Elsa. Killian had to draw Arthur away from there, so he spun and swiped at the man’s legs. Arthur anticipated the move, however, dodging to the right. The rocky, hilly terrain threw Killian off balance, and Arthur took advantage of it. Before Killian knew what was happening, he was tumbling down the hill, his cutlass flying from his hand. Well, at least I’m drawing him away from the princesses he thought dryly. His shoulder slammed against a large rock and he groaned as Arthur drew near, laughing. Killian turned his head to see his brother dispatching a knight, but two more were closing in on Liam.

“You shouldn’t bring a hook to a sword fight,” Arthur sneared, grasping the hilt of his sword with both hands.

“Well, I brought a sword,” Killian replied with sarcasm, “but I seem to have misplaced it.”

Arthur brought his boot down on Killian’s shoulder, which he had apparently injured in his tumble down the hill. Killian cried out in pain. Arthur’s sword was coming down on him, and he held his breath -

Suddenly, another sword met Arthur’s with the ring of metal hitting metal. Killian gasped to see Emma standing over him, her face contorted with rage. She had saved him! With a cry, Emma flung her other arm out, and as she did, her entire body became luminescent, her hair glowing like embers. A ball of fire hit Arthur and sent him sprawling backwards.

Killian looked up at her in awe, her name slipping from his lips like a prayer. She looked down at him, eyes ablaze and intense. Behind her, Killian could see more knights of Camelot descending on them both. Where was Liam? Emma flung both her arms out in front of her, dropping her sword. The earth beneath them shook, water spurted up, and the soil beneath Killian undulated like a wave, carrying him backward. Emma turned one palm up and flung her arm skyward. The geysers followed her movement, and Killian’s view of her was blocked by a wall of water.

“Killian!”

No voice had ever sounded sweeter, and Killian turned to see his brother being deposited by another wave of earth right next to him. He noticed Elsa on the other side of Liam, but then she flung her arms outward and ice flew from her fingertips. The wall of water instantly froze, and before Killian or Liam could process it, they were completely surrounded by walls of ice.

“No!” Liam shouted, scrambling to his feet and rushing forward. He pounded on the ice wall, yelling Elsa’s name.

“I don’t think that’s going to help,” Killian said, unable to keep the humor out of his voice.

Liam scowled at him. “Why would they do this?”

Killian arched a brow. “To keep us safe, it looks like.”

“But that’s . . . but we’re supposed to -”

“We’re supposed to save them?” Killian laughed. “Hate to break it to you, brother, but it looks like we’re the damsels in distress in this little drama.”

Liam scowled and kicked and pounded at the ice wall. He finally let out an irritated breath and turned on his brother, his hands on his hips. “They do realize we can freeze to death, right?”

As if the princesses could hear Liam Jones, a crackling fire suddenly sprang up in the center of the ice fortress. Killian threw his brother a lopsided grin before plopping down before the fire and rubbing his hands before the flames. He rolled his shoulder as warmth spread down his entire arm. Hm, Emma had even taken care of his injury.

“I don’t know about you, brother,” said Killian smugly, “but I thought Emma looked incredibly sexy saving my life.”

There wasn’t much one ship could do when surrounded by multiple fleets. The Jolly

Roger had no choice but to fly the white flag of surrender.

Yet the attacking fleets had no interest in the codes of war. Anna’s knees buckled and Henry’s face turned white as the enemy ships prepared their canons. Kristoff hugged them both close, praying to every god he could think of as explosions rocked the air. They all braced for impact.

An impact that never came. When one pregnant moment faded into another, those aboard the Jolly finally, hesitantly lifted their heads. Smoke and embers float upon the air around them, as if the cannonballs were disintegrated before they found their mark.

“Look!” Henry cried, pointing.

Through the smoke, two figures seemed to hover above the ocean waves. Elsa seemed to skate across the water on a sheet of ice, wind spinning through the air around her. Walls of water poised to crash turned to ice in her wake, Emma rode along an updraft, fire at her fingertips, turning the sea water to vapor. Her hair writhed around her, her skin sparking, yet she was not consumed. Elsa’s eyes were of arctic ice - blinding, fiery, and piercing. She was a blizzard incarnate, roiling across the sea. Emma obliterated canon balls then absorbed the fiery explosions, the green of her eyes brighter and sparking like emeralds.

An inferno surrounded the enemy ships, Emma in the midst of them, luminous, incandescent, yet the vessels were not consumed. Elsa rose beside her upon a glacier rising slowly from the sea, hailstones raining down like diamonds. Each crystalized weapon disintegrated, however, on impact, the intent not to harm, but to warn. The ocean bit, chilled, blazed at the hands of the two princesses, pushing back the fleets until finally, each ship flew its own white flag of surrender.

Anna realized she was trembling against the railing, scarcely feeling Kristoff’s arms around her. She was numb, stiff, chilled to the bone. Was her sister now the monster everyone claimed?

“Look!” Henry cried. “They’re leaving! All of them!”

“Ann,” Kristoff whispered to her gently, “Anna, it’s over.”

She shook her head, pressing her face to his shoulder. He gently pulled her away, forcing her chin up to meet his eyes. He grinned broadly.

“They saved us without harming a single ship. A battle without a single casualty, Anna, it’s a miracle!”

She blinked and looked around in awe at the suddenly calm seas. Kristoff helped her to her feet and pulled her close. There, across the water, Elsa calmly walked towards them, snowflake shaped crystals of ice bearing her weight. Emma glided next to her, streams of fire pushing her against the waves. They approached the Jolly Roger with elegant ease, then clambered up the ladder to board. When the princesses’s feet hit the boards, Emma ran immediately to embrace her son, and Elsa stood before her sister, confident and with a peaceful smile upon her face. Anna blinked before words spilled from her lips in a rush.

“How did you do that? And you’re not freezing - I mean, of course you froze things, but you aren’t freezing, and . . . oh gods, how did you do that?”

Elsa laughed as she threw her arms around her sister. “We’ll explain it all soon, I promise.”

“Where are Killian and Liam?” Henry asked worriedly.

Emma bit her lip sheepishly. “Yeah, about that . . . “

Elsa laughed. “Liam will probably want to strangle me for literally putting him on ice like that.”

Emma gave a shrug and tilted her chin. “I think Killian thought I was sexy.”

Killian growled, yanking the tie from around his neck and tossing it to the ground. Liam chuckled and bent to retrieve it.

“Those things are designed for people with two hands,” Killian muttered. “I don’t see why I have to wear it anyway, Emma likes my chest hair to breath.”

“This is a royal wedding, little brother,” Liam countered, “I don’t know that chest hair needs to be on display.”

“It’s younger brother,” Killian corrected automatically, but he didn’t protest when LIam took over fixing his tie. It was a bit odd to be in their naval uniforms once again, albeit this time in the colors of Misthaven and Arendelle, respectively. Killian was proud of his new career, yet he would miss his brother. He arched a brow at Liam teasingly. “Do I call you Admiral Liam or King Liam?”

His brother rolled his eyes. “Technically, I’m Prince Consort Liam Jones. Queens under Arendelle law do not share sovereignty. You, on the other hand, little brother, will be king along with Emma when she takes the throne.”

Killian snorted. “I don’t think either of our lady loves need our help to lead their people.”

“No,” Liam agreed, voice laced with pride, “they surely do not.”

“Are you nervous?” Killian asked, feeling like a lad again.

“There, your tie is perfect,” Liam said, patting his brother on the shoulder, “thank the gods you’ll have a wife to do it for you after today.”

Killian was still getting used to doing things one handed, and normally it would rankle that he couldn’t handle a bloody tie. Yet having Emma at his side to help him through it all? Somehow that didn’t bother him quite so much.

“You dodged my question,” Killian pointed out.

“Am I nervous about standing up in front of two kingdoms to declare my vows? Yes. Am I nervous about declaring my vows to the woman I love? Emphatically no.”

Killian smiled in complete agreement with his brother. Watching the women they loved work so hard with the Quapah to balance their powers by calling on all the elements - earth, wind, water, and fire - and then fight for peace between all the realms had only made them fall deeper in love.

“They’re ready for you,” a voice called from the doorway.

The brothers shared a smile, scarcely able to believe how far they had come from their days of servitude. They followed the Arendelle castle steward into the great hall and took their places on either side of the priest. Killian’s heart thundered in his chest, his eyes intent on the large double doors at the end of the hall. Soon, a trumpet sounded, and the doors opened. His breath caught as he saw Emma in a long, filmy white gown, her golden curls tumbling down her back, and flowers in her hair. Elsa was there too, he knew, but he only had eyes for his own bride.

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house as the crown princess of Misthaven and the queen of Arendelle pledged themselves to their childhood sweethearts in a double ceremony. When LIam and Elsa were declared husband and wife, he lifted her off her feet when he kissed her, the queen throwing her arm around his neck in a very undignified manner.

His little brother, of course, had to outdo him. When the priest announced Killian and Emma husband and wife, he dipped his bride as they passionately kissed. The crowd laughed, hooted, and cheered with joy.

Later, the royals greeted their subjects who crowded outside of the Arendelle palace. They stepped out on the balcony, greeted by cheers and shouts. Instead of fireworks, Princess Emma sent sparks of fire racing across the sky in a rainbow of colors. Queen Elsa then sent giant multicolored snowflakes floating down upon the crowds. The people of Arendelle and those who had traveled from Misthaven celebrated into the wee hours of the morning.

The Queen of Ice, however, slipped away with her husband far earlier. They had their own beauty to create. The Princess of Fire also slipped away with her husband to create fireworks of their own. The Brothers Jones had, in fact, met their match, and they were entirely okay with that.

33. Nou, daar gaat de studie

Blijkbaar ben ik in een sad mood, want ik luister naar It’s a sad song, mijn sad musical playlist. (Nu speelt Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’s He’s My Boy op en ik kan niet wachten om dit live te zien in Amsterdam. Mits het doorgaat. Corona cancelt alles. Daar komen we later wel op.)

Ik heb maar weer eens de wekker gezet en dat was ook nodig. Ik lag redelijk op tijd in bed, maar toen besloot ik om heel veel dingen over de etnografische en demografische geschiedenis van Avatar door te nemen. Ja. Take that in. In mijn vrije tijd denk ik aan de demografische opdeling van een fictionele wereld. Maar dit komt allemaal door Kirima, die met Avatar Kyoshi reisde. Haar etniciteit is water, maar haar nationaliteit is Aarderijk, want ze immigreerde als jong kind. Ik wist dat Kyoshi een gemengde etniciteit heeft, namelijk aarde/lucht, maar in de tijd van Aang is dat zowat onmogelijk. Daar is pure segregatie en etniciteit en nationaliteit komen overeen, terwijl er weer in de tijd van Korra een vijfde nationaliteit bij is gekomen.

Mensen die niets van Avatar weten, hebben nu echt geen idee wat er aan de hand is, maar dit houdt me dus bezig midden in de nacht. Je vraagt je misschien af waarom ik zoveel gedetailleerde achtergrondinformatie over deze serie weet, maar dat komt omdat ik mijn bachelorscriptie over deze serie gaat. Of ging. Ik zie wel hoe dat af gaat lopen.

(Ik ben nog steeds pissig over de slechte kostuums in de Nederlandse versie van Kinky Boots. Anyway, Not My Father’s Son is zeer dramatisch.)

Oké, ik werd dus wakker door mijn wekker en heel snel kreeg ik groot nieuws: de Faculty of Arts gaat dicht. Yup. Als een opfrisser: ik heb lessen op twee verschillende faculteiten, namelijk Social Sciences (MC, B&T, Sociologie) en Arts (GLINT). Wegens het Corona virus heeft Arts besloten om de universiteit helemaal dicht te gooien t/m de 13e.

Caroline zei al dat de faculteiten vandaag gingen overleggen wat het plan van aanpak zou worden. Ik had vorige week al een mail gekregen van Social Sciences met het nieuws dat een crisis team wordt opgesteld.

Eén ding dat ik ook al heb aangestipt is dat de universiteit van Ljubljana een zeer gedecentraliseerde universiteit is. Alle faculteiten zijn totaal los van elkaar en ze werken soms samen onder de naam “University of Ljubljana” en zo presenteren ze zichzelf ook, maar elke faculteit heeft eigen regels enz.

Als een resultaat krijg je dus dat er in tijd van crisis, zoals het nu wordt gezien, er overal verschillende aanpakken worden gehandhaafd. Dit vind ik eigenlijk best slecht. De decentralisatie t.o.v. studiemateriaal etc. is te begrijpen, maar op dit soort vlakken zou ik wel denken dat je een universeel plan zou hebben.

Tuurlijk, de universiteit heeft richtlijnen opgesteld, maar alle faculteiten mogen die zelf inkleuren. Als een resultaat zijn sommige faculteiten open en anderen gesloten. Niet alleen dat, maar de “sluitingstijden” verschillen ook. Mijn faculteit, Arts, is dus dicht t/m de 13e, maar die van Caroline, Social Work, is dicht t/m de 23e. Dan is Animal Crossing al uit! Dan is het officieel lente!

(Six’s All You Wanna Do is zo verraderlijk. Op het eerste gezicht lijkt dit juist een mega vrolijk en leuk lied. De Ariana Grande/Britney Spears geïnspireerde pop-sound is ook een groot contrast met de vele dramatische ballads op deze playlist. Het begint ook heel goed en als een soort van feest, maar het wordt steeds slechter... en slechter... en slechter... en slechter... en uiteindelijk heeft K. Howard een mental breakdown. De studio versie is tenminste nog oké om naar te luisteren, want het is gedeeltelijk gecensureerd en ze hebben al het gehuil en geschreeuw eruit gehaald.)

Zover ik weet zijn andere faculteiten ook nog open. Ik weet niet hoe het bij faculteiten zoals Medical en Law zit, want daar ken ik niemand. Ik weet niet eens hoeveel faculteiten er zijn.

Een kleine Google search later en wow, 26 faculteiten! Mom, holy fuck!

Wel zijn studentenfeesten en evenementen allemaal geannuleerd. Ook het sportcentrum is dicht.

Er zijn maar 16 besmettingen in Slovenië, dus Sanne en ik vroegen ons wel af waarom de universiteit zulke grote stappen maakt. Er zijn 2 miljoen mensen in dit dunbevolkte land en 16 besmettingen. Vergelijk het met het dikbevolkte Nederland met 17 miljoen mensen en 320 (of zoiets) besmettingen en alle universiteiten lopen nog goed.

Ja, oké, ik weet dat scholen in Brabant gesloten zijn, maar dat is echt maar een klein deel.

Maar ja, zijn wij Nederlanders gewoon te nuchter? Er is een Radboud student met het virus en alles is nog steeds “up and running”. Of is er toch iets ergers gebeurd in Ljubljana? Who knows. Not me.

De Faculty of Arts schreef in de mail dat het is als een preventieve maatregel en oké, dat kan ik wel inzien. Ze willen niet dat die 16 ook richting de 320 gaat. Maar dan alsnog: de universiteit stilleggen wegens “maar” 16 mensen?

(Terug naar de ballads. Choosing Not To Know van In Transit is heartbreaking, sowieso op het moment dat de acapella muziek stil valt en als moeder begint te zeiken over de Bijbel.)

Dit is het gekke aan Corona, in mijn ogen. Het dodental en het gevaar is niet eens zo erg. Hiermee bedoel ik niet dat de doden niet belangrijk zijn bla bla bla en dat de besmetting niet erg is la la la, maar dat is niet het grootste probleem. Nee, dit virus legt de hele wereld stil op zowel economisch, toeristisch, cultureel, financieel, medisch en educatief vlak.

De wereldeconomie ligt stil en de toeristische sector werkt niet. Beurzen, feesten, filmpremières enz. gaan niet door. De beurzen gaan naar beneden. Tandartsen en doktoren kunnen hun werk niet meer doen. Scholen en universiteiten gaan dicht.

Damn.

(Ik waardeerde Lea Michele (ja, Rachel in glee) eerst niet in Whispering, het nummer van Spring Awakening. Misschien is het omdat ik Katie Boeck het beste vond in de rol, maar ik ben bijgedraaid.)

Ugh. Genoeg Corona praat. Dat zei ik gisteren ook al, maar deze nieuwe ontwikkelingen hebben wel te maken met mijn verblijf in Slovenië. Ik had natuurlijk niet gedacht dat mijn Erasmus er zo uit zou gaan zien.

(Flowers van Hadestown. Ouch. Eva Noblezada klinkt zo goed.)

Het plan van vandaag was simpel: First Residence Permit ophalen met Sanne. Aangezien Sanne eerst college had, gingen we pas rond 12:00. Op de bus zaten we dus veel te praten over de university shutdown en andere dingen en op een bepaald moment vroeg een oud vrouwtje welke taal we sproken. Ze dacht namelijk dat het Zweeds was.

Wij legden uit dat het Nederlands was, maar hey, is Zweeds niet deel van dezelfde taalgroep? Toen vroeg ze wat we deden in Slovenië en of we al een beetje Sloveens konden. Nou, we komen voorlopig niet veel verder dan “dober dan”. “prosim” and “hvala”, maar het is iets.

Om 12:30 kwamen we binnen en we hadden nummer 20093 en 20094 en op dat moment waren ze bij 20079, dus hoera, minder dan 20 mensen. En wow, het ging best snel in het begin. Binnen een half uur of zo waren we al bij 20089.

Natuurlijk hadden we te vroeg gejuicht. Alweer was een deel van de balies dicht en nu was er een omgekeerde situatie. Vorige keer waren 2 van de 3 balies voor afhaal, terwijl wij aanvraag waren. Nu waren 2 van de 3 balies voor aanvraag, terwijl wij afhaal waren. Nou. Shit.

(Mijn grote enthousiasme voor Dear Evan Hansen is minder geworden, maar So Big/So Small is zo goed. De hele OBC is goed.)

De wij wachtten. Wij waren ook gewoon aan het praten, maar een man die voor ons dat zei dat we stil moesten zijn. Well, fuck you too, sir. Het irriteerde ons, want ze zaten in een gewone openbare ruimte. Wij waren niet eens de enigen die praatten. Er was zelfs een schreeuwerig kind aanwezig. Meerdere keren gaf hij ons nog steeds nare blikken, maar ik had zoiets van: “uhm mate, kick that tiny child in the shins first?”

Wij proberen tenminste nog een gezellige situatie ervan te maken. Wij kunnen er niets aan doen dat hij een ongezellige zak is die de hele tijd op zijn telefoon zat terwijl hij met zijn rug toe naast zijn vrouw zat. Ze hebben vast een leuke middag gehad.

Op een moment gingen ze ergens anders naar toe en, welp, ik vind het leuk om te geloven dat wij hem weg hebben gejaagd.

Dus we moesten wachten. Het was ook raar, want er gingen soms ook mensen voor ons, zonder dat ze een nummer hadden. Gingen die gewoon naar binnen? Nee, want er was ook een bewaker die mensen wegstuurde, dus die mensen die toch eerder naar binnen zijn gegaan, hadden dus een reden.

(Costume Party is zo interessant. Er is een hint van hulpeloosheid. Come From Away is een 9/11 verhaal dat niet focust op New York!)

Dus ja. Uiteindelijk duurde het toch nog 1 uur en 40 minuten voordat Sanne aan de beurt was. Ik zat op mijn telefoon en ik wachtte. Toen bedacht ik me: wat nou als ik weer mega snel aan de beurt ben?

Ja. Bleek dat een balie al een minuut op me aan het wachten was. Sanne zei later dat ze de timer op 47 seconden zag en dat ze zich afvroeg waar ik was. Nou, ik rende meteen naar binnen en 10 minuten later was ik klaar!

Er was wel even gezeik, want Matjaz stond niet in het systeem.

Oké, hij stond wel in het systeem, maar zijn handschrift is zo slecht, dat de vrouwen achter de balie het niet konden lezen. De vrouw achter mijn balie was aan het praten met die naast haar. Gelukkig kon de vrouw aan de andere kant het horen. Zij had net Sanne gehad, dus zij wist wie ze bedoelden. Dus het contract ging ook van persoon naar persoon en ze lachten en op een moment zei de vrouw van mijn balie ook dat het een catastrofe was.

Alles is nu wel geregeld en Sanne en ik gingen toen een burek eten bij NOBEL BUREK. En ja, dat is het voor nu.

Heh. Zowat een uur nadat ik dit had opgeslagen in mijn drafts kreeg ik te horen dat 2 van mijn vakken niet door gaan deze week.

Ach.

(We zitten nog steeds in de sad playlist. Nu speelt Grease’s There Are Worst Things I Could Do. Ik wilde altijd dat Santana en Blaine dit nummer in glee deden. Santana deed dit nummer, maar ze moest het delen met Ms. July en Unique 😕.)

Ik had het erover met Kath. Kath heeft nog steeds geen informatie, dus ze gaat maar morgen naar de uni. Kath en ik waren beide aan het koken en het is wel een contrast. Kath is helemaal bezig met kruiden en groenten en wat dan ook en ik kook simpele basic bitch pasta.

Maar deze keuken is gewoon shit. Het is mega klein. Kijk, waarschijnlijk zou ik nooit van koken gaan houden, maar in Nijmegen nam ik het goede voornemen om meerdere basic bitch gerechten te proberen en dat ging best wel goed.

De enige reden dat ik een lente uit herkende vanwege de game Stardew Valley.

Hier ben je gewoon niet gemotiveerd om veel ingrediënten te kopen, want de koelkast is mega klein. Ik ben ook niet echt geïnteresseerd in veel te koken, want het vriesvakje is mega klein, dus ik kan niets voorbereiden of bewaren. Ook heb je maar 2 elektrische platen en maar weinig pannen, dus zelfs al had ik de geweldige ingrediënten, dan had ik geen plaats.

(Spring Awakening’s Those You’ve Known is eigenlijk het einde van de musical. Wat een depressief einde. Melchior staat te janken op een begraafplaats.)

Oh, terug naar het uni verhaal.

Blijkbaar is de universiteit niet het enige dat gedecentraliseerd te werk gaat. De faculteit dus ook? Alle lessen met meer dan 100 leerlingen zijn zeker afgeschaft, maar de kleinere vakken kunnen het dus zelf bepalen. MC en Sociologie hebben al doorgegeven dat ze niet door gaan. MC gaat niet door t/m de 20e (Animal Crossing day babey!) en Sociologie heb ik pas weer in april, maar dat was al gepland. Ik heb Sociologie namelijk maar één week per maand ofzo, maar ja, nu slaan we maart dus over.

(Something’s Missing van Come From Away is zo’n grote whipslash na het soort van “happy ending” gevoel van het vorige nummer. Happy ending? Nope, welcome back to New York. Two towers are missing.)

Zover ik weet heb ik nog maar één vak, namelijk B&T, maar het kan ook zijn dat we morgen pas te horen krijgen hoe dat gaat. Aan de andere kant, de dude van B&T is die “chill” professor, dus wie weet?

En oké, ik geef toe dat ik heel erg opkeek tegen deze week. Alsnog, meeste vakken zijn om de week/paar weken, dus de vakken zijn slecht verspreid. Ik heb of een mega rustige week, of een mega drukke week. En ja, dit zou een drukke week moeten zijn.

Maar toch ben ik ook wel een beetje teleurgesteld? Ik ben grotendeels teleurgesteld vanwege GLINT en MC. Ik weet dat voordat ik vertrok, iemand ook zei: “Wow, je gaat nu echt doen wat je leuk vindt!” en... ja...

Sociologie viel toch nog grotendeels tegen en al dat gedoe, dus ik ga niet zeggen dat ik het erbarmelijk vind dat dat vak niet doorgaat, maar het is wel een beetje een meh gevoel. Plus, wat moet ik nu gaan doen?

Vorige week had ik dus bijna de hele week vrij en die week ging mega snel voorbij en ik had constant het gevoel dat ik iets wilde doen, maar ik wist niet wat. Alhoewel, Caroline zei dat studenten deze week gratis naar musea kunnen, dus misschien is de timing toch wel goed.

(Ouch. You Gotta Die Sometime. Falsettos is een musical die niet goed afloopt.)

De lessen zijn niet weg ofzo. Het meeste wordt nu gedaan via zelfstudie en mail, of via e-learning classrooms, of via weblectures, maar ik baal van GLINT, want de atmosfeer van de mensen bij GLINT is gewoon mega gay cool en bij MC is het handig om de media samen te bekijken.

Hmm. Dit is gewoon niet hoe ik Erasmus had voorgesteld. Obviously, niemand had dit voorgesteld. Niemand zag het aankomen dat 2020 stil zou staan wegens dit vage virus, maar l’chaim. Natuurlijk ging ik ook niet naar Slovenië puur voor de studie, maar zoals ik net al zei, het was wel een deel ervan.

2018 in-house shows posted!

Once more, no mention on their facebook page or in their emails, but I suppose that’s what I’m here for. If you go to PARF’s website, you’ll find that the list of in-house shows has at last been updated for this season. I took the liberty of copy-pasting it all here nonetheless.

King’s Court King Henry and Queen Catherine host the visiting king and queen of France. Never before have so many monarchs gathered upon a Mt. Hope stage! Will the Master of Revels, Sir Walter Roderick Kensington, be up to the task of entertaining four royals? Join them at the Endgame stage, and watch the saga of the Field of Cloth of Gold commence!

(I am so pleased that they specifically mentioned the question of whether Sir Walter will be able to cope with four monarchs.)

Human Chess King Henry and King Francis, in the spirit of friendly competition, have agreed to match wits in a game of Human Chess. All the denizens of Mt. Hope, from lowly peasants to noble knights, will take the board as members of the kings’ armies. But as the ring of steel fills their ears, and the thrill of battle heats their blood, will the contest stay friendly for long?

Ultimate Joust

As the sun sets upon Bosworth Field, four knights will meet in mounted combat, as a crowd of thousands looks on. Join the royal court and all the villagers of the Shire, in the epic Ultimate Joust that has made Mt. Hope famous.

Finale in Song

As the festival day draws to a close, the town gathers for a final celebration of song, dance, and laughter. Join King Henry and Queen Catherine, along with King Francis and Queen Claude of France, and the entire town of Mt. Hope, in a village event that reveals the very heart of the Shire.

Grand MacGuffin Melee Good Master MacGuffin has not had much luck with his establishment. It seems like every new business venture he tries always winds up in a massive brawl. But this time, he has decided to attract a fancier sort of clientele. Come attend the grand opening of MacGuffin’s Gallerie of Fine Arte. With such a high-class aspiration, what could possibly go wrong?

(I’d finished reading this before I registered that it was for a show I consider storyline, and therefore didn’t want spoilers for. That said, this can only end well.)

Disasterpiece Theatre The Master of Revels, Sir Walter Roderick Kensington, has assembled the shire's best performers (who had nothing else going on at the time) to delight our guests with a masterpiece on the stage. They present a different modern story with a 16th century twist every weekend; and of course when Sir Walter tries to get something done-- anything that can go wrong will go wrong. It will truly be a Disasterpiece!

(As soon as I’d read the title and the fact that the description starts with naming Sir Walter, I was already dying with laughter. I am so glad that character and his particular style of overwroughtness managed to become so iconic. This promises to be fantastic. I predict that they will definitely adapt Mean Girls, if nothing else. I also vote for an adaptation of Newsies. Les Mis would be great, but I dunno that that counts as “modern”, and it’s also a little long, ya kno?)

Bloody Best Attend the tale of Shakespeare’s Macbeth, He Who Would be King of Scotland. ‘Tis forty minutes of brutal combat, murder most foul, and disturbingly comic violence. And blood. There will be blood.

(B l o o d y B e s t i s t h e S c o t t i s h P l a y. Which should be interesting, because the entirety of the grounds count as a theatre, and it’s only safe to name the play if it’s in the script. So what if someone tries to interact with the performers regarding the contents of Bloody Best after the show is over? Would improvised interaction be close enough to keep them safe? Or will it call down the curse if they are forced to utter it in that circumstance? And if the latter is true, will they then be able to get to the edge of the grounds / the gate into the performer-only area [that is, leave the theatre] in time to be able to perform the ritual to lift the curse? Most importantly, am I cruel enough to put this to the test?)

The Sirens The pirate crew of the Relentless Contessa is out for blood and gold...on any other normal day, but today, they are taking a break to demonstrate their fierce musicality, daring boldness, and filthy pirate jests!

(THE SIRENS ARE PYRATES THIS TIME AT LAST FINALLY YESYESYES I HAVE BEEN WANTING THIS FOR YEEEEAAAARRRRS!!!) (No Bloody Shame [THE BLOODY SHAME!] though. I’m sad.)

The Rakish Rogues What happens when two French Nobles and two English Nobles are employed by Their Majesties to entertain the masses? They don't know either! Watch these charming nobles sing revelrous songs and regale you with rowdy vulgarities.

(After years of the Rogues being in some of the more lightweight outfits, their day of reckoning has finally come. Boys, welcome to the excessively heatstroke-laden life of a noble.)

The Irish Revels The three Eugenia Sisters, proprietors of The Wild Rose Inn, are celebrating the return of their father by reassembling the family band. Join them for rousing Irish folk music and quirky family values.

Friday Knights Come see our Improv Track perform feats of mental, verbal, and physical agility for your entertainment! Presented in 2 acts, the first half is a competition of comedy as 2 teams face off against each other in "Whose Line..." style improv games hoping to earn the laughs and love of our audience judges. Then, after the intermission, both teams come together to perform a completely improvised musical based on the audience's suggestion!

(Quite pleased this is back. Rest assured I shall actually attend this time.)

Neighborhoods Kings and Queens are great and all, but what do the average citizens of Mount Hope do on a festival day? Seek out these interactive stories that you can get involved in all over the shire to find out! Provide your expert opinion at a Town Hall Meeting; help track and arrest a wanted thief (or help the thief escape!). Get involved in the happenings of Mount Hope and influence the lives of its inhabitants at these scenarios found not on stages, but in the neighborhoods all around the shire.

Music with Their Majesties Take a break with Their Majesties, as they demonstrate Their musical merits and host the best of entertainment from the realm.

Robin Hood You think you know the story of Robin Hood? You've probably never heard it like our Apprentice of Revels and her rag-tag team are going to tell it to you.

(........ Apprentice of Revels? There’s a Apprentice of Revels now? Sir Walter has a hecking apprentice this year! I’m like really really hyped about this character’s existence. For some reason, my mom is convinced this role is gonna be played by Katie Markey.)

Finale Dumb Show Have you missed every Plot Show during the Faire day? Did you not even know there WAS a plot? Arrive to the Globe Stage 15 minutes before Finale In Song to catch up on what happened in the silliest way possible!

(I am left with a deep-seated happiness over the Dumbshow’s return. But they wrote it wrong. I have it from the actors, it is oNE WORD!)

The Legend of One-Eyed Willy The Cabin Boy of the "Relentless Contessa" has been tasked with finding more members for the ship's Pirate Crew. Come join his crew, and witness the tale of the most feared pirate to ever sail the seven seas! Presented by The Mount Hope Players!

King's Cavalry Join the Master of Revels and The Lady Mayor for some literal horse-play on the chessboard directly before our Human Chess match! Bring your nipperkins so that they may join the King's Royal Mounted Cavalry!

(Everybody who, like me, attends King’s Cavalry because they went to Chess early to secure good seats, Y’ALL BETTER FUCKIN’ CLAP AND CHEER FOR THOSE KIDS, I SWEAR!)

King Arthur: The Legend of Murray Everyone knows that King Arthur was the Wizard Merlin's greatest apprentice, but did you know Merlin had another apprentice after Arthur? Come experience the tale of Merlin's OTHER apprentice: Murray!

Road to San Diego 2017 Announcement #8: New Rugrats comic books coming this October

The first comic book comes to market this October with Rugrats #1, featuring all-new adventures of the most intrepid toddlers to ever bust out of a playpen!

Road to SDCC Announcement #10: BOOM! Studios’ record-breaking Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comic comes to video games for the first time

Synchronous multiplayer fighting game developer nWay and comic book publisher BOOM! Studios today announced the first video game appearance for characters from the top-selling Mighty Morphin Power Rangers comics in Power Rangers: Legacy Wars.

After an in-game update going live later this week, Lord Drakkon – the first new official Mighty Morphin Power Ranger created in over 20 years – and Black Dragon will appear as playable warriors in the smash-hit mobile game, along with various in-game updates and feature additions.

“We love how BOOM! Studios has taken the Power Rangers story to unprecedented and mature places, and now we’re bringing the characters to a new realm with their first appearance in a video game,” said Taehoon Kim, CEO, nWay. “Partnering with them to bring in Lord Drakkon and Black Dragon is the perfect way to bolster Power Rangers: Legacy Wars’ roster with next-level evil warriors!”

Oh help, ik zit op de helft van mijn tijd in Sydney. Aan de ene kant voelt het onwerkelijk dat ik hier al 3 maanden ben en aan de andere kant weet ik niet meer zo goed hoe het voelt om ‘s ochtends wakker te worden in mijn bed in Harderwijk - ik ben zo gewend aan het leven hier. Afgelopen zaterdag gaf Esmee haar verjaardagsfeest. Samen met de andere Nederlandse meiden hebben we de hele middag genoten van het weer in haar zwembad en zijn we ‘s avonds Cronulla in gegaan. Ook hebben we wat interessante pogingen gewaagd tot het maken van een grappige kerstfoto in het zwembad, waarop ik tot 3 keer toe bijna verdronk. Gelukkig heb ik ook een foto waarop ik wél lijk te leven. Op zondag kwam mijn andere vriendengroep vanuit allerlei plekken in Sydney naar Cronulla, ook al was dit voor sommigen zelfs 2 uur reizen. We hebben een heerlijke dag gehad op het strand, heerlijk gezwommen en ‘s avonds pizza gegeten in Nulla Nulla. Cronulla vind ik 1 van de leukste plekken in Sydney. Dat is deels ook omdat het dichtbij is. Ik vind het heerlijk om ‘s avonds de trein te pakken en mijn boek te lezen op het strand (met take away koffie uiteraard). Het is lokaal, er zijn weinig toeristen, in tegendeel tot Bondi of Manly wat ook surfer towns zijn. Zeker een bezoekje waard als je ooit in Sydney te vinden bent.👍🏼 Op maandag bracht ik de dag door met andere au pairs uit de Shire in Miranda. Super leuk om weer wat nieuwe vrienden te maken en aan het einde van de middag heb ik extra op Tommy en Katy gepast. Dinsdag was een super relaxte dag. Ik begon mijn ochtend op Cirqular Quay met koffie en heb een uurtje rondgelopen in het Contemporary Art Museum. Toen besloot ik de ferry te nemen naar Manly om de rest van de dag door te brengen met Lotta en haar hostkid, wat super gezellig was! Steeds als ik op de boot wacht ontmoet ik andere mensen die ook Nederlands spreken, heel toevallig.

De dag was super fijn, we hebben als lunch de beste acai bowls ooit gegeten, rondgekeken in winkeltjes, gekletst en gelezen op het strand. ‘S avonds zijn we heel spontaan wezen bowlen met de rest van onze vriendengroep in Darling Harbour. Bowlen is mijn nieuwe talent, ik was absoluut de beste als je de score van onder naar boven bekeek! Ik heb wel een strike gegooid trouwens. Daarna was ik laat thuis. Vermoeiende maar rustige dagen met Katy en Tommy volgden. 😴 Op zaterdag heb ik een extra dag gewerkt en zondag was weer een heel fijne dag. Buiten was het zo’n 30 graden en ik zat ‘s ochtends vroeg in de trein en bus naar Palm Beach, een suburb in het noorden. Het heeft me meer dan 2 uur gekost om daar te komen, maar het was het helemaal waard. Er is een prachtig strand en een wandel tocht die je naar een uitkijkplaats leid waardoor je zicht hebt over Palm Beach, zie de foto! We hebben eerst de hele dag op het strand gelegen en acai bowls voor lunch gegeten voor we aan de tocht begonnen. Er waren twee verschillende paden, een vlakke wandeltocht en eentje met een 500 meter lange trap. En waar kozen we (gedachteloos) voor? Juist, de trap. Met 30 graden. In de zon. Ik leer het ook nooit. Toen we boven kwamen waren we bekleed in zweet - heerlijk, en kwam ik daar mijn Nederlandse vriendinnen tegen, die toevallig op dezelfde dag in Palm Beach waren. “Hey, ik voel me ranzig,” was denk ik de eerste zin die ik tegen ze uitsprak. De meiden waren met de auto en omdat we dichtbij elkaar wonen ben ik met hun meegereden naar huis. Dat zorgde voor een heel gezellig avondje sushi eten in Cronulla, met als toetje uiteraard frozen yoghurt. Maandag heb ik niet veel meer gedaan dan even shoppen in Miranda en dinsdag heb ik geluncht met Kira en een andere Duitse au pair in Cronulla. Super gezellig wel. Het schijnt trouwens dat ze in Duitsland ook een soort versie van Sinterklaas vieren op 6 december - nooit geweten. Katy en Tommy zijn (weer) ziek en daarom ook extra emotioneel. Als ik aan Tommy vraagt waarom hij huilt bedenkt hij random dingen die helemaal niet kunnen - omdat hij het zelf eigenlijk ook niet weet. Ik heb trouwens ook eindelijk de pepernoten zakken geopend die ik vanuit Nederland had meegenomen - groot succes voor de familie (helaas, want ze zijn op). Ik probeer in de kerststemming te komen door kerstfilms op te zetten voor de kids, maar het lijkt allemaal heel nep. Buiten zie je kerstbomen staan terwijl het hartje zomer is en iedereen er in badkleding omheen loopt - het lijkt alsof ik in een hele slechte film ben beland. Maar grappig is het wel. Ik hoorde laatst van een andere au pair dat haar hostkid een opblaasbare sneeuwpop kreeg voor in het zwembad - dat is toch humor? Ook heb ik mijn ticket naar huis geboekt samen met Loïs die op moment bezig is met haar DTS in Perth! Wij zijn weer terug in Nederland op 30 maart. Voor we terug naar Nederland vliegen brengen we eerst nog een paar daagjes door in Sydney, onwijs veel zin in! Dusseehh tot dan.... X

I'm really pleased with this considering it was made in just a few hours

(all of these blocks are 3.9ix3.9inches (or 10x10cm) and I struggle when it's a lot of detail in such a small space but I still like the dimension that I've managed to get despite the lack of colour.

I'm going to do what I normally do and give it a black border and write "I am my own man" around the border in chalk pen instead of writing it on this because I hate my handwriting and don't want to ruin it!

Will post WIP next.
