Mental Health Break

Me and my family went to Hong Kong for my sister's 7th birthday. We stayed for a week and went to a bunch of different places. We went to disneyland and went to attractions to take pictures and went on rides. We stayed til 10 to watch the fireworks too. Then, we went to ocean park to see the animals and went on rides there as well. I suggest going on week days if possible so there wont be as many people and the lines will be shorter. And since we wanted to make the most of our stay, we woke up early and went home late everyday. On our last day we went to macao to explore and buy pasalubong for our family. Did you know their KFC has egg tarts? Or that they had free wifi almost everywhere? They also had a train system that makes travelling without a car really easy. It wasn't as cold as i thought it would be but it wasn't hot either. When we got home i still had incomplete assignments so i did them.. the day before classes were back. That is everything i did during the mental health break

It was an unique experience as I was pulled aside at customs & fingerprinted, most likely since I’m not in their system so hopefully no need for future visits. After crossing successfully, we made our way to our hotel; checked in and then started exploring Macao) 2) 去看”#大三巴牌坊 ” (we first walked to the famous St. Paul’s and enjoyed the site and it’s beauty. There were a lot of people but we got to read about its history and enjoy some peaceful moments by sitting on its steps and soaking in its surroundings) 3) 吃正宗 #葡挞 (we found a nearby bakery with authentic Portuguese egg tarts and had our afternoon tea there. They were super delicious and we had a nice break from walking) 4) 坐缆车去”#松山市政公園 ”看日落 (we then made our way to a park where we took the cable cart to the top; walked around and enjoyed the nice sunset before riding the cable cart back down. Luckily, we were the last people to make it to the cable cart before they closed at 18:00, we made it at 17:58! Before Coronavirus I had to take a work trip to Portugal for training purposes. Like anyone who travels you always think what you can bring back to friends and family, I didn’t have a lot of luggage space and didn’t want to break the bank so I opted for an experience I could bring back to them.

One of the best dishes out of Portugal are these pastels de nata (cream tarts or Macao tarts depending on where you first encounter them). Which are tricky to make by hand and take a few hours of work. Now I’ve tried them frozen from the supermarket but they weren’t as good fresh and With the size of my suitcase In mind I turned to Airbnb. Airbnb now has an experience section where you can find photograph opportunities and cooking classes and it was from here that I found someone to teach me how to make these delicious egg tarts.

In the few months since my trip I’ve made these tarts twice and each time I get better and they get more professional tasting. Each time I get “this is the best” from my partner and son, truelly the best Christmas gift that keeps on giving.
