How to learn biology diagrams

For example this is the diagram you have to learn so you can learn it like-

Each cell has a protective outer layer (plasma membrane) , so the cell only lets some certain things or nutrients into the system that it needs but keeps other things out (semipermeable).

Inside the animal cell there is the digestive system (cytoplasm), in the digestive system there is the working organs (organelles).

Tiny grains floating inside the system are called (ribosome) where protein is made.

The cell also has a DNA (nucleus) that contains all are genetic information the DNA is found on structures of the cell (nucleus) called chromosomes .

The nucleus is surrounded by a layer or cover (nuclear membrane) which controls what goes in and out.

Rough ER is a series of folded protective outer layer (membrane) rough ER is always spotted with the tiny grains floating around the system (ribosomes). Together the ribosomes and rough ER make new proteins and protective layer (membranes) that the system or cell needs.

While smooth ER is the opposite, it has vehicles which are used to move things around the digestive system (transport vesicles).

Now there is another working organ which helps in packaging up things, to be transported around cells or need to leave the cell like hormones (Golgi Apparatus).

Now comes lysosomes, lysosomes are both the vitamin c and the decomposer of the cell. It kills the bacteria that invades the body and it also break downs the THINGS that cell doesn 't need.

Vacuoles are large membranous sacs used to store things. While vesicles are smaller sacs.

Mitochondria is the powerhouse that breaks down sugar (ATP) which helps the cell get energy .

👀 magical girls in space you say 👀 tell me what youve got already?

so the basic lore I have is a long long time ago there was this civilization that almost got fermi paradoxed by planet-eating space whales but they didn't actually because magical girls

but now thousands of years in the future that civilization has advanced to interplanetary levels and uh oh! turns out those space whales reproduce through the space whale lysogenic cycle and there's a bunch of whale/amoeba monster things causing problems on that first planet!

cue the prophesied return of magical girls! who are our main characters!

there's this organization/corporation that knows about all this stuff and secretly plans to use magical girl powered space lasers (think promare) to vaporize all the monster problems

and they have a bunch of employees including my favourite character, the magical girl liaison officer

so it's basically gonna go from monster of the week magical girl shenanigans to this bigger plot

the magical girl powers stuff is supposed to manifest at like the host's greatest moment of need or whatever, but since 2 of our main girls don't have tragic anime backstories the organization gets fed up with waiting and just. mails them the magical girl item things. and that's the inciting incident. there's 2 girls who are coworkers at a small family business and they get a mysterious package that turns them into magical girls

the other 2 main girls do in fact have tragic anime backstories so they've had their powers for a while

I have a lot more ideas and tentative themes I want to explore with this and I'm happy it's actually starting to move

oh also there's lesbians but you probably already figured because this is magical girls

Feasting on Synapses

Your thoughts and memories are held within billions of neurons in your brain and the connections between them (synapses). In Alzheimer's disease, neurons and synapses are destroyed by the immune system. Researchers investigate how using a mouse model for Alzheimer's. 3D reconstructions using confocal microscopy images (pictured) of healthy (right) and affected (left) mouse brains revealed immune cells called microglia and astrocytes, and small immune proteins called the complement cascade are involved. Synapse proteins accumulated in microglia (white) and astrocytes (blue) of diseased brains, specifically in lysosomes (green) – compartments that digest substances a cell engulfs. Astrocytic lysosomes contained more proteins from excitatory synapses (yellow), while microglial lysosomes contained more from inhibitory synapses (red). Notably, Alzheimer’s model mice genetically engineered to lack a complement protein had fewer synapse proteins in either type of lysosome and fewer contacts between astrocytes and synapses, revealing the importance of complement in the loss of synapses.
