Today on "I did not plant this". Leucocrinum montanum (aka Sand Lily), the only plant in it's species. These are commonly found in the Rocky Mountains, but they're also native to the west coast of the US.
I had to take a quick picture as (to my knowledge) they only bloom for one day. It died back to the ground over the winter so I had no idea if I'd see it come back and I'm really excited it did (and with more blooms, as last year it only had one flower). It's the only one in the yard and while they're not endangered, I never see them anywhere so it was difficult to identify without the blooms.

Stems stay very low. Flowers are white with yellow…

Lawn Weeds Are Low Down
Lawn Weeds Are Low Down
Lawns require significant maintenance and weeding. Weeds are constantly a problem here. There is no season in which every sort of weed is inactive. As some annual types finish dispersing seed and die off for winter, others begin their season. Most weeds just happen to be most active as winter becomes spring. They try to stay ahead of desirable plants. Lawn weeds have been proliferating faster…
