So I know a usual criticism regarding the introduction of Anodites, and hence linking magic and more specifically Gwen's powers to aliens, is about how they sort of "robbed" the franchise of one of its core elements. But have you ever thought that, given the additional information from the OS, something like that might have been Man of Action's intention all along?
I mean, Omniverse retconned Bezel as a part of the franchise. He was introduced as the greatest sorcerer in the universe, as a person, but that was only because the team couldn't get their hands on all the pop-ups from the original show.
Tumblr media
You know what the pop-ups said?
This:
Tumblr media
Bezel was never supposed to be a great sorcerer, but a different dimension that was more technologically advanced than Earth! The charms only seemed magical because they were literally too advanced for humans to really understand how they worked.
That's how Gwendolyn was able to wield them in the future even though she destroyed them years ago. She went to the dimension of Bezel and asked for new ones.
Tumblr media
So given the charms' initial origins, the fact that there were more advanced magical artifacts that, for some reason, Gwen could handle just fine (the Staff of Ages), and the heavy sci-fi setting of the show, is it really that difficult to believe what we came to know as magic was, deep down, some sort of alien energy/technology we didn't understand or know of?
Because it that was Man of Action's intentions all along, then having Gwen's proficiency with magic be due to belonging to a race of mage aliens is a perfect way to answer the questions raised back in the OS.
Now, this admittedly seems like it's disregarding a beloved aspect of the franchise entirely. I personally would feel cheated too if it turned out there was no such thing as magic in the first place, but luckily UAF managed to avoid just that with the introduction of the Alpha Runa and Ledgerdomain.
Tumblr media
Although I just found this pop-up that seems to indicate Hex and Charmcaster were originally intended to be from Bezel, as well.
Tumblr media
Having said that, if you ask me, I think that in the end the UAF team did a perfect job at blending both interpretations.
If Man of Action did intend to reveal magic was just something too advanced for humans or that we simply didn't understand or know of, the introduction of Anodites and mana covered that splendidily. And on the other hand, the Ledgerdomain lore served its purpose of keeping magic alive and real.

The fact that they made it mostly indestructible in one afternoon is really impressive though.

Thinking about anodites and how ‘they don’t have DNA’ to scan, then looking at Alien X and celestialsapiens and calling bullshit, the Tennysons all have a little bit of anodite within them if the spark for magic is hereditary. But that comes with a follow up question; if anodites like celestialsapiens - bizarre and powerful humanoid aliens of great mystery - have at least one strand of DNA, how does one make Gwen’s abilities unique and stop Ben from potentially stealing her style?
The answer? Technology doesn’t work right around magic.
Mana, the life force of anything and everything from plants to creatures to sapient beings, has been described as the make up for an anodite’s physiology. But simply being a ball of mana as a being with thoughts, feelings and a distinct personality, Gwen (if you’d allow me to continue under the UAF retcon for a moment) could not and would not have an anodite form were there no alien genetics. This, though a little simple to say, is why anodites have DNA; they can have ‘blood’ relatives.
But why can’t anyone with a DNA scanner (that which includes the Omnitrix itself) get a read on an anodite’s genetic code?
Well, while yes they have a form to which they base their existence in (one which can morph into the many shapes of the galaxy), they have an unspeakable excess of mana that notoriously Does Not Compute with any form of technology and otherwise non-living constructs. Even the greatest minds in the galaxy - in multiple perhaps - cannot counteract the fundamental rivalry between life and machine where Azmuth, First Thinker of the galvan and very creator of the Omnitrix, still does not understand mana and magic and especially how to combat that in the development of tech. It’s practically a non-issue on Galvan Prime worrying about magic for the heavy industrialisation and tech evolution have overridden a lot of the baseline mana flow.
In this regard, alongside many, anodites and galvan differ. Anodyne much like Aldabra and Anur Phaetos have intersections with the plane of Ledgerdomain, which fill the planet with raw mana from the magic reality. But unlike the latter 2 planets which have a thin veil but a still present separation, Anodyne just straight up converges, runs parallel to and otherwise is twisted into knots between the planes of reality and the magic dimension. The extreme excess in mana for anodites is a direct consequence of their planet being overwhelmed with pure raw mana that there needed to be a place to go, finding itself if the people.
It is with that overflow of mana that anodites possess the ability to shift their forms into the shape and features of another being. By proxy of it being mana - life force in its purest - there can be anodites who take the form of plants and anodites who live their lives as free spirited animals, the most common variation of shapeshifting anodites are those that replicate sapient beings to do whatever the heck they wanted to do in whatever peoples they found themselves amongst.
If Ben were to somehow get an anodite selection, his transformation would only be a fraction of what an anodite is born to be, the fundamental function that mana plays in an anodite’s life would be locked behind the barrier of the Omnitrix’s technology. Instead, they would be a formless being akin to Goop or lenopan (perhaps in a gaseous form because nebulas and stuff) for all of an anodite’s qualities spout from the inherent magic of their existence.
And that’s a wrap on that one, haha- I’m gonna skedaddle *skitters instead*

Here's what may very well be in my opinion one of the most interesting pieces of "What Could Have Been" or "cancelled media" that I think could've actually been awesome. So here's everything that I was able to gather on it and it was a looooooooooot.
Originally back in 2011/12, Dwayne McDuffie conceived of and was looking to develop a Gwen and Charmcaster spin-off series which he mapped out a fair amount of it and actually planned it out through-and-through. But what ended up happening to throw it out the window was as simple as can be — Dwayne McDuffie died. Therefore it ended up getting replaced with the still polarizing Omniverse.
So let's begin, shall we:
The tentative title for the series or rather idea was "Where The Magic Happens", named after the Ultimate Alien episode of the same name. Ledgerdomain was to be one of the main primary locations in the spinoff.
It was to take place a week after the events of UA's series finale and pick up Charmcaster's storyline from where it left off with the episode "Couples Retreat". Dwayne McDuffie liked both characters so much that he thought the two could hold their own show together.
Ashley Johnson and Kari Wahlgren were obviously gonna reprise their roles but Gwen would've had a different look from time to time. As in sometimes she would be in her AF look and other times she would be in her UA look.
The premise was essentially gonna be this:
Gwen and Charmcaster were gonna become unlikely and hesitant allies who team up to protect Ledgerdomain and fight crime with Gwen deciding to use her powers to help others full on and Charmcaster doing whatever it can to save her home.
Tumblr media
A main plot point would've been Gwen developing a type of PTSD due to several things she's been through throughout the previous three shows, especially this scene from the OG episode "The Return". Being crushed by a tower as a child is giving her reoccurring nightmares that begin affecting her life only for Charmcaster to help her through it seeing as she owes it to her after "Where The Magic Happens" and "Couples Retreat".
On top of that, it would've also explained why the events of the OG Ben 10 happened coincidentally during the summer road trip as a sort of crawling out of the woodwork.
Tumblr media
One thing that was to be featured in this series were easter eggs and references to the events of other media that heavily implied a shared universe. For example, in-passing they were to bring up the T-Rex from Isla Sornia Site-B rampaging through San Diego back in the late 90s. Sound familiar?
Another thing is it's still unclear as to whether or not Ben would've appeared in the show as either a cameo or a full on appearance in an episode. So that's still up in the air.
As far as I can tell, a three part pilot was written by McDuffie along with a series bible as he pictured the show running for five seasons but so far nothing has been released. Understandably.
An interesting thing here is there was gonna be a flashback episode that would've been set after the events of "Secret Of The Omnitrix" where Charmcaster kidnaps Gwen from her home for one final confrontation.
Another juicy tidbit would've been a reoccurring villain that ultimately becomes the main antagonist as the show progressed - in this case, it's a pastor who develops dangerously unstable telekinetic powers after surviving a plane crash. McDuffie wanted Clancy Brown to voice him.
Other actors that McDuffie wanted for the show were Michael Jai White, John Lithgow, John Kassir, Geno Segers, Mae Whitman, Colleen O'Shaughnessey, Morena Baccarin, Greg Abbey, Powers Boothe and Will Friedle. Cool.
One thing that was to play a major role was a large book that Charmcaster's written during her time in Ledgerdomain that chronicled the history of magic in the world as well as how the numerous alien races play a part in its creation.
Unfortunately here's the last piece of information that is available or I can find on this cancelled spinoff and it's a good one: Dwayne McDuffie wanted to have comic book-inspired title cards for the episode and he was eyeing Tim Jacobus as the artist to design them.
So yeah this would end up being replaced by the still very polarizing Ben 10: Omniverse and top it off, McDuffie passed away.
But it's still interesting nonetheless. Would any of you have loved to have seen this show.
Let me know what you think of all this.

I have come to a realization that Aggregor's biggest flaw is that he like, does nothing
Aggregor peaked early in the arc because doing nothing was excusable when you were just hyping up the villain
but fr think about it. what does aggregor really do other than sneak around and capture the andromedas. he has 1 kinda cool fight in Fused, and then he goes on the run. leaving his ship as a decoy was pretty cool too, but then he doesnt really do anything
after he sucessfully absorbs the andromeda aliens, you think "oh finally hes gonna do something cool now, this is the payoff" but its a kinda typical meh UAF fightscene
Then they go to the alien temple and Aggregor: does nothing, he just swoops in last minute to get the piece of the map
when rewatching this i thought to myself "hang on, why is he doing this. why did he purposefully wait for them to set the traps off for him and then take advantage, surely the entire reason he went on this whole alien kidnapping quest was so that he can do this himself??
Then theres Deep, again same thing. We see aggregor evade some plumbers and then never see him again until he comes in, again takes the map of infinity (apparently he snuck in, which like okay fair enough? was your plan just entirely reliant on the fact that they wouldnt ever check this tiny piece of the planet)
Then the ledgerdomain episode, we see aggregor go inside and then never ever again see him until he sucker punches adwaitya (while ben was fighting him) 1 (one) time and takes the alpha rune and fucks off
Perplexahedron is the only time aggregor directly faces off against our team in a serious legitamate fight since he absorbed the andromeda aliens and much like that first time, it was also really underwhelming. Also just a poor excuse for ben to drop the map for aggregor to swipe it off the ground
HE DROPS THE PIECE!! AGGREGOR DOESNT EVEN TEAR INTO THE RB3 AND TAKE THE MAP FROM THEM THEIR, BEN JUST D R O P S I T
Tomorrow im gonna rewatch the forge of creation, though id argue aggregor as a character is beyond saving tbh hes terribly lost all hype he ever built up. He just did not spend time in the oven yk, no amount of whipped cream can save that
Thats without getting into him as a character either, hes so painfully bland but thats a long text post for another day

Gwendolyn Verdona Tennyson
Age:20
She kept up with her magic powers long after classic and is now a Wiz at them (she can fly and stuff)she also kept in touch with Ben all thse years and they're more like siblings now actually.
When Vilgaxs forces attacked and grandpa max went missing Gwen willingly joined Ben to help fight the threat even though she had her doubts about him putting the omnitrix back on.
Her middle name came from her grandmother who she hasn't met.
She is not an alien
Anodites do exit but they are a species native to ledgerdomain essentially what charmcaster
So grandma Verdona is an anodite but not an alien.
She actually views herself as a witch
She's still about her books and everything but that's not all she's about.

Charmcaster, novice sorceress
Charmcaster never met her mother, and lost her father when she was very young. She was raised by her uncle Hex, and studied the mystic arts for as long as she can remember. A prodigy, she soon realized someday she would surpass her uncle, but for now, he had much to teach her.
Her final test to become a full-fledged sorceress was to steal the Staff of Ages, a powerful magic relic needed to summon the Charms of Bezel. She was successful, and now all she and her uncle needed were the charms, in order to access Ledgerdomain. Hex wanted Ledgerdomain to become more powerful, but Charmcaster had other intentions. She had a theory that maybe her father was stuck in Ledgerdomain, and she was the only one who could save him and bring him back.

Coffee
A/N: charmcaster x ken, basically how they met. Not proof read, sorry for any grammatical errors.
Tumblr media
-----------------------------------------------
" WHY...WON'T ....YOU...WORK ...YOU ...LITTLE" The silver haired witch screamed as she repeatedly kicked the coffee machine at the end of the long hallway.
All she wanted was a nice cup of joe before heading up to her room to start grading the papers her half- brained students had turned in. Unfortunately fate had other plans for her , plans that frustrated her to no end.
Not to mention Freidkin's strict rules on the use of magic on the coffee machine, not after the 'incident' last semester , she couldn't even use a spell to fix whatever on earth was wrong with the appliance.
"uh excuse me , um would you like some help?"
"Well unless you're some coffee machine fixing genius, no thank you!" she snapped , still fixated on the metallic object.
Why did this place have only one of these though? It makes no sense!
" No but I am a major in mechanical engineering, I guess I could have a look " the man voiced again, hoping he could be of some help.
Charmcaster turned to look at the voice this time, only to come face to face with the greenest eyes she'd ever seen. He stood there leaning against a pillar with his hands in is navy blue jeans, his black t shirt making his deep red hair look bright.
Her breath got caught in her throat , the butterflies swarmed in her stomach as she tried to get the words out.
" well then, fine I guess, take a whirl at it red" she said finally, rolling her eyes for an added 'whatever' effect, trying to play it cool. The boy didn't need to know he had affected her now did he.
He gave her a small smile as he walked past her to the machine, pulling it forward and inspecting the mechanics of it.
" I didnt know this place offered a course in engineering" she began , trying to make small talk to pass the time. And also to get to know him, for she was sure she hadn't seen him around before. If she had, she definitely would've remembered.
" Actually I don't go here, but my little sister does. Just here today to drop off some things for her."
" oh I see"
She couldn't feel any mana on him, he was a human through and through. There were quite a few non magic humans here studying history and other magic related degrees that didn't require the actual use of mana, perhaps his sister was one of them.
She went silent for a bit , trying to come up with something to say. It dawned on her that for the first time , she had nothing. She's had crushes before, dated a little bit too. However it seemed like for the first time someone had actually made her mind go blank.
"what about you , do you go here?" he asked shattering the peircing silence.
" Not really, I'm actually a professor here, since the last 6 months"
The redhead looked at her wide eyed, " you're a professor? No way. Wow you must be really smart to have become a college professor at such a young age"
She felt her cheeks redden. She was pretty skilled for someone her age , though this was the first time anyone had ever really told her that. It felt.... nice.
" So why'd you want to become a professor?" he continued on as he crouched down to better look at the wirings.
She leaned back on the stone pillar, recalling what led her to do this job.
" Well I was ruler of this place, it's called Ledgerdomain, it's..It's this place of magic. Anyway I was bored and on my occasional trips to earth I came across an opening for the position. So I thought I'd give it a try. "
And so far the job despite it's shortcomings , wasn't half bad. She would even go as far to say she enjoyed it, especially when it came to passive aggressively torturing her favorite little redhead. She smiled thinking back to when she handed over an A- on her end of semester last year, watching her face fall.
He got up from his position and turned to her, " So you're basically a queen too? Man you're so cool."
She tucked a lock of hair behind her ear as she smiled at him, " yeah I guess I am"
Now it was time for the butterflies in his stomach to take flight.
" so um ," He said sheepishly as he ran his fingers through his hair , " the machine's fuse isn't working right."
Technically the fuse was fine, the machine just needed a quick reboot. He knew that, she didn't need to.
" Oh I see. I was really looking forward to that coffee though, I have a long day ahead of me of grading papers. "
The boy's eyes lit up , a thought occurring through his head.
" hey you know there's a cafe off campus that sells amazing coffee. it's only a 15 minute drive from here if you're interested" He asked, secretly hoping she'd say yes.
The witch smiled. " I'd love that "
The boy gleamed, " after you m'lady"
She giggled as she began to walk with him. Was this sort of a date? They both hoped it was.
" it's Ken by the way " he said.
" I'm Hope"

I am reminding you about the Gwen spin off
Thank you, Anon. Sorry to keep you waiting but I knew this was gonna get too long to just type it on the phone. Seeing as the fandom clearly cares about Gwen or any character that’s not Ben (not that I have anything against him, I just got my favourites) more than the showrunners ever will, I decided to take it upon myself to do something with that Lucky Girl Spin-off we should’ve got a loooong time ago.
These are mostly my own ideas, so if anyone has anything they’d like to add, please go ahead. Buckle up, everyone, ‘cause this is going to be a ride.
OK, first of all, the show has to be set in the original continuity. I don’t mind if it’s after Omniverse (though many of us could do without the Osmosian retcon), but it has to include Anodite Gwen, Charmcaster’s redemption and working alongside Gwen, and Kevin living his best life exploiting his Tydanite car, maybe getting back to work at the garage, supporting his girlfriend, and being the proud owner of an Anubian Baskurr.
Good? Good.
The show has to be about Gwen, so this time Ben and Rook take a backseat like Gwen and Kevin did back in Omniverse and make occasional appearances, usually when the stakes are higher.
Now, let’s talk style.
A redesign is mandatory. Period. I don’t care if they choose to go with Omniverse’s style (in which case, refer to @vreedleedleedle) though it is unlikely after DJW’s passing; or if they try a different approach, in which case I advocate for a mix between Man of Action animesque and cute (in this case, refer to @walcraftart). But we need a redesign after the travesty that was Gwen’s design in Omniverse, meaning, she either has to go back to being a prep like in UAF, a jock like in the OS, or preferably a preppy jock. But she cannot keep being a nerd when that is not what she is. This is not negotiable.
With that out of the way, let’s get into the lore, shall we?
Since this should be Gwen’s show, I’d say it should finally focus mostly on magic. But since aliens have been an important part of Gwen’s life since she was ten, I wouldn’t be opposed to some opponents being aliens from magic-using species, though preferably because magic and anything occult is part of their culture, like Anur Transylians or Geochelone Aereos. Instead of, you know, introducing cheap knock-offs of Anodites.
Considering Charmcaster is now a member of the team, I believe the overarching plot should be focused on helping her defeat Addwaitya and free Ledgerdomain once and for all, seeing as he escaped back in Third Time’s a Charm, with the adventures leading up to that shaping Gwen, Charmcaster, and Kevin into what they’re supposed to be. Especially Gwen, who’s supposed to be named High Magus in Ben 10,000’s timeline.
You know, show how that came to be instead of leaving it as a throwaway comment.
So while the driving force would be Addwaitya and Ledgerdomain, there could be more lighthearted episodes introducing other villains (bonus points if the show developed in such a way that it was eventually revealed even the most harmless villain is a key piece in Adwaita’s revenge), or maybe even your usual Spell Gone Wrong shenanigans.
The show should definitely delve more into the magical lore. Anything that’s related to Gwen’s character, really.
Explain how Ledgerdomain came to be, how humans started populating it—are they settlers? Descendants of the original inhabitants? Did something happen in the past that breached the interdimensional distance between Ledgerdomain and Earth?—, show us Anodyne! I swear, it is unfair that the team never visited what is, essentially, Ben and Gwen’s ancestral home.
But now that we’re on the topic of Anodyne…What if we connected Anodites to Ledgerdomain? Wouldn’t it make sense that the mana-based species originated from the source of all the mana in the universe? Perhaps they lived in the magic dimension for aeons until, millenia ago, Addwaitya took control and forced them to flee and settle in Anodyne. Perhaps Verdona is old enough to remember that.
As for the characters, before I go in depth with the main trio, I’d like to establish that to parallel somehow the Alien Force/Ultimate Alien line-up Hex should take Grandpa Max’s place. With this I mean he should take the place of the knowledgeable if retired badass that offers wise advice and explains things to the team. But regardless of his role in Gwen’s life, his interpersonal relationships should focus primarily on rekindling his family bond with his niece. We’re not going to pull an UAF where oftentimes Max’s attention was solely on Ben, no. Family comes first.
Although…perhaps it would make for an interesting interpersonal-relationship heavy episode to have Hope frustrated at the attention Gwen’s receiving from her uncle and snap. Leading to a better understanding between the two girls and between uncle and niece…
But I’m getting off-track.
Aside from Hex being a source of guidance instead of an active team player and taking Max’s role, I think Bezel should take Asmuth’s. He should be the distant and eccentric mentor who doesn’t really offer much advice or help unless there’s a crisis going on. Because, come on, he works as the university’s fucking janitor! He cannot be any more accessible…
OK, with that out of the way, let’s go into the main trio:
Gwen:
This is probably going to be the longest, because she’s my favourite character and, let’s face it, the franchise has been doing her dirty for a long time now. So…get ready.
Alright, aside from the mandatory redesign, I think we need to talk about her Lucky Girl outfit. Because the show is about Gwen being Lucky Girl, you know?
I must admit I’ve eventually developed sort of a fondness for the Omniverse interpretation of how an Anodite looks, but don’t be confused. I don’t like the design; as I said before, that’s not an Anodite, but a human-sized, purple Smurfette. What I like is the idea my in-denial mind came up with instead; that is not Gwen’s Anodite form, but a hybrid between her human and Anodite forms that’s supposed to give her a boost without risking her humanity.
And I thought we could keep that. Explain it’s some sort of glamour Gwen uses to keep her identity a secret or an actual physical form she’s developed. I don’t know, maybe something unique to non-full-blooded Anodites?
But please, someone redesign it so it at least resembles her original Lucky Girl aesthetic.
The show should also definitely draw attention to how Gwen’s supposed to handle everything, like back in It’s Not Easy Being Gwen. I mean, she’s a 16-year-old in college, surrounded by older people she most likely has no interactions with outside of school; a very dedicated and perfectionist student, a part-time hero, a budding master magician if she isn’t one already; her parents seem rather strict… People much older than her would’ve crumbled under the pressure already.
I think we should be allowed to see the effect it all has on her.
I also think she should be allowed to have more focus on her hybrid nature, like Kevin did when being an Osmosian meant you belonged to a species of aliens instead of a lab experiment. And I think visiting Anodyne and reuniting with her more judgemental relatives (i.e. Sunny) could be a good start.
You might be wondering “But, Geeks, how is Sunny one of her more judgemental relatives? Verdona literally tried to destroy her body!”
And you would raise a valid point. But if you think about it, Verdona sees much of herself in Gwen, and after the girl explained what her current life means to her, what being human means to her, Verdona finally backed off. And even though the option of taking her to Anodyne will always be there, she doesn’t push her.
Sunny, on the other hand, judging from her throwaway comment of “She thinks she’s too good to be an Anodite; that’s what I heard,” seems to resent Gwen for choosing humanity over her Anodite side, among other things.
So I really would appreciate it if the trio went to Anodyne for whatever reason and Gwen and Sunny had an argument over the latter being condescending and a spoiled brat and the former being ashamed of her heritage. With that last comment prompting Gwen to snap and go on a tirade similar to the one she gave Charmcaster in Charmed, about how being an Anodite doesn’t define her, because she’s so much more than that. She’s also human, and saves the world, and studies, and goofs off, and is a black belt, and likes hanging out with her friends…
(Yes, I have watched Young Justice. Yes, this is inspired by M’gann’s own argument over her Martian form with her older sister. Don’t judge me).
And last but not least, a Rogue Anodite Gwen Arc is compulsory. Mandatory. Non-negotiable. C’mon, it’s her show and we’ve waited long enough for it already. It’d also be a good arc to bring Ben and Rook back, and have every character evaluate the impact Gwen’s had on their lives now that they might lose her forever.
So…pretty please?
Charmcaster:
So Charmcaster would at first be a bit of a reluctant ally. Despite the few moments she connected better with Gwen in UAF, there’s this residual envy. But in spite of her inner reservations, now that she’s away from Michael and Addwaitya’s influence, she’s forced to face the consequences of her actions, and acknowledge she's done very questionable things in her search for power.
Hence why she’s helping Gwen.
Considering I imagine the show’s main plot to be about freeing Ledgerdomain, an expansion on Hope’s backstory is needed. Perhaps even through a flashback episode. Alongside that, it’s important to remember that this is something very personal to her. Addwaitya separated her from her dad and then killed him!
So I believe it’d be an interesting angle to have Hope doubting between letting bitterness, rage, and resentment consume her and avenge her father, or finally bringing real justice to her homeland. A quandary that only gets worse the more time she spends with Gwen and her sense of morals rubs off on her.
Kevin:
Despite the show probably focusing more on Gwen and Charmcaster, Kevin should still have somewhat of a role; episodes where he has some impact.
Of course, I'm not talking about a new mutation 'cause that's been done to death and it doesn't fit quite the same if the show would most likely have a more magical than sci-fi background.
But perhaps Kevin-centric episodes could be about him questioning that role in Gwen's team. Sort of like in Trade-off, where without his powers he sort of felt like he'd been relegated to Ben and Gwen's chauffeur.
Because Kevin's role in Ben's team was being the guy with connections, the knowledgeable one with alien technology. If the alien tech is going to take a step back in favour of magical items, someone with Kevin's skillset isn't as needed, because he no longer has connections or said knowledge.
So perhaps the episodes focused on him could be about coming to that realisation, trying to solve the inadequacy he's feeling, and eventually branch out in his area of expertise and learn more about the magic market.
And last but not least, an episode where the three of them kick Morningstar’s ass is also mandatory. We love to see it.

(Me totally not forgetting I made these concepts and forgot to share them!) So! Here is some concept art I made for Dagon, the bottom one being the final look I settled on. Regarding the other concepts, I’m gonna be still using them, having them be what Dagon’s minions, the Esoterica, truly look like underneath their illusions.  First one is a basic solider, second one are the big brutes, third ones are the squishy magic users, and fourth ones are the high priest. Meanwhile Dagon is, of course, the big boss of this group, the fallen old king of Ledgerdomain. He has too phases, his basic form where seen here, where he is taller than a human, but nothing massive. And his second form being where he shapes his legs into a serpent fish like tail, grows to a massive size, and gets a few extra details. And yes, I changed Dagon to a fish, hahaha. Mostly because one, we’ve already got Vilgax to fill the evil squid roll, second, Dagon in actual lovecraft mythos was a fish creature. But I kept Dagon’s head crest thing from his canon self. Enjoy! 💜

Because the Andromeda 5 are mostly based on little Earth animals, I have the inclination to just ask ‘what do [x] eat’ ‘how long to [x] live’ and now for context ‘how do [x] reproduce’, that latter most one more relevant to how each of the more animal-inspired aliens think about parenthood and fun stuff with relationships. But this post isn’t about the xeno birds and bees, this is simply context-
Diego the Hood Island giant tortoise, a species saving manwhore of the Galápagos Islands, has become sex-haver george of geochelene aerio and is a fucking outlier that should not be counted.
God this bitch, this goddamn tortoise Genghis Khan, has completely changed how I intend to make some xenobiology headcanons for geochelene aerios and Galapagus himself- and at first it was in the obvious way until I looked into it and found out Diego is a serial shelled womaniser. Instead, I’ve come to think of this ‘father of all’ type character and almost just imagine him to be some famous figure of sorts on Aldabra, in the same fucking scale as Addwaitya even-
That’s right lads- this is a LORE post, featuring not only this fuckboi Deogar and his millions of children, but fucking Addwaitya as well and what the fuck is up with Galapagus’ ‘by Addwaitya’ and the very clearly now monstrous Mr Genocide we have in Ledgerdomain.
Before we get into the newly dubbed Deogar and what the hell his deal is, let’s ponder a bit on why Addwaitya is such a significant enough figure to be name dropped a whole season before he shows up by a much presumably younger member of his species. And to start I believe it is best to describe that Aldabra  - before Galapagus was ever even a shred of a thought -  was significantly different than the snippet of what we got in the show.
The old era of Aldrabra... kinda sucked as- modern Aldabra would refer to this as ‘The Age of Corruption’ or some similar stuff because naming shit is hard :( and was a time very much no bueno. Think on the ‘father’ of psychology himself Sigmund Freud, who’s work influenced countless psychologists to prove his theories wrong, and on H.P. Lovecraft and his - either quoting or paraphrasing from OSP’s own Red - “delicate constitution for math”, Aldabra as a collective was filled with pseudo-scientific mockeries of the already rather mocked psychology sorry not sorry chio (and myself) and an overwhelming fear of the unknown in a world of folk who don’t even know a lick of technology yet; it’s not quite anti-intellectualism, but it is essentially philosophy turned twisted and dialed to 11 where everything and everyone if affected by it and have no feasible way to stay out of it.
Well, unless you don’t even live close enough to the cities or people at all.
Hermits, nomads and any such variation of isolationists that avoid literally any and all GA contact. Addwaitya himself was a hermit, choosing to live in one of what I’m dubbing as the domain woods, a forest of flora that blur the line between plant and animal because of their proximity to Ledgerdomain, the veil between the realities thinnest here and also in ledger plains, where more grassland appropriate flora reside. It was not simply a ‘being born and raised’ scenario for Addwaitya and his status as a hermit, but as a self induced exile from the current societies of Aldabra to live ‘away from the bullshit’ and other similar resentments.
He turned to the woods with bitter intent and vitriolic feelings, but he did not instigate what happened next.
You see, with the overflowing amount of mana that is being pumped into Aldabra’s natural landscapes, it’s juxtaposition against the scared rigidity of the time’s geochelene aerio flared up a rage of it’s own, the concrete almost brutalist cities of those afraid of the change of the world with the corrupted philosophies of minds in excess set the Ledgerdomain fueled forests and fields into a craving hunger. It’s only problem? It had no hands of it’s own to deal with it.
Many of the other Original Elders (a title to those who hermits and nomads who avoided the beliefs of the time like the plague) had refused the offer of the other world to ‘get rid of’ the corruption, for it was in their chosen separation that they do not and would continue not to associate nor trouble themselves over the political climate of Aldabra. Addwaitya however, the one Elder to have left society with scorn, would be the perfect proxy to inflict Lederdomain’s wrath.
Gifting Addwaitya with a powerful rune, one that would give him the ability to bend mana to his very will at the behest of Ledgerdomain and it’s children on Aldabra, the nature of the planet had it’s tool to usurp the control and terror that The Age of Corruption held on it’s people. And what do you get when you give a vengeful man a key to destruction and the order to act- let’s just say that war never changes but rather history repeats.
A lot of what made Aldabra bad was not only instructed to ‘be removed’, it was also the waft of bad vibes that got sponged into the rune itself, the cleansing of the flow of mana and the inciting moment of the nature apocalypse, where plant-life not only takes over the concrete towers of labyrinthine cities, but takes anything and everything that didn’t have any shred of organic life left in them. And so far as history books to the new go, what was left of The Age of Corruption (as those fully engrossed in the society) were the youngest generation that had not lived long enough to adopt the modern worldview, many children left parentless where even the Original Elders could not manage to take care of them all.
And it was this generation that this lad Deogar comes from.
As the youngest to ever get thrusted and pulled into the throes of The Wrath of the Wilds, the children of corruption grew up as one of the last generations of the entire population of geochelene aerio. Not fully living life under the new apocalypse of woods and plains, many children were lost and afraid. And those children grew up in that continued fear of the unknown, but with no other option than to face the dangers of the new world on their own and with the very real threat of extinction hanging over their heads.
Deogar, now an adult, decided that the best way to cope with this very visceral fear is to devote his life to hedonism and doing what little things he can do to give him and others happiness and good times... of which including that of the allo variety.
It is not explicitly (hah) all that he did as a lot of what Deogar did was be the shining optimist or otherwise beacon of hope for a lot of the remaining peoples of Aldabra, especially as the Original Elders were passing their expiration dates. However, outside of just generally spreading the idea of ‘relax under the summer sun’ philosophy that no one would particularly want to start a fist fight over, a very loud and very evidential result of his ‘give everyone a good time’ philosophy was the sudden spike in population thanks to mostly his own effort. In fact, a lot of others had begun to follow in his footsteps of ‘being the manwhore one was always meant to be’ not because he had inspired others with his methods, but because Deogar was really really overcompensating and the others with the parts to do so had to make sure that at least some of the next generation weren’t all half siblings.
This bitch is quite literally a species saviour for Aldabra and the modern day geochelene aerio, so much so that his outlier of kids had still skews even slightly the average children per person statistic. Something that Galapagus himself cannot even hope to achieve with one adopted daughter, let alone at home where he only really had one friend emphasis on had.
Aaaand I think that’s about it? Certainly some stuff that has been haunting me for a while (both Galapagus saying Addwaitya and that damn Diego) and this is... hmm have I mentioned outside of Poiana Lüncas any of the other Andromeda 5 planets? I know for sure I haven’t spoken much about Kiusana lmao- eh, whatever...
Wait this post is technically about love and war, would’ja look at that! Lemme tag this appropriately.

Species: Elysalis Homeplanet: Ledgerdomain Life-Span: 3-5 (Without Host) 30-50 (With Host) Habitat: Anywhere in Ledgerdomain so long as their main food source is there. Diet: Coruscant Flowers/magic Breeding: Sexual Reproduction Sexual Dimorphism: Elysalis are quite hard to tell apart, but the small difference is that males have a spot on their wing, females do not. It is the only way to tell, as even their voices all sound high pitched. Children are almost impossible to tell, and those not part of the species have to wait until they turn into adults. When born, Elysalis have no wings nor any of the rainbow colouration, needing to feast on the coruscant flowers to eventually transform. The rainbow pattern on all their wings can come in different orders, not just the standard rainbow order. Behaviour/Bio: Elysalis are one of the few native species in Ledgerdomain still around to this day, the reason they made it so far different compared to the others. You see, across Ledgerdomain there grows a crystal flower called the coruscant flower, and it’s one of the few things that supplies the magic in Ledgerdomain. Most can barely touch the stuff, much less consume it, given how potent it is with magic. Elysalis are the only natural species that can eat it, having evolved along side this flower and becoming a natural gardener for it, pollinating it and making sure it doesn’t over grow. To keep order in Ledgerdomain, locals leave the Elysalis alone to keep things in check. Young Elysalis hatch in coruscant flower patches, and proceed to eat as much as it they can, before using the magic they absorbed to turn into a chrysalis, and finally into their full fledged adult form, gaining their wings and crystal limbs. If they were to never eat the coruscant flowers, they would never develop their wings or sturdy limbs. They also at first start off with one colour, based on the location they were born, but gain the rest of the colours over time by flying around Ledgerdomain, and feasting on other coruscant flowers they find.
However, this has caused a problem for their species for a long time, in that they build up too much magic over time, and given they are poor spellcasters, they have no natural way to release the energy, so it was quite common for most of the Elysalis to only live their adult lives for around 2-5 years, before blowing up in magical bursts and dying. An issue due to their eating of the coruscant, and their eventual ability to generate their own quite potent magic. But since Ledgerdomain relied on them keeping the coruscant flowers in check, and being the only way they can grow their wings in, they didn’t have any other choice. Until other locals of Ledgerdomain figured out an idea. While unable to release the magic into the air, Elysalis are able to attach themselves to people, and pass their magic over to other people. So people started offering deals that the Elysalis could hand the magic off to them whenever they needed to unload, and so its become a natural occurrence in Ledgerdomain to see one of these lil guys latch onto people, and hand off excess magic. Whether that be to guards to help them defend the kingdoms, or some farmers who need a little extra when harvesting their crops. Given their gardening role, and handing off free magic, Elysalis are often undisturbed by people, which has lead to them to be somewhat cheeky and a little pushy, knowing they can get away with a lot as long as they do their job. But they do take their role seriously, knowing Ledgerdomain relies on them to keep it in order, for this side of things anyway. Some have even developed connections with people that they deem as their friends, and the ones they go and give their magic to often, but most tend to just randomly give it away to whoever is nearby. Abilities: Symbiosis - When a Elysalis attaches themselves to someone, they physically become part of them briefly in a way. Latching themselves onto the person’s back, and essentially give a ‘magical girl’ transformation to the user, even giving them a butterfly themed dress and everything. When in this state, the Elysalis will link their mind with their host, and start handing magic over to them. For magical users, this will apmlfiy their already existing magic, and for non-magic users it temporarily gift them with magic. Flight - Gifted wings once an adult, they are able to fly, and while they’re not particularly fast, they can go for quite the distance without getting tired. Flight is also gifted to their hosts upon attachment. Magic Generating - Adults are able to start generating their own magic, especially over long journeys when looking for more coruscant flowers. Children are unable to, thus why they need to feed on the flowers. Mind Control - When attached to their host, they can mind control them if they wish, though it’s not an ability they use often. Its mostly used as a fail safe incase their host tries to do something they don’t like while latched onto them, such has trying to use their new magical energy to blow up people. Magic Draining - While they do gift magic to others, they can easily to the opposite, and take it from people, especially a host with ease. Magic Sensing - Given they feed on the stuff 24/7, they are excellent that sensing magic, and beings with magic, even those that try and hide it. Telekinesis - They have a natural telekinesis power that is decently strong, and their main defence if they don’t have a host with them. It also makes carrying things easier, and organizing things. Regeneration - They can naturally regenerate parts of their body, such as their wings, with their own magic over time, though this requires them to eat a little more magic here and there and rest up. Weaknesses: Without a host, Elysalis are rather poor at defending themselves, and while they have minor powers like telekinesis, they can only do so much. Also without a host, most don’t get to live that long, their magical aura eventually overwhelming their bodies. Their bodies are rather frail, and aren’t good at taking damaging, and would rather their host take the brunt force for them. Their mind control and magic draining can be fought against by strong enough individuals. Their lax nature due to being protected by others can sometimes mean they are caught off guard by sudden foes.

Question for any alien capable of answering:
I've been doing some research on various alien homeworlds, and the one that confuses me the most is Piscciss.
Its mass is 98% water, while the remaining %2 for land is only made up by the occasional floating asteroid that got caught in the waves thanks to its gravitational pull and the planet's solid core that contains the 2nd piece for the Map of Infinity.
You'd expect the homeworld of an amphibious species like the Piscciss Volanns and Piscciss Premanns to be at the very least tropical, with a ton more landmass and some legit continents (or, at the very least, partially swampy, so that the Volanns and Premanns can still breathe on land), but nope. It's just a big ol' water ball in space.
Literally no other naturally forming planet in the Milky Way or Andromeda galaxies is like this in any capacity, and there are plenty of weird planets out there. So, with all this in mind, anyone got any personal theories or possible explanations as to why Piscciss is like this?
The only conclusion I got is that Piscciss is an artificial planet somehow, made specifically to safeguard that Map piece in an otherwise unassuming location, since the other three are in important places like Ledgerdomain. From there, either the Volanns and Premanns either moved to Piscciss from a different planet until basically everyone forgot and just assumed Piscciss was always their home... Or the Volanns and Premanns are both artificial, too.
That's... Not a thought I cherish, or even one I want to explore further. (Sorry, Ripjaws.)

"What's wrong with being an artificial life form? Technically, me and my siblings are all artificial life forms. So are Mechamorphs. It doesn't mean you're less of a person!"
Tumblr media
"As for your theory, the formation of planets and the life forms on them is random more often than not. Perhaps there simply isn't a satifying answer to your question. Believe me, as an amateur historian, I know how frustrating it can be to find loose ends that are just..there, with no way to tie them to anything."
