I'm so freaking excited! To be editing my AU Methan endgame ending! I'm nerely finished making myself a little scenepack for edited scenes that I'll be using for the edit.
The plot of it is: Mg has romantic feelings right from the beginning, whilst Ethan moreso values their friendship and doesn't reciprocate right away. However its hinted that he does have repressed feelings but doesn't know how to express them.
He tries to hide his feelings by taking interest into Lizzie but its futile, he then lies to Mg about it. When he finds out he's pissed and refuses to be friends him again but inevitably he forgives him
Later on once Mg confesses his feelings for him, not knowing how to react Ethan walks away.
After some long periods of self reflection, Ethan decides that it's best if he puts some distance between him and Mg.
Mg agrees until Kaleb and Penelope talk some sense to him. Mg stops him fearing that it's too late until Ethan gets off the bus
Once the edit is done I'll be sure to post it on here and twitter 💙💛 #Methan4Life

Things my professors have said: chemistry edition, part 6
[part 1] [part 2] [part 3] [part 4] [part 5]
"how are we supposed to extrapolate now? Like this? Like that? Heck if I know!"
[student: professor, there's chalk on your face] "Good! That's proof I actually came to class"
"I think everybody wants to get a conductivity meter for Christmas"
"I was carrying out an organic reaction back when I was a student. Suddenly, the lab instructor came running and yelling at me - apparently, I was on my way to synthesizing nitroglycerin"
*comes to class with a huge mug that says "I ❤️ organic chemistry"*
"I'll email you the results as soon as possible which means I have no idea when"
[in a training video] "I hope you can see everything clearly. We try our best but we're no youtubers"
"I know some of these rules may seem obvious, but please know there's a story behind every one of them. Also, don't steal reagents"
"if you kill your physical chemistry lab instructor, you go straight to hell"
"dinosaurs are a good analogy to resonance forms"
*whips out a methane-shaped plushie mid-lecture*
"look at this resonance structure: we wouldn't want to be this nitrogen, would we?"

Louisiana by MURPHTHESURF
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"But Pudding," you say, "why do I need another swamp world when I have Twinbrook?" To which I say, "Because this one is better."
It's an unpopulated 1024x1024 world, with about 60 total lots, fairly evenly split between residential and community lots. It has a lot of spawners, particularly rock/gem ones, but it has all of them except the Island Paradise and Into the Future ones. Despite the name of the world, I don't think it particularly looks like Louisiana, other than it has lots of water/wetlands. There are lots of fog emitters. You can almost smell the methane.
The lots are either EA lots (possibly edited; I'm not familiar enough with them to judge) or ones that the creator downloaded from other creators and then placed in the world. In particular, many of the lots were created by ruthless_kk, who creates very nice, very detailed, cc-free lots. The creator has meshed the lots together pretty well, so that the world feels cohesive even though the lots came from many different sources. And the scenery that the creator built is lovely.
The world has no CC. As far as I can tell, the Store content that it has is mostly in the lots created by ruthless_kk, and it's all just decorative stuff, so if you don't have it, it's probably not a big deal. Beyond that, I'm pretty sure it requires all EPs except Into the Future. It also needs the Town Life stuff pack because it uses the gym lot from that pack, so if you don't have that pack, that lot will have the wrong windows, and the equipment will be replaced with base game stuff, etc. If you don't have that pack and don't want to fix the lot, you could just plunk down a different gym instead.
There's more pics and info behind the cut, but first: As usual, the title of this post is a link to the world's incredibly useless Exchange page. If you'd rather not deal with the Exchange/the launcher/sims3packs, I have upload a .world file here. If you download the .world file it goes in your game install files under GameData - Shared - NonPackaged - Worlds.
First up, some Edit Town/map view pics of the world. Each set shows roughly half of the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Basically, one half is the more "urban" part and the other half is more rural. So, you can have your sim live in one of the Late Night apartments in the city part. Or they can live in a nice little farm like this one...
Tumblr media
...which is set up as a winery. Or they can live in lovely Victorian/Second Empire house like the one in the pic above the cut, of which there are several in the world. Or they can live in...
Tumblr media
...a swamp shack, complete with its own dumpster and a bayou "beach" in the back. Or they can live in...
Tumblr media
...an ultra-modern place? Yeah, there are two such lots and while they are very nice lots, I don't think they fit in all that well. If I was playing the world I'd replace them. But, if you like ultra-modern houses, there you are.
The world doesn't have an abundance of houses, but the houses that it has are all fully furnished and ready to go, and there are definitely enough of them to get you started. There are a number of empty lots, particularly in two areas of the world that are somewhat unfinished. There are also areas where it would be easy to add new lots. All of which you might want to do because the world has only two lots that are starter-priced, and the swamp shack above is not one of them. The lot on the right side of this pic is one of them:
Tumblr media
So, if you aren't as liberal with the free real estate cheat as I am, you might need more starter lots. But if you are liberal with free real estate, here are a few more of your options:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here are a few non-EA community lots:
Tumblr media
This is a dive bar with a junkyard theme, complete with junk piles in back. (There is an actual junkyard, too.) It has a professional bar, seating, and shuffleboard. Other entertainment in the world includes a a disco, a fusion lounge, and a dance club. It does have the "event center" from Showtime but no other Showtime venues, so those would need to be added if you want to play the Showtime careers.
Tumblr media
This is a nectary, though it's designated as a small park. It has all the grape plants, a little place for weddings, nectar sales, a nectar-making machine, and a "restaurant" with a food register and a buffet table. I'm pretty sure this lot is placed backwards, though, because the back of it faces the road. I don't know if this was done deliberately, but I think it would look better flipped around.
Tumblr media
This is a little comic shop, in a more unfinished section of the city part of the world. It has the science objects from University Life on the top floor.
Other community lots in the world are:
Festival (the Sunset Valley one)
A Chinese garden
A fire station
A gym
A consignment shop
A small resort
A salon
Several parks/fishing spots, including the butterfly dome from Bridgeport
So, there are some common lot types missing -- a beach, a library, a public pool, etc. -- but since there are a good number of empty lots in the world, these could be added, whether you build them yourself or plop down EA or downloaded ones.
Overall, this is a nice world. Parts of it are unfinished with some empty lots placed but not much else. There are some lots that have community designations but are empty. (For instance, there's a lot designated as a public pool, but it's empty.) But the scenery is quite beautiful, and if you need a smallish, ready-to-play world, this might be one for you, especially if you happen to like Victorian-style houses.
We'll finish off with some more scenery pics, because it's a pretty world.

Things I’ve said out of context (June 2023 edition)
* FEEL FREE TO SHARE AS YOU PLEASE, NO CREDIT NEEDED. CHANGE PRONOUNS OR ANYTHING ELSE AS DESIRED.
The creature has finally appeared.
Hate this. Fucking hate this. Goddamn fucking hate this.
Yeetus deletus.
My room might be getting dangerously close to becoming 50% methane.
Don’t tell me you too are intimidated by the mcnuggies.
[name] literally so brain blunted that he doesn't even realize he's naked on a beach until someone specifically points it out to him. It’s perfect.
How are you supposed to prove you’re better than [name] by jobbing?
WHAT ARE THEY SCORING FOR?
AH I SEE. PUT YOURSELF INTO A POSITION WHERE IT DOESN’T MATTER.
[name] going for blocks like he’s playing in 800 ping.
It's only when a ball's flying towards his face that [name] remembers how to dodge.
[name] ACTUALLY DEFENDED THE GOAL? THE FUCK?
Shit’s lit.
Bruh got bullets put up his ass for saluting a fallen comrade.
RING FINGER. WHAT WAS EVEN THE POINT THEN?
How many times in a row can [name] get thrown through a glass display case.
How many times can [name] get hit by a car.
Although ACTUAL WATER BULLET PHYSICS had me thoroughly entertained at least.
So it's starting to get a little creatively bankrupt in the "Let's find new ways to physically hurt [name]" department.
So I might be making a little fucky wucky.
Oh holy shit. We actually have Korean BBQ.
If I die in the next 24 hours, you’ll know why.
I feel marginally more awake than I did before. Marginally.
PUSHING BUTTONS.
WAIT, BUT I THOUGHT YOU WERE EATING DONUTS. WERE YOU EATING, LIKE A MARTIN LUTHER OR SOMETHING? A BURGER SANDWICHED BETWEEN TWO DONUTS?
This sounds like some SS13 shit.
I don't think the Bang did shit for me. I am right back to feeling like I did before I drank it.
I am also in the shrine. My shrine.
Everyone can’t wait to not play it.
Why can’t we get Gary Busey in DBD?
I hope she ass gets the poetic justice treatment.
I'm just trying to watch a Japanese man spend 3 days in a net cafe room. I ain't ask for a near 3 hour ad.
I offer you nothing more than the silence of shame at that pun.
Bros, you want a cheap ass Keurig with Pokemon stickers slapped on it?
This isn't even the weirdest Japan thing I've seen today.
I literally just watched a video about anime VN video games made about Uno.
I know I do literally no damage, but my self-sustain though.
[name] apparently made Clara so strong that she broke her internet.
Here's everyone's regular reminder that Lucina and Kaine have the same voice actress.
My source may be that I'm making this the fuck up, but how else do you explain it?
You don’t know what powers you invoke.
I just had to fucking double check to make sure I didn't just somehow make it up in my own head.
Let me just firmly root myself in reality for a moment.
This exists. We can all confirm this is a thing that exists.
The Jhammel’s just gonna grow its head into the giant voidgate on the moon, look Zeromus dead in the face, and call him a bitch.
Time to interrogate everyone you know.
For once, a batshit comedy anime gave me practical knowledge.
Time to fucking burn the chair.
Because when you steal from the criminals' monetary depository and then suddenly turn around and try to pay them back for the same exact amount that got stolen, they're going to most likely put two and two together.
WHO WANTED MORE SMALL SOLDIERS?
Things are beautiful just before they die, struggling until the very end.
Let me make something clear here: Just because 2 out of 3 of us aren’t a threat doesn’t mean I’m still not a threat.

So speculative evolution...
That last poll about what you all want from a fantasy field guide was my cunning plan to work out where to focus my efforts as I push to try and finish this project. I was expecting a good mix of responses but the science option won by a landslide!
Most of Dracones Mundi is science-based, but I have taken a shortcut in dragon flight, making that a magical aspect of dragon biology. Magic isn't too scientific so I ask...
I am not adding other options or encouraging people to come up with their own ideas as these are my dragon designs and I want to keep to my own ideas (so I am not doing biological dragon blimps with hydrogen/methane or giving them powered wing flight like pterosaurs or birds etc.). The end result will likely be a mix of all three of these, unless the magic idea loses by a landslide in which case it'll only be a mix of the latter two.
For those new to the Dracones Mundi project - dragons fly by levitation magic produced in fatty tissues throughout the body. In mammal bodies, brown adipose tissue produces heat using the electron transport chain. In dragon bodies, thaumagenic adipose tissue produces magic using the same mechanism. Magic energy helps them interact with magic current in the air helping them fly. This is just fantasy with science jargon thrown at it, I am wondering if this magic explanation is too magical and science fans might appreciate something more grounded in reality?

Good News From Israel
In the 13th Nov 22 edition of Israel’s good news, the highlights include:
Israeli nitric oxide device helps hospitalized Covid-19 patients recover.
Israeli surgeons repaired the heart of a Syrian baby flown in from Cyprus.
Huge number of Israeli climate-tech and food-tech innovations.
Record number of tourists return to Israel.
Israeli technology powers UK retail giant’s autonomous stores.
Israeli runner is NYC Marathon runner-up.
Read More: Good News From Israel
Tumblr media
In the Book of Ecclesiastes, it states that there is nothing new under the sun. While that may be strictly true, Israeli innovations are certainly making good use of the sunshine to generate pollution-free energy and grow food to feed a hungry world.
This week's positive Israel news includes using solar energy to produce hydrogen from water, generate water out of the atmosphere, power buildings using solar paint, and create zero-emissions Israeli factories. Israelis are designing solar power plants on the Moon, installing solar panels in farms, and creating solar water heaters that operate in cold climates. Israelis are using the sun's rays to grow micro-algae, create natural sugar substitutes, and boost crop yields. They even allow impoverished Lebanese farmers to harvest Israeli olives. To maintain clear skies, Israeli technology reduces the fuel used by ships, creates "green" ink for printed circuits, cuts methane emissions from cattle, grows coral reefs, and converts CO2 into minerals for the glass industry.  It is therefore not surprising that the improved environment has attracted more rare, endangered species to the Israeli coast.
The photo (TY Sharon) is of olives ripening under the Jerusalem sun.

jsyk, it was very cool seeing you in the Moth video :3 I am both fascinated and horrified by the implications of that section. But also, I have *such* a weak spot for gentle death type characters like yours seemed to be <3
Thank you!!! <3 I'm glad you liked it, I had a great time!
Moth asked me a few months ago to make a character for c!moth's dream realm, hence Anathema's campfire story, and I a) also like gentle death type characters, b) have an enduring interest/obsession in specifically water fairies (like kappa, water horses/kelpies/capaill uisce, rusalka) and c) wanted something that would... interact interestingly with cMoth's Whole Deal. This character was specifically meant to be The Minecraft Mob Version of a qallupilluk, which are known for knocking on the ice and drowning children, and I went with the version of then raising the dead kids? Moth feels very guilty about bodysnatching Anathema even though it didn't do it "intentionally," they don't get along right now, and they both only have memories of resentment, with Anathema feeling like nobody helped him and he was deliberately excluded, which I think contrasts interestingly with a definitely sentient creature going "I killed these kids, I'm going to keep doing it, I don't feel bad about it because clearly nobody cared about them before if nobody warned them I was here killing kids, and I love them very much"?
edit: also as kids my cousins and I had a lot of fun lighting methane bubbles in bog ice, which is why there's so many soul campfires! you know how will o'the whisps are often in bogs? ice version of that

"uranium apex days"???? Please explain if you don't mind! This sounds amazingly weird.
Buckle up, my good anon!
So a good friend of mine (I can't remember his tumblr username right now, we mostly chat on Discord) went file diving and found folders assigned to each of the races, with another folder inside labeled with some chemical notation. I can't remember all of them but Hylotl had H2O, Glitch had Fe, Floran had CO2, and Avians had methane of all things. Apex were U for uranium. Maybe humans were oxygen. Can't remember if Novakid were in there or not.
Well it sort of makes sense for it to be an element they need somehow, hylotl need water to live, plants breathe carbon dioxide... who even knows for methane but yeah glitch are metal / iron, right? But. Uranium. What even?
Friend and I realized hang on a hot second, uranium has modern uses in genetic editing! What are apex but a genetically edited whole species?!
Nutter that I am, I took this a step further and suggested maybe they have specifically uranium 238 in their bloodstream instead of a cellular immune system like humans have. Because why not? It's more efficient on an energy basis (outsourcing the work), weak enough to not destroy cells that have adapted to it while still destroying simple viruses and bacteria, their thick skin and fur could somehow block it from radiating their whole environment, and the extra heat would be a beneficial adaptation on their preferred arctic worlds. Radioactive planets would still be a danger since it could make that U-238 transmute into highly dangerous plutonium 239, so it didn't break canon. Probably.
In case you were wondering why my apex are so nice warm and snuggly to be around~
Yeah, I'm a tad bonkers.

'Minecraft' Mod Fosters a Collaborative Effort against Climate Change
A Minecraft modder has introduced new gameplay issues for players to deal with in the form of climate change. Nick Porillo's GlobalWarming mod alters the atmosphere by adjusting certain actions, such as melting ores. As climate change becomes more prevalent and temperatures rise, the temperature will increase. This will lead to an increase in carbon dioxide emissions, which can cause intense storms, forest fires, and an increase in snowfall.
You can fight the changes to the atmosphere by planting trees to absorb carbon dioxide. To combat the issue on a greater scale you can buy carbon offsets, which give other players a bounty of trees to complete -- which is in line with one of the themes of working together to combat climate change.
"If the majority of players don't agree that they will be near-carbon neutral in their play and the carbon score of the game will only rise." If the damage is detrimental to the players, they'll begin to pay back the debt that they incurred," Porillo told Motherboard. "The idea is that if players put in a little more effort in from the start to not release a ton of carbon dioxide, they will avoid having to be paid later." Premium Content For Premium People
He is planning to add more features, such as a scorecard which allows you to determine who are the most carbon-neutral players, find your carbon footprint and add methane as a greenhouse gas. The mod is compatible with Minecraft's Server Java Edition and you can download it from GitHub.

NPR.ORG
Nov. 14, 2022
In the fight to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, one of the longstanding challenges has been figuring out who is exactly producing them and how much.
Now, a new global tracker is helping to make clear exactly where major greenhouse gas emissions are originating. Created by the nonprofit Climate Trace, the interactive map uses a combination of satellites, sensors and machine learning to measure the top polluters worldwide.
It observes how much greenhouse gases — carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide — are being emitted at specific locations, such as power plants and oil refineries. Former Vice President Al Gore, who is a founding member of the initiative, said it is meant to serve as a more reliable and accurate alternative to companies self-reporting their emissions estimates.
"Cheating is impossible with this artificial intelligence method, because they would have to somehow falsify multiple sets of data," he told NPR's Michel Martin on All Things Considered.
Gore recently returned from Egypt where world leaders have been convening to discuss the climate crisis at the annual U.N. climate conference, also known as COP27.
He believes the tracker will help countries stick to their pledges to reach net-zero greenhouse emissions by 2050.
Climate Trace wants to track nearly every big source of greenhouse emissions
The emissions tool employs over 300 satellites; sensors on land, planes and ships; as well as artificial intelligence to build models of emission estimates.
Right now, it tracks about 72,000 of the highest emitting greenhouse gas sources. That includes every power plant, large ship and large plane in the entire world, Gore said.
And that's just the beginning. By next year, Gore hopes to be tracking millions of major emitting sites.
"We will have essentially all of them," he said.
Gore said 75% of the world's greenhouse emissions come from countries that have made pledges to become carbon-neutral by 2050. "Now that they know exactly where it's coming from, they have tools that will enable them to reduce their emissions," he told NPR.
He added that the database, which is free and accessible online, can help inform countries about how much pollution is being emitted by the companies they are working with or considering working with.
It is not enough for companies to self-report, he said. For instance, Climate Trace found that the oil and gas industry has been significantly underreporting its emissions.
"We found their emissions are three times higher than they have been telling the United Nations," Gore said.
In the U.S. specifically, oil and gas producers have underreported how much methane they've been releasing, recent research suggests.
That doesn't mean companies were intentionally cheating, Gore added. However, he said underreporting prevents governments and the public from staying on track with their net-zero pledge.
Six regional governments in Mexico, Europe and Africa have already entered into working agreements for using the tool, Gore said.
Gore remains optimistic about the climate future
The world is generally off track from its goal of cutting emissions that drive climate change, but Gore said he's been impressed by recent efforts around the globe to address the issue.
In the U.S., Gore pointed to the Inflation Reduction Act, which includes over $360 billion to tackle climate change and incentivizes consumers to make greener choices. Gore described the law as "the biggest climate legislation in the history of the world."
He also praised Australia for voting in a new government that pledged to shift away from coal and Brazil for electing a new president who vowed to stop destroying the Amazon.
"So there's great danger, but there is hope," Gore said. "If we can summon the will to act."
