why waiting on a miracle is one of my favorite (and one of the most underrated) encanto songs:

So this song in my humble opinion is one of the most under appreciated songs from the movie so I’m here to give it some appreciation! (Also the irony of the song being about being ignored and overlooked and that’s exactly what happened)

So waiting on a miracle is the classic “disney I want song” but to me this song is so much more than that. One thing that sticks out to me immediately is the fact unlike most I want songs, mirabel isn’t singing about wanting more than she already has shes singing about something she lacks but SHOULD have already. From the title most people gathered that she wants a magical gift like the rest of her family and whilst that is true I find it profound that it’s not the magic for the sake of magic she wants. It’s the appreciation from her family. All she wants is to contribute and fit in and she feels the only way she can do that is if she gets a gift. It’s also important to note unlike most I want songs mirabel doesn’t get *exactly* what she wants at the end which she mentions is a miracle. She does however end up getting her ultimate goal which is the acceptance and she doesn’t need a miracle to do that. Also with the title being “waiting on a miracle” a miracle is rare it’s thought to be something almost impossible or not even real. So for mirabels I want song to be about this shows that even she herself is aware it’s literally an impossible ask but she’s just dreaming of the possibilities if she got something as rare as a miracle.

I also found the instrumental quite genius as some have already pointed out all the madrigal songs are in 4/4 time… except this one. Waiting on a miracle is in 3/4 time as yet another subtle way to show she’s out of place. as lin manuel himself said “she’s literally out of beat with the rest of her family” so thanks for that lin the song was already sad enough but you just had to do that👍

also congratulations to mirabel for being one of the few disney characters to actually say when they aren’t ok “I’m not fineeee” I know that seems minuscule but it’s so refreshing to hear a character actually express that they are feeling negative emotions and it’s ok to express that. Especially since bottling up emotions is so common nowadays it’s a good message for the next generation <3

also waiting on a miracle kinda sorta predicts the whole movie? “I would move the mountains, make new trees and flowers grow” “I would heal whats broken show this family something new” she ended up achieving all of that in the movie’ 1. The mountains split when the house was collapsing. 2. She helped isabela discover what else she could do thus making new trees and flowers grow. 3. She basically healed the entire family which is what was broken and she showed them all they are enough without gifts! So that’s just a nice little bit of foreshadowing.

Ok now back to the sad stuff! in the lyric “I would heal whats broken” turns out she’s not referring to the entire family but herself. She views herself as broken because she didn’t get a gift and she wants to fix herself 💔 another lyric to note is “cant keep down the unspoken invisible pain” a lot of people talk about how inconsiderate the madrigals are towards mirabel but the thing is they don’t realize how it effects her. We know she can put on a hell of an act (see family madrigal song) and she herself refers to her pain as “invisible” she’s hiding it from everyone so they don’t realize how badly she’s hurting because she puts on the whole optimistic act. So another way the movie demonstrates the communication issues within the family.

And how can I forget mirabel literally telling herself at the beginning “dont be upset or mad at all” she’s quite literally telling herself to not feel those things that she’s “totally fine” I also love the fact the music is in the tune of “the family madrigal” up until she says “I’m not fine” I just thought that was a cool detail!

I’ve seen people complain about “open your eyes” x3 because it doesn’t get any louder or higher it just stays the same. Well there’s actually a reason for that! the song is called waiting on a miracle, mirabel is stuck in that position. She’s stuck waiting. It’s also important to note that the visual of her begging to her abuela to “open her eyes” and not being noticed implies that she’s been trying for a long time to be noticed but she keeps being stuck.

Also shoutout to Stephanie beatriz for the amazing acting because I could FEEL the emotion and the passion. and yes I know it’s because she’s in labour but I also believe even if she wasn’t in labour the song would still sound emotional as stephanie is a really great actress! I believe in an interview she stated she wanted to perform this song like it’s the first time mirabel is expressing these feelings to herself. Basically yeah that’s true she had been lying to herself for a decade and finally she decides to admit to herself she’s not fine she’s not happy and she wants a change. The voice crack on “I’m not fine” is actually heartbreaking and this is the moment her facade breaks entirely, and I love the vocal cry she does on “longing to shine like all of you shine” it’s just these little vocal details that add so much to the song and make it so powerful

I’ve also seen people complaining this song isn’t “belty” enough but it’s just not that type of song! mirabel is stuck in her position and if you notice in a lot of Disney movies once it reaches the climax of the i want song the protagonist comes to a decision of sorts. Take “how far I’ll go for example” she decides she’s going to sail beyond the reef and the music climaxes, she also has the triumphant high note at the end. Waiting on a miracle unlike how far I’ll go is NOT a triumphant song. The music does climax but only to emphasize mirabels false hope as she’s saying all the things she would do.

with the high note I firmly believe that there’s only one significant high note at the end for a particular reason. Like I said above usually high notes in Disney songs symbolize achievement or a sense of strength found. Mirabels high note has the opposite effect. She’s quite literally begging for a miracle in desperation only to realize she’s wishing for a fantasy. “Am I too late for a miracle” is the line the song ends on and the visual is important here too. We see the fireworks fade away and mirabel is left standing alone in the dark because it was all in her mind. (Looking at you “mirabels gift is time stopping” theorists)

So yeah I find this song to be quite unique and raw for an I want song and I think the “vent” aspect of it is what makes me appreciate it even more. It’s not sugar coated. To quote stephanie beatriz herself: “real, human, imperfect, yearning to belong and hoping for something beyond what she sees in herself: an expression of hope and fear, all wrapped in teen angst.”

So uh go stream waiting on a miracle because it’s a great song 👍(also yes this rant is a mess I’m terrible at articulating my feelings on songs but it’s also just for fun I’m like not a professional lmao)

Ooh! Good one. Quickly, I have to share this story because I love Encanto. Jessica Darrow (The voice of Luisa) did a virtual celeb visit at the children’s hospital that I work at. A couple employees got to ask her a question (I was lucky and got picked!) I asked her what power she would want from the movie and she said she wanted the power to talk to animals. Like, I love that for her. Anyway, one of the kiddos asked her to sing Surface Pressure and she had them sing it with her and I thought I was going to cry (it meant so much to the kid! T^T) I love Encanto sm. Now, on to the ask!

Alcina:

She can tell that the song is a bop, but 3 problems: She don’t know what it’s from, she don’t know who Bruno is, and she don’t know how long she can keep listening to Y/N sing “A seven-foot frame, rats along his back” (That’s their favorite part and they just sing it over and over) Please, Y/N. Vampire Mommy has a headache. Knock it off.

Donna:

When Y/N gets to the part that Isabella sings, they always insist that the character reminds them of Donna because she can control plants (And is fucking gorgeous, but I digress). Donna sort of understands what Y/N is getting at, but she’s never seen the movie. Y/N makes it a point to not only watch the film with Donna a few times, but also lay out an entire damn character analysis of Isabella so the doll maker can get a better picture. Donna’s too polite to say anything, but in her head she thinks Y/N is a complete idiot… easy to love though…

Miranda:

Miranda is done with Y/N’s bullshit. Seriously Y/N, Miranda kidnapped a baby, broke her into fucking pieces and has literally killed thousands of people… Either sleep with one eye open or quit singing “I associate him with the sound of falling sand” with weird intensity on repeat. It’s for your own good.

Bela:

Bela likes music. Like, a lot. She studies it. Like, a lot. But the thing is, she primarily listens to classical and opera. She doesn’t know what to do with a catchy Pop Salsa tune. Like, what meter is this song in? How many styles have been incorporated? Is that polyphony she hears? (What a nerd oh my goddd) Y/N just wants her to enjoy it without getting caught up in the theory of it all… Maybe with time she’ll get better at doing that?

Update: She’s currently ripping her hair out trying to analyze the song. Y/N hasn’t slept in days ‘cause she won’t shut up about her research… And that’s what you get for being a nuisance all the time, Y/N XD

Cassandra:

Cassandra is a logical person. She sees a problem? (Like Y/N singing at the top of their lungs) She fixes it. Y/N better not complain. Cass originally wanted to cut out their tongue, but Dani suggested she try this first. Honestly, Y/N is beating the odds on how they’ve been able to survive this long… maybe they should go out and buy a lottery ticket… Or go stand on top of the castle to see if they can get struck by lightning.

Daniela:

Nobody screeches Encanto songs harder than Dani. The noise level gets so loud in the castle when Y/N and Dani sing together that Alcina throws them in the dungeon for a few hours to let them both get it out of their systems. They always end up having brutal sex once they’re down there though… Alci learned that the hard way. One time she walked in and saw Y/N kissing their way up Daniela’s body to the rhythm of “Bruno no, no” while Dani sang, called them a hoe and spit on them… These two nasty.

oh no i'm sorry for causing you pain lmao! love you!! thanks for the ask!

so i don't watch disney that often, and i need to caveat this by saying i have not yet seen the new little mermaid and i desperately want to! so i'm going to answer this ask with my favourite 5 disney movies from childhood (because it's more unhinged). also, i haven't seen so many of the new disney movies incl. moana, frozen, encanto etc. i know i'm behind! i hope you don't mind!

1. the lion king 2: simba's pride (1998) - it's no coincidence that my favourite animal is a lion, and it wasn't until the lion king sequel that my obsession with big cats became fully realised. now, i hear you ask: 'lola? why would your favourite movie be a direct to video sequel?' WELL. my parents didn't watch a lot of tv when i was young, and we didn't get a vcr player until dvd's were just about to make them obsolete. but the one vcr i had was lion king 2 and i used to take it to my grandparents house like once a week and watch it. i watched it so many times the tape went funny. i could literally recite this movie, and i haven't watched it in YEARS. ALSO it doesn't have an elton john slapper but it does have: he lives in you, not one of us and that zira's lullaby which i can't get out of my head now. certified bangers. don't knock it 'til you try it.

2. the lion king (1994) - i don't know if i even have to explain this. the first seventeen times (approx.) i watched this movie i had to hide in the scary parts because it's so good but also i was probably like 4 and didn't understand that movies are the same every time you watch them. kickstarted the obsession with lions. scar's be prepared song is liked on my spotify.

[interlude for a controversial opinion: i don't like toy story. don't come for me.]

3. lady and the tramp (1955) - a classic movie for a dog lover (not JUST a cat lover, turns out i just love animals). i used to be completely obsessed with how cute lady was and i wanted a dog called lady SO BAD. the spaghetti scene is so iconic. lady's sidekicks are so funny. the pound puppies make me cry SOMEONE ADOPT THEM!!! this movie made my parents regret ever letting me borrow something from the video store because i wouldn't stop harassing them for a dog.

4. the incredibles (2004) - still fucking pissing myself at this movie like why did they make the mom have such a dump truck booty??? the dad is hilarious. the kids are lowkey annoying but i do like them. frozone is my favourite character: 'HONEY, WHERE IS MY SUPERSUIT??!'

5. the parent trap (1998) - lindsay fucking lohan made me want to get my ears pierced so bad and i only chickened out like five times before i finally got them done. this movie made me wanna be a twin. i kept giving my sister sideways looks and questioning whether we could pull it off (spoiler: we couldn't).

Top 5 Best Films of 2021

I promised a top 5 of 2021 and here it is. Severely delayed, I know, but I’ve been trying to do other things with life and the days just got away from me. There will also be a More button on this status but I’d really appreciate if you guys gave the entire post a shot and not just scroll away. Cheers! Anyway, here it is, with the general theme of “yeah, this surprised me too!”:

5. Another Round (Druk)

Very dry, darkly funny Danish drama which manages to condemn as well as celebrate the drinking culture that seems to have a grip on North Europe as a whole, which is kind of interesting. Fun fact: the original title roughly translates to ‘Binge-Drinking’, something as blunt as the film itself.

4. Malignant

The kind of film made by someone who said “hey, my last film made you $1bn, can I have some money to do the thing I REALLY want to do?”. Basically an hour and a half of batshittery improved by a very divisive twist that [REDACTED] and I enjoyed very much.

3. The Suicide Squad

The one film I definitely saw coming with regards to it being on here. It’s exactly what one would expect from a James Gunn movie: dark comedy, people literally having a blast, a soundtrack consisting of songs one hasn’t heard since they were a teenager (looking at you, “Whistle For The Choir”). Can also confirm that it is just as good seeing it sober and in IMAX as it is seeing it drunk in standard definition.

2. West Side Story

Absolutely thrilled to have this here considering my attitude towards this film since seeing the teaser in May. Everyone fits into their characters as comfortably as if they are regular performers, and it manages to define itself as being an adaptation without caving into the ’61 adap and being its own beast. Highlight is 100% Rita Moreno singing “Somewhere”, which absolutely destroyed me. It would probably be number 1 were it not for the guy who played Tony, whose name I don’t want to say in case he materialises in my living room and starts mauling “Something’s Coming” in front of me or some shit.

And now, the honourable mentions (which were surprisingly hard to pick) in no particular order:

In the Heights: Did slightly drag over the last half hour or so, and I cared more about the secondary romance than the main one. However, god DAMN is the songwriting tight, the camerawork fluid and coherent, and the one-two of “Paciencia y Fe” and “Alabanza”… whoof.

Annette: It, uh, sure is a film. I don’t know how to talk about it without sounding like I’m giving it backhanded compliments.

Candyman: A beautifully shot gem which, like 2018’s Halloween, took a risk in being a belated sequel. However, it also has a solid cast, the themes were well-executed, and the shadow puppetry was devastating. The cut to the scene with the girls in the bathroom was hilarious, too.

Encanto: Lin-Manuel Miranda’s had a fucking good year, hasn’t he?

And finally, top of the list…

1. Dune

I enjoyed it a LOT more than I expected, and not reading the book beforehand didn’t hinder it. Great cast, great music, and meme-able, which is always a good thing. The pacing was also even and the visuals beautiful. Very Villeneuve, very much what I imagine reading the book is like. And between this and Call Me By Your Name (which I watched when ill with Covid), I’ve come to the conclusion that watching something in which Timothée Chalamet has a prominent role is stressful because PLEASE can somebody feed him? Please?? Thanks.

And that concludes the top 5 of 2021. I’m not doing a full-on bottom 5 because I’m exhausted by negativity, but I’ll just do a summary here: Halloween Kills exists, Spider-Man: No Way Home & The Matrix Resurrections were let-downs, Escape Room: Tournament of Champions was annoying and unnecessary, and Old made me want to punch a fucking wall.

Three ships: Lets see...narrow it down to three...hmmm...

Spideypool. Don't judge me, they're precious little cinnamon buns and deserve good things. I suppose I have to state why I like them, huh? I like the back and forth with these two, they're sassy little bastards and they know it, while not shying away from the heavier stuff. They're hopeless but they compliment each other nicely.

2) Stolitz. I will go down with this ship. I love them. I need them to be happy. They're both going through hell (ha, literally!) and they need to work through some stuff but it's obvious that there's a real connection between them and if you ask me, they need each other. I also relate to Blitzo a fair bit so I want to see him happy...

3) Merthur. The Merlin fandom is the once and future fandom. Never let it die. WE WILL RISE AGAIN, STRONGER! *ehem* got a little carried away there...been watching a liiittle too much JackSepticEye content I think xD I don't think I need to explain my love for these two dorks, do I?

I have many, many, many more ships I could mention but it said three...so...three.

First ever ship: Jeeeeeeez, we're going back a fair few years 'ere, lads. Christ, what was my first ship...? ... Oh! Probably Zoisite x Kunzite and/or Haruka x Michiru from Sailor Moon (1992)... Ooor Tori x Julian from Cardcaptors (1998) (Sorry, English dub names). Not sure who I shipped first, I was like...seven at the time.

Last Song: That I listened to or that's maddeningly playing non-stop in my brain, because those are two different questions.

Last song I listened to was probably... "Soldier, Poet, King" by The Oh Hellos.

As for agonising earworms, there's been a lot of Christmas songs playing recently and every time I think "Oh Gods this is annoying" my brain, oh-so-helpfully goes "Annoying!? I have lots of those songs!" and proceeds to play them over the top of the one that was initially playing in my head. This morning I had "Driving Home for Christmas" by Chris Rea competing with "We Don't Talk about Bruno" from Disney's Encanto (which I love, don't get me wrong, but last time I got it stuck in my head it was there for three weeks!)

Last Movie: "Goodnight Mister Tom" (1998) ...what? It's a classic. If you haven't seen it, you should give it a watch, it's very wholesome.

Currently Reading: Well lets see now I currently have... *counts* ...fourteen? Fifteen! Fifteen AO3 tabs currently open, aside from that, I have bookmarks in no less than 10 books on my shelves...I wish I had the executive function and/or attention span to read the things I desperately want to finish. I got new books for Christmas too... *sobs in bookworm*

Currently Watching: Lucifer (2016) - Season 3 Critical Role Campaign 2 - Episode...46...46? Damn I need to catch up... Welcome to Nightveil - Episode 52 Willow (2022) - Episode 4 Aaand I have eleven YouTube tabs open right now... (my poor laptop)

Currently Consuming: Unholy amounts of leftover Christmas chocolate...please...someone take these away from me.

Currently Craving: Something savoury, A thousand year nap, A deep-pressure hug, To re-watch nostalgic animé: Digimon Adventure, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z etc. More energy to do things on my to-do list...

I love how the lyrics of Dos Oruguitas show that the mountains around the Encanto needed to crack open. The house needed to fall down. Because when showing abuela Alma's story, the song says:

Vienen milagros, vienen crisálidas

This translates to:

Miracles are coming, chrysalises are coming

The song also refers to Alma and Pedro as oruguitas, “little caterpillars”. Their miracle is a chrysalis because what they need in that moment is safety in a moment of trauma, fear, and usnafety. What they need is a hiding place. What they need is to survive.

After Mirabel and abuela Alma talk, though, the lyrics change. They refer to Mirabel and Alma as mariposas, “butterflies”, and the line about chrysalises changes to:

Ya son milagros, rompiendo crisálidas

Or, in English:

They're miracles, breaking chrysalises

All this time, they've been living in hiding (in a literal chrysalis of mountains), in safety, in survival mode. Abuela never left behind her fear of losing her home, of losing her family—she never healed from the trauma she endured, and because of that, she hurt her family in trying to keep them safe. Now it's time for the chrysalis to break, for the butterflies to come out and be free and fly. The mountain breaking in half and allowing them to reach the river perfectly symbolises the chrysalis breaking. And this time, when their miracle is reborn in the same river fifty years later, it's not born from grief or fear or a desperate need for safety—it's born from love and acceptance and finally letting fear go.

A "Safe" Choice

So...this is just a self-indulgent little one-shot inspired by something that happens weekly where I work. Basically, every Wednesday, an armored service technician from the cash handling company comes to check the safe, and there's a couple guys that everyone at my workplace agrees are attractive, so I took that and made a one-shot out of it, featuring Blaine as the cute armored service technician and barista!Kurt (Tina and Santana are baristas too just for fun). So yeah, here's that, hope it's not literally the worst thing you've ever read or whatever:

Wednesdays are Kurt's favorite day of the week to work. Every Wednesday, the safe technicians come to the coffee shop to do routine safe checks, but that fact isn't that important. However, the fact that is important is that every Wednesday when the safe technicians come in, the very cute, curly-haired technician is almost always the one who comes to check their safe, and has been for months. And, okay, maybe Kurt has a bit of a crush on the cute, curly-haired technician, and maybe he always makes sure he works on Wednesdays so he can see him.

Wednesdays have always been safe check days, but Wednesdays didn't become Kurt's favorite day of the work week until around a month after the first appearance of 'Hot Safe Guy,' as the curly-haired technician had so lovingly become known amongst the coffee shop employees. Speaking of the first appearance of 'Hot Safe Guy,' when Kurt and his coworkers had seen him for the first time, they'd all agreed that yes, the curly-haired technician was very attractive with his dark curls and cute smile and very nicely toned arms and there was just something about the armored vest; and yes, they'd all secretly hoped that he'd be back the following Wednesday. And when he unfortunately wasn't, it may have brought their spirits down a tiny bit. But when the technician returned the following week, their work day suddenly got a little better. And then it was the same cute, curly-haired technician the following couple weeks, and suddenly, he had been nicknamed Hot Safe Guy amongst the coffee shop crew, and suddenly, Wednesdays had been dubbed Hot Safe Guy days, and a few of the crew members, Kurt included, were doing their best to make sure they always worked on Hot Safe Guy days.

When Hot Safe Guy started appearing more frequently, Kurt and his coworkers may have started spending just a little too much of their time trying to figure out if any of them had a chance with Hot Safe Guy. They may have started attempting to catch the attention of Hot Safe Guy. For instance, as on one Wednesday when Tina decided to wear a mini skirt that could have been dubbed questionable work attire.

"Isn't that skirt a little short for work, T?" Kurt had asked her.

"It's Wednesday," Tina started in response, "It's Hot Safe Guy day, let me have this."

"Okay…" Kurt added with some disbelief in his voice.

"What?" Tina continued, "You don't think I have a chance, do you?"

"Let's just say I think you're trying to attract a guy who is unavailable to you…"

"...You think he's taken?"

"Not that kind of unavailable…"

"You think he's gay?! Wait, why?"

"Uh, have you seen his ass? No straight guy has an ass that nice."

"It does look like it was baked to perfection by some master baker… But that doesn't mean he's gay!"

"We'll see..."

"You ladies wanna stop swooning over the safe guy for a couple minutes and actually help me open this place?" Santana quipped at them.

Kurt would test his guess the following week when he showed up to work in some very tight jeans that also could have been dubbed questionable work attire.

"Aren't those pants a little tight for work, Kurt?" Tina had teased him.

"It's Wednesday," he remarked back at her.

"You still have no proof of him being gay," Tina added.

"I might later. Still upset that he didn't pay attention to you last week, huh?"

"...No."

"Sure, T. Suuure…"

So over the next few weeks, namely Kurt and Tina's, but also a couple other coworkers', attempts to catch Hot Safe Guy's attention continued, and "it's Wednesday" became a very commonly used excuse for their choices in work attire. And though Santana didn't participate in what she had dubbed the "slutty work wear competition," she did keep track of if and when Hot Safe Guy seemed to pay some attention to any of them, and it was eventually discovered that he noticed Kurt much more often than anyone else. That discovery then discouraged most of the girls who had attempted to get Hot Safe Guy's attention, except for Tina, who was still not convinced that Hot Safe Guy might not be attracted to women. That then led to Kurt and Tina both starting to outright flirt with Hot Safe Guy when he came in on Wednesdays, and Santana continuing to keep track of this to see what happened.

After a few weeks of the flirting phase, Kurt and Santana were both pretty sure that the guy had no interest in Tina. Tina, however, was still not convinced.

"Seriously, Tina, give it up, he's not into you," Santana attempted to convince her.

"We don't know that for sure," Tina asserted, "Hot Safe Guy could still be interested in me."

"He's not," Kurt added, "And he does have a name, you know."

Anyways, yeah, here's that, hope it's not literally the worst thing you've ever read or whatever:

The only reason Blaine's at this stupid glee club party at Rachel Berry's house is because Puck told him there would be alcohol. Which thankfully there is because Blaine's not so sure he can sit through this all sober. He'd rather not be spending his night listening to Rachel Berry hog a karaoke machine and ruin some perfectly good songs for him and have to watch all the glee couples make out and dry hump seven thousand times during the night. But here he was with nothing else better to do. At least there was alcohol. And Kurt.

The only reason he even joined this stupid glee club in the first place is because the school had forced him into joining a club so he wouldn't get kicked out of yet another school and glee club had seemed slightly less terrible than others. That , and glee club had Kurt Hummel. Fashionable, snarky, sometimes aloof Kurt Hummel. The boy who held his head high through any obstacle and who couldn't help but pull focus when he walked into a room. Kurt Hummel, who was destined for things much bigger and much more fabulous than Middle-of-Shitsville Lima, Ohio. The boy who caught Blaine's eye the moment he saw him the first day he was at this damn school and who hadn't left his mind since.

Honestly, at first he just thought Kurt was hot. A bit of a bitch, but hot. And Blaine had wanted in his incredibly tight pants. So he'd pursued him. He'd flirted with him constantly. Occasionally it was a little too risque for school property. Eventually Kurt started flirting back. Then Blaine ended up getting stuck in glee club. More flirting. But also just talking sometimes. Eventually he and Kurt had formed a rather unlikely friendship. A rather unlikely friendship that eventually developed into one with benefits. And that was how they'd existed with each other for the past couple months. They'd talk, they'd flirt, they'd hang out sometimes, they'd fuck. They didn't date or do any couple-y shit cuz they weren't a couple, just friends with benefits. That was all they were and all Blaine needed them to be.

Except that it really wasn't. Kurt was different from any other guys he'd been with. Kurt actually seemed to care about him. Actually wanted to talk with him after most nights. Seemed to want him for at least a little more than just a quick fuck. Seemed to not mind being his friend too much at least. Sometimes seemed like he wanted them to be more than what they were. But maybe that was just Blaine making shit up.

Blaine knows that Kurt wants romance. And that Kurt deserves some epic romantic love story. And he can't give him that-- he doesn't do romance. He doesn't do the whole falling in love thing. He's a bad boy who fucks around, no feelings involved, and doesn't let his heart want more. Except when he's with Kurt.

Fuck, he shouldn't be getting almost sentimental like this at a party full of the sappiest people on the planet. What he should be doing is getting so wasted that he doesn't remember any of this emotional bullshit he's thinking in the morning. So that's what he sets out to do until his plan is quickly dashed by Kurt Hummel himself.

"Hey, sunshine," Kurt teases, plopping down on the couch next to him.

"Hey" is all Blaine utters in response, short and admittedly ruder than it should have sounded.

"Having fun brooding over here all by yourself?"

"Yup."

"Something got you down?"

"Are you seeing all of them?" Blaine starts, referring to the glee club couples. "It's sickening."

"While I'll admit that this is a little...intense, I still don't get what it is you have against love."

"I've told you, it's not for me. I'm a badass, I don't do romance."

"I think you could if you wanted to…"

"Nope. Not my thing."

"Boo. But suit yourself I guess."

"I will."

"Well, someone's exceptionally moody tonight. Seriously, what's going on with you?"

"None of your business."

"Actually, I think that as your b-- um, as your friend, it is my business. So what's up?"

"Look, I'm just not in the mood to be here right now, okay?"

"Oh. Okay… sorry. Anything I can do to make your night here a little better?"

"Nope."

"I can't convince you to come sing or anything?"

"Not tonight."

Yea... you guys are quite literally the answer you are looking for. I see a lot of self healing going on. a lot of inner child work. expressing yourself and finding beautiful connections with people. rest is another thing.

1.0: Everything? Probably her sense of humor.

2.0: I love how layered she is. She also brings out some of the best of Tala's acting and is just amazing to watch.

Hair care routine + brief description of your hair uh, i shaved it in november so really i just need to wash it

Skincare routine wash in the morning, cover with makeup, fall asleep without washing it again
