Slowly have been falling back into my mcsm hyperfixation, though it’s kinda on brand with me and Minecraft stuff

So!

Here are my headcanon designs for Jesse and Lukas! Jesse has the odd purple stuff on him cause of- Y’know, coming in close contact with the wither storm?

I like the idea that survivors from inside of the witherstorm have permanent side effects/looks on em, Jesse is no acceptation to this! His biggest change where his eyes changing colors, going from his usual bright green to the dark purple!

(They might also have the ability to slightly glow at night? Like the Endermen and Witherstorm are depicted in game to have?)

As for Lukas I wanted him to have the look of someone who’s been around the block (ha) a few times, like he’s actually done some adventuring?

He has bags around his legs and such to carry supplies for books or to carry around food/water, cause that’s- Y’know important! (And Jesse may forget to eat every now and then, because he got too busy with work)

Uhmmm I have more mcsm stuff I’ve made/am cooking up? I also have more Steve legends stuff I’m making, and stuff for The crafting dead

IM STUPID I FIGURED OUT WHATS BOTHERING ME ABOUT A MINECRAFT MOVIE

IT NEEDS TO BE A MINECRAFT TV SHOW!

the problem with it being a Minecraft Movie is that movies are a lot more widespread and generalized. There's too much of an audience that will watch the Minecraft Movie, and they're going to be incredibly critical of it because of the way Minecraft works being rather odd to people who dont know it (and there's probably a LOT of people who don't know it, because while Minecraft is the #1 sold game of all time, it's also still a game most people over 30 don't know because its out of their generations.)

If they make a "realistic" Minecraft Movie, they're going to lose their actual playerbase though, because we want Block Game! Yes Jason Mamoa looks like Steve but I think players would riot if there was a live-action Minecraft Movie. But if they make it blocky animation or something, that's too stylized to realistically appeal to the greater audience. Disney 3D animation is one thing, the people and world and items all being made of cubes I think is too much of a stretch.

There's also the method of storytelling- Minecraft, as a game, has no plot. THAT'S THE ENTIRE SELLING POINT OF THE GAME! Any stories told within Minecraft are usually made with interpretations of the player, and often use ideas or mechanics not in the vanilla game (whether that is characters, builds, mods, or just the story itself not following the rules of the game)

And with this I think of Minecraft: Story Mode. Because that game literally was an early prototype of how this can all go.

Now don't get me wrong, I love MCSM! It's what got me into fandom in the first place and everything has gone downhill from there /lh. But the fact is, that 1. the storytelling was, well not the greatest, and 2. it's major plots all revolved with things that are straight up impossible in vanilla Minecraft. (The Witherstorm still is one of the coolest forces of destruction I've ever seen, but imagine THAT being summonable in the Block Game without mods? no way.) Not to mention the portal halls and world hopping, the specially enchanted flint and steel? Or don't get me started on what MCSM S2 was- if there's too much straying from the base game, the nicher the mechanics and genre get, and the more and more portions of the Minecraft playerbase you lose.

So whoever is producing this Minecraft Movie, kind of has to choose which audience they're going to cater to and which they're going to lose: the general greater movie-watching audience, who are probably only willing to tolerate a more "realistic" movie style or typical storytelling experience, or actual Minecraft fans in the blocky format and the general weirdness of telling a story in Minecraft.

BUT!

A Minecraft TV Show can EASILY solve this conflict of genre!

MINECRAFT YOUTUBE AND MINECRAFT ROLEPLAY LITERALLY ALREADY EXIST!

These are wildly successful! When I'm describing Starlighter I literally tell people I help to make a TV show in Minecraft! This is not new! (The entire reason I got thinking about this was a photo of a fan meeting Aphmau, MumboJumbo, Valkrae, and a few more MCYTs I don't remember, in New Zealand where supposedly the Minecraft Movie is being filmed).

Making an official Minecraft TV Show, whether its on Netlfix or Cartoon Network or something else, narrows down the audience they're having to appeal to to an audience that ALREADY ENJOYS NICHE AND STYLIZED THINGS! Cause this can just be treated as a cartoon! I think of Tangled: The Series or the Big Hero 6 TV show that have their big original original format where the characters are introduced have their serious story, but these cartoons are allowed to be more stylized and silly (and yes ofc they have their serious plot but it's not the same as the formality of their full movies) or even The Owl House that had a darker, more grotesque (not in a bad way) style, but was still wildly successful because the audience for it was already prepared for weird new styles and worlds and don't mind (in fact I think a lot PREFER) unique storytelling styles like what Minecraft kind of needs!

I dont know where I'm going with this I just finally cracked the code of why I can't bring myself to be excited about the Minecraft Movie when I think it's going to be doomed, and it's because it's in the wrong format for what it needs. I can't believe they're reinventing the wheel with this JUST MAKE IT AN ANIMATED TV SHOW MCYT IS LITERALLY RIGHT THERE...

Tbh I'm very glad to see that mcsm fans acknowledge the bad writing of mcsm because the characters have the potential to have depth and complexity but we can't get that because the game doesn't pay attention to that even Jesse despite it being in their story and seeing everything in their eyes and them being the mc they're the most hollowed character in all the game it just really sad how little though they put into Jesse characterization or traits

This is difficult cause!!! So many games I’m into.. and lethal company is especially difficult. Imgonan do this with a few things.

21. (Lethal company) Umm. I think the Bracken being buff muscular guy with ass is kinda too focused on… iget monsterfucking but please .. that poor thing

21. (ieytd) uhm.. can I say aall of the 2nd game 🫣. I don’t not like it. I love it, it’s genuinely fantastic. Just…… it’s popularity continues to overshadow the first and third so much……. John this John that.. he’s a well written villain but so is Prism. So is Solaris. S much as I love .. so much John content. I’d be much happier if the three games were equally talked about. Plea..se……. It is deserving of praise but my goodness ..

22. (Lethal company) some very different things I could say here. People don’t like to focus on employees enough Ithink. There’s so much potential in the messed up nature of the company and growing closer to survive. They r like ants stuck in a death spiral …… gave their name to the fae .. ect. Doomed !!!!!! Where’s my employees cluthcing each other for comfort in the dark of the facility. Tbf there is a lot !!! But idk. Always with other monsters rather than team mates … kicks rock.

So little for those guys. And I constantly see them dragged around, mischaracterized, or completely entirely ignored.

Happy New Year!

Let's hope that this year is more gentle, kind, and comforting to all! The past few years have been rough, so I am hoping & praying that 2023 will the polar opposite!

First fan art of the year! I drew this for my son last month, as he loves Minecraft Story Mode. I had previously drawn the 6 main characters and then the Blaze Rods in my style (please check my gallery/archive to see them). I decided to draw MCSM season 1, episode 7 ("Access Denied"), after the main 4 enter the desert biome & come across those zombies with the glowing eyes. I ran out of room to draw Ivor, though! Jesse is supposed be holding that enchanted sword of his. (I guess it depends on how you chose the character & the weapons, as to how it looked for you.) I find that weapons are hard to draw, even if it is something as "simple" as a sword.

I hope you like this! It's fun to draw the characters in my style, to give them a bit of a semi-realistic style (mixed with my manga/graphic novel style), and also figure out how their outfits may look. I'm not great that backgrounds & environments, so please excuse the background! This was drawn with Sakura Pigma Micron pens, then coloured in with a mix of Copic Markers & Ohuhu Markers. White accents were done with a gel pen. Sparkles around Jesse's sword was done in Photoshop Elements. I also added in the clouds with Photoshop Elements, since the sky came out a bit streaky with the markers. (I may go back to watercolours for backgrounds...I haven't used watercolours in 13 years!)

Okay, so I am a mcsm fan, but at the same time I fell in love with CONTROL recently and it's really exciting to see someone who worked with one of my childhood games currently working with a sequel to another really good game. I don't know what to expect from CONTROL 2, but I can be sure that you and other writers will definitely cook up something cool!
