Ok. So here’s my Downton Abbey: A New Era review: not really spoiler-y, but might be if you’ve not seen it yet.

I just saw the film this afternoon. The theatre was full, approximately 100 women and about two men. Many came in groups and sat together.

I plan on going back next week because I’m sure I missed some things and I just want to go again.

In my humble opinion A New Era was much, much better than the first movie. Honestly, I can now pretend that the first movie was some bizarre Julian Fellowes dream - a la Bobby Ewing in the shower. All the out of character things never happened. Molesley never made an idiot out of himself in front of the King and Queen and the downstairs crew weren’t running around scheming and playing the tricksters.

A New Era is the movie that should have been made in 2018. I think it hit the right tone between comedy and drama. I would have loved more of a true downstairs plot line, but there were a few nuggets of fan fiction-y stuff to keep me happy.

🗝🍷Chelsie - Seeing Charlie and Elsie at home, reading in bed was worth the price of admission alone, even though it was a short scene. I liked that Elsie was less snippy with Charlie in this movie as opposed to the first film. She was once again the nippy-sweetie as opposed to just being nippy. She was genuinely empathetic to Charlie at the end of the movie when they’ve learned not so shocking news. That’s the Elsie Hughes I’ve come to know and love; don’t know where she was in the first film, but I’m glad she’s back. Same with Charlie. We got to see his different sides, not just grumpy bear. The scene with Mary was touching; I love when Charlie shows his father figure, tender side. Chelsie have obviously settled into a happy marriage and all appears right in their world. Also, in the role reversal scene, Elsie was every inch the upstairs countess. I’d have loved to hear Charlie and Elsie’s conversation about her costume. I have a feeling he was impressed.

Mrs. Patmore - at one point, Mrs. P. looked like she’d just rolled up from her house of ill repute. 🤭😉 But, I’m here for it. The scene with her plotting at the dinner table was funny, and sweet. Mrs. P deserves a happy ending. You go, girl!

Daisy - was much less annoying than normal. Obviously, marriage agrees with her. I enjoyed seeing her and Andy settling into young married life.

Baxley- the movie theatre erupted into applause. Nothing more needs to be said.

Anna and Bates - they are happy. Finally.

Thomas - hopefully, he will finally be happy.

Denker - wtf happened to her hair?

I’m less interested in the upstairs folks, but that doesn’t mean I’m uninterested.

Mary - where is the Blessed Lady Mary? Hello? 😂 Seriously, I like Mary when she’s nice, but I like her bitchy side too. We got one snide remark at Edith’s expense. Maybe Mary has matured which is good because it is clear that she’s the new Dowager. Her life has already paralleled that of her grandmother even down to the type of marriage they have/had with semi-absentee husbands. Still, Mary’s quip game needs some work to live up to her grandmother’s standards.

Edith - is using her brain again. Thank goodness for that.

Cora and Robert - are blissfully happy, but why is Robert so tan?

Tom and Lucy - will be living at Felsham Hall. I wonder what Lady Jane thinks about that?🤔

The Dowager - Dame Maggie Smith - 👏🏻👏🏻. I was warned about the last 30 mins of the film, and that analysis was correct. Two hankies were definitely needed. A group of 20 year olds sitting down from me were sniffling too as were some other ladies at the opposite end.

I will say that seeing a few of the actors was a bit jarring as they have, quite naturally, aged (haven’t we all?). It reminded me that Downton can’t go on forever with all the same actors. Of course, I’d love a tv spin off with the Carson’s running their B&B with Mrs. P and Mr. Mason popping by, perhaps little Johnny Bates comes by after school for cookies. Ah, fan fiction!

It seems like Julian Fellowes has tied up all the loose ends neatly. Carson is back in charge, Cora will live, and Mary is facing up to her destiny as Downton matriarch.

If this is Downton’s farewell, I’m well-satisfied.

The heating system kicks in, muffling Daniel’s groans. He digs his fingers into Star’s hair, curls slick with gel and sweat. The threat of being caught hangs heavily over both of them and Daniel swallows back his next groan.

“Shh,” Star whispers in his ear. “Shh, shh, don’t, don’t scream.”

“Star,” Daniel breathes. It’s all he’s able to say. Star smirks, tightening his grip on Daniel’s thigh. The couch is really not the best place to be doing this, but they both need the release. Theodore is going to come home any minute, they have a party they need to attend, he can’t be going with bruises showing on his neck or with sweat covering his body. 

We don’t have permission. 

The thought sends a thrill down his spine that has nothing to do with how ruthless of a pace Star is setting. They don’t have permission. Every groan his bonded pulls from his lips is illegal, against their master’s will. Daniel wouldn’t have it any other way. 

“Please,” Daniel breathes. The next thrust is at the perfect angle and he yanks hard on Star’s curls.

“Ow!”

“Sorry, sorry, sorry, I didn’t mean–”

Star’s teeth sink into his shoulder. Daniel lets out a cry of his own. It’s too loud. The cameras are going to pick it up. He wrangles back his next cry and forces his fingers to uncurl from Star’s hair. 

“Quiet,” Star repeats, his eyes bright. Daniel smirks, leaning up to steal a quick kiss.

“You know what would keep my mouth occupied.” 

A rich blush covers Star’s face. He looks away, pressing a soft kiss to the bite mark on Daniel’s shoulder. The softness lasts only a moment before Star continues the pace and Daniel cries out. Once he starts, he can’t stop, crying Star’s name like a prayer. 

When they both finish, Daniel pulls Star close, ignoring the sweat and other fluids across their bodies. He presses a soft kiss to Star’s hairline. 

“I love you.”

Star nods, pressing his lips to Daniel’s chest. “Love, love you.”

They are silent for a moment longer, both trying to catch their breath. Daniel runs his hand down Star’s back.

“We need to clean up.”

Star groans and tightens his arms around Daniel. 

“I know, but we can’t stay here forever.” The unspoken he can’t know hangs in the air. 

Star nods and pushes himself off Daniel. As he stands, Star whispers, “I, I, I wish we could stay here, here forever.”

“I do too, my starlight. I do too.”

And one day we will spend all our time together. I promise.

Pile 1

Not staying put - You will be switching homes often. Maybe some of you like to travel or you and your future spouse and kids will have to due to jobs or something? I'm getting long distance travel kind of changes, like abroad from here to there

Energetic swing - Due to the changes in different homes often, the surrounding environments energy will change constantly. However this also makes things interesting because you get to see new things

How cozy - I keep thinking of those homes that are cute and remind you of mom or grandma but with a more modern vibe of course. Your home will be rather comfortable and you (plus whoever else you might be with) will decorate it with love and treat the home as if it were the family

Protective - You will always be on guard. I'm seeing some of you keeping security cameras or financial safes. You will make sure everything is well hidden and kept under wraps. Protective of the home in general. I think you grow a strong bond with your environment so you may be less open to letting just anyone in

Paperwork - I keep seeing books. Desk objects. A study room. Something of this sort. You will have little knick knacks and a work area for sure

It's not what it seems - The inside of your home is more bright and stunning energetically compared to the outside. An example is a city which is always awake, car horns honking away, chitter chatter of the night life, but inside your home is a nice beautiful atmosphere where you can find your own escape from the world

Hoarder? - NOT for everyone. Literally got this as a specific small group or person

What will you find inside your home? - literally had my "everything" card fly out with many other objects. So yes. Everything 🤣. Take what resonates for the objects btw! Again, I got books. Speakers. Glasses. Wigs. Makeup. Hats. Entertainment items. Hobby items you really enjoy. Athletic gear. Hiking shoes and climbing objects. Shoe closet. For some reason I got something to do with the game board clue or some time of criminal/true crime game. Some here will have some spiritual 'good karma' objects from some sort of metaphysical shop

Pile 2

Heavy enough? - For some there may be some dishonesty or arguements in your future home. The energy is kind of like friction. Idk who you will be with at the time but the energy has potential for something better. Don't stiffle that potential I'm seeing you have the drive to make the energy better, it's just whether you choose to do so

Recluse - I'm seeing introvert energy within the home. Not many people know about the inside or the private life within. May stir up some curiosity

Development - I'm seeing budgeting. Your future home will only be a checkpoint for what your really saving up for. I wasn't given info on the main one because it's what your manifesting. Whatever you want for a home will be given, just remember to keep going for it

Self reflection - Again with the recluse, you can do some deep thinking within the home

Motivational - This energy is within the home as well. It's part of your go-getter vibe. You believe you can accomplish whatever you used your mind to.

Hey kiddo - Some here will have kids. I'm specifically seeing 2 but it can be any amount of course :)

How subtle - Living near bodies of water. A beach. 2 story house. I'm also seeing the main majority of you getting the home of your dreams in some way which means 'waiting' will play a big part. Your being encouraged to manifest. This home may be tall.

What will you find inside your home? - Take what resonates darlings!! For a select few, weed. I'm seeing objects used for healing (pisces energy too). Crystals. Scorpio energy. Metaphysical objects (got this in pile 1 too). Plants/flowers maybe a garden. Herbs. Cooking supplies. Something cute. "Smile" maybe something that makes you happy or legit has a smiley face on it. Achievements (awards). Something that some people may find 'crazy'. Water? Like a fountain (maybe even an indoor swimming pool who knows). Medicine. Green items. Something with heartbreak???? IDK. I'm going to interpret this as past items with deep emotional meaning :) Sewing kit. I got a vision of lavender flowers. The word Hibiscus came to my head (a flower). I kept thinking of lilacs as well. Little oasis or pond thing? 😂💖

Pile 3

Energy - There's a lot within the home. Like some people are active. Whether it's your future spouse or kid(s) if you have any. EDIT - I came back to add, yeah, there's a lot of roughhousing energy. It's like boys playing around and stuff 😅😂😂 it's not terrible it's just funny

Rules - I'm seeing some form of strictness or authority for sure in the house. Like there's a set of rules and discipline

Creativity - Creative endeavors won't be shy here. I'm seeing a lot of hobbies and artistic bent people enjoying their time

In and out - Just as it says. However some of you may move often. I got this with another pile too. Theirs a form of haste and an energy of not staying put for a long time

Beautiful - Well taken care of. Decorations nicely put. It's what you desire it to look like

Relaxed - This is the place that you will call your sanctuary. I'm seeing if your trying to find a place to chill out and heal up, this is the go-to. Your friends may offer hang outs or something to help you relax however it's nothing compared to home

Husband + Son - This energy comes out strong. Adjust this how it needs to be according to your gender or wants for the future ^^

What will you find in your home? - Definitely some masculine items. There's a lot of masculine stuff here. I'm getting a lot of casual things as well? Like the typical necessities. Food. Nice clothes, lots of em'. Something with lights came through greatly. Maybe some of you will have some tall lamp lights or LEDs. Something very different from you? (Maybe their your partners items) healing stuff. Paranormal equipment for a few of you. There actual is possibly a legit ghost in your future home 💀. I saw garden statue fairies and etc. Keys (a key rack?) Sexual items. Possibly an animal too, I see fur and got an adorable energy. Video games. A dog?

Neptune vibes - Very fantasy like energy. I'm seeing a lot of daydreaming taking place in this home. Sadly I'm seeing for some there may be some depressive spoutes

Friendly - A place where fights happen rarely. This will be welcoming for anyone who wants to visit or chat in general

Organized - Keeping things tidy is a must. I feel like feminine energy in this house will make sure everythings where they should be

Balanced atmosphere - there's never too much of something

Right there? No no right there - I'm seeing a lot of you redecorating often in terms of looks. Like you might be into one aesthetic then change it just a few months later

Quite simple - A typical place of refuge. It's very stable and ideal!

Large home - Came out for some of ya!

What will you find in your home - Nail polish came out a lot. Nail care stuff! I'm also getting lot of self care here as well, like grooming supplies and face masks, makeup, lipstick specifically, lots of feminine items. A humidifier. Technology, online things. For some of you a cat. Heels came to mind. Dresses. Coffee maker. Corset or a waist trainer. A cage. Something that gives an ethereal vibe? One of those little angel knick knacks. A water purifier.

Feeding renal cat food, trying to hide it to transition & keep from losing expensive$ food. Ugh. [& yeah, trying to basically find a low phosphorus (.3-.6%) which is lower protein isn't easy. Too much crap food out there. I'd never feed a dog old roy. I only feed outdoor cats friskes because they're excellent hunters! I'm not looking forward to what chewy is gonna cost me but blue buffalo it is. Maybe I can find one of the people food for animals, like smalls, that'll work. Sigh. Old, finicky cats. Ugh.

Alright, guess even Ankh couldn’t avoid the keys forever. But at least if she’ll have to reveal anything, it better be on her conditions: she grabs the nearest chair and positioned herself and the room around her not unlike a private confession booth from one of those reality shows. 

 Lights, camera, action.

           “I’ll be honesht, I shtill can’t forget about what happened at lasht year’sh Seminar. I wash sho concerned about doing whatever it takesh to promote my shtore on TV that I didn’t realize how rishky it was to be there until it wash too late.”

How could she forget? The genuine terror and adrenaline she felt when she realized UFO wasn’t handling the Rathalos’ poisonous clawing well? The guilt of  realizing her own desperate ‘greed’ lead to that whole mess to happen.

            “...UFO shaid they didn’t even want to shtay... but they shtayed regardlessh did in order to keep me shafe.” She would have been fine, she’d tell herself. But the thought of the flying saucer being loyal enough to even worry about her safety...

            “...That’sh why I’m not going, even with the free camerash and pressh. The lasht thing I need ish to have shomething like that happen to UFO again becaushe of me. I wouldn’t be able to forgive myshelf...”

 If she doesn’t go, then there would be no reason for UFO to go considering their doubts and previous experiences on it. Right?
