WEEK 11 - Wrap Up
Any Given Sunday
youtube
I know I post this almost every season. But, there's nothing better when it comes to football speeches...and the bottom line is we are at that point in the season. It's time gentlemen to start fighting for those inches. 3 more weeks till Playoffs! Will you be there?
MALIK MY BALLS vs TuPADRE
Tumblr media
I am still in shock and disbelief. I think it's a bit like looking at the scores on Sunday and seeing the Patriots week after week. You just grow so use to the Patriots being great that you can't imagine them being bad. So it is with Andy Gullahorn. For years and years he was a tough match up. Someone to fear on the schedule...but now - the guy puts up under 80 points. Am I thankful? Yes. Of course I am. But, man it's hard to watch a dynasty like Andy Gullahorn / a fierce competitor at heart....fall into obscurity. Nice win Me! Nice F'ing Win!
MOOSES ON THE LOOSES vs TREE HUGGERS
Tumblr media
Moose right now (Above GIF). He's dropped 2 in a row. Everything is working out...he's now 6-5. Can we get him to 6-6? Please Brett - Please stay focused next week and make this happen. Scott, what can I say about Scott. What a great week he has had. Survivor Champ....moves to 8-3 and if that wasn't enough he took the high point. I tried to take it from him but came up just a bit short. Big players for him - Tank Dell, Bills D and Kyler Murray. Nice win! Congrats!
TRADE WITH ME vs BOOMER SOONER
Tumblr media
There he is!!!! There's Brett Rutledge. Week 11 and puts up 127.68 points! Amazing. And, he took down Stu Jones who was on a 3 game winning streak and looking like he was going to coast into the playoffs. Stu had a huge week from Purdy and a decent day from the 49ers D but it couldn't compare to what Brett had going with Love, Cook, Ridley, Gibbs and anytime someone puts up 17 from their kicker it's going to be a good week. Keep it up Brett. I believe. The Moose is next!
LANAKILA vs BACKDOOR BANDITS
Tumblr media
Kyle has got to be in tears tonight, knowing that after 6 losses in a row - he finally grabbed a win. He also finally put up over 100 points...108 to be exact. Cliff saved most of his players for Monday night. His ring leader - Pat Mahomes, his trusty Running Back Pacheco and the Eagles kicker Jake Elliott.... Cliff would need 75 points out of these three to steal the win away from Kyle and I know Patrick Mahomes is good but I just don't see this happening - so I am in an early draft of the wrap up...giving this one to Kyle! Congrats! Enjoy the win!
HOWARD vs LONG LEFT BALLERS
Tumblr media
Will Bebo ever lose again? This is crazy! Crazy I say! I don't even know what to write anymore. He is really really good. I am officially scared. That's all. Nothing about Rob either. Doesn't matter.
FUNK GUY vs MR AWESOME
Tumblr media
Well, here we go...once again it's a monday night and once again Dana is in the hunt for a win. Gabe seems to have it all wrapped up - with all his player finished and 101.86 locked in. Dana has 78.70 and Jalen Hurts left to play. So Dana needs 23.17 from Hurts to grab his 3rd win in a row. The first half Hurts did absolutely nothing but by the 2nd half....he had it going on. Dana came close but in the end...it wasn't enough. Gabe wins in another close one! Congrats Gabe.
SURVIVOR
Tumblr media
This is the winner. Scott Krippayne - winning in dramatic fashion as the Lions had to come back to win the game. Congrats Scott!
CHEERLEADER OF THE WEEK
Tumblr media
Meet Korea's most popular cheerleader Park Kiryang. She cheers for the KBO (Korea Baseball Organization), She is 23 and I am a fan.

2023 Fantasy QB rankings
Patrick Mahomes - Mahomes continues to be the gold standard for QB play. He has consistently been the top QB, and I expect him to give another solid performance this year
Josh Allen - Allen is a fantasy goldmine. He gives both air yards, and solid amount of rushing upside. He makes the Buffalo offense tick.
Justin Herbert - This may come as a surprise to many, but I expect a huge year from Herbert. The addition of Kellen Moore as the new OC means a lot of passing for this offense. The weapons around him are great, so he should have a huge year.
Joe Burrow - I could easily have put Burrow higher on this list, but I expect him to give you another outstanding fantasy performance this year. He won't give you a ton on the rushing side, but his passing numbers will be more than sufficient to carry you.
Trevor Lawrence - The second year in Pederson's system will give us increased performance for "The Chosen One". I expect him to provide us with an MVP like season, and that will equate to an outstanding fantasy season as well.
Jalen Hurts - Last year's league winner comes in a little lower on my list than he does on many others. While I expect him to provide plenty of production, I do expect him to be scaled back a bit on the rushing side. This will hurt his overall fantasy production.
Lamar Jackson - The former MVP will be looking to have a bounce back season. With Monken in as OC, I expect Jackson's passing numbers to be the highest of his career. While he will run, I expect it to be much more situationally.
Justin Fields - Fields burst onto the scene last year with his rushing performance. This year brings some significant personnel changes to the Bears offense, and that should be nothing but a boon for his production. With an improved OL and better weapons on the outside, he should be able to give solid passing numbers in addition to his rushing upside.
Deshaun Watson - Personally, I don't want him on any of my ranking lists, but from purely a fantasy production standpoint this is where I have him slotted in. I expect him to be better than he showed last year, but I'm still not completely sure he will ever be what he was before the suspension.
Dak Prescott - Losing Kellen Moore will hurt his production, but I still expect him to play better than he showed last year. The addition of Brandin Cooks will help this offense. If Dak cuts down on the turnovers he could easily outperform his ADP.
Aaron Rodgers - The change of scenery will probably be good for Rodgers. The weapons around him are solid, and if he can return to his MVP like form, he could provide solid fantasy production this year
Tua Tagovailoa - With the weapons around him, and the offensive scheme he is in, I wanted to put Tua higher on this list. Unfortunately, the injury risk around him forces me to slot him in lower due to my belief that he will miss games.
Russell Wilson - Sean Payton will make a large impact on this offense, and I expect Russ to be one of the biggest beneficiaries. With plenty of weapons at his disposal, he will provide plenty of fantasy upside at his current ADP
Daniel Jones - The second year in Daboll's system should prove to be beneficial for Jones. While they added plenty of options in the WR room, I'm not sure how much they really improved there. If Waller can stay healthy, he provides a solid option, and I expect him to be a team leader in receiving.
Jared Goff - The Detroit offense put up plenty of points last year, and I think they improved this offseason. Bringing Marvin Jones back will provide a nice safe option, and the addition of Gibbs and LaPorta also give plenty of options as well.
Geno Smith - While this will continue to be a run first offense, Geno showed a great command of this offense last year, and I think he can be slightly better this year. The WR room is very talented, and offers plenty of options for QB production.
Kirk Cousins - I struggle with Cousins this year. Even though he has the best WR in the league at his disposal, the rest of the team isn't very good. He might easily outperform this ranking, but I think there is too much risk for me to put him any higher.

The Evolution Of The 2022 Eagles Is Sport’s Greatest Life Lesson
Tumblr media
The Kansas City Chiefs walk into Superbowl 57 as the incumbent.
They may not be the reigning Superbowl champions, but the fact that this is their third appearance in a Superbowl, certainly has them feeling like the defending champions going in to this one.
The team across from them have had a different kind of journey to this point.
youtube
In 2005, the Philadelphia Eagles contested, what would in hidsight, be the most controversial game in NFL history, given the informatoin that would later come to light regarding the New England Patriots.
The Eagles will never know for sure, the exact extent to which Spygate influenced the outcome of thier Superbowl loss.
It would be a long time until the Eagles had a chance to right that wrong in 2017, against the very same New England Patriots, and this time the Eagles would leave no doubt as to who was the better team.
No spying. No hand signal stealing. No hotel room bugging or practice session recording and a definitive result to accompany a long overdue Superbowl victory.
Tumblr media
Since that Superbow win in 2017, the Eagles have had to undergo a mini-rebuilding.
This is a team that retains many of the core principles of the 2017 team (The RPO), while being wildly different in how they approach games.
These Eagles took a 5 year rebuild and turned it into a Superbowl worthy team
The story of these Philadelphia Eagles is one of ingenuity, adjustment and evolution.
When the Eagles drafted Jalen Hurts in 2020, they had no idea what they were getting.
They knew bro was from Alabama, they knew that a lot of the personal recommendations from people that had been around Jalen in colleger were outstanding, but they were not 100% sure about what type of quarterback they were getting, or what the ceiling of his potential actually was.
Tumblr media
From 2020 to now, no team has done a better job trusting the process, and commiting to change like the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now they stand one game away from history, and the Kansas City Chiefs represent an opponent of significance for so many more reasons than Patrick Mahomes.
Indeed, as significant as this is for the Eagles, the Chiefs carry with them one of the most important parts of Eagles history in the form of thier head coach Andy Reid.
Before Doug Peterson, and way before current head coach, Nick Sirianni, Andy Reid was the first head coach to get them close to the holy grail that is the Superbowl.
Reid’s tenure with the Eagles will be remembered as the “nearly” era, a period of time where the Eagles were always competetive but never the winners. He has since revamped, refurbished and refined his reputation as being among the greatest coaches in the sports history.
A 2nd Superbowl victory cements Reid as unquestionable, as long as Bill Belichick isn’t the one doing the questioning.
This is by far, the most best and most significant opponent the Eagles could be matched up with on this stage, and just one win away from writing their way in to history, and it’s Reid and Mahomes standing across from them.
I’m happy for the Eagles, but i’ll be even happier if they bring it home, and truly cap this chapter of thier history and complete their evolution and transformation in to a winning franchise.
Good luck boys, and Fly Eagles Fly.
Tumblr media
By the way this is the first Superbowl that will feature two black quarterbacks. So you know I gotta toast to that.

How to Watch Super Bowl LVII Live Without Cable on February 12: Which Teams Are Playing, Kickoff Time and More And not just any night of football. We're talking about one of the biggest sporting events of the year, which will be here in less than two weeks. Super Bowl LVII is happening Sunday, February 12. With all of the excitement, fanfare and food to prepare, it can be easy to lose sight of the most important question surrounding Super Bowl Sunday: How to watch the big game? If you won't be in the stadium, you'll want to be front and center in front of your TV when the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Now that we know the matchup, it all comes down to this: Figuring out how to stream Super Bowl LVII live even if you don't have cable. Here's everything we know about Super Bowl LVII. When and where is Super Bowl LVII? Super Bowl LVII will take place in Glendale, Arizona at the State Farm Stadium on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. MST, 6:30 p.m. EST. For those without cable, there are a few live streaming services that allow you to watch the big game live, including Hulu+, fuboTV, or Sling TV. You can sign up for any of these services now. Which teams are playing in the Super Bowl? After a hard-fought win in the AFC Championship game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs are headed back to the Super Bowl for the first time since winning in the 2019 season. The Chiefs will battle Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles who took down the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship game. The Eagles are returning to the big game for the first time since winning five years ago. With Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and Eagles center Jason Kelce both headed to State Farm Stadium, the game will also mark the first time two brothers will play each other in a Super Bowl. Who is singing the national anthem? Country star Chris Stapleton will perform the national anthem for Super Bowl LVII. The eight-time Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter's take on the patriotic song is sure to be moving. Who is playing the Super Bowl halftime show? Nine-time Grammy award winner Rihanna will be performing the Super Bowl LVII halftime show. While not much has been shared about what we can expect from this highly anticipated show hosted by Apple Music, Rihanna recently told ET it will be a celebration of her music. Rihanna is helping fans gear up for her return to the stage with a collection of Savage X Game Day apparel and accessories. Serving up the best commercials of the year, the advertisements during the Super Bowl rarely disappoint. Many brands are keeping these commercial details under wraps until they air during the big game. Until then, check out some of the best commercials from the 2022 Super Bowl and keep a lookout, as there may be some teasers before this year's Super Bowl.

NFL Top-10 Wideouts (Mid-Season)
Compiling a list of this magnitude is tough. Each week wideouts have their names plastered on my blog of top performances with one wideout being name wideout of the week. Without checking I believe we have had 6-7 different wideouts take home the illustrious award. We all have biases and I did my best to be as objective as possible. But at the end of the day who and what we like is based on subjective reasoning. I’m going to list the top-10 statistically and agree or disagree with there current place.
#10 Terry McLaurin 38-609 yards 2 TD’s
#9 Mike Evans        44-617 yards 3 TD’s
#8 Chris Olave        43-618 yards 2 TD’s
#7 Davante Adams 48-658 yards 7 TD’s
#6 A.J.Brown         43-718 yards 6 TD’s
#5 Jaylen Waddle   47-812 yards 6 TD’s
#4 Cooper Kupp     72-813 yards 6 TD’s
#3 Stefon Diggs      60-857 yards 7 TD’s
#2 Justin Jefferson 59-867 yards 3 TD’s
#1 Tyreek Hill          76-1104 yards 3 TD’s
The Washington Commanders future is promising with the talents of Terry McLaurin. His game is smooth and he has the ability to stretch the field and play underneath making plays when his number is dialed. I agree with him capturing the 10 spot because at the end of the day productivity is a big part in who’s the best.
This list was supposed to come out before week 10 games were played and while that didn’t happen. This benefited Mike Evans because he showed up to play this weekend against the Seattle Seahawks. He hasn’t looked engaged at all times when the ball comes his way and he hasn’t shown that hunger that some of the other wideouts have displayed. Nonetheless he is still a top-10 wideout at the mid-point of the season.
Its surprising to see a rookie at number 8 but that’s exactly where Chris Olave belongs. Now he technically isn’t better than any of the guys on this list. But I’m an open-minded person and don’t really care for what you once did. Right now Olave is making enough plays to have him statistically in the top-10 and others will have to outproduce him to surpass him.
Davante is still really good. Everyone besides him, I think, knew his life would not be the same leaving Aaron Rodgers this past off-season. He hasn’t been as consistent as I expect but when he’s on his game, there aren’t many in the league better than Davante Adams. He’s where he’s at because some of the younger guys are playing better right now. But as the team improves I expect him to be in that top-5 conversation at the end of the season.
A.J. Brown is a dog. When I watch him get off the ball It brings a smile to my face. The kid is explosive and fast. He also appears to be having a ton of fun. His team is currently in first place and with the way Jalen Hurts spreads the ball I’m surprised he’s statistically #6 in yards. He also is tied for 5th in touchdowns with 6 so far. Brown makes plays all over the field. He plays big and I expect more big plays throughout the season.
Jaylen Waddle has been spectacular. When the ball is in his hand I’m starting to expect something amazing to happen. Waddle is averaging 17.7 yards/catch which is crazy. Playing across from another dog ass wideout in Hill…I’m sure Jaylen gets that urge to try and match and outdo the phenomenal shit Tyreek does. Waddle has made some big catches and I like how he competes for the 50/50 ball. He’s having one hell of a season. And with 7 games left he needs less than 150 yards to surpass his rookie total of 1,015.
Cooper Kupp the reigning triple crown winner is having himself a stellar season. I’m sure he’s not too happy with the Rams current record, but if we’re honest he’s the reason why they have had something positive to talk about. Kupp is better than I originally thought. Watching his tape every week and noticing something different in his game each week that explains why he’s so hard to guard. Kupp is smart. He knows defenses and body language. He hardly ever fights the leverage of the defender and uses that to his advantage. And he makes plays-the shit I love. He’ll most likely not make the top-10 list at the end of the year because he was just placed on injured reserve for at least 4 weeks.
The “I’m Him” wideout is probably my favorite to watch right now. Maybe because I see similarities in our game. In college when it came to press releases I couldn’t be touched. I was a basketball player who had an Allen Iverson style of cross-over. And that’s exactly what I see from Stefon Diggs. He crosses dudes left and right puts the ball behind his back. He hesitates and crosses defenders. Plus we both are great route runners. Then he plays with this angry attitude that draws me in. Diggs is magnetic. Every catch he makes he gets up mad. I love the physicality he added to his game this season. He’s my favorite to watch right now. And quite frankly the top-3 on this list could each make an argument as the best wideout in the game.
Justin “The Man” Jefferson is as cool as the other side of the pillow. After 9 games with 1,060 yards, Jefferson is proving to the league that he’s the best in the game. I believe he made a comment after Kupp finished with the most yards that he would be considered the best this year. As of now it seems like he’s cashing in on that promise. The plays Jefferson make are effortless. His game is smooth. He’s a serious threat in all phases of the passing game. He can beat defenders on go-routes. Then he’ll run a slot out or comeback for the intermediate game. And finish with a slant on press for the short game. Right now he checks every box and it will be interesting to see him and Tyreek battle to the last second of the 17th game for the most receiving yards this season.
Ladies and Gentlemen introducing Tyreek Hill as the mid-season top wideout in the NFL. After 9 games Hill has 1,104 yards receiving. He’s on some Calvin Johnson type shit. Every week I watch his tape I wonder what type of spectacular play will Tyreek have today? Tyreek is box office. To see how much fear he puts in the poor little db’s heart is beautiful. I would be scared to guard him too. Tyreek cannot be guarded. He’s fast, quick, and explosive. He plays tough and physical. And he attacks the ball. Of course I can nit-pic every wideouts game and find something they can improve on but with Hill I am less inclined to because I can’t see many holes in his game.

Week One
Because I’m sure everyone is dying to know, I’ll cut straight to the chase: yes, I won my week one match. Yes, I spent all of Sunday in a full blown meltdown scanning my points vs. everyone else’s points, aghast and inconsolable over Jacksonville’s sluggish start, and I dipped after Mahomes laid the Cardinals out to wash three loads of dishes. It’s not that you win, it’s that you win the exact way you wanted to win -- and I did not win that way in week one.
LEAGUE NOTES:
With the box scores all settled, my total points are: 116.52, my record is 1-0, and I’m leading my division. Against the rest of the league, I fared better in total points and my score puts me in 4th place overall; better in points left on the table (a fairly moot stat in week one, but something I’m keen to track as setting a line up, I’ve already noted, is not my strong suit or favorite activity); and I fared worse in player performance and bench depth. After a week, I feel I’m about average. You know who is not about average? My husband. Weasel-winner of Davante Adams. That motherfucker put up ONE HUNDRED AND FORTY-THREE points for a league best performance. Congrats, baby.
PLAYER NOTES:
Murray: Not great but XP are XP, as I’m sure he knows. I just feel like Murray respects fantasy, unlike the guy narrating the Jaguars game who posited “this is why we don’t play it on paper.” Well, you don’t. I do.
DJ Moore: LOL I got played. I guess I just WISHED I’d signed the guy catching all of Mayfield’s drifts but Robbie Anderson is still a free agent.
Lawrence: Disappointing start at superflex. I watched the whole game and, I don’t know, I am a Jaguars fan now? I have a lot of thoughts about this game that I’ll get into in a subsequent post.
AJ Brown: Spectacular! I wish I’d watched this game instead of Jacksonville. I fully believe he will dominate the whole season. I wish he’d spared some for Devonta though, yikes.
CEH: I mean. I can’t complain, so, naturally, here are some complaints. He’s not really a very good RB, it’s just that Mahomes is literally so great he can make accurate passes with his eyes closed and his head spun around backwards. Mahomes is the closest thing football has to a superhero and CEH is, like me, all too human. I will take the points, gladly, but I have no expectation that he can repeat this performance. At least he’s still healthy.
Conner: He was there, he played in that game.
Irv Smith: Dead to me.
Mike Evans: I only watched a little bit of this game, and everything bad that happened to the Cowboys was immensely more interesting than Tampa Bay getting off to a mediocre but passable start. Big Anti-energy. Seems like Evans did fine, and he was meant to be that guy for me. That guy I don’t have to worry about or stand vigil over.
Geno Smith: Wish I’d started him over Lawrence.
Henderson: Spicy! He’s de-facto RB1 in LA now. Too bad they look like shit. Overall, I’ll stick with Conner and CEH unless something happens to disturb the deep, profound bond between Stafford and Kupp.
LEAGUE GOSSIP:
Week one generated a ton of little tidbits that I’m storing away like acorns in my cheeks.
It is revealed that Jalen Hurts is godfather to Aj Brown’s daughter. Brown LOVES that kid. The two things I know about AJ Brown are that he’s always open and that he loves his daughter more than anything. These two clearly have an unbreakable bond.
Brady starts the season with a tepid game. He’s less old and haggard looking than Rodgers but in the postgame interview I note it looks like Brady has cheek implants -- he has this rigid, almost Vulcan, projection on the high points of his face. Gisele does not attend the game. I keep hearing about what Gisele is doing and how the marriage is weathering its most difficult storm and the more this story is fed to me, the more it tastes like pure bullshit. I don’t know what’s going on there yet but it’s something and they’re trying to put Gisele in front of it.
Broncos and Seahawks beefed it out. This was a surprisingly hostile game that often teetered on violence. Pete Carroll drives everyone nuts (I kind of like him) but it obviously works. When he challenged the first down ruling at the end of the game, my husband almost lost his mind. But I think if Carroll hadn’t made that unforced error, Hackett wouldn’t have volleyed two of his own unforced errors in return. Extremely well played by Carroll and I expect every team to have Hackett’s number going forward. A real bummer for a team that is full of talent but run by a guy with zero emotional management skills.
MOVES TO MAKE:
More like moves I already made. I didn’t even wait until kick off in the Cowboys/Bucs game to put OJ Howard on the auction block. Irv Smith, whom you may remember I paid $14 for in a payback bidding war with the guy who “stole” Hollywood Brown from me, put up a hot, fat 0.0 in his start over the injured George Kittle. Unlike Kmet, my opponent’s hot, fat 0.0 starting TE, Smith wasn’t playing under total duress. I don’t have a lot of faith in a rebound, I’m ready to pivot. As far as waiver wire options go, there isn’t much left for the crows in this league. Taysom Hill and Hayden Hurst are available. Higbee is out there. I’m intrigued by Hill, I won’t pretend I’m not. The allure of getting quarterback points at tight end is so, so potent. But I resisted because the Saints are running a joke offense and you (probably) can’t do that to great success over the course of a season. I don’t totally believe what I wrote there, I love trick plays, gimmicks, alchemy, all of it and I’d love nothing more than to see it work. But the Texans, with the extremely boring and predictable Lovie Smith helming the ship, are going to play extremely boring and predictable football, which should hopefully be a better guarantee of work for Howard. I won him for $1.
D.J. Moore full on RILED me up. I blame Baker Mayfield -- I hate Baker Mayfield. Baker’s always trying to “be Baker” more than he’s trying to “be good at football” so I’m in some ways unsurprised that the big winner of week 1 with this goofy ass team was not McCaffrey, the top flight running back, and not Moore, an excellent pass catcher, but Anderson, the guy who said he flat out wanted nothing to do with Baker Mayfield. Baker is actively making this team worse by refusing to be talented with other talented players. Cursed franchise, whatever. I don’t like the Washington Commanders, but I guess I don’t hate them the way I hate Baker Mayfield so I’ve pivoted to winning Curtis Samuel off the waiver wire. For $8 he is mine and he is starting in flex week two. More Moore notes to follow.

2021 Philadelphia Eagles

2021 Mock Draft 1.0
Tumblr media
Super Bowl 55 is just a few days away, which means draft season is looming in the rearview mirror. In a class that is expected to produce an abundance of offensive talent, several teams could benefit from this year’s crop. With a reported possibility of 18 teams looking for a change at the quarterback position, there is quite a bit of ambiguity as we approach the draft, and this year could shape up to be one of the wildest drafts we’ve seen in recent memory. Without further ado, here are my early first round predictions for the 2021 NFL draft....
1. Jacksonville Jaguars: Trevor Lawrence, QB, Clemson
From the moment he set foot on campus his freshman season, Lawrence has always has shown the capabilities of being a future NFL star. He took no time bursting onto the scene. After a dazzling freshman season, in which he lead the Tigers to a title in blowout fashion over an absolutely loaded Alabama team, he followed it up with two more trips to the playoffs, including another trip to the title game.
The former No.1 overall recruit in the country offers everything one could wish for in a franchise quarterback.  He is a gifted, natural thrower of the football who is wise beyond his years at the position. Even new head coach Urban Meyer feels that he has the potential to be the best QB ever. Jaguars fans, your savior has come. Rejoice.
2. Houston Texans: Zach Wilson, QB, BYU
Houston receives: 2nd overall pick (2021), 23rd overall pick (2021), 3rd round pick (2021), 1st round pick (2022), 4th round pick (2022)
New York receives: Deshaun Watson, 6th round pick (2022)
Let’s get weird. Deshaun Watson being traded has reached inevitability status, and the Jets are stockpiled with draft picks over the next few years. It has been rumored that Watson would prefer to play for the Jets under the tutelage of new head coach Robert Saleh. The Jets have the firepower to make this pick happen, and in this scenario they pull off the mega deal and get their guy. So where does that leave Houston?
They luck into a talented, natural thrower of the football, with a very clean feel for the pocket. He has a rocket arm, and is particularly impressive when asked to go off script. The Texans rebuild will undoubtedly be a long one, but with Wilson, they have a fresh face of the franchise moving forward, and will look to continue adding more weapons around him to set him up for success.
3. San Francisco 49ers: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
San Francisco receives: 3rd overall pick (2021), 5th round pick (2022)
Miami receives: 12th overall pick (2021), 43rd overall pick (2021), 1st round pick (2022), 3rd round pick (2022), 7th round pick (2022)
Between the Rams’ recent trade for Matthew Stafford, and Kyle Shanahan remaining noncommittal on Jimmy Garoppolo for the foreseeable future, it wouldn’t shock me to see John Lynch be aggressive and try to nab their QB of the future.
Fields put up gaudy numbers in his first year as a starter, posting an absurd 51-3 TD/INT ratio. He showed a bit of regression in a COVID-shortened year two, but still displayed all of the tools you’d hope to see when searching for a franchise QB.
Finding a way to get Jimmy G’s lucrative contract off the books, and adding a talented player like Fields would be a win-win for an organization whom I feel would GREATLY benefit from a changing of the guard under center.
4. Atlanta Falcons: Trey Lance, QB, North Dakota State
With the arrival of new head coach Arthur Smith, it is time for a rebrand in Atlanta. Matt Ryan is expected to make over $40m a season for the next two years, and while he is certainly not the main issue with this team, the Falcons need to move in a new direction.
Lance is perhaps the most polarizing player in this year’s class. Similar to Fields, he too posted video game like numbers in his first year at the helm. The Minnesota product threw for 28 TD’s, while posting another 14 on the ground. He also didn’t throw an interception all season. He possess all of the physical tools that NFL teams salivate over, and while questions will remain in regards to the inferior competition he’s been exposed to over his career, the opportunity to sit and learn from Matt Ryan could serve both himself and the Falcons some good.
5. Cincinnati Bengals: Penei Sewell, OT, Oregon
If Sewell is on the board, he will be the pick for the Bengals. After breakout rookie quarterback Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending ACL tear, the sense of urgency to upgrade the offensive line should be at an all-time high for the Bengals.
Sewell allowed just one sack over 1,376 career snaps and will spend the majority of his rookie season at age 20. He is a smooth mover with easy power, who is capable of playing on either side of the line. He is the exact type of stalwart that is needed for the Bengals to protect their QB of the future.
6. Philadelphia Eagles: DeVonta Smith, WR, Alabama
I don’t know what to make of the Eagles’ current situation. They are in QB purgatory and have gaping holes riddled across their roster. With the recent hiring of Colts’ OC Nick Sirianni, I’d imagine adding offensive firepower would be at the top of his to-do list. Assuming they move forward with Jalen Hurts at QB, it is imperative to surround him with quality skill players. After drafting Jalen Reagor in the first round last year, they double dip this year and take the reigning Heisman Trophy winner.
Smith is not the most conventional receiver, being that there aren’t too many 6′1, 175-lb receivers who have enjoyed prolonged success in the league, but Smith doesn’t care about your player profiles. Smith can make plays all over the field and beat you in a myriad of ways. He is a nuanced route runner with a seemingly natural feel for his position, and someone I can assume Sirianni will fall in love with as the draft process begins to heat up.
7. Detroit Lions: Jaylen Waddle, WR, Alabama
If Lance were to have fallen to this spot, I’d have probably made him the selection. However, I’ll opt to give them a difference maker like Waddle.
With Kenny Golladay’s impending departure and both Danny Amendola and Marvin Jones Jr. testing the open market, that WR room could get UGLY in a hurry. Waddle is essentially a supercharged version of his former teammate Henry Ruggs. He has legit 4.2 speed, and does a great job of tracking the deep ball. The Lions are desperate for speed on the perimeter, and Waddle would be an instant upgrade to what they have now. He’s a true, top-10 talent assuming he manages to stay healthy.
8. Carolina Panthers: Ja’marr Chase, WR, LSU
Now just hear me out on this. Curtis Samuel is approaching free agency and will likely be headed elsewhere. Aside from DJ Moore and Robby Anderson, the cupboard is bare. Chase put up record-setting numbers in his only year under current Panthers OC Joe Brady when they were at LSU, so a reunion would only be right.
Chase is perhaps the best player in the entire class regardless of position. He is a physical route-runner who attacks the catch point with ease, and his RAC ability might be his best trait. He is very reminiscent of Moore, and pairing those two along with Anderson’s deep speed could perhaps create the most dangerous receiving trio in the NFL.
9. Denver Broncos: Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech
After an heavy offensive draft last year, the Broncos buck the trend and refocus on rebuilding their defense. Farley’s size and athleticism are a perfect fit in Vic Fangio’s versatile defensive scheme. I believe Farley has the potential to be a star in this league very quickly.
10. Dallas Cowboys: Rashawn Slater, OT, Northwestern
After wrestling back and forth with myself on this pick, the Cowboys settle on Slater. The once elite Cowboys offensive line has suddenly deteriorated into mediocrity. With both Tyron Smith and La’el Collins returning from injuries, Slater can serve as an insurance policy at either position, or kick him inside if need be.
His versatility and strong lower half are both commendable traits that should allow him to see a long career in the NFL.
11. New York Giants: Patrick Surtain II, CB, Alabama
Truthfully, this might be the most unpredictable pick in the first round. Dave Gettleman is tricky, but recently he has invested into the secondary quite a bit. After signing James Bradberry to a pricy extension last off-season, they also invested a pick into Xavier McKinney, as well as the addition of guys like Logan Ryan and Jabrill Peppers.
With Surtain, he brings a combo of length and savvy to the position, and would serve as the Giants’ other outside corner opposite of Bradberry.
12. Miami Dolphins: Kyle Pitts, TE, Florida
San Francisco receives: 3rd overall pick (2021), 5th round pick (2022)
Miami receives: 12th overall pick (2021), 43rd overall pick (2021), 1st round pick (2022), 3rd round pick (2022), 7th round pick (2022)
Yes, I’m highly aware that Mike Gesicki exists. But hear me out on this one, Pitts is more than just your standard “tight end” prospect. If it weren’t for a TE listed next to his position, I’d say that he’s the second best receiver in the draft.
He is nearly impossible to match up against. He’s too fast for linebackers and too physical for corners. He’s shown the capability to play in the slot, flexed out wide, or with his hand in the dirt. Pairing him and Gesicki together will give Tua Tagovailoa (assuming he remains their guy moving forward), a plethora of weapons at his disposal.
13. Los Angeles Chargers: Christian Darrisaw, OT, Virginia Tech
Keeping Justin Herbert clean and protected should be the top priority heading into the offseason for Tom Telesco. After a breakout rookie season, it seems the Chargers struck a goldmine in Herbert. Being that the Chargers haven’t had a decent offensive line in years, a trip out west would make sense for Darrisaw.
The Virginia Tech product is a very fluid mover, whose length and quickness allow him to reach the second level with ease as a run blocker. He will be an instant upgrade to their run game, and has the maturity to protect Herbert’s blindside from day one in LA.
14. Minnesota Vikings: Gregory Rousseau, EDGE, Miami
After the loss of Everson Griffen to free agency, and Danielle Hunter missing most of the 2020 season due to a back injury, the Vikings should be looking to rebuild their pass rush. Mike Zimmer seems to have a knack for high-ceiling pass rushers with athletic upside. Rousseau fits the bill.
The Florida native saw his star shine after a dazzling sophomore season, racking up an impressive 15.5 sacks. Rousseau has easy power off the edge. While he is still a bit raw from a technician standpoint, his natural power and length will be a nightmare for tackles to deal with from day one. If he can mature his game, he has the potential to be one of the most productive edge rushers in the league in due time.
15. New England Patriots: Micah Parsons, EDGE, Penn State
After some recent concerns over Parsons’ character, he sees his stock slide and he falls into the lap of Bill Belichick. After being used in several different spots at Penn State,
Parsons projects best as an EDGE, but has the necessary tools to develop his skills over time. Belichick has a fetish for hybrid linebackers that can rush the passer, and pairing the two together would do wonders for his development over time.
16. Arizona Cardinals: Jaycee Horn, CB, South Carolina
After adding Matthew Stafford to the division, and the Niners looking to upgrade at the quarterback position, it is time for the Cardinals to get better in the secondary. Quickly.
Horn is an excellent press corner, with an alpha-dog type mentality that should fit in well in the Cardinals’ back end. He does have a tendency to be too grabby and aggressive at times, and his lack of size will hurt him against bigger receivers. He is not a perfect corner prospect, but the Cardinals don’t have much of a choice here.
17. Las Vegas Raiders: Jaelan Phillips, EDGE, Miami
Truthfully, I have no idea what to predict here. The front office is an absolute mess, and have proven themselves to be incompetent when it comes to drafting. After missing badly on Clelin Ferrell a few years ago, they have a chance to redeem themselves with the selection of Phillips.
The former number one overall recruit had a late start to his career, after suffering several injuries and at one point declaring himself medically retired. After transferring to Miami from UCLA, Phillips began to improve his game, and vaulted himself into first round considerations after a breakout 2020 campaign. His injury history may force him to fall, but his combination of size, speed, and motor is very exciting, and he may be the exact type of player Mike Mayock falls in love with.
18. Miami Dolphins: Zaven Collins, LB, Tulsa
Brian Flores is one of the few Belichick proteges recently that has found success as a head coach. Much like Belichick, Flores places a large emphasis on versatility, particularly on the defensive side of the ball. This is why Collins would be a perfect fit on day one.
Collins was truly a jack-of-all-trades in his time at Tulsa. He was one of the best players in all of college football last season, and did so in a number of ways. He can rush the passer, cover a runningback out of the backfield. Think D’onta Hightower type role for Collins if he were to head to south beach.
19. Washington Football Team: Mac Jones, QB, Alabama
With the trend in the NFL heading towards a youth movement at QB, it wouldn’t shock me to see Washington fall in love with Jones.
Although he’s not the most dynamic passer, Jones is a solid athlete with an incredibly comfortable feel for the game. He is a great processor with plus accuracy, and has shown impressive flashes of improvisation. He may not have a very high ceiling moving forward, but I can him instantly making that team better and elevating them into playoff contention on a year-to-year basis.
20. Chicago Bears: Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota
With Allen Robinson likely headed elsewhere in free agency and Anthony Miller’s slow start, the time is now to add playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. Insert Bateman.
One of the most forgotten men in the whole class, Bateman is silky smooth in everything he does, and will be the most physical WR on any field he steps on. He eats up intermediate routes, and is capable of being a vertical threat. His game reminds me a ton of guys like Keenan Allen and Michael Thomas, not the most physically gifted guys, but masters of their craft and play to their strengths.
Whether or not the Bears decide to move forward with Mitchell Trubisky at QB or not, it is imperative to give the man under center some more feasible options to work with in the passing game.
21. Indianapolis Colts: Kwity Paye, EDGE, Michigan
While the temptation was high to take a receiver here, I opted for the highly athletic EDGE with limitless upside.
Not having a combine will prove to affect Paye’s stock, as he was expected to test through the roof at his position. Once listed as one of Bruce Feldman’s “freaks”, Paye finally applied his athleticism to the field in 2020. He is very reliant on his natural power and speed, and has yet to develop any consistent counter moves. If developed properly, his size/speed combo alongside Deforest Buckner could prove to be deadly for an already improving defense.
22. Tennessee Titans: Azeez Ojulari, EDGE, Georgia
Being that the Jadeveon Clowney acquisition backfired on them, the Titans are still in search of a consistent pass rush opposite of Harold Landry.
Ojulari is young and lacks experience. But when his motor gets going, he could be the most explosive rusher in the class. He’d be perfect in their 3-4 defense, and has the potential to be a good player in space as he gains more experience.
23. New York Jets: Joseph Ossai, EDGE, Texas
One of the staples of a Robert Saleh defense is consistent pressure off the edge. The Jets lack any and all types of pass rush at the moment, and Ossai’s intriguing upside in that defense could see him turn out to be a very productive player.
24. Pittsburgh Steelers: Liam Eichenberg, OT, Notre Dame
Man, Notre Dame just pumps them out, don’t they? With GM Kevin Colbert’s affinity for drafting players from big name schools, Eichenberg becomes the most recent, NFL product of the offensive line factory that is Notre Dame.
Much like any of the Notre Dame linemen of the past, Eichenberg is techincally sound in everything he does. He may not be athletic enough to play left tackle, but is a plug and play right tackle from day one.
25. Jacksonville Jaguars: Samuel Cosmi, OT, Texas
Although the temptation would be to select a receiver here, the Jags have $100m in cap space to work with, which can be spent on one of the receivers in what is expected to be an impressive free agency class.
Cosmi may be a little undersized, but is very athletic and light on his feet for the position. If he can bulk up and maintain his athleticism, I can see him being the Jaguars’ left tackle for the next decade.
26. Cleveland Browns: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah, LB, Notre Dame
A surprising slide leaves Cleveland with one of the most gifted players in the draft.
JOK is a heat-seeking missile, who showed very impressive flashes in coverage. He is the prototypical, modern-day NFL linebacker through and through.
27. Baltimore Ravens: Kadarius Toney, WR, Florida
Eric Decosta recently hinted at his lust for the dynamic Florida receiver. Toney was used in several different ways over the course of his career, but really seemed to find himself as a slot receiver in 2020.
On a team desperate for playmakers on offense, Toney would fit like a glove on that intermediate/short game offensive scheme. Toney is a menace with the ball in his hands. He has incredible contact balance and vision. If he continues to progress as a receiver, he would be a very nice addition.
28. New Orleans Saints: Christian Barmore, IDL, Alabama
In what looks to be a fairly uninspiring IDL class, Barmore’s stock rose in his first season as a starter. The Philly native has clubs for hands, and he proved himself to be un-blockable down the stretch. Ohio State had no answer for him in the national championship game, and he seems to only be sratching the surface of what he can become.
In this case, the Saints don’t reach for a QB and draft the best player on the board, which just so happens to be Barmore.
29. Green Bay Packers: Dyami Brown, WR, North Carolina
The Packers failure to address the receiver position came full circle this season. After losing their second consecutive NFC Championship, the lack of talent at WR cost them in the end. Enter Dyami Brown, one of the best kept secrets in the entire draft.
Brown is a budding star. Only listed at 6′1, 185-lb, Brown consistently plays larger than his frame. He is perhaps the best vertical threat in the entire draft. Brown displays freakish ball tracking skills, along with 4.3 speed. Pairing him with Rodgers could be the missing piece that gets them over the hump moving forward, and would show that the organization is dedicated to Rodgers as their guy until he retires.
30. Buffalo Bills: Nick Bolton, LB, Missouri
With Matt Milano’s future with the Bills in question, it would not surprise me to see them cut bait and go after the athletic and physical SEC backer.
Bolton is a bit undersized for the position, so pairing him with Tremaine Edmunds would be the perfect complement. He great sideline to sideline speed, and will be an immediate upgrade over Milano from an athletic standpoint.
31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama
With Donovan Smith set to become a free agent, I’d imagine the Bucs will look to replace him this off-season.
Leatherwood was a two-year starter at left tackle, but is capable of playing on the interior as well. Even if the Bucs were to bring Smith back, having a depth piece to the quality of Leatherwood could serve vital for a team who is destined ti make a run until Tom Brady’s retirement.
32. Kansas City Chiefs: Alijah Vera-Tucker, iOL, USC
An interesting storyline that has gotten lost in the mix of guys like Patrick Mahomes, Tyreek Hill, and Travis Kelce, the Chiefs have battled several injuries along the offensive line. They’re likely to play 3-4 backups in the Super Bowl this Sunday.
Although the production remains elite and ultimately the deteriorating health on the line hasn’t bitten them yet, it is not a sustainable way to move forward.
Vera-Tucker is a highly refined player, who has experience playing at any spot on the line. Much like the Bucs, adding quality depth and talent among the offensive line to protect your franchise should never be a move that is scrutinized.

“The XFL is a thing. Should you care about it?”
Joey
February 2nd, 2020
Another winter, another money mark attempt to figure out winter football.
The NFL has wrapped up another successful season and now it's Vince McMahon's turn to try once more with a brand new football league. In 2019, the son of his friend Dick Ebersole tried with the AAF which fell apart before the season finale could even take place. Vince McMahon seems more prepared than Charlie Ebersole and his backers, especially when you consider that the XFL apparently has long term financial backing place to absorb what figures to be some money losing seasons. The XFL's rule set which features things like a revamped overtime, a double forward pass concept, a continuously running game clock and a variety of different special teams related rules designed to entice an improved pace of play. Is the XFL going to revolutionize the NFL? Probably not. Will it provide some concepts that inevitably get stolen? I'm going with a pretty solid "oh yeah absolutely." It's live sports and chances are if you're reading this you know that the SportsSoundoff is all about live sports and activities that are able to cosplay as sports (axe throwing and chainsaw-ing come to mind).
If you're looking for more football to take in then the XFL figures to give you that and with readily-ish available-ish games across FS1/2, Fox, ABC and ESPN/2 platforms. Long story short, games will be out there for ya if you want to spell some time between the NBA's second half kicking off and the start of baseball and college basketball's tournament run. With a neat and tidy eight teams across a variety of markets, I'd like to go team by team and detail why you should try your hardest to give each team the benefit of your time. Some teams figure to be easy and some teams figure to be impossible BUT I've got free time and I gotta do something, right?
The Dallas Desperados The most intriguing coaching staff in the entire league
Let's start from the obvious; if Bob Stoops truly wanted to, he could be coaching in the NCAA right now. This is a guy who left Oklahoma as an insanely successful well liked legacy coach who won a national title and 10 conference championships. Bob Stoops took Oklahoma football to a level not seen since the Barry Switzer run and is clearly one of the greatest coaching minds of his era. Health and perhaps a general all around malaise for football led to Stoops stepping down but when you look around the number of college teams divided by the number of quality of minds currently available for head coaching jobs, there's zero doubt Stoops could've been the guy at any school he wanted to over the past two years. Hell, I would NOT be surprised if Stoops would've been on the radar of NFL teams if he did an Urban Meyer-esque TV gig as opposed to just falling off the face of the Earth and living life in the shadows. Instead he re-emerges in the XFL as the GM and head coach of the Dallas Desperados. Stoops admittedly took this gig because of its proximity to his recruiting trails of the past and just general all around comfort with the area. Stoops was the prized announcement of the XFL, the first coach they revealed and put in the biggest football media market of the entire XFL league. Long story short? Bob Stoops was a rare coup for the XFL and he's being advertised and promoted as such. So much so in fact that when Stoops stopped appearing in XFL promotional material for a short spell, there were rumors that the XFL was going to lose the only drawing card it had with Stoops maybe making a move all the way up to the NFL for the Cowboys head coaching gig. The fact the XFL has Stoops gives it something the AAF never had; a familiar well liked face who isn't tired or old hat; the two knocks that basically hurt the AAF when Steve Spurrier was limping around on the sidelines for the Orlando Apollos.
The intrigue goes beyond JUST Bob Stoops as the Bob Stoops coaching staff is genuinely pretty ridiculous. If you love the Lincoln Riley and Mike Leach style offenses then you know of the name of Hal Mumme. Mumme is the father of most of the modern air raid offenses you see today, the likes of which that get mediocre-y college coaches like Kliff Kingsbury head coaching gigs in the NFL. Mumme is a bit of a college coaching legend with concepts that have bled into the highest levels of football. Stoops will be the offensive coordinator for Stoops' offense and with a few years away from the coaching circuit, I'm intrigued to see if Mumme has anything new left to offer. Defensively, Chris Woods and Jim Jeffcoat have long ties to Bob Stoops or Hal Mumme. The offense has a mastermind, the defense has a glut of former defensive coordinators and there's a damn good chance that Bob Stoops could turn a solid run in the XFL into a head coaching job elsewhere. Just keep an eye on the Desperados coaching staff as a potential breeding ground for coaches into the next level.
DC Defenders Name defensive talent = ???
It seems like the XFL is going to make it a lot harder for defenses to really play a meaningful part in the games with rules clearly designed to go for more of a high paced scoring first and foremost brand of play. That said, the DC Defenders do have some defensive talent to keep an eye on. They've got a name defensive line with guys like former Giants starter Jay Bromley, USC's Kenny Bigelow, Washington Huskie Elijah Qualls and a linebacking core with Arizona undersized legend Scooby Wright, former Atlanta Falcons player Jonathan Massaquoi and former Bills player and early retiree from football AJ Tarpley. In the secondary is where things really have "could play in the NFL potential" with former draft picks Jalen Myrick and Bradley Sylve and former starters Shamarko Thomas and Matt Elam at the safety spots. Most of the attention will be on former National Championship winner Cardale Jones at the QB spot with name weapons like Malachai Dupree and Rashad Ross but in truth, I'm curious to see if their defensive talents can find their way back into the NFL.
Houston Roughnecks Actual NFL name talent
Soooo yeah, let's take a second to talk about the Houston Roughnecks. There's a WEALTH of NFL level talent on here, if not in actual talent but in name value. We can start at the QB spot where the Roughnecks at the very least boast an interesting "What if?" scenario. Going into the 2016 NFL Draft, a lot of teams needed QBs and the draft boasted some really interesting ones. The top two were pretty much locked in (Carson Wentz and Jared Goff depending upon your preference) and Paxton Lynch seemed like a solid lock as the #3 QB. After that? Free for all! The likes of Cardale Jones, Dak Prescott, Jeff Driskel, Connor Cook, Nat Sudfield and Christian Hackenberg were all fighting for spots to try and eek themselves into that next tier. There was a belief of sorts that Cook was the leader in that clubhouse but concerns about his personality and how teammates viewed him at Michigan State dogged him all the way down to the 4th round. The Cowboys were going to take Cook (who they had as a late 2nd round pick on their draft board) but he got snagged up as the Raiders as a developmental QB behind Derek Carr. The Cowboys, not exactly heartbroken but not exactly thrilled, moved to taking Charles Tapper out of Oklahoma and then with their comp pick (thanks Eagles! Thanks DeMarco Murray!) picked Dak Prescott at the behest of their coaching staff, bucking scouts who had him behind Jeff Driskel. Dak Prescott will likely earn anywhere from 30 to 40 million next year and Cook is trying to carve out his path in the XFL after failed stints in Oakland, Cincinnati and Detroit. It's a fun "What If?" scenario to toss around while Cook can perhaps reset his career in the XFL.
Beyond Connor Cook? Houston boasts a kicker in Sergio Castillo who as an all star in 2019 and boasts an NFL quality leg potentially. Kickers come and go in the NFL and if Castillo is good then he probably has a chance to pop up somewhere. RB De'Angelo Henderson was a 7th round pick who has bounced around the NFL and figures to probably get similar looks as a 3rd round COP back somewhere if he's good in the league. Cam Phillips and Kahlil Lewis are former NFL camp bodies while Sammie Coates played in the NFL for the Pittsburgh Steelers. SS Marqueston Huff played in the NFL for a variety of teams and has a pedigree as a former 4th round pick. DL Kony Ealy, Gabe Wright and Walter Palmore could probably fill out the back end of an NFL defensive line rotation right now. There's some actual NFL talent lurking in these waters, even if most of it is probably training camp filler variety. Those guys still have merit!
LA Wildcats The Josh Johnson Situation
So let's chit chat a spell about this. Josh Johnson is one of those guys that seems to pop up once a year on an NFL roster. He's been in the league since the dying days of the Gruden Era in Tampa Bay, a former fifth round pick who carved out a career as a somewhat competent-ish back up. He bounced around, played in the United Football League (consider THAT one) and seemed set to flame out. When the Redskins brought Josh Johnson in in 2018 after injuries to Alex Smith and Colt McCoy, Johnson stepped into the starting role and actually played pretty well! Not well enough to get brought back but well enough to earn another shot in the NFL as a back up for the Detroit Lions. Johnson was let go and continued his playing days by adding onto the XFL. I think Josh Johnson is the only dude to play in all three short term gimmick leagues (the UFL, AAF and XFL) but that's not where our story ends. Injuries to Jeff Driskel and Matt Stafford opened the door to play the NFL again when the Lions came calling. Surprisingly the XFL refused to follow the AAF's lead and kept Johnson to his XFL deal, forcing him to pass on a Lions opportunity. Josh Johnson basically has to be the best QB in the league to justify the XFL's decision to force him to stay in the league. Otherwise they'll probably be looked at unfavorably by future players for robbing a guy of an NFL opportunity. Also keep an eye on Nelson Spruce to be a big third down guy who racks up 1st downs.
New York Guardians ???
So I've looked over the roster a bunch, taken a gander at the coaching staff and honestly? I mean I don't have anything. This team on paper is pretty boring with no real flashy star name value and a head coach and offensive coordinator in Kevin Gilbride who had his best years some fifteen years ago if not longer. I suppose there may be some interest in seeing former AAF names like Jamar Summers and Luis Perez do stuff? This team is boring but boring teams can win games and boring games can win championships. Just don't expect the Guardians on paper to be something you'll feel compelled to go out of your way to see. In a way the Guardians match up pretty well with Vince McMahon's current WWE product; a severe lack of storylines and star power that compel and force you to go out of your way to tune in on a weekly basis.
St. Louis Battlehawks Football is BACK in St. Louis!
The Rams left St. Louis for LA in 2016 and to be entirely honest, I'm not sure if it worked out any well for the NFL. Surely the Rams bring in more money and notoriety in theory but it sure feels like the Rams have not exactly caught on with the locals in LA who are clearly baseball fans during the summer/fall and basketball fans every other time else. The Rams boast a tremendous team and watching a city like Kansas City enjoying its first Super Bowl win (in the great state of Missouri or Kansas or Kansourri) has me wondering how much more fun the NFL would be if the Greatest Show On Turf stayed in St. Louis as opposed to venturing out west and had kept up the tradition of having two teams playing in a rather "small" market. The fans of St. Louis will get to show how much they support football when the Battlehawks take flight (Ugh) in a few days. The Battlehawks have an intriguing roster with plenty of Mizzou names on it like WRs L'Damian Washington and former TE turned WR Markus Lucas. They also have swagmaster Marquette King trying to rebuild his NFL case after his falling out in Oakland. To add to the madness, the Battlehawks boast the most QBs on any of the 52 man rosters in the XFL and are led by Ole Miss QB legend Jordan Ta'amu who is coming off a failed stint in the NFL. I still really like Ta'amu and think he's got developmental upside for what it's worth but that's neither here nor there.
Seattle Dragons Holy shit Jim Zorn is still around?
The Redskins have a rather....interesting history in the modern era. Outside of a few brief periods of success from the likes of Joe Gibbs and Mike Shanahan, the Redskins head coaching history is rather no bueno. Among those bodies lost to the annals of history you have Jim Zorn. Zorn was a bit of a QB whisperer for the likes of Mike Holmgren and Dennis Erickson before surprising folks by making a massive leap from QB coach to head coach for the Washington Redskins in a stunning move. Zorn's move went...about as well as you'd expect. Jim Zorn became the latest victim of Redskins incompetence and then sort of just disappeared. He coached QBs for a bit after getting fired and then became the NFL equivalent of a ghost. Well Jim Zorn's back and back in Seattle where he led Matt Hasselbeck to some insane-o Seahawks records. The Dragons roster overall isn't exactly must see as it's mostly AAF leftovers with the occasional 2019 UDFA but at the very least seeing if Jim Zorn can wash off the Redskins stench some 10+ years later might be a bit of fun.
Tampa Bay Vipers A Florida all star team
The Vipers have the world's most name recognizable pseudo all star squad in the entire XFL. With former Bears head coach Marc Trestman at the helm, the Vipers boast a wide array of talents from various schools in the state of Florida. Miami Hurricanes WR Stacy Coley, Florida OL Martez Ivey and TE DeAndre Goolsby, South Florida QB legend Quinton Flowers will be trying his hand at RB as well as FSU RB Jacques Patrick and DB DeMarcus McFadden. That doesn't even begin to cover the number of Central Florida, South Florida and FAU players on this team as well. Also Aaron Murray is here and it seems like people are still going to try and make him into a thing after being a 4th round pick back in 2015.

If You’re Gone (Girls Talk  Boys part 32)
Tumblr media
I think I've already lost you I think you're already gone I think I'm finally scared now You think I'm weak, I think you're wrong
If you're gone, maybe it's time to come home There's an awful lot of breathing room But I can hardly move If you're gone, baby you need to come home, come home There's a little bit of something me In everything in you
Ashton got to Cal's about 20 minutes after Cher texted him. He knocked but when he got  no answer he opened the door and let himself in, the place was a wreck. Calum had flipped his coffee table over slinging things across the room and he'd  kicked a hole in the drywall by his front door. Ashton carefully made his way around the mess hearing Calum upstairs. He saw the refrigerator door open and went to close it before heading up noticing the whiskey Calum had just bought was not there.
Ashton jogged up the stairs and peeked into Calum's bedroom. Seeing no sign of man or beast as he made his way down the hall. Calum had a 2 bedroom unit and had turned the second room into a gym/music room. He was sitting at his piano with his back to the door and Duke at his feet half slurring half singing “If You’re Gone” by Matchbox 20. Ashton shook his head, he knew this was gonna be a mess. He put a hand on Calum's shoulder causing him to look up with a tear streaked face and unfocused eyes.
“What happened?” Ashton hadn't ever seen Cal look this dejected.
“I fucked up,” Calum hung his head and sniffled fighting back tears again scooting over so Ashton could sit next to him.
“Did Camille break up with you? Cal I don't understand what's going on,” Ashton was puzzled.
“I acted like a complete asshole towards Camille, and she's probably never going to speak to me again. She's already blocked my number on her phone and all her social media,” Calum slumped against his shoulder and reached for the bottle before Ashton grabbed it.
“Getting sick everywhere won't make you feel better tomorrow” Ashton told him taking a swig himself draping his arm across his friend as Calum alternated between babbling and crying trying to explain the fight with Camille.
Cher pulled into the airport's unloading zone and took a deep breath. Both women had been crying as Camille told Cher everything that went down. Camille was devastated by the argument  and pissed beyond words but Cher knew she had the ability to compartmentalize and decide she wasn't dealing with Calum right now. With him deleted and blocked she had to focus on work and put her personal life on hold until she got back. Cher had always admired Camille's ability to just that, but also knew it was her way of avoiding dealing with her problems. She helped Camille with her bags and gave her a hug.
“You're gonna be great Cam, don't let this shit get to you. Calum knows he fucked up,” Cher cupped Camille's face in her hands sharing the sadness in her friend's eyes.
With a flash the sorrow vanished and Camille was angry and again Cher knew she was more comfortable being mad,  as Camille didn't do sadness well.
“Are you guys done? He thinks you broke up with him,” Cher asked her.
“No I mean, I don't think so. He really fucked up and pulling this right now made it so much worse. I'll deal with it when I get back. Thank you for texting Ashton to go check on him,” Camille shook the thoughts out of her head and put her game face on.
“I'll see you when you get back,” Cher gave her another quick hug before waving to Stephen who was already waiting for Camille in the terminal.
Before Camille made it to the escalator to head up to check in her phone dinged. Cher had sent her a $10 Starbucks gift card knowing Camille needed a pick me up.
Cher checked her messages seeing two missed calls from Calum and a text from Ashton.
Cal's drinking and in a bad way. I'm gonna stay over here at least until he passes out. He tried to call you, Camille has him blocked. Did they really break up?
Cher answered him
Camille won't talk to him until she gets back. He acted like a complete asshole and I don't want to talk to him either. Camille hasn't decided what to do yet I'll explain later.
Ashton set his phone down. “The girls don't want to talk to you right now.”
Calum nodded, he was now sitting on the floor with his knees pulled to his chest. Duke kept nudging at him and Calum would almost smile. Ashton had gotten some of the story out of him but Calum couldn't bring himself to repeat the worst he'd said. After a couple hours of drinking and listening to sad songs Ashton put him to bed and texted Cher.
I'm staying here tonight. I hope Camille is ok, Calum is too upset to talk about it but he knows he's wrong
Cher smiled and messaged back
Thank you for not defending him but still supporting him. I'll see you tomorrow daddy
Ashton chuckled and squeezed his dick through his pants glad this fight between their best friends wasn't coming between them.
Calum had spent two days holed up with his laptop and journal in his music room with Duke. Ashton checked up on him but they didn't talk much as Calum was watching the all the ProFantasySports live streams and scribbling down song ideas. Calum was laid out on the floor with his laptop watching Camille's interview on SportsTalk and Ashton was fiddling around on the piano when they both jumped at the sound of the front door slamming.
Footsteps came thundering up the stairs before Luke burst into the room.
“What the hell is wrong with you?!” Luke was angry and accusing.
Calum flinched at his words and Ashton stood up “Luke you don't know the whole story,” he said trying to calm him down.
“Actually I do, I was on the phone with her last night because she couldn't sleep,” Luke fumed. “He basically accused her of lying, wanting to cheat on him with her ex, and, this is the best part, accused her of using sex to get ahead in her career.”
Ashton was stunned and Calum couldn't meet their eyes, his face burning with shame.
“The worst part is the timing of it. Camille feels like you’re trying  to sabotage her job. You need to figure out your insecurities and your jealousy because while she's going to forgive you this time, you will lose her if you keep it up,” Luke sat down and his expression softened. “I know you love her. I want to see you guys make it.”
“What did you come back from your vacation with Summer just to yell at him?” Ashton asked slightly annoyed.
“Did you and Summer have a good time?” Calum asked.
“Yes, thank you. We're really good right now” Luke replied. “I'm not here to fight. I'm here to help you get your girl back.”
“Wait did you say she forgave him?” Ashton asked.
“No she hasn't yet but she wants to. He needs to convince her, and we're going to help.”
The party was going strong but Camille wasn't really having fun. She'd escorted the contest winners around from breakfast, a day in the NFL Zone meeting players and testing their pass, punt, and catching skills before ending the day at a charity dinner. She'd promised Brandon Pearcy she'd drop by his party tonight and Stephen agreed to tag along. Being a sports agent Brandon had gone all out, he had clients on both the Rams and the Patriots so they'd split house down the middle, blue and gold on one side with silver, red and blue on the other. The food was themed accordingly, New England had lobster rolls, crab cakes, fried clams, Greek pizza, fluffer nutter sandwiches and whoopie pies. L.A. served up french dip sandwiches, Pink's chili cheese dogs, Pho, shrimp tacos, chicken and waffles and rice krispie treat chocolate chip cookies.
Brandon was always friendly and introduced her to several big name players. Rob Gronkowski, Tony Gonzalez, Calvin Johnson, Cam Newton and even Odell Beckham Jr who was extremely good looking and very flirty. People were snapping and posting pics and Camille couldn't shake the feeling she was doing something wrong.
“Camille,” a familiar voice was at her side and she looked up to see Quentin standing there.
She jerked back, panicking when he put his hand on her arm.
“Easy now, baby girl I didn't mean to scare you.” Camille relaxed seeing the concern on his face.
“Sorry I was lost in thought. You scared me.” Camille put her hand on her chest.
“You looked miserable,” he told her with a laugh before she noticed his eyes catch something across the room distracting him for a second.
Before she could turn around his attention was back on her “I know this is a work event for you but come hit this blunt,” he spoke quietly leading her out to a side patio where several people were smoking.
Camille took a puff and Quentin leaned down to talk to her.
“You need to leave this party. Brandon is going to make a move on you and he can be very aggressive and very nasty if he doesn't get his way.”
“Q, why are you telling me this? You think I can't handle myself?” Camille kept smiling and her voice low.
“Please trust me this one time, this will get ugly if you stay. His dealer just showed up and Brandon on cocaine It's something you don't want to see. It's only 9:30 my dude was just talking about getting out of here and hitting up this bar he knows that's got some decent food, you should go with the girls. I'll tell Brandon you're fighting with your boyfriend and left.” Quentin stopped when she looked surprised and hurt. “Damn I'm sorry, I was just making shit up. I'll go get your boy Stephen and we'll turn this night around.”
Quentin went back into the party and Camille found herself being surrounded and hustled out of the house by three women she'd just met.
They stopped once they got to the driveway and one of them began laughing “Well that was dramatic.” She stuck her hand out “Hi, I'm Brittany. This is Shay and that's Megan.”
“Nice to meet y'all. I'm still a bit confused as to what just happened,” Camille shook her hand.
Stephen, Quentin and three other guys were right behind them. Camille recognized two of them as  NFL players Patrick and Von. The other one, Jalen, she knew personally from her guest appearances on his ESPN show “Two Minute Warning.”
They ended up at Vortex for burgers before finding a silly karaoke bar. For the first time since she'd arrived in Atlanta she was actually having fun. Camille wasn't even worried about posting pics to Instagram, let Calum be mad. She wasn't doing anything wrong and if he couldn't see that then he had to go. Of course the thought of actually breaking up with him made her feel like someone knocked the wind out of her. She blocked that thought almost as soon as it popped into her head.
Tonight was her night with her new friends. Quentin left before midnight to make the teams curfew the rest of the group stay till closing at 3am. Camille had to be up at 11 AM to appear on Two Minute Warning in a surprise guest appearance. Camille texted Cher the details before getting some much needed sleep.
Cher hadn't ever had a Super Bowl party without Camille which made it really weird. Camille usually went all out with a Tex Mex taco bar but Cher went instead with pizza and chicken wings. It was the first time Cher had seen Calum since he stormed out of her house the night of the fight. She was pleased to see he looked like hell. He deserved it for making her best friend cry. Aside from that everyone seemed to be in a decent mood. They all cheered through Camille's segment where she dissected, correctly as it turned out, just how and why the Patriots would win. Everybody was in a great mood, and then the game started.
“Be serious, that game was a fucking snooze Camille joked with Stephen as they presented their boarding passes to go home.
“The halftime show was worse than I thought it would be,” Stephen responded. “Both Sicko Mode and Sweet Victory deserved better.”
Camille laughed but then the Dramamine kicked in and she knocked out for the flight. Cher picked her up at the terminal.
“I hope you know Calum went all out for your return,” Cher warned her as they drove home.
“Mmmm we'll see,” Camille tried not to smile.
“Are you still mad?” Cher asked her.
“Yes, but I really missed him,” Camille sighed.
Walking in she immediately saw the place was filed with pink roses. She headed upstairs to her room and saw tulips strewn out on her bed with an envelope in the center.
Opening it she recognized Calum's messy handwriting and sat down on her bed to read.
My Darling Camille,
There is no excuse for how I treated you and I can't tell you how deeply ashamed and sorry I am. You are the best thing that has happened to me and I'm so afraid of losing you. I've already put you through so much I feel like an asshole asking you to forgive me. I should've never acted like you had to choose between me or your job. Your career is your life the same way mine is and that was completely unfair. You love what you do, you're brilliant, funny and I am so proud of everything you've accomplished. I didn't mean to act like you ever have to choose and I'm truly sorry.
The rest of what I said is completely inexcusable. I lost my mind for a second and lashed out at you and while there's no taking back what I said please know that I didn't mean it. I never thought you would cheat on me. My jealousy is all on me and I'm an absolute twat for behaving like that.
I know words are empty unless they're followed by changed behavior. I want us to really talk this out and I want to be more open with you. I've never been good at expressing my feelings but I want this to work. I want us to work. I have more to say but I'd really like to do it in person. Please give me another chance.
Yours Always
   Calum
Luke watched as Calum paced back and forth staring at his phone. It had been almost an hour since they'd seen Cher's car come back from the airport. Calum was sweating and looked nauseous. There was a knock at the door and Luke saw Calum slump in relief when he answered.
“I thought we should talk,” Camille said before she saw Luke “hey peanut, are you guys busy?”
“NO,” both men answered in unison.
“I talk to you guys later,” Luke gave Camille a quick kiss on the cheek and quickly left.
Camille found herself wrapped up tightly in Calum's arms the second the door closed.
“Camille I am so sorry. I'm an idiot and an asshole. Please don't leave me, I want to be better for you.” Calum was trying not to lose it, barely choking out the words.
They stood there like that, both of them crying together, his face buried in her hair and her face pressed to his chest. Until Camille finally had to pull free because she was all stuffy. Returning from the bathroom wiping her eyes she found Calum splashing his face with cold water at the sink. She came up behind him hugging his waist before he turned and picked her up setting her on the counter.
He looked her in her eyes, “so are we ok?”
Camille nodded, “yes but this can't happen again. Mistakes will be made and this won't be our last fight, but I don't want to keep having the same fight. Respect is the minimum I expect from you. My job is going to get hectic next fall and you're going back on the road. We're going to have enough problems without creating new ones for no reason. I need you to talk to me., I need you to trust me. You're so good at hiding your feelings babe, I never thought about you being insecure. I look at you and see Calum Hood: this gorgeous rock star who I'm lucky enough to be with. I can't imagine you'd ever think you weren't enough.” Camille brushed his curls off his face and stroked his jaw.
“I just think you're amazing and you could do better than me,” Calum couldn't meet her eyes now. “Honestly you could do better than most of the guys you're around. None of them are good enough for you either.”
“You saw the pictures?” Camille asked.
Calum nodded looking guilty. “I watched all your live streams and checked your Insta and Twitter constantly.”
“And?” Camille raised her eyebrows.
“And it was the first time I saw you smile since you got to Atlanta. I'm a complete dickhead for ruining your trip. I'm glad you got to have some fun,” Calum met her eyes again. “I have a surprise for you if you'll come upstairs.”
“Calum we are not jumping into bed. I couldn't anyways,” Camille laughed before giving him a light kiss on the lips.
“No come upstairs to the music room,” Calum put her back on the floor and pulled at her sleeve.
She followed him upstairs and he sat her in a chair before getting behind his piano. He cleared his throat and Camille could see he was nervous but once he started to play and sing Camille was left in awe of his talents.
I was just coastin' Never really goin anywhere Caught up in a web I was gettin kinda used to stayin' there And out of the blue I fell for you
Now you're lifting me up, instead of holding me down Stealing my heart instead of stealing my crown Untangled all the strings round my wings that were tied I didn't know her and I didn't know me Cloud nine was always out of reach Now I remember what it feels like to fly You give me butterflies
Kiss full of color makes me wonder where you've always been I was hiding in doubt till you brought me out of my chrysalis And I came out new All because of you
Now you're lifting me up instead of holding me down Stealing my heart instead of stealing my crown Untangled all the strings round my wings that were tied I didn't know her and I didn't know me Cloud nine was always out of reach Now I remember what it feels like to fly You give me butterflies, yeah You give me butterflies
Now you're lifting me up instead of holding me down You're taking my hand instead of taking my crown Untangled all the strings round my wings that were tied I didn't know you and I didn't know me Cloud nine was always out of reach Now I remember what it feels like to fly You give me butterflies You give me butterflies
“Calum, that was beautiful,” Camille was trying not to cry.
Calum motioned for her to come sit in his lap and when she did he kissed her and looked her in the eye. “I'm sorry for everything. I love you and don't want to lose you.”
“Calum do you know what you just said?” Camille was stunned.
“Yes,” he was smiling at her his eyes bright. “I love you my darling Camille, my everything, my queen.”
“I love you too Calum,” Camille had more to say but it was smothered by his kiss.

To the Dallas Mavericks front office, don’t do it
Okay sometimes you have to make a move, find a trade, improve the team, but right now the Mavericks may not be the top contender or have the highest chance to win the title, but what is a truly productive move for the Mavericks right now?
I know some people are saying we may lose Jalen Brunson or Dorian Finney Smith or both in free agency this summer and so we must trade so not to get anything for them this summer. Yet, why lose the chemistry of having them right now when we can try to sign them this summer or at least get our own free agents to replace them.
Sometimes you have to go with the team you have because you are not going to get some astronomical difference by trading. I have said before, do not make a checkers move. Moving pieces to move pieces doesn’t always mean improvement.
I think the Mavericks are on an uptick and we can get better with Jalen and Dorian staying with us. Sure the Mavericks lost Tim Hardaway Jr., yet there are potential people on the bench that can replace the points he put up each game. And quite frankly maybe even do a bit better. Tim wasn’t having his best year so playing Sterling Brown and Trey Burke his minutes may not be a bad thing. Just don’t have Trey and Jalen on the Court together for any significant minutes, not because they aren’t good together, just because the other teams could put two bigger guards up against them and create an unnecessary disadvantage.
When you rest the two starters, Luka and Jalen one by one, you could put Sterling with Jason and Trey with Luka. Not a title winner contender move, but the chemistry and effort is already there on this team so make the adjustments as necessary and these two guard rotations for short bursts could be beneficial due to the potential scoring bursts Sterling and Trey could offer while on the floor. Tim was not the best defender on the team so we are not losing that much on that side of the equation anyway. You keep Dorian, Reggie Bullock and Maxi Kleber rotating into these lineups and you should do well.
The only change you need to make is to find some athletic big that is a bit bigger than Dwight Powell to back up Kristaps Porzingas. And you might find someone to fit that bill without giving up too much.
The goal for the rest of the season is to keep Luka, KP, Jalen, Dorian, Maxi, Reggie, followed by Dwight, Sterling, Trey, then Josh Green, Frank Ntilikina and Moses Brown as your long term projects hoping one or both becomes the next Dorian in value (and Josh is starting to touch on that), and finally Marquese Chris and Theo Pinson who are also projects, but have not been on the team long enough for the rest to feel the loss if they get traded. Boban is on a island when it comes to value. He is more than just a player so losing him would actually mean you better be getting someone serious in return. Otherwise keep him for the value he brings to the team as a whole. His situation is truly unique and he needs to remain.
Tim Hardaway would have been a good trade chip even though he is well respected within the team. His production this year though was hurting the product on the floor so even though losing him would have had some psychological repercussions, if you received value back it would have been worth it. Now that he is injured, trading him is out of the question. Hopefully next year he can regroup and get back to being a more consistent scorer.
Again unless you bring back some other worldly talent, trading any of the top tier players even with the free agency situation will not be a productive move for the rest of the year. Time to let the chips and cards lie, go all in on what you have and hope for the best. The team is getting better and every year is different so no reason to make a change to make a change.
So if we make any change it is to bring in a bit more beef in the 5 position that can play and trading one of the projects hurts, but if the talent is there it might be worth it. Think about running out a mix of starters and 6th man quality players with new Center, KP at 4, Maxi, Dorian or Reggie at the small forward and then mixing up the guard rotations mentioned above and you have a a great flow into the bench that would eventually lead to Trey at the 1, Sterling the Shooting guard, Dorian or Reggie again at the small forward with Maxi and Dwight at the 4 and 5. This creates depth nightmares for opposing coaches and we could go into the playoffs with a ten deep rotation. Not too many teams can do that. All this after starting Luka, KP, Jalen, Dorian and are you ready for this Reggie. Yes flanking three great scorers with two damn good 3 and D guys, and why does anyone want the Mavericks to make a trade.
And honestly I like Dwight and he deserves the minutes, but we get killed with certain centers in the Association so having someone who can at least body up and play against them for 2-3 minutes a quarter just rounds out the team real well. So the above rotations are based on who we play against, but it gives us the most flexibility of just about any team out there.
Cheers

Mac Jones went from child model to the NFL’s hottest rookie QB
Tumblr media
Source: AP Photo/Matt Rourke
What can’t Mac Jones do?
The New England Patriots look like they have their quarterback of the future. Rookie QB Mac Jones has been the talk of the NFL after leading New England to four straight wins.
Last Sunday, Jones’ had a remarkable performance that was eye-opening to many. The rookie managed to complete 19-of-23 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns, his first three-TD game in the NFL, as his New England Patriots blew out the Cleveland Browns.
Jones’ early success has surprised many. He was the last of the five first round quarterbacks taken in the 2021 NFL Draft. He didn’t have a rocket arm like Zach Wilson, the polish of Trevor Lawrence, or the athleticism of Justin Fields. But he’s playing the best out of any rookie regardless after beating out Cam Newton for the starting job in camp.
No other rookie quarterback has finished a game with a passer rating over 100 all season. Jones has done it five times already.
The Kansas City Chiefs’ Tyrann Mathieu has noticed people flip-flop their opinions on him and call it out.
Mac Jones wasn’t trendy enough for y’all at first huh now y’all love him…. Man, y’all funny!!! Day in and day out!!! Y’all should be on Comedy Central
— Tyrann Mathieu (@Mathieu_Era) November 16, 2021
Jones currently has the Patriots in the playoff picture at 6-4. At this point, even his most ardent skeptics during the draft have to admit he’s been effective as a rookie QB.
Maybe NFL fans shouldn’t be so surprised. In his time at Alabama, he was a star on and off the field. He graduated in just three years with a degree in Communications, along with finishing with a 4.0 grade point average. The following school year, he continued to play at Alabama while completing a Master’s degree in Sports Management, and still managed to graduate with a perfect GPA.
Let’s not forget he was named a consensus All-American and was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, in addition to earning the Davey O’Brien, Johnny Unitas Golden Arm, and Manning Awards.
He followed behind former starting quarterbacks, Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa. Last week, the Roll Tide trio were winners in the same week for the first time since they all went pro.
And if that doesn’t tell you how talented of a guy he is, did you know his first job was as a child model & actor?
Asked on @MerloniFauria about his first job, Mac Jones said he was a child model. “There are a few commercials you can try and find.”

Of course, the internet found the pictures:

— Evan Valenti (@EvanValenti) November 15, 2021
Jones talked to ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit ahead of the draft about his child modeling career.
“My parents always wanted me to try stuff,” Jones shared. “They never really pushed me into sports, which is really cool. So I tried modeling [and] acting.”
Meet the #49ers' top #NFLDraft prospects at QB: Let's follow the rumors and start with Mac Jones out of Alabama, who used to be a -- child model? https://t.co/k4uDgVuTHq pic.twitter.com/XT5gyyPtPt
— ABC7 News (@abc7newsbayarea) April 28, 2021
Aside from being a charming kid star, Jones is definitely a jack of all trades. It won’t come as a surprise to see him as Rookie of The Year candidate, as he’s undoubtedly only getting better from here.
