The Humility of Family and Being a Hero: A Darkwing Duck and Drake Mallard Analysis.
Special thanks to @stoopakoopa @mighty-ant @drakepad because they inspired me.
Ducktales 2017. A show that a lot of people saw a simple cash grab and the exploitation of nostalgia of 80s and 90s kids alike. But it was a true surprise. A show of adventure and family and exploring yourself in the family name. This show brought so many characters from the golden age of Disney Channel called “The Disney Afternoon Era” with faces from shows like: Gizmoduck, Talespin, Goof Troop and Darkwing Duck.
The whole concept of Darkwing Duck is quite silly really. A parody of Batman, superhero tropes and even James Bond but with a duck in the suburbs of the fictional city of Saint Canard living with his boyfriend sidekick Launchpad and his adopted daughter Gosalyn. As someone who watched the show in reruns back in the day and recently rewatched it on Disney Plus, I didn’t think I would have appreciated this show as much as I thought I would. Dry and witty humor that caught me off guard and it truly doesn’t seem as dated as other shows from those times.
But I’m here to talk about Drake Mallard and what it means to be a superhero and a parent.
(For the sake of the analysis, I will be referring to Drake Mallard from the Ducktales 2017 reboot as “Drake Mallard!17” and the Drake Mallard from the OG Darkwing Duck show as “Drake Mallard!91”.)
Ducktales 2017 for a long time was alluring to bringing Darkwing Duck into the universe of the show. Many fans didn't know how this was possible until a certain episode that was the rise of another superhero and Darkwing Duck’s long time rival: Gizmoduck (now voiced by the guy who wrote a Broadway musical that won many awards-- Bring It On the Musical. I’m kidding. Lin Manuel Miranda). In the episode ‘The BUDDY System’ we are shown what looks like a fight scene between Darkwing Duck and his villains, MegaVolt and QuackerJack. But then it’s abruptly cut when it’s revealed to be a video. An episode. Launchpad explains to Dewey (the blue duck nephew of Donald Duck) that Darkwing Duck is his favorite TV show’ meaning that Darkwing Duck is a TV show in the Ducktales 2017 universe. A show inside a show.
Weird, right?
But what does this have to do with being a superhero and a parent and how family humbles you? Well, in the OG Darkwing Duck show the character of Drake Mallard is shown to be a late-20s to early-40s nobody in his two-parter episode debut-- “Darkly Dawns the Duck”-- who spends his days locked inside an abandoned bridge tower and out fighting small-time crime at night as a purple masked weirdo. And I say this in the kindest way ever but Drake Mallard!91 is an asshole. It’s later revealed in the show that he wanted to be a superhero not because he wanted to protect the people in his city -- that is a parody of Batman’s Gotham -- but because he wanted the praise and attention of being a hero. He’s a hero for a selfish reason.
But how is it possible to have an asshole for a main character that lasted 91 episodes? Drake Mallard!91 has a child. It isn’t his biological daughter really but she is his daughter. In his two-parter episode his first real ‘save’ is the granddaughter of a scientist that was murdered by the mafia and now they are after the granddaughter because she has the code for a machine that they are going to use to rob banks and release mayhem across the world. Darkwing Duck!91 goes to save her and they start to have a bond that makes my daddy issues burst into tears.
Hiding her in his secret hide-out, she isn’t comfortable and Gosalyn needs to sleep so as a way to calm her down he sings her dead grandfather’s lullaby to her. I won’t reveal the rest of the episode or the “plot twist”(?) because I think it’s a cute episode. But here we see that Drake Mallard!91 does have the ability to care about others that isn’t himself or his reputation.
At the end of the episode, he goes out of his way to adopt Gosalyn and officially makes her his daughter. Throughout the series, you see that Drake Mallard!91 bonds with Gosalyn. Taking her to school, talking to her about emotional things, and doing everything in his power to protect her from the harm that comes with him being a superhero. But in one of my favorite episodes “Toys R Czar”, Drake Mallard!91 has come to the conclusion that he can’t both be a hero and great parent after one of Gosalyn’s teachers points out that she has been causing a lot of issues at school. He blames himself for not being a good parent, reading parenting books and following them to the letter. Cleaning, baking cookies and even being the director for a play where he made Gosalyn the star.
He gives up being Darkwing Duck. He gives up the one thing that he worked so hard and was so proud of. Drake Mallard!91 put his ego aside to be a good parent and was ready to throw away his cape and pick up an actual job to raise Gosalyn. He did the toughest thing about being a hero, a figure of salvation: having a family.
I think that the reason that I enjoyed the OG Darkwing Duck a lot despite me being a bitch to the pain character’s ego and pride was that yes, he would probably be a terrible parent but he has Gosalyn and Launchpad to guide him. He has them to ground him and not let his ego overrun him into believing he’s such a big-shot hero because he stops supervillains with only a gas gun, smoke bombs and a purple mask. His family makes him human-- despite him being a duck.
Now moving onto Ducktales 2017. In the episode ‘The BUDDY System’ when Launchpad is telling Dewey about Darkwing Duck being his favorite TV show and growing up on it he mentions an actor’s name: Jim Starling.
Jim Starling plays Darkwing Duck. Remember that.
(Fun Fact: the actor who voices the OG Darkwing Duck/Drake Mallard!91 does the voice of Jim Starling.)
In my favorite and comfort episode “The Duck Knight Rises” we are shown that Jim Starling has suffered the same fate of Bo Jack Horseman: a washed out actor from the 80s/90s that is living on the steam of his former success. Jim is no longer as popular as he was back in the day, making money off of signing autographs and openings of less-than-desirable stores. It isn’t until Dewey mentions the fact that there is a Darkwing Duck Movie ready to release that we see Jim Starling happy and ready to jump back into the role.
The Role of a Hero.
We discover that Scrooge McDuck is the one producing the movie and after watching the trailer both Launchpad and Jim Starling agree that this isn’t faithful to the character. Yet Jim doesn’t really care, he wants to be back into the light and have the attention and adoration of an actor. Of being a hero. How very of Drake Mallard!91 of him.
The director of the Duck Knight Rises movie tells Jim that he isn’t playing Darkwing Duck. A younger actor is. Outraged, he attacks the actor and is kicked out alongside Launchpad. Jim Starling believes that he is owed this role. That this role only belongs to him and no one else in the world. Roping Launchpad into his plan, here we see that Jim Starling never truly let go of his past when he slips on his old Darkwing Duck costume to play hero again.
It is Launchpad that begins to question him when Jim starts to ramble about revenge, Launchpad still looking at his old idol with nostalgia tinted glasses and goes along with the plan.
Here is where the analysis begins to pick up again. When LP sneaks into the actor’s trailer and immediately panics, locking himself, the Actor comes to his rescue. After some light fighting we see that the Actor is a big fan of the Darkwing Duck; possibly bigger than LP himself. LP does have a connection with the show but it seems that he Actor here takes it up more personally. That his whole ideologies and all of his morals came from a silly little show from his childhood and is the reason he is the way he is today. This whole movie is his big shot and a dream come true.
Immediately after this, we see Jim Starling running around and knocking people out. Actually hurting people just to get back into the role he’s clinging on to. Paralleling the Actor’s acceptance of the role and Jim ready to draw blood because he can’t let go.
Finally, we see the Actor and Jim Starling have a “sane” interaction. That it’s a huge honor to be here with him, says the Actor. That he wants to play the role of Darkwing Duck with Jim’s blessing. That they can do this together.
But Jim wants this for his own. All for himself.
After knocking the Actor out, we see a glimpse of how gone he is. How attention thirsty he is and that he will literally stop at nothing to get back on screen.
The whole climatic fight of the episode is the Actor putting on his new Darkwing Duck costume and heading off face first into danger to save people as Jim Starling just snaps. The new confronts the old. With the trademark, goofy Darkwing Duck openings of I am the terror that flaps in the night but more modern.
As they fight, it’s LP that finally gets to Jim with him telling him how much Darkwing Duck means to him and what it means to be a hero like him. As a power beam prop is ready to fall on top of LP, Jim does what a hero is supposed to do. Sacrifice. By pushing his biggest fan out of the way, he completes the role he has been yearning to play.
They don’t find the body. (Yes this is a kids show). But here is where we learn that the Actor’s name is Drake Mallard.
Drake Mallard!17.
Launchpad is the one that convinces Drake Mallard!17 to be the true Darkwing Duck. For Jim.
Jim Starling is what the OG Darkwing Duck was. Egotistical, wanting fame and attention, having all of the qualities that would make anyone doubt that he is truly a hero. The thing is that if Jim Starling only played Darkwing Duck, not Drake Mallard (because in this universe he is a real person), then it means that he didn’t have a Launchpad or a Gosalyn to ground him. Jim Starlings is what happens when a hero is isolated and is only a hero and not a person.
Drake Mallard!17 is a person who becomes a hero while Jim Starling is an actor who pretended to be a hero. Jim was stuck in his own vanity, not having anyone truly reminding him that he isn't’ the roles he plays; that he isn’t Darkwing Duck.
Drake Mallard is Darkwing Duck.

Whether you’re a Superman, a judge, a mom, or a dad, we can all appreciate the avant-garde genius of Laurie Anderson, the topic of this week’s installment of Great Albums! Find out what made Anderson’s breakout hit the most unlikely chart smash of the 80s, and what the rest of this amazing LP has in store, by watching my video or reading the full transcript below the break.
Welcome to Passionate Reply, and welcome to Great Albums! Today, I’ll be discussing one of the most unique and unforgettable albums around: Big Science, by Laurie Anderson. It’s very possible that you may not necessarily recognize her by name, but this album’s big hit has been riffed on and re-used many times throughout Western popular culture, so when I play it for you, it just might seem hauntingly familiar.
Music: “O Superman”
Put simply, “O Superman” is not your conventional pop hit, by any stretch of the imagination. It features little more than a sparse, barren electronic instrumental, and Anderson’s eerily vocoder-treated voice, not so much singing as acting out a one-woman stage play. It has much more in common with the avant-garde, minimalist works of 20th Century “modern classical” composers like Philip Glass and Steve Reich than it does anything you would hear on pop radio in the 1980s.
While you might assume that it entered mainstream consciousness through being used in some art film, it actually was a bona fide pop hit--particularly in Great Britain, which has always had a pronounced affinity for surprisingly weird chart entries. While the single was initially given only a small release, like most of Anderson’s earlier work, the prominent British radio DJ John Peel discovered it...and fell in love with it. And thanks to his frequent playing of it on the air, a lot of other people fell in love with it too, propelling it to #2 in the UK charts. I think it’s a testament to just how different the media landscape used to be, once upon a time in the 20th Century. Nowadays, the radio doesn’t really have room for idiosyncratic tastemakers like Peel, and the independent DJs who remain certainly don’t have the reach that Peel did. I suppose it’s the 20th Century version of sea shanties and other oddities becoming trends on social media.
But anyway, setting aside the strange legacy “O Superman” has as the world’s least likely hit single, we can appreciate it perfectly well as a moving work of art. “O Superman” is not really a pop song, but what it is is, perhaps, a desperate plea for comfort and protection. The figure, or concept, of “mother” seems to be the focus of the text, and serves as the apparent “final resort” of its insecure, searching rhetoric. We get this idea in a microcosm in the famous opening line, inspired by an aria by Jules Massenet: “O Superman, o judge, o Mom and Dad.” It’s an appeal to any and all higher powers, but culminates with perhaps the most primal, intuitive authority we can understand: our parents. Towards the end of the piece, the narrator begs to be held in the arms of “Mom,” but they’re described not as soft and warm, but “automatic,” “electronic,” and “petrochemical,” creating an uncanny conflation of innate human connections and the harshly artificial, technological conditions of modernity. Have we made the promises of technology and science into some sort of idol, looking to them for reassurance, and projecting onto them a goodwill or benevolence like a mother has for her children? Themes of high technology, as well as the search for safety and security, are found throughout the rest of the album, as is the stark, minimalist instrumentation.
Music: “From the Air”
Expanding somewhat on the references to aeroplanes found on “O Superman,” opening track “From the Air” is narrated by the captain of a doomed flight, instructing the passengers how to handle the imminent “crash landing.” It’s many people’s very worst nightmare, and plunges us straight into the sense of fearing for our lives, in a situation that’s completely beyond our control. A bold move for the very first track we hear! “From the Air” leads with somewhat plausible suggestions, like a very dated request that passengers “extinguish all cigarettes,” but gradually becomes increasingly surreal, adding to that nightmarish feeling. Anderson delivers her lines with a palpable sense of authority, that stirs you to want to obey her character even as they prove their unreliability. A taut, unresolved saxophone-driven ostinato throughout the track provides a constant sense of tension and anxiety, which certainly suits the mood. Until the end of the song, at which point it abruptly cuts off--presumably to represent the crash occurring, and the sudden deaths of those on board.
I like to think of “From the Air” as a sort of dark counterpart to “O Superman,” the latter of which is the opening track of the second side. While “O Superman” deifies technology as a source of maternalistic comfort, “From the Air” presents us with the ultimate failure of technology: slick and polished until the end, but unable to provide any real hope of meaningful security. That human desire for security is interrogated more directly on the final track of side one: “Born, Never Asked.”
Music: “Born, Never Asked”
While “Born, Never Asked” is much more laconic than tracks like “From the Air” and “O Superman,” it’s no less probing and thought-provoking, presenting us with a world of people who are, fundamentally, “free”--and yet deeply unsatisfied. “You were born,” quips Anderson, “and so you are free.” But we’re all too busy asking for a bigger answer, and some explicit, deeper meaning to our existences, that we can’t appreciate the simple freedom to live our lives however we want to, in the absence of any overt goals. The track begins by establishing a stately, handclap-driven backing, which serves to underscore the plainness or simplicity of its message, and is ultimately overtaken by a mournful violin outro--perhaps the embodiment of our emotional turmoil, as we seek the comfort of clear answers despite the fact that they never arrive. If only the world were as simple and well-defined as it seemed to be when we were children, filled with unthinking and unconditional love for our mothers!
“Born, Never Asked” asks us to question what it really means to be “free,” and whether or not it’s even satisfying or helpful to possess “freedom.” It’s worth noting that all of the pieces that comprise Big Science were chiefly intended as part of Anderson’s much longer magnum opus, entitled United States, which she completed in 1984. In that context, criticism of the value of “freedom” is perhaps also criticism of certain traditional American moral values. While “O Superman” prominently mentions “American planes,” I think the track that has the most to say about being American is the title track of the album.
Music: “Big Science”
The title track of Big Science takes us to a desolate and mostly empty landscape, defined more by its potential to be moulded into something habitable than anything it already, innately is. It’s a frigid perspective on America as terra nullius, a wasteland filled with nothing but ultra-recent and ultra-artificial capitalist “developments” as opposed to any real history or meaning. With its chilling coyote-like howls, and nods to Western movies and dependence upon cars, it can easily be contextualized as particularly American, but ultimately, the human drive to “improve” our environment through questionable (and perhaps even destructive) means is fairly universal. Much like the emotionally unsatisfying sense of freedom bestowed upon those who are born, in “Born, Never Asked,” the title track of Big Science shows us a world full of endless possibilities, but devoid of any true happiness born of those possibilities.
The term “big science” dates back to the Mid-20th Century, and has been used to describe the increasingly large scale of many significant scientific efforts, particularly those supported by world governments...and particularly, their militaries. During and after the Second World War, it became increasingly necessary for nations that wanted a place on the world stage to rope science into the military-industrial complex, especially in light of the development of atomic weaponry. Given the album’s thematic emphasis on the way we look to science and technology to provide some aegis of protection, and often in harmful or destructive ways, it’s a very fitting choice for the title.
I think that connection to the nuclear bomb is also an important key to interpreting the album’s cover art. On the cover of Big Science, we see Anderson lit very harshly from the right--so much so that her sunglasses are rendered completely white by the powerful light. While her pose is very deliberate, and perhaps even stilted, she appears to be raising her arms as though to shield herself from whatever is casting this bright light. Is Anderson perhaps portraying an atomic scientist, observing a nuclear blast with its signature burst of radiant light?
Overall, however we interpret this gesture, the black and white imagery and completely empty backdrop seem to pair well with that sparse and minimalistic instrumentation. Anderson appears on the cover with her signature costume, a solid white suit which, when paired with her short hairstyle, gives her a somewhat androgynous appearance. It also looks a bit like a labcoat, often worn by scientists and doctors--figures who culturally embody the principle of benevolent authorities backed by the power of technology and science.
Whenever artists who only briefly felt the spotlight of mainstream success are discussed, it can be tempting to ask whether or not such figures “deserved” more or better. In the case of Anderson, though, she never expected “O Superman” to become the breakout hit that it did, and never followed it up with anything actively pursuing the pop charts. In the wake of her most famous work, Anderson went right back to doing what she had been doing: making great, but totally avant-garde, art. She’s a figure of “art music,” and the “art world,” through and through, performing her elaborate multimedia works at museums, appearing in a number of festival-circuit art films, and accepting honourary degrees. Anderson has had a perfectly successful career, dwelling precisely in the realm of her choosing, and I don’t think there’s any better outcome than that. If you like Big Science, you’ll find plenty more striking and evocative works throughout the rest of her long and ongoing career.
Music: “Sharkey’s Day”
My favourite track on Big Science is “Sweaters.” With a Celtic-sounding melody, a grating fiddle, and perhaps the most vocally hated musical instrument of all time, the bagpipes, “Sweaters” is a dirge about an ancient subject: falling out of love. But despite its backward-looking folk setting, the jump from “I no longer love your eyes” to “I no longer love your sweaters” anchors it into the realm of the totally mundane...if not banal. Overall, though, what I think really makes it stand out on the album is its sense of levity. As I’ve discussed earlier, Big Science is loaded with really heavy themes about technology, Americana, and the meaning of life...so a song that’s not only about a romantic relationship, but also about sweaters, pens, and pencils, jammed into the middle of the first side, really feels like a sort of palate cleanser while you’re listening to this. That’s all for today--thanks for watching!

😨 LP to Drake
send me 😨 to see how your muse appears in my muse’s NIGHTMARES
There was no one he trusted more, no one he leaded on more, no one he need more than his side kick. Okay Launchpad was much more then just his sidekick of course, he was his best friends, is most trusted companion even. Launchpad was the one he first let know his civilian identity after all. Trusting someone again after so long?
it wasn’t easy. Yet no matter how awful Drake could be and in truth he had some bad moments not even always the greatest with his daughter. Launchpad though, never held those moments against him.
He was so forgiving that way. But surely even Launchpad would reach a limit right? Drake always tend to wonder and think as he got dressed for the day. He was Drake Mallard right now. Father and husband, leavening his room though he found him self walking through the tower his hideout was staged at. His sweater vest swapped out for his purple and blue costume. As he was walking down the stairs where he had the super computer set up. Looking over documents given to him from S.H.U.S.H. Eyes moving up from the paper.
“Would you just look at this,” but the pages changed turning into one of Goslyn’s recent test papers. “I knew that” he blinked noting he was back home after reaching the end of the stairs, that lead down the second story.
Not because everywhere was changing Drake hadn’t even noticed how he wore his two looks on top one another now. No it was seeing Launchpad all packed up ready to leave that took his attention away. He dropped the S.H.U.S.H papers and walked over to the large duck confused about what was going on. He swore he would have known if they were planning some trip or took on a flying job. Nothing he could think off when raking through his memory just now. “Uh h-hey big guy what’s with all the bags here?” he went and asked trying to hide any of the obvious worries that his mind was starting to bring forward.
Launchpad’s glace though was enough to make the small mallard flinch in response he had never know Launchpad to look at anyone like that, especially him. “Uh you um okay Launchpad? is something the matter?”
Launchpad just gave a heavy sigh, muttering that he thought he could leave with out any confrontation like this. Drake wasn’t following “are you leaving?” he went and asked it was obvious after all with all the bags he had packed up and throw over his shoulders and arms. He confirmed it shortly after.
Drake felt his body grow stiff the second the words left thier bill, even if he expected the answer he still wasn’t sure how to feel about it being the truth. After all Drake never really expected anyone to stick around for him, no one ever did. Becoming Darkwing he found people who would even if it was not much. Launchpad though he was one of the few he took both sides of him...so why were they going to leave. Was it because of Drake or was it Darkwing they had grown tried of? He shook his head and closed the space between them grabbing at the larger ducks arm, clinging to them with so much desperation. It was pitiful just like the mallard himself could be at times. “Y you can’t just up and leave like this..what about Gosyln? you can’t just leave like this on her” he excused as if she were the one who would take most issue with this all. Some hero using his our kid as a scape goat now.
Launchpad just shrugged him off though with out a seconds thought to the motion, reaching for one of the many duffels on the floor. To take up the space Drake was holding on to. Making a remark that he already gave her a good bye and now he had to go. That just gave him a lump in the throat as he scrambled back to his feet, dashing to the door, arms spread out to block the exit.
“Okay okay not just her would!” he admitted finally, Launchpad always heard him out even after bursts of anger they would so this shouldn’t be any different. “Look I know I don’t always treat you the best but I-I do appreciate having you around and I look to you a lot I know as well but I”
a slight shove and drake found himself pushed aside with out a care. Launchpad didn’t give much of a reason why he just, he just left. Didn’t matter who was standing in front of them neither was enough to keep them by his side anymore.

Manage to write this Ducktales fic for Halloween. Enjoy!
Title: Afterthought
Rating: G
Characters: Darkwing Duck and Launchpad
Summary: Drake is trying to make plans for Halloween, but doesn't realize how extensive Launchpad's are.
Archive of Our Own
--------------------------------------------------------
“Almost there...just a bit more,” Drake muttered as he carved off the last bit of pumpkin. He grinned as he stepped back to admire his work.
His Darkwing Duck jack-o-lantern. He had carved every detail of the eyes, the beak and that ever-so-confident smile.
“Almost perfect,” Drake said aloud as he reached into the trunk and carefully lifted out the items required. “Just need to put on the final touch and voila!”
The small hat, mask and cape fit the pumpkin perfectly!
Drake took a photo to share with the DWD Fanclub, reaching for his coffee as it uploaded. “Much better than all those Gizmoduck pumpkins, if I do say so myself.”
He took a sip, but spat it out moments later, coughing as he looked into the mug. Why had his drink betrayed him with its bitterness? The answer, naturally, laid in the abyssal darkness of the liquid before him.
“Ah,” Drake grumbled. “I always forget the milk.”
He muttered to himself as he went into his fridge and snagged the milk carton. As he added it to his coffee, he glanced to his calendar.
“Haven’t heard from LP for a couple of days,” he said aloud.
Launchpad had told Drake he was going to be busy with preparations and wouldn’t see him for a bit. That hadn’t bothered Drake since they had just spent a week marathoning the entire TV run of Darkwing Duck, trying out another fan's recommended watching order.
Besides, Drake knew some people took decorating for Halloween seriously, and LP did like committing whole-heartedly to things.  He was getting a bit of a foreboding feeling from the plans, though; from what Drake had seen of Launchpad's crayon blueprint scribblings, this was going to be on a whole new level.  And much as he didn't want to bother him, it had been close to a week since they'd spoken.
Maybe giving Launchpad a call would help - and if anyone could appreciate his masterpiece for Halloween, it would be his literal partner in fighting crime.  Drake reached for the cell phone and hit dial. He heard the beeping as he took another sip of his drink and swallowed it in time to hear his partner answer.
His ear was greeted by the loud whirring of a chainsaw.
Drake nearly dropped the phone until the roar stopped and he heard Launchpad’s voice. “Hey, DW!”
“Uh, hey, LP,” Drake answered as he lowered his cup. “You okay there?” He narrowed his eyes. “You didn’t crash into your toolshed while answering the phone again did you?”
There was a deep sigh. “I wish,” Launchpad replied. “Sorry, I was just finishing final preparations for..the night.”
Drake sipped his coffee again. “How is that going, anyway?  You've been keeping kinda quiet.”
Launchpad clicked his tongue. “Well, the inner barricade is pretty solid structurally.  I've got enough fuel to keep the burners going, but I think I need more metal sheets for the outer wall.”
Drake raised an eyebrow. Just how big was he planning to make this thing?  And - burners?
“Since I assume you’re staying put I figured I'd stop by your place once I was done patrol for the night,” Drake replied.
There was a gasp from the other end.  “YOU’RE PLANNING ON GOING OUT?!”
“Sure,” Drake said as he set down his mug, placing his  hand on his hip. “Crime doesn’t take a night off just because it’s a spooky night.  I mean, the new mayor is talking about having crime take a vacation, but that's just talk”
“Oh DW,” Launchpad said as it sounded like he was tearing up. “You’re the bravest hero I know.”
“Uh thanks,” Drake replied.
He was of course brave - braver than Gizmoduck at any rate, and there weren't any other heroes he knew of around - but the enthusiasm was welcome.  It was a bit much, though; Drake was just going to make certain no one tried to do any pranks on innocent victims or steal some kid’s candy. It wasn’t that huge of a deal.
“I can pick up a pizza and we can relax with a movie?” Drake continued.
“If we survive the night,” Launchpad replied in a dark tone.
“You...really get into the spirit,” Drake replied.
“What do you mean-” Launchpad started but then cut himself off. “Oh, wait, got to go. Delivery guy is here with the barbed wire. Got to go!”
Drake barely had time to say bye before he heard a click and put his phone away.
“I really don’t get the theme he’s going for but at least he’s dedicated,” Drake muttered.
-------------------------------------------------------
“You jerk! Give it back!” a kid dressed up as a cupcake yelled.
The Beagle Boy laughed as he began to rummage through the kid’s treat bag.  “Finders keepers squirt!”
“You didn’t find it, you stole it,” the kid dressed as a fire truck said as he tried to yank back the bag.
“Still found it, still mine,” the Beagle Boy replied as he shoved the kid back. “Now scram before I-”
“I AM THE TERROR THE FLAPS IN THE NIGHT!”
The Beagle Boy and his victims all froze as they looked around.
“I AM THE CANDY CORN THAT LIES AT THE BOTTOM OF THE BAG FOR MONTHS!”
“Blackarts?” the Beagle Boy said aloud. “That you?  If this is a prank-”
“I AM DARKWING DUCK!”
The Beagle Boy was greeted with a kick to the face. He grunted as he fell back and tossed the candy bag in the air. Darkwing flipped, caught the bag and tipped his hat at the Beagle Boy.
“If you want candy, you’ll have to go trick-or-treating like everyone else,” Darkwing Duck cried. He held up a fist. “So leave these kids alone or else.”
The Beagle Boy grunted and glared. “Or else what?”
Darkwing Duck grinned and brought his face closer. “You want to find out?”
The Beagle Boy sweated, trying to stand his ground, but then growled as he began to step backwards. “He didn’t have any good candy anyway.”  He grumbled under his breath.
The kids came closer as they watched the Beagle Boy retreat and then joyfully looked up to Darkwing.
“Thanks, mister,” said the cupcake kid.
“You are welcome,” Darkwing said triumphantly as he handed back the bag. “Anything to help a citizen.”
“You got a great costume too, but I thought it was supposed to be red,” said the fire truck kid.
Darkwing halted and forced a smile. “Um..this isn’t a costume. I am Darkwing Duck! Avenger of the weak and...what are you doing?”
Both kids reached into their bags and held out a piece of candy out for him.
“Here you go,” the cupcake kid replied. “Only fair you get candy too!”
Darkwing decided to let the correction go and took the candy. “Thanks, kiddos! Now you'd best get home before it gets too late.”
“Okay, we will,” said the fire truck kid as they waved and ran off.
Darkwing sighed as he unwrapped the candies and popped them into his mouth. “Fourth time tonight,” he muttered. “Oh well, at least they kind of appreciate me.”
Suddenly his phone rang. Darkwing reached for his phone and saw it was Launchpad’s number.
Didn’t think I was running that late, Darkwing replied as he answered. “LP?”
“IT’S A HOLIDAY!” Launchpad shouted so loud Darkwing had to pull the phone away from his ear. “IT’S JUST KIDS DRESSED UP IN COSTUMES! AND THEY GIVE OUT CANDY AND-”
“Whoa, whoa, LP slow down,” Darkwing replied. “What are you talking about?”
Launchpad quickly told him the summary of his night and with each passing word Darkwing could only blink dumbly.
“Let me get his straight,” Darkwing said as he found a bench to sit on. “You thought this whole night was cursed because you read an ‘ancient scroll’ which was actually a candy wrapper and that all the trick-or-treaters were demons.”
“Yeah, funny huh?” Launchpad said with a laugh.
Darkwing was flabbergasted. Then suddenly the conversations the past few weeks flew into his brain and they took on a different meaning.
“I really need to practice my detective skills.”
“Say again?” Launchpad asked.
Darkwing shook his head. “Nothing. My patrol’s almost done. Want me to stop by your place?”
“Sure! I’m just going to get this free candy from Mister McD, but I’ll meet you at my place.” Launchpad laughed. “Man, it’s a relief to know I don’t have to fight off eldritch horrors in October.”
Darking chuckled. “Yeah, I’ll bet-”
“Now I just have to worry about the flying archers in February,” Launchpad said darkly.
Darkwing went silent. “Come again?”
“It happens every winter.  Crimson streaks everywhere marking the resting places of the fallen, hunters around every corner seeking out new prey,” Launchpad continued. “I'm starting to suspect they're assassins - their targets marked with the design of the beating heart they seek to still.”
Darkwing clicked his tongue. “Launchpad, have you ever heard of a Valentine?”
“Valen-what?”
DW rubbed his forehead and made a note to have a long chat with him.

•drake definitely appreciates it, since he want Gosalyn to have the best experiences ever
• Della definitely saw he was a good fit for as a dad before adaptation went through
• Della reassures him when he feels hes not doing right because he already doing one thing right, he wants to be better for Gosalyn
• Drake has Dellas back on her parenting style often saying he wished his mom had been half as invested in his life as della is in her kids
• Della is amazed by how easily Drake understands LP at times
•Drake has almost outed him self a few times to Della by mistake
•Della eventually figures it out, she is able to see all the angels
•Pokes holes in a lot of his stories and lies, cause of course she gonna mess with him a bit first
•Darke ends up having to admit it after the kids get mixed up in some danger and they have to save them
•cause Della would question Drake not going to save his own kid
•they fight the whole time of course when leaveing to save the kids
• but then della admits she gets it but asks why the costume
•drake admits to Della it's how he gets the confidence todo so, hes not like her

Ducktober/Duckvember Day 12 - Fanfic scene
Hi! Temporarily skipping Day 11 because I feel more like writing than drawing atm, and I'm drawing a comic for Day 11 (so far I've drawn 1 page out of 3 woo) I interpreted the prompt literally, as you'll see :) I hope you'll enjoy! It was inspired by one of my favorite moments from "Friendship Hates Magic!"
------
Darkwing was tied on the torture chamber's table, metallic restrains making sure the slightest movement was impossible. No matter how hard the vigilante tried to break free, the restrains wouldn't budge, the cold metal digging further and further into his feathers.
"Hahaha, Darkwing Duck!" an evil voice boomed in the room. Darkwing tried to see where it was coming from, but the room was plunged in darkness, and he could only faintly make out a silhouette. "End of the line!" The mysterious person made his way towards our hero, who gasped in surprise. He had thought his worst enemy was dead, but had apparently been wrong, for Evil Darkwing Duck was now standing in front of him. "Evil Darkwing Duck!" Darkwing Duck spat, not losing his cool even though he was in such a dire situation. "I should have known it was you. This case had your foul smell all over it!" "Ohoho, then it looks like I outsmarted you, dear brother!" "You're no relative of mine!" "Hahaha, why won't you admit the truth, my dear twin?" Darkwing Duck struggled once more against his bonds, the brave hero fighting against the immovable restraints with all his might. Meanwhile, Evil Darkwing Duck grabbed a chainsaw. It seemed that everything was lost, but then! "Stop right there, villain!" Someone jumped through the window, facing Evil Darkwing Duck. He was wearing a bomber jacket and an aviator helmet, and was also proudly wearing a Darkwing Duck pin on his scarf- it was none other than Darkwing's very own sidekick, Launchpad McQuack!
"Interesting way to introduce this character." Mrs Beakley approved with a nod. "A dynamic entrance usually makes for a memorable first scene."
Launchpad smiled with a childlike glee, delighted to see how much the housekeeper seemed to enjoy his Darkwing Duck fanfiction. He hadn't shown it to anyone else; he did have an account on a popular fanfiction website, but Launchpad mainly used the site to read other people's stories and had only posted a few one-shots there, none involving his self-insert. He knew self-inserts were generally frowned upon, so he kept this particular fic to himself, simply enjoying how happy it made him to work on it. Mrs Beakley didn't seem to be disturbed by said self-insert, though, which was a good thing. He had only given her his private Darkwing Duck fanfiction because he had been swept by the moment, by how joyous he had been to finally be able to find someone in real life who was as much into the masked vigilante as he was, that Launchpad hadn't really thought about it when he had handed her the thick notebook that meant so much to him.
Besides, he had no idea about Bentina's stance on shipping, and didn't want to introduce her to his more romantic stories before knowing if she liked Quackervolt - Launchpad was pretty open-minded when it came to shipping, but he didn't know if that was the housekeeper's case.
"Soooo... you like it?" the large duck grinned when Mrs Beakley delicately turned another page. "If I like it? Oh, Launchpad, I adore it!" Bentina returned his smile, her eyes leaving the notebook to find her new friend's. "You really have a knack for writing. It's too bad the show's over, I'm sure you could have submitted that script to them!" "Oh gee, that means a lot!"
Scrooge's driver blushed, nervously rubbing the back of his head. Darkwing Duck was everything to him; it had been a constant in his life, something that had always managed to lift his spirits when he was feeling down. Which was why if someone as cultivated and stern as Bentina Beakley deemed his work worthy enough to be turned into an actual episode, it made Launchpad's chest puff with pride.
"Is that all there is?" Mrs Beakley asked, sounding disappointed, when she reached the last page covered in the pilot's messy handwriting. "Or is the rest in another notebook?" "Nope, it's all there. I uh, I have lots of other ideas but I just haven't had time lately to put them on paper, what with all the adventurin' Mr McD had us doing. Not that it's a bad thing!" Launchpad was quick to correct himself. "Oh, don't worry, I see what you mean." Bentina nodded in understanding, carefully putting the notebook on the coffee table near the couch. "But if you do get around to writing a sequel, or perhaps several sequels, make sure to lend them to me!"
Mrs Beakley concluded by wrapping her arm around Launchpad's shoulders in an affectionate gesture, one the pilot was eager to return, almost throwing himself at the housekeeper. He loved physical contact, whether it be ruffling Dewey's feathers or holding Webby's hand when she invited him to tea parties in her room, or even hugging Louie that one time he had found him crying in the kitchen after a nightmare. It was just in Launchpad's nature to enjoy feeling the presence of people he liked, to convey how much he appreciated them by the slightest brush of a feather against a feather.
He was especially happy to be hugging Bentina now: unlike him, she was seldom seen giving physical gestures of affection, except to her beloved grand-daughter. Of course, Mrs Beakley had a heart of gold and was fiercely protective of the McDuck Manor's inhabitants; but she had vastly different ways to show her affection. It was embedded in the way she made sure Donald's room was always ready if the sailor was to suddenly want to sleep closer to his nephews, it was etched in the comfortable silence she offered Scrooge when his rants about mundane issues slowly turned into far more personal confidences. It was something delicate, woven into her attitude and acts so smoothly that you barely noticed it, the polar opposite of Launchpad's loud and bright shows of affection.
When Launchpad offered her a tight hug, Mrs Beakley couldn't help but smile; even though Scrooge's driver sometimes annoyed her or made a mess in a room she'd just cleaned, she couldn't stay mad at him for long. Launchpad never did anything maliciously - he was always true to himself, and honest in every sense of the word. The only thing she regretted was to not have taken the time to know him better before today, although she promised herself to spend more time with the pilot from now on.
“You know what, Launchpad?” the older duck asked, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes when her colleague finally let go. “We should film this. Right now.” “Really?!” the pilot exclaimed giddily. “Oh, this is gonna be awesome! Wait right here, let me get my DW costume and my camera!” “You have a costume?” the housekeeper inquired, curious. “Oh, yeah, wait- there it is!” Launchpad proudly exclaimed, taking a hat, a mask and a cape out of his closet. “Haven’t made the suit yet, but that’s already good!” “Did you sew this?” Bentina asked, getting up to see the costume up close. It was definitely handmade, but it was crafted expertly, and the seams were almost invisible. She couldn’t help but be surprised: she had seen the pilot be very clumsy, she had seen him crash planes and cars and even a lawnmower once, so she couldn’t have imagined Launchpad was that good at something that required patience and precision like sewing. “Sure did.” Launchpad beamed, flattered by the way the housekeeper admired his work. “They don’t do adult sizes, so I had to. You wanna try it on?” “Really? May I?” “Of course, I’m sure you’ll be an awesome Darkwing! And I’ll be a great Launchpad! Come on, lady, let’s get dangerous!”
--------
Dont hesitate to hmu on twitter @sarahnitr0 !
The sub plot with Launchpad and Beakley becoming friends was so good!! They're really good, they contrast each other and can learn a lot from the other. And seeing Mrs Beakley loving LP's script and be so excited to film his self insert fic was amazing so I wanted to do something with that :D Also it was my first time writing Beakley, I love her so I hope I did her justice :v
Side note LP is the kind of guy to leave lengthy reviews on every fic he likes lets all agree here (Also he ships himself with DW obviously >w<)

Festival Review: Bring The Horizon @ All Points East
Tumblr media
Artist: Bring Me The Horizon
Festival:  All Points East, Victoria Park, London, UK
Date: 31st May 2019
Rating: 9.0/10
It’s quite the journey Bring Me The Horizon have been on, from polarizing metalcore scamps – the band everyone loved to hate - to genre-defying, globe-trotting behemoths. Over the past 15 years BMTH have had their fair share of slings and arrows to dodge, from battling addiction, band members coming and going, and the early years of being chastised for their scenester stylings. However, steadily the Sheffield unit have been evolving, starting with their own brand of deathcore and then manoeuvring through twisted metal bombast that married the brutality of their earlier work but with a wider appeal that snared in fans far and wide. Then there’s 2019’s divisive LP ‘amo’; the record where the Steel-City outfit ripped up their own rulebook to deliver a record that flirts with pop, like no other heavy band has done before. Say what you want but BMTH have had the guts and the balls to follow their own path, and that path has led them to their first ever festival headline slot at London’s All Points East in Victoria Park.
Not only were Bring Me The Horizon granted the coveted top slot by a festival only in its second year (headliners across the other nights will include The Strokes, Bon Iver, Mumford and Sons, Chemical Brothers and Christine and The Queens – not bad company hey?!), but they were given free reign to curate the burgeoning roster of acts throughout the day. Given ‘amo’s diverse sonic palette, All Points East’s BMTH Friday boasted acts from all manner of genres, whilst championing a whole host of up and coming acts; there’s Scarlxrd’s twisted noise rap, Employed to Serve’s punishing metalcore, Heavy Lung’s gnarled post-punk, the weird burbled pop of Happyalone, rabble-rouser punks Crows, noise-pop siren Alice Glass and a shitload more. Not to forget their roots, BMTH also roped in Architects and While She Sleeps, as a nice nod to their metal brethren.
Before BMTH charged through their mammoth 2-hour set, there were two standout performances that we can’t leave out of this review. Firstly, Idles, a band so important right now it hurts, this is a group that uses caustic punk as a weapon, but their uncompromising racket is chockfull of cathartic positivity or to quote their sophomore album title, ‘Joy As An Act of Resistance’. With the ever-commanding frontman Joe Talbot playing the part of consummate ringleader to his group’s wanton chaos, the Bristol transplant’s main stage performance typified why Idles are one of the UK’s most celebrated bands. With the likes of ‘Never Fight a Man With a Perm’, ‘Mother’ and ‘Samaritans’ being played with every ounce of sinew and grit, it would come as no surprise that Idles had recruited another few members to their AF Gang fan group. The other act to sufficiently warm up the APE crowd was Run The Jewels; entering the stage to a sea of pistol and fist hand signs, EL-P and Killer Mike took no time to fire out a bevy of bouncing rap bangers. With the pair trading verses and a bowel loosening bass line quaking the floor underneath the packed crowd, the duo’s second-to-the-headliners set was a masterclass in whipping up a hip-hop storm. The level of devotion was mirrored between act and audience, as APE bellowed, on several occasions, the chant of “RTJ! RTJ! RTJ!” and this signal of love wasn’t ignored by Run The Jewels themselves, who often gushed about the great London crowd they were performing in front of. When you’ve got cast-iron party starters like ‘Oh My Darling Don’t Cry’, ‘Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)’, and ‘Legend Has It’ in the locker, it’s no wonder RTJ ran through APE like they owned the joint. Like Idles before, Run The Jewels projected a message of love and positivity, whilst calling out bullshit toxic masculinity.
After being suitably warmed up by a day’s worth of killer music, Bring Me The Horizon had the crowd primed like a champagne cork ready to pop. Sauntering onto the main stage dressed in a red suit, with sewn on patches resembling crazed newspaper clips on his back, Oli Sykes looks very much the deranged cult leader, as the rest of BMTH take up the stage behind him in matching boiler suits. As ‘MANTRA’ opened up proceedings, it’s evident this isn’t going to be a normal headlining slot; we’re greeted to an audio-visual spectacular of synchronised dancers, flames, ticker tape, smoke jets and day-glo video screens that project abstract image after abstract image. With BMTH’s drastic swerve of a recent album, it was always going to be intriguing how the newer material would fit in with the band’s heavier tracks. The truth is, the set-list slotted together like a perfect jigsaw puzzle; the five piece easily deployed the anthemic metal of ‘Shadow Moses’, next to the synth-dance thumper of ‘Nihilist Blues’ (sadly without Grimes making a surprise appearance), then there’s the pop-rock of ‘Mother Tongue’ being followed by the antagonist assault of ‘Antivist’.
The band’s top slot at All Point East was less of a gig, but more of a celebration; the feeling in the crowd is one of jubilation, with nearly every song instigating sing-alongs and wide spread adulation. Then there’s the circle pits…oh the circle pits! Every bit the master of mischief Sykes will goad the crowd on several occasions to go harder, to go faster, to create the biggest spinning vortex of human limbs possible. To fit in with the celebratory vibes, BMTH were joined by several guest vocalists; Dani Filth takes up his vocal duties on ‘Wonderful Life’, ‘The Sadness Will Never End’ is played for the first time since 2016 with Sam Carter from Architects sharing vocals with Sykes and then Lotus Eater’s Jamie McLees lent his visceral growl to ‘Antivist’. When not ushering in their mates to help on tracks BMTH offer up different takes on their back catalogue; ‘Sleepwalking’ is stripped back to an acoustic rendition, while ‘It Never Ends’ is given an orchestral overhaul, as a string sextet joined the band for a touch of sophistication at a rock show.
Not to miss a trick when it comes to a massive headline show, the band will have three costume changes (THREE! Alright Mariah Careys!!), whilst continuing the ample helping of pyro and hypnotic visuals. They’ll also wheel out old classics like the disgustingly brutal ‘Pray for Plagues’ and ‘Diamonds Aren’t Forever’s abrasive assault. What’s wonderful about BMTH’s APE show, is that through all the bells and whistles of playing a huge festival slot, they still created moments of raw intimacy. There’s more than one occasion where Sykes will take up a spot on the stage’s extended ego ramp into the crowd, cross-legged, to recount a story of overcoming addiction or to offer up appreciation for the numerous years of support the band have had from their dedicated fanbase. The band’s formidable frontman will be brought to tears during the singalong for ‘Sleepwalking’, which typifies the amount of emotion on display on APE’s main-stage.
All Points East offered up a perfect day of diverse music and a feeling of love and unity; all brought together by Bring Me The Horizon’s stellar headlining set.

The highest Jackson Five Album Masks
Tumblr media
One of the issues that I miss in regards to the "old school" days associated with Soft albums are typically the album handles.
album cover creator
Oh, anyone still have cool art and interesting designs, nevertheless, you no longer have which large 12 inch and also handle that could assist as a mini-poster regarding your favorite artist. ?t had been even more of some sort of treat as soon as the artist generated a dual album, since you would after that possess four sides of canopy job.
album cover creator
Now I admit that must be great not having in order to allocate large amounts involving space to be able to housing a good album assortment. But, My spouse and i tend to feel with regards to photos like I experience about developing a library connected with books. There is certainly something that will seems right in relation to shopping at a bookshelf as well as seeing those books arranged on the shelf, simply like there was something felt good about experiencing your array of collections prearranged nice and b, or even tossed regarding.
Ultimately, I guess you may argue that it's genuinely about the tunes, and also being able to hear to what you wish to easily and proficiently, and often the current formats surely offer on that.
U no longer suppose too many men and women ordered albums just structured on the deal with... until it was some associated with those Kansas Players lps covers (you can find that away for yourself).
My favorite team and then and now is Typically the Knutson Five / Often the Jacksons. When I had been growing up, many of us don't have much dollars, along with early on, the merely documents I was ready to get came via the spine of cereal packing containers. And so there weren't just about any posters and prints around either. Along with when you actually did obtain your hands on a great cd, you were very excited. Arrive at think regarding it, those cereal field records did have got a image on them.
The initial Fitzgibbons Five album which often I truly owned has been "Dancing Machine". I dealt some comic book heroes with a new friend of mine for you to get the lp. At this point the cover now experienced been roughed up the bit plus the album got 1 or 2 chafes (for those of a person that have by no means employed a vinyl record, in the event that an album has any damage it causes the actual music being interrupted, sometimes repeating on its own, or pouncing the groove and transferring to the next part of the song and normally changing the fidelity involving the music), but in which became the most popular album. Involving course it was likewise my only album, however why quibble.
As My partner and i acquired a little old, and been able to have some sort of few bucks during my pants pocket, I set about acquiring the albums that We am not able to buy when I actually was youthful. I put in plenty of time investigating what they used to help call the particular "cut-out racks/bins" (this ended up being where more mature albums were being placed in addition to a notch seemed to be bodily cut-out on the recording cover - marking this damaged/non-returnable and enabling typically the retailer to sell with a diminished price). My spouse and i also found much of the cds at second-hand or maybe re-sale stores. Eventually, My partner and i succeeded to gather nearly almost all of early albums this I had have missed.
This favorite Jackson album addresses? Well, thanks for questioning -- they are often the following:
#1 Probably Another day -
It's a twice album cover, although this wasn't a double cd. The actual boys are within a garden/park setting using lots of green qualifications. Michael, Jackie and Perico are on the front side cover as well as Jermaine and also Marlon have the back again cover, it's a extensive shot so to view just about all five you start the actual cover to watch the front along with backside together. The inside include possesses another wide photo from the boys and a new few smaller pictures.
#2 ABC -
I think that really cool to have got these people around the huge letters of just one of their very own signature tunes about the protect, and the back handle collage used a good deal of photographs of these individuals appearing in everyday activity adjustments, playing ball, merely suspending out, totally cool.
#3 Greatest Hits -
Of your iconic photo for us in the early 70's Knutson A few
#4 Going Again To Indianapolis -
This kind of was from the TELEVISION SET special... need I claim far more?
#5 Skywriter :
Absolutely cool seeing all of them inside old-time flight accommodates while using aviator goggles.
#6 Straighteners -
Double lp deal with, artist rendition upon the include, wide chance of the party in the inside.
#7 Receive It Together rapid
We never managed to acquire this hands on this kind of one. The original protect had a cut out there on the letters GIT by way of which you may see the particular picture beneath the idea, the item was a cover in a handle. The guys were from the yellow in addition to red fancy dress costumes. I feel later versions with the record just used the GIT letters on the deal with with out showing the photo underneath.
#8 Triumph instructions
I appreciated this include because it was obviously a small group shot, scalp as well as shoulders of the bros done in grey hue, almost what they does on Third Cd, yet it reminded me connected with that.
And once you tape away all of typically the amazing sounds and nice sounds, it's important which there's still the tune there. A track that will can be sang, and also phrases with meaning.

Tumblr media
Appreciate...

How in Add’s new costume...
Tumblr media
THE DYNAMOS ARE SIGNED WITH AN “E” INSTEAD OF AN “A”?!
So.... now we got 2 options here...
1) The Dynamos are signed with an E because of Eve (I don’t really think so but yeah, can be points to Add x Eve ship)
2) HE IS COMFORTABLE WITH HIS NAME!
Look... we all know Add wants to go back to the past or forget his past (LP-DBr) but if he signed his Dynamos with his initial letter that means he is comfortable with his name and Add is just his nickname (yes i read the Weebtoon but still) and he isn’t against his name at all.
Plz don’t mind me at all, i just wanted to ramble about that ^^;;

ALPHA KOMBAT - Global Blockchain Tournament Game With NFT Rewards
Tumblr media
Overview
GameFi is one of the hottest new trends to emerge from the crypto industry, combining decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) with blockchain-based online games.
Unlike many traditional online games, which operate on a “pay-to-win” model and allow players to purchase upgrades in order to gain an advantage over others, GameFi introduces a “play-to-earn” model.
This concept involves giving players financial incentives to play and progress through games.
In some cases, this has allowed gamers to earn a full-time income by doing so.
All objects in these types of games are expressed as NFTs – digital tokens used to prove ownership of scarce intangible items.
Think of things like plots of land, avatars, costumes, weapons, and gold bars.
Once players find and accrue these items through gameplay, many have the option to trade these with others in digital marketplaces for different NFTs or sell them in exchange for cryptocurrency.
For players looking to get involved in these blockchain-based games and start earning cryptocurrency and NFTs, here is another potential project is ALPHA KOMBAT
What is Alpha Kombat?
Alpha Kombat is a global blockchain tournament game featuring NFTs awards, as well as a platform designed to encourage leisure while also providing passive revenue through a variety of token and platform utilities.
The goal of Alpha Kombat is to honor blockchain and cryptocurrency adoption pioneers and leaders by celebrating, appreciating, and recognizing them.
The NTS awarded during competitions will be named after blockchain and cryptocurrency legends such as Satoshi Nakamoto.
Vitalk Buterin, as well as a slew of other well-known and up-and-coming artists.
The initiative is designed to honor and recognize famous figures such as Satoshi Nakamoto, Vitalik Buterin, and Elon Musk, who have made significant contributions to the development of cryptocurrency.
Tumblr media
Alpha Kombat Features
Dual player gaming console - two players can compete from different locations.
Betting platform: Other users can bet on ongoing games they find on the platform.
Staking and LP mining.
NFT minting with a pegged market value. Gaming merchandise eCommerce platform
Developer console and publishing platform.acters etc
Why Alpha Kombat?
Alpha Kombat is a solution to many problems which the gaming cryptoverse is facing now.
Lack Of User Incentives - The gaming ecosystem is full of fantastic products that everyone can play for free, thanks to the increased popularity of excellent free-to-play titles.
The idea that any user would be willing to learn about blockchain, set up a wallet, and buy cryptocurrency before even playing a game is ridiculous.
In order to entice players to join a new platform, great incentives are required that make the gamer feel like he is being properly compensated for his time spent.
The initiative accomplishes this by purchasing NFTS from game-winners, making the NFTs valuable immediately after minting.
Scalable DeFi and NFT Solution - The potential for expansion is huge, with less than 10 billion dollars currently locked in Defi markets and the traditional gaming sector making over 150 billion dollars annually.
The existing DeFi and NFT modes, on the other hand, are unable to withstand much more than the current load.
and new solutions must be explored in order to give a user-friendly platform from which they may benefit.
Private and institutional investors have recently made announcements that have drawn the attention of the corporate world to the cryptocurrency field, and it is not for the sake of amusement.
With the average platform collecting between 10% and 30% of all gross income, the majority of developers’ profitability can be severely harmed.
Game Platform with High Fees - The strength of the indie game scene continues to rise.
A game platform that allows developers to simply distribute their games with the least amount of effort and without charging exorbitant costs is desperately needed.
The main goal of establishing the platform is to successfully attract developers and provide them with the resources they need to implement their own game chain and, in turn, motivate their customers.
Binance Smart Chain was chosen to address the issue of excessive fees, and we expect to construct and launch a native chain soon.
Ideology - Driven by the Power of Great Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Icons, as well as existing Games, ALKOM, and NFTS Stake will be earned, and all gaming platform assets will be collateralized.
While many people are aware of Non-Fungible Tokens’ potential, they have yet to fully disrupt the Ethereum network.
Due to high gas prices and a few technical restrictions, they are unable to fulfill their full potential.
The first step toward making NFTS a truly essential part of the DeFi economy is to ensure that they can generate income for their holders and be converted or sold at market value.
The product is launched with the competitiveness of the market in mind.
The product is being released with market competition in mind, while also providing entertainment, passive income, and relaxation.
As the project prepares to launch, Alpha Kombat aims to achieve all of these goals on the Binance Smart Chain.
Tumblr media
Tokenomics
ALKOM is the native token of the Alpha Kombat ecosystem used as a fee and commission on the platform.
ALKOM will be used to buy armor, health, points, new character unlocks.
Betting on games on the current platform and playing certain levels of competition or higher prizes will require the purchase of tokens to unlock the feature.
Utility of Tokens
. ALKOM will be used for fees and commissions on the platform.
. ALKOM will be used to buy weapons, health, points, unlock new characters, NFT, and ALKOM token tournament.
. Betting on games on the platform and playing certain levels of competition for higher rewards will require purchase
tokens to unlock the feature.

Journal time:
More hard work: got gas with dad, had to deal with a huge and sudden wasp nest under a gas cap, garbage, dog feeding, the usual.
I reckon today I had a bit of a relapse with my feelings over the mom incident back in may. I can't say there's ever a day that goes by where I don't think about it at least once, but I was at least at a point where I didn't bring it up. Last night I had a nightmare about it all again and... yeah. So many posts today just kept bringing it up too. I still have a lot of bottled in aggression about it all. I even find myself checking my blocked messages and calls from her, but there's never any there. It almost upsets me, but what can i do? I made my offers to her and she refused em. All that's left to do is distract myself from the thoughts.
So I got a bit of recording in SAO FB done. I'm a bit disappointed that the next full DLC isnt out yet, but there's some neat costumes to work towards I guess. That and I'm almost done leveling all of the affections for story related characters to max. That means that soon I'll be able to A. Resume normal gameplay, B. Give more side story stuff, C. Make preparations for editing the weird shit into the inevitable fanservice episode so it doesn't tear its ugly head in the rest of the playthrough, and D. Get all three endings. Then I can put the game down until Betrayal of Comrades and add more to it with Ten.
I got a bit bored and paranoid that I maybe didn't meet the 10 card swipes required to avoid my banking fee, so I went to town for a bit to kinda splurge. I was actually able to get Dairy Queen for once without it being crowded! Btw, I don't go for the ice cream. I go for the Flamethrower burger. It's the burger that made me appreciate vegetables on my burgers! And it's good and SPICY!
While there, a family of three sat near me and when my food arrived, the dad smells it in the air and asks what I ordered. I tell him politely.
"Smells good and spicy! I'll give you $2 for a bit!"
So I tear off a small bit and let him have some and I get the money. Bites into it and immediately spits it out and drinks his coke almost angrily
"THAT AINT SPICY THATS ACID SON"
The wife just mouths "I'm so sorry" and his little boy is just losing it. When we're all leaving the boy said I was cool and gave five, and his dad is just "Ju-Just come on, son!"
I dethroned a king in the Dairy Queen tonight. I don't know what he was sovereign of, but I did it.
After that I went to walmart to look around. I saw an old friend i knew in elementary but uhhh i nervously had to go. I wasn't prepared for conversation and I looked like shit so I quickly ended the convo. I did explore a bit and found that they're selling good transformers again, lol. Not nearly as good as the Armada/Energon days but eh, better that the whole press this button to transform thing they were trying to advertise. I also found a 77 cent 2 liter coke (later revealed to be 66 cents) and found Valkyria Chronicles for PS4 for 10 bucks in the clearance aisle. It's got good reviews so I bought it and I'm doing an an LP now.
So it's basically Historical Fiction AU so to speak. Kinda combine the aesthetics from FMA and something like Howl's moving castle and throw in a notch down from the war terrors of children of the whales with more realism, and you get the setting. Basically a tiny neutral european not European nation has to defend against a nation after their shot. Gameplay is a tactical shooter in which you select characters on a map and take direct control with a sort of metered hybrid turn based shooter. It's a lot less complicated than it sounds.
My favorite character is NOT either of the main or side characters but the bland Town Watchman they assign as your third party member for jo other reason than he's just there, he's great at shooting and blocking bullets with his face, and he's just awesome. I hope I can keep him.
Positives:
Life: good food, drink, and a game for around $18 all together. Not bad.
General: games are a great escape from reality.

Noiseworthy: Here’s Why Rare Americans Are Your Next Alternative Obsession
Tumblr media
As much as you think it might be an easy task, it’s not always that simple to showcase new, up-and-coming artists. Usually when it comes to these sorts of things, if you aren’t familiar with the band’s name, what’s going to make you click our story versus the 231 Best At-Home Get Rich Quick Tips? Yeah, not always that simple.
However, putting all doubts aside, we’re going to keep highlighting emerging bands we believe in. Bands that stand out against the tiring monotony of our music scene. You know, bands like Vancouver risk-takers Rare Americans.
Blending alt-rock, hip-hop and ska like some zany Twenty One Pilots, grandson and Streetlight Manifesto science experiment, James Priestner and Lubo Ivan (along with Jan Cajka and Duran Ritz) have concocted something uniquely their own with Rare Americans.
With infectious, mind-bending tracks like “Brittle Bones Nicky,” “Cats, Dogs & Rats” and “9 Times Out Of Ten,” the crafty Canadian crew is a refreshing addition to the sometimes-stale alternative genre.
Now, in order to get to know a little more about the promising performers, we reached out to Priestner to hear all about his musical influences, dreams and aspiring hockey career. To check out our chat and discover your newest obsession, be sure to look below. Afterward, for more from Rare Americans, like their forthcoming LP Rare Americans 2, head here.

Where did you grow up? And was there a music scene where you grew up? James Priestner: I grew up in Edmonton, AB, Canada. It’s a city of one million people so we had all the major acts come through, plus a ton of mid-tier bands playing in the 500-1000 seat venue range. I have to say since moving to Vancouver, I realize there is a lot more of a “scene” here than in Edmonton though. I notice more musicians, more artists, filmmakers, managers, labels, more venues to play at, and more shows. I notice lots of US based mid-tier artists will only play major markets in Canada and Vancouver is one of them. What were you and/or your bandmates doing before your band formed? Jobs? School? I was an athlete. I was a goalie in the Western Hockey League, a developmental league that the NHL drafts from.

Who or what influenced you to start playing music? While playing in the WHL I had a lot of free time when I wasn’t at the rink. We had a 10pm curfew every night so after practice I would go home and try to be creative. When I was 17 I bought a guitar, took some lessons, and very quickly wrote a song. From there it was all over for me, I knew this was what I wanted to do. I had a lesson once a week, and I tried to bring a new song to my guitar teacher each lesson. 10 years later and I’m still doing it!! If you could collaborate with any artist of your choice who would it be? I would love to work with Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys. He’s an all-time favorite of mine. I think his voice is super captivating from the New York crooner type of vibe to his soft airy-tone, and his more punk rock side. I also love his lyrical wit and musicality. What’s the best live performance you’ve ever seen? I really liked Oliver Tree at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver. I was just getting into him at the time and his show really sold me. He uses a lot of animation on stage which is something we do as well, and the costume changes, theatrics, and just his overall confidence and energy was really inspiring.

Are there any recent releases or performances that have inspired you? I went to so many shows last year to take inspiration for Rare Americans. Super sad about the demise of the live industry with COVID, really makes me appreciate live music. As I mentioned, Oliver Tree’s show, Arctic Monkeys' show after they released Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino was fantastic as well. I’m late to the game on this one, but I also got into J. Cole this year who I really have come to love. If you could have one of your songs be on a TV show or movie of your choice what would it be? The Wire!! One of my all time favorite shows. Unfortunately they aren’t making any new seasons, but if we could go back in time... Three bands or artists that would be your dream to tour with? Gorillaz, Twenty One Pilots, Oliver Tree. What would you like to be remembered for? Musically or not. Deep question. I would say I want to be remembered as someone who really gave my all. Someone who tried to inspire those around me to believe in themselves that they can accomplish what they never dreamed they could. I love talking to fans that have wild dreams but no belief, and trying to inspire them to change that, to work towards their goals.

Best piece of advice anyone has given you? You have two ears and one mouth. Listen and try to put yourself in someone else's shoes before assuming you know what they are thinking or going through. What have you learned since being in the music industry? The more I know, the more I don’t know!! It’s like a spider web. You never know what's going to hit at any time. I also don’t think you can ever know what fans are going to resonate with. The minute you say “this is going to be a hit” it probably won’t be and that song you were thinking of not including on your album might be the one people like the most. I also realized the music industry, especially for a DIY band, is so much more than just making music. You have to be a high-level marketer and entertainer to make it in this industry. Artists are characters, fans are buying into their entire worlds, their artwork, their brand, their message, not just their song. The best thing currently on the internet is? The ability for anyone to make a career. The fact that one of the top Youtube earners in the world is a 9 year old who unboxes toys is wildly fascinating. I think it’s pretty cool that the internet provides this ecosystem for people to make content, be themselves, develop followings, and ultimately make a living from doing what they love.

In which Bowie starts the new decade with a bang... What I love most about this album is it’s opening. I think it’s the best opening of any Bowie album, not just the stutteringly brilliant fury of the Japanese vocals (courtesy of actress Hisahi Miura) of It’s No Game (Pt. 1) but the tape recorder clicking into place – you hear it spooling out at the end, after Pt 2. It’s a lovely touch, courtesy of Bowie’s most celebrated producer Tony Visconti. This track sets the distinctive tone of this album. In which appears the best ‘beep beep’ in a song since The Beatles’ Drive My Car (in Fashion)... I remember when I first listened to this LP being fascinated with its longest track, Teenage Wildlife, trying to work out if the guitar chords were the same as those for Heroes. They’re not, just similar, and Robert Fripp doing his Frippy guitar thing. This album is so self-referential it sounds like a deliberate break from the past, whilst reflecting it back in one of those distorted funfair mirrors. Aside from all the Space Oddity Major Tom references in Ashes to Ashes, the album sleeve itself includes collaged images from Low, Heroes, Lodger and Aladdin Sane. In which Bowie perfects raw, modern pop: vocals as full-on mock-cockney Bromley Punk... It’s hard not to hear Ashes to Ashes without thinking of Bowie prancing about in his Pierrot costume, but if one just focuses on the music alone, you appreciate just how extraordinary it is. That high slapped bass, the staccato percussion, the vocal lines entirely off kilter with the music, the lyrics themselves – it is utterly a work of genius and the gateway, I’d suggest, to his post-Berlin new experimentation phase at the start of the 80s. It’s not surprising critics were so disappointed that what followed was so commercial (Let’s Dance), and then so dismal (Tonight). In which appears etched on my vinyl copy runoff the words: “I CAN’T THINK / OF ANYTHING” EXTRACT FROM LONGER REVIEW - CLICK LINK IN BIO #davidbowie @davidbowie #scarymonstersandsupercreeps #ashestoashes #vinyl #nowlistening #recordcollection #randomrecordreview https://www.instagram.com/p/CLMQYH8MlTb/?igshid=m7rmaowm9cv7
