PEARL JAM FAN SURVEY
Hi! I’m conducting a survey within the Ten Club on their views of Pearl Jam’s activism and political involvement throughout their career. You do not have to view them as political to participate, I’m looking for any and all opinions regarding the topic! If you would be interested in participating or know someone who might be, please feel free to share this link! There is also an option to leave further info for an interview, however, there is a chance I may not have enough time to conduct those! Just a forewarning :) (More background info below the link:)
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeC9txt98mVV0DrJvtDtqfOrQ_L9AB3u2XiquDEaFkYFTM6Zw/viewform
A little more on the inspiration behind this survey; I’m currently a student attending UNLV and am putting together an analysis on language within discourse communities. I’m probably considered a new Pearl Jam fan still, only really listening to them since early 2022, but I’ve always been really interested in their history and impact. However, I’m definitely not looking for only one type of answer, this survey is open to ALL, whether they agree or not. If you have any questions or would like to talk more about it, feel free to reach out! :)

Alive by Pearl Jam: the thirty-year Story of a rock hit
On July 7, 1991, five guys tried to affirm themselves with their music and released a single that made them part of the history of rock. They had given them the name Mookie Blaylock, but very soon they would become Pearl Jam. The single Alive comes from a song by Stone Gossard, Dollar Short, which he had written when he was with Mother Love Bone.Dollar Short was one of five tracks recorded on a…

Album Review: Joni Mitchell - At Newport
Joni Mitchell laughing with joy is among the sweetest of sounds heard on At Newport.
That laughter is often and unfortunately, however, cut when the album inexplicably fades between tracks and/or head cheerleader Brandi Carlile inserts herself unnecessarily into the proceedings.
At Newport is, thus, less a Joni Mitchell album and more a celebration of Joni Mitchell. And in that regard, it is hugely successful.
It documents Mitchell’s first gig in more than two decades with a cast of musical friends and admirers at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival. Led by Carlile, the Joni Jam band includes Lucius, guitarists Taylor Goldsmith and Celisse, pianist Ben Lusher, percussionists Marcus Mumford and Matt Chamberlain, Allison Russell on clarinet and others.
Everyone sings.
Including, of course, Mitchell, whose voice has deepened and become less agile. But being a vocalist extraordinaire, Mitchell knows how to work her diminished instrumental and coax all it has to give, even as she struggles to keep up on uptempo ensemble pieces such as “Carey.”
Her 2015 brain aneurysm be damned, the 78-in-2022 Mitchell shines on ballads such as “Amelia,” “Both Sides Now” and “Summertime.” She even picks up an electric guitar for “Just Like this Train” to the delight of the appreciative audience, which roars with approval every time Mitchell nails a note.
And even when she doesn’t.
For her part, Mitchell is tickled, cackling between - and occasionally during - numbers, recalling Hejira as among her favorite albums and offering support when her collaborators take over, as Lucius do on “Big Yellow Taxi” and Celisse does on “Help Me.”

Stoney & Ryan Lendt teach you how to play Painted Shield and goof around talking music, time travel, Brittany Davis and AARP lol. Whether with Ryan or Rick Beato it always cracks me up that Stoney needs someone else to remind him how to play his own music.

New Video: Clementine Valentine Share Lush and Dreamy "Selenelion"
New Video: Clementine Valentine Share Lush and Dreamy "Selenelion" @FlyingNun @motormouthpr
Kiwi-based sibling duo Clementine and Valentine Nixon have had music and performing deeply embedded in their lineage: Traveling musicians and performers go back hundreds of years on their maternal side — and has been documented on recordings such as 1968’s The Traveling Stewarts. As children, the Nixon Sisters were taught to sing traditional balladry by their grandmother, the daughter of revered…

was reading the liner notes for Leighton Meester’s album (Heartstrings, 2014, go listen to it right now it’s the best pop album you have never heard) and noticed it was Matt Chamberlain on drums.
Dude has worked with some of my favorite acts in music -- Leighton, he’s spent almost three decades working with Tori Amos, I believe he is touring with Lorde now, he’s worked with Brandi Carlile and The Wallflowers and David Bowie and Garbage.  What a melange of interesting artists.
in the AU where I’m a talented musician I’m begging Matt Chamberlain to play drums for me

Massive Attack's Ritual Spirit is a homecoming. What I try to define here with this term? Well, a homecoming occurs, when a musician brings back an important person that gave him or her his or her largest success into a fold. Heathen by Bowie follows the rule. You see, the LP found him collaborating with Tony Visconti again, whose name remains synonymous with Bowie. Of course, the disc began the final phase of Bowie's career, though I am surprised many didn't take one thing into a consideration , i.e. Heathen was a much better version of '...hours...' Check the preceding platter again, not many do thanks to the lackluster response of that. Now imagine the disc being helmed by Visconti – yes, you get the memo.

It was 5 years ago today: Randy Newman's Dark Matter—his first album of new material in nine years—was released on Nonesuch. You can hear it again and get it on vinyl here.
Produced by long-time Newman collaborators Mitchell Froom, Lenny Waronker, and David Boucher, the album includes songs about Vladimir Putin (the Grammy-winning song “Putin”), the Kennedy brothers, Sonny Boy Williamson, science vs. religion, love and loss, and more. Performers include Matt Chamberlain on drums, David Piltch on bass, Blake Mills on guitar, Froom on additional keyboards, and an orchestra conducted by Newman.
Design by Michael Carney.
