if you were to summarise sirius' personality and character traits, how would you do it?

hi hi hi! so sorry for long this took but okay, so, let’s do this.

so, his CORE trait for me will always be loyalty, hands down. i once waxed poetic about sirius’ devotion to the potters to my friends for like, half an hour straight (one of them actually teared up). the way he talks about james even after so many years, how his first instinct is always to look out for harry, how everyone talked about him & j even when they believed he was the traitor—all of it just really drives home how he gives all of himself to someone when he decides to. if someone’s his person then he’ll do whatever it takes for them (if you’re not, tho? ur lucky if u even get a look in ur direction)

he’s also very competent. he was probably brought up as a pampered heir, with access to all the resources his little heart desired, so coupled w his innate ability/potential/aptitude, it becomes a deadly combination. he uses logic to work through things, prides himself on his intelligence, and probably wouldn’t like hanging out with people who can’t atleast match him in some sense (so laziness/incompetence grates badly).

as a corollary, he’s also pretty arrogant, in that casual sense that old money people are ykwim? he’s had the world on a silver platter his entire life, and even when he’s cut off from it, it’s still a part of him. there’s also the fact that he’s got a lot going for him—looks, power, smarts wise—and that just adds to it. so it can be off putting or it can be hot or both, but he has a superiority complex and he doesn’t exactly hide it. less interaction with the plebs, the better for him.

irreverence and dark humor!!! sirius copes using morbid jokes and making people uncomfortable; he has slight control issues and this way, he makes sure everyone’s always on their toes. it’s also like,,,a way to kind of gauge how others will react to him based on how they deal w his humor. bc he’s not sunshine and roses, right? and he doesn’t want anyone treating him like it or expecting him to be so. and in a way, their reactions to his jokes correlated to their degree of acceptance for him.

intense. when it comes to things he likes, he’s very passionate about it, almost with a single minded focus. and it can get A Lot. he operates in a lot of extremes, right? so either 0 or 100 and this comes across in the way he interacts with people, the level of interest he shows to things, and how much effort he puts in, if it’s His Thing, then he won’t leave a stone unturned but if he doesn’t care? then he will not give a single shit

Hey! I love tcba a lot and Mariko is a fantastic character. I just wondered if there was a physical description for her floating around somewhere? I get a very vague picture from how she is written and how other characters perceive her. But aside from “dark brown/bronze hair, usually braided and tidy, probably fairly pretty (?), girl…” I got nothing for her on my head. I ask specifically because I’d really like to try doodling some fanart for her, or find some online somewhere, but that hard to do when I cant actually picture her very well.

If not describing her outright is a preference of yours though, then I completely understand too. Sometimes a lack of POV character description helps with reader immersion and adds to a story.

Just figured I would ask before I went off half-cocked and drew something that doesn’t suit who Mariko is.

and there isn't so much of a physical description in the fic, i guess? i put in smaller details throughout, but i'm so burned by the 'my black hair and purple eyes' descriptions of old that i shy from it very strongly haha. it feels very self-indulgent, but i can give it a go now 💪

so we're looking brown hair, which is almost always braided in some fashion for practicality's sake. (i find having hair in my face super annoying, but also in a medical setting that's unsanitary.) for most of the fic it's a braided updo of some kind, but her starter shippuden look has a side-braid that's a little more abt form than function. it's also pretty long? bottom of the ribs in length. brown eyes (at least pre- eyeball shenanigans lmao), paler skin but not sasuke pale and def not sai pale lmao, square-ish to round-ish face shape, strong jaw. and dog teeth!

short-to-average before she hit her growth spurt (which would have been the start of the fic, so she was basically the same height as naruto and sasuke), and here is where i drop her current height as 178cm. based on some of the height charts i've found for shippuden, she's taller than all of her peers, which i think is hilarious. sadly it won't last forever. in terms of her current build, think sprinter.

accessories/clothes: all black all the time, except for when something is gray lol. those mesh shirts p much always, fingerless gloves. otherwise you can kind of go nuts, i've got her in tons of outfits. shippuden has the bell earring, which is the bell test bells, hanging from one ear, that she uses to cast auditory genjutsu.

#this is funny because i have so little of their relationship defined in comparison to Gioia and Benedictus #but 🥺🤌🏻 thinking about isaac losing his whole family and fighting like hell to get his sister back.. it's so 😭 #but once he gets her back she's painfully quiet. always looking over her shoulder. and simmering with anger! #i think he struggles to reconcile the past version of her + her present self. and how to connect with her through all the muck 🤔 #OH.... WAIT i figured it out! just like regular bennie and gioi (fun fact. i realized her name doesn't really shorten nicely just now lol) #i think they build that strong underlying connection because isaac invests attention and care into maggie's music. he shows up to all her #recitals ykwim!.. it's a little different from B+G because isaac isn't maggie's stand-in parent for their neglectful parents. #he functionally Is maggie's parent. but I think Maggie still takes away the same love from it as gioia‚ for different but similar reasons. #I think this is so important for her too because it is. Very Difficult for Maggie to make friends because she's so shaken up.. #i feel like bennie would try to get her to go therapy but she'd either refuse on the basis of not trusting authority anymore? OR‚ just like #kat‚ they'd tell her her experiences weren't real... in any case‚ music is maggie's Only outlet. so isaac taking interest and supporting #her in that endeavor‚ when she has very little else‚ would mean a lot to her. i think this all adds a level of 😢 to isaac and vergil's #relationship too because. originally isaac just didn't like vergil due to the whole underground rebellion schtick. that's what got his and #maggie's parents killed. BUT since Magdalena literally had no friends once she came home‚ I think Isaac is really overjoyed when she and #vergil strike up a friendship‚ since this is before Vergil's realized his true nature- the order is a collaborative thing between the two #of them after all. so at first Isaac is glad that his sister finally has a friend. and‚ just like in their future‚ Vergil helps Magdalena #grow into herself and come out of her shell. so isaac likes Vergil in the beginning‚ is grateful for him! plus V's his bosses/sponsor's kid #so there's a nice little 😊 there too. BUT THEN magdalena starts helping vergil remember things - dante - and they start #creating the Order‚ and i think Isaac feels this Great Dread. because vergil is maggie's only friend. vergil saved her! #but the things magdalena gets up to with vergil will get them killed in the future.
