ahh yess
could you please write something where claire finds the reader in an alley in wilmington? the reader is hurt and claire wants to bring her back to the ridge for treatment. maybe during recovery reader confesses they have no family/home.
i love a bit of angst
So this was VERY delayed, and I do apologize for that! But I hope that it's okay, it's my first time writing any kind of "reader" fic as I said before, so this is more practice than anything haha
TW: Assault/Referenced Assault (? If there are any other triggers you think need to be added, just let me know!)
Your side was aching with every shallow breath you tried to take, and damn if you tried a deeper one; it felt as though your skin was being torn apart and burned. You didn't dare to look down. There was something wet and sticky and cold where your fingers pressed against the torn fabric of your dress, and you knew what that meant without needing to see the vibrant colour for yourself.
'It's okay,' you whispered, nodding shakily. 'It's okay. You're okay. It doesn't hurt that much really. Just don't think about the pain and it'll go away. It's all in your head.'
The desire to close your eyes for just a moment was so tempting, and you could already feel your body sagging with the relief of giving in. Maybe a quick rest would help. Perhaps you just needed to take a moment, let your mind settle and your body recover from the...
Yes. That makes sense. And then, when you felt better, you could use the wall to push yourself up and see if you could get out of the alley. There were buildings close enough. Perhaps somewhere with a nice, comfortable bed. Silk sheets. So soft under your hot, sweaty skin. Pillows so plump that your head would just sink into them like a cloud.
There, you thought sleepily as the brick wall faded into a nice black sky of twinkling stars, the pain is already leaving. A few moments to get your strength back was all you needed.
Your heart stuttered you awake again what felt like an hour later to a chilling cold pressing down on your skin. For the briefest fevered moment, you swore you were afloat in the river. It was the only explanation for how bone-chilling cold, and numb and wet you felt.
'--hear me?' a voice asked suddenly, startling you into a panic.
Your eyes shot open and you tried to get up right away. Only, you found you barely had the strength to twitch a finger, and a strong hand held fast to your shoulder, keeping you pinned in place. Connected to it was a middle-aged woman, dark hair swept back behind her shoulders, and worry lines creasing her forehead.
'No, don't move,' she commanded.
She needn't have bothered issuing such a warning, though. Your entire body was vibrating. Rattling with such force that you felt as though your ribs were knocking together and cracking inside of you. Beneath them, your heart was being shaken around.
'Can you hear me?' the woman repeated the question she had been trying to ask you before, and you managed to nod this time but not much else. She nodded back, satisfied. 'Good. You're conscious. That means you're not dead.'
Was she sure? You definitely didn't feel alive. In fact, you didn't feel much at all. Were you floating? Had you left your body but were still aware of everything happening back on the ground as you travelled up to the gates in the sky?
The woman had clearly said something else that you didn't catch as she gave you a hard shake and grabbed your chin with one hand, roughly forcing you back down into your body.
'Hey, stay focused on me,' she demanded. 'Got it? Keep listening to me. Now, I need you to tell me what you were attacked with. Because I am seeing a lot of blood, but I'm not sure where it's coming from without removing your dress.'
Blood. Your mind flashed through the att... A face came before your eyes, teeth bared. Your stomach recoiled fiercely and you were winded all over again, struck by an invisible blow.
You tried to answer her, but between the lack of air and your tongue being ten sizes too big to fit in your mouth, you couldn't get anything out.
'Alright, no, that's okay,' she said, with a suddenly much softer voice. You faintly registered fingers stroking some hair from your cheek (thank the lord, it was so sticky with sweat and the feel of wet hair on your skin made you want to crawl out of your body entirely) as she soothed your whimpers. 'You don't need to answer. Okay, here's what we're going to do. I'm going to help you stand, okay?'
There was no time to think about if you even could stand or not. She was already positioning you, shifting your weakened body as carefully as she could. Every little movement still felt like a thousand knives to your gut and spine and head.
Sweat was pouring heavier from you by the time it took for her to get you wobbling onto your feet, even with her taking most of your weight. It didn't feel worth it. The ground was much more comfortable than this, even if it was rough and hard. At least you weren't at risk of falling flat on your face.
The effort of trying to remain upright was too much. Stars began popping up in front of your eyes, and suddenly the weight had lifted from your body entirely. You were floating. Made of cotton and cloud, your sense filled with a gush of soothing air that went straight to your head, and let you fall comfortably into slumber.
***
The first thing to catch your attention was the voices. They were too close, but still too quiet. Whispering back and forth like you weren't even there. It would take much more effort than you could muster to hear what they were actually talking about, but you picked up on the worried tone of the room well enough.
All you wanted was to go back to sleep. It was peaceful there. Here, a dull ache was settling into your stomach, and growing the more you thought about it which you couldn't now stop. You squeezed your eyes tighter together in the hopes that it would help.
It was no use. You were only getting steadily more uncomfortable as the seconds passed by, and the voices were starting to become clearer. Neither of them was entirely familiar. A surge of panic shot through you.
Should you move? Would you even be able to? Something in the back of your mind was screaming that you wouldn't. But then what were your options? It didn't feel like there were many at all with how twisted around and wrong your insides felt, not to mention the searching headache that was collecting behind your eyes.
Maybe you should start there, you thought with a bit more confidence. At least if you could get a glimpse of where you were or these people, you may have a better idea of how to get away. Assuming these people were holding you were against your will, of course. The last thing you could remember was the attack.
Oh, Lord. Your heart sped into a flurry of panic as you began automatically mentally reciting prayers. Just as you had done when you realized what was about to happen when you heard the noise behind you in the alley. Your eyes were filling rapidly at the realization that if it was indeed your previous attacker in the room right now, you had even less chance of escaping this time around. After all, you had been fully conscious and able-bodied then and still couldn't get away. What were you supposed to do in whatever state you were currently in?
You begged yourself not to cry or make a noise, fearing it would alert the people in the room. Fingers curling tightly into the nearest thing -- something soft and quilt-like -- it was already too late as a heaving sob tore at your throat and escaped from your mouth. You quickly opened your eyes and turned your head as the voices abruptly stopped.
Your memories were foggy so it was hard to recall details about your attacker. But as your eyes focused on the woman who rushed to your bedside the moment you made a noise, there was a pull of familiarity at the back of your mind. Something about her. You had seen her before.
That only made you cry harder, more certain now than before that you were doomed. You had to get away. You had to try.
Movement equalled pain. Searing pain that ripped through your stomach and lungs and made it hard to breathe. Somehow you ended up on the floor, trying to push yourself to your hands and knees only to collapse against the hard floor when your abdomen clenched excruciatingly.
"Jamie, help me get her back onto the bed," you heard someone (you presumed the woman from the firm but feminine nature of the voice) say, and then felt hands grasp your arms. You tried to resist and the woman snapped, "Stop, you're going hurt yourself!"
"Please!" you begged, finding your throat raw and painful, causing your voice to crack when you tried to speak. "Just let me go!"
You writhed and squirmed harder as the hands pulled you to your feet with considerable ease, and you tried to lodge your elbow back as hard as you could into what you hoped would be some soft flesh. There was a grunt of acknowledgement but it only resulted in a thick, muscled arm wrapping firmer around your body to keep you contained.
"Jamie, don't hurt her," the woman commanded.
"Tryin' ma best, Sassenach," a rougher, far deeper voice grunted in your ear. Then to you, he said, "We're tryin' tae help ya, lass. If I let you go, yer no gonna last two seconds oan yer feet. Just get on the bed, and a give ye ma word I'll let ye loose. Agreed?"
You weren't sure you could believe him. Your eyes met the woman in front of you. She gave you a gentle smile and nodded assuringly that it was the truth. You were beginning to remember her. The alley. She found you.
Out of exhaustion more than obedience, you stopped fighting. With some help from the two of them, you were able to get back onto the bed, and true to his word, the man quickly retracted his hands and took a few steps back to give you some distance. Finally, you were able to get a look at him.
While you couldn't rule out that the two of them might be working with your attacker, you were certain that neither of them had an actual hand in it in the alley. It was definitely a man, but you would have remembered the shock of red hair had it been the one in front of you right now.
"Right." The woman came up to your side and looked down at you with a serious expression. "You can understand everything I'm saying, correct?" You nodded and she seemed pleased with the answer. "You're not delirious then. Good. And how is your memory? You know your own name, I assume?"
You nodded again, a little more confident this time. You only seemed to be confirming what she already knew.
"And..." she hesitated now, eyes flicking down to where you suddenly remembered you had been bleeding out from quite recently. Her voice softened in a way that surprised you.  "Can you recall anything? From the attack?"
Attack. Attacked. That's what you were. It was all real, not just some horrifically vivid nightmare. Turning the corner as the footsteps matched your own, speeding up with the quickly dwindling hope that you might be able to reach the other end and make a run for it. You had opened your mouth in preparation, ready to scream at the top of your lungs and pray that someone might take pity and intervene rather than turn a blind eye.
Cold, rough hands. The dull blade. Searing pain.
You closed your eyes tightly and shook your head, pushing the heels of your hands deep into your sockets to block out the assaulting images. The woman was speaking again in that soft voice. Soothing words of safety, assurances that you didn't have to say anything, an offer to simply rest until you felt better.
When you wouldn't stop crying and were bordering on hysterical, screaming until your throat felt as torn as your stomach, the woman carefully take your wrists in either hand and pulled your hands from your face. Your eyes opened in a panic and you stared up at her in fear.
"You are safe," the woman told you, looking directly into your eyes and speaking slow. "Do you understand? My name is Claire Fraser, and that man is my husband, Jamie Fraser. I am a doctor. I found you in the alley in Wilmington, you were bleeding out, but I got my husband to help me bring you back with us to our home so that I could heal you properly. You are in no danger."
You took a few staggering breaths. Claire nodded slowly as she saw you begin to calm down, no matter how slowly. Her already loose grip on your wrists loosened further, and you now felt the small circular motion of her thumbs against your bones.
"You don't..." You swallowed hard, fearful that your question would lead to an answer you didn't want to hear. "You just found me? You don't know the man who...?"
The words felt like broken glass in your mouth. And you'd experienced that before. It was no more pleasant metaphorically.
Claire shook her head with a mournful expression, and she slowly lowered herself to perch on the edge of the bed. "No. I have no idea who did this to you. My husband and I were walking past the alley when I thought I saw something move. I went to check. Which is where I found you, in need of medical assistance."
"Am I going to die?" you whispered shakily, tears already brimming in your eyes again.
To your relief, she smiled. "No. You're not going to die."
Maybe it was stupid of you to take a stranger at their word without further question, but you were too exhausted to stir up doubt and suspicion. For once, you simply wanted to give in to the feeling of safety. Perhaps it would be short-lived, but that wasn't your problem right now.
The man, Jamie, said something too fast and low for you to understand, but Claire nodded and waved him off. He left the room with a last glance at you. It felt strangely warm and comforting. There was something about the way he looked at you that felt like understanding. A kind of sympathy that could only come from a place of experience.
"Right," Claire said, the soft tone of her voice turning a tad more formal. "I need to have a look at your stomach, to see how the wound's healing. And your dressings will need to be changed soon, as well as further cleaning to prevent any chance of infection."
You were beginning to panic again. You simply nodded a go-ahead for her to inspect the wound.
While she was gently peeling away the dressing from your tender skin, you watched her work and tried not to think about what would happen if she said you were fine to leave. Where were you supposed to go? You were barely surviving as it was, and going back out onto the streets of Wilmington left you with a heavy sense of dread inside of you.
It could happen again. And you may not have anyone to find you this time.
"Where are we?" you asked, blanking on whether or not she had already told you.
"My home," Claire simply responded, then thankfully lifted her eyes to meet yours with another slight smile and elaborated, "Fraser's Ridge. We're still in North Carolina, don't worry."
"Fraser's Ridge," you repeated. You thought you might have heard of the place before. You winced as Claire prodded your stomach, then muttered something that sounded like a different language entirely. Is it just you and your husband who live here?"
"And our kids." Claire returned to your side after briefly getting up to collect something from a drawer. It looked like more white fabric. "And their kids, and many other people. We built this ridge as a place for people to be able to come if they have nowhere else to go." Her gaze felt like a warm blanket. "Anyone is welcome."
Anyone. You were anyone, you supposed. You bit your tongue and kept quiet as she went back to attending to your stomach.
Some time passed in silence. When you winced again as a dull throbbing pulsed through your abdomen briefly, Claire apologised and hurried her work while simultaneously steadying herself so as not to hurt you further. She was kind from what you could tell, even if a bit intimidating.
"This is going to hurt," she warned regretfully as she pulled out some more white fabric and poured a generous amount of some liquid onto it. Seeing you eye it warily, she explained, "It's to keep the wound clean."
It stung the moment it touched you. You couldn't bite your tongue. You cursed and then immediately flushed with embarrassment at losing your manners. To your surprise, Claire laughed. Loud and unladylike, for sure.
"Good sentiments," she joked, and continue to talk to you as she cleaned you up. "So, where are you from? Are you only visiting North Carolina or do you live here?"
You shook your head. "I only got here a few days ago. I'm not really from anywhere." You bit the inside of your cheek hard until the sharp sting passed, then gently released it and ignored the metallic tang on your tongue. "After my mother and my older sister died, I didn't have anywhere to go. So," you shrugged one shoulder, "I've just been trying to find somewhere. It's hard, though. There aren't many places willing to take me in. Well. Not without... it benefiting them."
You didn't have to elaborate. Claire understood. You averted her eyes from her pained gaze, picking at a bit of lint on the bedsheet beneath you. You felt her finish cleaning your wound, and you ignored the dull throbbing pulse.
"If you wanted to," Claire started after a moment or so of quiet, pulling the gown you were clothed in back down over your stomach and covering you back up with a sheet, "you could stay here."
Instantly, your mind was flooded with the idea. Not having to worry about where you would sleep that night, or the next. Having a kind face everywhere you went. You even knew some things about tending to food and plants, so you could work in exchange for them allowing you to stay if needed.
It was such a fantastical dream that you had to quickly ground yourself back in reality.
"Really?" you asked timidly, hoping you didn't sound too hopeful in case she was about to take the offer back. "I have no money. And I'm not exactly pure, so I can't really--"
"That doesn't matter," Claire swiftly interjected, shutting down your protests. She gently took your hand and gave it an encouraging squeeze, then shook her head meaningfully. "You don't have to give us anything."

Flying has never been your favorite thing, and as you begin your descent over London, you’re reminded of the last time you’d flown this far. You’d been seventeen, alone and anxious and on your way to Chelsea, brimming with excitement over finally reaching your dream.
Not even seven months later you were on your way home, ligaments torn and joints aching in a way you’ll never get rid of.
Now, sitting for so long makes your hips cramp and your knees lock and you can feel your ankle swell and pulsate with pain. You know your back would start cramping if you weren’t landing, so you have something small to be thankful for. Really, you’re just lucky that you have a few days to recover before training begins.
It hits you how pathetic it is that you, a professional footballer, need to recover from a plane ride. You try not to let it bother you, try not to wallow in self pity and hatred the way you did when you were 17, laying on your mother’s couch post-op and believing your life was over.
If only you could see yourself now, on your way to join the brand new AFC Richmond women’s team.
The idea of leaving the US was nerve-wracking, but you simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to play in England again, to try one more time to achieve a dream you’d had since you were a little girl. It was so clear that everyone you talked with truly believed in creating a space for women, to support them and push the sport forward, and that starting a women’s team wasn’t simply a way to keep up with other clubs, to stay relevant.
As the plane lands, you finally allow yourself to feel excited in that same giddy way you did the last time you made this journey. You were finally one step closer to making your dreams come true, and you weren’t going to let your negative thoughts and fears ruin it for you.
The entire ride to Nelson Road, you couldn’t help but let that giddy excitement course through your veins, feeling like you’re a little kid again and on your way to your first day of school. You can’t help but wonder who’ll be in your class, who your teacher will be. The Richmond women’s team has been kept fairly quiet, and you have practically no idea what you’re getting yourself into.
Walking through the doors, your nerves start to build again, and you think your heart is going to beat right through your ribs as you make your way to the front desk. Before you start speaking, you need to take a deep breath or else you’re worried you’ll collapse, and that seems like bad luck considering you’re here to be an athlete.
“Hi, I’m here-“
“I know why you’re here,” the receptionist cuts you off and you’d be upset if she wasn’t beaming at you, “Ms. Welton is waiting for everyone in her office.”
The receptionist shows you the way, gesturing up a grand staircase that gives you plenty of time to freak out some more, your anxiety only growing the closer you get to the owner's office. As you open the door, you wonder if it’s too late to turn and run and catch a flight back to America.
All those feelings disappear when you see one of the other players talking with a gorgeously tall woman, and you can’t help but to squeal despite how unprofessional you know it makes you look.
“Mackie!” You yell out, causing the other woman to turn towards you, a grin blooming on her face when she notices you. Claire McKenzie had been one your best friends since you both debuted for the US team together at twenty years old, bonded by your age and your bench riding skills.
“What the fuck are you doing here?” She asks as she pulls you into a tight embrace, completely forgetting about everyone else in the room.
“I’m here to play some fucking football!” You reply, feeling ten times lighter than you did in the hallway now that you know you have Mackie on your side.
Breaking apart from the hug, you feel everyone’s eyes on you and you’re wishing the floor could just open up and swallow you when the woman who must be Rebecca Welton smiles kindly at you.
“I’m glad to know some of you ladies are already friends,” she says, the room breaking into laughter and the weight lifting off of your chest.
After everyone had arrived, she took the time to introduce herself and the few other non-players in the room, including Keeley Jones, the true mastermind behind the Richmond women’s team. No matter how much this team means to you, to the rest of the team, to Rebecca, it means ten times more to Keeley. This was her idea, her baby, and you can already feel the pride and excitement radiating off of her at the sight of the team gathered before her.
You’re determined to win it all for her.
“This is Coach Kent, and Beard and Nathan Shelley will be your assistant coaches until we can find someone to fill those spots permanently,” Rebecca says with a smile, but you can all feel the tension coursing underneath the surface.
“So no one wanted to coach us?” A voice from the back of the room asks, and it’s like you’ve been drenched in freezing cold water now that somebody’s said it out loud.
“No one has expressed interest… yet,” Rebecca adds, trying to keep up her jovial facade as the players start to mutter to each other. It feels like you’re in gym class again, standing and hoping and praying you get picked for dodgeball but knowing you’ll be last again.
“Oi! I fucking want to coach you, I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t,” Roy says, sounding angry but you can’t quite place what he’s truly feeling, “and these two want to fucking coach you.” Beard and Nate nod, Roy crossing his arms across his chest as your murmurs die down, placated by his statements.
“With the limited space and limited coaching staff, there will be some days where you share training with the boys, but we’re all one big family here,” Rebecca adds, and you can tell by now that the smile plastered on her face is fake, that she’s trying to convince herself as much as she’s trying to convince you.
As you wrap up in the office and head downstairs to see the dressing room, you can’t help but feel as if the entire world’s against the team, against you. All you know right now is that you’re going to need to work ten times harder than everyone else to prove yourself to the fans, to the media, to the world.
Passing by the men’s dressing room, you briefly lock eyes with someone walking towards the pitch, who smiles as you pass. It’s so quick that your brain isn’t able to process who it is, so you try to forget it and follow the rest of the team to the brand new women’s dressing room.
The players rush into the room as if the floodgates opened, everyone trying to find their kit and their name and their number. As much as you want to play it cool, want to make a good first impression on Rebecca and Keeley and the coaches, you can’t help but grin and run with the other girls, everyone giddy as they see the kits in person.
When you finally find yours, you can’t help the tears that spring to your eyes.
It’s the classic Richmond blue, with your name in bold white above a large number nine.
It’s as if everything you’ve ever wanted is right in front of you: you’re a striker on a team you care about. You know it’s going to be an uphill battle, know you’re going to need to prove yourself over and over and over, but right now, with your kit in your hand, your team laughing and smiling around you, you think you can face it.

You rubbed your palms along your legs as the car neared closer and closer to the destination you could spot on your driver’s gps.
A mantra repeated in your head like a broken record.
‘I’m ready for this’
You hadn’t been the one to come up with this idea. One of your friends had sent you the link to the applications and at the time you thought it couldn’t hurt.
There was no way you’d get chosen out of thousands of applicants.
And when you got that email that your application had been moved to the next stage of the process, you were sure you wouldn’t get through any more stages.
But now you were here. Sat in the back of a car on the way to a hen party.
When the car stopped you took in a shuddering breath and opened up the back door, thanking the driver before approaching the open doors.
You heard voices.
You weren’t the first one here.
Another deep breath, one more step and you were met with a wave of cheers and welcomes as one of the other girls approached you.
“ hi, sweetheart. You look so good ! “ the redhead exclaimed as she wrapped you in a quick hug.
“ Thank you, you look incredible too. I’m y/n “
“ Amelia. Can I get you some bubbly ?”
“ absolutely “
You followed her over to the small bar table where 10 glasses of champagne rested alongside two ice buckets.
You were very quickly introduced to the rest of the girls in the room, greeting each and every one of them with a smile and a compliment about their outfit, because they all looked fantastic.
As more women flooded in, you fell into a conversation with the group, learning why all of these beautiful, intelligent and successful women needed the help of experts to find someone.
A round of gasps pulled you from your conversation, causing you to flinch and almost spill your drink.
You turned your gaze towards the door to find what everyone was gasping at.
“ evening, ladies “
A guy.
You didn’t know a lot about this experiment, but you were pretty sure this was a hen party.
“ oh, he must be paired with another guy on the stag night “
Oh.
He was quick to introduce himself as Oscar, and also confirmed that, yes, he was gay.
Unbeknownst to the hens, a similar thing was happening over at the stag party.
A round of confused noises spread around the room when a woman walked in amongst the men.
“ hey boys. Room for one more ?” the girl spoke.
The boys had gathered that she was the last one to enter based simply on how many men were already in the room.
A head of walnut mist turned towards the new member of the stag party.
Not what he expected.
But she was very attractive, so he figured he would try and get on side.
He stood from the seat he had gotten comfortable in and made his way over to her, a smirk crawling it’s way onto his lips.
“ Want a drink ?” he suggested, motioning towards the bar with two buckets of drinks.
“Definitely“ she replied, following him towards the bar where she stuck her hand out to shake his. “ isla “
“Jamie“ he replied, his hand slotting into hers. “ what can i get for you, isla ?” he questioned, his eyes only leaving hers to momentarily drop to scan her body when she was identifying the drink options.
“I’ll take a white wine”
Jamie was quick to fulfill her request, but not long after he placed the glass in her hand, a new voice entered the room.
“Welcome everyone, to the experiment. My name is Derek, and i’m here to help guide you all through this.”
“Welcome everyone, to the experiment. My name is Claire, and i’m here to help guide you all through this.”
Every pair of eyes was on the newcomer in the room, a woman they all identified as one of the experts.
“ enjoy your last night as single people because by this time tomorrow, you will all be married to someone chosen specifically for you “
Her sentence sent a chill down your spine. One you were sure was rooted in both fear and excitement.
“ as you’ve no doubt noticed, you are joined by one of our grooms. That is because we have two same sex couples this year “
“ as you’ve no doubt noticed, you are joined by one of our brides. That is because we have two same sex couples this year “
That had jamie’s hopes of scoring with isla dropping to the floor. He was good, but even he wouldn’t be able to score with a lesbian.
“ have a good night, everyone. This time tomorrow, you’ll be married to someone the experts have matched with you “
All that Jamie could hope for, was that his partner would be a lot easier to get with than isla. Or he may as well have just stayed in Richmond.
With that, Derek left, and the room lit up with discussion.
Primarily about which groom was into men, and where the other groom was.
The conversation was practically identical at the Hen Party. But no one chose to voice it, most likely told by the production team to keep it a secret for the sake of suspense.
But that didn’t mean that you couldn’t focus on enjoying the night and getting to know the people you would be seeing a lot of over the next few weeks.

𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔:
Confident & Flirty (Rhaenyra) x Has Never Been Flirted With Before, Thinks They're Just Being Nice (You)
・It was her father’s idea to cease the feud and move forward. To start fresh.
・To have the both of you ... spend time together.
・ You to visit King’s Landing and Rhaenyra to visit your home
・Rhaenyra was adamant that she was still able to choose her partner, so this is what Viserys came up with
・Platonic, romantic, it didn’t matter what came out of the time together, just as long as things were learnt and traditions were honoured
・Daemon wasn’t happy with this, but Rhaenyra...well she was fine with it
・Until she realised just how sheltered you grew up, and knew you weren’t going to be as wild as she
・There was a mutual understanding about your new “friendship”, that you both played along while everyone was watching but when their backs were turned, you acted as you pleased
・Both of you thought the other was weird in some way
・But with time, you... fell into platonic love
・Protecting the other from slanderous accusations as well
・You did each other’s hair, picked clothing for one another
・Opened up about your thoughts, your feelings - not just about this situation but about ... everything. The world and all its wonders, its evils.
・Talking about your maesters and what you’ve been taught - how you’ve been taught, what your favourite things are/your special interests
・The absolute best thing that happened was riding Syrax though
・The dragon, a gorgeous burnt orange beauty, was hesitant for the first half an hour.
・It was well known that Syrax was a tad ... moody
・The weather had to be right for her to go out flying
・So when you sat down on the sandy, dusty ground of the dragonpit and ...spoke to her, she was rather startled
        “...had a good sleep Syrax?”
・You said it so casually
・Rhaenyra burst into laughter, but made sure you wouldn’ be able to hear her. She wasn’t expecting this interaction. Her fearsome dragon, crouching down to look you in the eye, her tail flicking back and forth. Like some sort of interested cat.
・But you continued on, not caring about the world around you
“To be honest, I didn’t. I’ve been a bit nervous about today. And it’s completely okay if you don’t want to take me up.”
・But Syrax was more than happy to take you flying, in fact, she flew farther and longer than usual
・It was one of the best experiences you had ever had
・And soon Rhaenyra’s romantic love followed

𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔:
Excited ALL. THE. TIME. (Harwin) X Oh God I Cannot Be Falling In Love With This Dipshit (You)
(think Jamie x Claire from Outlander)
・Harwin saw your family’s feud as kinda stupid. He isn’t the type of guy to hold grudges.
・So when you came into court, with a scowl and a mean look in your eyes, he knew you were going to be fun
・He wouldn’t leave you alone
・This hulk of a man, with a tinge of red on his cheeks would always find you during feasts and banquets - any reason for celebration, he would be right by your side
・You were fighting feelings inside of you every time Harwin was around
・The way he winked at you from across the hall, always asked for a dance during feasts (even when no one else was dancing), even when you were outside sitting on one of the benches; he would silently sit down beside you and bump his knee to yours
・It was an internal fight every. single. time.
・In the beginning you thought maybe he was just teasing you, trying to rile you up, get a rise out of you. Maybe even get you into his bed and then shame you
・But Harwin was ... so different. To all the other men at court. Or that you’d met. Even different to your family; your brothers, your father.
・You knew there was some sort of golden light, or ... good seed, inside him. You knew you could truly trust him
・And so you did
・You started to open up to Harwin; stopping the insults and cold exterior
・He didn’t even make fun of you for it -
・For changing how you interacted with him. Because he knew something about you too. That you were different; like him.
・You were thankful for that. There was something about opening up that was difficult for you. And having that grace was one of the reason’s why ... you loved Harwin
・There were times when Harwin’s father shook his head and sighed, knowing that your own father (who was the enforcer of the hatred toward the other) would explode if he found out
・And one day he did
・But you knew exactly who you needed to go to. You knew exactly where to run
・Harwin’s arms were waiting for you, as soon as he saw your face he knew

𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔:
Menace To Society (You) x Living Moral Compass (Jace)
・You Confessed Your Love When Thinking He Was Unconscious. There was a lot of history between the two of you - not family related, but friendship related
・You were set to marry someone else and Jacaerys felt like his heart had shattered well and truly
・It was your wedding night, and right before you were going to say your vows, the enemy had hit
・They took the wedding as the weakest moment to attack
・And the pillar that had crumbled atop Jace made you scream
・Running to him, nearly tripping over the rocks on the floor, you pushed everything that was on him to the side and started to cry
・You sobbed and sobbed, while holding his body in your hands
・The blood running down his face, you used your clothes to clean him up
“Don’t die on me, don’t you die on me Jacaerys Targaryen. I love you too much.”
・Magic words
・Fated words actually
・Because it was destined that the two of you were to be together. Although no one but the stars and the ancestors knew
・Your fiance was shocked by your confession; disgusted, betrayed, but they understood. To some degree, they understood.
・After the battle had been won, thanks to Daemon and Caraxes, Rhaenyra smiled at the memory. The way you so desperately needed Jace to live.
・It wasn’t until Jace was in recovery, conscious and healing when Rhaenyra told him what you’d confessed. He had been completely out of it when you’d said those words.
・Before he had woke, you’d visited him everyday. Bringing flowers, momentos, things you thought he’d like
・You sat and spoke to him, read to him
・But when he awoke, you couldn’t bear to see the look on his face. To look him in the eyes.
・Rhaenyra had to practically drag you to see him
・Yet, when you did, you ran to each other and embraced so strongly that you nearly fell over

𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔:
Both Wary of Love & Don’t Think This Can Be Real
・Wary doesn’t describe how distant Alicent was with you
・She truly thought of you as an enemy. And when Alicent sees someone as such, well, the interaction is never pleasant
・Because when the two of you were together, something lit up
・It was a pull from both of you; magnetism, and it took everything not to take each other when you were alone
・But your families had a firm disdain for each other. Which didn’t make sense for the Hightowers’ as they tried to get on with everybody
・And it wasn’t until you and Alicent kept up your interactions that your family were forced to confront their hatred
・You and Alicent continually went behind their backs because your curiosity outweighed your dislike
・Why did your families hate each other? Where did it start? Why can’t it stop?
・The usual obedient Alicent was heavily influenced by you. Who had a warriors heart - you were brave, braver than many family members who came before you
・And you built a bridge with Alicent.
・Even if she didn’t want to, you were adamant that you could rectify the wrongs that had plagued your family for generations
・Because if you didn’t, then your family would crumble into nothing
・Alicent didn’t know this. That you had more motive than curiosity to build friendship
・And she did eventually find out the true meaning behind your interactions
・But instead of being angry, she shocked herself by being ... impressed
・You had a drive that she had seen. But that drive wasn’t to better yourself, but to keep your family alive
・She loved it. Ambition, but not for yourself. For the ones you loved.
・And that’s why she went against her father’s wishes, and kept seeing you.
・The two of you were practically super sleuthing as neither of your family members’ would tell the same version of events
・So digging up you went, searching for answers, interviewing family and trying not to be too suspicious
・And during this time, Alicent started to develop a crush on you. A hardcore crush on you...
・Otto soon found out and banned you from seeing each other.
・But one taste of rebellion and that’s all Alicent needed to go against her father’s wishes ... again
・After finding out what actually happened, you went to Alicent to show her your findings and when you explained what happened, she flung her arms around you and gave you a kiss

𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔:
Complete And Utter Badass, Rather Monstrous (Daemon) x Their Ray Of Light Who Has Them Wrapped Around Their Finger (You)
・Only someone as badass as you could grab Daemon’s attention and hold it (not that you cared much for it)
・He had seen you on the battle field, a bow and arrow in hand
・Taking down enemies left and right, and when you entered the battle, every strike ran true. There wasn’t a man alive whenever you swung your sword
・There was something so invigorating about seeing your body move in such violent and graceful ways
・Daemon knew that no matter where you came from or who you were, you were going to be his
・So it was a shock to find that you were on the opposing side of the battle
・You hated the Targaryens, namely Daemon who had inadvertedly taken your family from you
・But Daemon saw your abilities and knew he could make you into one of the best fighters there ever was
・So he ... kidnapped you
・Only to explain why he thought you’d be one of the best warriors Westeros has ever seen
・Under his guidance of course
・It wasn’t until the third night that you accepted. He thought it was because of the ... benefits, that you had accepted. But no, it was because you secretly wanted to slaughter him and his entire family
・However, you played along. Under the gauise of wanting to expand your prospects. You had terms, and the main was that he was never to come near you with desire
・All was going well; he taught you a lot. Not just about combat, but about yourself, the world and challenged what you thought you knew
・Your family history wasn’t as straightforward as you had believed. And what more, was that the Targaryens barely had anything to do with your family’s downfall.
・It had been your own kin who had slain one another
・Brother had turned on brother, and it left you with nothing but a fable
・Daemon had given you this information because he knew you weren’t training just for the sake of glory. You had something planned and he needed you to know the truth before you took action
・It was difficult to deny your feelings growing for Daemon, whose personality seemed to mesh with yours so well, that even Viserys saw a difference in him
・It was astonishing to see what a focused Daemon could do, and the worries that Viserys had were gone, when he saw how far you’d come
・You became a beacon for Daemon; someone he could go to not to talk, but to train. To let off steam, to go on adventures with (under the pretense off “teaching” you something)
・Caraxes became very familiar with you, and would actively seek you out as well, as he was so disliked amongst the other dragons, that companionship was sparse
・The bond between both beings meant that you often forgot your hatred, which had lessened with each day
・You soon saw Daemon as a companion, a friend; someone who saw all of you and didn’t shy away. He saw all your darkness, your rage, your violence, chaos, confusion. Everything. He saw everything.
・And he didn’t shy away
・What brought you together was that you reciprocated this
・You saw Daemon’s violence and didn’t blink an eye (NEVER towards you though)

𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔:
Always Bringing Them Rocks They Think They Would Like x Keeps The Rocks
・Your grandfather had a long lasting hatred for the Targaryens. It was personal, but it kept your family at a distance
・But your fascination with the Targaryens was always prevalent throughout your childhood
・And whenever you brought them up, your family would shush you. Telling you that you aren’t supposed to ask anything about them
・But it wasn’t until after your grandfather’s death that your family was invited to court by Viserys
・As it turns out, Viserys had been sending invitations for years but your grandfather was declining every single one
・And when your family finally accepted, Viserys ordered there to be a huge feast awaiting for your arrival
・You weren’t expecting this, but your eager eyes were looking for something in particular.
・But you didn’t expect that certain thing to be kept chained in a pit
・When you were in the throne room, being introduced to Viserys’ children, the news about the dragons was disappointing
・And a young Targaryen woman shared that same disappointment
・Around the same age as you, the two of you would have quickly been pushed together. To get to know each other, but both your families knew how ... peculiar you both were, and were adamant that the two of you should be left apart. Since they were scared their offspring would say or do the wrong thing
・But somehow you bumped into each other in the castle halls, and in the garden, and somehow ... in the dragonpit
・Soon you came to know Heleana. Both her physical and emotional quirks
・ And gods, Heleana was one of the sweetest people you have ever met. She wasn’t like the rest of the people you had come across.
・She understood how your brain worked and you understood hers
・The white-haired woman’s love for you came about because you actually listened to her. You always wanted to know what she thought, what she felt.
・You actively asked her about her visions, and you believed her.

𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔:
Tough on the Outside, Soft on the Inside (Aemond) x The Top (You)
・Aemond was never the type of person to go against his family’s wishes - especially his mother’s.
・So when he found you underneath his bed, waiting to attack, he found it quite amusing.
“Your name, what is it?” He had snarled, still in his night clothes.
“My name is of no importance to a dead man.”
“I see no dead men here.”
・And then somehow he had you pinned on the floor, knife at your throat and white hair like a curtain. All you could see was Aemond’s face; pink tight-lips, pale face, his one good blue eye and his other eye socket was empty, his sapphire orb lay on his bedside table.
・Your body reacted in a way you did not wish it to
・You blushed
“Big bad assassin,” Aemond whispered, the cold blade still pressed against your throat. You could feel his weight and as you started to whisper back, you used it to your advantage.
・Moving your legs so they were around his waist, you stunned him with a kiss and in one fluid moment, you flipped him over and pinned his arms above his head
“Remember,” you panted, “I’m always on top.”
・It was then that Aemond realised he was in trouble
・Because your blade didn’t slice, nor did it cut. It clattered to the side as you got up and left
・The next day your House was introduced to court and Aemond did everything he could not to react
・You were the direct heir to your House, and when you spotted Aemond in the Throne room, all you could do was smirk. He had no idea. No idea that you were now going to live in King’s Landing - in the castle itself
・Those months were excruciating for Aemond, not just because he thought you were going to kill him at any moment, but because you acted as if he was nothing at all. Nothing more than a Prince.
・You bowed when you walked passed him, stood when he entered a room
・It became a common occurence for Aemond to look under the bed. To see if his little nightmare was real
・And all the while, you watched from afar, a delighted smile on your face
・It took 6 months of Aemond to make his move. It had to be well thought out of course
・He couldn’t just try anything. No. It needed to be the perfect plan, one that would both out and villainise you
・But again, unbeknownst to the One Eyed Prince, you were three steps ahead
・He hated you; he loved this game even though he tried to hide it and in turn ... he ... loved ... you
・It was a horrible realisation. One that Aegon, of all people, pointed out to him
・And Aemond avoided you (yes, like the plague)
・It took two weeks, that’s all he could bare - of not looking at you, not hearing your voice, your laugh
・And when he went to leave his chambers to seek you out, you were already at his door...

𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔:
Arranged Marriage
・He had been sent to Oldtown and had no idea that you would be there too
・Otto had arranged your marriage; your father agreeing to it only under the circumstances of equal opportunity
・You were emblazed with anger
・And on your wedding day, you had screamed and cried and fought until it was time to walk down the aisle
・Your father explained how important this marriage was. This alliance would bring safety to your House, and it was in that moment that you knew what you had to do
・You had never seen Daeron before, but heard of the story of how he got his name, “The Daring.”
・And the fact that it was nationally know that he was the most likeable out of the Targaryen brothers...
・You knew your father had bargained for him rather than Aemond, who was harsh and unforgiving
・Daeron stood at the end of the aisle, a charming smile on his boyish face.
・ I can do this, you thought triumphantly, I can, I will.
・When the ceremony was over and the reception was done, you were escorted to your marriage bed with Daeron, who had made every effort to make you feel comfortable
・While alone together, in your shared room, with the fire blazing, Daeron’s kind smile did not change. There was no flip of personality or loss of kindness.
・You soon realised that what you saw in Daeron is what is truly there
・And you felt safe with him
・Which made it even harder to hate him.
・With each insult you slung his way, he seemed to side step it
・And when you realised that the Prince wasn’t going to hurt you, or take you away from your family or traditions...things started to change for you. You saw him as he is. Golden hearted.
・Life with Daeron is full of sunshine, blue skies and love
・Meeting Tessarion was a big experience and one that you will never forget.
・Through the bond she knew your relationship with Daeron, and was apprehensive about you but allowed you to clamber onto her anyway.
・Considering she was one of the younger dragons, she had incredible speed and stamina.
・That ride bonded all three of you. Making you feel closer to Daeron, wanting him...the seed of desire had started to grow

Murtagh Fitzgibbons x Fem! Reader - Arranged Marriage Pt. 3
Word Count: 1854
Summary: After your father had been killed and your brother had been taken by the Redcoats, you were left behind. A group of highlanders come across your ravaged house and decide to take you with them to Castle Leoch. Since you have lost the protection from your father and brother, it is decided that you should be married, in order to keep you protected from the Redcoats.
Warnings: None
Part 2
Tumblr media
As soon as the door of Colum's office closed behind you, you panicked. Should you try to escape? No. No, that wasn't a good plan. You would get caught and likely get thrown into the dungeons. So you would get married. Would you, though? This could not be real, right? Absentmindedly, you started to wander through the castle thinking about how you would handle this situation. Did you want to marry either of those men? Who would be worse? Dougal had made it known that he found you quite... pleasant. But did you find him pleasant, too? Not in the least. And Murtagh was a grumpy man; how could you ever find a way to live with such a person?               Because you were so caught up in your own thoughts you hadn’t noticed that you had walked outside and were now strolling through the gardens. A voice made you snap out of it. “Hello, Y/N,” Claire said, “I am surprised to see you here.” “Yes, well, I just came from…” you motioned towards the castle and Claire nodded. “Yes, I wondered when they would break the news to you. Have they… Do you know who you are going to marry?” “No. Colum said he will announce it tonight,” you looked down at your feet, “during a great feast, for all to hear.” When you looked back up at Claire, your eyes had welled up. “Hey,” she stepped towards you and put her warm hand on your arm, “I was once in your position, and, yes, I was scared, too, but now I can’t imagine a life without Jamie. Any man would be lucky to have you and I am sure that you will be treated with love and respect.” “But I don’t want to marry either of them,” you whispered, afraid to cry. “Of whom?” “Dougal or Murtagh.” “Oh.” Claire paused for a moment. “Dougal might be a little bit much in the beginning, but he is a strong man and he will protect you with his life, so you will always be safe when you’re with him.” “And Murtagh?” “Murtagh is… well, I think he will be the most loving husband you will ever meet.” “But he does not look friendly at all.” Claire laughed. “I know, but, trust me, he has a heart of gold. Don’t let his surly expression fool you, my dear.” You nodded. “Do you want to help me sort the herbs in my practice? It will help you get your mind off things. Maybe you could help me more often? I could really use some help with all of the patients; I do hope you’re not scared of blood?” You shook your head. “No,” you smiled at Claire, “and I would love to help, thank you.”
You had never been in Claire’s practice before and your eyes widened when you walked down the stairs, into the big room. There were hundreds of jars filled with herbs of which you had never heard the name. “I don’t know how good I am at any of this.” Claire smiled lovingly at you. “Don’t worry, I will teach you everything you need to know, it won’t be that hard.” She handed you some jars after she had set down her basket with herbs and started explaining the various uses and how to prepare them. It took you two the whole afternoon to organize everything and you even helped Claire with a patient: one of the young boys at the castle had hurt himself on the fire in the kitchen and Claire had showed you how to dress his wounds. It was a very educational afternoon and you were relieved that it had taken your mind off things.               After a while, mistress Fitzgibbons came down the stairs to fetch you. “Hello, my dear, I came to fetch ye to get ye ready for the evening.” You looked at Claire who gave you an encouraging look. You followed mistress Fitzgibbons to your room where, unbeknownst to you, a beautiful dress was waiting for you. The fabric was sprawled out on your bed and it looked very expensive. You looked questioningly at mistress Fitzgibbons. “It’s a special dress, for a special occasion,” she winked at you, but you couldn’t feel happy about this so-called ‘special’ occasion. You felt like there were rocks in your stomach and you thought about how you could escape, but Claire had already explained that escaping would be impossible, since there were guards everywhere. “Trust me,” she had said, “I have tried.” Mistress Fitz had set you down on a chair in front of the mirror and started brushing your hair. You looked at her in the mirror and she looked at you, giving you a warm smile; she could probably see the fear in your eyes and she wanted you to feel safe. You smiled back at her, but your eyes did not smile. “Dinna fash, lass, you will be in good hands.” You wanted to believe her, but the truth was that you did not know any of those men and now you were expected to marry and, eventually – and sooner than later – share the bed with one of them. You knew that the consummation of a marriage was very important and none of these people would rest before they were sure that it had happened. You could already see them sitting, drinking downstairs, waiting for the moment that you and your husband – whoever that may be – went to bed.              You had been sitting in silence for a moment and Mistress Fitz was almost done with your hair. "Do you know when the wedding will be taking place?" you asked, hopeful that she would be able to have an answer to one of your many questions. "Not exactly, but I expect it will happen tomorrow, or the day after." "And..." you hardly dared to ask the question, "do you know to whom...?" The old lady shook her head. "No, I am sorry, dear, but you should not worry too much. These men may bark, but they don't bite, I can tell you that much." You smiled at her, glad for her attempts to put your mind at ease.        After she had put the last hand to your hair, she put her hands on your shoulders. "There, such a pretty lass." You looked at yourself in the mirror and she was right, you did look very pretty. "Up you get, let's get you in that dress." You stood up and started to undress yourself with the help of Mistress Fitz. You stepped into the beautiful green dress and the fabric had not only looked expensive, it felt really expensive, too. It was of the loveliest colour green and it suited you very well. You were laced up and as you glanced at yourself in the mirror, you could not believe that the woman staring back at you was really you. Mistress Fitz put a string of pearls around your neck to really finish the look. She handed you a pair of shoes and you knew that this was the last step before you had to go downstairs. Your heart was beating aggressively in your chest and you were afraid that it would jump out.
By the time your shoes were put on by Mistress Fitz, you felt really lightheaded and you grabbed the woman’s arm to steady yourself. “Come on, lass, I willna let ye go. Let us head downstairs.” You nodded, unable to speak, and the two of you started making your way to the great hall.
Once in the hall, you could see that it was greatly decorated and the long tables were filled with enormous amounts of food; it certainly looked like a special occasion. “Now, my dear, I am going to have to let ye go now, since you will be seated at the table in the front.” Still not able to speak you nodded that you had understood what she had said. She carefully let go of your arm, testing to see if your own legs could carry you. Fortunately, your legs had gotten their strength back; at least, enough to carry yourself towards your seat. Colum stood up as you approached the table. “Ah, there she is! Have a seat, Y/N.” “Thank you,” you said, sitting down next to him. Colum started to speak to everyone who was seated in the hall. “Welcome to this special evening, everyone. We are all here to celebrate the marriage that will take place tomorrow. A marriage between this lovely lady here,” he motioned towards you, “and the man who is waiting to reveal himself as her future husband.” You scanned the room. The chair on the other side of Colum was still empty. There was no sight of Dougal; was he to be your husband? You looked for Murtagh but he was not present either. They were both probably waiting outside the hall, and one of them would walk in when Colum would ask for your husband to reveal himself. “So, we have come to the point where it is only fair to this lady to know who her husband will be.” Here we go. “May I ask for the husband-to-be of Y/N to step into the hall?” Everyone had gone quiet and you could hear footsteps approaching. You closed your eyes, not daring to look at who it would be. The footsteps got closer until they stopped. “It will be hard to see who I am when ye’ve got yer eyes closed, lass,” someone said. You did not recognize the voice to be Dougal’s and when you opened your eyes, you were greeted by the friendly, brown eyes of Murtagh. Were you relieved? Murtagh took your hand and placed a soft kiss on your knuckles, followed by a small wink; so small that you were sure only you could see it. Were those small butterflies in your stomach? You could feel your cheeks starting to get red and you quickly looked down. “It is an honour to marry ye, Y/N.” You looked up and smiled at him, not sure what to say. Murtagh had let go of your hand and made his way to his seat. You noticed that Dougal had made his way into the hall as well and a slight hint of jealousy could be detected on his face, though you were unsure why. “A toast,” Colum started, raising his glass and you and everyone else followed him, “to the bride and groom to be.” Everyone raised their glasses higher and took a sip. You took a big sip of the strong – stronger than you expected – wine. “As I mentioned, the wedding will take place tomorrow and I promise that it will be an even bigger feast than tonight and you’re all invited!” This announcement was followed by a lot of people shouting and raising their glasses. You looked at Murtagh and even he was smiling slightly. You would be married to this man tomorrow…
