WRITING PROMPTS? Ayo how kar'niss react to being called pretty? Sucks the only time you can compliment him he takes it wrong. Weeps.
Kar’niss lowered his body to the lush grass below, taking time to rest his weary legs from a long days travel. The evening had fallen on the green fields where they decided to make camp, Tav nearby working hard at getting a fire going. The moon had come to rise casting a silver-toned hue over the landscape, particularly over the resting drider. Tav took notice as this was a rare moment of quiet for the pair often on the go with little time to stop. They admired their companion allowing their gaze to wander over every unusual feature he possessed, appreciating even the most minuscule detail.
“You’re beautiful,” Tav said, their voice quiet.
At first Kar’niss didn’t register what had been said much less that it was directed at him. His head raised to acknowledge the other, his head tipped to the side in confusion.
“Who are you talking to?”
“You. We’ve not had many moments to speak on our travels. I’m just now able to take you in, all of you. You’re beautiful,” Tav reaffirmed, their eyes locking from a short distance away.
The drider jerked his torso back, his pedipalps rolled into a tight curl against his lower body. A repulsed snort pushed from his nostrils.
“Do not tease us. We—I am not what you claim.”
Tav dusted off their hands and rose from their crouched position, daring to wander toward the defensive creature nearby. They stood defiantly ahead of him, eye level with Kar’niss lowered as he was.
“I’m not teasing. I mean what I say.”
They reached toward him, the tips of their fingers brushed a few rogue strands of hair from his face in a tender pass. Kar’niss retreated from the touch using his long legs to back away from the gesture. Every experience in his life up to this point told him it was a trap, a way to force his guard down to inevitably be stabbed in the back. Tav saw how tense his body had become, the wariness oozing from every pore. Tav approached their nervous companion with soft, careful steps.
“I won’t hurt you. I know...you’ve been told that before and others betrayed your trust. It’s why I helped you, I couldn’t stand by and watch them abuse you any further.” Tav inched closer until they resumed their previous position in front of him.
Kar’niss’ gaze lingered on Tav with deep rooted skepticism. His legs shifted beneath him, nervously trotting in place until he eventually settled.
“W-We..We..I. I! I—don’t understand.” Tav leaned in closer, a thin smile steadily stretched over their lips. “Then...allow me to explain,” they began. “Your eyes are a wonder, I feel safe knowing they are ever watchful.”
“No. Ugly, unnatural,” Kar’niss grumbled, his shoulders falling into a slump.
“Not ugly, not unnatural. I enjoy them, very much.” Tav lifted a hand to trace around the cluster of dark orbs on his forehead. They saw them blink out of sync which made them smile all the more. Kar’niss crossed his arms over his chest in a bid to self soothe still waiting for the worst to come.
“Your hair is soft and delicate. The moonlight does me a service by dancing upon each strand with such grace. My fingers can hardly resist getting lost in them.” They brushed the back of their hand along the wayward strands that kissed Kar’niss’ shoulder.
He shook his head, tipping his head back as if to spare Tav’s fingers the insult of touching him. “Ratty, thin, a disgrace,” he argued.
They would not be discouraged, knowing full well how much the Absolute had torn his confidence to shreds. “Your body, all of your body, is a marvel. Unique, strong, stunning.” Tav stepped closer, allowing their hips to nestle between Kar’niss’ pedipalps. A hand rested on one of the curled digits to coax it to wrap around their waist, their torsos melding sinfully close.
Kar’niss swallowed audibly and his breath hitched in his throat. “M-Monstrous, abomination, filth.”
His determined companion moved to cup the side of his face, their thumb caressing the rough patch of skin on his cheek. “Your lips, supple and firm. Scarred from a lifetime of torment.” Tav’s eyes fluttered closed, inching their body upward on their toe tips in order to reach.
Kar’niss had no time to process what was happening until it did. Their lips met, a white hot flash of emotion struck the drider quick as lightning. He felt a buzzing tingle that started in his cheeks and soon washed over his whole body like waves crashing over a rocky shore. Tav’s lips were tender, the kiss soft and gentle to allow Kar’niss to move at the pace he desired. At first his response was wooden as if too stunned to respond in kind, his head filling with so many thoughts at once he worried his skull would crack under pressure.
After the initial shock faded Kar’niss found his footing. His pedipalps hooked tighter around Tav’s waist to draw them in, his head craning downward to better meet them to response. At first his mouth’s reply was clumsy, timid, and his hands didn’t seem to know where to put themselves. He placed them on Tav’s shoulders to start and seemingly changed his mind mid-way through, relocating them to either side of their waist. Tav delicately encouraged Kar’niss to tilt his head for a better fit which he complied with easily enough, their hands roaming the length of his chest to feel out it’s shape and texture.
The longer the embrace continued the more Kar’niss’ confidence grew, his lips becoming more aggressive in their pursuit of savoring their taste. He could hear the frantic beat of his heart within his ears, his bulbous backside trembling with an excitement he’d not known in far too long. He was certain this was a dream or some hallucination concocted by his lingering psychosis. Yet Tav didn’t fade or disappear from sight, they remained in place. He could feel their warmth alluring and inviting like a blazing hearth in the dead of winter. He knew then and there he didn’t want to lose this exhilarating experience, he couldn’t imagine going without.
When the kiss broke both individuals had developed a hot blush that streaked across their faces, the sound of aroused panting shared between them. Tav bumped nose to nose with the dazed drider, a satisfied grin tugging at their lips.
“You are not a monster, not to me, not ever. You are Kar’niss and that is all that matters,” Tav whispered. They pressed their foreheads together mindful of his extra eyes, caressing the back of his neck.
Kar’niss had to fight the urge to object to such claims, his mind still saturated in doubt and self-hatred. But after an exchange such as that he did have to wonder...was there still hope for him? Could he have a future, a life, a chance at happiness that wasn’t afforded to him anywhere else?
He was starting to think so.

tee hee. Kar'Niss going feral. Fic go brrr
Breeding kink stuff :p
Tumblr media
A snarl ripped through the air as Tav clutched his shoulders. her eyes practically crossed as he plunged into her, pressing her roughly against the tree.
"Mine, mine, mine," He moaned, clawed hands gripping at her ass to keep her tight against his body as he kept thrusting.
Tav could only choke out, "Kar'Niss! Kar'Niss! Kar'Niss!" as the drider brutalized her body.
It was like something had snapped in the beast as he kept pressing himself deeper against her. He practically relished in the way her mouth chanted his name, in the way her velvety walls clenched tight around him.
"So tight. So perfect. My mate," Kar'Niss groaned as he moved his hands under her knees and pinned them to her chest. He looked down and smirked, seeing the way her stomach almost buldged a slight with each plunge into her womb. "Perfect mate. made to be bred." He panted.
Tav moaned louder as he hit every spot perfectly, her body shuddering as she orgasmed again, clenching tightly around the massive drider cock pumping into her with eagerness.
"Fuck--Yes!" She grunted. "Breed me, breed me."
Despite knowing in the back of her mind it wouldn't be possible, just the notion of him filling her body up until she swelled with his offspring was enough to make her squirt over him.
Kar'Niss snarled as he began to lose his rhythm. His arms slid around her, hooking her legs over the crook of his arms as he kissed her neck and nibbled at it with his sharp teeth.
"Mate...mate...Tav!" he moaned louder as he began to orgasm. His load filled her entirely, making her stomach swell a slight as she felt some leak out with every plunge into her.
His hips barely slowed, as though desperate to keep it up. Tav learned well that driders, despite being infertile, very much had ruts of their own.

𝓢𝓲𝓵𝓴 𝓪𝓷𝓭 𝔀𝓮𝓪𝓿𝓲𝓷𝓰
Summary: You saved Kar’niss from the absolute and decided to make you something return
Warnings: Fluff and people with Arachnophobia!
Tumblr media
You were up late at night and decided to go check up on Kar’niss, He was living in a cave near the camp since his body is sensitive to the sun. Once you arrived you stepped inside the cave and looked around with the beautiful webs he makes and the hammock that was made out of webs, silk and some pillows.
“Kar’niss?” You called wondering where he is in his cave until he was above you with a smile on his face and crawls down on his spider legs and  hugged you. “My queen…” You blushed slightly but hugged him back and you noticed something peeking out from behind his back. “Hello Kar’niss, What’s that you have there?”
Kar’niss eyes widened and kept hiding it while blushed, he started to step back while blushed and slowly he showed you that made your eyes widened. It was a beautifully weaved blanket he made and handed it you. “We made it for our majesty… for saving us” It was really soft and you smiled. “I love it thank you Kar’niss” His eyes lit up and nodded happily. “Anything for our queen majesty….” He did a little bow bending his right spider legs and you smiled.
“You can always call me Tav Kar’niss” You kissed his cheek and he blushed his eyes sparkling with happiness “Majesty Tav… Our beautiful queen!” He picked you up bridal style and you gasped while you put your arms around his neck. He gently set you down on the hammock and got in bed with you, He snugged into you while purring happily and you blushed but smiled laying your head on his chest.
He grabbed the blanket from you and put it around the both of you. He kissed your forehead and clinged onto you, not wanting you to leave him. His face came closer, he was very shy but he kissed you, your eyes widened and you kissed him back, After you both pulled away he smiled and held you close. “My Queen…”

This humble ask is asking you to write something you’ve been itching to but haven’t had an excuse to get ❤️
Ahhhhhh thank you! I am kiss kiss kissing u on ur forehead <3
Anyone else want to be worshipped by Kar'niss?
Strung up from the walls of his chamber, the webbing holds you spread open and perfect for him. No matter how much you trust him, your body still trembles under his intense gaze. Pale hands run reverently down your flesh, fingers lightly tracing your jaw, down the curve of your throat, slowly skimming across your chest before settling on both sides of your waist. His eyes are wide and frantic, as if the five extra eyes still weren't letting him see enough of you. He's mumbling a prayer to his queen under his breath, thanking her for letting him indulge in such a holy rite. You spread your legs a little wider and the prayer gets stuck in his throat, claws digging into your sides.
He's on you in an instant, legs clicking against the stone floor as bends down to slip his head between your thighs. He devours you, but it never ceases to amaze how gentle he can be. You throw your head back with a strangled noise, pushing your hips forward for more. Clawed hands slide down the outside of your thighs, tightening their grip around the limbs so his head is fully buried into you. He does this as he would anything else he's devoted to- passionately, rabidly, his entire being focused solely on serving. He'd have it no other way.

Kar'niss reacting to someone protecting him from an attack and then gently tending to his injuries?
"Heretics! Villains in the dark!"
An arrow whirs past Tav's head, sticking straight up out of the ground where it lands. A small group of Harpers emerges from the darkness with bows, swords, and daggers ready to strike. And gods, do they ever. A flurry of blood and weapons flies around Tav's small group of companions and goblins with their guide, Kar'Niss, in possession of the one thing keeping them safe from the shadow curse. The ornate lantern swings back and forth, a glowing white light illuminating the surrounding area. Surely, that's what the Harpers have come for. Anything to keep them safe from the gruesome fate of being consumed by the curse.
In an instant, the sharp blade of a dagger catches the side of Kar'Niss' abdomen, a sticky fluid almost resembling blood dribbling out of the fresh wound and onto the cobblestone. "Majesty, I've been struck!" He cries, the lantern toppling from his hands and nearly shattering on the ground. Tav takes a dive toward the cobblestone. As they twist to soften the fall of the lantern, they load an arrow into their bow, aiming and firing at the Harper that took a stab at the Drider. A solid hit, right through the chest. Their leader falls with a blood curdling shriek. "Retreat! Gods damned it, retreat!" Without hesitation, group scatters and scurries back to whence they came the loud thunder of footsteps disappearing into the darkness.
The lantern shimmers in Tav's hands as they stand and scan their surroundings for safety, eyes falling on their bleeding guide. "Kar'Niss.. Are you alright?" The Drider blinks, bottom lip quivering pathetically, one hand reaching back to swipe the blood from his wound. "I've failed. I've failed her Majesty. Surely I'll be punished." His voice his soft, shame laced throughout the words. "It's just a small cut. We're all still alive, you'll be okay. You haven't failed anyone." Gentle fingers prod at the wound, the sticky blood-like fluid coating Tav's leather gloves. "We'll fix you right up."
Tav tosses their bag onto the ground and kneels down to rummage through its contents, retrieving multiple salves and balms, lining them up on the blood soaked cobblestone. Astarion crosses his arms over his chest and sighs heavily, rolling his eyes with irritation. "And why couldn't we just take the lantern and run while we had the chance?" Karlach taps her battle axe against the back of his head with a soft clink and the spawn bites his tongue. "Had Kar'Niss not been here to spot the Harpers, we would've had to face that attack with much less manpower. Be grateful." Tav hisses, approaching the Drider slowly with a cloth and small bottle in hand. They pour the bottle of liquid onto the cloth, holding it out to show Kar'Niss exactly what they're doing.
"This is just to clean the wound, okay? I'll have Shadowheart take a look at it once it's cleaned.. This may sting a little. You'll be okay." A quick inhale startles Tav as the cloth makes contact with the gash, Kar'Niss grumbling uncomfortably at the pain. "By the nine hells.." He murmurs, lanky spider legs shifting in irritation. "I know, I'm almost finished." Tav coos, one final rub of the cloth over the gash cleaning the last of the grime. Shadowheart takes a step forward to eye the wound, right hand hovering over it as golden magic swirls and sizzles. Kar'Niss reaches a hand out to Tav instinctively, searching for any kind of comfort for the pain. They intertwine their fingers and the Drider chews on his bottom lip with embarrassment. The Absolute would be ashamed by his childish display. "There. All better." Shadowheart states plainly.
The Drider turns his head, straining his neck to take a look at his freshly healed abdomen, a chuckle erupting from his throat after a moment of examination. "Miracles. They work miracles, Majesty!" Tav smiles sweetly, hoisting their backpack up over their shoulder. "Yeah.. Something like that."

This Tav Tale was commissioned by @quaintrix who graced me with the opportunity to write this fun little scene with Kar'niss! Thank you for trusting me with Solinore. This was incredible fun to write! Interested in a Tav Tale of your own? Look here for details. It is the third day, and Kar'niss is so, so hungry. Solinore can help with that. Content Tags: Blood-drinking, cult fanaticism, drider snuggles, some body worship. Read it on AO3!
At least, Kar’niss thinks, he will die bathing in his Lady’s light. His Queen, who saved him, who gave him purpose. A kind voice, a mighty voice, drowning out the torment of the evil that had been done to his body and mind. “I know you test us, Majesty,” he whispers. “But I have been strong. It is the third day, but we are not broken. We do not lower ourself to taste the blood of heretics. The filth. For you, I will endure these hunger pangs. Your light is all I need, my Queen. It purifies us against the pain.” Except that his strength is flagging, and his hunger only grows. He knows this, in his heart of hearts. Kar’niss holds tight to his Lady’s lantern. It is so cold here, in this twisted forest, and the darkness is deeper even than that in the land below, the spider bitch’s stolen kingdom. May she rot. May she rot! Kar’niss’ legs carve gouges in the dirt, as he lowers himself, holding the light close. And then he hears it. The snap of a dry twig, just beyond the clearing. It’s a terrible effort to pull himself up, and he staggers when he tries, baring his fangs at the intruder. “You—” The hunger pang rips through him like a thunderbolt, and he catches himself on the lantern. The soft, silvery light illuminates her, catching in her coral hair, the streaks of blue like a fading day. He’s seen a sunset in his exile, terrifying, beautiful... “Did you send her to me, Majesty?” Kar’niss whispers softly, taking in this vision, aglow in the lamplight. Solinore... He remembers. He remembers her name. The True Soul.
“No divine intervention here,” Solinore says. “Just me. Are you...” She looks him over, assessing. “Are you hurt or something? You look a bit stuck.” She takes another step closer, and Kar’niss snarls, skittering back, forelegs slashing the air. Solinore puts up her hands.
“Hey, relax. Same team, remember?” Kar’niss can feel his Lady working through her, forcing his need into the light, filling his mouth with the taste of blood, connecting his mind with Solinore’s by a thin gossamer thread. He recoils.
“You shame me, Majesty... Why?” He rakes his clawed finger through his hair. “Have I displeased you?” Solinore risks another step closer to him, fearless, radiant. Somehow the cold recedes as she draws near, and then he sees it. A scar on her throat from a vampire’s fangs. Could she be a spawn? No... He can hear her heart, he thinks. Kar’niss moves suddenly, and even this is not enough to make Solinore flinch. He catches her face in his chitinous hand, feeling for her pulse with the pad of his thumb. It quickens, and her cheeks take on a deeper pink, growing warm enough that he can feel it. He leans close, the hunger drawing him in. She’s alive.
“What has laid its fangs to your throat?” he asks, and Solinore chuckles at the question.
“Why? Want to take a bite?” Kar’niss skitters back from her, nearly tripping over his own unsteady legs as he draws himself up to his full height.
“Disgraceful,” he gasps, rumbling deep in his throat. His own heart quickens. “Do you hear her, Majesty? A bite? A bite?” As though it is something so simple. So freely, so easily given. But the hunger twists inside him, the profane agony that Lolth had cursed him with. He grits his teeth against the pain, against the fury.
“Not to judge,” Solinore says glibly, “but you look like you might need it.”
“It is the third day,” Kar’niss confesses, breathing through the pangs, “and we are starving. But you... You must understand... She does not know, Majesty, what she offers to us.” She does not know what we are. What it means to be what we are.
“You’re in pain. I get the part that means I get you out of a bind, and maybe you owe me one. What else is there to understand?” Solinore looks at him so gently, so gently in the light, and she smiles as though she still thinks this is a small favor. As though he’s asked for a copper to buy bread. “You’re not going to hurt me, right?”
“No.” Kar’niss knows in that instant that he would never. His own body, mangled as it is, would rebel against him if he tried. What angel have you sent to me, Majesty? “But we are starving... If we dare too much, if this wretched hunger...” He reaches out to touch, the curve of his talons stopping short of grazing Solinore’s cheek, the dark scar there. “Protect yourself from us. Take your dagger and do what you must, True Soul.”
“Solinore,” she corrects him, stepping nearer again, into the reach of his arm. He can forget the cold, the darkness all around them.
“Solinore. Yes. Do what you must, Solinore, if our restraint...” He inhales sharply. “If our hunger proves greater than my resolve. If we prove unworthy to taste you.” Kar’niss can see that darkening of Solinore’s pale pink skin, and when she looks back at him, it’s with a certain bashfulness... Or perhaps she’s simply trying to decide which of his eyes to look into.
“I can look after myself, trust.” She has a grin like a fox. “I have a few tricks up my sleeve. You’re not my first, remember.” Kar’niss is daring, again, and he touches the marks on her neck.
“That pale one,” he remembers, “with the scarlet eyes.”
“You know, you’re not exactly sunkissed, yourself,” Solinore teases, “but yes. We’re...” She sighs, frustrated. A momentary shadow. Kar’niss can feel her displeasure and something else that he feels he should not chase. “Never mind what we are.”
“Is he...” Kar’niss traces the marks with the very tip of his claw, restraining the desire to pierce the flesh, to lower his head... The thread of the question frays away. “...a jealous god?” Solinore’s laughter is so loud and so bright that it startles him. He recoils, and that just makes her grin broaden.
“You got the first part right,” she says. “He can be jealous... That’s fine with me. It’s fine.” She shrugs her slender shoulders. “So are you going to let me help or am I going to come back tomorrow to find your princely self lying on your back with all your legs curled in? Pretty undignified, if you ask me.” Kar’niss scowls, his lips peeling back from his sharp white teeth.
“Such irreverence, Majesty; does she wish to enrage us?” he grouses. “But the offer...” He inhales deeply, leaning down so that his face hovers just inches from Solinore’s. His dark eyes reflect her mismatched ones, pale green and pink shining against black. “We have warned you, True Soul... Solinore. We have warned you.”
“I’ve got the idea,” she says, rolling her head to expose her neck. All of Kar’niss’ eyes train themselves on the smooth, unmarked side of her neck. So welcoming. Kar’niss rests his lips against her pulse, feeling it against the delicate skin, but doesn’t yet open his mouth to bite. The desire is difficult to resist but he knows he must be strong, he must not be the monster Lolth has made him. No... No, he must be careful.
“Are you ready?” he asks, and Solinore makes another flippant reply that only his hunger allows him to ignore.
“Let me have it.” Kar’niss inhales. It’s hard to speak, instead of biting, instead of tasting. You have blessed me with strength, Majesty. You have made me patient. You have made me gentle.
“Put your arms around my neck,” he whispers, a rumble belying the command, “and remember what we told you.” Kar’niss keeps hold of the lantern with one hand, but when Solinore winds her slender arms around his neck, he catches her up with his free arm, and crushing her against him, pulling her into his torso with his forelegs. He grazes her skin with his teeth, a last warning. Solinore doesn’t so much as shudder. She relaxes. And then, at last, he bites. He’s mindful of the marks the vampire left; the jealous one. Solinore makes a soft sound, an airy sigh, and it almost rings to him of pleasure. Pleasure? It doesn’t matter. The taste of her blood obliterates everything. The pain, the weakness, it leaves him like a stone disappearing into a chasm in the deep of the underdark. Like a memory dissipating into fragments. So far lost that there’s nothing left to even begin looking. When he lifts her off the ground, his strength is effortless, and he feeds from her while her feet dangle off the ground. It is difficult, oh so difficult, but his Lady gives him the will to pull away, his chest heaving. He does not let even a drop of her escape, laving his tongue over his lips.
“More, please... May I...?” Solinore’s arms go tight around his neck again, and she leans into him. The pressure, the warmth of her body, is an unbearable call. “Please, let me...” And then she says it. She blesses him, takes pity on the evil ravening thing inside him.
“Yes...” He kisses the wound he’s made, and latches on, filling his mouth with that incredible taste, swallowing. There’s something else, something sweet in the blood. It makes him feel as he felt when he’d first seen the Lady’s light, and it warms him, saves him. When he begs for more, he cannot even think of feeling ashamed. And each time she tells him yes, yes, yes... It is a miracle. Not the foul, ugly feeding he’s known, the curse he must fulfill. The vicious attack, desperate for another day alive. A deep purr reverberates from his throat, a vibration that he’s certain that Solinore can feel. She tangles her fingers in his hair, stroking through the silken strands, and he could almost weep for joy.
“Thank you,” he murmurs, the words still thrumming with that deep purr. He holds her close, the lantern still dangling up above them, breathing in her scent in that blessed gleaming. “Thank you, oh, thank you.” Solinore stirs in his hold, and he adjusts, to cradle her, and the lantern, safe in its silvery radiance. She looks tired, as she gazes up at him, but she smiles with a satisfaction that makes his heart jump.
“Can I ask you something?”
“Anything,” Kar’niss agrees, helpless, adrift on the taste of fresh blood.
“What’s that noise? I can feel it...” Her hand drifts, her palm flat against his chest. “Here. It’s... Almost like a cat, when you scritch their ears just right.” Kar’niss settles down carefully in the dirt, keeping her cradled close. He can hear himself, still, feel the vibrations down to his bones.
“Your blood tastes sweet as my Lady’s love,” he tells her. “We cannot help but express our pleasure, to taste something that is so... miraculous.” He leans in, swiping his tongue over the marks left by his teeth, licking the wound clean. There is some quality of his saliva that numbs the pain of his bite, though it thins the blood some to make it easier to drink. “We are happy,” he breathes. “Sated.”
“I know what I want,” Solinore says, toying with the ends of his hair. “For the favor you owe me.” Kar’niss bends close to listen. What could she ask of us, Majesty? He expected this, but when she speaks again, it takes him by surprise.
“Be my noble steed.”
“Your what?” His purring stops, choked off by the request. He very nearly drops her, but she’s still holding on with one arm. Solinore giggles, still drifting on the same after-current.
“Let me ride ya, drider.” Even he has to admit that the half-rhyme is... Somewhat amusing. His indignation softens. He can forgive her sense of humor; she’s lately bled for him.
“We will carry you on our back and return you to camp,” he agrees. “She must rest, mustn’t she, Majesty? After giving so much...” Kar’niss lets Solinore down, but keeps his body low, to make it easier for her to swing a leg over his lower back. He offers her his arm. “Come, then.” Solinore straddles him, pressing nearly flush against his body, and surprises him again by draping her arms around his waist instead of around his neck.
“Hyah...” She pats at his belly and Kar’niss is helpless against a chuckle. An indomitable sense of humor on this one.
“Do not let go of us,” he warns sternly, getting his legs underneath him. He rises slowly, pausing only once when he feels Solinore sway, but she proves deft at keeping her balance. Holding his Queen’s lantern high, he makes his way back towards their camp, her warmth at his back. When they are nearly there, he can hear Solinore humming softly, and just for a moment, he remembers how it had felt to be complete. The darkness in his mind swallows it greedily, but the tune lingers long afterwards.

Hunger
After a long day of travel the exhausted group made camp to rest for the night. After unrolling their sleeping bag Tav decided to converse with their companions, unwinding with those they were growing to trust. Gale dug through their supplies for ingredients, seeming indecisive about what meal they’d have this night. Astarion lounged on a pile of pillows, propped up midway while thumbing through one of the books he pilfered on their journey. Laezel was content to settle on her knees nearby, quiet and uninterested in socializing. Everyone was in their place, all except their newest member. Tav spun in a slow circle to search but he couldn’t find the drider. They noticed Wyll near to the fire warming his hands, approaching him for inquiry.
“Wyll, have you seen Kar’niss? I’m certain he was right behind us,” Tav said.
“No, not since we put down our tents. I did notice he was looking a little gray around the eyes while we traveled today. I assumed he was just tired.”
“Now that you mention it,” Astarion interjected, “he wasn’t nearly as chatty as before. The break from his droning mantra was a welcomed change.”
Tav side-eyed Astarion and shook their head. “I’ll go look for him. He might be injured but didn’t wish to announce it.”
“Or maybe he’s decided to run off to find Majesty himself. He doesn’t strike me as the patient sort,” Shadowheart added.
Gale lifted a finger and waggled it in her direction. “Maybe so, but Tav sees something in him. Like it or not he’s part of our merry band now. Best to exhaust every option before assuming the worst.”
“Thank you Gale,” Tav said. “I won’t be gone long.”
Karlach held up her axe, the flicker of flames lapping at the handle. “If you’re not back in an hour, I’ll come looking, soldier.”
Tav smiled and nodded. “I’ve no doubt about that.”
Once the groups fears had been assuaged Tav wandered toward the direction Wyll pointed them to. This led away from camp and into a wooded area. They noticed broken twigs and bushes displaced likely due to a large creature moving through them. They ventured forth, the thick underbrush tugging at their clothing, strong scents of pine and moss tickling at their nostrils. It was dark, much of the moonlight obscured by the thick canopy above but Tav pressed on, lighting a torch to help cut through the pitch.
“Kar’niss?” They called, their voice echoing in the immediate area.
Several steps in they heard a distinct rustling above them, a few rogue leaves floating down from the trees branches around them. They tried to see what caused the disturbance, the wind or something more? In doing so they didn’t see the sticky trap they were backing into, their body hitting a wall of web that stretched between two thick tree trunks. This startled them, spinning around to struggle against the adhesive silk which snagged onto their clothes and hair with a vice grip.
“Hnn!”
Tav dropped their torch, the flame extinguishing once it touched the wet mud beneath their feet. They pushed and pulled but just as they yanked one arm free the other seemed to become more entangled as a result. Panic start to set in, Tav finding themselves close to calling out for those back at camp. Their cries were stifled by movement above them, darting their eyes to search for the source. From above, nine reflective spheres peered back at them, glowing in the dim moonlight that managed to filter through the branches. Tav stopped fighting with the webbing, their expression twisting into a confused scowl.
“Kar’niss?”
An annoyed hiss sounded off above them. “True Soul has ruined our trap.”
Tav breathed a sigh of relief. “Gods, that scared the shit out of me.” They frowned and looked at their arms, tacky and thoroughly wrapped in web. “How...how do I get out of this?”
Kar’niss carefully balanced over the branch which barely supported his weight. “They must stop struggling. The more they do the tighter the bondage. Back away, slowly, until the web becomes taut and snaps under pressure.” He’d instruct, his voice relaying the irritation at losing all of that hard work.
Tav did as told, walking backwards and dragging the thick strands with them. They pulled until the web couldn’t sustain itself, the beautiful entanglement ripped down the middle and freed it’s hostage. They exhaled, their heart beating so hard they could hear it in their ears. They’d start the process of peeling excess from their arms and clothing, admiring the leftovers as best as they could in the limited light.
“I’m sorry, Kar’niss. I didn’t mean to ruin anything. We didn’t know where you went so I left to search. I...was worried.”
The statement made Kar’niss shuffle in place, his head cocked to the side, perplexed. “Worried? We are not weak, we can handle ourselves.”
Tav winced. “Yes of course.” Once they cleaned themselves off they glanced up at him. “What are you doing out here, anyway? Wyll said you looked gray around the eyes. Are you ill?”
“Tch, no. I am hungry. I have not eaten in days, can’t wait any longer. We smelled wild game, one will wander into my web...once I rebuild it,” he grumbled.
Tav bit their lower lip. “We...have food in the camp. You’re welcome to share it with us, we don’t mind.”
“What food you have available we cannot eat. Unless you wish to offer the cleric, the fighter or the warlock for us to feast on. They are the only three that do not smell of foul blood.”
They furrowed their brows. “Blood…?” A pause. “Oh, OH! You can only consume blood?”
Kar’niss snorted and backed up against the bulk of the tree. “It is the only thing that sustains us. We prefer it fresh. If that is all, you may go. You’re scaring off the game.”
Tav frowned and nodded. “Alright. Once again, I’m sorry.”
They leaned down and palmed over the ground until they found their torch. Tav began to turn to depart, able to hear Kar’niss shuffling above to start the process of fixing the mess. They stopped mid-step, a thought dawning on them. They whirled back around and fixed their eyes on the drider’s silhouette above them.
“I have a question,” Tav said.
Kar’niss scoffed. “What is it now?”
They took a step closer. “You mentioned feeding on others at camp. What about...me?”
The question nearly caused him to lose his footing, his reflective gaze darting to Tav in surprise. “What?”
“Well, I ruined your trap and I feel awful about it. I’m sure it’ll take you a while to fix it, even longer to get a catch. So long as you promise not to drain me dry, that I’ll walk away from this, I don’t see why I can’t give you something.”
Kar’niss’ legs clicked against the surface of the branch, shifting his large body to get a better angle to look at Tav. A silence fell over the area only broken by the mild rustling of foliage from a gentle rolling breeze. He was thinking it over which was a good sign to Tav at least.
“We can...do this. Take only what we need to hold us over for something more...filling.”
Tav swallowed thickly, starting to second guess their offer. They had never been a meal for a drider before and didn’t know what to expect. At the same time they didn’t want him to starve. It was only a temporary arrangement, right?
“Will it hurt?”
“A little but it will pass quickly,” Kar’niss said.
Tav inhaled a deep lungful of air, mustering up the courage to give the order. Kar’niss was intimidating on his own but more so partially concealed by the shadows as he was.
“Alright, do it.”
Kar’niss didn’t need further convincing. His hind legs lifted to stimulate the spinnerets in the barb of his backside, producing a thick line of silk which he secured to the branch he perched upon. Attached to the line of web he began to descend from the tree toward his chosen snack standing below. Tav watched his approach, more of his features becoming defined the closer he came. Soon he hovered mere inches above the nervous individual, making intense eye contact with one another. Tav struggled to control their breathing, their heart racing with such fervor they feared it might burst like a bubble. Kar’niss reached out and hooked their arms under Tav’s armpits, winding them around their upper back. His pedipalps snapped around their waist and curled against their buttocks, enveloping Tav’s torso with the differing pair of limbs.
Tav suddenly felt the earth removed from their feet, Kar’niss’ hind legs pulling at the rope of silk, rising back into the safety of the canopy. Tav gasped from the sudden change in altitude, their arms wrapping around his neck out of instinct. This pressed their bodies together intimately so, Tav rarely allowed to be this close to the drider and finding they didn’t mind it. Once they reached a height that was acceptable to him he settled four of his legs against the side of the tree for stability, remaining suspended from the silken lifeline still attached to his spinnerets. This left Tav’s legs to dangle freely toward the ground below, a strange sensation but with the way Kar’niss held them they felt very secure. Almost too secure. Kar’niss had a grip on Tav and didn’t appear inclined to give it up. If they had reservations it may have been too late to voice them.
Kar’niss tugged Tav closer and craned his head to get a better angle on their neck, his prize. Tav’s lips trembled as his mouth inched closer, able to feel the caress of his warm breath cascading over the surface. Goosebumps spread the length of their arms, a gentle tremor creeping down their spine while the anticipation rose.
“Hold still,” Kar’niss whispered.
Before Tav could reply they felt his lips seal around the thickest portion of their neck. Razor sharp fangs sank into the tender flesh creating two smooth puncture wounds. The burning sting surged throughout their throat causing their eyes to water in response. A choked gurgle bubbled in their esophagus silenced only when they swallowed. Just as Kar’niss promised the throbbing ache of his intrusion began to wane, fading into a dull prickling sensation around the affected area. Tav curled their fingers into the meat of his lower shoulders to hang on for dear life, putting their trust into him keeping his word.
Kar’niss withdrew his fangs but kept his lips sealed around the area forming a vacuum, his nostrils flaring the moment Tav’s sanguine essence coated his greedy tongue. Vampire bites were hungered and frantic, seeking to drain their hosts as quickly as their heartbeat would allow. This was different, very much so. Kar’niss didn’t seem to be in a hurry, allowing the blood to flow naturally rather than sucking the area with any urgency. It took Tav a moment to realize, Kar’niss was savoring them.
His arms tightened around his ‘prey’, pointed digits mingling with the fabric of their clothes to get a better grip. He nursed at the open wound, his tongue occasionally darting out to lap over the surface for a stronger taste. Such a sensation made a blush blossom on Tav’s face, their breath hitched. They weren’t sure if it was from the blood loss or a new found curiosity, but they did experience the faintest tingle of arousal collecting around their groin. The softest sigh of pleasure escaped their mouth, a warmth rising on their skin that spread throughout their entire body.
After several moments passed Tav began to feel a tinge of dizziness creep into their head, the grip around his neck growing lax once weakness kicked in. Kar’niss sensed their exhaustion which prompted him to slide his lips free. He’d lick over the puncture marks to encourage their closure, sparing Tav from further loss.
“That is enough,” Kar’niss murmured.
Tav was dazed and a bit sore. Despite the blood drain they still had control of most of their faculties. They didn’t know how much time had passed but they could at least conclude it was no more than an hour. Otherwise they’d have a flaming tiefling bursting through the brush to make one hell of a scene. Tav panted quietly, reaching to feel over the area of their neck that had been willfully assaulted. They could feel the fang marks in the skin which were steadily healing over.
“Mmmf...do you f-feel better, Kar’niss?” Tav asked, their tone weary.
“Yes. This will sustain us for the moment. I can put you down now.”
“N-No. I want to stay with you, just a little while longer,” Tav said.
Kar’niss lofted a single brow, his eyelids falling half mast as if to mull it over. Tav did just put their trust into him for a risky endeavor, who was he to argue? “Very well.”
He inched his way up into the tree with Tav in tow, his legs hooking onto a thick branch to hoist the pair up. He lowered himself down into a seated position, his belly flush with the wood below. He adjusted Tav to cradle them, one arm under their knees and the other supporting their back. Tav felt the weight of exhaustion hanging heavy, their body curled into Kar’niss’ chest with rest in mind. The drider glanced down at his unexpected companion, his tongue tip grazing over the front of his teeth, collecting Tav’s taste still fresh upon them. He’d look at the half full moon partially exposed through the canopy.
“Thank you,” he said in a pensive tone.
Tav’s lips twitched into a worn but pleased smile, allowing their gaze to join Kar’niss in admiring the moonlight. There they remained in blissful silence, reflecting upon the moment shared between them.

Kar'niss and Ryth cuddle puddle 🖤
Fun Facts! Ryth sleeps in basically a nest made of pillows, blankets, and whatever other soft materials he can find. Bro catches Kar'niss flopped over on the ground all dead spider and immediately invites him to share. Ryth is all about some platonic cuddling, and he definitely sees Kar'niss as sort of a lost puppy. I think Kar'niss would enjoy the nest, and Ryth would find him lounging in it because he can actually relax his whole body. Ryth would be sure to add things in colors and textures Kar'niss liked 🖤

Salvation (Kar'niss/Tav)
Chapter One Chapter Two Chapter Three Chapter Four Chapter Five Chapter Six Chapter Seven Chapter Eight
In Kar'niss' dreams, Tav exalted above the Chosen Three: the handsome man, the pale woman, and the older half-elf. Yet it was Tav that shined. She sat on a silver throne, Her Majesty's light glowing from the inside out. Her eyes shined with sovereignty and splendor.
And Kar'niss trembled before her. She smiled compassionately upon him. "For your faithfulness...I reward you. My most dedicated, honorable disciple." His body morphed as his heart raced in his chest. His abdomen shrunk. His legs disappeared, and his pedipalps withered away. His extra eyes disappeared, and his eyelids closed.
His claws faded away into nails and elegant fingers. His exoskeleton lifted from his body. The pain in his spine, the constant pulling on his body. It all vanished. He was nude and reborn in the light of the Absolute. The voices left, and all that remained was Her Majesty.
"Serve me, my pet. And you will remain whole and pure." Her Majesty spoke through Tav's body.
Kar'niss placed one foot in front of the other, astonished as his body  walked  towards Tav. Lolth never gave, never thanked, never praised. Years of worship for nothing. But Her Majesty shined upon him. The Original Three disappeared from his dream, and he fell to his knees before Tav. Oh, how wonderful it felt to kneel properly before his Queen.
***
Kar'niss awoke from his trance, the memory of his dream slipping away. He whined, biting his lower lip with his sharp teeth. He pressed his head against the stone wall of his cavern, favoring the side with no eyes. He ran his fingers along the smooth interior of his hiding place. "Not fingers...claws...Beastly things..."
Kar'niss watched from the shadows as the Pale Elf, and Tav laughed and touched each other's shoulders. Jealousy rumbled in his stomach, and indignation on behalf of his Mistress, his prophet.
Her Majesty's voice left him. Only the familiar voices of tormentors echoed in his mind. The repetition of "monster," "freak," and "abomination" drummed like a Neideirra. Fast, unrelenting, exhausting. But then he would twirl his braid in between his clawed fingers. He would touch the locket gifted to him.
Tav's kind smile. Her fingers were on his skin, with no hint of revulsion and fear in her eyes.
Kar'niss itched with trepidation and longing. Tav denied his request to follow her on whatever mission she busied herself with. But she took the elf instead, along with the tiefling barbarian and githyanki warrior. Kar'niss gained enough strength to stalk around the camp. The devil-mutated human, scowling half-elf cleric, the weak-willed human wizard avoided him. That suited Kar'niss well.
The Wood Elf druid did not retreat back to the comfort of his tent. Once he spied the drider, he approached him with a hint of fear. He introduced himself as Halsin. The man cut an imposing, tall figure. When Kar'niss was a drow, the man would have towered over him. Halsin began to speak kind, cautious words as though he were dealing with a frightened animal. But luckily, the conversation was short. Halsin wanted to relay that he was an ally as well. As though Kar'niss needed anyone other than Tav and Her Majesty.
Kar'niss skittered away from the druid and climbed up one of the trees overlooking the camp. He would secure the base if Tav would not bring him with her. He moved along the canopy, reinforcing the insecure spots with webbing. As he worked, he could hear the whispers echoing in his mind. These were new voices. They must be from the tents below.
"I just don't trust him."
"Well, how can you? He will not speak to anyone except Tav."
"You saw how Halsin attempted to tame that beast?"
"He's worse than an animal."
"Have you ever seen one of those before?"
"Not that close."
"Between Astarion and the drider, Tav will get herself killed trying to protect monsters."
Kar'niss didn't hear any devotions from the heathens. He did not hear a word regarding Her Majesty. Did they pray and sing if Tav's eyes were on them? Was their devotion false? But he could feel Her Majesty's touch on each of them except Halsin.
Kar'niss whispered to Her Majesty even though she no longer spoke to him. "If their faith is untrue, I shall bring them to your light. If their belief is true, I apologize for my false accusation." Kar'niss knew he was ignorant and foolish. He could be misinterpreting Tav's companions' intentions.
Except for the Pale Elf. Astarion was trouble.
***
Tav never uttered a word when she was harmed in battle.
Tav remembered when pox infected their village.
Tears in her eyes. "Mama...Mama..." But there was no one to soothe a fever. And Tav was not the only one sick. Exhausted, bones aching, and mucus caught in her throat, Tav washed the bile off the babies. She rocked the toddlers to sleep. And cleaned the washcloths, nappies, sick bowls, and chamberpots. And scrubbed the floor where the younger ones could not hold their bladder.
There was no one to light the candles on her cake. There was no one to nurse her when she was sick.
Tav hid her limp well. It was her own mistake that caused her ankle to twist. She was looting the cemetery outside of the House of Healing and miscalculated the dip of the land. Her boot caught in a hole, and the rest was history. It was a juvenile mistake.
"Hurry up, Tav. You'll be left behind," Astarion joked playfully, falling back from Karlach and Lae'zel.
Tav forced a smile, but even she could tell it was more of a grimace.
Once Tav returned to the camp with her team, she ignored the throb in her joint. It was another ache and discomfort she would endure. They all had been living a hard life throughout their journey. Undoubtedly, everyone else struggled just as much or even more than her.
Halsin approached her as soon as he saw her. "I talked to Kar'niss," He announced, his eyes moving to the trees near the camp.
"Did he speak back?" Tav quipped in response, attempting to distract herself from the pain.
Halsin hummed in amusement before shaking his head, "Nay. He didn't seem interested in me. He's used to being alone. No doubt he finds minimal benefit for me."
Tav's eyes followed Halsin's fixed intent look, and she could see the outline of long drider legs behind the tree. Kar'niss was regaining his strength. "He'll come around." She smiled at Halsin reassuringly. "He just needs some patience."
The minor sprain was forgotten. Tav ended her conversation with Halsin before approaching the edge of the camp where Kar'niss hid.
"Mistress has returned," Kar'niss murmured, his deep voice coupled with a purr.
Tav couldn't help but flush at the tone. She checked over him. The braid had kept its shape. With his hair out of his face and eyes, Kar'niss could display his prominent cheekbones and the ridges on his skin. Before she could respond, Kar'niss suddenly frowned. He bent down and looked at her from the top of her head to the bottom of her boots. He then mewled softly.
"Mistress is hurt."
Tav couldn't believe Kar'niss could spy a sprained ankle within seconds of seeing her. Was she that obvious? Tav looked down at her feet and saw instantly that she was placing more weight on her healthy foot. Tav chuckled mirthlessly. She was no master of illusions.
"I wouldn't say hurt. It's just a sprain. I just need to rest-"
"You will not rest," Kar'niss interrupted candidly. His worry morphed into annoyance, "You will flitter and forage and feed and fetch." He darted away from Tav and looked above her to the camp. He scowled, "While he flirts." Before Tav could say anything (specifically, to question what he meant by 'while he flirts'), Kar'niss proclaimed. "Mistress is tasked to lead, not follow. If you stay at camp, you will  serve,"  He said the last word as though it was a curse.
"You must rest in my cave. None shall follow you there," Kar'niss directed. He pursed his lips before he bent his legs, lowering his body so that it was closer to the forest floor. "Mistress will ride me."
Tav couldn't deny the curiosity of riding a drider. But she never thought Kar'niss would let her do so. She hesitated, "Kar'niss, I couldn't ask this of you. If you insist, I will walk to your cave."
"You do not ask. I offer, Mistress," Kar'niss corrected.
"But you're still healing. Just days ago, your legs were broken." Tav protested, only for Kar'niss to chitter nervously.
Kar'niss was looking at her as though she was about to strike him. Once Tav made eye contact with him, Kar'niss whimpered and averted his gaze. "My apologies, Mistress. I presumed and...and I interrupted!" He shouted the last word. Shock flashed through his face before he seemingly sank his body even more. He curled his legs under his abdomen and dropped his head as well.
"Kar'niss...what are you doing?" Tav questioned, feeling her heart rapidly beat in her chest. To watch Kar'niss prostrate himself made her stomach twist uncomfortably.
Kar'niss didn't speak at first. She could only watch as he bit his lip, worrying the piece of flesh until blood began to trickle down his chin. His shoulders slumped as he shrunk into himself.
***
Ilhar plans to match him. A matron from House Mizzrym expressed interest in him. She grew bored of her patron and sacrificed him after he gave her another son. But Ilhar doesn't care for the matron, so she is debating whether to spite the female by denying the courtship. Kar'niss seeks to make his own path and takes the test of Lolth.
Decades later, when Kar'niss drinks the blood of a lone scout and scatters into his web, he wonders if he should have remained a pawn between two antagonistic matrons.
