Everytime Marvin used magic, or maybe more powerful magic, his hair goes green from his roots an an effect on him... like the magic is pulling from all of him.

Why his hair is not consistent... it's brown tipped on his alt cover... but full green on both character covers...

It's Magic Man's Birthday Today!!

and with it comes my addition to @jselorekeeper 's Marvin week!

this was fun to make but sadly (due to me having a busy week), I only managed to make 3 cards. Maybe I'll make more, maybe I won't we'll see.

Now here's a fun fact about spades that I found on Google cuz idk what else to write here: Ever wondered why the ace of spades' spade is larger and more ornate than the others? It's a tax thing. The first systematic duty was imposed on cards in 1711, and in order to indicate that the fee had been paid, a tax stamp was placed on the top card, which was usually the ace of spades

Malachite - (Marvin, Wings of Fire AU)

Malachite is a RainWing/SilkWing hybrid dragon. He grew up in the rainforest, and loved watching magicians do their acts whenever he could as a dragonet. He learned of animus magic at a young age, and tried for years to enchant things to see if he had animus magic. Malachite became a magician, and called himself “Malachite the Magnificent.” Eventually, Malachite suddenly manifested animus magic. Most speculate it was another animus dragon who enchanted Malachite to become an animus, but Malachite claims it was a late development of his powers. When he suddenly developed his animus power, some of Malachite’s scales became shades of red, and nobody has seen them change color since, which is odd, as his ‘disappearing’ act is one of his most popular. 

(Malachite made a deal with Phantom for animus magic, and some of his scales turned permanently red as a result, taking away one of his favorite things about being a RainWing hybrid of changing his scale color and going invisible. Despite being an artificial animus, his power is quite strong.)

Here are some Marvin the Magnificent Headcanons since it was their birthday recently!!

Quick disclaimer before we begin is that I exclusively have used they/them pronouns for Marvin throughout this post (I headcannon them as being Non-Binary) I just wanted to quickly mention this before we begin to save any confusion!!

-Can naturally do magic, it's part of their family heritage and they're by far one of the strongest magic users in their family

-The pointy ears and unnatural eyes are a physical mark to show that they can do magic/aren't fully human (think of it being similar to the Witches in The Owl House)

-The reason they have cat eyes specifically is because that's the animal that their familiars with, every witch has a specific animal they have a kinship with and Marvin's just so happens to be a cat! (Witches will gain certain abilities attaining to whatever animal they're kin too- in Marvin's case they're extremely agile, can see in the dark and are more sensitive to sound, they also have 9 lives)

-Marvin has died before, so now they're only on 8 lives. Ever since then they've been extremely overly cautious

-in terms of magic they used to specialise in illusions and theatrical based spells- as well as potions. When they realised that their life could potentially be in danger due to Anti they started studying the ever loving fuck out of offence and defence spells. Something that can be extremely difficult because you're learning how to fight AND how to learn magic at the exact same time

-whatever society Marvin is from, they don't rely on technology as much/their technology has developed differently and is directly sourced from magic. Basically what I'm saying is that they literally have no fucking clue how any technology works (they get along famously with JJ because of this)

-The society that Marvin is from also just, does not have the same gender roles or heteronormivity that our society does- so they've always been completely comfortable and excepted in their identity as a queer(nblm) Non-Binary individual (they didn't know the exact labels for this since it's not a thing where Marvin is from- there are just people with preferences in how they express themselves and that's basically where it ends in their society)

-Marvin is only in this current world due to the experiments of IRIS- them meddling with Portals and Marvin being in the crossfire of one, being dragged to this world without a way to get back, only having a few spell books, potions and items to their name (this is what ties them to IRIS, since they're the only people that are capable of sending them back home)

-they met Jackie when they where in the process of stealing that magic orb- Jackie was suspicious of this, until he realised that Marvin is probably the only person who could actually use it in the way it was intended too

-Marvin only started to become romantically attracted to Jackie when he started showing his softer side. As much as he does love his outgoing, confident and loud personality, it was seeing the genuine compassion and care Jackie has for people that truly made them love him

PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT MORE OF THESE I LOVE COMING UP WITH THEM AND WOULD LOVE TO DO SO AGAIN!!!!!

Context for the au: Fantasy au where there’s gods and kingdoms and stuff. Everyone can manifest a weapon through their soul, each weapon special to the summoner (people can have the same weapons, but each one looks different and has different “effects”). All egos and ego adjacent people are in the setting, or as many as I can include without confusing myself
