I know it was unexpected for plenty of people but I LOVE the implication that in S3 willow is the one rocking a tough, practical jacket and hunter is the one in the cozy nerd sweater. Especially in the context of how they've always viewed each other?
Willow has always been the "leather jacket-wearing bad-boy with a heart of gold" in hunters eyes when you think about it. She's strong, plays a flashy contact sport that's essentially fantasy-roller derby, stands up to authority and fights for a cause, all the while being sweet and silly and sensitive and secretly insecure but healing from something traumatic that happened to her.
And on the flip side, willow didn't meet Hunter when he was the golden guard, she met him when he was pretending to be a normal kid. He was weird and awkward and overzealous and stand offish. His best friend is a bird and his name is Caleb Jasper Bloodwilliams. BUT as the day goes on he makes friends, acts dorky and encouraging, does something really weird and messed up but (most important to willow) demonstrates that he can mend the mistakes he makes. He's soooo the sheltered "good" girl learning to come out of her shell and willow is the risk taking beefcake who shows him the world. It's disgusting and I love it

AAAAAAAAAA I love the fact that once he realizes that his brothers know who he is, that everything becomes 100% more personal now!!!!
He's no longer holding up the facad of "The Neon Void" he's now just Leo to them, despite the fact that he's struggling to keep that part of him intact because of the parasite. The Leo part of him LOVES his brothers, he adores them to bits, he copes with humorous bad jokes and craves familiarity of family and home.
The Krang parasite is an apathetic well... parasite! It has one goal, which find the key, free the orange. Which was his goal too? But he wanted to destroy the key, only using the Parasite to keep him alive (barely), make him stronger, and lead him to the key.
Which is why I was so easy being Neon Void!! Because he's no longer the Leo his brothers knew, so it was easy, they wouldn't have to know how far he's strayed from being Leo! Every aspect that is so agonizingly him has been twisted and broken into something manged that resembles who he used to be and is.
But now they know, and they see Leo, but they also see how unsettlingly different he is, how not Leo he is, but he's still Leo right?
This is no longer some stupidly powerfully psycotic maniac who knows more than he should, shrouded in mystery. That's their brother, who's been stuck in a hellscape for five years to rot. That grief was what he was trying to avoid, and yet he still opened that door up in the end anyways as their greatest fear and deepest hope come true.
(sorry if this is slightly incoherent I've been thinking about this an awful lot lately RAAHHH)
you nailed it on the head my friend

thinking about very gay southern classic picture fried green tomatoes, wherein a klansman is fed to another klansman. they run the scene back a second time in the end just in case you weren't sure that's what happened the first time you saw it, because they are very considerate and want to make sure you know they fed a klansman to a klansman. which is what you do when the man the lesbian love of your gay life has married turns out to be a klansman, you feed him to another klansman.

Secret sauce
Tumblr media
He was kind of a legend.
He was one of the most successful lobbyists I ever worked with. Not in terms of making money, but in terms of getting bills through the legislature.
Which was amazing. Because his clients were mostly small-time not-for-profits. Stuff like youth services, after school programs, access to mental health care.
Good causes. With shoe-string budgets.
They couldn’t field an army of volunteers to help a friendly legislator. Much less write a check.
And yet, year after year, he got their bills passed. With support from both parties.
When I asked him how he did it, he laughed. Then told me, “I don’t do anything. I just make sure they never forget us. Because if they remember us, they’ll do the right thing.”
As I learned, that wasn’t spin.
Whatever was happening, whatever the issue was – even if there wasn’t an obvious connection to the small-time not-for-profits he represented – he kept his clients visible. He made sure they were part of the conversation.
That really was his secret sauce.
I bring this up, because it reminds me of what Jesus shows us in today’s Gospel.
Jesus is explaining the way that He does things. Jesus is modeling for the Apostles (and for us) how to make sure that you do the right thing.
What’s the constant in today’s Gospel? Jesus is always looking to God, thinking about God, following God’s lead.
“The Son cannot do anything on His own, but only what He sees the Father doing. For what He does, the Son will do also.”
That’s the point of it, the thread that runs through it all.
Jesus isn’t all about Himself. And yet, Jesus never loses sight of who He is. That sounds like a contradiction, but it isn’t.
Jesus never loses sight of who He is, because Jesus never loses sight of Whose He is.
Jesus is always looking to God, thinking about God, following God’s lead, defining Himself in terms of God and His relationship with God.
Which is both a glimpse into the inner life of the Holy Trinity, and the recipe for our lives.
How do you and I do that? We follow the model that Jesus gives us.
We make a habit out of looking to God, thinking about God, following God’s lead, whatever the issue is – even if there isn’t an obvious connection – defining ourselves in terms of God and our relationship with God.
That’s the secret sauce, the recipe for doing the right thing in all things.
