🌝 Most of the members already quit either incidentally or due to the harassment faced from the first time sonny was exposed. jiumei and lostsilver, sometimes pinecrowz himself (pronouns?) are the only ones that are really active anymore, at least in the social aspect of goatlings. Everyone else is either moved on or rarely on, which I suppose is good because this drama should really have just been about the zoophile in the first place.

great zhuhou news. apparently 春光灿烂猪九妹 (unrelated to similarly named 春光灿烂猪八戒)has bajie reincarnate as a human girl. swk's male human reincarnation falls in love with her and calls off his childhood arranged marriage bc his fiance was in love with someone else and he cant let go of bajie. and then they confess and get together. BUT THEN THE FINALE REVEALS THE WHOLE SHOW WAS ACTUAL ZBJ'S DREAM DURING THE JOURNEY?? absolutely insane. guess ppl recognize the tension but will only allow it when het 😭
EXCUSE ME WHAT
THAT IS WHAT THATS ABOUT
WHAT
HUH

That was NOT conveyed in the summary of Spring Brightened Zhu Jiumei from 2011 XD I can't believe I MISSED this! Like I get they wouldn't say that since it like the season finale but COME ON I would watch the show if they told me that in the FIRST EPISODE.
If I had a nickel everytime there was a xiyouji media that had Wukong get with someone romantically only for it to be all a dream I would have two nickles..... DAMN. I don't see a lot of versions where Bajie gets to change his gender glad to know he still romancing no matter what.
Bajie really had one hell of a night like his subconscious be CALLING him out. I need to just find the final episode and see that. Thank you so much for telling me! I tried reading the summary of like past episode but still way too confusing without knowing much of the story, but looks like it kinda does feel like a 'trap' that Bajie and gang had to escape? Not sure if only Bajie was trapped in his dream or if everyone else was in there as well but.... that would be wild if Wukong and Bajie had a romance trapped in a dream-verse where they forget each other and had to re-learn each other all over again.

No matter what universe these two are in they are still bickering like an old married couple. Good for them!

tbh i dunno why so many sj apologists are anti-yqy. because like????? he is your mascot. he was the originator. the head honcho of excusing sj's levels of unmitigated villainy. look into my eyes and tell me that qi ge wouldn't blush and kick his feet if he saw xiao jiu commit murder. actually we don't NEED to imagine bc jiumei did just that and yue qi just grabbed his hand and ran, no thoughts head empty. arson? child abuse?? yue qi doesn't care. whatever makes xiao jiu happy <3

I think we should ''uwuify'' SJ more, if god airplane shooting the sky AND MXTX wanted us not ''uwuifying'' him, then they simply wouldn't have created SJ. Cos for ffs sake, airplane gave an advice to SJ on how to save LQG, ONLY. And MXTX wouldn't have gave him a whole extra and call him Jiumei herself.

On QJL...
So we all love to hate QJL. That’s fine. I hate QJL for what he did to Jiumei >.<
But, for a brain teasers, here’s this.
Popular theory is that QJL lusted after his sister, but the actual phrasing was something like… he was spoilt, thought himself above everyone, the only person he cared about was Haitang, and didn’t want her to marry. So this sounds sus, but back in the day marriage (particularly for rich nobles) wasn’t that romantic. It’d probably be part of some deal between families, arranged by the parents. The young lady would be shipped off to wherever, expected to stay at home and produce heirs, with little to protect her from a bad husband. So it’s also plausible the QJL really cared about QHT and was paranoid about her being mistreated outside his home.
Marrying his sister to a freed slave is a wild move. It would have turned a lot of heads. The other family members must have been tripping over themselves trying to figure out what the hell he’s doing (and those same family members would probably not have blinked an eye at QJL abusing said slave).
It’s implied that QJL taught SJ to read and write on good (???) will. Like in the extras there’s this bit: ‘standing nice and upright… he actually looked quite pitiful… an odd feeling arose within him, as well as he notion that he rather liked the boy, and he pulled back the foot he’d originally planned to kick him with’, before he asks SJ to write down some letters and is impressed at how well he does it.
So what if... there was a tiny part of QJL that actually wanted this to work out. How he sees it, he pulled this kid out of a gutter, taught him how to be a decent human, then entrusted him with his beloved sister. So what if he gave him a few beatings – he was a lord, SJ was a slave. He’d never really been taught that this was Not Okay (not that he was innocent - he hid it from QHT. But like... he probably thought it was bad rather than unacceptable). And granted, he was right about one thing – Wu Yanzi was a scam artist.
Another thing to bear in mind, QJL was 16 when SJ came, 19 when his father died and he took over as family head. That doesn’t excuse anything, but that’s… kinda young.
All this in mind, here’s a (fanfic? Background?) idea:
QJL and QHT’s parents consisted of 1) a father who was the eldest in the family but the son of a concubine, who’d bonked off a brother in a succession battle to get to where he was. He was 80% an okay human being but also had really bad anger management issues, was extremely distrusting, and a terrible husband. Many characteristics diffused to his son. 2) a mother who was a young lady from an exceptionally good background, who was meant to marry the original heir, but after QJL’s father bonked him off, her family didn’t want to lose the marriage alliance, so they sent her off to him instead (Catherine of Aragon style). She hated him but was extremely prideful of her position in the household (Madam Yu style).
Both parents had heavy expectations for QJL, their eldest son. They’re both paranoid about an uncle taking over so they strictly punish anyone who shows the slightest hint of disrespect for QJL, which over time teaches the kid that everyone below him are dirt and he can get away with anything. Simultaneously, they constantly berate him for not being good enough, so he grows up full of unvented stress. (This is also where his distrust for outsiders and his extreme sister complex come from.)
He vents by going around beating servants and whipping beggars, generally being a huge a**hole. When he first comes across SJ, he acts in the same way. But then he decides he likes him and keeps him close by, giving him nice clothes and tutoring him personally. Everyone on the outside (who can’t see the full picture) thinks he’s pampering a slave (which is the story QHT also hears). And despite his slither of good will, QJL is still an a**hole and ends up abusing SJ worse than if he’d thought nothing of him.
This doesn’t make QJL a good person (or even that tragic tbh, compared to the other characters) but it does make him more believable??? Beyond just ‘scummy villain who’s scummy for no reason’.
Also, QJL to SJ is SJ to LBH, right? Poetic parallels.
On a final note, the whole Qiu household get a lot of ‘they deserved to die’ but realistically, most of those servants had no say in what went down. They could do what? Quit their job? Then starve on the streets? Also, sure SJ didn’t kill the women, but he did just destroy their livelihoods. It’s like LBH burning down the whole of Cang Qiong after SQQ+some disciples caused him misery. We love parallels~~.
(And speaking of parallels, imagine if the Jiang family from MDZS were the better version of the Qiu family – they even have the purple colour scheme lol)

Erlang Shen discovered that the demon world invaded China. In order to resist the invasion, he found the four Xiaotian warriors, Zhu Jiumei, Qian Duowen, Li Zeng, and Sun Zhiguo. The four being ordinary people with various shortcomings and growing up to be united, purposeful, and brave giant spirit warriors, and resolutely accepted the mission to find a way to deal with the demon world.
On the way, they experienced the noble sentiments of Bodhi Patriarch who sacrificed his life for righteousness through the tempering of the Zhongtian World, and received the great spirit of Erlang Shen, Feitian and a other group with different personalities who were willing to sacrifice themselves for great ideals and to protect others. The temptation of the fantasy world in Zhongtian gradually faded away, and finally refined into a forbidden spell, successfully defending the story of peace and tranquility in the world.
In the city of Luoyang, someone with the courage of a bear and a leopard, brought a bad scholar to propose marriage to Jiu Mei, the Zhu family’s daughter in the west of the city. With the help of wine, Jiu Mei kicked Ma Xiucai into the pig pen but a strange thing happened. A little piglet fell from the sky, and the piglet laughed out loud and started talking in human language. The drunken girl Jiu Mei and the piglet had a great conversation. After drinking so much, the piglet and the girl actually became sworn brothers. Huazhu said that he was a famous immortal and giant spirit god in the sky. Jiu Mei laughed so hard that it hurt her belly.
The next day, the giant spirit god, who had returned to human form after drinking, was bullied by the gangster Tong Er on the street. Jiu Mei rescued the him and people came to the restaurant to drink heavily. After getting drunk, they slept in the restaurant. The giant spirit god who was upset at night woke up from his dream and saw the Suzaku jade pendant hanging on Jiu Mei's chest. He was overjoyed as it turned out that Jiu Mei was the giant spirit warrior Zhu Bajie he had been looking for. He told Jiu Mei this shocking secret. The Dark Magic King of the West, Feste, was ready to move, practice magic, and rescued the Dark Plague King. He wanted to destroy the East, but his attempt failed and he had turned into a pig's head.
The heavens where about to fall. He took out the Djinn horn and a map that no one could understand ordered Jiu Mei to set off immediately to find her brothers Wukong, Wujing and Sanzang, and to crush the Dark King's huge conspiracy. Jiu Mei's head felt a little numb after hearing this, although she was drunk but still felt that this was too unreliable. In desperation, the giant spirit god used magic to change the small golden hammer from small to large. He shouted slogans of hard work, struggle and love, and used a thunderbolt move from the clear sky to smash himself into a small flower pig. Zhu Jiumei was stunned, looking at the horn and map in her hands, and the tearful and pleading eyes of the little flower pig, Zhu Jiumei was determined to set out to complete a mission that she couldn't even understand herself. The younger brothers who were originally sincere to Jiu Mei were a little uncomfortable when they found out that the boss was a woman. Now they saw her sworn to a pig, so they all evaded and refused to go with her. Jiu Mei was caught in the roaring wind. Wiping away tears, I embarked on the road to the west alone.

hi! do you ever feel like the bingqiu fandom is binghe biased? like a lot of the time its giving.. “wow binghe is our little precious bun who deserves the world and more! ..oh and stinky neet loser sqq is so blessed to have him lul” it feels unfair towards sqq :( it makes me sad hes no ones fave but thats okay like whatever right? but even when its bingqiu hes treated like an afterthought. like we have binghe fans criticising sqq for not doing more, sj fans are frankly delusional, sqh fans think hes “too mean” to their precious hamster, liushen fans only like him bc hes a good hole/dick for lqg (obligatory “not all men” lol) idk i only follow a handful of svsss twt accs because no one seems to like him, he feels either tolerated or treated as a gag character lol 🥹
i just dislike a lot of fanon bingqiu i think? i read all the books before hopping on twitter and i see some absolute rancid takes on there like the woobification of Shaun(tm) qinghua and jiumei.. which is easy enough to avoid tbf so whatever floats their boat idc. but when i follow bingqiu accs, it feels like OC x OC rather than ~bingqiu~ if that makes sense? like i LOVE the manipulative crybaby domtop x flustered thin face subby pillow princess they have going on!! and fanon bingqiu is just.. not it? and obv id never send hate or anything (i just block and keep it moving) but it makes it kinda sucky when the fandom is already teeny tiny and a large chunk of the fandom isnt what i envisioned/expected i guess which is so odd! when they essentially erase canon!! if it’s like some queerbaity ship or whatever, people can characterise them however they want but its like CANON how they act/are in bed/etc and its all taken away!!! idk im probably just whining sorry 😭
(i included all my thoughts here sorry for the spam!!)
hey, thanks for stopping by!! I definitely know what you mean with regards to SQQ, but I will assure you that there are very much still plenty of dedicated "sqq mains" out there. My sphere of influence on twitter is heavily biased toward people for whom sqq is their favourite character, so maybe I'm not getting a representative sample of the fandom overall, but he's definitely a very well loved character and has more than his fair share of people who do him justice in their writing and for whom he's their primary blorbo!! I remember posting this on reddit a while back and more than half of the responses (though admittedly a small sample size) had him as their fave. So, I don't think he's without appreciation!
But with that said, I do get where you’re coming from. I’m not gonna talk about readers who take his actions in bad faith and actively dislike him (HOW??), but as you’ve said, even among people who do like him, we don’t always understand him as well as we could. Most fans do get on some level that he’s an unreliable narrator, but it’s still very common for people to take him at face value and completely miss his depth. He’s a funny little guy with amusing narration, but he’s also kind and selfless, and he’s also smart and witty, and obnoxious and annoying, and frankly pretty insensitive, and deeply, deeply traumatised—and a million other things! He has layers.
I think all popular characters in fandom will inevitably start getting boiled down to a few key traits. And as somebody who’s been writing fic for 15 years, it’s really hard not to let your own biases colour your portrayal? I absolutely do it with SQQ!! I focus on his kinder, warmer aspects and downplay his flaws, I’ll readily admit that. We all get drawn to a favourite character for a certain trait, and that trait becomes the grit around which our interpretations form. If you’re somebody that likes silly characters, you’re going to write SQQ and dial his silliness up to eleven. If you like kind characters, you’ll write SQQ with emphasis on his kindness. None of these traits are OOC in and of themselves, but if you start to only read fanfic and don’t revisit the source material, you can get lost in what’s popular and forget all the depth that actually made them interesting in the first place. And once you’ve grown attached to a particular version of the characters in your head, it can be really hard to let go of it. I don’t really know where I’m going with this, but I'll add that I think protagonists are just particularly prone to this happening because they're usually the one the audience relates to most.
Idk if any of that really addresses the stuff you were talking about. You mentioned dom top Binghe/pillow princess sqq and to be honest I’m kind of reluctant to talk about this in depth because I’ve received negative comments in the past for supposedly being anti-bottom Binghe, when all I’ve ever said on this matter is that I think it’s a bit weird to insist that “I’m scared of hurting you so I might as well let you do it” is proof that Binghe is canonically a bottom. The fact that someone found that statement so threatening to their view of the characters that they would go to my ao3 page, click on the first fic they saw that happened to feature bottom SQQ and leave their holier-than-thou anonymous opinion there is just bizarre to me.
To be honest tho, it tends to be Binghe characterisation that puts me off moreso than Shen Qingqiu. The only SQQ characterisation that truly bothers me is when people write him as willing to hurt Binghe, or willing to do anything with underage Binghe, but there is a LOT of Binghe stuff that I’m sensitive too. Idk if you read this thread of mine but like, even my friends whom I love make “Binghe stalking/imprisoning/"atticwifing" SQQ” jokes and these bother me way more than any random stranger saying SQQ would get off on spanking Binghe.
And like, it’s kind of hard because objectively, Binghe is a very dark character, so it doesn't feel particularly OOC to say he would do those things, but it's about framing. It bothers me when the emphasis is on how fucked up he is and not how hard he's trying, because it implies a level of futility that I just don’t think is there in canon. To me the beauty of him is in how much doing right by SQQ doesn't come naturally to him, but he ultimately decides to do it anyway because he wants SQQ to be happy. (I feel it needs to be said that I don't mean this in a judgy "if you write dark Binghe you don't understand him and are a bad person" way. Just that I myself can't handle that, and I strongly disagree if you think it's where Bingqiu's relationship is headed).
but idk, I've found my corner and I'm very happy here. I actually don't read fic as often as you'd think, mostly because I am sooooo picky, so I totally get where you're coming from :) but the fandom is still decently sized and very diverse, so there are always going to be at least a few people who share your feelings, if you can find them!

My biggest fear is that MXTX says that SJ's soul can't reincarnate in either of the worlds
I would fly out and throw hands personally
but don't worry lol. SV is the forgotten child. MXTX isn't going to say anything about sj anytime soon
but for what it's worth, sj was one of the few characters to get his own extra. and apparently MXTX used to refer to him as "jiumei" when she talked about him... I'm pretty sure she's more on """our side""" in regards to how moe he is than the hater type bq stans would want you to believe ;)

Remember the that Au idea “Shen Qingqiu’s curse” I made in my other account( Anonymous-3197) ?
I write the first chapter 😀, though I change the name to “Soul Curse” since the other name make it too obvious.
Summary
The answer is very simple…is himself. Shen Qingqiu hate himself because of the person he became along with his issues. So what he is gonna do to dealt with it?
...He just gonna get rid of the parts he hate the most.
