Vegetarian mezze! Going clockwise from the top; gigantes plaki (kinda like baked beans but bigger and Greeker and spinach-er), halloumi, courgette, beetroot and potato salad, and salad salad with a blob of yoghurt. Delish 👌

Café Caravan, 4459 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles (East Hollywood), CA 90027, Score: 41/50
Tumblr media
Café Caravan is a casual Moroccan café that took over the old Caffe Vita space and opened recently. The laptop campers have already found it. Order at the counter and get a number. They’ll bring your order to you.
Score: 41/50
Food: 4/5 – The pastries are from Clark Street. They serve mezze (e.g, salad, hummus, Merguez sausage), soup, breakfast, and sandwiches. You can get an Egyptian breakfast that includes a cumin egg, fava beans, tomato, chermoula, lemon & lavash. The baguette sandwiches are premade. My hummus sandwich with pickled carrots and pickled cabbage was good but seemed overpriced ($15) and pretty simple. I don’t think they have a real kitchen.
Coffee: 5/5 – They serve drip coffee, espresso drinks, cold brew, Moroccan mint tea, etc. The coffee is from Unincorporated Coffee. The Moroccan coffee ($6) was small but very good – stronger coffee flavor, milk (like a cortado – equal parts espresso and steamed milk), spiced syrup, and a sugar cube. It tasted like star anise.
Wi-fi: 5/5 – Free, unlimited, ask for the password. Seemed fast and stable.
Ambiance: 5/5 – Two floors, white walls, brick accents, tons of pillows, exotic but comfy Moroccan feel
Noise: 4/5 – Relaxing music with an international flair
Plugs: 1/5 – They positioned the furniture to make it hard to use the outlets
Parking: 3/5 – Can usually find something in the neighborhood, all day or 2 hour street parking
Comfort: 4/5 – Small tables, plush banquettes, can get warm by the windows
Bathroom: 5/5 – Two nice ones with Moroccan decor
Art: 5/5 – Painting of a Moroccan scene, someone leading a camel in the dessert
Tips: It’s very popular with campers. Some outdoor seating available. Natural wines coming soon.
