PORTGAS D.ACE : SOU MUSA DO VERÃO - marshmello, luísa sonza

there's something about this song that makes me think of ace in the most... unhinged way. the main chorus is the thing that really stands out to me, because not only he would look gorgeous in a edit with that, it have the same hot energy that ace exhales. he is the kind of man we would see shirtless and imagine things that become a concern to feminism; and that song is exactly what we all, ace simps, want to say to him.

NAMI : ASSANHADINHA - pocah, mc durrony

nami gives the vibes of someone that does not care, period. she just does what she wants and is not afraid to own it too. i can definitely see this song on her playlist too, not only because of the way she relates to the lyrics, but also the beat itself. another big reason is simply: my girl likes to throw it back, and this is a great song to do it without problem.

NICO ROBIN : PILOTO - flora matos

i put piloto as robin's song, because 1. i ship her with franky; 2. she would totally be the type of person (the 'pilot') that is described in the song. careful? caring? loving? a good person? a scholar? pays attention? courageous? a mate? truthful? a armor bearer? if you need, dangerous? she is all of those things and much more. and that's why she will be forever the woman that holds my heart and she should hold yours too.

SABO : EU VOU COM CARINHO ELA QUER COM FORÇA - mc don juan, mc g15, mc davi

this one i will keep short and simple. a loooong time ago i saw a tiktok that had this song as a "sabo sounds like this" and i couldn't unhear it since (i cant find it again, im sorry); plus the lyrics match very very well. thats it. i cant elaborate further.

USOPP : PAPIN - mc kevin o chris, mc caja

the lyrics say everything i need to say: "fell for my talk, it's over". it's proven over and over again that usopp can lie to people easily, when he wants to. and, after the live action, i can't stop thinking about usopp trying to win you over with a sweet talk, his eyes and voice tone nervous, but so sweet it wins you over. plus, the song weirdly fits his vibe.

SANJI : RITA - tierry

i kinda refuse to explain this one, because it's almost a joke for myself, but i shall translate some of the lyrics (think that he's singing it to you): "oh love, come back. come back, love, and i will forgive the stabbing. oh, love, don't leave me alone, come back and i will pull out the charges."

DRACULE MIHAWK : ME RECLAMA - mambo kingz, dj luian, luigi 21 plus, ozuna

THIS SONG IS SO MIHAWK CODED, IT MAKES ME SICK. he knows he's the best, he always goes to you when you call him and he's not afraid to tell others that it's "not his fault he is the one you call for". his entire persona with this song in the background makes me shake, he would look extremely ethereal with his hand on your waist, pulling you closer, and his head tilted – all while his lips are whispering sweet spanish into your ear.

so tell me a fun fact about each of them

ahh tysm for asking about my mc’s 🥹 I’ve been wanting to make a longer separate post about each of them but work has kept me too busy lately! Will eventually get around to it but to answer your question (and elaborate just a tad on their backstories)…

Fun Facts about my MC’s 💜

Estelle Frye:

She was my first MC (and my only for many, many months!), so has the most detailed and fleshed out backstory by far. Her first name is inspired by the lead character from one of my favourite series of games (Trails in the Sky), but her nickname Este is also a subtle nod to Taylor Swift’s song ‘no body, no crime’.

I also decided to throw in a bit of a crossover with my last fandom by making her the daughter of the AC:Syndicate protagonist Jacob Frye.

With that in mind, her fun fact is that she is able to use Eagle Vision and was briefly trained as an assassin prior to starting at Hogwarts. She tends to prefer a stealthier approach to combat, even when using magic.

She is also the MC most inspired by my own appearance & personality, so much so that eventually I just decided to cheekily self-insert a much cooler version of myself as her mom (because technically I did create her, right? 😂)

Evie Morgan:

My newest MC, so I’m still solidifying her character and backstory so apologies if this one seems a bit bland compared with the rest!

She is a distant descendant of Isadora Morganach - I know it’s not implied that Isadora had any children or family other than her brother & father, but my imagination was hard at work with this one 🤭

Fun fact - She is the younger cousin of Elsie Morgan, one of the other students who compete in Imelda’s time trials. I’ve decided that Elsie is the captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team too, because why not?

Her name is also another gentle nod to AC: Syndicate (Evie Frye) - there’s a pattern emerging here 🤷🏻‍♀️

Leila Greene:

She is my one and only muggleborn MC (technically…will elaborate more on this in the future!). She’s quite artsy and has a green thumb, and I consider her to be my most cheerful & outgoing character by far.

Fun fact: Her mother is a lover of all things literature & poetry and named her after the characters in Lord Byron’s works ‘The Giaour’ and ‘Don Juan’.

She’s also technically the only MC whose name isn’t directly inspired in some way by another form of media - I only found out about the Lord Byron connection after choosing her name!

Thalia Blackwood:

Another MC whose first name was inspired by a favourite character of mine from the Percy Jackson series. She is a descendant of Eunon Blackwood, the creator of the hedge mazes that appear around the highlands, which technically also makes her distantly related to the Black family (again, imagination working overtime on this one!). She is completely unaware of this until she stumbles upon the mazes during her fifth year.

As for her fun fact, like her namesake, she is terribly afraid of heights, and Astronomy & Flying class are two of her least favourite classes for this very reason.

Doesn't it annoy you how much Diego is hated on Reddit for no reason? Sure he's flirty and cocky but redditors act like he's somehow the spawn of Satan and I believe it's a trend to hate on him. Everyone is like "Oh idk who the hell this character is, but since everyone hates him, I hate him too!".

There's that one dude who said "I headcanon him as a pervert". The dudes flair is year 3. Did you even meet Diego? 👁️👄👁️. Same goes for Poor Ben

Oh, this hate goes from way back when he was released, I wasn't present but content from that time evidences as such.

I truly don't know why, if I'm being honest, he has that Don Juan personality that can be jarring to some people, but he backs away from being flirty with MC almost immediately after that first encounter and becomes one of the most insightful and level-headed friends in our list with his own backstory and interests, albeit a little attention seeking.

People are so caught up in his "I'm great at dueling" dialogues because "MC is the best blah blah blah" when it's evident the game doesn't allow failure from us. The statement is "Diego is the best at duelling" with evidence to prove so, i.g. Merula seeks his mentoring, Flitwick tells us so, etc. So whoever complains about it is just being silly and redundant.

Or they'll complain about him being self-centered and talking in the third person about himself, when he tells us it's a mechanism to help himself with self-confidence issues, etc.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt with him being introduced much later than most of our regular friends and in light relation to Merula, but it doesn't fully explain why his reception was so different from other similar characters.

I don't like going down this path, but if we're looking at all possible reasons why, I wouldn't exclude biases against his ethnicity and/or race in their dislike towards him.

I do think dislike for him has decreased considerably, but I also don't know how has his presence been in the game as of late since I have stopped playing quite a few months ago, but I've no doubt he hasn't been getting the attention he deserves (him and every other character out of the circus act that has been the latest plot threads).

#i do have a thing for these somewhat disliked characters so idk #and if I'm being honest if I was the best at duelling. you can be sure I'd brag about it left and right #If I had that confidence I'd be flirty too #better to honest brag than pretend fake humbleness #anyway #i love diego #i love shipping him with Aspen. I love writing him as well #diego caplan #hphm #ask #rambling #thanks for asking!!!
