So guess who just had a mini freak out because they learned that Eternal Diva WAS actually released on dvd in their country, despite thinking the whole film was unavailable (well...officially lmao) for like, a decade??? Idk where I got that idea from, I legit thought physical copies were some super rare, limited release thing that never left Japan (despite having an English dub??? Again, no idea why I thought that, it just was never available online when I searched for it over the years I guess). But anyways, long story short guess who found a second hand copy in perfect condition from a reputable retailer for under 3 bucks + free shipping :D
Hiya there!
(Lutias, is this you? I know Lutias was looking at Eternal Diva stuff last night but that is hardly enough evidence to make guesses about your identity.)
Nevertheless, "released on dvd in their country". European friend, I'm assuming! I'm very happy for you! Yes, Eternal Diva was released as dvd and bluray and collections sets and whatnot in several european countries. Not that it was easy to come across, mind you! If you didn't have access to internet shopping, you had to be right place right time. (I own an English dub dvd instead of Spanish dub because I only ever found the movie at a random shop in the UK on a trip!)
I'm so very glad you got it! And so very cheap, too! Congrats, and enjoy!
Also, thanks for the ask! Feel free to send more to brag of your dvd when you get it or to reveal your secret identity to the world :D

П told me she has a second job?? and i’m trying desperately to figure out what it could be? she still has her teaching orchestral director job during every weekday but she was just like “i will try to come to your orchestra concert with J but i have a second job now so I may not be able to”
i didn’t wanna be weird and pushy and nosy but what the fuck job is she doing. i can’t see her doing something she actually kinda hates. i literally cannot see her doing any restaurant job. i don’t think she’d be in retail?? she could work at a library or museum or something in that realm of things, that makes sense for her. but she wouldn’t be available at all between around 6:30 and 10. the only job i can think of is waitress or something at a restaurant because i would have later hours sometimes but i literally can’t even imagine her doing that what is she doinggg. what is her job??? am i just dumb? there’s no obvious option??? i can’t with this?
and i realize everyone’s first thought would be “oh she’s a violinist right? she’s doing gigs or in a orch now??” the only problem with that is she doesn’t really play the violin anymore. something’s up that i don’t even know all the details to and she just has some psychological stuff with playing the violin now idk what’s up that’s her issue idk. so that is why i don’t think she’s doing something with a quartet or orchestra or anything. like J is in a chamber orchestra for my area and is in a fairly well known (in my region) quartet. but that isn’t something П would do unless she’s changed suddenly.
m not really sure but yeah. this is just me being nosy and weird but that’s what i do 🕺🏽🕺🏽

ugh so we can see our assignments in the employee portal but it has a placeholder number for the number of items to scan until we get the actual list on Wednesday, right? So I see that I have the usual assignment, another one that looks to be a similar assignment but for all I know could be another one of those massive ones, and an assignment of a type I haven’t done before with no real number attached bc you scan Literally Everything
So I check my email today and thankfully the first two are pretty average sized, but this last one is “scan literally everything in the sections you’re assigned unless this list tells you not to.” and also I was told I have to schedule a time to meet up at the store so someone can show me the ropes for that one. which is GREAT bc I’d much rather do that than stumble around a bit like some of the other job types I haven’t been 100% sure of but also. I gotta try to schedule a time to meet up with someone while still working around my brother’s schedule
also there’s a couple (albeit small) certification tests I gotta do that I think are just “do you know the lingo and what to enter for x scenario yet?” but still. I was TRYING to relax here.
they’re also not due for a week and it’ll probably be a good idea to wait until after I get the training for this job type to take them bc that’ll help reinforce what I should already know and/or teach me some things I didn’t know or wasn’t sure of that these tests might ask about. but also they’re gonna haunt me until I do ‘em
side note the deadlines thus far have always been 11:59pm on Saturday (I’ve said I’m not available on Saturdays and while I could technically work Saturday nights, who’d WANT to? What it really ends up meaning is I gotta get all my Saturday shit done on Friday) or 11:59pm Sunday, so Monday and Tuesday are basically my weekend.  and given this week I mean I guess it’s better that fucking Everything goes wrong on the days I’m not busy but it also means I didn’t really get a break.  Which is again part of why I’m taking today off
I’m kinda complaining a lot but I do actually like this job significantly more than the bakery, it’s mostly just getting used to going from baby training amounts of work to suddenly 3-4 jobs a week
also how tf am I supposed to discreetly check out cigarette prices at Walmart. they’re always in one checkout lane behind the cashier and I mean it’s probably not always open so I could go when no one’s working it but. There’s no guarantee that’ll happen while I’m working and it’d still look pretty sus.         then again I once spent like 10 minutes just staring at one of the little gum displays by one of the many, many closed checkout lanes so.    At least no one bothered me while I was trying to look like a bewildered boyfriend when I had to go get tampon/pad prices.
that said I’m definitely giving off Retail Worker Vibes™ because like 4-5 people have come up to me for help and I mean obviously I help them if I can but like. Do I Look Like I’m Wearing A Blue Employee Vest. (no)
also also I finally got wireless earbuds so try and drown out the incessant Walmart radio blaring Christmas songs, but I really need to download more of my playlists bc my Chanukah one is already starting to get kinda stale and it ain’t a short playlist              at least by my standards, idk how long most people’s playlists are but this one’s got 90 songs and maybe I’ll add a few more as people start making more for this year

Minecraft Bedrock Has Finally Arrived For MacOS! Kinda!
Minecraft Bedrock has Finally arrived for macOS! Kinda!
Minecraft Bedrock is now available for choose Macs! Unfortunately, for the vast majority of Mac users right here, except you just bought a new MacBook Air, Professional, or Mini with the new Apple M1 ARM processor, you won’t be capable of play. This only applies to these three Macs. Hopefully Mojang/Microsoft adopts Mac catalyst (which ports iOS apps to Intel CPUs, which is what all older Macs use).
I don’t know if Minecraft is available on the Mac App Store for the brand new M1 Macs, if not, use this hyperlink to load it onto your model new laptop
I discover it ironic how Apple can be the company that does the work to port Minecraft, not Microsoft.
Essentially, which means Minecraft for iPhone, iPad, iPod Contact, and macOS only prices $7 or $6! What a deal!
This is bedrock edition, not java tho, and there are some variations.
wait, does this mean if you own bedrock from the app retailer, you can play it on mac?
Minecraft isnt displaying up in my apps library idk whats occurring
Learn by my comments
Has anybody truly run iPad MCPE on an M1 Mac?
Sure, I Used Imazing to get the iPad of Minecraft bedrock off my cellphone and installed onto the m1. nonetheless keyboard enter dose not work to move, and I'm having bother getting a superb controller to make use of, wondering if you can join a controller at all :/
As far as I know: no.
However it is now potential! And definitely not due to Mojang/Microsoft!
Edit
I've now, but Apple - underneath Microsoft’s request - now prevents Minecraft from being side loaded because Microsoft hasn’t officially supported M1 yet
can you get it on the latest mac desktop?
Since then, Apple has successfully blocked aspect loading any iPhone or iPad app to any Apple Silicon mac. Minecraft Games ’s apparently nonetheless attainable, but requires a jailbroken iPhone to decrypt the iPhone app file (.ipa) and then load it to the Mac.
However yes, in concept, the Mac Mini, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro (13inch lower class) and iMac 24” can run Minecraft Bedrock natively. It’s now up to Mojang to flip that swap.
Apple will more than likely be saying even more devices Monday that ought to be capable to run Minecraft bedrock natively, had Apple by no means blocked the power
Any updates? Can anybody confirm this actually works? Planning to get the bottom M1 soon however I use Bedrock. Not all in favour of Java.
As of now, the method has been blocked serverside by Apple.
It’s nonetheless doable to sideload, but requires jailbreak if an iPhone and then getting the IPA and hacking it with the iPhone after which aspect loading on macOS with M1. So it’s still potential, but extremely impractical
Download the MC .ipa from AppCake and then download https://sideloadly.io/
It is straightforward and works fantastic but you can not use xbox dwell
I paired a BlackMagic EGPU to my M1 2020 and was capable of have the option to install Bootcamp on my m1 with the Download of "Intel Unite ® from the Official Intel site.
It will not be operating on your MacBook M1 however relatively the EGPU. BlackMagic was made for including an Intel or to spice up your Intel to older Models and even Fashions with out Intel.
Like the new M1s we wasted our money on.
So as of proper now, these computers can nonetheless run bedrock right?
Yes. In concept, Minecraft Bedrock can run natively on these machines.
In observe, no.
Apple has effectively blocked aspect loading Minecraft. You’ll must have a jailbroken iDevice to decrypt the Minecraft IPA file after which signal it with your own Apple ID to put in it onto the machines. All Mojang must do is add correct Keyboard and Mouse help and toggle the switch to indicate on the Mac App Retailer. Mojang would then solely must do a little extra work to bring it to legacy Intel Macs as nicely
my 2013 macbook professional runs java just high-quality. I dont see why it could wrestle with bedrock.

Some tea from LSA:
Ok so let me preface this by saying I have a friend who works for a huge printing company in LA. This past weekend my family had dinner with him and his wife and during dinner chat we asked how his business was going, you know just light conversation and he told us his company did a huge order for Meghan Markle during the beginning of summer (let me also say that no one besides my husband knows my absolute disdain for MM lol but they do know I love the royal family and love to hear anything about any of the royals). Do you remember the t shirts that Gabrielle union and Tracey Ellis Ross wore for MM’s birthday initiative or whatever? It had a slogan like (and I am paraphrasing) something like for women, we give everything, how about you and it spelled out “FORTY”, do you know what I’m talking about? Well his company was the one who did the printing of those shirts. Apparently she had thousands of shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, baseball caps, totes, mugs, yeti cups, tumbler glasses, backpacks, gym bags, tank tops, etc printed up. And she sent all this merchandise to celebs and influencers. My friend said he knows Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Garner, Nicole Kidman, Beyoncé, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and a ton of journalists like savannah Guthrie and Honda Kotb, and more. He just told me who he could remember off the top of his head lol. MM thought all these celebs and influencers would wear her shirts on IG and there would be an insane demand for her merch. Whoever works for MM and placed the order (my friend’s company didn’t deal with MM nor were they part of the design team, they just printed them) asked my friend’s company if they could produce a large volume of merch. Once it became available, she thought all of Hollywood and mommy bloggers and sugars were going to want to walk around with her dumb slogan plastered on their clothes and tote bags and coffee mugs. Lol they really thought her dumb word salad t shirt was going to be in demand. They even said this was a huge, global initiative ‍♀️ I guess maybe she was going to sell it through Archewell, or a retailer, or knowing her, she probably wanted Stella McCartney to sell it for her—but who knows, I don’t even know the rules for selling things through Archewell. But the problem is, none of these celebs posted her birthday merch, so her idea was dead on arrival lol. And think about it, if you are a young pop star, especially like Taylor Swift who is a whole decade away from 40, why would she want to walk around with a t shirt with 40 on it? Anyway, MM is stuck with thousands of merch with her dumb slogan. What is she going to do with it? Idk, but she might find a retailer or website to sell it. But I love the idea of half of Casa Montecito filled to the brim of merch reminding MM of just how UNIMPORTANT she is in the world. Lol I know it’s not major tea. But I thought you might enjoy the chuckle.

This is totally random but I pre-ordered stuff from Weverse last year in September and I have yet to receive it yet? Has this happened to you? Like I saved up and nothing has updated. It makes me not want to order anything from Weverse
has absolutely nothing to do with weverse. idk if you’ve heard, but the pandemic has caused major global supply chain issues where
the factory workforce in china/other countries that make products have become unpredictable. because covid.
all product comes in by boat (unless you’re a big spender/NEED your product immediately and open your wallet for air freight instead), but these boats gotta dock so that people working the docks can take off and process the shipping containers. but there is a shortage of dock workers because of covid.
so because there is a shortage of workers at the dock, the boats carrying these shipping containers are just circling the pacific, waiting for their turn to dock, because the workers are currently so overwhelmed and behind that there literally isn’t anywhere to store these shipping containers. so there is a backlog
also would like to point out that there is a limited amount of shipping containers for more product to be loaded into, because all of the available containers are currently stuck on the ocean or stacked somewhere at the dock for an indeterminate amount of time. you know how supply/demand works! a high demand for a limited amount of containers means that companies have to pay an arm and a leg to even get their product on a boat to possibly maybe have product to sell in the near future. as in, the price of one of these containers now goes for up to 10 times what it used to 😬
once product finally gets removed from shipping containers, it is then placed on trucks that will take it to retailers/delivery services/etc. BUT, there currently aren’t enough trucks to do this, because there aren’t enough truck drivers becauseeee…you guessed it…COVID
anyway, all of this happens before you, the consumer, can ever hold it in your hot little hands. production schedules across the globe are being fucked and for the past year, companies have no way to know for sure when their product will arrive. this is why prices are going up on a lot of things because demand is overwhelming supply and there’s currently nothing anyone can do to fix it 😩

Okay this is going to be a pretty big update related to work. And it’s gonna be pretty big because I haven’t been writing my rambling posts lately because I’ve been too busy at work when I normally would’ve gotten my feelings written down. idk how many are interested in this these days, but I know I’ve had followers that found my work updates interesting.
As you may remember I worked as a supervisor at a fabric store for many years and was worked into the ground with a horrible pittance for my effort. That company folded and I worked at Target for just over a year at the front end to utilize my management skills, but I realized that I had basically learned everything I could in such retail settings and I wasn’t happy. So I left and ended up working for Shopko pharmacy... for about a year until they also folded.
So the last two years I have been working at a Kroger pharmacy. I will be blunt - I am not a fan of Kroger though the reasons why are not specific to just Kroger but are evident in most retail pharmacy chains (and corporate customer service in general).
When we started administering COVID vaccines it was... rough. It wasn’t quite as horrible as the first few months after opening the new pharmacy because now we have learned a lot and know how to do most of what we’re doing and overall our patients are not abusing us as they had early on. But we are running around 26 vaccines over the course of two hours and not processing and dispensing medications during that time so we then spend the rest of the day frantically attempting to catch up while all of our patients that had to wait until we resumed daily services flooded us at once. We were short a tech for nearly three months and she has just returned and I already noticed the difference this past week. This means that now we are not spread thin with no extra coverage but instead no longer have to pick up tons of extra hours on top of having no extra coverage to help catch up from the vaccine clinic.
A few weeks ago I stayed over five hours after my shift, two of which during closed hours, and even two techs working literally all day including after closing with the pharmacist and getting caught up on several projects wasn’t enough because by noon the next day we were already sinking. It was at that point that I determined I was done. It didn’t matter how much we tried, we couldn’t get ahead and this meant that every day it felt like we were terrible techs unable to do our jobs competently.
I didn’t have any deadlines or programs at the library the following Monday so I decided to use my first vacation day in over a year for a three-day weekend only to be asked if I could come in Monday evening at the pharmacy because it was such a shit show. I decided not to go in because we are very limited on what we can do after 5 anyways but I felt so damn guilty about it so a few days later I started job hunting with the goal of looking for something that will use the different skillsets I have developed at the library hopefully I can find a part-time job running a local business’s social media though that isn’t very likely in the small community I live in. All I know is that I am Done with pharmacy.
Meanwhile about ten years ago I started working at the circulation desk at my local library and found I was truly passionate about libraryship as a career. I’ve wanted to work in technical services processing books full-time for years, but technology and the changes of how libraries run means this is not a likely option unless I am at a much larger library. Around five years ago I kinda fell into the program and volunteer coordinator position and while I have had to manage many challenges and work to improve myself to meet those challenges it has been a good experience. Unfortunately it is only a 20hr position and after years of telling my director I would like more hours and I could bring so much more to the position if I had those hours, she kept hesitating to explore that.
This past year my old director retired and we hired a new director. This director has experience at libraries that had dedicated positions for building and managing an online presence and reaching communities in a variety of ways, so when she heard the ideas and suggestions I made throughout the pandemic while we were offering services virtually and determining that we had a HORRIBLE online presence it became an interest to her to possibly utilize my skillset to build that online presence. She tasked me with working on social media plans only to realize I was overburdened with programming at 20 hours and unable to put time into social media so she stepped that back.
The need to build our online presence hasn’t gone away though as Youth Services posts all their virtual programs via Facebook Live and has been sharing many other posts and Adult Services has stepped up their game as well meaning posting conflicts have started to be an issue since everyone has basically just been posting whatever they want with little to no consistency or branding. So my director tasked me with herding cats even though there has been no recognition of my role as a leader leading to me not wanting to overstep.
I asked my director in my bi-monthly meeting about a desire for more hours as well as a better understanding of my role in the future of our library. My city fucked up their budget a year or two ago and with COVID our hours and positions are actually on a freeze so I cannot get more hours though my director does have the goal of getting more hours to a few positions including mine. We are joining our local system this year which may mean we do not need our technical services positions so if any of them leave those hours could be allocated elsewhere. I just have no idea when these hours could become available. But this conversation did lead to giving all of programming to Adult Services and having my job become marketing and volunteer coordinator instead of program and volunteer coordinator.
My only concern is that this change may mean my position doesn’t need more hours later down the road? And that is literally all I want: a full-time position at my current library (since I am settled into this community) so I can work one damn job and have benefits. (My teeth have been a mess for years and yesterday I ate a nut wrong and was in so much pain I left one job early and called in sick to the other.)
Over the past couple of years Youth Services has started tasking each of their staff with planning and running their own programs and our goal is to do something similar with Adult Services. The biggest issue with that is that my current programs may not really play to any of Adult Services strengths, so some of my programs may be dissolved later this year.
I suspect Garden Guru which we market and host but is planned and presented by Master Gardener Volunteers will continue as it is fantastic series with minimal work on our end. We will probably end up changing around book club a fair bit which is fine as it has always been in a state of flux as I worked to figure out how to make it work well. Paint & Sip hasn’t been run in over a year due to the pandemic but will likely continue in some form. Make & Mingle has been monthly kits which is EXTREMELY time consuming and will likely be changed a fair bit when taken over by Adult Services at least during the transition and probably afterwards as they plan for its future.
Paint & Sip’s popularity has been my biggest frustration over the years but it and Make & Mingle have also been the most gratifying for me as I have always gotten the most positive feedback during and after those programs from participants. Also my office is basically a craft storage space and I am going to miss being known for the crafts.
I need to write up a new job description. I need to write out my programming planning and organization for Adult Services as a guide as they take over. I need to continue moving the Google Drive folders from my personal Google to the library’s new Gmail so that Adult Services will have control over them. I need to make sure these programs are all planned out enough to make sure transition is relatively smooth (Adult Services staff will either shadow my programs a few times or I will shadow with them as they take over and I figure I will work with the staff picking up different programs for transition plans).
So yeah... a fuck ton has been going on the last several months both overwhelming and exciting.

since ur answering asks and shit can u explain what u meant by generational differences in communication
Damn it’s like 2015 tumblr when my inbox used to be WET. So if you’re talking about the controversial opinions post, YES, like I totally understand where people are coming from when they say that generational divides aren’t real (because they aren’t, they’re arbitrary) and distract us from real problems and yes they paint past generations as collectively bigoted when Civil Rights protestors in the 60s (who are in their 70s and 80s now) are mirrors to BLM protestors today, who could be of any age, but the most vocal and famous (at least online, especially irt to the founders, like Patrisse Cullors who is 37.
But how we communicate is sooooo different. I really point to the Internet and Social Media as a major influence in how younger millennials (more Tom Hollands and less Seth Rogans—see even there, I feel like there are two different types of Millennials) and Gen Zrs/Zoomers and even Generation Alpha behave and communicate. We live in a world where we grew up either knowing right out the gate or discovering the hard way that what we say and do has permanence, the kind of permanence that prior generations have never experienced until today. The dumb things kids have been saying since forever can now follow them... forever. We have an inherent understanding of how online spaces work. Compare that to, idk, let’s say you posted on your Facebook (for the first time in 18 months) “All these big and bad grown ass Senators going after actual child Greta Gerwig lol ok, you’re so brave for attacking a CHILD over climate change” and then your aunt, who’s turning “forty-fifteen” in May replies to your post with “So happy to see my passionate niece! Much love from us, hope you’re doing well. Paul is doing great, waiting on his screening results. Tell your mom I said we miss her, we need to get together, we forgive her for last Christmas.”
Like... ok there’s a lot going on there, but your hypothetical aunt is oversharing on a publicly accessible post. And even with the most strict of privacy settings, she’s oversharing where your other Facebook friends (which may include classmates, coworkers, etc.) can see. But she’s saying things that would only be appropriate in a 1-on-1 conversation. This Aunt doesn’t have an understanding of such boundaries, she’s not as technologically literate and hasn’t grown up in a world of Virtual Space, she still gets most of her news from TV, she trusts what a reporter on Channel 4 will read off a script more than what actual video footage of an incident might reveal on Twitter, and she has no clue that she’s been sharing her location data with every post she makes.
There’s such a huge difference. I think it even affects how we experience and express stress and frustration. I think growing up partially in online spaces has made me more accustomed to conflict and consequence-free arguing than someone who never had to worry about that. I’ve been exposed so much to harassment and bullying, triangulating and echo chambers in forums and threads, and vastly opposing point of views at such an early age that it’s had an effect on how I see the world. Compare this to a customer I helped two weeks ago who was looking for a specific type of supplement for children. I found it for her, I handed her exactly what she was looking for, even though her description of the product actually matched several different products; to make sure I’d done my job thoroughly and that she leaves happy and satisfied and doesn’t bother me again, I then show her more products that match her description so that she knows she has options. And she proceeds to freak out, saying “NO, NO, I’M LOOKING FOR [X] AND IT HAS TO BE [XYZ]” and when I say freak out, she looked stressed and PANICKED. And being a retail employee wears you down bit by bit, and add COVID on top of it and little shit like this makes you snap, sometimes. So I have to cut her off like “Why are you screaming and freaking out, jfc you’re holding what you said you wanted. It’s in your hands. I gave you what you wanted, I’m just showing you more things.”
That customer is not an exception, she’s not a unique case. She’s representative of a frightening percentage of her generation, the kids who watched Grease and The Breakfast Club and Ghost in theaters when they were originally released. This is how they communicate and process information. She could not, for some reason, register that her need had been fulfilled, and defaulted to an extreme emotional response when given new and different information.
I’ve yet to deal with someone younger than 35 act the same way, the exceptions being the kids of very wealthy people at my new job who reek of privilege I gag when they walk in—but even they are like *shrugs* “ok whatever” and understanding when there’s something I can’t do for them.
Me: “sorry, we are totally out of that one in your size, but I can order it for you, it’s 2-3 day shipping at no cost to you and we ship it straight to your house”
A rich, white, attractive 22-year-old who’s had access to organic food, a rigorous dermatologist, and financial security since she was born: “mmm... sure, I’ll order it”
A 47-year-old of any socioeconomic background, of any race, in the same situation: “AHHHHHHHHHHH”
I just think it’s crazy how three generations of kids and young adults raised in a world where everything moves so much faster, where knowledge and entertainment and communication can be gathered so much faster, are often so much more polite and patient and understanding. Yesterday I told an older man (mid-50s) whose native tongue is the same as mine, as clearly and succinct as possible, that what he’s looking for is “in aisle 4.” He proceeded to repeat back, “Aisle 7?” four time before I dropped everything to show him what he needed in aisle 4, despite his insistence that he didn’t need me to walk him there. 4 and 7 sound nothing alike in English. There’s just something going on up there 🧠 that’s different.
Oh, other generational divides!!! We have different approaches to labor and working. Totally different! I’m a “young” millennial where I’m almost Gen Z, and I’ve noticed an awful trend among my demographic where people actually brag about working 90 hour work weeks. Or brag about how they skip breaks and live on-call to get the job done for “the hustle” like this “hustle, become a millionaire by 30″ culture that’s dominated these kids, idk where tf that came from. Like why are you proud of being a wage slave, getting taken advantage of by your millionaire/billionaire overlords. Compare this to my mother’s generation (she’s a borderline Genius X’er, she and her best friend were a year too young to watch Grease when it came out and had a random older woman buy tickets for her; she went to Prince concerts, took photos of him, then sold the photos on buttons at school, that’s her culture and teenage experience), where she’s insistent on her rights and entitlements as an employee, and these things she instilled me: “whatchu mean they didn’t schedule a break for you and you’re working 12 hrs today? oh no, you’re off, don’t answer your phone cuz you are NOT available!” There are Gen X’ers who entered the workforce at a time that America was drifting toward this corporate world, with more strictly defined regulations, roles, and understandings of labor rights (and also, let’s talk about how the 80s there was so much more attention on workplace harassment, misogyny and gender divides in wage gaps, etc. etc... not that much has changed, but at least it was talked about!). There are young people today who are taken advantage of because they aren’t as informed or don’t feel as secure and valuable enough to claim what belongs to them.
At the same time, those generations (Gen X and older) have a different viewpoint of hierarchies in the workplace and respect irt our direct supervisors. That’s how you get this blurring of boundaries between Work Life and one’s Personal Life that leads to common tropes in media written by their generations, where oh no! I’m having my boss over for dinner and the roast beef is still defrosting :O is such a “relatable thing” for them... meanwhile us younger generations are like I don’t even like that you know where I live, and if I see your 2017 Honda Civic pass my place one day, we’re going to have a problem. I think older generations have a different relationship with the word “Respect” than we do. Like, my grandma, who’s turning 87 (?) this year, and the other seniors in my area, they have a different concept of honor and an expectation of professional boundaries that I, and my mom and her generation, just don’t see (so then there’s something in common with Gen X’ers and the rest of us.) My dad grew up in a world where talking and acting like George Bailey and knocking on someone’s door with a big smile could get you a job, a job that could pay for college and rent no problem. My mom grew up in a world that demanded more prestige, where cover letters and references could get you into some cushy jobs if you’re persistent and ballsy enough. And I grew up in a world where potential employers literally don’t see your face when you apply unless they lurk on any social media profiles you have publicly available and they hold all the cards, and you need all those CVs and reference letters just to make minimum wage... so I feel like I am powerless in the face of such employers.

After starting my new job in the fall, I have uh.. upgraded my rig a bit.  I joked on Twitter the other day that it’s name is now “The Wind, Baby!”
Boring computer talk and some stats under the cut.
I have the same case, but I’ve swapped out nearly every other component of my machine in the last couple of months... including the video card.  Look, I know that the 3090 FE isn’t technically a “Gaming Card” (even though it was advertised as such) and Gamers Nexus tore it to shreds for the claims, but I’d been trying to get a 3080 for MONTHS and I was actually able to find a 3090 FE at retail price (on Best Buy’s website and picked it up in-store), it was the only thing available and I was tired of waiting so uh... yeah.  It took me awhile to justify pulling the trigger and I almost didn’t go pick it up.
It’s not the card I wanted, but I decided to keep it, and I’m now happy with that decision.
I justified it to myself by telling myself I’m gonna skip the 40XX series all together so really I’m spending the same amount on this card as I would have for two XX80 cards.  Plus I sold my 2060 that I had before to offset the cost a bit more.  The pricetag was still insane for a single piece of hardware but... welp.  I can have a little insanity, as a treat.
Setting literally everything to ultra and getting amazing framerates is really nice, though, gotta say.
My biggest regret is that the FE series don’t have RGB.  Like, it looks very sleek and high end, and yeah there is that little bit of white lighting, but I really would have liked pretty lights like my 2060 RTX had.  I know I could add a light strip or something but it’s not the same.  Also worried that I may need to buy a brace, though most people say you don’t need it.  IDK.
Also, I need to buy other fans for the front case fans, which you can’t see in the pics because the ones I have were pretty nice fans when I bought them, but they’re also just like, static purple LEDs (which are invisible to the naked eye but the purple is clearly visible in those pics) and I’d like to be able to control the colors a bit more.
I set the lights (and entire case) to a Tom Servo theme for now though, and I’m happy with it, but eventually I’ll probably do other things with it.  Maybe need to dig up a few other small toys that won’t obstruct airflow to theme it out with.  Why isn’t there a Kaidan action figure!?
Putting this here more as a reference for myself when people ask what my hardware is so I don’t have to go back and pull the list from where I bought them anymore:
Motherboard: MSI MAG Z490 Tomahawk Gaming Motherboard Processor: Intel Core i5-10600K Desktop Processor CPU Fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition CPU Air Cooler RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16 LED Desktop Memory - Black (I replaced the fan with one of the ones below.) GPU - GE Force RTX 3090 FE Case: NZXT H500 - Compact ATX Mid-Tower Case PSU: CORSAIR - RMx Series 850W ATX12V 2.4/EPS12V 2.92 80 Plus Gold Modular Power Supply - Black Fans: 3x (soon to be 5x) Cooler Master MasterFan MF120
Monitor 1: ASUS TUF Gaming VG289Q 28" HDR Gaming Monitor 4K Monitor 2: ASUS VE278H 27" Full HD 1920x1080 2ms HDMI VGA Back-lit LED Monitor Headset: Logitech G935 Wireless DTS:X 7.1 Surround Sound LIGHTSYNC RGB PC Gaming Headset - Black, blue Mouse: Logitech G600 MMO Gaming Mouse, RGB Backlit Keyboard: Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000 for Business - Wired (It’s not cool but I don’t care, I love me this keyboard and have bought many of them over the years and need to find a backstock of more of them.)
Storage:
C:\ Samsung 840 Series SSD 250 GB for Windows and misc. programs installed, and one day when I’m not lazy this one is going away and my C:\ will be moved to this one here below...
1x WD_Black SN750 1TB NVMe Internal Gaming SSD
B:\ 1x WD Black 2TB Performance Desktop Hard Disk Drive - 7200 RPM SATA 6 Gb/s 64MB Cache 3.5 Inch  - WD2003FZEX   (Slow but reliable storage for pictures, media, backups of stuff from old hard drives, general file / archive drive.)
G:\Games - Samsung 850 EVO 500TB SSD for video games… only about 50gb free on this one.
M:\ (M for MassEffect) - another 250gb Samsung 840 Series for all 4 Mass Effect games + Mods, also all three Dragon Ag games and The Sims 4 are on there too.  I’d move The Sims off if it wasn’t such a hassle.
S:\ - Samsung 860 QVO 1TB SSD… More gaming storage
V\: Video Games - 1TB SSD for EVEN MORE Video Games…  I think this is also Samsung, but not 100% sure.    Actually filled this one up with Fallout 4 mods last week and had to... delete games.
Yeah I’m not upgrading a damn thing for like 3 to five more years.  Except maybe going up to 32gb RAM. :p
And of course, the second game I’m playing with this beast is Fallout 4.  Still, heavily heavily modded with 4k textures and other big mods and it’s been running smooth.
The first game was Cyberpunk 2077 and no regrets.  It was freaking beautiful and I can’t wait til it gets patched up and some more content added so I can play it again.  I had decided to preorder the game (I let myself preorder one thing a year, this was it for 2020) and blacklisted the game both here and on twitter so I didn’t see most of whatever controversies people keep talking about.  Game ran decent for me on my 2060 with RTX on, and runs amazing now. Honestly the prettiest game I’ve ever played, and I had a lot of fun with it.  I still log in and just drive around sometimes to see all the pretty.
REALLY hoping the Mass Effect remaster has RTX.  Can’t wait to see the game in 4k, maybe looking even better than ALOT makes it look.
And that the modders can make their mods work with it, too.

Maybe I'm just really negative, but I was super surprised to see that the collection is only for sale for two weeks... it just seems so short for it to actually make the impact they want? But what do I know? 🤷‍♀️ love your blog btw, hope things are going well! Also, not sure if it matters: Reitmans is a Canadian clothing store/company that has a few subsidiary stores, one used to be Smart Set (I think those are closed now?).
Waaaaaaait a second, TWO WEEKS? Did I read that right? What a bunch of miserly jerks these companies are. It’s basically free advertising for them and all they have to do is give 1:1 (at cost not retail) for ONE ITEM each and they’re only going to do it for TWO WEEKS???? I hope it didn’t come off as if I was blaming Meghan or her strategy there! I was just trying to point out how stingy these companies are being (in my opinion). I hope it didn’t come off as if I was blaming Meghan or her strategy there! I was just trying to point out how stingy these companies are being (in my opinion) /// While I do think the Smart Set could be a bit better it seems to be a wonderful start! One thing though that I adore about Meghan is that she seems to be so excited about everything that she does and that excitement is definitely infectious!!! /// Something I really dislike is the type of garments. The dress is very flattering, but the pants have a high waste that in overweight people like me gives us the “crotch chub” effect lmao. Most of the clothes only look good on a certain type of woman. Add that to the limited sizes and 😬😬 /// So it looks like that shift dress comes in hot pink (it looks red to me?) but only blue and black dress purchases get donated to Smart Works? Weird. The Jigsaw jacket and pants they’re linking to are part of Jigsaw’s pre-existing Paris line of work wear. While the shift comes in extended sizes, I’m not impressed the jacket and pants only go up to a UK 16. And I’m interested in how the 1x1 will work. Idk it’s all weird // I’m honestly disappointed with the line. It’s a great cause but all the pieces were existing in at least one of the retailers, just re-done for the line, it’s only 5 pieces, sizes go up to 16UK (14US), they’re made in polyester and the campaign for smart works will only last 2 weeks? Idk it just spiralled into a “let’s make it look like we’re good” kind of line // I don’t know why but I thought each brand was launching a “look” for smart works, is it just one place has the shirt, another the trousers, a third the purse etc? // I really want to love Meghan’s idea, I really do. But I can’t.
Ok so I decided to combine all the messages I got about this in to one kind of master post. My plan is to go through what I liked and what I’m not too fond of. I don’t know which one should go first so I’ll put headings and you can read them in your preferred order haha. I should hopefully hit most of the points:
The Good
I talked about this before but I think Meghan’s really underrated skill is being able to spot gaps and understand where she can add value. Having worked with public donations, I related to a lot of the issues she pointed out and I think it’s very astute of her to be able to quickly pick that up for each organisation
Once again, women of colour were front and centre. The women modelling in the campaign were representative, they had different body types and attitudes too. I think that commitment is really impressive
Although some things are in more limited sizes- I think one of the items anyway- most things go up to a Size 24 which is more inclusive
I think we’ve already seen that there’s going to be a huge uptake in the clothing line so I expected that they’ll report a really big result
Her behaviour around the collection so far has been pretty adorable. From the behind the scenes videos to today, she has seemed genuinely excited and passionate. She’s obviously worked hard on the project and when you watch videos I think you want to back her up!!
She’s doing what I have complained about royals not doing in the past. She is doing something with a tangible end result. They will be able to say they gave x pieces to the charity whereas most royal projects have no clear outcomes or outputs. It still doesn’t tell us the impact but it’s better than we normally get from royals!!! More of that please.
The Less Good
I don’t like 1 for 1 models and that’s just an unavoidable fact. I’ve talked about it before and my opinion hasn’t changed since: https://duchessofostergotlands.tumblr.com/post/186776510814/hi-jess-you-said-you-didnt-like-the-one-for-one
I don’t like the clothes. I’m not going to go into a huge amount of detail because this is exclusively personal preference and nothing to do with the merits of the project but I know someone will ask so let’s get it out of the way. They’re too old for me personally. I do get why they went the basic route and re-used things though as it’s quicker and easier
“It’s not a hand out, it’s a hand held.” I mean, it is still absolutely a hand out. I know what she was going for but the dictionary exists. And it’s still a project where vulnerable women are supported by the whims of the privileged. I am a bit concerned at some of the narrative emphasising the purchaser which plays in to what I talk about in point 1
The things she pointed out when she was at Smart Works were that donations “can be a potpourri of mismatched sizes and colours, not always the right stylistic choices or range of sizes.” Now I don’t know if her project actually addresses that issue. It provides high quality clothing but with a one for one model it means that whatever people are buying, that’s what the place gets. It isn’t saying “how many of each item of each size do you want and need to create a more cohesive wardrobe?” and then providing it to them. Something that’s interesting about relationships like this, as a Fundraiser who has managed similar relationships, is that a lot of times when they say “10p from every product will go towards x charity” that’s not true. We have a relationship like that with a corporate organisation and they tell us what they’re going to give us in advance based on projected sales. The money you pay doesn’t come anywhere near us. For smaller projects it might be different but that’s how we do it so we can budget and forecast. It’s possible that Meghan has actually done that but that leads me on to my last point….
The “Doesn’t Fit Into Either Category”
I have quite a few unanswered questions. I’m sure that some of these are answered and please do share links with me but I don’t know where I’m supposed to be going for the fine print, the terms and conditions. So:
I read in one article that proceeds would be going towards the charities rather than just products. Is this true?
If it’s not true, where is the money from sales going?
Have they had an agreement like the one I mentioned above that guarantees a certain number and mix of items for the local branches and uses the 1 for 1 thing as more of a selling point?
If it is a 1 for 1 model, does that extend to colour choice and size?
Are each of the pieces being sold in a different store or is everything available in every outlet?
This isn’t Meghan’s fault, there’s no reason to think she knew about this, but it is so shady of M&S to put a pink version on that is exactly the same but doesn’t benefit the charity. After Meghan saying they put purpose before profits, that’s a dick move from them
Overall
Meghan has clearly put a lot of heart and soul in this project and I think identified a real gap where she could have a meaningful contribution. I personally don’t think that a 1 for 1 model is the most effective way of meeting that gap and although there are plenty of positives I think the cook book was a more comprehensive project than this one

Weird shit going on...
So Ages ago i made my partner a poetry book full of love poems on a self publishing site and it was publicly available but just through their site. I was checking up on Amazon because they are still illegally selling my ebook that was created prior to the love poetry book for my partner. I was going to go about getting my account fixed/finding out what is going on with my KDP. And I noticed my poetry book selling as a paperback..which was like?!?! cos i didnt do that. Then I noticed publishers name the place i made the book on for Kade. Turns out s of October this year it was accepted into the Global Retailers Network and I made some cash. Which IS good kinda...except the book is not the best laid out and was made in rather a quick fashion in time for our 2 year anniversary together. So it is not exactly something I wanted selling on the big boys like Amazon. Which someone actually bought it and gave it a one star. Although their comments did confuse me because almost all my poetry is free form and they complained it was a 7yr olds style of writing partially because I used the AB Rhyme scheme which is not something I typically do well lets put it this way when I write I never set out to use any specific Rhyme Scheme its always just free flow. So I do not understand that complaint. They think I also blatantly ripped off famous musicians and quotes. I mean...??? Are they saying some where in all the poems a line or two is similar to a quote theyve heard because I mean boy I hate to break it to ya but it’d be very hard to ever write a truly original line. I’m sure right now I could find 10 different songs that all have a line in them that is similar to the other.  I can say I didn’t intentionally use a quote I mean generic love stuff is pretty well generic..like ‘you are my moon and my stars’ thats a pretty generic quote and any variations of it...Idk he can go off I guess?? Love poetry has never been my strong suit and the book isn’t like full of amazing poems but I mean...some of the comments did baffle me especially the Rhyme Scheme one because yeah I do free form/flow I dont plan any rhyme scheme and out of the over 500 poems I have written I imagine very few of them would fit the AB Rhyme scheme let alone my whole book being almost all AB Rhyme Scheme poems its meh. But either way I DO want the book removed or at least not for sale because apparently even if they stop selling books/distributing them to the network of like Amazon and other suppliers they can still list it idk why they would though?? I spose if someones selling a 2nd hand copy who knows. FML never post shit online it always bites you in the butt. In all fairness I dont even KNOW HOW it got put onto the sell online outside of blurb program. Because it was verified for this in OCtober of this year...I dont use the site anymore I wouldnt have clicked it for that this year. Unless legit they took 2/3 years to verify the book for sale on the global network and for some reason dumb ass 2016/17 me decided to sell it cos i thought the book was ‘good’ haha.

: Cashier job: Tldr; He was an asshole so, I had to bitch a little.
One very fine, air Cond cold day, I was assigned to the powdered milk counter/register/whatever you call it and you must pay for the milk you wanna buy there. ONLY MILK AND ONLY THERE. This is to avoid milks from being stolen. For convenience purposes, the counter is much like a bar's counter; long and have stuff at the back.
Cue this one fucking asshole pushing his full cart of milk and several other stuff speedingly into the long counter and fucking almost hit me with the cart. He told me to get the milk out of the cart and put them back in. So here's why I decided to bitch.
1. He purposely get into the counter.
2. He was speeding (idk how to word this, so I hope you magically understand me) into me and almost hit me.
3. He tried to sassed me by ordering me take out his stuff.
4. When I told him "You can't do this here, sir. Please take your cart to the front of the counter", he tried to sass me back by saying, "Oh. I always do this. I come here every 4 months to buy milk. The cashiers always just take out the milk from the cart."
5. When it was clearly the counter is for MILK PURCHASE ONLY (as per what I've been told by the seniors and supervisors), he asked if he could pay for diapers as well. I said no. He was like, okay then.
6. He came back to my counter after his milk purchase with a retail assistant from the boutique department, claiming that I FORBID HIM FROM PAYING FOR HIS DEODORANT AT MY COUNTER. The ra was slightly mad at me for not allowing this male asshole to pay here. They made ME, MYSELF, CALL THE SUPERVISOR bcs I was extremely tired and had enough of this male and this ra.
This is how I bitched:
1. Referring to situation number 4, I pushed his cart out of my counter to the front and told him to take out his milk on his own. He did.
2. Situation number 6, I told the ra that the guy did not ask anything about his deodorant to me and he simply made an assumption. Also, I reminded her that my counter is for milk purchase only. When she insisted that customers can pay for the stuffs from her department at my counter, I lost my composure. Me, being new and alone at the counter, called the supervisor to advise. I was partially right, she was also partially right and we all agreed that the customer was an asshole after I told them what had happened.
Thank god all of the cashier department supervisors are kind and understanding.
Call center job: Tldr; She was so stupid that I cried and had to let one of my colleagues to transfer the call to the available manager.
This happened in early 2015. I was just a few weeks into my call center job and that day happened to be the day I switched my shift with a colleague in another team.
A call in from a customer regarding her connection problem long overdue. Being the frontliner, there's nothing much we can do except for giving your report number to our manager and the manager themselves will get it to the related department to solve your issue quickly.
I told her that (well, exclude the manager part) with the hope she would understand. But NOOOO. Bitch aint got it.
She wanted to speak to the manager therefore I told her I will have to put her on hold in order to transfer her call to the available manager. I guessed I have sinned so much. She don't want to be out on hold and proceeded to tell me that her husband was put on hold too last time but it took too long so they disconnect the call. Like, fuckers.
The manager already signalled me that he was ready to take the call but that fatherfucking bitch aint wanna hold. She told me, the person who desperately wanna curse atm, that she worked where I worked. THEN YOU SHOULD FUCKING CRIPPLING KNOW HOW THINGS WORK YOU DAUGHTER OF A FRAGILE MASCULINITY BITCH!! That honestly what was going thru in my whole mind and body. I became so mad that I couldn't curse and swear at this woman that I cried.
She heard me sniffling on the phone and proceeds to question why I cried, you should not cry, did I scream at you, in condensing disgusted tone. I told her I need to put her on hold in order to transfer the call to the manager AGAIN AND AGAIN BUT THAT BITCH JUST DONT WANNA COOPERATE AGAIN AND AGAIN.
A few colleagues around my station heard me (they knew I was new) and started to help me by whispering words by my ear but guess what. THAT BITCH EAR CAUGHT THAT AND WANT TO SPEAK TO THEM. You think she might understand by now BUT NOOOOO. BITCH STILL DONT WANT TO BE PUT ON HOLD.
As a last resort, one colleague literally took my headset off me and proceed to speak to her. I went straight to the toilet to dry my stressful tears. I can't curse at the customer bcs it is being recorded. If I do, I'll lose my job and this is stressful. I left the job as the contract ends. I'll lose my whole mind if I continued that job.
