A 23-year-old Birmingham woman has been convicted in the 2021 death of an innocent motorist who was killed during a street racing crash.

A Jefferson County jury found Carmesia Flannigan guilty of reckless manslaughter.

Killed in the March 21, 2021, incident was 52-year-old Brandy Ballard.

Flannigan took the stand in her own defense, saying she didn’t mean to kill anyone.

Ballard, a home health care worker and grandmother of five, was on her way to work just after 6 a.m. that Sunday when authorities say her 2007 Ford Focus was struck by a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro that crossed over the center lane of traffic.

Police and coroner’s officials said investigators believe the Camaro was racing another vehicle at the time of the deadly crash. The crash happened at 6:10 a.m. and Ballard was pronounced dead four minutes later. She was just two blocks from her home.

Flannigan was arrested the day after the deadly accident on charges of murder, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She was released the following day after posting $175,000 bond.

The charges of leaving the scene and possession of drugs were dismissed.

“(Deputy district attorney) Misty Reynolds and I felt like we had a strong case for extreme indifference murder, but the jury chose to convict of a lesser charge and we respect the jury’s verdict,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney Joe L. Roberts.

At the time of her initial arrest, she was already awaiting trial on a first-degree domestic violence charge from earlier in the year and a burglary charge from 2020.

Following her release from jail after her initial arrest, Flannigan posted two separate Facebook Live videos laced with expletives blaming Ballard for the crash.

“That old ass lady swerved in my lane,’’ Flannigan said on the video. The videos were deleted from Facebook but were posted to YouTube and has had thousands of views.

Once her bond was revoked, Flannigan was taken into custody in April. She was captured in Atlanta by U.S. Marshals and extradited to Alabama.

Flannigan has been held in the Jefferson County Jail since her April 13, 2021, arrest.

A sentencing date has been set before Judge Pulliam for Nov. 28.

based on a series of romance books developed by Passionflix Professor Gabriel Emerson falls in love with his student Julia Mitchell who soon finds out she was the woman who got away 6 years ago when he was sort of at his lowest during that time who thought Julia was Beatrice at that time but years went by and things heated up, but university professor/student romance cant happen so they try to keep it a secret but word spreads and things get complicated for them. The chemistry that Giulio Berruti and Melanie Zanetti is pretty hot on screen, and the books are pretty steamy as well if you haven't read Gabriels Inferno, Gabriels Rapture, and Gabriels Redemption and the final book Gabriels Promise its really worth the read by Sylvain Reynard.

a devilish dective esque show of Lucifer Morningstar the Devil living life as a wild child type who can open desires from everyone but one person who starts to intrigue him a female Detective Chloe Decker which soon turns out was a gift from God and a key to Lucifer heart, she makes him feel human and things heat up slowly but surely who is played by Tom Ellis and Lauren German.

Vengo Gao and Dilraba Diilmurat page, loved their chemistry from Eternal Love to Eternal Love of Dreams, has posts of their other projects and events and photoshoots they have been doing over the years.

oldie but still a fav, from the scifi series Stargate Atlantis 5 great seasons and complicated feelings from both Major now Lt Col John Sheppard and Athosian leader of srots Teyla Emmagan played by Joe Flannigan and Rachel Luttrell, their character chemistry was growing in season 1 but seemed to falter but they had their moments as a maybe happening but it was one of those writings where it just wasnt really gonna happen just in dreams.

another rebooted series Macgyver follows a smart-brained guy who can make things out of the air with pretty much anything he sees when the situation gets rough and the hacker Riley Davis who is also smart and techy with computers can hack pretty much anything she gets her hands on, they have that more friend zone type relationship but they also have the secret stares and eye contact like Magnum and Juliet who work pretty well together and has grown close through out the seasons but struggles with their own personal relationships outside of work but always stick together played by Lucas Till and Tristin Mays.

based on the reboot Magnum PI follows Thomas Magnum Private Eye living at the Robins nest in the guest house being watched by Juliet Higgins who is the DOMO of the Robins Nest is former MI-6 agent now turned Magnums partner in Hawaii played by Jay Hernandez and Perdita Weeks who are both funny, quirky and has interesting chemistry but both Magnum and Juliet be playing the secretly not into each other even though their secret glances and eye contact is obvious.

based on a reboot version of Roswell which is now called Roswell New Mexico follows Liz Ortecho and alien-human Max Evans, its an interesting show that has its moments not enough episodes but has outpassed its original Roswell series with now 4 seasons which is currently finished filming season 4 played by Jeanine Mason and Nathan Dean Parsons who may or may not still be together off-screen they were supposedly dating kind of unknown if it went anywhere now with the pandemic stuff going on.

based on the romantic book series which follows through a troubled man dark world to a young woman who changes him inside and out from feeling he has the be alone to feeling freed from the dark world he was living under as Christian Grey a rich man who has a secret dark side of being in the BDSM world who meets the young blue-eyed woman Anastasia Steele at his work where she interviews him for her friend who got sick so worlds collide where he's intrigued by her innocence and shows her his naughty side which in turn doesn't go as planned when she wants to feel why he's so afraid to lose her bc of the BDSM world but soon regrets it and leaves him which comes Fifty shades darker and then fifty shades freed portrayed by Jamie Dorna and Dakota Johnson.

a never gonna happen but wish it could happen relationship of Barry Allen and Caitlin Snow, Barry ends up marrying Iris which follows the comics not that I dont like Iris which I do but Caitlin is also an interesting choice but it just isn't meant to be tv wise but we all can dream of it happening especially bc both Grant Gustin and Danielle Panabaker are just adorable and have great chemistry on and off-screen.

SYNOPSIS: 

The story opens after the final panel of Amazing Fantasy Vol 1 15, with Peter Parker walking home, grieving about his dead uncle and how he could have stopped it. Peter realizes now that with great power comes great responsibility, and now it's time for him to live up to the responsibilities of being the man of the house. He promises Uncle Ben he'll step up.

The next morning, Peter is surprised to find a cheery Aunt May making him eggs, until she realizes she accidentally set a third plate. She thinks she should be taking it easy, when the phone rings. Peter picks it up and discovers that there are loans against the house and he doesn't have enough to cover it or the funeral. Pouring what money he has had leftover from his performances as Spider-Man, he decides he will continue to perform as Spider-Man and make more money.

Spidey goes to see his representative, Maxie, and asks for more shows. Maxie holds up the paper and exclaims that a crook was caught using a web and believes that Spidey was the one who caught him. Maxie suggests that they use the news to their advantage and get more money, angering Spider-Man at the idea of using Uncle Ben's death for money. Spidey says that he is no hero, and he will not profit off of this in any way. Maxie says nervously that he will do what he says. Spidey leaves Maxie's office, thinking about how preforming has gone from being a star to being a dancing bear.

At Midtown High, Liz Allen invites Peter over to see Spidey live. Because he is Spidey, he makes up a bad excuse about seeing the doctor. Liz takes offense to his horrible excuse and storms away, thinking that Peter lied because he didn't want to go. Flash overhears the argument and pushes peter against his locker, angry that Peter had shut Liz down. Flash decides to settle this out, Peter agrees awaiting to use his spider-powers on him, but Mr. Flannigan separates them. Peter thinks about going to a private school and getting a good house with Aunt May when the Spider-Man thing pays off.

Meanwhile, Clayton Cole, a rich and extremely intellectual teenager, makes a deal with a seller to get sold out tickets to a Spider-Man show. Clayton Cole goes alone, not having any other friends to go with him, he even reveals he posted Spider-Man's first appearance with Crusher Hogan. Multiple people see the show either in the seats or at home, such as Liz and Flash, also the Chameleon (who would go on to be Spider-Man's first supervillian), and even Jameson gets his first glimpse at Spider-Man. An interview takes place after the show, where Spidey reveals that he made his webshooters by himself, Clayton realizes that Spider-Man is also a tech head. Inspired, Clayton decides to create something similar of his own design, figuring that when Spidey is out of the suit, he's just like him.

Later, on the day of Uncle Ben's Funeral, Peter is getting dress, swearing to Uncle Ben that he is looking out for Aunt May. Who just happened to get a call from one of Peter's teachers that he has been skipping classes (due to his performances as Spider-Man), and the teacher suggests that Peter sees an Counselor. Aunt May thanks the teacher and hangs up, walking with Peter to the cab.

During the Funeral, Peter thinks again on how this was entirely his fault, and promises he'll always be there for Aunt May. Peter than relieves that Aunt May is crying, but also smiling. Peter asks why she is so cheery, Aunt May tells Peter to look around. They are surrounded by Friends, loved ones, and every one of their lives Ben has touched and made better for it. It was a life well lived. Afterword, Peter wished that they Ben's friends would've helped them with the money issues considering, but Aunt May tells him that he shouldn't expect the universe to pay back, it's not the reason why people should do good things. I found some notes I took for a Firefly/Stargate/Buffy con November, 5-6, 2010.

Some bits that seem interesting enough to share:

Christopher Heyerdahl (Todd the Wraith) was asked if there was any intentional sexual tension between him and Joe Flannigan, and he played that up by making it out like he and Joe Flannigan were lovers (“I’d roll over and ask him ‘how should we do this next scene?’.”) and signing a banner with an arrow to Joe Flannigan and the message “Todd was here often”.

Joe Flannigan talked about what it was like to work with Chris and that at some point he’d see Chris in all his makeup and be like “Chris…? That you under there?”

Nicholas Brendon described how when he was doing a nude scene he wore only a sock over his penis, prompting several women to request the sock.

A kid named Alexander shared a story about how in high school he had a friend like Willow who referred to him as Xander and a snooty popular girl said “the only person named Xander is that dweeb on Buffy”, and Nicholas Brendon replied that she probably has an STD by now (“syphilis is back”). 

Nicholas Brendon commented on his role as a rapist on Private Practice and how it was quite a work-out, making a crack about how fit rapists must be.

Someone asked Nicholas Brendon for a high-five, and he was just going to symbolically slap her hand by raising his hand, but when their different heights became apparent (because he was on stage) he hopped down and gave her a real high-five.

Someone asked Michael Shanks what Stargate prop he wishes he could have taken, and he showcased Daniel’s journal, which a woman in the audience had on her. Daniel’s journal is a one-of-a-kind prop filled with writing both from him and some prop guy who must have worked until 4:00AM to make it presentable. There’s some amusing stuff he read aloud, like a note that the only person to ever read this would be a total geek, and some of Daniel’s lines to help Michael Shanks remember when he would look into the book to deliver them.

Someone unaware of Eliza Dushku’s history with alcoholism asked what Faith’s favorite beer is and what Eliza’s is. She replied that in the old days Faith’s favorite would be Blue Ribbon and now she’s sobered up, and Eliza’s the same.

Eliza said that she suspects Hollywood will always be a boys’ club but it’s so much better for women now.

Ron Glass said Barney Miller was run by the director and he liked that environment better than nowadays when everything’s run by committee.

Have I mentioned that Joe Flannigan is on General Hospital now and I'm low-key freaking out?

He's only been in two episodes so far and his contract status is currently "recurring" but I have a feeling that he's going to develop into a major character.

There were clues in his introduction that make me think he could be this mysterious antagonist they've been building up for ages now. Or connected to them.

They're also clearly laying the groundwork for a pairing with Alexis Davis, one of the female leads(and one of my Faves).

And it's Joe Freaking Flannigan! This is the next best thing to getting RDA back on GH
