the church in the monastery of the cross in jerusalem, palestine.
the monastery was originally consecrated in the fourth century under the instruction of roman emperor constantine the great, while palestine was under roman rule. some years later, it was given to kartlian (basically roman georgia) king mirian III after the conversion of his kingdom to christianity. it remained a georgian orthodox monastery until 1685, when the then heavily-indebted georgians sold it to the greek orthodox patriarchate of jerusalem.
its murals retain both georgian and greek inscriptions. in the last picture, georgian text is on the left, and greek on the right.

PSA: when an indigenous person says their people have 'always' been a place, they are trying to illustrate their emotional/spiritual/cultural/etc stake in the land since TIME IMMEMORIAL and when you say "well actually all humans came from Africa :)" you look like an asshole. for multiple reasons <3

fyi i think your use of the phrase "time immemorial" in a dismissive sense may have some unintended colonialist implications to some readers, in my region "time immemorial" refers to a new curriculum that teaches indigenous sovereignty through a decolonizing model that holds space for oral histories. it took me a minute to realize you probably werent referring to that, it made the whole post read in that context like one of the "social facts" you're critical of is the sovereignty of indigenous people on indigenous lands. idk how many people would see that but thought you might wanna know
huh! i've never heard of this usage of the phrase (& was just using it in the sense of the generic legal term meaning 'there is no specific precedent for this because it Has Always Been So' as has historically been used in english law). but i mean that said, like--i don't think that claims to indigenous sovereignty do, should, or can substantively rest on 'time immemorial' (as in, the oral tradition stretching into prehistory). which is not to denigrate the value of that oral tradition in and of itself as a form of historical record but to say that i think the actual case for indigenous sovereignty should be built off the much more recent facts of colonialism (for the same reason that, for example, the israeli claim to indigeneity is specious and the palestinian claim is correct--because 'indigeneity' is comprised of a specific relationship to colonialism)

everyone getting on Emily for saying Night Yorb out of character only for Brennan to remind them that they themselves are not in the fiction, reminds me of when the Oxventurers were all in character whispering and Jane spoke normally, prompting everyone to shush her until she reminded them that they themselves are not in the fiction

I haven't finished reading In The Lives Of Puppets yet but like, it feels like that bridge between his earlier books and his newer ones, since it feels like he's doing a rebrand cause you've got The House in the Cerulean Sea, which was the first book I read by him that didn't have explicit queer (supernatural) porn in it, and so far this feels like, it feels like he'd written it in his true unhinged voice before handing it to a professional publisher that probably won't have published the breaking bad/supernatural crossover that was Into This River I Drown.
And like, so fair it slays. I just wonder if Victor is gonna fuck the robot. I hope he doesn't cause that would be weird, but I do wonder if he does. Its gonna be a ride.

Hi! I wanna ask How would the other characters react with eos! reader? Like how venti have a hot Big girlfriend?(cofcofkaeyacofcof)
I accidentally rambled-
Anyway please donate to my kofi account sjsjsj it'd help me a lot with my tuition-
You actually meet Mika first on your way to the city from Dornman Port, pretending to be a lost traveller who has never set foot in the capital city. Mika, though intimidated by your 12-foot tall ass and your sons (they're too beautiful to be real humans...), was a great help in guiding you. He quickly warmed up to you, feeling sorry for misjudging you to be someone malicious when you're so kind to him. He loves your motherly attitude, but he can't take Nemo's pranks and teases so he doesn't get tl interact with you often. Then he gets whisked away by Grandmaster Varka-.
Acting Grandmaster Jean was a little suspicious of you at first, but her suspicions immediately goes out the window when you single-handedly solved Mondstadt's millenia old problem; Ursa the Drake. She immediately tries to recruit you to join the knights, even offering to place you in a high position. You figured it's to strengthen the Knights' political power and to be able to easily fight back against the oppressing of the Fatui, but you dismissed her proposal and joined the Favonius church instead, much to her disappointment.
Diluc obviously was wary of you, so he took it upon himself to secretly tail you around just to see what you were up to. You were aware of it and just slightly peeved, so you moved your residency from the city to Springvale. Sure, it's a hassle going to and fro everyday just to get to the church and to get necessary groceries, but it sure did the trick of tiring Diluc out and leaving you the hell alone. Besides, you were also quite friendly. And so strong. Diluc can remember how effortless you twisted Ursa's head. And you did it so slow too... as if you enjoyed the drake's futile struggles and writhing in pure agony. His approval of you was cemented when you saved his father's life as well as understanding why you didn't join the knights when even Varka was practically on his knees asking you. Whenever you visit the tavern and he's there, he cant help it but be more aware of your presence. Your laugh has a sultry undertone and he could feel his heartbeat more keenly. Just as he's finally resolved to court you, he watches Venti kneeling down to ask for your hand in marriage...
Kaeya couldn't help but whistle at your sheer height. He, too, was wary of you so he watched you interact with people. But even though he's suspicious of you, it's not to the extent of Diluc. Like Diluc? My dear brother, that person is blind. What can a blind person do?
Well, slay a drake alone with a two star second-rate spear, apparently.
His guard immediately goes up at that. But even if you're hostile, how could he ever hope to defeat someone who could kill a dragon with ease? Well, he can always assess your strength by sparring with you. Sadly, you handed his ass back to him. You beat him so hard that he became enamored with you. How did a blind person become such a good fighter?Who taught you? Kaeya befriended you in hopes of finding out your weakness so thaf he can stop you should you become a threat. You treated him with nothing but kindness, and when he was banished by Diluc, you were there to nurse him back to help. You held him close as he cried for the sworn brother and his father's trust that he lost.
And he fell in love with you. Oh, he fell so hard for you.
He kept you at arm's length emotionally. You didn't say anything, but he could feel like you understand. He flirted with you occasionally. You respond playfully sometimes, and Kaeya couldn't help his heart from skipping a few beats when you flash him a rare smile, relishing the jealous glare he gets from Diluc.
...And just when both he and Diluc agreed to finally settle their romantic fight to win your heart by courting you officially, Venti arrives and steals you effortlessly.
Just like that.
"I'm waiting for a bard in green," Kaeya remembered what you said to him once when he was tipsy and you were in his company.
So it was Venti?
Diluc and Kaeya lost both the battle and the war before it even began.

"The Supernatural fandom invented X trope," this, "The Buffy fandom created Y shorthand," that, wrong. You're all wrong. Whatever trope you're talking about was invented by the Star Trek fandom or imported from either computer programming or preexisting literature by the Star Trek fandom. There is nothing new under the sun. Except for the Star Trek fandom.

Just...Nocturnal reflections on your favorite characters) ))
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are not many facts and philosophical reflections :D \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ We are aware of that… Sauron, terrified by the might of the Valar, assumed the most beautiful form, bowed his knee and repented of his sins, asking their forgiveness and mercy. However, the Valar had no right to forgive him and wanted to take Eru Iluvatar with them to Valinor for judgment. Sauron was afraid of this fate - he considered that he would be in the position of a slave for the rest of his life. Given the power he had experienced under Melkor, this scenario did not suit him, so Sauron escaped and disappeared into Middle-earth. .\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\ Here it is interesting to reflect on whether he considered himself to be someone "who deserves forgiveness and repentance"? What could he have thought of himself at that time? Why did he end up hiding for a long time? Maybe.. Is there anything else besides fear or humiliation in front of the higher gods? Maybe he really believed, but not that he could be forgiven, but that it was too late for him.. Yes, in the series rings of power in the final episode, when it turned out that Halbrand was a dark mayar, and in the illusion he created on the raft, he was trying to convince Galadriel that he was ready to weave something light into all his dark nature, saying: -"When Morgoth was hurled into the void, I felt as if a mighty fist had opened my neck. And then, in the silence of that primordial dawn, I felt the light of the one again, and that I could receive redemption if I healed all that I had helped destroy." Ahem, of course, this is 93% likely to be manipulation, because Sauron himself is shown in the series as a very, very not scary guy. Rather, the series wanted to show him at a time when he himself was really hesitating.. Is he worthy of such condescension?. and a new beginning for yourself… After all, we all know how sad things turned out for him, which path he chose. And here it is probably worth saying one thing - that for a considerable coexistence Sauron lost quite a few battles, but HE LOST the MOST IMPORTANT ONE TO HIMSELF BECAUSE HE succumbed to temptation, did not believe that he could have done much more by turning his power into good. \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\I remember the phrase: -- I tried to change - and I changed. And it didn't matter. BECAUSE even if the god of lies, deceit and evil ceases to be the god of lies, he will still remain the god of evil. . For as long as I can remember, I've always lived in the twilight. Oh, twilight is the boundary between day and night. Those who are afraid of the darkness rush to hide from it, while others merge with it breaking loose. The departing sun turns the world crimson, while the shadows of the night become deeper and darker. There comes a time when everyone on the other side of the border can easily cross it. Once upon a time, people believed that EVIL SPIRITS and MONSTERS appeared at this time of day. "Maybe I am an evil spirit, don't notice that dead, and I'm wandering around creating hell in a circle"???

okay, let me go insane about Time Lord Immemorial for a second and discuss the UNIT Liv Dating controversy! Spoilers below
Just finished listening and loved it! Probably best one so far actually and adore the fact the gave us another rhyme like they did with Zagreus for the last big anniversary.
More importantly, let's talk about Liv though! For a start, brilliant role for her, even if it didn't turn out that she was meant to be the "true friend", it was brilliant and her dynamic with the Lumiat, particularly at the beginning, gave me such strong consistent writing from the time Missy spent with Helen in Day of the Master!
Also, the fact Liv got picked up by Helen and the Doctor at the end - even though it was off screen - made me so happy, the way she calls for Helen... anyway... leaves the question of when this is in her timeline and that's actually tricky!
The Doctor does say to Liv to give his best to Helen (yay) and Tania (meh) to which Liv replied "Helen and who?" and the Doctor gets all sheepish (which I hated cause any mention of their relationship just gets me annoyed but that's just me). So it's clearly meant to be set some time during either Doom Coalition or Ravenous and let's be honest: There isn't a great lot of time for that actually! Both sets are sooo linear and tightly packed, there isn't really time? Certainly not in DC, they're moving from place to place and in Ravenous, the only tiny sliver would be between Salzburg and Seizure but even then... I always got the sense they went there straight away after Salzburg. And after that the Eleven is with them and it's a straight line of events until they crash in London.
Anyway my point it: New head canon acquired, Stranded never happened!!! Or what if this is meant to be set after Stranded and Liv doesn't remember Tania for other reasons? Anyway, either way, I'm running with it and there is nothing you can do about it! Time for more fix its!!!!!
All in all, loved the episode!
