Author's note: Hi! I don't have anything to say about it except I found it in my drafts and it made me laugh. I hope it will bring pain to others. Enjoy! ⭐

Tonpa took a sip from a non-corrected juice can. Leorio shot him a look, then went back to his medicine books - something about the nervous system. They had met at his apartment, as the hotel thing was getting too expensive: they were meeting too frequently to pretend it was still a one-time thing. So Tonpa took another sip, keeping his eyes on the younger man. He wasn’t feeling lustful, not exactly, but he knew how to appreciate a good sight. They’d had sex in the morning and now Leorio was revising for an upcoming test. They’d probably have sex in the afternoon, so Leorio could relieve some stress before going to his night shift at the shabby pub two blocks down. Tonpa considered sticking around, but the warm water was busted and there wasn’t much food around, so he’d probably leave after their second round. Leorio was adamant about saving all the money he gave him - for his tuition, he said. Tonpa understood that, maybe even respected it - but it had been long since he’s gone to university. He dropped out after the first year when the hunter thing hadn’t worked out. Not that he cared, he couldn’t even remember what major he’d been in. Something about law, maybe, but the memories of his father when long gone. When he thought about it, it was kind of funny how his background vaguely reminded him of Leorio. But that was the only thing they had in common, really. And Tonpa didn’t care about making an emotional connection. They didn’t speak, but lately, they’d been hanging out. Being alone together or something like that. Tonpa found it funny, at first, the way Leorio would constantly check his phone. Then it became sad. Now, when he saw him stare at the “no new calls” screen he’d say something stupid, offer him a juice or something, and that would distract him sometimes. Still, considering he wore a blonde wig during their meetings, the situation was becoming increasingly pathetic.

Tonpa took another sip. Well… He prided himself to be a rookie crusher, but that Kurapika guy? He was doing a better job than he ever could. And, although sad, it was kind of amusing to witness. At the end of the day, the sex was good, and Leorio’s declining mental health could be funny. Yet, when he looked at his dark bags up close, right after they were done…

Tonpa put the can down and went to take a piss. Some thoughts were better left alone.

Ging was the only person to pass the 267th Hunter Exam. When the main four took the 287th Hunter Exam, it was Tonpa's 34th time taking the exam. It is also stated that Tonpa was 10 years old the first time he took the exam.

In other words, Ging and Tonpa most likely met at Ging's first and only/Tonpa's 14th attempt at the Hunter Exam. At the time, Tonpa was 27 and Ging was almost 12.

It's stated multiple times throughout the series that that it's incredibly rare for a rookie to pass the exam.

I have a crack theory about this, hear me out: what if Tonpa hadn't been entirely truthful about his motivations? What if child Ging mesed with Tonpa so severely that he declared that going forward, he would no longer attempt to pass the Hunter Exam, but instead crush all first-timers at the exam?

After clearing the exam’s Second Phase, (Name) and her friends fly through the starry sky, toward the site for the third phase.

“Allow me to introduce myself to the 42 remaining applicants. I am Netero, Chairman of this year’s Hunter Exam Selection Committee.”

The old man from before announces to the crowd of applicants. A little green man with a head shaped like a bean chimes in.

“I’m beans!”

“Originally, I’d planned to make my appearance during the exam’s final phase, but as I’m already here…”

He looks over the crowd, a grin appearing on his face.

“I’m loving this tension in the air! So I think I’ll stick around for the rest of the trip.”

Killua yawns, and (Name) feels eyes on her yet again. She looks around the room, goosebumps beginning to cover her skin.

“We are scheduled to arrive at our destination tomorrow morning at 8 AM. You’ll find dinner waiting in the dining hall. You are also welcome to get some rest. In other words, you’re free to do as you please until you are contacted.” Bean explained.

“Okay, Gon! Let’s explore the airship!” Killua exclaimed, nearly jumping up and down im excitement. Gon nodded.

“Okay, y’all have fun but please wash up before you come to dinner. No offense, but we’re all sweaty and gross.” (Name) called after them, sighing.

“How can they have so much energy? I’m hitting the sack…”

(Name) shrugged.

“Dunno, but I’m headed to the bathroom to clean myself up. Anyone coming with?”

“I may. However, I do have one concern.”

Kurapika folded his arms as the three walked out of the room.

“Hmm?”

“How many more phases are there?”

Leorio paused at that, straightening up.

“Ah, they’ve never mention that, have they?”

(Name) frowned when Tonpa walked up. He gave her the willies, and she certainly wasn’t in the mood to talk with him.

“On average, there are 5-6 phases.”

The three turned to face him, each equally unimpressed.

“Which means we still have three or four to go…”

“All the more reason to rest now.”

(Name) blinked and looked at the two.

“I agree we should rest, but let’s clean up then put something on our stomachs first. Going to bed hungry when breakfast isn’t guaranteed sounds like a bad idea.”

“Ah, that’s correct. You go ahead and go wash up, (Name), we’ll be there in a moment.”

(Name) gave the two a nod and was about to leave when Tonpa continued.

“But you should be careful.”

The three stopped and turned again, this time intrigued.

“Huh?”

“The secretary only told us when we’ll arrive at our destination. It’s possible the next phase could take place on this airship itself. And it doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll be contacted at 8 AM.”

“Huh? Are you serious?”

Leorio scratched the back of his head in thought, while (Name) rolled her eyes.

“See y’all later.”

(Name) arrived at the bathroom, just in time to encounter another woman about to walk in as well.

She stopped, looking over her for a second. “Hello, I’m (Name).”

The other woman opened the door to the bathroom and walked in, not giving her name back in exchange. (Name) frowned and walked in as well.

The bathroom was very nice, nicer than any public restroom she’d ever seen before. The stalls and sinks were impeccably clean, with pretty floral wallpaper decorating the walls.

There were even small showers, containing small bottles of body wash, shampoo, and conditioner.

“It’s not the smartest move to give others your name, you know. Others might use it to manipulate or hurt you in the future.”

The woman from before stood in front of the shower, slowly undressing. She had short green hair, and observant eyes. (Name) politely looked away, walking over to the sink to set her backpack down and take out her extra set of clothes.

“I didn’t even think of that, thank you for telling me.”

The woman stopped for a moment, holding her shirt to her chest. She turned to look at (Name).

“Don’t thank me, if we were put against each other I’d kill you without a second thought.”

The woman turned back, tucking her shirt into her bag.

“That’s to be expected with an event like this. Thank you anyways.”

(Name) stuck out her tongue, and undressed herself.

“Ahh~ I feel so much better!”

The (h/c) haired girl sighed in content as she brushed/combed/did her hair. She (wrapped it in a towel/put it in a bonnet/put it in a ponytail/etc) then packed her dirty clothes back into her bag. She looked over at the complimentary mints and poured them all into her bag and stuffed it full of paper towels.

“Who knows, maybe I can use this for fuel or just to clean a mess…”

(Name) shrugged and left the bathroom.

“Kurapika, Leorio!”

She called, her eyes searching through room after room. “How big is this place…”

When she finally found the two, they were passed out in the men’s shared room. She rolled her eyes as she pulled a cover over the two, leaving some mints in their laps.

“Of course. They haven’t even washed up. I only took 20 minutes and they’re already asleep. I mean after our day, I don’t really blame them but…”

She stuck her tongue out again into the room. A few of the male contestants look at her in confusion, some with eyes that wandered up and down her frame.

‘I should probably leave. I don’t wanna spot-‘

“Why hello there, pet.”

Hisoka leaned against the frame of the door, barring her exit. The way she turned around to face him was almost comical, like a mouse facing off against a tiger.

“… hello…”

She regarded him warily, her tired (e/c) eyes watching his every move.

“You’ve cleaned up. I have to say without all the dirt and sweat you are quite…”

He licked his lips.

“Devine.”

His cold, mischievous eyes never left hers. In his hands was a deck of playing cards, which he expertly shuffled.

“Why are you… why are you picking me specifically to mess with? I know you aren’t trying to ask me out on a date or anything. What do you want?”

(Name)’s tone surprised even herself, but Hisoka’s horrible grin only widened further. She feared she may have angered the man, but he moved out of her way silently.

She took this as her chance to leave, walking as fast as she could, but before she could get away, Hisoka grabbed her wrist in a grip so tight she could feel the bruise already forming.

“Someone on this ship is very interested in you. The only reason I hadn’t made sure you were out of the game during the first phase was because of that. Keep that in mind, girl.”

He squeezed her wrist for emphasis, then let her go. (Name) pulled her arm away and held her wrist gingerly, wincing in pain.

“Oh, and let’s keep this meeting a secret, alright? Wouldn’t wanna worry your friends, hmm?”

With that last sentence he disappeared into the men’s room, sitting down and beginning to build something with his deck of cards.

(Name) was long gone by the time he had sat down, almost sprinting towards the dining room where she knew more people would be.

Once she had reached her destination she slid to the floor, trying her best to control her racing heart. The few stragglers left in the dining hall paid her no mind, eating their food in silence.

There was one person that had watched her intently, wondering why she had ran in like she did.

The disguised Illumi’s gaze drifted from his meal to (Name), wandering from her shocked face, to her obviously bruising wrist, and finally back to his food.

The fork in his hand snapped violently, clattering to the ground. He needed to control himself, and quickly. Using a disguise took a lot of willpower, and it could easily falter if he didn’t concentrate. Seeing her like that, though… was enough to make him leave and rush to the bathroom.

(Name) barely noticed someone brush against her as they exited the room. The pain was intense, and the only thing on her mind was getting up and getting her food so she could rest a cold drink against her wrist.

“I’ll need to show Leorio this later…”

She trudged up to the counter, where a lunch lady stood. She ordered her food and sat down, holding her cold drink to her wrist.

“Yikes, what happened (Name)?”

(Name) jumped in her seat when she heard someone speak from behind her. Killua looked at her wrist, light concern on his face. Gon sat next to her, a good tray in hand.

She looked down at her food and poked at it with her work.

“Just… an accident.”

Gon and Killua exchanged a look. The two hadn’t seen the exchange that happened earlier, but they could tell something more was going on. You didn’t just get a hand shaped bruise on your wrist by accident.

“(Name)… are you sure it was-“

Killua put a hand on Gon’s shoulder and shook his head, silencing the other boy.

“Never mind, we’re gonna go explore, see you later!”

The two raced off, leaving (Name) to finish her food alone.

In the bathroom, Illumi splashed water on his face, trying to calm himself enough to leave.

‘Who did that to her? Who would have the motive to…’

He watched himself in the mirror, putting a hand on his cheek. The assassin didn’t know what to do with himself. Getting worked up over one girl wasn’t exactly normal for him.

‘I’ll just have to… watch over her more carefully. After all, she’s a missing piece to a puzzle I have yet to finish. It would be a shame if she were to…’

He tried his best to reason with his mind that he only wanted her safe to ease his curiosity, but his heart began racing again when he remembered the hand shaped bruise forming on her wrist.

“Whoever did that…”

He slammed his fists onto the tiled sink, shattering it completely.

“Will pay.”

He looked down at his own hands, now bloody, and clenched his fist.

“No one touches what’s mine.”

As the two boys trudged down the hall, Gon couldn’t keep quiet. His mind was racing with what could have happened with (Name), and Killua was even more… interested.

“We can’t just straight up ask her. She’s hiding it from us for a reason.” Killua kept his hands in his pockets, to hide how much they were shaking.

“She was trembling. What could have scared her that much?”

Gon sat down at a small window looking out into the night sky. Killua took his place next to him, watching the clouds eat the stars.

“No use thinking about it right now. Let’s try and relax before the next phase tomorrow.”

Although killua was the one that proposed this, he was barely able to think of anything else. He had never seen her look like that before, in his mind she was always smiling and offering comfort. To see his mother figure look so miserable was enough to drive him to murder.

The two chat to get their minds off of things, when Netero spots them.

(Name) finished her meal. Her wrist was slowly turning a dark purple, and she knew that it was going to hurt in the morning.

She left her spot at the dining table and retired to the girls room. It wasn’t anything special, just a small space with a few blankets and pillows available. The woman from before was already there asleep.

(Name) picked up her own pillow and blanket and laid down. When sleep finally took her, she was too exhausted to even dream.

Illumi sits in the men’s room, trembling with anger. He finds himself clenching his fists so hard that his nails dig into his palms.

‘Control yourself, Illumi. You have to finish the Hunter exam to do your job. You can’t let yourself get worked up over one girl.’

He takes in a deep breath and relaxes as much as possible. It takes an hour for him to fall asleep, and he dreams of his childhood.

Whohooo, my timer rang, it’s the 7th!🥳🤣 (At least in my country, so I hope, sending my request now is okay?👀)

First off: I wish you so so much fun with your first event. Like I already said, the idea is amazing and I’m looking forward to every single post.🥰 So, here is my soul striptease:

I’m a cisgender woman and therefore I use the pronouns she/her. I‘m bisexual but on a spectrum I tend a little bit more towards men, at least at the moment.

My favourite fandom is Hunter X Hunter and I would be more than happy about something romantic.

For characters I don‘t want to be paired with, I would say Leorio (I could only teach him some medical stuff but that’s how romantic as it would get) and the more than obvious Tonpa?!😂 And no minors oc because I‘m old.

My personality… I can find humour in everything and like to laugh a lot but at times I can be somewhat melancholic and dark-minded… which I kind of like. I‘m very adventurous and open minded and never actually judge people… each to their own, I like to say. When it comes to friendship I‘m loyal as fuck (honestly I would cover up murder for my friends) buuuut in relationships I tend to get easily bored. My s/o should have high intellect (I hate smalltalk) and somehow needs to excite me… even some drama can be quite entertaining for me from time to time. When it comes to love I’m multilingual: Physical touch, quality time and gifts are my love languages but it’s very rare that I’m verbal about my feelings. Other than that, I‘m hopelessly romantic and - when good entertained - I’m passionate and head over heels. I enjoy art in every shape or form… doesn’t matter if it’s music, visual arts or literature. Generally I just like to look at pretty things (or people) and admire their beauty (sounds kind of creepy, but I’m not a creep, just an aesthete, promise!😐) My hobby’s are singing, writing and painting, even on people’s faces, cause I‘m pretty good when it comes to make up and hair (idk why), which I enjoy doing for others. How I present myself… I have pretty long wavy black hair, light green eyes and I always always always wear black. I’m more short than tall and quite petite. My style is simple but chic, I would say. Sometimes I enjoy wearing heavy make up and statement jewellery - but that depends on my mood. Oh, and I’m the biggest Parfumjunky I know of, so I’m always smelling of at least something. When it comes to how I behave in front of others, I‘m talkative and quite extroverted. When going out or just spending time with others, I’m always the last to call it a night, cause I enjoy deep conversations so much (also, you can sleep when your dead so why taking the risk of missing something exciting?). But there are times where I need to be by myself and I need space. By others I sometimes tend to get received as cold or even arrogant at first sight (resting bitch face going strong) but when they get to know me they’re surprised how chill I actually am (or that’s what they have told me at least 😂). My quirks are definitely that I can be very impulsive (even when it comes to big decisions) and that I’m so so SO impatient. VERY IMPATIENT.🥸 When it comes to music, there’s less that I don’t like: I love metal and rock, dark classical music, sometimes even minimal and house but never ever would I listen to girlpop! this man does it in the cheesiest way possible tbh. he would make candy hearts that say will you be my valentine and lay them out on the table with chocolates, a bouquet of roses and 2 teddy bears to look like the two of you! you would come downstairs to a total surprise and hisoka would surprise sneak attack you with a hug and ask you verbally if you want to be his valentine. of course you say yes, so the man attacks you with kisses

You and Hisoka had spend time with friends all week long and now Valentine's day was your day to spend together. You didn't want to have to go out and about and around other people, you just wanted to spend time together and be in each other's presence. "Are you almost ready, dear?" Hisoka asked, clipping on his earrings. The two of you decided to grab some drinks and then go on a late night walk together. You thought the idea was amazing and very peaceful after a long week. "Yes, I'm ready!" You came out in a black dress that suit you perfectly and Hisoka couldn't help but smile. "Oh, love," he walked over to you and grabbed both of your hands. "You look amazing." "Thank you," you said, pressing a kiss onto Hisoka's cheek, leaving a little lipstick mark. "You look amazing too." "Oh, hush." He gave you a playful smack on the arm and you two walked out the door. --- After you two grabbed a quick drink, you decided to walk around a very empty trail. You two talked for hours, just enjoying each other's company and the fresh air you had been craving all week long. You walked until you couldn't feel your legs and all you were doing was laughing and holding Hisoka's hand. "I have an idea," Hisoka said slyly when he spotted a lone lake. "Do you wanna try something?" You gave Hisoka a skeptical look, but took his hand that he outstretched to you. "Sure, why not?" Hisoka ran over to the lake and stripped down, making you blush. "Hisoka, what are you-" You were immediately covered in water as he cannonballed into the lake. He brushed his wet hair out of his eyes and laughed. "Come on, y/n!" You laughed and followed suit, jumping in the water with him. The two of you splashed around for a while and then, when you got too cold, crawled out, wrapping up in your dry clothes. You laid on the cold dirt together with your hands interlocked and looked at the stars. "I love you, Hisoka." "I love you too. Happy Valentine's day." <3

i’m not all the way through yet so i’m just basing this on being partway through the ants arc! also i’m on my phone so formatting is probably fucked

the first character i ever fell in love with: gon i think? extremely earnest protagonist isn’t usually my type but character who is oblivious and doesn’t get fucked over by it bc of how powerful they are is my favorite and he did that a lot in the beginning. also foiling bad guys by being too nice.

a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: the closest i can think of is hisoka? i still love him but he’s. i would really prefer if he didn’t get horny about children but sometimes anime is just like that

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: i can’t think of anything? i am only ever adding more ships to my collection

my ultimate favorite character™: killua of course because i’m predictable. he’s sad!! and he’s learning that the world can have joy and love!!!

• prettiest character: there are so many banger character designs in this show is the thing. the first to mind was kurapika but there’s also chrollo and kastro. and of course hisoka.

• my most hated character: killua’s brother who is a fatphobic joke about being mean and eating food. my love to hate is definitely illumi.

my OTP: just the obvious gon and killua, and leorio and kurapika. i refuse to choose one over the other.

favorite episode: this is hard because i’ve been bingeing it so it all just runs together but the little mini arc at zoldyck mansion was incredible. i love canary and seeing killua’s family and how fucked up it all is

saddest death: i know he’s not 100% dead but kite was devastating

favorite season: greed island ig? i didn’t like it at first but ended up loving it. especially dodgeball.

least favorite season: heaven’s arena arc. i still liked it but it felt a little slow and the stakes weren’t super interesting to me.
