crime but doesnt know the nature of it and she's not gonna ask about the details. probably bc she's too scared to find out. other than that dmitri is surprisingly a pretty honest person and he knows how to own up to the consequences of his actions. he's also not a good liar which is why he doesn't really bother coming up with any elaborate cover stories in front of his family.

standing outside your window knocking on the glass hard as fuck hand bleeding
3, 5, 12, 18, 19, 21, 33, 35 for my buddy nell bishop obvi
hello bitch (oc ask meme)
3. weapon of choice? any particular reason they chose their weapon? And here it becomes obvious that ive thought way more about nells personal life than their job as a superhero LMFAO i really like the weapon ideas shayan came up with… the ladybug shield and the little throwing stars (circles) i also think of her with some kind of derivative of the bb gun… something cute and nonlethal. most of her weaponry was developed with/by ted which explains a lot. similarly to ted she generally fights hand to hand but she probably has a few gadgets in her belt. maybe a ladybug taser
5. how do they typically dress? does their wardrobe lean more towards practicality or aesthetics? nell wears the same outfit to work every day (slacks, button down, sweatervest, tie, fingerless gloves, converse) because they found a comfortable outfit ten years ago. they tend to wear the same kind of thing casually as well… the gloves are a sensory thing so they tend to wear them pretty much whenever they arent asleep or showering lol but overall their entire wardrobe is extremely samey because i mean. He knows what he likes if it aint broke why fix it
12. how long have they been around? do you know their birthday? is their birthday the day you made them or another day? what do they think of celebrating birthdays? ……… I DONT REMEMBER? i think i came up with the first inklings pretty soon after colleen doran posted the original unused ladybug and blue beetle illustration which wassssssssss february 2023…? NOT EVEN A YEAR AGO? but i didnt start really developing them in earnest for a while after that I GENUINELY DONT KNOW i feel like theyve been around forever. if i made their birthday the day i "made" them it would have been too close to my birthday which felt weirdly indulgent so i made their canon birthday january 2nd :-) she doesnt tend to tell other people when her birthday is but isnt like Secretive about it, she just isnt a fan of huge displays
18. their opinion on lying, stealing, and killing? lying is fine if its for a reason or if its funny. in general her morals are in the service of preventing harm so stealing in the abstract is kind of neutral. not a fan of killing! you might ask then why she lives with casey, an attempted murderer. well you see 1. she didnt actually manage to do it 2. it was kind of funny
19. are they quick to anger? what sets them off? its very easy to annoy them step 1 be casey step 2 profit LMAO like with most of their emotions nell doesnt really externalise anger very obviously until it reaches a crisis point… many things that anger them! a big one is having her abilities/independence questioned… deliberately obnoxious behaviour… mouth sounds
21. their favorite place to be? he really does like his workplace… he likes being at home. being by himself in a dark quiet place is top tier
33. if applicable, how would your other characters describe them? i mean specifically the people around them. erm well not all of them are my characters but the people in her life casey: (under her breath) boring judgemental bitch (out loud) SAVE ME LADYBUG ted: she's a real bright spark :D booster: difficult to read michelle: really cool… but kind of frustrating at times! her dad: incredibly driven… just like his mother alex (middle brother): they work really hard even when people dont notice seb (youngest brother): SO COOL
35. do they ever return home? not very often. their family moved out of their childhood home after nell left so it's strange to go back to somewhere they didnt grow up

Also! C!george being able to see the multiverse through a lil window dreamXD made to show him
What does he see?
CC!george, sapnap and dream watching a football game (cc!george isnt really watching anyhow) (XD explains how everything is pacific and domestic here without wars or dumb monarchies and betrayals they all just live together and chill)
A swapped places AU where c!dream isnt a weirs puppet thing and is actually c!george who is that weird monster (that c!dream stares back and just stares confused until some weird god comes by and XD changes the universe quickly) ("who was that?" '...did i tell you im divorced?' "...loser." '...LOSER???!!')
....flowers from 1970... But its just a room with poems in the walls and the palms marked in them with that specific song playing ("...what happened here?" 'Some dimensions are good and have nice endings and some dont! Thats just how it is' "oh...not my problem anyway") (i alao dont know if you know abt the fanfic its pretty good but also quite old) (no good ending tho)
Manhunt
Mcc
Squid craft 2 (the part where george finds dream just dead as hell) (i dont even know if you even watched the event)
And well if you thought the cc!au was upsetting!
The window opens to the inside of the castle that is decorated with blue and white and c!george sitting in the throne and c!dream is just by the side of the throne with a knight kind of look just talking to him about his day
C!george gets upset and closes the window "this sucks youre an idiot and this is dumb" '...making that window is hard you know?' "I dont care leave me alone i have things to do" 'mean.' "I dont care"
....ALSO
Yess! Draculaura just starts assigning superheroes to her friends (most dont make sense thanks to her lack of knowledge in the topic) then she finds a comic where they did make batman a vampire and she just refuses to think that it isnt the principal story
Clawdeen hates Twilight
She wakes up and posts abt how much she hates it everyday for like 4 months until she finds a good book of werewolves to read
oh my gosh i forgot to answer this i’m so sorry 😭😭 i looked at it and was like “ok i’ll answer that later” and then forgot about it
WINDOW BEDTIME STORIES!!! George gets an au bedtime story POG
weirdthingC!george and actuallynormalC!dream is a cool little swap :000!! AND XD BEING DIVORCED BAHAHAHAHA
i think i remember flowers from 1970? probably? it’s a dnf fanfic right? i think my dreamteam friend told me she was reading it at one point
OK SO. I feel like the external videos, previous smps, and contests are still a part of the dsmp. At least most of them. Like, the characters are an extension of the CC and their YouTube/Twitch journey. The characters join the dsmp, and they come from different places, and those places are the series the CC is currently working on. Like they have a built in backstory.
For instance: Tommy, SMPEarth and Skyblock are canon for him. Philza, hardcore world and SMPEarth. Techno, Hypixel, MCM, SMPEarth, so on and so forth. BadBoyHalo, MunchyMC, videos with Skeppy, and MCM. And Dream, MunchyMC and Manhunts. MCC for all of these too. I gave a lot of examples just to show a lot of the different places they come from. There can ofc be more!
And I KNOW they said it wasn’t canon, but I think the Fundy marriage was canon too. Just to put into perspective how many of these things are considered canon for anyone who might be in doubt, everyone thought the Fundy proposal videos were canon until they said it wasn’t. Which obviously I didn’t listen to.
I will say, I do continue the “characters are an extension of their CC” thing with the QSMP (like the dsmp part of the character is canon in the qsmp), but with the QSMP, they knew they were making characters, so not all things really flow over the same, at least we don’t know if the dsmp is canon yet (some other old smps seem to be though), but I still headcanon that the island tried to wipe the characters memories and make them forget about important things they left behind so they wouldn’t want to leave the island. Thus, the character is still carried on, they probably just don’t know it.
Anyways, carrying on. I actually haven’t watched Squid Craft 2. I did not know that existed :0
And dw I was not saddened by the window. But like I did just sorta explain, George looking at the manhunt would be like George looking at his happy past. The knight thing’s totally an au tho.
“Why’d I get stuck with the janky old broke hobo Dream?” —c!George
Draculaura says that Ghoulia is the Flash, and Ghoulia is upset that Draculaura assigned her as the “off brand Dead Fast.”
and clawdeen WOULD hate twilight. I actually just started reading it, and it was going pretty well until the whole “dude makes girl uncomfortable but it’s ok because she actually secretly likes it!! Haha!!” thing. I feel like clawdeen would hate twilight mostly though because she sees herself in the main character, but the story reacts in such ways that are just unsatisfactory and not at all what actually happen to a girl like Bella, which Clawdeen experiences because she feels she is actually a girl like Bella and she HATES IT. She’s like, “That’s not how it works! Vampires might have all these super awesome powers, but that’s not what makes them likable!!” (as I haven’t read enough of twilight yet, I just have a hunch about this hc, so I will say my main basis for clawdeen relating to Bella is because she also has a crush on a vampire.)
And instead of a werewolf book, she actually finds the dog version of warriors.

have you seen the new batman movie? I saw a lot of parallels between the riddler and batman with tyrell and elliot and I want to know if you saw it too. feel free to ignore this message if you have genuinely no interest in batman that is totally fine lmfao, it's just that you always have really well thought out and interesting responses to your anon messages and I was wondering your thoughts on this if you had any!
thanks for the ask! i actually havent seen the new batman movie, but i feel like ive absorbed lots of info about it via cultural osmosis, so im gonna take a crack at this anyway, lol. please correct me if im off base here.
batman in general is kind of similar to elliot, although their worldviews are very different... batman is a vigilante who hunts down criminals under an anonymous alias because of childhood trauma, and elliot is the same. the difference is that elliot acknowledges more openly that he himself is also a criminal, lol, and his sense of morality isnt as black and white. despite being the protagonist, elliot isnt always particularly heroic. for example, its hard for me to imagine batman doing to anyone what elliot did to olivia. elliot is a huge believer in "the ends justify the means," to the point where by season 4, he begins to view peoples livelihoods as collateral damage in his mission. to elliot, anyone who works for "bad people" is essentially fair game -- hence why he so easily frames colby in s1e1, or sacrifices price in s4e9, or tries to cope with angelas death by convincing himself that when she began working for whiterose, the "real angela" essentially died, and dark army angela took over as some brainwashed imposter.
i think that like batman, elliots heroic deeds are often somewhat washed out by his more questionable choices. both elliot and batman have fallen so completely into their vigilante "second life" that these personas (superhero and hacker) have become their whole identities. obviously, with elliot, this is taken to the most extreme end possible, as we find out in s4 that elliot/mastermind is an alter created entirely to act out these vengeful, heroic fantasies host!elliot had. identity and morality are big themes for both batman and elliot.
in terms of tyrell and the riddler, i think the big tie-in is the theme of spectacle!! elliots vigilanteism is quiet and he revels in anonymity, whereas tyrell is narcissistic and genuinely sees himself and elliot as superior to regular humans. tyrell is very preoccupied with how other people see him, but ESPECIALLY with how elliot sees him. like mr robot says in s1e5, tyrell "cares what [elliot] thinks about him," and thats his biggest flaw. tyrell WANTS to be noticed. i think this is really emphasized with how elliot is framed in scenes with tyrell... take this one, for example. both elliot and tyrell are framed in the centre, with the camera angled slightly above elliots head, as though hes looking down on tyrell.
Tumblr media
now lets contrast that with another scene where tyrells obsession with power manifests again, this time with the e corp building looking down on him from above, and him clearly feeling the weight of his own inferiority:
Tumblr media
elliot is often framed in the position of the observer AND the superior party, even in situations where (seemingly) tyrell has the upper hand. in the conference room scene, for example, despite having been kidnapped and brought to this scary place with all these lawyers threatening him, elliot has the upper hand-- tyrell can intimidate him all he wants, but he still NEEDS elliot to say yes to his job offer, because its him who desperately wants elliot to work with him. tyrell is obsessed with getting elliots attention and approval -- think, also, of his preoccupation in s3e3 with having his suit when he goes to see elliot. "i have to look my best for him" are definitely the words of somebody whos trying too hard, lol.
the riddler is the same way. he requires batmans participation and attention, because without it, its no fun. villains only exist because they have heroes to fight them. in batman 2022, batman seems to quite literally ruin the riddlers plans simply by refusing to participate:
Batman: You think you'll be remembered? You're a pathetic psychopath, begging for attention.
The Riddler: No.
Batman: You're gonna die alone in Arkham.
The Riddler: No. No, no, no!
Batman: A nobody!
The Riddler: NO! AHHHHH! This is not how this was supposed to go! Ahhhhh! I had it all planned out! We were gonna be safe here. We could watch the whole thing together.
i would say the difference between tyrell and the riddler is that tyrell really does not seem to have a cause. i think the reason why its easier to sympathize with tyrell than other antagonists in mr robot is because hes just so damn pathetic. his obsession with attention and impressing people and being special precipitates his own downfall and makes him easily manipulated, dependent, and miserable. at least the riddler has some ideological underpinning to his actions (he wants to expose corruption in gotham) and that appears to attract followers to his cause. tyrell, however, is extremely uninspiring, because most of what we see him do is either 1) what somebody else told him to do (joanna, irving, mr robot, etc) or 2) the result of an impulsive temper tantrum (murdering sharon knowles immediately comes to mind). tyrell will never be a genuine revolutionary, because he just doesnt care. his core belief is that "power belongs to the people that take it," and this winds up being hilariously ironic, given that hes so easily controlled by others.
anyways, hopefully that was a decent answer lol. thanks for the ask, i do have loads of fun answering them!

Hey, Nikky! Happy STS! :D Hope all's well in your corner of the woods! That said, catching up with the WIPs that popped up while I was gone, and this question popped into mind and won't leave. If you took the cast of Calypso's 'verse and plopped them into Superhero World and vice-versa, what would happen?
Hi Jax! Happy STS, my corner of the woods is doing well (I’ve written words!! Words of. literal homework assistance, but they’re words and it’s sweet). Hope all is well in your bit of the woods as well
Ooh, that is a fun question!!!
Calypso would be a villain, causing chaos for the fun of it. Hades would sorta be like Query, in which he’s housing a bunch of troublemakers (Thanatos, Styx). Speaking of them, Calypso would drag Thanatos into chaos causing and Styx would be causing her own. No prompting needed. Hades would… not do a whole lot (maybe he grew up in a Super family/team with his siblings and took the fall for a mission gone bad and this is his ‘retirement’). Amphitrite would have a little business going, would have thieves and such for hire. Davy Jones would just. Be a very unlucky civilian that Calypso drags into the dark side because he like. cracked a joke in the middle of a robbery of hers or something. Leucothea’s a vigilante who helps out people when fights break out, though she still knows Calypso. And Scylla… hmm. Scylla would be a hero (and most compared to Celeste), until she loses control of her power or stumbles into her power or just. Gets sorta villanized for something and despite her attempts to fix her reputation, she falls off the bandwagon and ends up working alongside Charybdis, who runs a larger organization/is a big villain figure who has some control over smaller villains that’s country wide. One will work on the eastern side, other on the west. Didn’t put it into words super well, but they would be those not-known-except-by-name scary figures. You know what I mean.
As for the super people (well, Masks and Trust/Celeste and Vega-adjacent people) moving into Ancient Greece (sort of? Not really. Uhh— super people into a god world that is not quite Ancient Greece but a parallel version of it): Vega is an older goddess, probably like Nyx: a goddess of the night or something similar. She takes (or has?) a few smaller god(desse)s under her wing. And… vague introduction to the kids (I should do that, huh?): a knowledge/prophet goddess who sparks wars/feuds (she’d be responsible for a Cassandra situation), a god of the monsterous within the humane, a god of desperation or determination. Things like that. Anyways. She’s an older goddess, once super revered until she got bored and stepped back, let those she mentored run as they please. She takes a mortal-seeming form and bumps into another little-known goddess, Celeste, who would be… a goddess of something niche. I thought of stars but it’d be reflections or hope or something. Something small no one pays much kind to but is super present in one’s life. She’s a minor goddess only because she holds reign over a niche and she’s content (in a settled-for-this-and-like-that-I’m-helping-but-sorta-hate-it-isnt-doing-anything-to-change-it way) with the few sacrifices and pleas she gets. She’s content, but not all that happy. Bottom line, you know.
That was fun to answer! Thanks for the question :D

also i hate most things where the final challenge is like well batman now you must give up your mask mostly bc it plays out so cliche and imo is such a weird stopping point for batman's story (esp if it's a villain who i dont think would care but props to ak for making me believe that jonathan has enough reason to care his hope v fear thing was actually good) but ak did such an interesting followup for post game seeing everyone close to batman react, esp w the high security lock up people i find it interesting that most people take it as batman = bruce wayne (seen a lot w everyone at the gcpd who tell him theyll just stick w batman or keep it to lighthearted jokes) and its jonathan's whole thing of giving face to the faceless and bringing down the idol-hood of a hero/hope (his argument for it is slightly diff than what i would go for though. i see it less as "now you have a face to blame, to put failure to" and more of "giving batman an identity takes him away from being a hero/urban legend/myth and turns him into something lesser which is a man" which i think was kind of touched on but eh. second doesnt work as well when hes long established and people know hes real which is another reason i think later timeline stuff is shakier for me depending on how it plays out) but im interested in the viewpoints of the majority batman = bruce wayne vs how a very small minority takes it, both being the people who knew batman most intimately, joker and harvey, who both make a statement about "wearing a mask" joker is harder to pinpoint in this game bc he is just a mind thing and most of his stuff is said to just be edgy or mean (but you can also argue that it's just bruce's own thoughts gone through some twisted joker way of saying them) but even still i think he makes a clear distinction (even if incorrect) that between bruce wayne and batman, there is a mask and an act put up & that theres freedoms in one that arent available w the other (even if he means it in accordance to violence) i think harvey's is really very interesting, idk as much for his dialogue to batman (aka bruce wayne) vs his to just batman, but his lines of saying "i didnt make a promise w bruce wayne on that roof" etc really sticks w me & the many diff implications w it & he goes out to say he understands what it means to wear another face, which goes into stuff arkhamverse never really explored which is the personal disconnect that bruce has between himself & himself + which one is more genuine, batman doesnt feel fear while bruce wayne does (ashose) -> who can afford to be emotionally vulnerable, who can do more good and who is currently doing more good (imposter) + i think it's such an interesting facet of being a superhero (at least for some) of being which one is who i pretend to be and which one is really me, which ik isnt as deep as ak takes it but to go back to it im just very interested in how harvey points it out that his friend on the rooftops wasnt bruce that he didnt give all this up for bruce that this trio didnt include bruce & how ultimately he wasnt let down by bruce wayne bc there is a distinction, and he, more than anyone else, would understand the distinction
