Now the two were inside the ferris wheel with their candy and prize stuffed bear or a dog. They spotted everything from where they were at, and noticed the lights on the Carnival lighting up. okay time for me to stop gatekeeping how the LIs would sound like if they have a VA

Klein's voice would be fairly high-pitched and speaks in a cheerful tone, and he likes to draw out his syllables when he's in that clingy mood. however, when he gets jealous and says concerning things, his voice would get deeper than normal. there's a duality to his voice.. similar to Nikolai Gogol's voice, where he can transition from being cutesy and cheery to deep and menacing.

Yael's voice would be gentle and sweet, lowkey reminiscent of Makoto Tachibana from the anime Free!, just a medium pitch >.< his voice is literally 'music to one's ears' LOL it's just pleasant to hear. he tends to speak in a slow and relaxed manner, but when he chuckles / laughs it tends to be quieter bcs he's kind of self-conscious on how he laughs

Al's voice is husky and lower pitched. he rarely ever speaks, but when he does, people often tell him that his voice does not fit his appearance. he speaks in a hurried, shaky voice, and would often nibble on his lower lip out of habit when he doesn't know what to say. Imagine it like Chogakusei's singing voice in the Bocca della Verita cover, though not as aggressive.

getting married

kirishima ikuya, nanase haruka, matsuoka rin, shigino kisumi, tachibana makoto, yamazaki sousuke (separately) x f!reader | fluff | 1.3k words

summary: how would marrying the free! boys go?

warnings: none! pls enjoy 💞

a/n: i cannot write nagisa or rei x reader because i ship them so hard. they’re literally so cute together + i can’t even imagine them not being together so 🙂

you marry kirishima ikuya in a traditional ryokan with a temple attached. he’s not religious, but temples have always been important to ikuya since some major events in his life have happened there + he always somehow feels hopeful there. your colors are a wine red/purple + white. he insists that you guys should have the perfect wedding, w all the bells + whistles. the ceremony at the temple lasts for like 2 hours, + you’re so thankful that it’s nice outside. ikuya is shedding tears the whole time but trying to seem composed + elegant. but you can feel him trembling because he’s clutching your hand the entire time. the ceremony is held in the only “party/conference room” in the ryokan.

it takes ikuya a while to get out of his shell + loosen up enough to dance. thankfully, hiyori helps him in this department by giving him a few drinks. then the rest is history. ikuya still can’t remember the small details of the reception, but he does remember trying to talk to the koi fish in the pond adjacent to where the reception was held. there’s videos of it, rin made sure of that. you have to drag ikuya up to your room on the 2nd floor of the ryokan + you nurse him back to health the entire next day. which was kinda nice, since ikuya is absolutely adorable when he’s all pouty. your honeymoon in stockholm, sweden doesn’t start till the following week, so you spend your first couple of days married to ikuya cuddled up to him and snoozing.

you marry nanase haruka at the beach, most likely the beach that he grew up on in Iwatobi. the man did not want to wear a suit + you, of course, know of haru’s love for water. so you compromise + he agrees to wear a nice, white cloth button down with khaki calf length pants. your main colors would be a lighter, almost turquoise blue paired with white. when he sees you walking down the aisle, all he can hear is the ocean waves behind him and your soft footsteps in the sand before him. the only thing he’s focused on is this moment, and the fact that you’re the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen.

he doesn’t know what to do with his hands or how to express his emotions. will likely shed a tear or two. haru doesn’t write vows, because he thinks it all seems so rehearsed, so he will say what he feels in his heart when the time comes. you’re all left sobbing. haru doesn’t really like huge parties so your reception has music, of course, + he has a great time just dancing w you + his friends. the reception ends a little early because he wants to be able to spend time with you alone before being whisked away to your honeymoon in santorini, greece

you marry matsuoka rin in an aquarium in tokyo. he wanted to get married in Australia but didn’t want to make his mom + sister travel, so he opted to make his Australian teammates travel instead. both the ceremony + the reception are held in the aquarium but in different areas. he —surprisingly —wanted to take over most of the planning for the wedding. he has had this dream of being married in the soft blue glow of the huge fish tank, so you guys get married in the jellyfish viewing room of the aquarium.you don’t have set colors because of the darkness of the inside of the aquarium, but it works out because the light reflecting off of the jellyfish make for the most beautiful blues, pinks, and reds.

he cries like a baby the entire ceremony. from the time he stands up at the altar he’s crying. sousuke has to read rin’s vows for him because he can’t stop sniffling + no one could understand him the first time he tried to read them. the crying doesn’t end until the reception is held in the main viewing room since it has more space + the main tank has sharks! there’s tons of photos ops for the guests and lots of dancing. he wants the reception to end semi early, like around 10p, because you guys have to catch an early flight to your honeymoon in sydney, australia (y'all just stay in the apartment you share in sydney but you go on little adventures to somewhere new every day)

you + shigino kisumi have a destination wedding! he really can’t decide between paris and rome, but you guys agree on paris since it’s known for it’s romance, just like kisumi is known for his own cheesy romance. your colors are a dusty pink + gold or white. kisumi wants the ceremony to be short so you guys can spend the rest of your wedding partying with your closest friends + family! so the ceremony only consists of your vows + the official “do you take…”. he 100% makes the dumb “kiss-me” joke during the “you may kiss the bride” moment. kinda ruins it but is also so cheesy you can’t help but smile.

he lowkey cries during his vows but you can only see glossy eyes + hear little sniffles. people in the audience most likely will not know he’s crying. BUT BOY CAN THIS MAN PARTY. you guys plan for a tonnnn of wedding games that get the entire party up + bumpin. the party lasts literally till like 5a + you guys just head back to your hotel to begin your honeymoon, since you’re honeymooning in paris anyways

you marry tachibana makoto in a garden. it’s a super small wedding consisting of only both of your families + your closest friends. your colors are pale yellow + orange which mix nicely w the deep greens of the garden. he’s had his vows written since he decided he was gonna propose to you + getting through reading them was so difficult for him. his ears + cheeks are a furious red that contrasted w the watery look in his eyes. he makes it through, though, but the paper his vows were written on ended up soaked in his tears. you + makoto ended your ceremony by releasing butterflies into the garden, which was entirely makoto’s idea. he’s crying the entire time.

the reception is held in the greenhouse that belongs to the garden. makoto actually made most of the decoration, which consists of tealights in mason jars, beautiful floral arrangements, + little wooden barrels w cute photo op accessories on them. you have to practically carry makoto home from the party because he’s all partied out. he didn’t drink a drop but the dancing + laughter + fun he shared w you + his friends tired him out. makoto has always wanted to go to new york city in the usa, so that’s where you guys have your honeymoon.

you + yamazaki sousuke have a traditional wedding in tokyo. sousuke isn’t religious but he likes the architecture of old churches + wanted to have his ceremony somewhere with high ceilings. the wedding is huge, though, because of sousuke’s huge family. all of his relatives, whether immediate family or distant relatives, are invited because sousuke felt it was the right thing to do. your wedding colors are turquoise + coral, + the church looks beautiful decorated in these colors. the ceremony lasts about an hour + a half + sousuke is fidgeting the entire time. you couldn’t tell from his face that he was nervous but you could tell from the way he was cracking his knuckles, shuffling his feet, + adjusting his tie. you take his hand in yours + immediately feel him calm down. he whispers a thank you to you + the rest of the ceremony goes by much easier for him.

he says his vows with ease + doesn’t shed a single tear, but once you guys are on your way to the reception in a nearby hotel, he’s all sniffles + watery smiles. this man parties quite hard, especially w his friends. he’s overall responsible, doesn’t drink much, but he’s almost competitive when it comes to dancing. he will outdance all of his friends + even you if you try to challenge him. because of all the dancing, he’s complaining that he’s sore the entire flight to hawaii the day after for your honeymoon.

🫧 When Haru moved to Tokyo for college, he asked you to come with him.

🫧 It’s a new city for Haru, and having you there eases his mind.

🫧 You’d probably argue about having mackerel for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so for your own sanity you decided to be the one who’d cook the meals.

🫧 Haru isn’t complaining, he thinks you’re an amazing cook

🫧 Every night he likes to break down his day with you, his head on your lap, the TV playing in the background. It helps him recharge his brain

🫧 He’s the type of boyfriend/roommate that would do your least favorite chore for you. Whether it’s laundry or dish washing or even cleaning a room, he’ll do it without even being asked

🫧 Makoto comes by every morning to make sure you both are awake and ready, since Haru’s routine has partly also become your routine.

🫧 Haru makes you come swimming with them in the mornings too. You attend the same college as Makoto though, and he hates parting ways with you after.

🫧 You have a special nighttime routine together that comes naturally after you move in. When you both are home for the night, after dinner Haru lets you snuggle into him for a little while and listen as you talk about your day.

🫧 He likes to be little spoon, but he also enjoys when you snuggle into him. He’ll press kisses to your head when you talk about rough moments in your day. He’ll laugh with you as well, never letting you think he wasn’t listening.

Makoto Tachibana

🫧 Gosh, living with Makoto would be a dream.

🫧 Makoto met you on his first day of college. After you started dating his first year of college, you began to sleep over quite often.

🫧 Considering you hardly ever stayed at home anymore, he knew it was risky, but he asked you to move in. He was so happy when you told him you would.

🫧 Waking up with Makoto every day is like waking up in a bubble. He felt the same, he woke up refreshed every day and never wanted to let you go.

🫧 But life had other plans. He was just thankful that you attended the same school.

🫧 After moving in, you began commuting with Haru and Mako. This included morning swim practice. Haru was kind to you, he didn’t get any weird vibe from you and you made Makoto happy.

🫧 He loves to dote on you. He has such motherly instincts for a man, it’s one of your favorite things about him.

🫧 He also likes to shower with you later on in your relationship. He loves to scrub shampoo on your head, and he’ll condition it and rinse it just for you.

🫧 He’ll even become confident enough to scrub your body with soap. That’s a fun morning.

🫧 Makoto just loves to make sure you are taking care of yourself. Feeding you is no exception. He’ll do the cooking.

🫧 But you don’t like letting him do EVERYTHING by himself, so of course you’ll help him by cleaning the dishes as he’s using them.

🫧 The two of you make a pretty good team. He likes to silently imagine doing all of this with a child between the two of you one day.

🫧 But he’s still not confident enough to let that be known to you. So he’ll just smile and soak in the present.

Nagisa Hazuki

🫧 Nagisa isn’t always the most responsible so you’re going to be pretty much on your own when it comes to most of the chores

🫧 But it’s okay because he’ll help you while you take charge. You’re vacuuming? He’ll pick up the large debris. You’re doing laundry? He’ll fold. You’re washing dishes? He’ll dry them.

🫧 He can’t cook but he’ll buy you dinner when he can afford it between rent. You just have to make sure it’s not something absolutely bizarre

🫧 He’s a huge puppy, always follows you around the house

🫧 Probably plays video games with you on your nights in.

🫧 Nagisa cares a lot about school, though, and when he’s not at swim practice during the week he’s studying.

🫧 He’ll forget to take care of himself, so you’ll bring him tea and snacks to help keep him motivated through the work. You might have to yell at him to not get distracted if he tries to get handsy with you.

🫧 He’ll invite you out to swim on Sunday mornings, and you’ll follow your workouts up with something extra healthy for breakfast.

🫧 He sometimes feels like you provide more for him than he can provide for you. But you’ll hold him and remind him you chose to live with him because you love him.

🫧 He tells himself one day he’ll have enough money to support the both of you. He hopes he can take care of you the way you can take care of him.

🫧 Waking up with Nagisa in your arms is almost like a safe haven. He likes to sleep in the honeymoon hug position, so you might have a little drool on your arm or shirt.

Rei Ryugazaki

🫧 Rei is such a careful and practical man, but also a romantic and passionate lover.

🫧 Living with Rei is endless smooth sailing. Of course all couples argue, but when it comes to living with Rei you don’t have to communicate with him on what needs to be done.

🫧 Everything is 50/50 between the two of you. Rei hates vacuuming, so you take care of it. If you hate doing dishes, he’ll do them.

🫧 The two of you will take turns cooking every night, with date night every Saturday after school. Whoever cooks, the other helps.

🫧 You both have different preferences when it comes to cooking so it’s nice being able to alternate.

🫧 If you have a bad day, Rei is the type of boyfriend to surprise you with baked sweets when you’re walking in the door

🫧 He likes to have fresh flowers for the apartment every week as well. He likes to say it’s because flowers can brighten up any room just by looking at them.

🫧 He will never admit it, but watching you get dressed is his favorite part of the day.

🫧 If you ask him, he’ll say its cooking dinner with you. But he loves watching you meticulously pick your outfit for the day, and then watching your every move when you put it on.

🫧 He just thinks you’re the most beautiful girl in the world, he could admire you all day long.

🫧 Rei is super smart, so if you ever need help with studying or homework he’s got your back 110% of the way. He’s the type who will help you solve it before he just gives you the answer, that way you’re still pushing yourself to try.

Rin Matsuoka

🫧 Oh, geez. Living in Australia is a learning curve in itself for you

🫧 But your ever-so-caring boyfriend is there to help you every step of the way. He was in your shoes once after all

🫧 Rin loves taking you out for walks every morning. Sometimes you’ll both opt for a run, but most of the time you like to slow down with him and take in the new sights.

🫧 He loves to sit in the park with you at night, just to talk about your day together. He wants all of your grit, he wants to make all the bad disappear.

🫧 Rin is honestly the biggest romantic you’ve ever met. He’s the type of boyfriend who’d surprise pick you up from school and walk home with you.

🫧 He loves when you watch him swim. He always feels like he’s doing better if you’re there watching him. He’s definitely a show-off for you

🫧 Because he’s training to become a world-class athlete, making sure Rin is eating properly most of the time falls on your shoulders. He can cook, but there’s no guarantee he’ll cook something he should be eating.

🫧 But he’s ever so appreciative when you make his lunch for him, packing it with some nice snacks to help him power through the day.

🫧 When it comes to sleeping, Rin doesn’t always like to cuddle. But sometimes you’ll wake up in the night, and Rin will be holding you, big spooning you or holding you in a honeymoon hug.

🫧 Rin definitely talks in his sleep. Sometimes, when you’re lucky, you’ll catch some of the things he says. One time, you heard him say your name followed by “don’t let the chickens eat the rice.”

🫧 That had you cracking up for days. Rin always thinks your lying, but one of these days you’ll have to remember to record him.

🫧 He’ll get you back for making fun of him one of these days. For now, he’ll just laugh with you.

Sousuke Yamazaki

🫧 Life with Sousuke isn’t simple, and it’s not easy at times.

🫧 With his shoulder and just having surgery, you might have to pick up a lot of the house chores.

🫧 He always tries though, and that’s what counts. Healing should be his top priority, so you never hold it against him.

🫧 After his check-ups, Sousuke also likes to go on walks with you. Just to effortlessly talk and laugh about anything.

🫧 Waking up with him is so sweet. He tries to cook you breakfast since you always cook lunch and dinner. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

🫧 And when it doesn’t, he’ll just take you out to eat breakfast.

🫧 I feel like Sousuke is a chess man. If you have some free time, he’ll probably sit down and play a game of chess and just talk.

🫧 He always lets you think you’re going to win, but then he’ll put you in check before you even know it.

🫧 Pushing Sousuke to eat better is probably the thing you two argue about most. He drinks soda every day, it’s garbage and it’s bad for you.

🫧 He silently appreciates it though. Getting back into swimming won’t be easy if he lets himself get out of shape.

🫧 Sousuke is a simple man. He’ll bring you home a little sweet every day on his way home from work. Its his way of showing he appreciates you day in and day out.

yes but also it depends on what mood i am. Like am i in a "Nanase's are actually nice and not neglectful and Haru doesn't have abandonment issues bc of them" mood?

then, when Mama Tachibana was pregnant with the twins she was so incredibly fatigued that Makoto basically lived at the Nanase's for like half the year. Makoto would join them for every outing, big or small, he would go shopping with them and get to pick out his own cereal and favourite snacks and fruits, he was always allowed to have an input on what to have for dinner (if Haru was being extra grumpy then Mama Nanase and Makoto would just share a look before Makoto would say that he wants mackerel, bc they both know Makoto doesn't actually but that if they don't, then they're both have to deal with Haru's crankiness.) He joins them for big trips, of which there are many, the first time he visits the aquarium is with the Nanases, his first trip to an amusement part is with them; once during those 6 months they go to visit family in Osaka and Makoto joins them, bc ofc he does, he's family.

Papa Nanase is the reason Makoto can do maths. Whenever they come back to visit Haru, they always bring a present back for Makoto too.

When they're off to uni, I like to think about Mama Nanase teasing him about never having to worry about Haru back in Iwatobi bc she knew Haru-chan had his Mako-chan. Makoto would blush so deep, and she'd laugh at him. She'd tell him the only reason she could make such a difficult decision of leaving her son behind was bc she entrusted Haru to the one person who worried for him the way she did.

When MH are enganged, Haru says he wants to take Makoto's last name, but Makoto would feel super bad about it (bc Haru's an only child etc) but Papa Nanase would assure him that they're completely ok with it bc not only has Haru always been a Tachibana, but they're not "losing" anything when they're getting the best son in law imaginable. Makoto wears Papa Nanase's wedding tie to his own as the "something borrowed".

but when I'm in a bitter mood I just need Makoto to be resentful. He'd never say anything bad about them in front of Haru, bc Haru never has anything bad to say. But even that passing comment in s2 when Makoto asks when his parents will come home and Haru says at the end of summer, and Makoto responds with "your parents are such free spirits" i need that to be a snide remark that Makoto can't hold back. I need him to be petty. Because they're Haru's parents, Haru who's precious and deserves every ounce of love a person has to offer, Haru who is kind and independent and doesn't like to make a big deal of things when it comes to himself. Haru, who's looked after Makoto all his life, but never had anyone to look after him. Any comment about not needing to worry about Haru bc he was "in good hands with the Tachibanas" would not be met with kindness from Makoto. Yes, the Tachibanas love Haru like their own, but they should've loved him as such WITH the love of his own parents. The Tachibanas shouldn't have been a replacement. Makoto would be calm when tearing them apart, never raising his voice, never getting rude or disrespectful, but he'd be thorough, and absolutely make them face their sins.

sad haru hours.

i know it wasn't ever really talked about in free! because haru never really spoke of his feelings about it (the only time i ever recall anything said about his parents is when makoto offhandedly remarked about how haru's parents are "free-spirited") but i can't imagine anyone, not even haru (despite his stoic nature), growing up without their parents and not feeling any sort of... fear of abandonment because of it. maybe i'm just saying this as someone who developed an intense fear of abandonment because of my own personal strained relationship with my parents but... being someone who dealt with that fear/the absence of parents the same way haru does for most of the series (re: indifference, at least outwardly), it makes me wonder if haru has ever felt empty or a sense of longing whenever he spends his time around the tachibana family, or when he learns of how tight-knit the matsuoka family is despite rin's loss (of his father). i wonder if haru felt any envy, and then guilt for feeling that way, only to quell it down by masking it with indifference (because that is exactly how i dealt with the envy and guilt growing up. even now, actually). i wonder if that's why haru's character is portrayed as quiet, withdrawn, lonely and emotionally-stunted (or if it's just a coincidence. like, how far into haru's upbringing did kyoani actually decide to take into account when they created his character? i really want to know).

.. because as someone who has seen and observed the difference it makes in a person's character when they grow up in a secure home with parents that are present (e.g. rin being confident and able to work towards big dreams for himself, makoto being generally secure and positive about everything.. both of them having the support of their families), it makes haru's character so painfully relatable and dear to me. and then all of haru's struggles unfold with the series (not understanding if what he felt was loneliness, not being comfortable with physical contact—a common experience for people who did not grow up with much physical intimacy from their parents, struggling with rejection (quitting swimming the moment he felt rejected by rin and then dwelling on the guilt because he thinks rin quit because of him), struggling with emotional expression, not wanting to explore beyond his comfort zone, not having a dream because no one has ever really pushed for him to reach for one and thus struggling with relating to those around him that do have goals and dreams, and then finally having a dream and pushing himself way too hard because there is no one to guide him (and so he takes azuma's words quite literally when he tells him he has to throw things away in order to become stronger).. idk. i'm not sure how to describe what i feel about this but it makes me want to put haru in my pocket and protect him from the world because i relate to too much of it.

it's a common theme in most of the fics i've read that talk about haru's relationship with his barely-there parents.. but i wish there was some sort of confirmation from kyoani about why they made haru's character the way he is and whether it has anything to do with his family. like, i know a big part of consuming content is reading between the lines because not everything has to be spelt out for you to grasp the idea, but.. maybe the little, childish me deep down that thought, "hey, he's just like me" wants it to be confirmed and true instead of feeling like i'm just making a big deal out of nothing, y'know? but anyways.

↘ Kisumi has no problem with that. He’s a good and cheerful kid who really loves you and who doesn’t want to put limits on you.

↘ He also loves skinship with his closest friends, so he perfectly understands your need for closeness among other people (friends or family members). He also sees the difference between your body contact and that between you and your male friends whom you even consider older brothers. With him you are even more clingy, less tense and definitely more sensitive.

↘ The boy trusts you a lot and I think he is the type of partner who likes to capture your pleasant moments with the phone camera. ↘ He cares about your good relationship, so he doesn’t want to forbid you anything. In the same time, you always ask him to express his opinion about such things. Even if them could push you to change your behavior – after all, the relationship is a compromise for you and you don’t want your boyfriend to ever feel bad seeing you in friends’ arms (even if they are like brothers from another mother to you).

↘ But still – Haruka has no problems with your friends and if they are interested in sports (especially swimming) he’s willing to ask them to hug you more often just so he can talk to them about sports competitions or diet.

ideas/ headcanons under the cut!

so. if you thought hiro doesn't come from a family with kickass women i'm sorry but i do not agree!!!!

kureha tachibana:

i imagine she's roughly four years older than hiro, give or take. also taller than him (i put hiro at 5'11" and kureha at 6'2")

lulu and belle's retainer, but used to shadow both parents when they were performing their *~Retainerly Duties~*

used a kendo sword instead of a real one. it has a steel core, so the bamboo is replaceable, but still hits like a truck. she uses hinomotan magic, too, but probably not to the same extent that hiro does. she likes it this way though :)

looks way more like their dad, while hiro takes after their mom. i'm pretty sure this is canon? i think it was mentioned in the nobility spin off, but it's been a hot minute since i've seen the screenshot.

scary and mad confident. she is hot shit and she knows it. very good at keeping secrets, though, and unlike her brother and zeus, knows when to keep her mouth shut. she has a keen eye for trouble, too. almost like she has a spidey sense or some other premonition-equivalent power. hiro has no idea how she does it.

i think her style would be similar to hiro's, though - easy to move in and comfortable. a liiiiittle more fashionable, though. the kind of gal that always wears boots and sneakers, and flats for formal events.

also bisexual. very bisexual. there are no straight people under the brundle estate's roof because i say so. sorry solmare this is what you get when you abandon ur games :/

makoto tachibana:

a former assassin from hinomoto. she was part of the assassination attempt on the brundle household when thor lost his leg, but was on the hinomoto side of it. her job was to kill seiji, who had just lost his parents at the time.

she obviously didn't kill seiji, but instead fell in love at first sight. she betrayed her employer and fellow assassins, ending their lives and trading her daggers for the life of a normal woman. seiji has no idea about any of this. would he care? maybe, but she's an excellent mother and an equally talented wizard, so he'd probably get over it quickly and be all mushy and say something like "the scars of your past do not matter. you are here with me now, and the fire in my heart that burns for you has not diminished." you know, like a shakespearean loser.

she's had other assassins come after her and seiji, but seiji just assumes it's because they're the tachibana family, and not because his wife has history with them. (only the lookout managed to get away after the assassination attempt, so he was the only one from the queensblade group that learned of makoto's betrayal)

super strong. even better at magic than her husband, but stays as a last line of defense for the estate. if you somehow make it past seiji, you won't make it past her.

she's iris' retainer, and they get along very well! they gossip about their husbands' relationship often and they find it very funny.

biggest reason why the tachibana family uses ravens as their familiars. murders used to surround makoto all the time, and now it's no different *slaps knee*

also very scary when mad. like, extra scary. nobody fucks with mama. but very nice otherwise :) sometimes she'll slip into her more rough and tumble side - think former biker, almost.

uhh i can't think of much else right now but i'm sure i'll think of more when i actually... .. you know... .. do a proper illustration with them and hiro.... ;_;
