Hi!! First of all i love your fics🩷
I saw you were asking for petitions about lestappen so how about a meet cute between lestappen and an anonymous reader? Like she’s not famous or the child of anyone famous, she’s just a fan of F1 and they meet in like a library or something like that, maybe even the paddock? I don’t know if this makes any sense, probably not.
“Max, for the hundredth time I swear to God we are in a school book.” Charles walks into the library as Max rolls his eyes, trying to understand why is that so important.
“And that’s relevant because…” He was just trying to buy some groceries and bumped into Charles, who was very excited and dragged him out of there even before he could pay for his food. And he can’t say no to Charlie, so.
“That makes us literally legends,” He says, peering into every bookshelf for the correct one. “kids are learning about racing and us. At school.”
“Yea’ that’s actually pretty cool.”
“Oh.” Charles suddenly stops walking, making Max stop in his tracks, bumping into him.
When Max looks up, he’s met with the prettiest girl he’s laid eyes upon. She has a few books in her arms, and is trying to grab one that is on the top shelf.
“Do you need any help?” Charles takes a step closer and then, she’s facing them. She’s silent for a couple of seconds, looking between the two of them.
Next thing they know, she’s smiling brightly at them. “Yes, please. I just need that one.” She points to a black and red one.
Charles tries to grab the book but it’s a little out of his reach. Max tries to hide a smile behind his hands, and doesn’t say anything when the boy turns around, silently asking him for help.
“That’s actually the book we were looking for.”
“You can have it.” The girl pushes the book against Charles’ chest, but he just gives it back.
“You probably need it for school or something.” Max says, giving her his best smile. “We were just trying to see ourselves in that book.”
She raises her eyebrows, immediately opening the book and looking for the picture. “Oh, that’s why you looked so familiar!” She exclaims, turning the book around to show them the page.
And Charles was right, there is a picture of both of them alongside Checo on the podium in Las Vegas last year. There’s a paragraph talking about what is Formula One and who are they.
Yeah, it’s pretty cool.
“So,” Charles says, cheeks burning red. “Do you need it for school? Are you like in senior year or something like that?” Max laughs because he can’t help it. He has never seen him flirting before.
“No, my nephew needs it. I’m just helping.” She then proceeds to introduce herself, saying her name and waving. Max and Charles find it so cute, they seem to have fallen for her charm. And they just met her.
“It’s your nephew a Formula One fan?”
“Actually,” The beautiful girl pulls her phone out of her bag, showing them her lockscreen. She’s there next to a boy in a kart. “He’s into karting and is gonna be so jealous when I tell him I met you two.”
“Well,” Max tries to sound nonchalant but he’s so nervous. He just hopes she doesn’t notice, or Charles because he’s gonna make fun of him for the rest of their lives. “We would be very happy to meet him.”
“Oh my God, seriously? He’ll be so happy if you come to one of his races. He will lose his mind.”
“I was actually talking about Facetime.” Max hates himself when he sees her face falls, but forgets about it the second she’s blushing.
“Just ignore him. Max is nervous because you’re so pretty and he doesn’t know how to talk with pretty girls.” Max wants to punch him in the face. “And you’re like very pretty.”
“You get nervous around pretty girls too, Charles?”
If looks could kill…
The pretty girl giggles, and they turn to look at her so fast their necks start to hurt. “Why don’t you come to the race this weekend and you can see if I get nervous around pretty boys too?”

Salut madame hedgehog moss!
Hi! Your French is really good! :)
I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask for advice on how to fit in with a small rural community, as I chose to live in the woods a few km away from the nearest village because I moved to the countryside in search of solitude. I only leave my lair for groceries once every ten days or so—I'm on a solid "easy friendly small talk" basis with most locals, but I'm only better acquainted with a handful of them, the ones I interact with regularly by force of circumstance (the librarian because I'm a devoted library-goer, the postwoman, the farmer who owns the pasture next to mine...) and that's a level of integration in the community I'm happy with.
I suppose the main thing is to show curiosity and appreciation for the local way of life, rather than expect to live exactly the way you did in the city, but the specifics of what this entails vary a lot depending on locality. Participating in the local small economy, if there is one, is good—I try to attend the yearly events and fairs at the village, like the potter's market; I bought a jumper from the wool shop in town rather than ordering something online, and I buy fruit at the summer market and seedlings for my garden, and some cheeses, from the local farms that sell them, rather than getting stuff from the supermarket even though it would often be more convenient. But I'm glad there are still family farms and local artisans so it's important to support them. There's also a thriving informal gift economy in my village, I offer eggs from my chickens and homemade jams or syrups and later down the line neighbours reciprocate with seedlings or firewood, etc, the more you'll participate in this sort of thing (if it exists) the more connections you'll make.
Another thing re: being appreciative of the local way of life—I know the city people who are disliked around here are the ones who buy land and use it like they would a suburban plot, e.g. build a swimming-pool, mow the grass, remove all 'weeds' indiscriminately (I know brambles are annoying but birds nest in there and eat the berries, you've got to leave some...), or cover their dirt road with asphalt instead of just shovelling some gravel when it gets muddy, etc. Again the specifics vary depending on locality, but people are attached to their local landscapes and way of doing things and as someone who owns some land and has seen the way locals reacted to other people who bought land around here, you're clearly perceived differently if you have a spirit of maintaining and repairing and appreciating the place for what it is, rather than remodelling and innovating and adapting it to what you want it to be.
Also you've got to accept that it can take a very long time to become part of a close-knit community, and try not to take things personally—I remember someone commenting on one of my posts a few years ago that she felt rejected by the people in her village because she was still seen as an outsider, and not allowed to take part in the organisation of some local events, several years after moving there. I wouldn't see not getting to help organise an event as a hostile behaviour towards me, I don't really expect to be included on every level, if locals feel like some things are for people who've lived here their whole lives, okay. I know rural communities are not the most diverse places and I'm not saying to accept discrimination due to bigotry of any kind, but in terms of "being kept out of some things or treated differently because you're not from this specific place", I do see it as something to be accepted. If I'm still seen as a city person and an outsider twenty years from now, so be it, as long as people aren't outright rude about it. I don't think of not being welcome to everything as rude, there are just boundaries that exist and so be it. I'm not saying someone would be wrong for being hurt by this type of exclusion, just that it helps to have this "don't take it personally" attitude when moving to a rural village.
Having a llama also really helps! The only reason I got acquainted with lots of local people in my first year here was because Pampe kept running away and I kept having to knock on people's doors with like a photo of her and go hi, have you seen this criminal. And then people would stop me at the grocery shop or something two weeks later like, did you end up finding your criminal? And I'd complain about her and they'd sympathise and tell me about their own annoying animals. I can't recommend animal misdemeanours enough as a source of friendly mutual understanding with rural neighbours.
Oh and speaking of complaining—another obvious way to integrate in a small community is to fight together against a common enemy. This is anecdotal but last year a state-owned company started to build a metallic structure (I'm trying not to be too specific) outside the village and it spoilt the landscape a bit, and I hesitated to grumble about it when making small talk because I was half-expecting to come across as an annoying city person, complaining about aesthetics while local people's livelihoods would be improved by this thing—but not at all, people also hated the look of it and were like "they hardly even consulted local authorities on this, they think we don't get to have an opinion on what our land looks like" and we went to the town hall to complain and the mayor agreed with us and eventually we complained enough that the company replaced the metal parts with wooden ones, so it at least looks more natural and more discreet in the landscape. It was very satisfying to come together and have this happen, and I never felt more integrated in the local community than when I was in the town hall complaining with everybody else.

As mentioned previously, I like to build my community lots rather than use Rabbit Holes. Instead of taking millions of pictures of all the individual CC, I decided to share sets/pieces that I find useful for making specific types of community lots.

Here’s a preview of the next chapter of my Chenford Fanfiction story. Enjoy!
With that Angela hung up the phone. “Wesley!” she hollered as loud as she dared to without waking up their toddler. “Come to the kitchen!”
He jogged in a minute later. “What’s wrong? They didn’t have the right milk?”
“No. The milk is fine,” she said pointing to the counter.
Wesley saw the grocery bags and started to load them all into the fridge. “So? What’s going on?”
“Tim is in love.”
“Tim? Tim Bradford? He broke up with that Barbie girl a few months ago, right? So, this is someone new?”
“Yeah. It’s the craziest story. He told me the beginning of the story when he was here on Christmas evening, but I think you were giving Jack a bath at the time. Anyway, he was in Denver with his sister and her kids, right? They ended up getting snowed in on Christmas Eve, and he met a woman at the airport. She lives here in LA, and they’ve seen each other every day since! You should have heard him on the phone. He’s totally smitten!” She whacked him on the chest to emphasize her point.
“Tim? Smitten?” he said, pulling the corners of his mouth into a frown and squinting his eyes. “Wow. I can’t imagine what that looks like.”
“I know, right? I told her that he has to bring her to the party on New Year’s Eve, so you’ll get to meet her then.” Then she curled up her lips into a devious smile. “But I am having lunch with her tomorrow, and Tim has no clue!” She cackled at the thought of it.
“Wait, you’re having lunch with her tomorrow? How?”
“That’s the best part of the story. He went all the way to Denver to meet a detective from North Hollywood!” Her mouth was agape in amazement at the coincidence of it all. “And Sergeant Caradine has been trying to recruit her to join our group with the other detectives retiring. He told me today that we’re meeting her for lunch tomorrow. Crazy, right?” Angela was blown away with how it was all coming together.
“Hold on a minute. A detective at North Hollywood? What’s her name?”
“Lucy Chen.”
“WHAT??!!” he said, his jaw practically on the floor. “Lucy Chen?” he repeated.
“Yeah. Why?”
“I know Lucy Chen. We met soon after I started with the DA. She used to date Chris Sanford from my office. I just helped her out yesterday with deal for someone who had information about some mall shooting.”
Now it was Angela’s turn to be shocked. “What? And you’ve been holding out on me?”
“For the record, I had no idea I was holding out on you.” He took a breath and said, “She has long, dark, wavy hair and brown eyes with a petite build. Maybe she’s part Asian based on her name? She’s very kind and compassionate. She seems to care a lot about the people who would otherwise be labeled ‘felons.’ We seem to have some shared beliefs about prosecuting the poor, underserved, and racial minorities. She’s very insightful and a deep thinker. And she always seems cheerful.”
“And she likes Tim?” Angela said, taking in all the information. “Huh.”

Do you know the origin of the name Champignac ?
We'll ... Champignac is a village from Spirou & Fantasio which is one of the most popular classic Franco-Belgian comics. The series, which has been running since 1938, shares many characteristics with other European humorous adventure comics like The Adventures of Tintin and Asterix. It has been written and drawn by a succession of artists ... Spirou and Fantasio are the series' main characters, two adventurous journalists who run into fantastic adventures, aided by Spirou's pet squirrel Spip, the Marsipulami, and their inventor friend the Count of Champignac ... :D

Welcome to La Grande Pâtisserie
Tumblr media
Grace Thomas is excited to announce that today is the grand opening of La Grande Pâtisserie! Everyone in Grace's hometown of Bentwick, Massachusetts, has been eagerly awaiting the debut of this authentic French pastry shop. There's nothing else like it anywhere in town! Bentwick prides itself on being a quaint little village with a high standard of living for its residents, so this is the perfect place for Grace to see her dream come to life.
Tumblr media
In her third book, Grace Makes it Great, it's been a few months since Grace returned from her summer trip to Paris. In that time she has been working hard to make her bicycle-delivery-based baking business successful, but she realizes it may need to start growing much faster! Her grandparents' bakery may have to close down forever if it doesn't stop losing money and business to the local grocery store bakery. So, using what she learned while working at the patisserie in Paris, Grace teams up with her grandparents to turn their bakery into a beautiful, unique French pastry shop.
As for my part in all of this...... like Grace, this opening day is a dream come true. For inspiration, I based this on the bakery playset that was sold as part of her collection when she was the Girl of the Year in 2015. Her bakery was notable at the time for being the most expensive doll item ever released by American Girl, at $500.
Tumblr media
(Later surpassed in 2020 by Joss Kendrick's surf bus, at $650).
Now, of course, nine years later, it's still very expensive when bought secondhand, even when it's sold without all the small accessories. I certainly couldn't ever justify spending that much on one single doll item. And why should I, when I can build something like this with my own two hands, for a lot cheaper? I've already built Caroline's parlor, three arcade video games, a skee ball lane, Kanani's shave ice stand, Grace's pastry cart and bistro set, bedrooms for Josefina and Kirsten, a greenhouse, Rebecca's phonograph, a few small pet habitats, and lots more for my dolls. I like having creative control that lets me expand on the things that interest me the most. I like making or collecting small accessories to supplement my projects. And I like that my renditions can be built at a more realistic scale. The bakery in Grace's collection is scaled so small that it looked more like a child's playhouse than a legit bakery, and so I was shooting for something scaled larger.
I've had Grace in my doll family for four years now, but it's only recently that I've felt like I have enough small accessories accumulated to make the whole thing look top-notch and full of detail. I also can't get out of my head the idea of making a little breakfast joint for my dolls and me to share breakfast and coffee with them on weekend mornings. I'm thinking maybe that will be accompanied by occasional videos showing Grace making breakfast for me and another doll. So keep an eye out for that!
If you haven't seen it already, you can browse Grace's hashtag to check out all the other things I've made and collected for her.
Tumblr media
And here we are...... it's opening day!
So let's take a closer look at La Grande Pâtisserie. Grace is so eager to show off what's inside, and while she does that I'll explain how I made everything (not to take the magic away, but I always hope to inspire other crafty readers who may want to make their own doll stuff). This you see here is only a small part of the pâtisserie! I'll show you the front of the shop, the kitchen, and then the outdoor seating area.
When you walk in, the first thing you'll notice is the pastry case.
Tumblr media
On the top row are the fancy cakes and macarons. The middle shelf has croissants, cupcakes, eclairs, and beignets. The bottom shelf has jelly donuts and petit fours (back row), plus a square of frosted gingerbread, cherry cheesecake, chocolate tart, raspberry tart, and madeleines.
These were all made by me, mostly with clay and puffy paint. A lot of them were based on the little pastries that were part of Grace's collection, some I made for other dolls and other occasions, and a few were based on real bakery treats.
The "glass" pastry case is clear plastic that comes from packaging material, including a few 18 inch-sized doll boxes. Whenever I buy something with this sort of strong but flexible clear plastic, I hoard it for future projects.
Tumblr media
These three cakes were made from layers of foam board. This is a great material to work with because it's easier to cut than wood, very lightweight, can be shaped with sandpaper, and takes paint very well.
Tumblr media
The jelly donut, eclair, and cupcake, all made from clay. The heart sprinkles were not made by me.
Tumblr media
The cherry cheesecake. Those are wooden beads on top of the slice. I used a mixture of glue and food coloring to make the cherry sauce.
Tumblr media
And the little berry macarons. The berries are made from seat cushion foam that I cut up and soaked in red paint.
Tumblr media
The to-go bags (the small one has a croissant poking out) are printables that came from AmericanGirlIdeas.com. I made the croquembouche on the right, originally for Marie-Grace and Cécile. It's pretty big and doesn't fit in the pastry case.
I promise I will show off more contents of the pastry case when the dolls and I start having breakfast together!
Tumblr media
Looking past the pastry case, here's the behind-the-counter setup.
The walls here are a large cardboard tri-fold that I spray painted aqua blue. Everything hanging on the walls is held there by Velcro that I superglued onto the tri-fold, so I can take them down and switch them around. You'll see why very soon.
The art on the walls all came from Pinterest, except for the painting of Provence on the upper left. That was made by an AI image generator. The red display shelves are foam board I painted. I made the menu in the middle (if I haven't said so already, I really love making my own printables/labels/packaging etc. It's the thing I look forward to the most when making doll stuff).
The three under-counter refrigerators are product pictures I found through a web search. They're glued onto a panel of foam board, which is glued onto a cardboard box to give it strength to hold the accessories on top. If you look closely, you can see little squares of Velcro in the upper left and right corners. That's there to attach another panel, which you will also see very soon.
Tumblr media
The coffee maker was a thrift store find, but it originally came in a set of three toy appliances. This is so fun to play with. It really "brews" coffee; if you fill that little reservoir (covered with a sticker) with liquid and hit the button, it will dispense the liquid into the cup below while making coffee brewing noises. I made the coffee pot using this tutorial. Directly above the coffee maker is a shelf of white mugs, which I bought from Amazon.
On the left is the toaster. It makes real "toasting" noise and pops the toast up when the timer is done. The sticker on it and the coffee maker came from Farm and Feast: Gather Together with Friends and Food, an activity book & kit published by American Girl.
In between the toaster and the coffee maker is the waffle iron. I made that from a makeup compact.
Tumblr media
I made the waffle from painted clay. And I only realized now that maybe the waffle should be lined up with the hinge and not at an angle....
Tumblr media
Grace is demonstrating here how her machine can brew both pots of coffee AND shots of espresso!
Tumblr media
Over here is the blender. The toy appliance set did originally have a a blender in some versions, but I've not found it at any thrift store and so I just made my own. This is made from two clear plastic cups, one for the base and one for the blending part. The lid, which by a beautiful coincidence was the perfect size, came from a fancy container of gelato, and there's a smaller metal lid on top of that. The little blade inside is just a metal wingnut glued to a metal washer. The base is painted pink and it's glued to a mason jar lid ring. I designed the button panel, and the buttons are pony beads painted black.
The little box of chocolates on the red shelf were made by me as well from clay and puffy paint.
Tumblr media
Grace can make blended coffee and smoothies in the blender. The milk and orange juice containers are printables I found somewhere on Pinterest and can't remember where. I made the little yogurt from a Keurig coffee pod filled with clay and topped with some white puffy paint. The little plastic containers of blueberries and cherries came from a Make it Mini set. The bowl of fruit contains berries, peaches, and bananas, which I made. I did not make the grapes, but found them at a thrift store attached to a set of plastic napkin rings.
Tumblr media
On the top shelf on the wall, Grace has displayed three baguettes and a bag of biscotti, which are twice-baked long cookies that pair nicely with coffee. These are all made by me. I designed the paper bags holding the baguettes, while the biscotti bag was a printable from American Girl Ideas.
Tumblr media
I also made Grace's dress, based on the Opening-Night Outfit from her collection. (And if you notice that my Grace looks slightly different from other dolls, it's because I enhanced her freckles a bit).
Above her right shoulder, on the bottom red shelf, you can see the little pineapple cake that I made from a Make it Mini set. The little pineapple rings and cherries came in those tiny plastic containers next to the blender.
Now that you've seen the front of the shop, let's check out the kitchen!
Tumblr media
As much as she loves working in all parts of the shop, Grace's favorite place to be is in the kitchen, using her hands, making the magic happen.
Tumblr media
It was in the process of creating that Grace found her passion. She considers baking a form of artistic expression. Here she is trying out a new recipe for pain au chocolat, which is like a chocolate-filled croissant. I think this is what she might be serving me the next time I stop in for breakfast.
Tumblr media
Some common ingredients she uses are flour, sugar, eggs, butter, vanilla, baking powder, nuts, and jam.
I made pretty much everything here, except the text on the labels, which also came from Farm and Feast. I also didn't make the label for the butter box. The little containers of baking powder and vanilla are my favorites. The vanilla extract bottle came with a Miniverse Make it Mini surprise package. I made the label for it as well. And the baking powder is just a tiny glass jar from Dollar Tree, with a label attached, which I did not design.
Tumblr media
Here's a wide shot of the kitchen counter. She's got two ovens, a proofer/holding cabinet, and a few shelves for stainless steel dishes.
The counter here is actually the same one seen in the previous pictures, behind the pastry case. This panel with the ovens and dishes attaches with Velcro to the refrigerator panels. I just printed out the three pictures and glued them to the panel. The left side and middle panels were generated by an AI image maker based on my prompts, since I couldn't find a real picture of exactly what I was envisioning. The right side panel is a product photo of industrial double ovens.
On top of the counter, I've put a few mini kitchen tools: a stock pot, a colander, a box grater, and a stand mixer. Hanging on the wall are mixing spoons, spatulas, and an oven mitt.
Tumblr media
All of these dishes and tools were thrift store finds, with the exception of the oven mitt, which came with Farm and Feast.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On the left is a stove top (another printed image) that attaches with Velcro onto the pink marble countertops, and that's her crepe pan in the picture on the left. It's a real cast iron pan that I was gifted this past Christmas, and as I thanked the giver all I could think of was how cute this would look in my doll-sized kitchen.
Grace's adorable cupcake shirt and black apron were not made by me, but are from her original collection.
Let's go look at the outdoor seating area.
Tumblr media
This is the other side of the cardboard tri-fold. I spray painted this red and then printed out the windows and door image.
I also made Grace's shirt and skirt. It's based on Grace's Sightseeing Outfit from her collection.
Tumblr media
The shop has an outdoor seating area where customers can bring their pastries, breakfast, or coffee and enjoy them in the open air.
This table is a revised version I made a few years ago for Grace, based on the bistro set from her collection. It is seriously such an easy craft, anyone can do it. I used an inexpensive marble-print cardboard cake board from Michael's, glued it onto a cardboard tube taken from a roll of paper towels, and glued that to the base which is made from a black plastic takeout container. I gave the tube some extra stability by gluing it inside of a prescription drug bottle. Then I painted the tube and bottle black; the base is black plastic.
The chair was a lot trickier. I made this a few years ago with flexible plastic-covered wire, and the seat is cardboard with a cushion glued to it. I really had to force that wire into shape, and used floral wire to hold it together. Then I spray painted it red.
Tumblr media
Putting the red chair in front of the red storefront kind of makes it disappear, so I'll bring back some pictures of the first version of her bistro set that I made in 2020 (one of my earliest pandemic projects).
Tumblr media
These pictures are from Grace's trip to Paris! She got lots of inspiration there for how she wants her own shop to look. Here she is eating at her aunt and uncle's La Pâtisserie.
The turquoise menu board is just foam board that I painted, with a dowel as the pole. At the time I made it, I didn't have a printer, and I usually just did all my printing at the library. But the library closed during lockdown, and so I had to freehand paint and draw everything! The tabletop here is painted as well, but I like the cake board version better.
Tumblr media
The croissant, brie cheese, and berries are made from clay. The little Eiffel Tower is a foam board base and some of that rigid clear plastic for the menu holder. The cup came from Dollar Tree, and the green straw is actually a small leftover piece of that flexible wire the bistro chair is made from.
So that's everything! I spent very little money on all the supplies, and used upcycled materials as often as I could. This won't be the last you'll see of the shop. This was definitely a huge time investment, and so I'll be using it often from now on.

And They Were Roommates - Sophomores
Lol, I did all the years, but I think the sophomores are my favorites.
~~~~~
Jamil, Kalim, Floyd, Riddle:
Terrible mix of chaos and order here.
Floyd: Let’s do (probably something stupid).
Kalim: Okay!
Jamil & Riddle: NO!
Obviously, Jamil and Kalim share a room. That leaves poor Riddle at the mercy of Floyd. Especially since Jamil doesn’t dare leave Kalim and Floyd unattended together. And he doesn’t wanna deal with Floyd on his own either.
Many have learned to open the door to this dorm slowly and cautiously. You’ll never know if you’ll end up with a face full of explosion, a shouting match, rigorous activity, or a study session.
Probably the most unpredictable room of all of them honestly.
Jamil keeps the group fed and Riddle tries to keep them organized. I say try because Floyd, who’s priority is to keep things entertaining.
One day, there’s cereal in the cupboard. Next, it’s Kalim. Or Jade’s shrooms. Who knows. But we all know who’s fault it is.
There have been petitions to get Floyd kicked out, but the headmaster doesn’t care and Jamil refuses to get in the middle of that, by extension keeping Kalim out of it.
There is one thing they can all agree on though.
Croquet…Oddly enough. It’s sophisticated enough for Riddle, competitive enough for Jamil and Floyd (especially throwing in trick shots), and Kalim’s pretty excited to do anything with his “friends.” Or so he says. Also got a slight competitive side.
Sometimes putt putt makes a good substitute though. Depends on their mood.
And whether or not there’s a windmill. Floyd’s not allowed around windmills. Neither is Kalim now.
C’est la vie.
 Azul, Jade, Ruggie, Silver:
Scams galore here.
And Silver.
Azul rooms with Jade and Ruggie with Silver.
No one is safe in this dorm, except each other. Sometimes.
There’s a whiteboard on the wall dedicated to “favors.” AKA: who owes who what.
Silver’s column is usually chalk full. Because someone is always waking him up for class and clubs and stuff.
He usually does the grocery shopping to repay these though. Or he goes with Ruggie or Jade to help carry the things.
Ruggie and Jade keep the kitchen stocked, but not with the usual things. Ruggie can make garbage gourmet while Jade’s cooking tends to be a bit more…shroom-oriented??? The two work together really well on cheap, mushroom-themed dishes, but that’s all there’s gonna be for the next week.
It usually takes Azul putting his foot down to make either of them make a normal meal. Silver doesn’t care (not when he’s only eaten Lilia’s cooking his whole life).
Azul likes to think he’s head of the dorm. Jade and Ruggie agree (on the surface).
Admittedly, Azul’s smarts have certainly brought the room’s grades up. His studying so that he can con the entire freshman class takes up the entire living area and essentially gives the others the chance to absorb some of that info.
And if a page or two goes missing, Ruggie probably has it.
Heaven help whoever brings Azul, Jade, and Ruggie together to form a plan though. And don’t expect sleepy Silver to save you.
OC Introductions #3: Lena
So Transgender Stoner won the poll, honestly wasn't a very fair match. And since I figured she'd probably win anyway, I've spent all day extending their lore.
Also, I haven't mentioned this before, but if you want ask anything about my OCs, feel free to use the ask box :3
As per usual, OC images are picrews unless stated otherwise. I'll link the picrews at the bottom of this post. It's not my art. Don't credit me with it.
Soléne Monique De La Riviere, or as her friend know her, Lena Riviere, is pretty tall. She's 6'0", or 183 cm. She has kobicha-toned skin, and is generally lean. She's skinny with long arms and especially long legs, having a petite build. She isn't particularly muscular or strong, and looks more like she'd shatter and make the dry bones noise. Her eye colour is...unknown. Lena's most defining feature is her hair. She has a massive blonde afro that extends out past her shoulders, with curly hair completely obscuring her face from the cheekbones-up. Almost no one has actually seen her eyes, and she puts a lot of effort and money into keeping her hair big. I've failed to mention face shapes before, but Lena's is rounded with soft cheeks and a defined nose. She wears lipstick in a lot of different colours, but her favourite is black. Lena is also COVERED in tattoos. She has so many and they cover almost every inch of her body. Some are good, some are bad, some are meaningful, some aren't. She dresses supremely gay, her most iconic outfit being an unbuttoned blue hawaiian shirt with a thick-strapped tank top underneath and high-waisted jeans.
Now, on to her personality.
Lena - ISFP, 7w8.
Lena fits quite poorly into personality archetypes. At her core, the best way to describe her is that she doesn't care. She's by far the most introverted of the group - not because she hates people, but because she's just ambivalent to them. She doesn't have much to say, and would rather observe and think about something than engage with it. She wholeheartedly believes most problems are caused by people caring too much about things that don't matter. And this is how she lives her life. Some accuse her of wasting her time and never trying, but she's perfectly content with getting Cs or Ds cuz "she didn't fail." While in many ways she's pretty relaxed and often tries to get others to join her - especially with how much she smokes 🍃  - she can often come off as emotionally detached and uncaring, and this can lead to issues when not caring isn't an option. Lena is the quiet one of the group. She eases the stronger personalities around her just by encouraging people to take basically everything less seriously, and serves as a foil to Roselyn's intense caring about *everything*.
Lena speaks English and French fluently, and her pronouns are She/They. She majored in Philosophy and was briefly in law school as a former gifted kid, but quit after realizing it wasn't she actually wanted to do. She's the lead vocalist and guitarist for the reggae fusion band Daughters of Sekhmet, which runs from 1987 to 1999, but for the first few years she also works as a grocery store manager. She loves music, watching TV, and hanging with her besties. Her favourite season is Winter, her birthday is January 17th, 1964, and her favourite food is soup. She's a vegetarian and refuses to eat meat. Lastly, she also doesn't label her sexuality. She pretty much just picks people at random and is like yeah, I want to date and/or fuck you. Those people are usually women but can be of any gender. Image 1 source: picrew.me/en/image_maker/1706331 Image 2 source: picrew.me/en/image_maker/1469769
Caved and did a few more errands today - namely forking out the money for a microwave. I did find one that was the size I wanted and a good price, so there’s that. Bought a couple more grocery things I had forgotten. Still was plotting what to make for dinner and going “fuck, need that. Forgot that. Still need that.”
Learned you can totally freeze pasta sauce, so that takes care of my “pasta sauce jars are so big and I am only one person” problem.
So tonight I made pasta. Penne noodles, garlic tomato chicken sausages, and a la rosa alfredo - which was delicious. Added a bit of milk to it, tossed it all in a pan, wala.
I am plotting making a stew this weekend. I bought some petite sirloin steaks, and it’s supposed to rain on Sunday…. We’ll see!
I have a bit of tonight’s dinner leftover so I’m gonna save it for Tuesday night’s dinner, since that is my late work night.
I fed Bailey too and he finally ate his food all in one go. Maybe he liked we ate at the same time.
Tant de cœur ont battu, déjà, sur cette terre Et les petits objets blottis dans leurs armoires Racontent la sinistre et lamentable histoire De ceux qui n'ont pas eu d'amour sur cette terre.
La petite vaisselle des vieux célibataires, Les couverts ébréchés de la vueve de guerre Mon dieu! Et les mouchoirs des vielles demoiselles L'intérieur des armoires, que la vie est cruelle!
Les objets bien rangés et la vie toute vide Et les courses du soir, restes d'épicerie Télé sans regarder, repas sans appétit
Enfin la maladie, qui rend tout plus sordide, Et le corps fatigué qui se mêle à la terre, Le corps jamais aimé qui s'eteint sans mystère.
So many hearts have already beaten on this earth And the small objects nestled in their cupboards Tell the sinister and lamentable story Of those who have not had love on this earth.
The little dishes of old bachelors, The chipped cutlery of the war view My God! And the handkerchiefs of old ladies The inside of the cupboards, how cruel life is!
Objects tidy and life empty And the evening shopping, leftover groceries TV without watching, meals without appetite
Finally, illness, which makes everything more sordid, And the tired body that mixes with the earth, The body never loved which dies without mystery.
Après avoir saigné, après avoir délaissé l’adolescence du geste coupant, coupeur, j’ai senti la honte. Pas de relief, mais de la grosse honte.
C’était inconnu, étranger comme sensation. Avant, ça faisait du bien de saigner. Maintenant, non. J’aurais eu besoin de ce soulagement-là, mais c’est peut-être mieux qu’il soit absent, parti, bye. Comme ça au moins, ça donne moins le goût de recommencer.
J’ai recommencé deux jours plus tard. Mais j’ai arrêté vite. Ça brûlait, ça faisait rien et je clot trop vite pour avoir un petit effet de manquer de sang.
That’s the apartment I did not get. I said yes, but the woman wanted to wait for the first person to visit. I was the second. Even though I said yes by the end of the visit, she has principles. Fuck them, I wanted that place. I could already imagine myself reading there, working near the window. I also loved the living room. Wanna see? It’s beautiful, I tell you.
The witness
I always liked to witness blood escaping the body in warm bathwater. It doesn’t know where to go when you cut in surface. It doesn’t have time to think about where it’s going when you cut deeper. It dances, stays around for a bit. Sometimes, it partly attaches to your skin, your cut. Part of it wants to leave, gets influenced by the slowly moving bathwater. Back and forth it goes. But still, attached. Like me to life. I’m still attached. I could end it all right away, cut the pain away, cut my anchor (I hate boat references but I never pretended to be an original), I could fuck it all, I could go bye-bye, but I’m still attached to this plane, to this earth, to fewer and fewer people who still deserve not to have a phone call telling them someone’s dead.
There are still a few good human beings on the planet. Yes, apartments cost more than I can pay for. Groceries too. What else? Cars, yeah. With the money I get from working like a maniac for people who throw scissors at me and tell me daily to fuck off, I can’t afford life. That makes me mathematically fucked. Maybe I could find a rich man and seduce him into giving me groceries, a car, a place to live and in return I’ll drop a couple babies. That could work. But I’m getting older, soggier, fatter, uglier, sadder. I don’t have that beautiful naïveté to offer the world (anymore). Although, to be honest, I don’t think I ever had it.
I told my mother the other day that before understanding the concept of virginity, it was taken from me. I grew up in a very open environment, but virginity as a concept still existed very much. Religion too.
If I wanted to be an author, I’d have to read it back. Writing is only therapeutic here, on this page. Not meant to be enjoyed.
Sometimes, I surprise myself and write tag words, specific ones to attract a reader. They come and they go. Sometimes, they even come back and write me. That’s nice. I’d like new friends.
I have two friends. They are awesome. I feel a change coming, I don’t know yet if it’ll be a positive one. S wrote me on a dating app and I couldn’t stop smiling. Couldn’t look away. I need to feel things again, but in a positive way. Bleeding is not as fun as being courted.
Ça ne ressemble à rien !
Quand Piet Mondrian était encore enfant, et qu’il s’appelait encore Mondriaan (avec deux a), il aimait beaucoup les couleurs primaires. Bien sûr, il admirait aussi les tableaux de son compatriote van Gogh, avec leurs couches épaisses de couleurs vives juxtaposées ou écrasées. D’autant qu’il y soupçonnait déjà une révolte contre le maniérisme du siècle précédent. Plus tard pourtant, il leur trouvait une faiblesse rédhibitoire : c’était du figuratif. Autrement dit, ça « ressemblait » à quelque chose. Car dans les tournesols du brave Vincent, on reconnaissait encore des tournesols. Piet se posa donc la question à mille florins : comment se débarrasser de cette manie d’imiter la nature ?
Il fallait d’abord habiter Paris, la ville qui était la concentration la plus dense de génies picturaux. Ensuite se laisser tenter par le cubisme florissant. Pourtant, la Dora Maar de Picasso, malgré ses déformations géométriques, ressemblait encore à Dora Maar. Et La Portugaise de Braque avait encore un corps de femme, découpé en morceaux épars certes, mais à coup sûr une dame aux galbes indéniables. La seule solution, c’était de peindre comme ce génial Russe Kandinsky : jeter trois couleurs sur la toile et appeler cela Jaune-rouge-bleu. Vous dites que ça ne ressemble à rien ? C’est exactement ce qu’il a voulu exprimer. C’est du non-figuratif, du pur abstrait.
Fidèle à ce principe, Piet prit donc un tube de rouge, un autre de bleu, un troisième de jaune ou de noir et étala tout ça soigneusement sur la toile. Mais alors, en respectant bien les lignes horizontales et verticales. En appliquant bien le colorant sans traces de pinceau, comme font les peintres en bâtiment, pour obtenir des aplats unis, des formes anguleuses, qui ne représentent rien d’autres qu’elles-mêmes. Une fois le travail achevé, pas besoin de se creuser les méninges pour trouver un titre, comme l’avait fait Cézanne pour La Montagne Sainte-Victoire. Ce sera simplement une composition numérotée. À la limite, on pourra ajouter, à l’intention du spectateur qui n’aurait pas compris (ou qui serait daltonien) : rouge, jaune et bleu.
Mais à la réflexion, se dit Piet Mondriaan (devenu entre-temps Mondrian), pourquoi encore utiliser des tubes de peinture, des pinceaux et des palettes ? En 1940, ayant déménagé à New York, il trouve dans la première « grocery store » venue des bandes adhésives en plastic de diverses couleurs, qu’il suffit de coller sur une toile pour obtenir une composition. C’est notamment l’origine de New York City 1, qui date de 1942, un tableau rien qu’avec des rubans rouges, jaunes, bleus et noirs collés à angles droits. Or après sa mort en 1944, on trouva cette composition non encore signée, qu’il fallait encadrer en vue de la vente et de l’exposition. Pour indiquer ce qui faisait partie de la succession, un administrateur griffonna le nom Mondrian au dos de la toile. Plus tard, en découvrant ce carré abstrait, le galériste du Museum of Modern Art de New York, se demanda dans quel sens il fallait l’accrocher aux cimaises. C’est évidemment une de question qu’on ne se pose pas pour L’enlèvement des Sabines de Rubens ou pour la Leçon d’anatomie de Rembrandt. Mais comme la signature se trouve souvent en bas du tableau (ici elle figurait au dos), il s’inspira de cette coutume pour trouver la bonne orientation. Et quand en 1980 on accueillit la toile à Düsseldorf, personne ne la remit en cause. C’est seulement lors de la récente rétrospective de l’œuvre de Mondrian que la commissaire de l’exposition s’aperçut d’un petit problème. À l’en croire, pendant plus de 75 ans, ce tableau avait été exposé à l’envers. Les Allemands l’avaient heureusement remis à l’endroit, sans pouvoir assurer pour autant que cette inversion ne ferait pas décoller certains rubans. D’où notre question ingénue : « Et alors, pourquoi cette remise d’aplomb ? » Réponse : « Vous ne voyez pas que l’artiste s’est inspiré de la conception rectiligne des rues et gratte-ciels de New York ? Et qu’avec les rubans bleus, jaunes et noirs en bas de la toile, ça donne une profondeur de champ extraordinaire ? »  Nous  : « Non, on ne voit pas ! Car même si ça s’appelle New York City, ça ne ressemble pas à New York City. Surtout que, selon la conception même de Mondrian, ça ne doit pas ressembler. Ça se veut un ensemble de carrés et de rectangles délimités par des rubans adhésifs de différentes couleurs. On peut donc les regarder selon les quatre orientations possibles d’un carré. Et si on en a envie, on pourra même l’accrocher comme losange. Pense-t-on que les milliers de visiteurs qui l’ont regardé (et parfois admiré) depuis trois quarts de siècle se sont trompés ? Celui qui, selon son propre aveu, n’avait pas d’autre prétention que de construire des lignes et des combinaisons de couleurs sur des surfaces planes, aurait-il jamais été à la merci d’un envers ou d’un endroit ? "
