Disclaimer: As said before, I've tried to match up to the best of my ability, trying to develop similar theming yet different Pokemon types for each character. Also, there are no Legendaries cuz they are Legendaries after all. That said, this is for fun and I hope you appreciate it.

I’m so glad you like them! I was really happy with what I came up with for Kiyo! Definitely absol vibes lol. I talked about Angie yesterday in a separate ask I got, so I’ll do Tenko now!

Tenko was a bit of a tough one, she doesn’t have that much to draw from in the same way a lot of the others do in terms of remnant potential. Her biggest characteristic in V3 is her almost obsessive relationship towards Himiko.

So what we’re going to do is turn that attention towards Junko instead. Not in the same way as Angie, Tenko doesn’t want more and more people to love Junko, she wants Junko all to herself. Much like with Himiko in game, Tenko gets Super jealous whenever anyone else starts spending time with Junko.

Much like Mukuro, Tenko is one of Junko’s personal bodyguards, and she’ll do practically any task Junko asks of her. She resents the other remnants though, they take Junko’s attention away from her after all. Especially Angie, Tenko absolutely hates her and her Junko cult.

Junko should be with her! Why does she need anyone else? Isn’t Tenko good enough?? What does she need to do? She’ll do it!! She can protect Junko! And make her happy! She’s strong enough! She’s trained and trained! And she is enough! Or, she can be! Junko told her so! She told her she loved Tenko! That she’ll stay with her, and they can be together!!!

Of course, this is Junko we’re talking about, and unbeknownst to Tenko, Junko was lying her ass off.

When Junko locked herself in Hopes Peak with the rest of class 78, Tenko lost it. Junko hadn’t told her about that part of the plan, and now thanks to Hopes Peaks defence system Tenko can’t get to her. That doesn’t stop her from spending every second trying though. Her one sided battle against the defence system doesn’t go unnoticed by the future foundation of course, and so now she’s fighting a war on two fronts.

Design wise, Tenko heard ‘imitation is the most sincere form of flattery’ and just ran with it lol. I have her a bit of a different colour scheme then Junko of course, and there’s some notable differences. Tenkos head just didn’t look right without one of her giant obnoxious bows lol, so I gave her a pinky purple one (it’s the same shade as her regular headband and necklace). She’s got a heart shaped locket which of course has a picture of Junko in it, and her pigtails are hearts too.

Once Junko’s dead (I pity whoever has to break the news to her) Tenko just wouldn’t know what to do with herself. She’d likely either keep fighting tooth and nail against the future foundation And the other remnants (they took up too much of the fleeting time she had with Junko!!) or she’d kinda just shut down and be the easiest to capture. No clue as of now lol

“Well, their bags were full to bursting by the time they left. I had to hop on Yang’s bag a little to stuff everything in.” He smiled. “If I know them, though, they probably went off on a long journey to go improve the quality of life of some village in the sticks in the north. Or something. Those guys are almost altruistic to a fault.”

...Campix felt a pit in the bottom of his stomach. He wasn’t supposed to, but he was.

And it was making him nervous.

Pokémon crossovers are never NOT fun, so I tried my own hand at some Dangan-Poké trainers!

The original angular designs are classic, but I have to admit I love the looser styles coming out of the newest games and anime. What I didn't anticipate is how hard it is to get those perfectly calculated 'cute' proportions right, pokémon artists have the ratios down to a SCIENCE. I planned to get this out around my birthday, but missed it by a week! XD

Since my main goal here was translating the danganronpa designs into bona fide pokémon trainer types; I'll admit I didn't think too hard about their pokémon partners. I only actually played the first few games so my expertise is kinda relegated to the original 151/251, with my knowledge of more recent generations lacking, so my bro helped me out with a few suggestions.

but for what it's worth - here's my logic:

Kyoko Initially this one was mostly aesthetics, but Absol does have uncanny observational skills coupled with a solitary nature. Makoto Lucky egg boy gets the lucky egg pokémon, but I also wanted the supposed 'pushover' to have a powerhouse, and Tyranitar needs a lot of attention to evolve. (geeze Makoto, how come you get to have 2 pokémon?) Taka What can I say, it's everyone's fave '''legendary''' police dog! (I'll come clean, I totally cribbed this from Chasml after reading 'My Real Test'; I cannot imagine Taka without an Arcanine) Mondo My bro calls Pangoro 'delinquent bear' so it fits Mondo well, but the idea Pancham refuses to evolve cos he knows Mondo loves the cute pre-evolutions is hilarious to me. Sayaka Primarina is an all singing, all dancing diva, just like the idol herself. Leon Zebstrika . . .zebSTRIKA . . .zebSTRIKA . . . STRIKE like in BASEBALL GEDDIT??? But also - ill tempered, physically talented with a punky aesthetic? Sounds like Leon. Celeste A stocky, grey, spoiled feline? That's not Purugly, that's Grand Bois Chéri Ludenberg Hifumi When I saw the similarities between Blissey and Princess Piggles I couldn't unsee it. Hina Cute, bubbly and an excellent swimmer? Describes Marill to a T. Sakura Whilst she definitely has fighter type pokémon on her team - Alolan Ninetales' style, grace and calm demeanour just reminded me of Sakura. Toko Although insect/bug types would suit her well; I think a lot of them are still too 'cute' - 'unpleasant' pokémon like Grimer or Trubbish mirror her extreme self-image issues. Byakuya I know Ditto suits TWOgami better, but a bit of meta here - a foreign language Ditto is the best way to breed Shinys which seems right up Byakuya's alley; with the obligatory 'Rich Guy Persian' for good measure. Chihiro What self-respecting computer whizz wouldn't dream of a constant portable power supply? Helps that Charjabug is also adorable. Hiro Unpredictably psychic, undefinable intelligence and contentious usefulness, am I talking about Hiro or the Psyduck? Junko Gothorita is called both "the Manipulate pokémon" and "The Witch of Punishment" in its pokédex entries . . . (plus, clearly a fashion icon to boot) Mukuro Pawniard will follow a Bisharp's orders with no mind to its own wellbeing, a perfect pawn if you will.

(and my favourite still continues to be this stupid fat rat, so there's no accounting for taste)

Okay rn i only have the teams but sometime this week ill probably work on their outfit designs!!

Last call...

“As I recall, Layla,” Case says quietly, turning around with a hard glint in their eye, “The deal was that you and your…gang, would take your leave and not cause any more trouble here, in exchange for me not acting as a guardian should against legitimate threats.”

They look to the orb in which their power, their heart, is encased.

“Now I find you here of all places, trying, it seems, to get at the one thing that might be considered too dangerous for anyone, let alone you, to steal. Now, I know that your team is…we’ll say…drawn to trouble — but this action surpasses strange instincts and slopes rather rapidly into suicide.”

A glance at their eyes reveals what looks like the night sky, as the orb begins to glow brighter and brighter.

“It’s against my principles to ever throw the first blow. I act in defense, because if I do attack first the battle is over as soon as it begins. In light of this, I make you one last offer. If you wish to remain as you are, by which I mean, alive and free, make your escape. I’ll monitor you, but will not pursue. Take a step closer, and I will respond as if you had just declared war.”

There’s silence for a few moments as rogues and guardian eye each other. A yell penetrates the noise, and in a lightning-paced flash of shadow an arm darts for the orb on the pedestal. It never connects, turning to stone along the way.

“I suppose I expected too much from Yin,” the Mew sighs, with a single hand up holding the would-be assailant in place as the rest follows. “Please — don’t make me follow this to its logical conclusion.”

Rather than hasty retreating footsteps, the next sound the Mew hears is a Dark Pulse aimed towards the orb itself. It hits, explodes — and nothing happens.

“You’ve yourself said that you know you lack the strength to defeat me, Junko. But you’ve always been one for poking at stronger Pokemon. Your power of manipulation is perhaps more dangerous than any physical action you’ve ever taken. I wonder how you’ll manage in a pocket dimension filled with beautiful colors and happy songs — a paradise — without a single soul to talk to, and nothing, at all, to destroy. I’ll check in on you in a thousand years. Good bye.”

A flash of light, and the Absol is gone.

The Xatu shudders as the Mew approaches…as the loneliness closes in. Closer, closer — it seems her opponent is growing — or is she shrinking? It’s impossible to tell, but she can’t turn around — can’t run away. She tries to steady herself as she finds herself eye to eye with her assailant.

“Layla,” the voice booms, not just hitting her hears but penetrating her soul.

She doubles over in pain, but then looks up, breathing hard.

“Wake up.”

"Do I live in a..." The shadow waited a moment, pondering the question, before bursting into laughter. "What kind of stupid question is that?"

She looked the absol in her eyes, the water type's own glowing red akin to junko's teammate. "Your one of the lackeys of that rage bound ape, aren't you?" Another laugh. "The reason that vaporeon suggested a inhibitor was to prevent shadow Pokemon like him, or me, from running rampant. A shadow fueled by rage is dangerous, but one that's able to think for itself, as I do, is disastrous."

DR x Pokemon: New Dangan Ronpa V3

Yeah, this is late. I have no excuse. I’m sorry.

She gets the other ‘musical’ Pokemon Sayaka and Ibuki didn’t. Cherrim matches her optimism and energy, at least when awake, and the pink and yellow match her sweater and hair. Beartic is a reference to her liking both bear gifts and the clock gift that produces more bears.

Steelix and Cloyster she can make…certain jokes out of. Klinkang and Donphan are for the same reason as Kazuichi. Hypno helps her test all her sleeping inventions and has Wake-Up slap for when she wants to work without sleeping. M-Alakazam is because she feels it’s almost a match for her IQ and thus the only good conversationalist.

As if the Ultimate Cosplayer wouldn’t have Cosplay Pikachu. As a mastermind attempting to mimic Junko, she shares a few Pokémon with her idol. Ironically, she also shares Mimikyu with Junko’s sister, since she cosplays as Junko for quite a time. Leavanny helps her make outfits. M-Glalie represents her cruelty, since when not Mega-evolved it enjoys freezing prey and eating them slowly. Plus it’s also rumored to be born from negative feelings of stranded hikers; sounds like how Team Dangan Ronpa was born from the desires of the population for killing games, yes?

She either has fighting-types to reference her Neo-Aikido, or Pokemon that can only be female. Her entire team is made of girls, of course

Ultimate Maid and Ultimate Housekeeper are really close, so she also gets Cincinno. Ariados and Araquanid are for the web design on her dress. Deboinar Furfrou just looks like it’d fit her, it’s got a very upper-class feel. Ninetales and Armaldo are both references to her name, which according to the wiki means ‘slicing (Armaldo) beauty’ (Ninetales).

Smeargle because she’s an artist…again lol. Propobass and Sigilyph are…weird, no two ways about it, much like Angie herself. Alola ‘mons are because she’s from a tropical island, so she has more ‘native’ ‘mons.

Her team is built around m a g i c and helping her perform on stage. Delphox is the quintessential magician ‘mon, even having an ability called Magician. Zoroark is a master of illusion. Mismagius looks like a witch, c’mon. Musharna is because she’s lazy, because her name references dreams, and because making dreams real is a pretty cool magic tr—er, magic. Reuniclus is pretty stinkin’ cute and a Psychic type, that’s it. Finally, she gets Vigoroth because of her character growth—at first lazy like Slakoth, then she becomes energetic. She doesn’t evolve it because that’d be regressing.

A team centered around different types of assassinations. Decidueye is an archer for long-distance kills (and references her crossbow). Weavile is sneaky, knife-in-the-night types. Arbok she has for poisonings. Electrode she has because she once says explosions can be useful assassination methods too. Carnivine ambushes its prey. Finally, she gets Ninjask for chases, because lore, Speed Boost, and its high Speed all mark it as something that can pursue for ages.

Some ‘mon overlap with Kyoko, thanks to their shared Talent. He has Umbreon as a bit of a counterpoint to her Espeon + the color scheme also works with him. Wailord is a reference to him loving the ‘Helping Yacchi’ whale plushie. Typhlosion starts out as a shy, timid Cyndaquil, before growing out of it, much like he does.

Since he travels a lot, I figured he’d have Pokemon that have a lot of field moves like Fly and Surf; are Ride Pokemon for crossing difficult terrain; or just something he can regular-ride to move faster.

Klefki, Sableye, and Male Meowstic have Prankster. Sudowoodo ~is a liar~ since it pretends to be a tree when it isn’t. Wobbufet because of his tendency to get physically attacked by his classmates yet always bouncing back, and also because it’s considered annoying (to fight, at least). M-Absol is a Pokemon that is thought to bring disaster but doesn’t, which serves well with Kokichi pretending to be the mastermind when he isn’t.

Lots of Steel-types here for a robot. He repeats Chihiro and AI Chiaki’s Polygon-Z because even though he’s not an AI, he is manmade. Luvdisc is because he wants to learn about love. Dragonite looks intimidating but is a big softie.

BUGS. I tried to grab ones representing different species (ie, picking only one of Butterfree-Beautifuly-Vivillion, as they’re all butterflies) since he’s an entomologist and studies a lot of different types.

The first three are cats because he loves them. The last three are all small (below three feet) powerhouses, to refer to how he took out the mafia.

Claydoll, Cofagrigus, and Alola Marowak he has from his visits to other cultures. Roserade is because of the flowers and vines in his official art. Kabutops helps him murder people. Spiritomb, he has because it requires 108 souls and he’s a serial killer. Cofagrigus, Alola Marowak and Spiritomb are also all Ghost types, which fits with his study of séances. And of course, his entire team save Roserade is pretty creepy.

As if the LUMINARY OF THE STARS could have anything other than space-mons. I did consider letting him share Clefable with Nagito, but ultimately tossed him Magnezone because it’s a UFO.

Phew, that’s that! I honestly had a lot of fun designing these teams, and I hope y’all enjoyed seeing them. Maybe I’ll do something for the Warriors of Hope and Komaru too, but if I did it’d be an even longer wait than this one.
