Megamorph

I think the next DS game I'm going to look into is GX Spirit Caller! The format looks very interesting, with Stratos (called Airman in this game) at 3 and Cyber Dragon being a main deck staple. It's a very different game from the World Championship series, instead being evocative of Nightmare Troubadour, except with a real cardpool. The elephant in the room though, is the same elephant that was in Nightmare Troubadour, Cyber-Stein being legal at 3. Stein warps the deck building meta around it, and it can be hard to justify playing anything besides Stein OTK decks on a practical level, especially since Megamorph is also unlimited, and Last Will is legal at 1. I've come up with a couple Stein builds I think are actually cool, being a Stein-Horus deck that takes advantage of Last Will and a Dragon-Stein deck based around how a lot of the cards that support Stein also support Lord of D., but I'm gonna try to avoid relying on it too much for the sake of variety. Beyond Stein, the set of three each of of Cyber Dragon and Elemental Hero Stratos provides a powerful offensive backbone to any deck, especially fusion based ones, which typically struggle with that if they don't open well. Cyber Dragon has three different fusion monsters you can make with it, and Stratos can be used to search Elemental Hero Sparkman, which when paired with King of the Swamp can make either Thunder Giant, or my go-to, Shining Flare Wingman. There's something fascinating about seeing Shining Flare Wingman be this accessible even outside Elemental Hero decks, and it really enhances the early GX aesthetic of this game!

despite the fact that the pdfs are literally available for free online I’ve spent the last two ish years trying to collect every single Animorphs book through finding them by chance at thrift stores and bookshops and only then will I allow myself to indulge in the series from beginning to end. I only have 15 books left please clap

in your opinion, what was the most messed up moment in animorphs? either most shocking, weird, gross, horrific....however you want to answer
The scene I've always found most viscerally disturbing is Ax and Marco on the Normandy beach on D-Day (MM3). It's the soldiers rushing the beach in waves, "Like cattle going down the chute to the slaughtering floor. But, of course, cattle don't know what's corning. Humans do... And they still came." It's the way Marco sees every murdered soldier "Like Jake. Cassie and I had sworn to protect him. But there'd never even been a chance." It's Ax being awed by the simple act of the medic being killed "while trying to save a man he must have known was doomed."
The two coldest and most aloof Animorphs are reduced to "crying, sobbing" and "digging in the sand" at their inability to make sense of the battle. It's Ax desperately wanting this to be Visser Four's fault, because surely this can't be the way history is supposed to happen. By the time Rachel is dropping grenades, we understand her sheer desperation to make it stop, regardless of the cost.
That said, maybe I find that one so impactful because it's a real event. My grandfather fought in that war, my distant cousins died in that war. I don't have the same visceral fear of turning into a spider that I get from "Bullets entered organs by neat, round holes and came out in a shredded mess... One second they were scared and brave and alive. The next second they were dead."
Anyway, everyone's mileage may vary, and if someone else has a different contender then toss it out there.

That woman in the woods wasn’t crazy, she was trying to get Rachel to say the secret phrase that escaped hosts who get sent her way are supposed to know and instead Rachel picked up a piece of bark and pretended it was a credit card so she was like ‘i’m going to lock this bitch in the basement’
Like a reasonable person

i feel like i certainly would have remembered reading a book in which rachel lost her memory and then got both her arms ripped off by a morph sensing dust monster with too many teeth while she was in grizzly bear form but honestly who knows. i'm going to choose to believe i never read it for the sake of relishing the novelty of encountering new animorphs material in the year of our lord 2023

Sometimes I remember that Cassie is canonically a multiversal anomaly who can't exist in other timelines for extended periods of time without the timeline itself collapsing and changing to be more like her own

Do you have any personal favorite crossover aus :3 ?
Of the ones I haven't written, my favorites are @featherquillpen's/Poetry's The Hork-Bajir Job (Animorphs and Leverage) and Teach Me How to Say Goodbye (Animorphs and Hamilton).
If you're asking about ones I have written, I'd say I'm happiest with the end result of Yellowjackets fusion and the Black Sails fusion, but I had the most fun writing the Pixar AU and the Animorphs-Animorphs crossover.

cannot believe i was about to forget to mention to y’all that eli shane and burpy from slugterra are romantically soul-bonded and because of this when burpy is shot under specific conditions he is able to achieve untold levels of power on the same scale as multiple slugs transforming at the same time to cause a chain reaction.
