Oh, my... I never thought I could hate Jane, but apparently the tv show decided to give her the most obnoxious voice actress I have ever heard. What the HELL is going on there??? If I ever want to rewatch episodes of this, I think I'll stick to the Danish dub I grew up with.
Fucking hell is that voice annoying.

The Legend of Tarzan: Jane Clayton [ESFP 2w3]
MBTI Type: ESFP Jane does not want to be stuck at home in boring England when she could go back to the Africa that she loves. And once there, she doesn’t hesitate to get involved, traipse around the country, or even try to escape through dangerous situations by stealing a knife, leaping into a river, escaping a hippo, running through the trees, and paying homage to the gorillas she finds there.…

My favorite moments in the Legend of Tarzan series were always the Tarzan and Jane scenes, watching how they interact as a married couple.
Jane teaches him about human things and Tarzan helps her navigate the jungle.
They were so wholesome. When people like Dumont flirted with Jane or one of Jane's friends showed interest in Tarzan, they only ever had eyes for each other.
There's a reason why I think Tarzan and Jane were probably my first ever OTP. They're just....so sweet together.
Honestly, the series was just amazing because we don't get to see enough of the main couples from the Disney movies as married couples? Most of the sequels either don't focus on them (though we do get some good moments between them in some of the cases), or are actually prequels or interquels; and a lot of the series are either also prequels like the Little Mermaid or technically Hercules series, or at the very least, take place before the main couple is actually married.
Legend of Tarzan is the only example I can think of where the main couple is not only married from the start, but their relationship is a major focus and the fact that they are married and in love is brought up a lot. Like, the DTV sequel, "Tarzan and Jane" literally has the framing device be that Jane is trying to think of something special for their first anniversary.

So the 2016 Legend of Tarzan. Sigh. Imperfect, yes. But I'm still drawn into rewatching it not because of any great superiority of plot or pacing or whatever - but because of the characterisation of Tarzan himself.
Yes, he's a ripped jungle beefcake. Yes, he's strong and spends most of the movie topless. YES Alexander skarsgard looks so fucking hungry and dehydrated that I want someone to fetch the tin foil blankets.
BUT
But he's also so gentle. So tender. He reserves his strength - his violence - for when it's needed, and then puts it away again. When he's not fighting, he moves with slow, careful momentum's, and when he IS fighting there's vulnerability in his eyes that he doesn't bother to hide. Why would he?
It's strongly suggested that his affinity for the jungle (and its beasts) stems from this empathy. Would he even have been able to pick up the skills he needed to survive if he weren't so great a listener? He looks .5 seconds away from bursting into tears at any given moment and it works entirely in his favour.
I've seen it said that the original tarzan cartoon is a good example of non-toxic masculinity. And I'd say that holds true for the 2016 movie too. It seems remarkable to me that, in a time where a lot of your action movie protags are alpha males stuffed to the eyeballs with male power fantasy, this Tarzan - and skarsgard himself - managed to craft a hero who is defined by his softness as much as his strength

Hi there! I see that you're a big fan of Disney's Tarzan. Do you have any recommendations for Terk related episodes of the old cartoon show?
Hello!
It's been a while since I watched the series, but there are a few more or less Terk centric episodes.
Probably the most Terk filled episode is "Tarzan and the Enemy Within" - Terk falls for an injured gorilla and tries to impress him by learning to be more lady like from Jane and Porter.
Another good one is "The Beast from Below" in which Terk is terrified by a velociraptor.
There's also "Tarzan and the Rift" - Tantor's girlfriend thinks Terk is loud and obnoxious and forces Tantor to choose between them. Poachers who are hunting in the jungle capture Terk.
Hope that helps!

Like all series spin off series Disney made, they're not perfect, but with Legend of Tarzan, the comedy is spot on.
Plus, so many memories, especially of the episode with the Leopard cub and the first episode with the three ladies. I remember watching it at my uncle and aunt's hotel room with my then baby cousin.

What if Tarzan was rescued by his own jungle boy?
Tumblr media
Whelp, here we are with yet another one of those weird what if’s that I felt like doing some strange reason
This time around; it a ‘what if’ regarding two adaptations of the iconic Tarzan character. What if the Disney version of Tarzan was captured and then put in a situation designed to be the end of him if he were to try and escape on his own? Like this situation from the 1960s tv show about Tarzan, starring actor Ron Ely; where Tarzan has had his hands bound him and has been placed upon of some rather loose barrels with noose tied around his neck. Which means that if Tarzan tries to escape this on his own, there’s a pretty good risk of him knocking over the barrels, which would result in him getting hanged right on the spot. In the end; he was only able to escape from this predicament because of the timely arrival and aide of his young ward, Jai (Manuel Padilla Jr.). So what if Disney’s Tarzan was in a similar situation and he required the timely rescue of, say, his one-time protege, Ian, from the episode “Tarzan and the Protege”, to make it out alive?

Legend of Tarzan: Leon Rom [INFJ 3w2]
MBTI Type: INFJ Leon has a personal vision he orients his entire focus toward; his entire motives never become clear in the story, but it involves taking control of Africa, using slavery, and the diamond trade, to establish a dominating universal power, presumably with him at its head. His intentions are so private, even his subordinates cannot predict what he will do. He plans things in…

Did you know Disney's Tarzan had its own TV series back in 2001 thru like 2003?
Legend of Tarzan, my beloved....
No, seriously, I loved that show so much growing up, it was probably my favorite of the spin-off series based on movies from the Disney canon, though I also loved the series for Aladdin, Hercules, and the New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.

As much as I adore Lilo & Stitch: The Series and Kim Possible, I don't think my brain returns to any Saturday Cartoon Adventures more than:
Aladdin: The Series - Remember the one where the cat goddess is kidnapping children and turning them into monsters? Or the one where there's a prophecy that Aladdin will die? Or the one where Genie is being hunted by the last of a race of magic-vampires? Or the one where Aladdin is being possessed by the vanquished sorcerer Mozenrath's (what a name) spirit through his magic glove? Or the one where Aladdin literally crosses over with Hercules?
Tumblr media
The Little Mermaid: The Series - I think about that episode where she gets sucked down into the trippy, surreal Wonderland trench and can't escape probably every week. Go to Disney Plus and find that episode, it's called "Charmed," it's worth it.
Tumblr media
The Legend of Tarzan - Like every episode is burned in my brain forever. The Opar episodes where he'd rather die than choose anybody but Jane, even after he thinks she's dead. The one with the Mad Elephant where Tantor thinks he's contracted the same illness. The one with DINOSAURS. The one where the new radio tower makes every animal go insane and try to kill Tarzan and Jane. The one where a different ape challenges Tarzan for leadership and WINS. The one where Jane's friends come to the jungle to rescue her. The one where Tarzan gets locked in like a prison camp with Teddy Roosevelt?! The one with a magical healing albino gorilla?! The one with Kerchak's old rival Tublat coming to try and take over the gorilla family in a series of traps? ! The one with the giant snake?! The one where Tarzan gets bit by a spider and almost DIES?! The one where Clayton's sister comes and forces Tarzan to choose between saving himself from poison or saving all of his loved ones from several death traps in time?! The one where the African tribes from the Tarzan books help Tarzan find a cure for a deadly disease in special two-part episodes?! The one with a WWII spy coming and trying to steal Jane's affections while simultaneously looking for war information he left in a music box he sent to her?! WHY IS THIS NOT ON DISNEY+?!
Tumblr media
Buzz Lightyear of Star Command - Skilled. Courageous. And ever-vigilant. Leaping into action, it's BUZZ LIGHTYEAR, of STAR! COMMAND! I'm tired of having to dig around the Internet to watch episodes like The Wirewolf where an old Space Ranger buddy gets turned into a machine-mauling cybernetic wolf monster by the light of a radioactive moon, or the one where an "energy vampire" named N0S4-A2 tries to eat Buzz's robot friend.
Tumblr media
Come on. We got The Little Mermaid: The Series. That Tarzan & Jane movie isn't enough! WHERE ARE THE REST OF THEM, DISNEY
