i mean, damn, this is making me think of shannon & mary. what is a ghost? what is a ghost if not a warrior nun? she is a tragedy condemned to repeat itself.

it's right there! this tragedy that haunts the narrative, which is going to be echoed in Ava and Beatrice. it is always going to echo in them. & the way Mary is framed so many times, standing with only her empty hands. how Beatrice is framed at the end, sitting with the ghost of Ava on her palms.

Mary, really, for the whole of s1, is something dead which still seems to be alive. she's framed by the absence of her shannon. alone on the cliffside, back turned on a corpse. alone with a drawing of a girl in her hand, asking in a low tired voice where she might find her.
