So…almost a year after release, I finally decided that I should probably do a playthrough of all of four houses in Hogwarts Legacy.

I’ve decided to expand on my existing Slytherin MC’s lore as well as create three brand-new MCs, complete with their own backstories.

Will eventually link all of their detailed individual posts below, but for now, the basics…

Slytherin 🐍: Estelle (Este) Frye

Birthday: 7 August 1875 (Leo)

Wand: Holly wood with a dragon heartstring core, 12 ½ inches, and reasonably supple flexibility

Ravenclaw 🦅: Evelyn (Evie) Morgan

Birthday: 13 September 1874 (Virgo)

Wand: Blackthorn wood with a phoenix feather core, 11 ¾ inches and hard flexibility

Hufflepuff 🦡: Leila Greene

Birthday: 24 February 1875 (Pisces)

Wand: Cedar wood with a unicorn hair core, 10 inches and solid flexibility

Gryffindor 🦁: Thalia Blackwood

Birthday: 21 December 1874 (Sagittarius)

Wand: Yew wood with a unicorn hair core, 13 ¾ inches and supple flexibility

ahh tysm for asking about my mc’s 🥹 I’ve been wanting to make a longer separate post about each of them but work has kept me too busy lately! Will eventually get around to it but to answer your question (and elaborate just a tad on their backstories)…

Fun Facts about my MC’s 💜

Estelle Frye:

She was my first MC (and my only for many, many months!), so has the most detailed and fleshed out backstory by far. Her first name is inspired by the lead character from one of my favourite series of games (Trails in the Sky), but her nickname Este is also a subtle nod to Taylor Swift’s song ‘no body, no crime’.

I also decided to throw in a bit of a crossover with my last fandom by making her the daughter of the AC:Syndicate protagonist Jacob Frye.

With that in mind, her fun fact is that she is able to use Eagle Vision and was briefly trained as an assassin prior to starting at Hogwarts. She tends to prefer a stealthier approach to combat, even when using magic.

She is also the MC most inspired by my own appearance & personality, so much so that eventually I just decided to cheekily self-insert a much cooler version of myself as her mom (because technically I did create her, right? 😂)

Evie Morgan:

My newest MC, so I’m still solidifying her character and backstory so apologies if this one seems a bit bland compared with the rest!

She is a distant descendant of Isadora Morganach - I know it’s not implied that Isadora had any children or family other than her brother & father, but my imagination was hard at work with this one 🤭

Fun fact - She is the younger cousin of Elsie Morgan, one of the other students who compete in Imelda’s time trials. I’ve decided that Elsie is the captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team too, because why not?

Her name is also another gentle nod to AC: Syndicate (Evie Frye) - there’s a pattern emerging here 🤷🏻‍♀️

Leila Greene:

She is my one and only muggleborn MC (technically…will elaborate more on this in the future!). She’s quite artsy and has a green thumb, and I consider her to be my most cheerful & outgoing character by far.

Fun fact: Her mother is a lover of all things literature & poetry and named her after the characters in Lord Byron’s works ‘The Giaour’ and ‘Don Juan’.

She’s also technically the only MC whose name isn’t directly inspired in some way by another form of media - I only found out about the Lord Byron connection after choosing her name!

Thalia Blackwood:

Another MC whose first name was inspired by a favourite character of mine from the Percy Jackson series. She is a descendant of Eunon Blackwood, the creator of the hedge mazes that appear around the highlands, which technically also makes her distantly related to the Black family (again, imagination working overtime on this one!). She is completely unaware of this until she stumbles upon the mazes during her fifth year.

As for her fun fact, like her namesake, she is terribly afraid of heights, and Astronomy & Flying class are two of her least favourite classes for this very reason.

The last two lines I wrote:

“Are you sure about this?” Evi asks. “I know you’re-“

“Desperate?” I raise an eyebrow. “I am, Evi.”

And here’s a little thing that happened before the beginning. It takes place about a year or two, three before the start of the story. I mainly just wanted to introduce the other Lowell siblings, and give you a look at their dynamic.

The long, winding hallways of the palace are quiet. That’s nothing new, although this silence feels heavier somehow. My footsteps echo and bounce off the walls, throwing the sound back at me as if to taunt me.

A shadow shrouded in purple and black slips out from an alcove and keeps pace with me.

“Any changes?” Morgan asks. Her voice is familiar: rough around the edges if you know her well, but smooth to everyone else.

I shake my head. “Nothing so far.”

“And Jason-“

“He doesn’t know any more than we do.”

Morgan slips a knife from the folds of her dress and flips it open, spinning it expertly between her long fingers. When we were children, it scared me how comfortable she was with knives. Even though she’s older than me, I always worried she would get hurt. But she never did.

“I wish there was something we could do rather than just wait,” she says, twisting the blade between her fingers. Then she flips it up in the air and catches it in her other hand. “It’s driving me up the wall.”

“I know.” It’s a meaningless statement, but I don’t know what else to say. Still, I don’t want to be adding to the suffocating silence.

We take a turn by at the end of the corridor, into a hallway with open arches leading outside. Morgan gracefully swings her legs over the edge and sits down, heedless of the blizzard outside. The cold wind tugs at her long black hair, peppering it with snow.

I join her and look down. I can barely see the pines far below, let alone anyone who might be approaching.

“There’s my favourite siblings,” a loud voice exclaims over the howling winds.

Morgan and I barely have time to scoot aside before our younger brother, Jason, drops down between us. Morgan immediately fixes him with a stern glare.

“Were you scaling the walls in this weather?”

Jason has the decency —or common sense— to blush. “Maybe?”

Morgan is entirely unamused, and it’s times like this that I remember she’s the oldest. She decides against having this discussion now, however, and just sighs. Jason’s grin fades when he sees how tired she looks.

“Any news from dad?”

He’s the only one of us who stills calls our father —our king— dad.

“No,” I reply, opting to take this burden from our sister. “The messengers won’t be able to get to the palace in this weather.”

Jason glared into the storm as if it has personally offended him. In follow his eyes, back to where I know the mountains are. Beyond those mountains, our father has joined the battle to protect our lands. We have so little fertile ground, the ground hard with frost nine months of the year, and our neighbours are still trying to claim them.

“He’ll be alright,” Morgan says decidedly.

I nod, more for Jason’s sake than because I believe her.

He’ll be alright. He has to be. I’m not ready to become king.
