also the "try before you deny" in s4, Mike didn't want to try the pizza and called it blasphemous because he grew up in a conservative and homophobic town (but when he tried it he actually said it was good, when the camera panned back to Will) while El grew up in a lab so she doesn't have any internalized homophobia or bias and she tried it without complaining and said it was good

There’s always talk about there’s not really any solid evidence that Mike is attracted to women (and I’m sure my lovely mutual @aemiron-main could probably pop in here and explain in detail why there’s absolutely none lol love you bestie) but we rarely talk about how there’s literally no evidence that EL is attracted to men. Like the closer you look to more you realize how there hasn’t been a single instance where el was genuinely romantically interested in a guy?? i just came here to point out that El never showed any visible attraction to Mike

people are always overanalysing Mike and whether he was ever attracted to El or not to prove whether he's gay or bi but i don't remember ever seeing something like this with El

i don't remember ever seeing in the show where you could tell that she was attracted to Mike

because she never was

she spent so much time between seasons 1 and 2 watching tv and romance in tv so she was "brainwashed" into thinking that's how her and mike's relationship is supposed to look like

she was never attracted to him she was never in love with him she's just a traumatised girl in need of love so she got herself into a romantic relationship before she could even figure out the difference between different types of love and relationships

Hopper chokes on his drink.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry I just taught her what gay means and she doesn't know about-" Will clambers to apologize but Argyle speaks over him, "I don't really vibe with labels, but I guess so, little dude." He ruffles El's hair and she giggles.

Will's mouth drops open and he stares at him. Jonathan is watching the exchange with slightly raised eyebrows.

"Well," Hopper clears his throat. He doesn't follow that up with anything. He just looks a little stunned.

"You guys are cool, right?" Jonathan finally speaks up, sounding a little more nervous than Will expected.

Joyce smiles warmly at him. "Yes, of course. It was just unexpected." She chuckles.

Jonathan looks relieved. "In that case," he shrugs, "I'm gay too. Full gay."

Will drops his fork. Jonathan looks at him and grins. "Me too." Will blurts in a moment of impulse. No one looks all that surprised. Rude.

"Me three." El adds, eyes bright.

"Me four!" Mike says from under the table where he was catching scraps in his mouth like a dog.
