@savvyn_t on twitter and I had the same thought that the mage's hands resembled Viktor's a bit and Viktor gave Jayce his crystal more than once so here is a wild theory (where we ignore that fact that MH Viktor has at least one metal hand):
At a point where Jayce is long gone and immortal old little Viktor thinks back at what they had and what was important to them, he realizes one thing. He then goes back in time to do his old friend one last big favour...

I know that "doomed by the narrative" has been so overused that is now a meme but honestly? How terrifying, how sad, that the moment you see them both together you already know how it's going to end. The final step of their journey is already written, it has been for kver a decade now. When Viktor saves Jayce's life, when he encourages him to pursue his dreams, and Jayce looks back at him with nothing but pure awe, and yet you, the audience know that they will end up hurting each other so badly, that everything will go up in flames, that they are destined to hate
The narrative is already set. We are just here for the journey.
🙃
Ughhhhhhh I guess my only hope is that they can maybe change it a little? Or maybe get through the really contentious divorce era, they go at each other’s throats all season, and come out at the end with… not reconciliation, I think that’s too much to hope for, but… mutual understanding? Like… they can’t be lovers friends again, they’ll never be close like they were, but maybe there’s a respect there? A lot of the League lore suggests that Jayce is very remorseful over what happened, and would leap at the opportunity to make amends. I always go back to the interaction in Jayce’s LoR story. He was just so ready to end the fight between them. And Arcane has certainly softened the image of Jayce (I know that’s so that he can be hardened by his life experiences, but… the writers have a daunting task ahead of turning this sweet, non-confrontational person into a stuck-up asshole), so my hope is that they lean on that softer image and maybe get to a point where he and Viktor can coexist semi-peacefully? And this is totally not at all spurred by my need to have something to work with fanfic-wise 🫣
Really as long as they’re both alive at the end of the season, I’m good. I will smush them together regardless. My one fear is that Viktor falls victim to the old “redemption by death” trope. The Kylo Renification, if you will.
Tumblr media
Redemption by death is such a cheap cop-out, and I am so fucking sick of it. If you’re going to redeem a “villain,” don’t be lazy. Leave them alive to make amends, let them face the consequences and work through them. It can be done. Zuko from Avatar. The Digimon Emperor from Digimon. (don’t judge me, I am a Olde™). Loki.
Idk, I’m just keeping my fingers crossed that they tweak the JayVik narrative doom a little.🤞

Hey [fairly long] little Arcane something I’ve never seen anyone point out…
VIKTOR IS JUST AS EGOTISTICAL AS JAYCE IS!
(And I can prove it)
.
.
.
Showing this is the entire point of Sky’s existence in the show…she was always there for him, there was always another person who wanted to be there with him, but he never noticed because he was always to focused on himself.
Then, when he’s finally an adult, he claims his life’s dream is to “make the world a better place” and that the work he is doing is to help the undercity. But before any of that, it’s “do you think it was my life’s dream to become an assistant?”
And it is worth noting at that point, that Sky is Still There. She follows him all the way to the top, and he still doesn’t notice. Instead he, entirely in his own interest, seeks out Jayce. Someone he has never met or talked to before, simply because his story intrigued him.
Sure, Jayce signed every page of his notes, he assumed he was a moral exception to the city’s safety regulations, he thought a little speech could change the councilor’s minds, he abandoned his work for his girlfriend.
But Viktor isn’t a selfless martyr, and id argue he’s really not much better than Jayce. He worked his way out of the undercity because he “believed in himself,” not in his city nor his family, he wanted to prove HIMSELF. And he did, and it wasn’t enough for him. So he decided he was a moral exception to breaking and entering laws. And what do you know, that wasn’t enough. He kept raising the bar. True, he didn’t go on stage, but it’s because his ego doesn’t involve his image the way it does for Jayce. He doesn’t care who knows his face, but not having his invention shown was brutal to him. It isn’t enough. Eventually he realized he’s dying and immediately decided he would pour every ounce of his life into extending it rather than going out with a bang. He manages to kill Sky, symbolically proving just how little other people mattered to him compared to his own life. When he pours out her ashes, he talks to Heimerdinger, and he’s starting to realize just how badly he fucked up. But all he can find to talk to the professor about is the unfairness of death and the professor’s opinion on his own contributions. Not his and Jayce’s, or on Humanity’s or anything like that. At the end of his rope he still can’t let go of this overwhelming fear that he hasn’t done enough. It’s always personal.
Breakdown of their final scene:
Now this is why I love that final scene with Jayce and Viktor sitting in the skull-shaped pipe above the gorge Viktor grew up playing in. Viktor sees the place he had never thought was good enough somehow drained of all the life and color he hadn’t noticed was there. And Jayce, more afraid of death than anything else in the world, is sitting above a valley symbolically teeming with it. And they both finally come to the end of their egotist character arcs. It’s no longer Did I Do Enough. It’s no longer How Do I Fix This. It’s “We lost ourselves, We lost our dream, in the pursuit of Great, we failed to do Good.” They realize they’ve both fucked up, together. They’ve both been terrible, together. They know that nothing, not one thing they have done to this world has improved it. They are killers, egotists, villains. Their dreams are dead and their visions of their lives and of themselves are dead. Yes, Viktor is dying too, but I don’t think that’s the point. They set themselves the one task of saving lives and all they managed to do was kill.
So they, now changed men, make a vow. They’re going to make it right. Or Viktor does, anyway. But Jayce promises him he’ll destroy the hexcore which I think could mayyyybe possibly mean he’s tied himself into the promise as well i Sincerely Hope.
Have they made up? Yes, I think they have. They are not naive anymore at the very least and are going to handle both their relationship and their respective jobs responsibly and like adults. Does this mean they will manage it? I doubt it, to be honest. If we do end up getting the Machine Herald in any similar way to League, Jayce does have to be his narrative foil, and I don’t think the little moments of going behind each other’s backs and doing things the other wouldn’t approve of + their bridge argument are going to just not affect their relationship. I would be incredibly surprised if the Divorce doesn’t happen. Will they resolve it? No idea. I haven’t decided if I’m in camp Arcane Will Have a Good Ending or Arcane Will Have a Bad Ending yet. Either way, I do hope their relationship stays layered and complex and that they never lose respect and admiration for each other. They are narratively Two Halves of a Whole and it would honestly break my heart if they were to stop being written that way. I do hope they make up in the end, but I’m not going to hold my breath.
Thank you for reading! I am aware that my analysis are very opinion oriented and not particularly objective at all, I enjoy sharing my interpretation of the show as much as I can. That being said, there is a lot of room for discussion here because it’s all opinions, and I would love to hear yours. <33

//SPOILERS, ARCANE S1
set up i noticed for jayce and viktor’s inevitable falling out in season 2…
arcane season 1 as a whole has obviously left QUITE a few loose threads. the threat of war in various areas of runeterra (noxus, piltover, zaun), the upheaval of zaun’s leader and a vacant spot of power, and various problems interconnected with character disputes. the state of jayce and viktor in league predispose rivalry. they *will* become enemies. it *won’t* be pretty. but particularly, jinx’s attack on the council, the conversation between mel, viktor and jayce about potentially weaponising hextech (episode 7, 23 minutes in), and persistent use of symbolism in conjunction with piltover and zaun seem to be potential foreshadowing for jayce and viktor being on two different sides of the inevitable war between zaun and piltover.
jinx’s attack on the council with hextech weaponry, at least to piltover, will be an instant, incessant declaration of war.
i once saw a youtube comment speak on how jayce and viktor act as very strong symbols of piltover and zaun. both start from relatively similar beginnings, scientifically innovative, but zaun is often hindered by handicap while piltover is privileged, cared for, physically strong, etc.. zaun is sick and dying while piltover is seduced by politics. zaun is regularly overshadowed by piltover. zaun is big on body modification and a “desperate times call for desperate measures” mentality. jayce is genuinely just the face of piltover — the city of progress, the man of progress — etc..
generally, i think season 1 represents their symbiotic nature. them, co-existing, not without faults, but living peacefully. HOWEVER, piltover and zaun were also apparently (physically) separated by an explosion.
“The plan involved using thousand of chemtech bombs to crack open an area of the land so that a cavern could be created, …. the bombs triggered a series of earthquakes that completely destroyed the isthmus* and sank large districts of Zaun and thousands of its citizens…” [source: LoL wiki. Zaun > History]
*isthmus: a narrow strip of land… forming a link between two larger areas of land.
zaun collapsed on itself, making travel and commute between piltover and zaun difficult. a leakage of poisonous gas spread through zaun. it’s in a sickly state; dangerous… and by extension, perhaps on the offence (reinforced by the attacks on piltover in s1). piltover is largely untouched, but communication with zaun has been severed.
they’ve been split. LITERALLY.
this insinuates the missile, the attack on the council, might be the catalyst of their split. jinx firing a missile on the council is, in physical form, zaun’s declaration of war on piltover. this naturally puts viktor and jayce — symbols of piltover and zaun — in a situation where they, after it hits, have immediate issues they have to discuss. they’ve already had some of their arguments, of course, but they inevitably need to talk about…
how viktor survived an explosion despite his terminal illness (hence, a conversation about how he augmented himself with hextech, which may or may not end well)
AND
how or if hextech will be weaponised — both having different stances and, inevitably, disrupting their partnership.
mel had a conversation with viktor and jayce on the nature of having to potentially defend themselves from zaun. viktor, of course, refused, jayce also initially opposed, only to feel more neutral about it after mel explained herself.
mel feels relatively important. so there’s a lot of possibility for her NOT to die. along with this, the golden plates along her back are emphasised as the missile hits, insinuating they have some sort of importance and potential leverage in the damage the missile might cause. there’s people out there who know more about the league lore than i do, who could tell you why that would let her live or protect others. but from my memory, she was one of the few council figures incessant on not going to war, period. the arcane AMA guarantees war next season.
Tumblr media
this could actually be referring to mel’s mother going to war(?) with noxus, and how she requested weaponry from piltover (only for mel to refuse because she literally built a life in piltover against the notion of war, period). but considering jayce and viktor’s inevitable falling out, a war between zaun and piltover is incredibly beneficial in a symbolic sense.
regardless, this means there’s possibility mel might actually die. she was one of the few council members insisting war was a bad idea — and with her eliminated, it’s up to the rest of the council to decide. the council — people who vastly detested the thought of a peace treaty with zaun. jayce also has a pattern of reacting very strongly to things he cares about, ei: mel. his support in the war against zaun might not happen initially, but it’s *definitely* possible, especially after trying to establish peace and being immediately attacked afterwards, along with mel’s hypothetical death.
the peace treaty between zaun and piltover, denied from both areas, might also foreshadow viktor and jayce’s situation next season. something arcane is good at is “almosts;” situations in which characters, and the audience, *almost* get what they want, only for it to be immediately taken from them. powder *almost* manages to prove herself to her family (despite her incredible abilities outside of fighting), but accidentally makes her only family turn on her after getting most of them killed. vi and jinx meet up in episode 6(?) and they *almost* have some form of consolidation after not seeing each other for years, only for cait to (not intentionally) throw a spanner in the works by being someone NEW in their dynamic that warps jinx’s trust of vi.
zaun and piltover *almost* had a peace treaty. jayce *almost* managed to finally somewhat leverage the disputes between piltover and zaun. his support of zaun was not a sudden revelation, slowly taking place after his argument with viktor (“but you didn’t say they were from the undercity!”), but did only occur in the third act; specifically, over two episodes. but zaun and piltover are now, hypothetically, going to war.
*almost.*
jayce’s arc consists of him finally going against the rules and expectations he’s abided by — the expectation of piltover for him to make choices that benefit THEM, and subverting this by making peace with zaun. he *almost* gets that growth within the last act. he *almost* makes the (concerning narrative morale, specifically) right choice.
viktor and jayce *almost* avoid their conflict getting worse. but will let their own ideals get in the way.
they *almost* had peace.
on top of this, the weaponising of hextech conversation from season 1 is generally interesting for foreshadowing purposes, too; possibly in regards to jinx’s attack on the council and possibly in regards to an event in season 2 we don’t know about yet.
it could foreshadow viktor working for zaun, it could foreshadow a dire situation in which viktor could get both him and jayce killed and chooses not to, or could foreshadow jayce and viktor’s split after the missile hits.
viktor inspects one of jinx’s grenades, stating, “the form is crude, but… the engineering is… inspired.” you could argue he almost admires it. he admires jinx’s engineering. he admires zaun’s engineering.
jayce reacts with, “you think they could crack hextech?” do you think they’re dangerous? do you think zaun is a threat? he disregards it.
viktor replies with, “ehhh… it’s a leap,” and is somewhat dismissive of jayce, reinforcing their stances on zaunite weaponry and zaun in general.
after mel leaves viktor and jayce to decide on whether they’ll weaponise hextech or not, viktor says, “ridiculous. you cannot be considering this.”
through their arguing, jayce states, “we may not have a choice.”
in the process of dissecting jinx’s grenade, viktor sets it off. in order to prevent it from detonating, he’s required to cut a specific wire. he hesitates, hand lingering, leaving jayce in anticipation, wondering whether he’s willing to let the bomb kill the both of them.
viktor finally cuts the wire.
he decides to let them both live. he decides to not let jinx’s grenade detonate.
“there is always a choice.”
a situation in which viktor could kill both of them but chooses not to, possibly involving jinx or zaun….
and again, this could specifically foreshadow their arguments after the missile hits. but it could also be a different event from season 2 entirely.. the scene always seemed to pointed, to me, to not foreshadow *anything* though.
viktor will also likely work for zaun, accentuating the divide between him and jayce.
zaun is referred to as piltover’s “dark mirror.” viktor is supposedly jayce’s “dark mirror.” viktor needs a lot more of a turning point for this to be accurate, because as is, both are on somewhat common ground (aside from viktor’s deteriorating morale), and the machine herald is yet to make his debut. this split will likely be accentuated by viktor working for zaun; after viktor hypothetically disagrees with jayce’s stance on weaponising hextech and attacking zaun. he’ll no longer be on the same side. he’ll HAVE to leave.
after silco’s death, there’s a vacant spot of power that needs to be filled in zaun. i don’t believe this will solely be viktor; perhaps a number of people, perhaps a new LoL character introduced next season. but people who exist in zaun as of season 1 will not be able to be its sole leader.
the environment in zaun negates jinx’s actions, largely disapproving outside of silco.. who’s now dead. sevika is permanently a right-hand. the end scene, where the vacancy of silco’s desk is heavily emphasised, sevika obediently sitting aside, insinuates she’ll *stay* a right-hand, as she has the whole of season 1 (worked under vander, as well, etc.). finn, leading the chem-baron revolution against silco, was single-handedly taken down by sevika herself. which leads very few people to lead (from my knowledge, im forgetful) or take a place of power. this is a little meta, as well, but i’ve noticed viktor’s voice actor, harry lloyd, also happens to be actively commended for his ability to play twisted/demented villains. feel like that’s too much of a coinkadink, yknow. viktor, as a symbol of zaun, might not become its sole leader — but it’s definitely not out of the question that he will be forced into a position where he has to work for them instead of piltover.
viktor and jayce will have their falling out. the attack on the council holds the weight of a symbolic and literal war that will split jayce and viktor. after mel’s (hypothetical) death, jayce will no longer have an influence to stop him from declaring war, along with encouragement in the form of the council. viktor will be working for zaun. jayce will be working for piltover; for the council. their symbolism guarantees they will be enemies; viktor and jayce are fated to be on different two sides of the war between piltover and zaun.
does anyone have thoughts on this? if this post flops jus ignore it /lh
[and ps; if anyone can somehow find the comment talking about the viktor and jayce symbolism with piltover and zaun, although i doubt it, PLEASE send it to me so i can properly credit them. i’ve been struggling to find it. i just remember it was a reply to another comment about jayce and viktor but it’s given me so many thoughts it’s NOT EVEN FUNNY SJDNJ]
[[ps ps; if anyone has any constructive criticism on my writing/evidence i’d love to hear it !]]

I'm really curious what Jayce's and Viktor's hex tech journey, before the 7-year time skip looked like. What we know after the time skip is that Jayce is basically an established celebrity in Piltover and they have built the hex gates which have been successfully in use for a few years at this point. But what happened before?
I mean Jayce probably had to prove himself and his inventions to become Piltover's golden boy. Was he maybe even unpopular at some point? I could imagine the people being torn about him at least. I mean one day he is almost banished from the city for breaking the ethos and the next day suddenly the council deems him sane enough to fund his inventions? Were there people, maybe even students at the academy saying stuff like "This Talis-boy is outta his mind! Haven't you heard it? He almost blew up the whole academy!"
And they probably didn't always have their fancy, established laboratory, where they knew how to handle hex tech so effortlessly. Imagine all the trial and error, all the crazy experiments, them almost blowing up the academy MULTIPLE times! Heimerdinger was probably quite hard to sell on hex tech, not gonna lie ...
I just wish we saw more of Jayce and Viktor bonding as young, inexperienced lads T^T the potential!

Round 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Under Cut
Mel Medarda
she is the richest woman in piltover who left her family because she didn't agree with the way they did things (conquering and murdering). she sponsors jayce and viktor, and courts jayce, which makes people upset because, you know, jayvik. she and viktor are CANONICALLY parallels with much of their imagery mirroring the other's and they are literally the same height. and people are so weird and misogynist and racist about her. they argue she is manipulating jayce and doesn't actually love him. i am cognitively disabled and cannot explain things well, but, she is so fucking shouldered
Black woman who has a romantic arc with one of the main characters Jayce. Jayce has a best friend called Viktor and their relationship is pretty important plot wise, shown as a direct contrast to his relationship with Mel even though only one is canonically sexual/romantic. So naturally fandom as the transformative safe haven it is villainized Mel horribly coming up with theories about how instead of being a complex morally grey character she's actually evil and just wants to seduce Jayce for Evil Reasons. Since they couldn't use her as a supportive female friend with no personality, others just ignored her existence entirely or acted like Jayce would ditch her for Viktor. Majority of m/m shippers will reduce her down to her relationship with Jayce and an obstacle in the way of JayVik, ironically writing her as a far worse and less complex version of the character we get on screen. The misogyny reeks and combined with the racism? It's a pretty bad case. Only slightly mitigated due to the fact that the main characters of the show are women (and the lead is a lesbian) so thankfully the male focus of fandom is lessened as opposed to filling almost every inch. Still awful to try and search for good Mel content, godspeed girlies with taste.
She's one of the most interesting characters on the show, a rich politician, smart and beautiful and has a really complicated and intriguing relationship with the city's golden boy inventor. unfortunately golden boy has a sickly twink science partner so she gets sidetracked SO BAD
Juno
She's honestly a way deeper character than people give her credit for, her arc is that of acceptance and being true to your heart despite what society thinks of you. Oh yeah and for the record she doesn't stand in the way of Lougosi because of her crush on Legoshi because I honestly think that she was more in love with the idea of being in a same species relationship than she was with Legoshi himself. I'm talking about the part where she falls for Louis and struggles with the knowledge that if she actually pursues him she's gonna be seen as a freak and never reach the social status she strives for. There's a lot to discuss with her character arc but NOOOO let's all just laugh at how she gets no bitches because Beastars fans see Juno as a joke. (I'm not mad I'm not mad it's fine it's fine)
shes cool but she doesnt have good chemistry with her canon love interest and therefore the fandom chalks her up to having no personality whatsoever. they see her as either an obstacle or a sex object basically
Done dirty by the writers and fandom alike

@lostxndbroken liked for super random smut and got jayvik
All that hard work and frustration finally had paid off. All that time spent together had made them get closer than casual work colleagues or friends even. There had been pent up tension between them - the one of a very specific kind. When it finally broke down over them it had been in the middle of the night. They just successfully conducted an experiment proving another of their theories. The lack of sleep and the joy and relief had led them to act irrational enough to end up in a more than heated kiss, which was leading Jayce on to take his chance and undress his lab partner. It wouldn’t have been the first time it had overcome them in a similar sensual way. Jayce had made sure to express his feelings for Viktor in many ways by now, but they still haven't reached the last base, for work has been too consuming of their time. Now however there was no holding back any more. Jayce hands wrapped around Viktor’s waist before he lifted him on top of their workbench, squeezing his own frame in between the other’s spreaded legs, pressing his hard on against Viktor’s crotch, while desperately wanting sucking on his neck, moaning the other’s name against his skin. “Oh - Viktor.”

When The Dust Settles || Jayvik
Jayce x Viktor
Tumblr media
A/N: This takes place just after the ending of epsiode 9 in the aftermath of the rocket hitting the council chamber. Some angst followed by sweet hurt comfort. This is my first time writing a ship fic so I really hope you all enjoy! I would love to hear what you all think! also huge thanks to @thedreamlessnights for listening to me rant and rave about Jayvik xD
Word Count: 1.6k
Warnings: canon-typical violence, angst, fluff, hurt/comfort, the divorce era doesn’t exist in my house, they will be happy forever if I have a say so.
Tumblr media
Jayce has never believed in the silly tales people tell about death. Never accepted the idea that life flashes before your eyes when death is imminent or that times appear to slow down as one's doom approaches.
But the image of that rocket, that blue haze in the otherwise blood-red sky… does make time slow for Jayce. Suddenly he's thrown back in time as the window of the council chamber shatters into a million tiny pieces.
He remembers the night he almost took his life, remembers the golden eyes of the man who saved him and has stayed by his side ever since. He remembers the sting of glass cutting his cheeks as his theory finally came to fruition in the darkened room of the Academy. Blue light explodes around them as two bodies are launched into the air.
But it's different now. Time slows just enough for him to glance at his partner; brown irises meet amber ones before he's falling. They're both airborne again like that time all those years ago, but this time the ground rushes up to meet them. Then everything is dark…dark and quiet and still.
Until it isn't.
Screams and blasting horns ring in his ears as his eyes try to peel open. They are far off; at least they feel that way. But they are loud enough to push past the ringing in his ears and the pounding in his head. He tries to take a breath, but dust coats his tongue, and a sharp pain in his side rips a cry from his throat.
He should be worried about himself, the apparent broken rib, the pounding in his head, and his swimming vision. But only one word runs through his mind. One name. The only person that matters.
"Viktor…" his voice is weak, barely even a whimper as the words get caught in his dust-coated throat.
Viktor. Viktor. Viktor. Where is he?
There. He's there. Jayce sees him as he forces himself into his side, swallowing the groan that bubbles in his chest as he does so.
Oh, gods… he's so still. Why is he so still? Is he…? No. He can't be.
The screams are still there; he can see other bodies on the floor. Can hear them moaning in pain or crying out for one another. But he can't find it in him to care. He just needs…he needs to get to Viktor. Now.
He practically pulls himself across the floor, acutely aware of searing pain in one of his legs. His fingers dig into the cracked ground, slipping against the rubble and dust that covers it in layers. He's closer now, and he nearly cries out when he sees the slow rise and fall of Viktor's chest.
"Viktor!" He calls out again, trying to stir him to consciousness, wanting nothing more than to hear his voice. "Wake up, Viktor-"He calls out to the man he loves, now within reach to lay panicked hands on his arm.
Jayce finally looks up from him, sheer panic and dread fueling his motivations. He needs someone, anyone, to help him. They need medical attention; they need help from someone - anyone.
But no one is coming. Not now, at least. The far wall of the council chamber is gone, obliterated by whatever was fired at them. A sizeable hole has opened up in the floor where the council typically sits, and Jayce swallows hard, trying not to think of who the gaping maw swallowed up. Jayce turns back to Viktor, his panic quelled only because his chest still moved up and down.
He scoots closer, gritting his teeth against the pain in his leg as he manages to move into a sitting position, resting against a chunk of rubble that just missed him and Viktor.
He places shaking hands beneath Viktor's arms, pulling him as gently as possible until he's cradled in Jayce's arms. He's heavy, completely dead weight as Jayce holds him closer, eyes flicking over his form to try and take stock of any injuries he has.
Jayce immediately notices the sickening wet matte of chestnut hair on Viktor's temple. Crimson streaks down his face, leaving tracks in the dust coating his skin.
Jayce feels his breathing pick up, flames of fear licking at his mind again as he sees this. He swallows thickly, the spit going down like glue in his throat, as he rests a hand on Viktor's cheek.
He's breathing. He's still breathing. He's alive. He's okay.
"Viktor, please…please wake up. I need to know-"Jayce nearly chokes on a sob that crawls up from within his chest. "You can't leave. Not now, please."
Jayce has never begged for anything in his life. Sure he's fought for things, but he's never begged. But now, it's all he can think to do. He would get down on his knees and grovel at the feet of whatever gods existed if it meant Viktor would be okay. He would do anything.
He has so much he has to fix. So many things he needs to tell Viktor. How sorry he is for losing sight of their dream. Apologize for letting their relationship suffer because he was so consumed with greatness.
He was so consumed that he let the greatest thing that happened to him slip through his fingers.
Jayce didn't even realize tears had started to spill down his cheeks until they landed on Viktor. He immediately moves to wipe them away, smearing soot and dust across pale skin.
He can't lose Viktor. He won't. If it means giving up his seat on the council. Giving up Hextech. He doesn't care…he won't lose Viktor.
A ragged cough pulls him from his thoughts, and his eyes lock onto the source of the sound. Viktor shakes in his grasp, shoulders heaving as he expels dust and contaminants from his lungs.
Jayce shifts him in his arms as his cough subsides, holding him more securely, so Viktor can look at him. Pools of gold rise slowly to meet his own, and Jayce can't stop the sob this time. Relief rushes through his veins as Viktor brings a hand up to rest atop his.
"What happened?" His accent is thick on his tongue, words slurred slightly as he fights back towards consciousness.
But Jayce has never heard anything so beautiful.
He shakes his head. "I don't know." He says honestly, just now realizing he has absolutely no clue what the hell happened. He was so concerned with Viktor that he didn't even stop to think about it or try to find answers.
Viktor's eyes close as another bout of coughs shake his frame. He only speaks when they subside. "Are you alright?"
Jayce nods, more tears dripping from his eyes at the movement. He wraps his hand around Viktor's chilled one when the man gives him a confused look.
"Why are you crying?" He asks, concern lacing his noticeably less slurred words. "Are you hurt?"
"Nothing I can't handle," Jayce assured him. "I was…I thought you were - were…." He swallows the words, unable to say them without bringing forth another wave of fear.
Viktor's lips twitch up in a smile. As much of one he can muster despite whatever pain he must be experiencing. "You can't…" he trails off as he takes a deep breath. "You can't get rid of me that easily."
The laugh Jayce lets out is wet with tears and makes him grimace at the pain it causes in his side. But he can't be happier.
"Of course not," he says, a smile on his own on his face. "You foiled my whole plan."
Viktor lets out a huff but doesn't say much else, so Jayce takes this moment to rest his forehead against Viktor’s, eyes slipping closed in relief.
"I was so scared." He admits, voice a mere whisper. "I thought I lost you."
Shaky fingers slide against Jayce's cheek, and he subconsciously leans into the palm that settles there, relishing in the contact.
"I'm here," Viktor assures him, hand sliding further so his fingers can tangle in Jayce's hair at the base of his neck. "I'm not going anywhere. Not willingly."
Jayce nods slightly. "I know." He takes a deep breath. "I'm sorry, Vik," he says, everything he wanted to say spilling out before he can stop it. "I'm sorry I wasn't there. I'm sorry that I let the council cloud my judgment. I'm sorry for everything, for being gone. For the things I said." He chokes back another sob as Viktor's fingers press into the back of his neck. "I'm so sorry. Please, I hope you can forgive-"
Warm lips stop the fountain of apologies in their tracks, and Jayce can taste the salt of his tears as Viktor kisses him. Jayce pulls him closer, eyes screwing closed as he kisses him back. He would mold himself to Viktor if he could, stay with him always, for the rest of eternity if it were possible.
And at this moment, he pretends it is.
He can feel the grit of dust and rubble on his teeth, can taste the metallic tang of blood, but he doesn't even care. Because Viktor is alive.
He's here. He's here, breathing, alive, and doesn't completely hate me.
And he'll do everything to keep it that way.
Viktor is the first to pull away, but he doesn't go far. Jayce can still feel his breath on his cheek and how Viktor's lips brush against his as he speaks.
"There's nothing to forgive," Viktor says simply, leaning to rest his head against Jayce's chest, exhaustion evident in his eyes.
Jayce says nothing because there's nothing he can say to that. So instead, he pulls Viktor that much closer and takes a deep breath.
New shouts finally started to replace the ones that had faded from the council chamber. An army of footsteps grows louder with each passing moment, and Jayce realizes help has finally arrived.
They would get out of here. Alive. And Jayce would spend every moment he could fighting to keep them both that way.
No matter what it takes.

Viktor: "Yes, well, I wanted to talk about your work. This Hextech theory of yours"
Jayce: "It's not a theory. I saw with my own eyes what magic can do, the lives it could save."
.
Jayvik is our best duo I could say, we really see ourselves in the characters and because of that they are a comfort cosplay to us.

RE: the vanco anon. JayVik enjoyer here. Very occasionally, we'll get people in the tag going "omg why would you ship that, Jayce said Viktor's like his brother!!!1!!!!! How dare you HC him as anything but straight!!!!" (but the former "argument" not nearly as much as Vanco from my observations. My theory is cuz Silco says "brother" like, a million times in the show but that doesn't invalidate your points in the slightest) and the general response is to ignore the person and block them. Or go "lol fuck off" and then block if you're feeling spicy.
Oh I bet you have. In French we have a saying that basically if dumb people could fly, you wouldn't be able to see the sky.
I feel like people who throw these types of tantrums are forgetting that in fandom we're just a bunch of kids on the beach playing with dolls and building sand castles.
When one comes up to me and tries to tell me I'm playing with my dolls wrong, I have to look at them and calmly remind myself that no, I shouldn't throw a handful of sand in their face, that I might be building sand castles but I'm still a grown ass adult.
Some of these one track mind fandom police wet blankets are literal kiddos. The adults among them are worse than kids and the only way to go about it is to slap that block button like it's Silco's bonny ass (or Viktor's ig).

My guys, it is that time of the day again...
For so very long I got massively confused that Jayce Talis has so little resemblance to his mom Ximena and I was always searching for similar features when someone posted this pic of her and I could finally wrap my head around it:
Tumblr media
They say you look for your parents in your partner and now come on! The crooked nose? The thick sharp eye brows, the hooded eyes and the beauty mark under it??? I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE FORTICHE!!!!

Don't mind me just thinking about Jayce absolutely despising the hexcore because "look what YOU did to him, look how much YOU hurt him, how much YOU change him, this is YOUR fault"
Jayce not being able to come to terms with the fact that it was Viktor's choice to become the Herald, even if deep down he knows the truth
lol, the Hexcore is the “other woman.”
Tumblr media
Jokes aside though, the Hexcore as Jayce’s scapegoat for avoiding the painful truth… is so real. And 100% think it’s gunna be a whole thing in S2. Where like… he thinks if he can just “get Viktor away from it” then he can “save him from it” (which might also actually be a thing, since it does seem to exert some very unintended side effects on Viktor). Definitely a lose-lose situation though. Cuz in the end, yes, Viktor did choose this. And Jayce is gunna have to reckon with that one way or another.

I like considering the contrast between Vi and Jayce and their relationship with the people they love. Another interesting thing that connects them seems to be eyes.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vi, Caitlyn and Jinx all have blue eyes. (Realising Vi has blue eyes, so hot.)
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jayce, Mel and Viktor have eyes of gold. I don't know colours and their symbolisms, but I won't be surprised if that means something. All three people having similar eye colours though in different shades.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then as the story progresses, Jinx and Viktor start to get lost from the pack. The colour of their eyes change making it like they're not a part of the sanity circle anymore and while this remains for Jinx, Viktor's eventually switch back to gold and stay gold. I don't know if it's because the operation Singed did on Jinx was more intense, or Viktor just has more mental strength and willpower to hold on to sanity.
(LEAGUE OF LEGENDS AND ARCANE SPOILERS AHEAD!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interestingly, even after the divorce arc, Viktor's eyes never switch from gold. All the drawings of the Machine Herald, he's got gold eyes. Like a part of him holds strong to the connection he has with Jayce. Like he can remember he wants to help people, he's just changing the way he does it.
Meanwhile Jinx seems to have disconnected from Vi entirely.

Can we talk more about how Jayce gets to Viktor's side at the hospital?
Tumblr media
I said it once before, but I think Jayce is Viktor's emergency contact, and I doubt many people would have KNOWN he was with Mel that night. Even if they did, I don't think the hospital would know to contact those people to then contact Jayce in Mel's room.
(Do phones exist in Arcane? I can't remember... but I think it's all like letters and sending tubes. Did the Kiramman's have a candlestick phone, or am I making that up? I'll have to go back and look.)
But while we're questioning things, who even stumbled onto Viktor in the lab in the first place?
It strikes me as a place not many people go into. Maybe just Viktor, Sky, and Jayce with the occasional Heimerdinger-- unless there are other scientists or like cleaning people or something that go in on occasion and could have found him in the middle of the night? (They didn't seem to clean off his blood in the time it took for Viktor to recover and return, so I'm thinking not.) Maybe Sky forgot something or got a second wind of confidence and went back in?
I don't know...
This brings me to my silly dumb thought that Jayce was so giddy about getting laid that he woke up in the middle of the night and went to tell his best buddy (who he knows probably would be awake and working still) and then found him on the ground dying.
I'm so sorry!!! 😆
Tumblr media
But seriously... I'm sure there's a simple solution for these two things leading up to the hospital, but it's just been stuck in my head.
What do you guys think? Who found Viktor collapsed in the lab, and how did Jayce find out?

Round 2
Nyota Uhura
She's Spock's canon partner in AOS, and I get it because they're not a great couple, but she gets villianized in fic so much. They constantly make her an asshole (which totally has nothing to do with her being black /sarcasm) and abusive just for the crime of dating a man headcanoned as gay. And I mean, I think Spock is gay and her being a love interest was unnecessary but still! She's cool!
Oh my god so in the Star Trek reboot she’s Spock’s girlfriend and the fandom has no idea what to do with her??? Like she is ALWAYS either such a bitch or like the mom friend? And there is so much more to her character than that? But they always break down her character AND find a quick and easy way to break up her and Spock. I’m not even mad at that but at least treat their relationship with some weight instead of just being like ‘it never mattered’. People can love multiple people throughout the course of their lives. You know that right? Just because you loved someone before doesn’t make your new love any less special. And even headcanoning Spock as gay… you realize he doesn’t need to be attracted to Uhura for their relationship to have mattered, right? Even if he confused friendship for romantic attraction, him feeling such strong friendship and openly expressing it is so monumental for him!!!
she's dating Spock, who people ship with Kirk, so fans have decided that it's horrible writing and "really, they're just defending her, the movies turned her into just a love interests," which is not at all true. The movies do so much more for her to the point that the fans who have only seen the movies think that the main characters are Kirk, Spock, and Uhura instead of the Kirk, Spock, McCoy of the original series. Also having a black women being shown as being desired and loved in mainstream media, particularly by one of the most popular characters of all time, is a good thing, not making her "just a love interest"
