synopsis; pianist Scara always plays solo right? until you get booked by the same people for the same event and the two of you have to work something out to play and with a lot of fights and disagreements about what to play for this event you two decide on the perfect duet and could this blossom into something more than just orchestra partners?

Scaramouche always thought be would play solo. It’s just always been that way since he was young “You’ll be better by yourself” His mother would say. His opinion suddenly changed when you came into his life. He was in the practice room and suddenly you walked in “Oh, i’m sorry I’ll just go” you said before walking out “Wait who are you?” Scaramouche’s voice barely got your attention you turned back to him “i’m [name] and who might you be ?” you smiled as you introduced yourself “i’m Scaramouche it’s nice to meet you, I guess you must be going now” honestly you wanted to know more about him but you had other things to worry about.
As a recent you got booked for a wedding and you wanted to nail it down and of course you didn’t want to disappoint a couple on their big day. The wedding was in a month so you had time to practice as you were practicing you thought of how happy the people would be dancing to your melody it had already been an hour and that was enough for the day you thought.
When you got home you flopped into your bed and unexpectedly you get a text from the woman who booked you it was about how you would have to play with a pianist and she sent you his info and you looked and it was no other than that guy you saw today. You didn’t even have a second thought about him since you saw him earlier in the day. You look at the info and text him about practicing together and you to figured out a time and the practice room.
“Hi, it’s nice to see you again” Scaramouche says as you walk in “Yea it is” you didn’t want to rude or dry but you just really didn’t have much to say. When you two started playing Scara got really bossy “your messing up so much, Your playing it all wrong” the man got up from his piano bench to come over ‘to show you how to really play’ as he’s playing your violin you start to laugh because of how bad he was. He looks at you while your laughing and smiles, something you thought you’d never see. As the days of laughter and practice went on so did your relationship with Scara.
The day you were dreading finally came up the wedding. everything was going fine Scaramouche was playing piano before the bride went down the aisle and while she was walking you two were supposed to play the duet. Then you saw her and it was your time to play you were playing just like how you rehearsed. It was going fine until you played the wrong cord and Scara tried to match what you were playing but you messed up so hard that it screwed up how the bride walked. after that embarrassing scene the two of you go back to his car because he was the one who took you to the wedding.
“How could you mess up?” Scaramouche said with a stern voice “I didn’t mean to i’m sorry..” you didn’t know what more to say “we basically fucked up the whole wedding [name] you fuck up everything” he basically yelling at you for a mistake “Now how do I fuck up everything it’s your fault!” it was silent for a few minutes “it’s not just the music [name] you messed up how i saw music i’m supposed to be doing this solo” you looked at Scaramouche before you got out of his car “if you wanna be solo you can do this without me” as you walked away you could feel your breath get shaky and eyes teary
Being without Scara was interesting non of your other friends played instruments so you had to go to practice by yourself. as you play your favorites like you always did someone walked in and guess who Scaramouche “shit sorry” you had to process that it was him “Scara wait we need to talk” you put down your violin and walk up to him “[name] i’m sorry for what i said my anger got to the best of me” “i guess you could make it up to me”
Soon kisses turn to bites and Scaramouche ended up on his knees pleasing you “mmh Scara~ just like that hah” the aroma of rosin and sex was something you never imagined “[name] just wanna make you feel good~” Scara sucked and tongue fucked your cunt and you started grinding on his face involuntarily as the coil in your stomach tightened you could almost feel the wave of pleasure wash over you quickly. Scara got up and soon said “we should go back to my place”

Inextricable Angst Ending
a/n: here's the angst ending! meant to be read after Sasuke is healed. it's painful im sorry
fluff ending // first part
Kakashi was chosen to be the Sixth Hokage, and at the time you were thrilled. You knew Kakashi had what it takes to keep the village safe. He instills Itachi and Shisui as village heroes, which delights you. He’s able to pardon Sasuke for his crimes considering his war efforts and sacrifice to the village.
He hates what he has to do next. Ultimately he has to do it for the sake of the five hidden villages, they’ll never feel safe with the possibility. He’s watched you and Sasuke grow closer than ever before, and he can see the love you have for one another. So the day he calls the two of you into the Hokage’s office to announce these plans, his heart breaks. All Five Kage had thought about this painstakingly, and this was the best resolution.
“Sasuke, Y/N. Thank you for responding so quickly. I..well.” He clears his throat, wondering what exactly is the right thing to say in a situation like this one. “The five Kage convened recently, here in the Leaf. The other Kage have made me aware that they are..worried about the two of you rebuilding your clan. They fear a repeat of the earlier histories.” Kakashi explains wearily.
Sasuke straightens his back, looking over at you quickly. “What are you saying, Kakashi?”
“I’m saying the Kage agreed to intervene to prevent you two from marriage and having children. Y/N…will be married to the Kazekage in three weeks.” He replies, clearly pained by the ordeal. He can’t even meet your eyes.
Your world comes crashing down around you. Sasuke and you just found each other, spending every night talking and touching and being together, like you’re inextricably obligated to. Sasuke’s eyes widened. He opened his mouth to speak, feeling only those nasty flames of anger and hatred licking back up his body.
“I–I can’t believe you would do this to me.” You whisper softly, devastated that Kakashi could settle for such an arrangement.
“I had no choice. Either that, or they want your original sentences served for desertion and treason. Y/N…I’m sorry.” Kakashi frowns, arms folded over his chest. “Sasuke…I know that Sakura would make a lovely partner, and she cares for you very much.”
His words cut both of you down, sucking the wind out of your lungs. All this heartache and pain that you’ve gone through, it’s not over. It would never be over. You’re forbidden to be together, just like in all those awful books. Is this really how your story ends?
Gaara is a wonderful man and you’ve always been happy to call him your friend. You’re sure he would do his best to be a good husband to you, but he wasn’t Sasuke. He could never fill that gap, no matter how hard he tried. And to think about Sasuke with Sakura…it was torture. You got up and slammed the door behind you on the way out.
Over the course of the next few weeks, you met Sasuke when you could. Each time it felt worse and worse, because both of you knew it was closer to the last time. You hold each other a little closer, he kisses you a little rougher than intended, but he just wants to savor the way you taste and the shape of your body under his hand. He knew you would be safe, and as happy as anyone forced into a marriage can be, but every bone in his body wanted to take you and leave this village again.
But he knew that you didn’t want that life of danger, and neither did he. He wanted to protect the Leaf, and make it up to the people who couldn’t trust him to marry the woman he loves. Maybe he could prove them wrong. But it would be too late by then. Maybe this is what you meant when you said that life doesn’t work off of deserving, but he had to disagree. This is exactly what he deserves. He’s done so much bad, how could he think he was going to get his happily ever after? You were an Uchiha Princess, you deserved to be married to a Kage and be forever safe and catered to. But he stole all the time with you he could.
True to Kakashi’s word, three weeks from the day he told you about the occasion, you were being wed to the Kazekage. It was a grand spectacle, you think mostly to ease the nerves of the other Kage. The entire Leaf and Sand combine into one massive cathedral-esque type of building, and it’s decorated to the gods. You can smell all the food that’s been made in preparation as you stare at yourself in the mirror. You looked beautiful. This was a fact, your hair was pinned in elaborate braids and your makeup was perfect. You wore a simple but beautiful and traditional Sand style gown. You had citizens of the sand excitedly racing around your room to make sure every detail was in place, and it was magical.
If only the groom were your preferred choice. Not that you really had one.
Kakashi walks you out, the previously raucous crowd falling silent at the sight of you. “You do look beautiful, sweet girl.” He hums in your ear.
“Thank you.” You return politely, not trying to make a spectacle. You can feel Sasuke’s eyes, and you find him easily. He smiles sadly at you, receiving a pat of support from Naruto. Sakura is on his other side. You smile sadly too.
The ceremony is nice, Gaara is kind and you hope you can come to love him in any way similar to Sasuke, because he deserves a good wife. He has made you comfortable since you arrived and tried to give you whatever space or comfort you’ve asked for. He held your hands now, in front of both of your villages, and swore his loyalty to you.
“I, Gaara of the Hidden Sand, the 5th Kazekage, swear my life to yours. I will make you happy, protect you, and give you anything you ever want or need. I will love you and honor you for all our days.”
Sasuke is visibly upset, though he tries to hide it just for you. Naruto squeezes his friend’s hand. He was upset for the both of you, having third wheeled your relationship for most of his life.
The crowd anxiously waits for you to speak. Gaara squeezes your hands in support, and you can tell he’s trying to be the best for you. You smile softly.
“I, Y/N Uchiha, of the Hidden Leaf, the Sharingan Princess, swear my life to yours. I will make you happy, protect you, and give you anything you ever want or need. I will love you and honor you for all our days.” You repeat, allowing him to lean in for the first kiss of your marriage.
And just like that, you were the wife of the Kazekage, Sasuke Uchiha's Princess no longer.

book recs pls? U have amazing taste
im gonna assume this is half in reference to the lilith vincent book i mentioned earlier so i'll give you some of my favorite romances 💞 i tried not to rec a book i've already suggested here before, so some of my very favorites ever are left out!
the authors I'll read like literally anything by are Tessa Bailey, Lily Gold, Ana Huang, J.T. Geissinger, Elsie Silver, Harley Laroux, Rina Kent... and probably someone I'm forgetting tbh but those are some of my favs
also i got a little out of hand and these are kinda all over the place lmao, but here we go! my standards for romance are very low btw so don't judge my taste
Darker romances:
Sticking with Lilith Vincent - I love her books Brutal Intentions and (to a lesser extent) Pageant. Brutal Intentions is a step-dad romance, Pageant (the first of two books, I think the second is wayyy better) is like... dark, mafia, reverse harem, kidnapping, a whole lot tbh. Look up trigger warnings!!! I think she lists them at the start of the book
I don't particularly like H.D. Carlton (I very much so disliked Haunting/Hunting Adeline) but I fucking LOVED her book Does It Hurt? If you want fucked up characters, toxic relationships, noncon, and a pretty well-written subplot for a self-published romance I would recommend this one! (tbh I'm half convinced it's ghostwritten, I cant fathom Haunting Adeline and Does It Hurt? being written by the same person)
Sinners Anonymous & it's sequels by Somme Sketcher. Mafia romance. Age-gap. Kinda trashy but very fun imo. Also read Danielle Lori's Made series if that sounds neat to you!
M.L. Marian's Claimed & Tamed series. Each book follows a different man in the same family where the tradition is that men kidnap their wives. My favorite is Caught <3
Romcoms/Lighter stuff:
I like most Mariana Zapata books, but my favorite is either Under Locke or Luna and the Lie. I've read 7 of her books and they're all basically the same structure with the same characters, so if you read one and like the dynamics you'll probably like her others
One Percent of You by Michelle Gross is my favorite single mom romance of all time. Tattoo artist who hates kids falls in love with his over-worked neighbor who's a single mother of two. SO cute and soft
Bittersweet by Morgan Elizabeth. tattoo artist x baker, this is one of my favorite romcoms ever.
Sunny Disposition by Deanna Gray. Amnesia, college, hockey, roommates to lovers, this is a very soft and fun read that I enjoyed as a bit of a palette cleanser. Iirc it was a little long, but a good time
Other??:
When a Scot Ties the Knot by Tessa Dare. I don't like historical romance much, but this doesn't really feel like one to me! A woman makes up a soldier to write letters to so she can avoid getting married, and years later he shows up on her doorstep ready for their wedding. This is so much fun
Transcendence by Shay Savage - two words for you: Caveman Romance. This is told entirely from the caveman's perspective and tells the story of him meeting a woman who's very odd (because she's from the future) and their life together. It drags a little bit at times, but I think it's so so fun and the end had me crying
King by TM Frazier goes a little off the rails, but I had fun with it. The main character is called 'Pup' for like 90% of the book and that was enough for me. Our FMC has amnesia and is taken in by a local gang leader and the plot goes from there
Under His Heel by Adara Wolf - ok before I say what this is about, I cannot overstate how dark and fucked up this book series is. They're disturbing. I loved them, I've read them all at least twice, but they are deeply upsetting. It takes place in space in the far distant future and follows our main character Alex as he becomes an indentured servant for a sociopath named Captain Tracht. These books are a weird mix of porn and plot, but if you want fucked up smut and fucked up relationship dynamics, this is the holy grail

ok, i feel i must make a wrap-up post to the jane eyre experience for those who were interested.
jane herself is one of my favorite female protagonists ever. she's so straightforward and blunt in a way even women today aren't always allowed to be and she's so true to herself even when she's homeless and starving or when she's being abused (except in the case of st john but i'm getting to that)
i liked most of the side characters who weren't being dicks to jane. rip helen burns i'll remember you forever.
actually, most of jane's relationships with women seemed more interesting than her relationship with men. im out here truthing for gay jane <3 say nothing about diana please that was NOT my fault
for all of her suffering, almost everyone who was ever horrible to jane got theirs in the end. so that was nice.

the sections with the wife wandering the house at night were legitimately terrifying. like, to me, almost 200 years later, with all of my lights on. holy shit. context has been given to me also about the plot twist being that it's NOT a ghost but just a regular human person being pretty shocking at the time so i also think that's clever
some of the details don't quite click with um 2024 sensibilities. for example, "st john is such a good person going to india to be a missionary and even being willing to die over there" i think he should have died faster and i hope they dumped his body in a garbage heap. also, i was under the impression rochester was keeping a WHITE woman in his attic. like keeping any woman in your attic is bad but COME ON. and finally, there was this really pervasive belief throughout the book that you could glean someone's personality and intelligence etc through their physical features. it was talked about almost as if it was a science, but all it basically amounts to is "beautiful people are Better." ok.jpg
i don't. super feel like rochester was redeemed in the end? i guess i got spoiled by p&p but even though rochester SUFFERED and was PUNISHED he didn't CHANGE. i still don't think he's worthy of jane, and so the ending where she's just his caretaker forever now...i'm glad she's happy but i am a little baffled
i also felt a little baffled by jane letting st john walk all over her there near the end when she had Firmly established earlier she was not that kind of person. she was willing to starve to death rather than compromise her morals even though she really loved rochester, so why on earth did she almost let herself get bullied into a loveless marriage with her own cousin?
THAT SAID, i do like the reading of "well because of how it was she has to get married and rochester gives her the greatest degree of freedom because she has him well-tamed." that's very true.
i think everyone promised me too hard that the end of the book was gonna be good and make the rest of the book worth it because i had built it up in my head to...being a little More somehow. i thought the money was the big break and then it just made her more miserable until she went back to rochester because of ??? supernatural and/or religious reason. i don't think that ending magically fixes everything
i also think that if i go back and rewatch the movie, which i do plan on doing, it might sell me on the jane/rochester romance more, because actors are good at having charisma and making their characters enjoyable to watch on a screen. i think i never quite understood what jane saw in him, but if i could see it, i would be happier about their reunion
i'm still glad i read the book and got to know jane whether the movie fixes it for me or not. she's really one of the best female protags. i remember thinking a few times in the novel lizzy bennet would never have survived some of the stuff jane eyre did...on the other hand, darcy is ten times the man rochester is lol. crossover fic with darcy/jane..............?
anyway, i will make another post when i eventually get around to the movie. hope it fixes me 🤞🤞🤞

Just curious, but do you have any headcanons one what the Cat’s deal could be and what she is/where her oddities come from? While her comment about not having had a vacation in 150 years does seem like it could suggest that denizens are immortal or at least long lived in general, I just can’t help puzzle over answers like this from Owen that make sure to point out she is an exception rather than the norm:
Add in her shuttle and implicitly the number tracker that Simon probably got from her that holds a design aesthetic different from anything we’ve yet seen on the train, and it really paints quite a mystery surrounding her. Though not her relationship with Frank, that we already know about lol. What are your thoughts on her?
OHOHO mAn, my knowledge on the cat is super limited because I struggled with deciphering what were theories and what was facts we'd learned in canon (and... my hyperfixation lies pretty heavily with book two and begrudgingly with book four, which only have minor cat appearances).
I'll explain what my original thought process was and how im going to have to edit it now, since I think there could still be a connection.
Before I'd assumed she was one of the 'original denizen'. Perhaps when the train first started, One had not considered how hard of a life it would be for a denizen to live forever and to always be saying goodbye. And after so long being alive, obviously you figured your way around and made a way for yourself.
Some cars seem to 'reset' so to speak, once a passenger has been through. (Or I assumed they did, given some of the examples we see.) Like Tulip after leaving the Straight Up Italy car- how should the next passenger learn their lesson and help the rose woman if not because the car resets? (ofc we see her wandering around in book 2 so that's false)
I didn't think every car would reset, Tuba talks of the loss of her children- and I figured it was a balance. Some denizen's live their whole lives repeating one moment because they remember nothing else. And some live full lives, because there are some things you can only offer to another once you've experienced them (not empty platitudes). And then there would be the Originals, denizens who lived since the start of the train, or at least, from very early on. Having lived so long, knowing so much, it's a kind of help that could only be found on the train.
I'd also figured that, if that wasn't the case, it was just that Samantha had 'nine lives', and lived them out consecutively, likely retaining her memories since she appears very much the same as she reoccurs in the background.
But there aren't any denizens like the cat. At least none that we're alluded to.
Alternatively, I think it'd be interesting for the cat to be tied to One in the sense that Amelia is. One likely let Amelia help because he wanted to better understand his purpose in helping the passengers. And what better way to understand empathy then through a pet?
Maybe she wasn't doing what a pet did, but how would One know? He obviously had many flaws in how he worked and what the train did, I think it'd be interesting for the cat to be an earlier attempt at connecting with the trains reason for existing. Likely one that went wrong.

YOO... i just sped read chapters 25-39 of CS and I'm absolutely. blown away. i know my last ask was pretty recent but i need to immediately run to your inbox. i don't think this is as long as the previous one but it is pretty lengthy, take ur time to respond :>
first off, rita skeeter gets on my nerves oh my god she is so annoying... i find it so entertaining watching hadrian using jacob for info though. i'm kind of a jacob sympathizer - he did mess up really bad but i do like that addition. i don't expect them to become buddy-buddy though,, LMAO hadrian blackmailing skeeter is also really funny imo
the ball was cool and fun and all, loved the interactions between adalard and hadrian. it was very? relaxing? adalard is probably one of my favorite side characters. hadrian being drugged and then being yanked into riddle's office and then. they almost kissed was absolutely wild. it compares to the 'sleeping in riddle's office' scene. then hadrian's dread when he realized what he did was absolutely hilarious.
THEN hadrian finds out about the order and lily's affiliation with them,,, hadrian meeting sirius was amazing i love sirius he is babygirl. later his interactions with the other members of the order are really cool. he knows them but he doesn't - he only knows them through the lenses and stories of lily's but there's no real connection. i think that's really sad :(( tonks and remus are so cute also. it's been years since I've read the books and i don't remember ever really getting the chemistry between them until i read that small scene you wrote of them !!!!
oh jesus when lily and riddle meet,, bringing her to the place james proposed to her was just downright cruel man. i SWEAR the shock i felt when he took lily.... hadrian realizing like a day after and just GOING off to find her.
i originally thought that hadrian's patronus was a dog?? like sirius dog?? because he said 'good boy' to it and then sirius commented on it and i thought it was a dog. black panther is really cool though !!!!
THEN the scene with the woman and,, i forgot to mention her in my last post but lowkey she is way more intimidating than voldy for some reason. its the mysteriousness or something man,, and how she takes voldy not seriously at all. "little lord" is what really gets me...
the entire ball-doppelganger thing was cool as hell !! i love the dance between hadrian doppelganger and bellatrix . harry finding lily and going back - i felt really bad for tonks with what hadrian said though hadrian is entirely justified to what he said. he doesn't even know them.
honestly i was very very afraid for hadrian when voldy went to severus for the numbing cream and then talked about ... dark mark stuff. hadrian put himself through that - just so that lily could awake from her coma-sleep-whatever.
pleasantly surprised that it was not a dark mark though,, i wonder what effects that thing will have throughout the story. severus' discomfort while watching hadrian and riddle's interactions are hilarious. oh yes hadrian big brain realizing he has some of riddle's blood as well. however. let's get to the big thing
“Are you insane?” He whispered, voice cracking. “I’m me, mum.”
OH MY God that line. i've seen it in another one of your asks before HOWEVER it hits so much harder in context. earlier sirius had reprimanded? scolded? lily for dismissing hadrian because of his age and referencing his own fallout with his mother and it hits so hard when hadrian and lily have their own fallout. .... .
i want to strangle lily,... she has the audacity to say shit like that after hadrian did so much to save her?? and like, she just doesn't even consider the amount of hurt she'd cause by saying that... GJJDHJHSHGAGSDG
anyway, im going to continue reading so have my kudos author-nim !!!! ur fics make me feel so many things

Rita Skeeter is the bane of many peoples' existence I feel 😂 while she only pops up once or twice, I'm glad I managed to get her unique brand of obnoxiousness right.
Jacob's actually a fun character to see the reaction to over time. He started out as someone most were chill with, then the goblet happened and it was all fire and pitchforks, and then slowly over time he's largely now become a tolerated presence. It's genuinely so much fun to see the progression.
And I'm glad you liked the Yule Ball! It was such a fun chapter to write! Adalard got a chance to shine, and of course, The Interaction between Hadrian and Riddle 😂 fond memories
The Order and Lily and Hadrian is such a mess, but the conversations in those early scenes really set things up for future events 😉 and I'm really happy that Tonks/Remus worked for you in CS! I know wolfstar is usually the default ship, but I actually really like Tonks and Remus so I couldn't resist haha
And the kidnapping of Lily...you can't say she wasn't tempting fate there 😂 Hadrian going into mission-mode to rescue her, creating his doppelgänger, invading Riddle manor, snarking with Bellatrix - he was so fun to write hahaha
The Lady is an ongoing mystery in CS - discord has a whole list of potential suspects lmao. I'm holding my cards close to my chest on her though. Her lack of concern over Riddle is such a boss move though - she basically speaks about him like he's a misbehaving toddler 😂
And oof yeah the mark - people were losing their minds when that happened! Hadrian sacrificing his freedom for his mother, and then having her spit in his face...that was brutal. That whole fight, and Hadrian's poor little heart breaking...I felt so bad for the boy.
It's wonderful from a writer's perspective though to hear that the fight between them, and that line in particular, got you good. All the context in that scene, and all the little things that had been building up since the early chapters - it was very very satisfying to write!

“Thank you for dropping me off. You know I could've just biked to work?” you ask him, closing his door. You circle to the driver's side, leaning on his open window.
“I like driving you to work. Dinner tonight?”, He suggests.
“I could go for some wine-ing and dining,” you play with the thought. Unfortunately, Maria’s been on vacation for the last week, so you’ve taken care of the shop yourself.
“Ok, I’ll pick you up at closing.” he leans his head out the window to connect his lips with yours.
“I love you,” you say, pecking his lips once more, then turning away from him to walk to the shop's door.
“I love you more,” he says quickly, rolling up his window. Then, before you can retort, he drives off.
It's corny, but you both argue about who loves who more. He’s so frustrating.
You snort, unlocking the door and stepping inside.
Today’s going to be different. You can feel it.

“Did you pick it up?” I ask Steve.
“Yes.” Steve throws the ring box at me.
“How did you get all that money past the misses?”
“Told her I lost a bet to you.”
Steve snorts. “So today is the day? The day Javier Pena settles down. We really should have cake.”
“I am so nervous.”, I say, bracing my head with my hand.

For the last month, Javier Pena has been driving himself absolutely nuts. Should he propose? Should he not? There are so many things he has to take into consideration. He’s never felt this way about a woman before. This week, she’s been covering for her boss and the empty hours without her has brought him to snoop around her stuff. He has read approximately 5 of her books. Fantasy books about men in flowy white shirts on ships, some hot and heavy scenes that would make a nun pass out. But they all ended up with the man saving the woman and passionately kissing her. Demanding she marry him.
One day he was so invested that he forgot the time. Y/N was unlocking the door and he nearly tripped on the carpet putting the book back on the bookshelf.
Grabbing the dictionary, he barely reached the couch before she got inside.
“Honey! Im home”, she shouts out.
Acting surprised, he lifts his head, “Oh! Hi! You’re off earlier.”
She walked in clutching four paper bags, clearly struggling. “Yeah, the cafe was super dead so I locked up early. The weather was nice so I thought I might walk.”
He hopped up in a flash. “Let me help you with those”
She twisted away in rejection. “You need to take it easy. The doctor said no heavy lifting. Anyways, so I remember we needed bread so I dropped by the grocery store and I was shopping hungry. So, now im making chicken alfredo for dinner.”
“I wouldn't call bread and milk ‘heavy’ but”, you put up his hands in surrender, “you’re the boss”
“Can you set the table”, she shouts back, making her way to the kitchen. “Did you feed Avery!?”
“Once this morning, and a little bit before you got here,” he says placing the dictionary back on the shelf.
“You hear that, little girl? You’re dad already fed you. Hey! Don’t yell at me, young lady!”. She’s yelling at the cat again, he thinks. Javi laughs to himself. I couldn’t love her more than I love her, right here, right now. He feels for the ring in his pocket. It’s gotta be today.

You’re faking a positive attitude for him. You’ve been running yourself ragged all day. You had multiple wrong orders. Lemon tea in espresso, mistaking heavy cream with half and half. So when the midday rush clears, you decide to close up early. Some fresh air will do you good. It’s been a long week without Maria and you are bone tired. Cooking might be the stress relief you need right now.
Javi was acting weird. He’s been different since the accident. You can blame it on some kind of PTSD but that doesn't seem like the only thing circling his brain. Whatever it is im sure you guys can figure it out. Unless he breaks up with you.
Oh no, he’s breaking up with me.
“I found this red wine at the store and I thought I could try it out”, you pour two glasses of wine. Taking a sip, you cringe at how bitter it is. The longer you spend cooking the more the nasty thoughts get to you.
He realizes he wants better than you can give him. You down the glass.
He found someone else. You pour another glass.
He knows your secret. You down the second glass.
You start to feel woozy.
“Corizón”, he walks in. “You ok?”. He looks you in the face, searching for an answer.
“Yeah!”, you enthusiastically breathe out, “Im good!”. You give him a half-baked thumbs up.
“Here.” He comes around behind you, grabs you under the elbows, and leads you out of the kitchen and to the table. “I’ll finish dinner, you just sit there and look pretty”
You're spiraling. Javi accidentally burned his finger testing the sauce, “FUCK!”, he yells out, sucking on his digit.
He’s mad. We’re breaking up. He knows.
You try some calming breaths. In and Out. Inhale, Exhale. Now you’re tearing up. You hold your face in your hands, sobbing.
He comes walking out, just then looking up at you “Hey do you know where th- What happened? Honey, talk to me. What’s wrong?”
Kneeling, he turns your body to face him, “Heyyy…” he croons, “What’s going on?”, he’s rubbing your knee.
“It's just..” you sniffled, trying to collect yourself. “It’s been a long week and you've just been kind of distant. And I thought maybe you were mad at me for something”
He’s scanning the hurt on your face. “My love, Im not mad. I wasn’t mad. What made you feel like this?” He starts brushing circles on the backs of your hand.
You just sob a little bit more, shrugging.
“I love you… so much. In fact”, he starts patting his pockets, he’s shifting onto one knee. It's much worse, he’s proposing. TELL HIM
“Wait. Wait.”, you stretch your arms out in protest, shaking your head. “We need to talk”
Pain crosses his face. “Ok.”, he swallows, “Let’s talk”

“Correct.”
“You’re pulling my leg”, he scoffs. “I get it. Big joke on the doofus”

“Okay.”, you lift a single finger, running off to find the box under your bed with things you've collected over the years. One reallllllyyy old picture of you. The only one you have to remember your old life by. She looks so lively...
You hand it to Javi. He looks at it closely.
“So you have an ancestor you look exactly like”
“That’s me, in the summer of 1901. There was a giant storm on St. Simon’s beach, I was pulled under by an undertow.”
He flipped the picture, writing on the back says “The Day of the Big Storm”.
“I drowned, Javi. But before I could cross over, I was pulled out, dragged onto the sand, and resuscitated. I was”, you measure an inch between your pointer finger and thumb, “close to dying. I was 20. That’s the day my life changed. After that, I didn't age a day. I have been 20 for 74 years.”
“Do you remember who pulled you out?”
“No idea. Do you believe me?”
“I do. Just give me time. Have you been keeping this from me the whole year we’ve been dating?”, he speaks softly.
Tears start running down your face again. You’re shaking.
“I didn’t know how to tell you… I’ve never told anyone before. I usually move town before I could get close to anyone”
He’s squeezing his temples.
“This is a lot to process.”
“I know. I’d understand if you left right now”
“Goddamit. Hold your horses for two seconds.”, he gets up from the couch, pacing. “I’m not going anywhere. I just need a fucking moment.”
“Javier”, you can barely recognize your voice as it escapes your mouth. “You were going to propose weren’t you?”
He stalls. He shakes his head and utters, “Yeah” he slides his hand down his jaw. “Yes, yes I was”
“And you’re having second thoughts?”
“Yes. No. It’s not like that. Just give me a day to process this. Would you have said yes?” His brows furrow.
“I think we both need time to think about this. “, You stand up and kiss his cheek. “Hey”, you place your hand on his cheek, “We’re gonna be fine. I have to clean up at the shop anyways. I’ll see you in the morning, ok?”
You grab your coat and walk out.

It's overwhelming, being inside Remus' home like this, where written into every inch of the well-loved space was evidence for a whole life lived, and everything around him breathed the warm weight of the years.
The family moved around each other like the way they silently talked, instinctually, fluently, constantly flowing around each other as though they knew exactly where the others were, and what they were going to do. They understood each other like drops of water in a stream. And besides the occasional laugh or the soft clatter of things being moved, the house was delightfully quiet.
And, despite what Remus and his mother might say about him being lost, he too fell into the currents winding around the house like he’d never left. This was Remus’ home, and Sirius knew this intuitively, just as he knew with a pang that even if he were to get back all his memories, he’d never had a home like this. Nowhere in this world could Sirius trace with a finger his childish doodles on the wall, nowhere was there a shelf full of books he’d worn away at for years and years.
Sirius padded quietly through their house, trying not to get into anyone’s way, and from the bookshelf, he carefully plucked off a thin hand-bound book. Flipping through, he found pencil marks that, after a moment, he realised to be handwritten poems. Remus must have written them himself, given the way he was at Sirius’ side in an instant to snatch the booklet out of his hand.
But with a smirk, Sirius instinctively shifted his hand out of the way. He turned to grin smugly at Remus’ nervous expression.
"Sirius—" he said warningly, but Sirius ignored him. He focused on a couple short lines, and began reading out loud.
“‘Isn’t it nice to, be able to remember, all our lives gone by.’— Oh, Remus. I quite agree.” Sirius’ grin widened at the flush that rose onto Remus’ face. “You wrote all this, didn’t you? What’s this about?”
"Nothing!" Remus swiped again at the little book, and this time Sirius let him.
"Are you embarrassed?" Sirius said teasingly, “Why won’t you let me read them?”
Remus threw him a furtive glance, while staying stubbornly silent. He huffed, and crossed his arms.
Sirius pouted in jest, turned back to the shelf with the intention of just grabbing something else to rile Remus. But through the gap of the poem book, he caught a glimpse of a— green joker.
"Hey, isn't that— Those are the cards, the ones I’d given that boy earlier. Why have you got them here?"
“No reason.” Remus hurriedly put the book back in place, blocking the half deck of cards out of view.
“Hey.” Sirius frowned, “You’re being shifty. What are you not telling me?”
“You weren’t supposed to see that.” Remus was biting his lips again. “Or maybe you were. Fucking hell, I don’t know.”
“I thought your dad said this town had no secrets?”
“We did also just tell the boy to keep it a secret, didn’t we? Thought he found this a good hiding place.”
“He— doesn’t even live here!”
Remus opened and closed his mouth, seeming stuck in his own train of thoughts. But just then, as though to save Remus from answering, the front door opened. A young woman and man entered, both of them slightly Remus’ senior.
“Huh.” Remus’ attention snapped away from Sirius.
“Who are—”
“I call them my sister and my brother.” Remus whispered in Sirius’ ear, before he slipped away to greet them.
From across the room, Remus’ sister looked curiously at Sirius for a moment, before she turned back to her brother, and delightedly accepted Remus’ embrace. Drawing back, her hands lingered on Remus’ shoulder.
“We worried.” She said, tucking a strand of hair behind Remus’ ear, “The boys say you didn’t come back with them after the moon.”
It perplexed Sirius that she decided to speak out loud. But Remus wasn’t surprised.
"Yeah…” he replied slowly, out loud. “I was with Sirius."
The air changed, and they looked towards Sirius. At that moment, Sirius suddenly felt so fully alien from the magic of the house. He wondered how he hadn’t realised earlier.
"Do you know how long Sirius is staying?" Remus’ sister continued
"You know he's not staying long."
"Mia speaks of the brother who left with the stranger."
At that, Remus took a step back, stonily, mutely stared at his sister, until they both dropped their eyes.
"Remus.” his brother said then, “We're happy to have you back."
And Sirius stood across the room, watching, as the rest of them settled back into their rhythm. He felt suddenly wrong-footed and restless despite the soft brushes of magic Remus sent his way. He was saddened the family had to resort to words in regards to him, and perplexed that Remus’ family thought he was here to take Remus away. He felt like a rock breaking up the stream, his own magic clumsy and burning like an uncontrollable flame through his bones, harsh against their gentleness. Eventually, he could push it down not a moment longer. He stood from the dinner table, and slipped out the front door.

No like of course s1 is just Louis & Claudia's pov but we also know that Claudia follows Lestat around and knows exactly what he gets up to (which is why he intentionally makes it easy to find Antoinette) yet she only sees him with Antoinette and that's the only person who is an issue btwn Loustat. The only other reference to him sleeping around would've taken place in ~1930 when he was kicked out... I guess I have to assume that's a deliberate choice by the show when it would've been quite easy and honestly more logical even to show a bunch of different sidepieces over the years?
But your comments about his sadism is imo more relevant to what he's doing with Antoinette. "spit in a sandwich, it's only fun when you get to take a bite" I think that totally lines up. If he just wanted to indulge, he would've just indulged with anyone and everyone, but he chooses to throw Antoinette in Louis's face for specifically hurtful reasons. I don't really even disagree with you, I just think the intentional punishment is a biggest reason for what he does?

antoinette to me is best as a juxtaposition to louis. a black gay man, who truly loves lestat but cannot be openly with him in a facismile of matrimony bc both interracial & gay marriage is illegal where they at. vs. the white hetero woman who does not love lestat, wants a fun time w/ him, but despite the fact that she can live openly with lestat as a white woman “complementing” the white man, she is the side piece “violating” the marital vampire pact. where antoine in the books was a parallel to louis, antoinette is the antiparallel& yet…. both get treated like shit by lestat.
his sadism is prevalent w both louis & antoinette. lestats no king of social awareness but hes cognizant to the fact that he can be openly out in the world w/ antoinette in a way he cant be w/ louis. in the real world and in the typical vampire story fare its more typical for men like lestat to be with women like antoinette (& not men like louis). but lestat is all but goading louis to kill antoinette in ep3 , and imo he kept her around at first craving to see louis kill her. sure, for sex as well when louis held out, and if lestat had other bodies outside lou during their relationship who knows but i find it more protracted & profound a battle if its with this 1 juxtaposition btwn white singing lady and creole pimp ykwim.. idk i feel like im not quite understanding what ur saying or even what im saying here its not as big of a contradiction as u may think it is? i think when we think of the word ‘life’ we wanna think of good things but ‘life’ also consists of banal cruel sadistic things and protracted punishment if that makes sense.

I saw bullet train today and im gonna preface this by saying I did really enjoy it and I think it's a very well put together movie: lots of narrative threads that pay off completely plus I'm a sucker for creative, experimental, "cartoony" editing and this made good use of it. I would fully recommend it if you like action/dark comedies.
Anyway now I'm gonna criticise it because it's a great example of an excellent movie from a storytelling perspective while also being emblematic of a lot of problems with Hollywood filmmaking. Spoilers incoming
If theres a reverse of the bechdel test this is it. It fails the bechdel test so hard that there isn't a scene where two women even have a conversation, let alone one that isn't about a man
Every female character save one dies. The one who doesn't die is a voice on the phone and only gets 5 minutes on screen right at the end
About half of the female characters are Dead Wives who get no dialogue and die in flashbacks
One black female character is introduced like she's about to be a major player and then dies in the same scene. She dies because of her own stupid mistake for reasons I can't fathom outside of "we couldn't fit this character in the rest of the movie" (I don't know if the character exists in the book. I don't see any mention of them however their assassination method comes up so maybe they are?). It's a crying shame because the character is alluded to earlier in the film, including very fun Chekhov's Gun moment which made me go AH I BET THAT'S GONNA COME BACK LATER (and it does!), and she seems like she's gonna be cool as shit. Nah, dead after like maybe 7 minutes of screentime
Despite being set in Japan and based on a Japanese book, both the MC and the main antagonist are played by white actors (while I haven't read the book, from reading summaries it does divert from the book a fair bit; however both these characters exist in the book and are Japanese)
I do want to acknowledge that the movie changed the gender of (at least) one character to female, which I'm here for. However when this happens it does beg the question as to why it wasn't done more, in the very least to level the cast gender split. I feel like too often the reason is "this character wouldn't work as X gender" which I overwhelmingly don't find a convincing argument
To be clear I know that diversity alone does not a good movie make, and like I said I did enjoy it immensely despite my criticisms. But it was an element of the film that I found very difficult to ignore, to the point that it broke my immersion a few times because after it established a pattern I was like "right, how/when is this person gonna die then".
As I mentioned above, the script does divert a fair bit from the book (again, to the best of my knowledge. I may go and read the book then come back and review these criticisms in that light). In part, yes, because it's being marketed to a primarily western/English-speaking audience, but there are clear conscious efforts to diversify the cast alongside that in ways that worked really well. For example, I think the choice to make the Prince a woman was a good one that they made effective use of.
If nothing else it demonstrates why gender flipping characters when translating to screen requires more thought than just that — it begs considering if changing a character that way will result in playing into overused or unfortunate tropes. I came away thinking — why couldn't Ladybug have been a woman? Why couldn't one of the twins have been a woman — given a running joke is that they don't look like twins at all? Why couldn't the Wolf have been a woman, still motivated by the assassination of her wife and cartel?
One of the plot threads is that the Prince plays up being an innocent girl to get people off her trail, while actually being a brutal remorseless assassin; and I was living a fantasy where she put on this hyperfeminine front to conceal her true identity as masc nonbinary person — maybe there's a scene where she goes to the bathroom and takes off her wig and makeup and dresses down, and comes out completely unrecognisable as another way to evade suspicion. That's not something I expect to see in a mainstream film any time soon, but it's fun to think about
This ended up being way longer than I intended but I wanted to get this off my chest. I do recommend this movie, especially if you like stuff like In Bruges and Guns Akimbo, or if you liked Murder on the Orient Express but thought it didn't have enough explosions. The storytelling is very tidy and pretty much everything, including some completely random stuff, has a payoff — it's one of those movies that makes you feel smart for noticing things early on. I am also curious as to whether anyone else who's seen it has similar criticisms as me!

very hard question… i think on my first read the scene that upset me the most was what happend to aredhel, on a meta level too because while its not 1:1 the trope of stupid woman goes against smart man advice and gets herself [insert terrible thing here]ed its very VERY close to that !! ugh. other moments that got to me after a bit more thinking are basically all the moments that involve children in danger/bad situations because those ALWAYS upset me. a movie or a book can be terrible and horribly written but if theres a crying/upset child ill start crying too… baby elwing being whisked away last minute from doriath orphaned and brotherless is on the top of that list though 😭 it also gets me everytime theres something along the lines of „and they were never seen there again“ like the finality…delicious.. also honorable mention to turin & co’s whole tragedy

Literally just saw the most god awful interpretation of Marcille ever what do you mean she should cut her hair shorter because she prefers a more feminine look? Do you not understand why it was long in the first place? Oh her liking a male character in her elf book means she's not straight because he's pretty feminine (compared to tall men) yet earlier in the post you were saying she's uncomfortable with gender nonconformity? I feel like this person hasn't read any of the extras about elves because they are the most androgynous race in the comics, and Marcilles interest in a more "feminine" man (which you say proves she's queer because obviously only someone who was interested in women as well would want to be with a more feminine presenting man, who is actually forcing gender stereotypes here again? Marcille or you OP?) should show she's fine with gender non-conforming folks. Oh maybe she just prefers more feminine looking people? Maybe, who's to say, but the OP was pushing that Marcille was uncomfortable with gender nonconformity. While I'd argue a shaved head on a woman isn't actually gender nonconformity, it's just a hair cut, in compared to tall-men and elves Namari, a female dwarf, is very masculine and Marcille at no point pushes for her to adopt a more feminine look. Im nit tagging this post cause I don't what the OP to see it but wow, what a misinterpretation of her character 👍nobodies done it that badly before 👍

hi everyone :3 another backlog post from december! its always interesting to look back at something that you were super into during finals. haha. during finals week i think i read a romance novel every 2-3 days?
with this, ive read through almost every single courtney milan book that my library has to offer. they are excellent romance novels if that's your thing, but i also watched some fantastic movies and played some really good games :3 once again will be crossposted up on my website at. some point in time
books:
once upon a marquess by courtney milan: m/f romance. judith, a ruined woman from a ruined family, encounters the man responsible for her familys downfall: her childhood friend. i started reading through this series bc of the most recent installment, the devil comes reading. that ones still my favorite but this one is pretty good! the relationships between the worth siblings were really good and the banter was cute :3 i think ms milans strong sideplots come through pretty clear here--the tension of judiths search for her sister was really sad!
her every wish by courtney milan: f/m romance novella. daisy is trying to bluff her way into a grant to start her business, but only one person has the confidence to bullshit his way through: her ex. ok idgaf about small businesses so i didnt read this one for a while, but crash (the love interest) is sooo charming :3 the reasons that their relationship fell apart and the way those hurts were resolved felt really good i think. yay!
the pursuit of… by courtney milan: m/m romance novella. hunter, a black soldier during the american revolution, is trying to get back to his family. a british deserter with nothing better to do accompanies him. yeah this was cute. not a lot to say about it :3
the charm offensive by allison cochrun: m/m romance which i picked up bc its about a romance between the bachelor (from the bachelor) and a producer on set. (its not actually the bachelor.) very cute! very fluffy! i have to say, not quite as good as uhhhh all of the courtney milan books ive read over the past couple months but still pretty solid. dev is a cute lead but i found the other lead (charlie or sth) kinda annoying for a significant portion of the book. which i think is somewhat intentional but its like ehhh. i can find awkward tech boys irl too. (SPOILERS) liked how the 'evil ex' actually got some nuance to him too
mrs martins incomparable adventure by courtney milan: f/f romance novella featuring two women over 70!!!! and its conwoman x mark?? dudeee miss milan NEEDS to write more femslash im kinda begging here. this was really light and fluffy and also just really awesome. there is a lot to appreciate about romance when youre old i think. im really into it 👍
after the wedding by courtney milan: f/m romance. ok so if you read the first book in the worth saga u know a big b-plot is about trying to find judiths sister camilla. this book is about camilla! so spoilers for that. she gets forced into a mutually unwanted wedding, and while the bride and groom try to annul the wedding they ~also grow feelings~. another milan novel with a weird amount of detail on ceramic design + manufacture? well im not complaining that part was really cool actually. camillas situation is honestly just really sad so its satisfying to see her get out of it
what happened after midnight by courtney milan: f/m romance novella. a man chases after his (former) betrothed after she runs away with his fortune? yeah this was cute. loved the melodrama
unclaimed by courtney milan: dnf. f/m romance. a woman has staked her livelihood on her ability to seduce the ultimate target: the inventor of male chastity??? lmao this is one of her earlier novels published in 2011 (i think) and it kinda shows? the premise is a little bit too unserious for me and the banter/dynamic between the main pair is just not quite as good. it also felt like it dragged a bit. however!!!! i would still extremely recommend pretty much all of her more recently published stuff!! so
love on the brain by ali hazelwood: dnf. f/m romance, but its also by the reylo author. this one neuroscientist has to work on a project with a guy who she thinks hates her, but actually he is ~super in love and too shy to say it~ my mom really wanted me to read this bc she likes the author a lot and "it has women in stem". well guys i have to say i am not a fan of the reylo author. honestly out of all the women in the book the lead is literally the least interesting one? idk it was bad. uninspiring prose. also i wasnt really a big fan of the way it focused on chauvinism and discrimination in the workplace, but thats a personal thing
comics/manga:
peace of mind (2019): short furry comic about a cosmetic brain surgeon, and some of the issues she just cant fix. yeah this was cute!!! pretty classic concept but presented in a sillyfun way imo. like literally only 20 pages i thought the art style was cute go check it out if you have the time
yugami kun has no friends: slice of life school comedy about a transfer student desperate to make friends after moving around her whole life who unfortunately gets placed next to yugami, who is THE MOST AUTISTIC BOY IN THE WORLD. i think i read this whole series in like two days lmfao its just?? extremely charming??? i really like these sort of slices of life where you get to gradually expand your cast of characters over time. everyone is sort of an ass but also trying their best in the way that high schoolers kinda are. also has some very fun will-they-or-wont-they. bro i felt straightbaited. also has some really charming art with good expressions! definitely recommend :3
to strip the flesh by oto toda: manga oneshot from an anthology. chiaki, a trans man, works as an animal dissection youtuber but feels trapped in the closet to keep his father happy. idt it hit as hard for me as it might for some people but i still liked it! wow being trans! and being meat!
movies/tv:
blade (1998): marvel action movie about vampires (and the half-vampire sworn to slay them) but like, before marvel moveis were bad. watched this with friends over the thanksgiving weekend and it was so badass!!!!!!! fuck yeah!!!! honestly id forgotten that action movies can be good but they seriously can be. full of style :3
the boy and the heron: miyazaki movie about uh, grief? and isekai-ing into a cool world with freaky stuff? i heard somewhat negative reviews from my Movie Friends before watching this, which definitely colored my impression. yeah its a gorgeous movie, but also kinda messy and not super coherent imo. mr miyazaki please quit your job and spend time with your family ok. log off
christmas perfection: f/m christmas hallmark romcom. protag who just wants the perfect (IRISH) christmas is transported to a world of eternal (IRISH) christmas where her parents are no longer divorced, everyone drinks hot cocoa every day, she has the perfect boyfriend, etc. will her childhood friend be able to get her out? does she even WANT to get out? so i got this rec from a post made by @.dragonomatopoeia who is apparently the hallmark romcom expert. dude. this movie is so fucking awesome. its literally christmas coraline. i love how everything is irish for no reason and also the irish. please watch this movie
video games:
zachtronics solitaire collection: ok so this is literally just a bunch of solitaire-like games. zachtronic games is infamous for making games that feel like work (spacechem, shenzhen i/o, etc). they also included solitaire minigames in several of these, which are compiled here! most of these are arent standard solitaire games, like spider or klondike. theres a solitaire based off of kabufuda, a solitaire based on mahjong (but not like that other one.) and also my favorite, tarot-based FORTUNES FOUNDATION!! which gives you a READING at the end!!! anyways i had to uninstall this game because i was spending 20 hours a week on it.
7 billion humans: parallel programming game. in a world where robots have replaced all necessary labor, whats left for mankind to do? well, make up jobs for themselves, of course! ive grown up with tomorrow corporations dry, dark, and corporate sense of humor from world of goo and that continues, of course. a fun set of problems that gets really fucking tricky, especially if you even take the teeniest peek at optimization. also has a lot of QOL improvements from the initial game such as being able to c+p code, line by line debugging, and more! i feel like youre already going to know if this game is for you or not.
in stars and time: rpg game about TIMELOOPS!!! siffrin, an adventurer, gets trapped in a timeloop on the day of the final boss. dudeeeeee ok ive been a fan of insertdisc5s writing/art for like an embarrassingly long time and it was really cool to see it in longform. some of my friends got to see me rending my hair and wailing about this game in real time even! i think isabeau + odile was my favorite non siffrin rship, but im a huge sucker for romance so the siffrin + isa stuff really got me. and in the end i got extremely suckerpunched by Loop Obsession and also every single character + convo was very delightful so who can say!!! i remember seeing some crits saying that the writing felt too 'young' or juvenile--it definitely takes a lot of inspiration from undertale, earthbound and the like, but also i think that like. the jrpg genre As A Whole demands some willingness for like. idk Earnest and Youthful Whimsy. plus i literally am a youth so it didnt bother me lol. the game definitely can feel pretty grindy at times, but its also like…. very ludonarratively accurate? or something like that?? like. you get tired of killing the same stuff + skipping the same convos As siffrin becomes inured to the loops, as they become increasingly estranged from the rest of the party. which is honestly really awesome and captures that rpg grindy feeling like nothing else really does haha. (and theres also quite a few features to ease that friction!) even if you played the demo there are some really good twists still left in there and also i teared up at the end fr. who else thought about loop (loop)

i spent a lot of this month listening to the clod by no party for cao dong and scales by king isis, which ive already talked about! so im going to spotlight a couple tracks + one album ig lol??
grace by idles: this is from idles' upcoming album tangk which im super looking forward to!!!! i love when these guys do slower tracks (such as progress and mtt 420 rr from their previous album) and this is a very nice evolution from that. has a warm but slightly eerie feeling
zapper by nanoray: more jungle music!!!! this is the album that introduced me to nanoray bc i knew a guy who would just blast this kind of stuff while cleaning the kitchen. favorites are nekomata '97 and salmon cannon deluxe--i tend to listen to this album in like, airports and stuff or while cleaning? its such such a wall of catgirl-themed sound that its impossible to be anxious :P
iron by woodkid: ok so i found this from the playlists for in stars and time that came out before release--specifically, the one for the king? (big villain who wants to freeze the kingdom in time forever) i havent listened to this since before finishing the game and man. listening to the lyrics with additional context is kinda crazy. anyways woodkid is apparently much better known for directing a bunch of music videos such as KATY PERRYS TEENAGE DREAM? but also makes 'chamber pop' which is when, uh, pop music incorporates a lot of classical instruments? anyways i have a lot of fondness for brass (synth or not) in pop music so this was nice <3 so melancholy… so winter…learning that this was also used for an assassins creed trailer did make me like it less unfortunately.

Just as I am about to open the door to the shop, the door almost hits be as it's thrown open. A pretty blonde storms out, muttering "asshole" as she stomps away down the sidewalk. I take a second to blink and recollect after almost almost faceplanting into a door, and then head inside.
A man stands behind the counter, scribbling into some book. He looks exactly like what you would picture a tattoo artist to look. A mop of wavy hair, numerous piercings, and a full sleeve of tattoos mish mashed together to top it off. He couldn't look anymore like a stereotypical tattoo dude I think, and then he looks up at me. A smirk effortlessly lands on his face. Scratch the earlier statement. He is more of a stereotype than I thought. And people wonder why I refuse to be tattooed by men.
I cock a brow when he asks if "she messed up". "Your the asshole I presume," I say, immediately connecting the dots with the hissy blonde from a moment ago. I don't bother to wait for his answer before turning my attention to Soyeon. "Hey So!" I greet her with a bright smile. "Here hold this." I hand her both my coffee and hers before I dig into my bag. "You left this at home..... aha! Here." I take my drink from her hands and hold her phone out to her. "Just a little important."

I immediately glared at her as she was now being the smug one, "Maybe I am" I replied narrowing my eyes a bit before Soyeon interrupted. We didn't get along most of the time but worked well together in the shop in terms of organizing, cleaning up and scheduling. Besides that we don't really talk or hang out, "I'd rather burn holes into you" I mumbled rolling my eyes.
"Oh shit, I didn't even realize" She chuckled taking her phone, I roll my eyes in response. "It wouldn't be the first" I snarked. Soyeon seems like an organized person overall but never fails misplacing her damn phone, which me or Woosung always have to help her find around the shop. Soyeon sends me a glare, "Thanks sweets" The tattooed woman responds pulling you in for a hug, making me gag.
"After you two are done eye fucking each other get back to your client please, you have another one in an hour and I don't want to cover for you again" I sighed checking the schedule. It may seem like I give Soyeon a hard time, but that's only because she's good, shit maybe even better than me, I don't know. Id rather have her think Im annoyed by her though, "And you, if you're don't have an appointment, leave" I spat before slamming the book closed, then left to my office.
(Oh my fuck I need to practice first person writing because this was shit 😭 I rewrote it twice and still don't like it Im sorry luv 🫶🏻)
