IPL AMA
Tumblr media
On Feb. 10 via pikabu, Ice-Pick Lodge answered some questions! With a bit of a lovely introduction:
"A new day has begun. In the theater, the Masks have completed the rehearsal, the people from the Termitary are out for a smoke break, and in the Broken Heart tavern they wipe down the glasses."
"... let's ask ourselves the most popular question: Will Daniil come? Yes, we've already bought him a ticket."
"Ask, for we hear."
I translated some Q&As and thought some folks might be interested. They answered questions about the Bachelor, Backer Rewards, Franz and The Void (Turgor). I'm used to videogame communities where, like, five youtubers instantly jump on the smallest scrap of information, so find below a summary of these topics.
BACHELOR ROUTE:
The game has largely gone through pre-production and almost everything has entered the pre-alpha stage, or is in the alpha itself. Currently, they are scripting quests and creating locations and models. Before the Haruspex's route came out, there was access to the alpha, but IPL doesn’t want to write checks it can’t cash, so to speak, so nothing is promised for the Bachelor. Preparing an alpha to show to the public is something that requires its own kind of polish, and they will try to see a public-alpha through, but if not - they might settle for another kind of presentation. Here's some speculation: I believe that IPL has a rough release date for the Bachelor, or one will come soon, that they won't announce. I think they have all of the mechanics down, and now what is left is the aesthetic; as they said, the models.
FRANZ:
SOON. That’s the impression, at least. They have an internal release date, but the reason why they haven’t announced anything yet is because it needed more testing and how it’s going to be distributed on digital platforms was reconsidered. That’s a general theme, here. They have internal dates for ideas, for projects, but the rule of thumb is generally that something will step in the way and they don’t want to make promises they can’t keep. In the meantime, look forward to a future video about the creation of the game and more devlogs.
Also … Interacting with Franz, whether out of anger or care, will naturally require more interaction. Franz is also capable of forgiveness. Step gently.
THE VOID:
No current plans to remaster or recreate or VR-ify or revisit or republish The Void. There have been thoughts on transferring it to mobile because the controls may function well there, but monetization is a bridge they’d need to cross and they’re not there yet.
BACKER ITEMS:
They’re coming !!! In some cases, they’re here !!! Customs can get in the way, is all, but people have gotten their items. Almost like proof, a person posted in the AMA that they received all of their items but also got an extra item - a white card with the black letters r f n e ? Upon asking what it was or what it meant, the response by IPL was basically: Ask the Townsfolk :) The promised book is also making some headway and is being written by Dybowsky and someone else they employed, but they don’t want it to interfere with the Bachelor’s campaign, so progress is ultimately minimal.
MISC:
The dev team is doing well :) There was mention that they’ve expanded. There is also no plan to return the online IPL store. At first, it was a firm no, and then it was a - “not yet.” (I think.) There was also this weird allusion to the Bachelor coming by train, soon? That they had bought him a ticket and he would be arriving? That’s beyond me.
That's all. If anyone has questions, I am here. All the time. Constantly. I wonder when the Bachelor will arrive by that aforementioned train.

literally it's 3am where i live and i'm on mobile but FUCK IT i haven't posted any actual writing in like a YEAR on this blog whose description include the words "I WRITE" and i can't tell if i'm even going anywhere with this so fuck it under the cut is the prospective absolute mess of the first chapter of the flipo family time loop fic. (for clarity, flipo family as in slime, mariana, and juanaflippa) this covers loop 0, aka the relevant parts of canon. words: 1630
parts of it i popped off with and other parts i hate; up to you to identify them. also the italics and other formatting got erased when i copy pasted and i'm re-adding all of it by hand so if i missed a spot, no i didn't. if i missed an accent on a letter in spanish that was a typo, if i missed a ¡ or ¿ that may have been on purpose.
oh and for obvious reasons, content warning for mentions and mild descriptions of child death and child murder. no blood, and most of it is a three word mention; i'd say the brief paragraph beginning "Tilín didn't scream" is most of the reason this warning exists.
Charlie Slimecicle stepped off the train.
He’d been hoping for a bright, sunny day to start their vacation, but was sorely disappointed. The portal had apparently taken them pretty far, since they’d gone from noon to night time. Talk about jetlag. They hadn’t even been on a plane.
“What happened to the other guys?” he wondered aloud as he stepped onto the platform.
“Yeah no clue,” Phil said, scanning the empty station. “Thought they’d meet us here.”
“Guys!” one of the Spanish speakers--Vegetta, he’d said, when they’d all met up at the first station--called, from a lectern at the wall. “There is a book!”
They crowded around as he read the instructions aloud--something about pressure plates, Slime wasn’t paying that close of attention. He was a little more preoccupied with making sure it only felt like his brain was dripping out of his ears. That would be kind of embarrassing.
Which was not to say that he wasn’t enjoying the constant onslaught of people talking over each other using words he may or may not understand. In fact, it was the opposite; he was frankly thriving in the absolute chaos that kicked back up around him as a timer appeared in the wrist communicators they’d been provided along with their tickets.
“Como se dice ‘we are going to die now’?” He giggled, chasing Phil and Fit to one end of the station.
“¡Vamos a morir!” shouted Spiderman, echoed seconds later by the black bear in the collared shirt.
Giddy over the high of attempting to use his high school foreign language for the first time maybe ever, Slime absolutely didn’t contribute much to solving the puzzle, and before long the sound of the timer ticking down was accompanied by a loud buzzing alarm.
“It’s been an honor!” he shrieked at the top of his lungs. “It’s been an honor!”
The bear ran past them again, shouting, “I’m going to die!” in English this time.
“Adiós amigos!” Slime yelled.
The countdown ended.
And then his communicator buzzed, and there was a video playing on the screen, showing a cartoonish yellow duck in front of a blurry beach stock photo. He skimmed it absently--some generic welcoming message and another side quest for them--distracted by Maximus audibly losing his shit laughing across the station.
“Come on, I’m trying to take a vacation, I gotta work now?” Fit complained. “This is ridiculous.”
Slime wanted to jump on that bit, but the message cut off with coordinates marred by static and the noise of the emergency weather alert system and he lost his train of thought completely.
“I got the English book!” Spreen called, holding it with two fingers like it had personally offended him.
“English leader,” Vegetta said, seeming to find that amusing.
“English leader.” Spreen laughed and flicked the book away. Slime stepped back but somehow it still nailed him in the chest.
“Guess I’m reading then,” he said cheerfully.
“In Spanish?” Maximus said.
“Um.”
Vegetta called something, backing across the plaza with the book open in his hands. Phil backed up to the wall.
“Here,” Phil instructed, “we’ll read it here.”
“Okay okay.” He flicked it open. “So we have to get water wheel planks--”
Their peace lasted a grand total of thirty seconds as voices suddenly began shouting, overlapping in chaotic chorus.
“What is that?” Fit demanded.
“Is that coming from the other side?” Phil stared up at the top of the wall.
“This is the thinnest thick wall I’ve ever seen,” Slime said, giddy laughter bubbling out of him again. “Is this thing made out of pencil shavings? If I sneeze on it, is there gonna be a hole?”
“Nevermind, we’ll read it over here.” Phil dragged them away again, but the Spanish speakers were dispersing into the trees.
“Forget the book,” Fit said, “follow them!”
(In the end it was explosives that took the wall down, which in hindsight was a precursor to how a not insignificant portion of time on the island was spent. The first day, however, it was just funny, much like everything else.)
(That was to say, the first first day.)
The communicator had indicated that today there was something special planned, so he made an extra effort to wake up.
“Morning Jaiden!” he called to his upstairs neighbor.
“Hi Charlie!” He could hear her farming through the wall. “Glad you woke up on time!”
“Well you know, you know, El Backflipo couldn’t miss it,” he joked, sifting through his backpack. “Got any spare food? I’ll trade you uno backflipo.”
“I have so much toast, come here and get some, free of charge.”
With a quick backflip and some toast to start the day, he popped open the map.
“There’s a lot of people down the wall,” he noted, their green dots so clustered they formed one. “Wanna check it out?”
“Yeah sure.” Jaiden tossed some seeds into a chest. “Do you know what this event’s gonna be?”
“I have no idea,” he admitted cheerfully.
She laughed. “Yeah, me neither. I guess there’s an egg involved, but that’s all I know.”
He dug around in his backpack for a paraglider, nodding along. “Yeah, yeah, un huevo, I get you.” Shuffling the landmine from Vegetta to one side, he yanked out his glider and threw himself out her window. “Let’s go!”
(nothing like getting struck by lightning to wake a guy up in the morning)
Slime fiddled with the communicator as he waited for the line of people to get through the ticket machine; he already had his own, a nice B for Backflipo. The new live translations still boggled his mind. He had to fight the urge to chant weird shit under his breath, just to see what the bubbles would say.
He paid a little extra attention when Mariana walked up to the machine. That guy seemed cool. They’d done that pequeño dormir together on day one, and he had a good sense of humor. Egg parenting would probably be funny.
He was thrilled to see the B for Backflipo on the ticket Mariana stepped away with, even if Mariana was decidedly less so. This was gonna be good.
(it was, and it wasn’t)
So, Mariana wasn’t exactly the coparent of dreams. Then again, Slime was pretty sure Mariana could say the same about him. In fact he was pretty sure Mariana had said the same, but in Spanish, when he wasn’t checking the translation.
It was great. They thought they’d killed a child immediately and then decided to fake their own child’s death to get away with it, and then confessed their sins to a bilingual angel and built a farm and then he buried himself beneath an improvised cross and went into a coma until his sins were forgiven, or something, except his sins weren’t forgiven in time to save his own child’s life.
And then Juanaflippa was dead. Dead at Mariana’s hand.
His bitch wife killed their daughter.
(Everything went faster, after that.)
Slime wanted to kill him.
Slime wanted to kill him for killing their fucking daughter, but of course, Mariana couldn’t even be bothered to be around to take care of her alive, never mind to pay for his crimes when she died by his hand!
(in a better world, his rage started and ended there. in a better world, the anger fizzled out with the lack of a target.
this was not that world)
There couldn’t be an Egg Event with no eggs.
If he killed them all, it would bring her back.
(in a worse world, he succeeded. in a worse world, the Egg Event ended there.
this was not that world)
They held a trial.
If he won, it would bring her back.
(in another world, he didn’t convince them. in another world, they left his daughter in Hell.
this was not that world)
Tilín was still before she hit the ground.
Tilín didn’t scream. Maybe they didn’t have time. It happened so fast. He was sure it happened fast. Almost too fast. But everything went so fast, now, even though Flippa was back. Yet, time slowed down for this, like a rubberneck driving past a highway accident, watching him desperately trying to shock their heart back into motion.
“YOU KILL MY BEST FRIENDS,” Flippa wrote. He begged her to understand. She wrote, “i can’t believe it.”
She wrote, “I HATE YOU.”
(in a better world, the error would have been caught in April instead of July.
this was not that world)
His daughter fell to his bitch wife’s sword. The same way. The next day.
They’d only just gotten her back. And Mariana killed her again.
He only left eggxile for the funeral. She wouldn’t stay dead, but he had to be there.
Time went even faster after that. He was Gegg, or maybe Gegg was him, or maybe Gegg was Gegg, or maybe. . . ?
He went back to eggxile.
He wasn’t leaving without them. Tilín. Juanaflippa. He would do whatever was necessary. He would pray to any higher power. Lil J still owed him a goddamn favor, but the guy wouldn’t pick up his calls. Maybe if he put more shit in the shrine; angels liked shiny shit, didn’t they? He went back to the mine, where the gasses swirled in his head. He built the shrine. He mined. He built the shrine.
He went back to the mine.
He went back to the mine.
He went back to the mine.
“This is where I sit, this is where my bitch wife sits, and this is where my daughter sits, if I had one!”
He’d said that before. No he hadn’t. Yes he had.
No, he just needed to clear his head.
Charlie Slimecicle went back to the mine.
Charlie Slimecicle stepped off the train.

Ah yeah great experience getting home from my parents today., Usually would take 5 hours and one switch of trains, took nine hours and 5 changes. Partly it was their fault and partly.... I guess my body's fault. So I was planning to go to a concert today in Osnabrück. Kinda half way between Berlin and Duisburg. Great, it's of course longer, but fits well. Booked a train from Berlin to there. Was planning to stay at a hotel with a friend and take regional trains, which I already have a month pass for tomorrow. Would take a while but sure, no issues, I would leave whenever.
Well I got sick. Like not super bad, I think I will see a doctor tomorrow, too much to go to the concert. But I have the ticket. It's a physical ticket. So either it goes to wasate or I go to Osnabrüclk, which is now with wanting to go home a detour. But whatever not a big thing. At 8:54 I get into the S-Bahn to the trainstation to take the IC, I get on. We start to move, we move slow. We arrive Berlin main station. We are standing. We are told the train is broken, we need to leave. Next option, a train to Hannover. Well I would have needed to take a train going through Hannover anyway, it's half an hour later, I get on the train and figure, I will figure something out in Hannover.
I arrive in Hannover. The train was almost on time. Like maybe 3 minutes late. Which ist absolutely on time for Deutsche Bahn. I get off, I check my App. It's 45 minutes for the next train to Osnabrück. I briefely consider going straight home but it's just a bit of a detour, it will be fine, I wanna get the ticket sold and I wanna see my friend at least for a moment.
It's a regional train, slow, stops at every small town, no room for my huge suitcase, I hold it between my legs. I have downloaded a tatort episode with my mobile data, transferred it to my Laptp which I'm now balancing on top of my suitcase.
I would have 8 minutes to hug my friend, give her the ticket and get from platform 4 to platform 12, already not really optimistic. Trains there home leave once an hour. My train arrives 3 minutes after my connecting train leaves. We go to McDonalds. I'm still sick and have not slept well at my paren't house and christmas is fucking exhausting. I get tea. It's 2,69, surprisingly cheap. I'm downloading another tatort episode. I have now downloaded over 1,5GB today, it's fine, the month is almost over.
The next train is on time. weird thing to happen but I take it. I find a place to sit and put my suitcase under the seat, it sticks out. A huge family with a lot of childrern find the seats next to me to sit. They're loud, they run around. I'm still sick. I finisch my Tatort episode. I get inspired and write 700 words of a fic. I'm pressed into the corner, because the children are jumping around. I'm tired, I arrive in Essen, last time changing trains, my connecting train is late, I take an S-Bahn, it takes a little longer, it's only 5 minutes late. I gat off the train at 6pm.
I'm home now. My friend sold my Ticket, I will gop see my docotor tomorrow, hopefully.

Tl;dr I periodically hit a cognitive and emotional threshold where I cannot be static and present in my life and need to do something Drastic and it's usually a dumb Dignity of Uncalculated Risk action like dropping out of college or taking a train to Western Mass/buying a pet mouse/crashing on your best friend's couch until you get sectioned, or getting a tattoo, or impulsively changing your legal name by deed poll at 3 am, or spontaneously booking plane tickets to Estonia, or piercing your eyebrow and having a threesome with a married Russian couple, or smoking m*th with some homeless guys in the park, and since my life has become so small and my mobility both physical and...metaphysical so limited, that impulse is now manifesting as "I need to hit it sexual style with the worst philosophy professor in the city of Chicago, for some reason, or I'll Expire from sheer caged-creature boredom and lack of enrichment in my enclosure and also, of course, the Horrors"
Probably this is a "symptom" of "mental illness" but hey, at least it's not m*th lol

Ireland & Sweden!
This past weekend was my last weekend trip of the semester! It is crazy that the semester is coming to an end. Monday, May 1st was Labor Day in Europe, so we had a four-day weekend. Emma and I went to Dublin, Ireland, and did a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher on Saturday. On Sunday, we flew to Stockholm, Sweden, and spent one day there. We got back to Florence on Monday evening. This post is long, but it is mostly photos!
This weekend was definitely a whirlwind of travel. On Thursday night, we took a train to Bergamo and then an Uber to the airport, where we slept until we could get our boarding passes from the Ryanair desk. Since we were leaving the EU, we couldn't get mobile boarding passes and therefore couldn't go past security until 4:30 am. Our flight left at 6:30 am, and we arrived in Dublin at 8:30 am.
We planned out an itinerary for the day since we had pre-booked tickets. We started with a quick donut breakfast!
Tumblr media
Strawberry cheesecake, cookies and cream, and red velvet from The Rolling Donut!
Next, we dropped our backpacks off at a convenience store that had luggage storage.
Our first stop was Dublin Castle.
Tumblr media
The drawing room!
We walked through the small garden and stumbled upon a museum of glass that was free admission!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lifelike sculpture!
After the museum, we walked to Trinity College Library to see the Book of Kells. he book depicts the four gospels and illustrations with beautiful details that are visible even after so many centuries. No photography is allowed of the Book of Kells.
Tumblr media
This is called the Long Room! It reminds me of Hogwarts.
For lunch, Emma and I went to Nando's.
Tumblr media
Chicken sandwich with chips, as they say in the UK.
Our next destination was Saint Patrick's Cathedral.
Tumblr media
It is the largest cathedral in Ireland.
Tumblr media
The church had beautiful stained glass, and I learned a lot about the history of Ireland.
After visiting the cathedral, we walked to the Guinness Storefront.
Tumblr media
The storefront is massive, with multiple floors, and each level explains a different stage of Guinness beer production.
Tumblr media
We got to do a tasting of the beer, which was my first time trying it!
Tumblr media
A free drink was included in the tour, so Emma and I got ciders!
It was around 3 pm when we finished at the storefront, and I started to feel exhaustion kick in. But we powered through and walked to Kilmainham Gaol for the last tour of the day.
Tumblr media
The jail opened in 1796 and closed in 1924.
This was probably my favorite tour of the day, and we learned a lot about Irish history because the jail was home to many Irish revolutionaries.
For dinner, we went to Celtic Nights. It was a dinner and show restaurant where we heard Irish folk music and saw Irish dance! It was so lively, and I was very entertained!
Tumblr media
I had a traditional meal of braised Irish beef and potato soup.
To end the evening, Emma and I got pints of cider in the Temple Bar area. There were so many pubs and people everywhere, a very lively area.
Tumblr media
This is the most famous pub in Dublin!
We went to the Airbnb for an early night because we had another early morning the next day.
On Saturday, we had a tour of the Cliffs of Moher and Galway with the company Wild Rover.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Cliffs of Moher!
In Galway, we got lunch and ice cream first.
Tumblr media
Grilled cheese with cheese, goat cheese, shredded chicken, and red pepper relish! With a side of pesto mayo, so delicious!
We also went to O'Connell's bar, where Ed Sheeran filmed the music video for his song Galway Girl and had a pint.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
The main street in Galway!
Moving on to our day in Stockholm, Sweden on Sunday. We got there in the morning and went to get breakfast!
Tumblr media
Walnut pastry from Fabrique Stenugnsbageri! So yummy!!
Then we went to the Vasa Museum to see a viking ship!
Tumblr media
It was so cool to see! Unfortunately, the ship sank after 20 minutes of its maiden voyage.
We also visited the Abba Museum!
Tumblr media
We saw the clothes they performed in and learned about how the band got together and became so successful!
Tumblr media
Towards the end of the day we went to old town and got dinner there.
Tumblr media
Stockholm is so pretty in the spring!
The long weekend was very fun and packed with lots of activities. We really ended the semester with a bang! I have to say that I am glad I don't have to get on a train, bus, or plane next weekend. Instead I will be soaking up the last of Florence and studying for my final exams.

[Swiss Train] SBB - Why You Would Want to Travel by Train in Switzerland.
Apps to use: SBB Mobile
There are many nice options for your travel: https://www.sbb.ch/en/travelcards-and-tickets/buying-options/saving.html
1. The Scenery
If you’re planning to visit Jungfrau, train will take you to the mountain through a beautiful landscape.
Recommendation for the path: There will be the following posts on this topic.
2. The Reliability (Punctuality)
Swiss trains are punctual and provide the latest possible update for the ETA and delays.
The train was delayed bc there was someone who collapsed on the train. That explained the delay of the train (often Swiss train is punctual like Japanese and Korean trains) Strangely, it took some time for the paramedics to arrive at the next station. In the meantime, it showed 'undefined delay' in the description.
Tumblr media
3. Comfort
The first class (sometimes there's an upgrade.)
Tumblr media
The number 1 shows that this is the first-class seat. The seat has a bigger seat, a charging outlet, and sometimes a personal reading light.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Food on the train 🍷 🧀
The train comes with a nice restaurant cart and one can enjoy some wine and food during the long trip. Using different services make the train trip more fun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sometimes, we used the restaurant seat as we didn’t reserve a seat on the train. The food was good enough and we enjoyed the time on the train.
[tips]
If you have planned your trip, it is economical to book the tickets earlier as you can get a discount. SBB gives a discount incentive to the people who make earlier purchases as they can plan their trains according to the demand.
Toilet: Use it while you’re on the train if possible. Some stations have no toilet and it could be embarrassing if there’s no building around as it is located in the countryside.
Ex. Currently, Mollis and a station in Zurich have no toilet.
FYI, At Basel HB, I had to pay 2 CHF to use a toilet. You can exchange the bill for coins from a machine at the entrance. Interestingly, the men’s restrooms were free of charge (Gratis means free) at that time.

What makes a train journey more interesting? Is it the evening perks of enjoying the adventurous ride through the rural landscape? Let me take it down the other way..When our thoughts are penned down till the last words of experiencing life around us, every journey offers something new to exploit and understand the “moving worlds” around us. It can be anything; the shining lakes basking in the glorious evening sunlight, children waving their hands to the train that slithers away like a snake, wobbling on the rails before approaching the station; the final destination that awaits us to escape into the comfort zone of meeting our friends and family; it is capable enough of melting anyone’s hearts. Don’t forget to have your earphones in between! It can possibly strike a simple essence of magic to all your journeys with music.
You might be wondering where I am going with this blog, opening with an aesthetic paragraph about these travels. But things should get ironical from now on as I need a contrasting statement to start with. Expectations and realities have a great rivalry within us, thanks to our varying perspectives and personalities. Haven’t you seen siblings fighting together for no reason? The same situation.
College life doesn’t feel good every single time, especially when you have a boring day once or maybe twice in a week. What if it’s a Friday? Yes, you are right. A pre-requisite to the weekend life. Celebrating an off-day from all the work chaos is a man-made blessing. I decided to take leave from my teacher for the wrong reasons to bunk her seminar presentations, after noon. Between attending classes every day in my school days to learning the art of bunking classes in college, I grew up. I felt bad but she was sweet enough to let me go. I stayed in the class for a few minutes, talking to my classmates about the pending works next week and decided to catch a bus to the railway station. It was crowded and it ran like a snail through the streets of Alappuzha. When it reached the railway crossing line, my heart gave a shudder as the train which I am supposed to board, crawled to the station platform. Running like a maniac from the seats, I ran to the station counter to book my tickets. The cashier gave me an unwelcoming face, gave me a quick look and said,”Ini sleeper coachil seat kittilla, ninnu pokendi varum”. As if he was cursing me! Crossed the staircase and coming down to the second platform, I got into the train. Gladly, I found a seat in one of the coaches towards the end.
It was a bit noisy in the coach; with aunties and uncles hailing from different parts of the country. There was a family who were coming back from their Goa trip. The Indian trains has this special feature of having a boggy totally owned by a family. Half of the train boggy will be filled with families or friends coming after a long trip in Goa, Gokarna, parts of Karnataka and even in Mumbai. The speciality lies in treating this boggy as their home; children running around, eating together, playing songs and singing together; it’s a gala time. You find these scenarios bit engaging in our country. We are proud of our railways, after all.
It was a soothing Friday evening; people rushing back to their homes. Some were reading newspapers, some were asleep and others were busy looking into their phones. There was no excitement in these people’s faces. Imagine an entire generation of people bowing their heads down to the mobile, eagerly looking for updates and daily information! No one were talking each other or keeping a glance on others; it was them versus their phones. Even I too had to bow down and play a video game in my mobile for an hour. Except the families! They were busy talking, packing their bags and all set for their next stop.
The train, which ran from Lokmanya Tilak to Trivandrum, was infamous for being late. It has a beautiful name – Nethravathi express. The red-coloured bogies ran with all its might for 1500kms everyday and in contrast to its beautiful name, it always had an exhaustive run towards the end. Before entering to Trivandrum, it shows complete dishonest to its passengers for running late. I sat on the edge of the seat thinking about the evening plans of going out and buying Peri-Peri Chicken for dinner. I was truly in love with its taste that i couldn’t wait it to get it. Thinking of it, my mouth became watery of instant salivation, dripping out of my mouth. But what to do, the train ran even slower than that!
There was a middle-aged man who sat next to me. He worked in a government office and lived in Trivandrum. Along with him there were 4 other people, in total – six. The rest of the people were completely unknown to me and they seemed to be relaxed and dozing off till the next station arrived. There was only one woman with us, who too was taking a quick nap every twenty minutes. She got phone calls in between and took over half of the seat, lying down for a nap. The situation seemed to be pretty boring and I had to engage myself in one way or the other with my mobile phone as it was my only solution to interacting with a machine that feels like a human companion at times. (Thanks to the AI technology)
But there was something to be acknowledged throughout this journey. I popped out my eyes to the window to look over the people outside, busy with their own works. How strange it is – minding their own business and running around the streets for their daily chores. There were no children to be seen outside and it felt blank. Just like that! But who cares..The nature gave us beautiful moments that could be etched in our minds for a moment. The running trees and abandoned water bodies gave a cheerful face, welcoming our voyage with complete enthusiasm. They swayed as we went forwards in the train and it felt cheerful to see them in the backdrop of the evening sun. How come these passengers aren’t noticing it? Or are they tired of all these things that they see everyday? Why don’t they find it to be refreshing as they pass though these same fields? Apart from the phone, questions began to interact to me like an anonymous being, searching for answers.
But the hero of this blog is our Nethravathi Express. It ran will all its might till Kollam railway station like a horse, halting at the right moment and then galloping and picking the right speed for the next station. The middle-aged man started the initial perks of talking to the woman near him and showed the chances of human-to-human interaction for the very first time between strangers. He tried to start small conversations with this lady and they talked for sometime. She ran her eyes through her phone and conversed with him, giving one-word answers in between. Apparently, the train ran forward for its next station in Varkala. People began to become less in numbers in the train and the family who was gearing up to reach their home destination began to pack things.
As i spoke in the beginning of this blog, expectations and realities doesn’t cope up well. Irony began to crawl in and our Nethravathi Express gave a predicted twist of running late. Hero turns villain. Yes guys, we are arriving at the last part and certainly, you need a dramatic twist. This train began to get into my nerves and literally, everyone’s nerves I suppose. It started to behave like Sunil Gavaskar all of a sudden. Imagine a batsman on the field who neither smashes a ball for a boundary nor getting dismissed and plays defence all the time! Do you expect the scorecard to rise or not?
Nethravathi stopped here and there between stations towards Varkala and even further. It felt like the train was blaming and complaining itself for running so long and being courteous to other trains to pass by. I looked around. I was getting uncomfortable of this wait...Look, we are just few kilometres away from Trivandrum. I complained about being late to the woman who sat in the opposite seat...the one who took quick naps and talked to the middle-aged man. She heard me and had the same complaint too. She pledged not to take this train when coming from Ernakulam and gave a deep sigh. We talked about the train as it was the cause for our interaction and IRONICALLY, the same train gave us extra minutes to talk to each other besides waiting in stations. Apart from the phone and the little questions I experienced before, I had this lady with me, talking about herself. Dressed in a blue kurta top and a mother of 2 children, she started talking about my studies and I asked about her job; we got to know each other for a small period of time. Nethravathi’s “late gestures” helped us to crack little jokes about this journey.
It felt refreshing to talk to someone in the train about their life, their work, hobbies, likes and dislikes, dreams and a bit of removing the “stranger” barriers within us. We went through them and I found someone who was interesting to know about. The evening sun was planning to set in the West. It’s orange wilderness spread across the sky, weaving a saffron and blue coloured artistry of hope. I showed it to her and she gave a quick smile to it. I was relieved to find someone who loved to watch the world outside the train. Again the train became much slower..and we talked even more. The only good thing the train has done so far, I guess. She have a flower garden near her home and felt comfortable enough to show me those pictures of beautiful flowers. Along with the aesthetics, the woman had enquiries about competitive exams to talk about and we shared doubts regarding the same. Eventually, the train became a factor in getting us to progress the conversation. We added little laughter to all the good things we shared. I got to know her place in Trivandrum and it was famous for hand looms. It was a new information for me which I got from a human being, not through usual Googling. I said from now on, that place is famous because its her native place too. She threw a beautiful smile on me, as beautiful as her flowers.
Nethravathi Express ran into platform no.2 like an exhausted athlete who fell short of the finishing point and completed the race. It completed its grumbling travel and stood affirm as a winner on the platform. The family were getting ready, busy combing their hair and adding perfumes to their sweaty bodies, making sure that they won’t rot in this high temperature in Trivandrum. And finally, we got off the train and the woman rushed back to the foot bridge to reach the entrance. She looked at me and I guess, our meeting was a comfortable one to make her smile even after she left.
The train that delayed our hopes of arriving at the right time turned out to be of good use when it came to interacting with people. I wonder how many of them got chances to talk about certain things that weren’t readily available on a phone. This sociable environment makes each and every journey a thrilling one; and you have the best views of nature outside your windows. No matter whether Nethravathi was a hero or villain; after all, it happens only on a train ride!

Some important tips and tricks for booking bus tickets online
Tumblr media
You may have traveled by car, train or plane many times, but traveling in a bus has its advantages. The bus ride not only provides thrill like a roller-coaster but also provides an opportunity to the passengers to witness the beautiful scenery along the way. But when it comes to online bus booking, many types of challenges arise before the passengers, in this blog, we have discussed some such measures which will make online bus ticket booking easy for you.
Steps to book bus tickets online-
1. There are many online bus booking portals and platforms in India, but IGS Digital Center Limitedbus ticket bookingIt is the best and simplest portal where you can book all types of buses without any hassle.
2. The online interface of IGS Digital Center Limited is very easy and user friendly. To book a bus on this platform, you need to enter basic information like where you boarded the bus, where to get off, and date of journey.
3. Once you fill in all your details, you will see a list of buses going to your destination. You can make bus bookings at your convenience based on the duration of your journey and the prices of bus tickets by using the various filters given in this list.
Things to know before booking bus tickets online:
1. Make sure you are filling the correct information on the online bus ticket booking website.
2. Always keep your mobile phone charged and SIM card active as the bus operator or driver can call you at any time.
3. Finding a pickup point can be difficult at times. Before booking bus tickets online, make sure that the departure point you have entered on the portal is correct. If you are having trouble locating this point, reach this place a little early on the day of travel.
4. Inform the driver of your landing location accurately.
5. During the journey, the bus stops at certain places, for some time, to provide food and bathroom facilities to the passengers. While booking bus tickets online, get complete information about these places from the website.
Onlinebus ticket bookingYou can book different types of buses on the portal some of which are listed below -
1. Volvo AC Buses - Volvo buses are known as luxury rides in India. Booking Volvo buses is very easy through the bus booking service of IGS Digital Center Ltd. Most of the operators listed here offer AC-Volvo buses which are equipped with facilities like Wi-Fi and mobile charging points.
2. Sleeper Buses - If you want complete privacy on the bus while you travel, then sleeper buses are a perfect choice for you. While booking sleeper bus tickets, you can book yourself a berth in the bus and enjoy your sleeping journey. Some sleeper buses also provide passengers with amenities such as Wi-Fi, charging ports, water and individual TV screens. Sleeper buses can be easily found on online bus ticket booking portals.
3. AC Buses - AC buses are no different from Volvo buses, but they are a little less comfortable. Facilities like Wi-Fi, charging port and recliner seats are provided to the passengers in AC buses.
4. Non-AC Buses – Non-AC buses are slightly better than local buses which can be found on online bus ticket booking websites.
5. Local Buses - These buses are better to ride locally, and the cost of tickets for these buses is also very less. Local buses do not have ACs, charging points and comfortable seats and are generally not available on online bus ticket booking websites.
Apart from bus ticket booking, you can easily do hotel booking, flight booking and train ticket booking with the help of online services of IGS Digital Center.

Train, bus & helicopter between home & base camp for Uttarakhand trek
11.04.2024, Thursday.
Three friends met at the station. One of us had actually joined impromptu (on-the-spot) and had managed to get all confirmed reservations (not even RACs)!
Tumblr media
The final packing of the bag concluded a few hours before the journey started.
Tumblr media
My bag weighed 13 kg.
Tumblr media
We alighted at Delhi.
Tumblr media
Another train journey took us to the foothills of Uttarakhand - Kathgodam. We met our fellow trekkers in this train for the first time - Paresh Bhai from Ahmedabad and Govind Bhai from Panvel, MH.
Tumblr media
12.04.2024, Friday.
22:30 The train reached Kathgodam. Our KMVN's hotel TRH Kumaon Dwar just 5 minutes from Kathgodam railway station and we fell off to sleep in the clean rooms.
Tumblr media
13.04.2024, Saturday - day 1 - reporting for the trek.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Our batch of 25 gathered on time and the long journey to Munsiyari starts. It is our base camp.
Tumblr media
On the way, we passed by the Neem Karoli Baba Ashram, Kainchi Dham. It is approximately 3 hours from Kathgodam and 8 hours from Munsiyari. We saw it from the top and the road swirls next to it in the valley. I wish we could have stopped for darshan of this powerful place. Neem Karoli Baba was the avataar of Lord Hanuman. Jay Shri Ram.
Tumblr media
Pandey Lodge at Munsiyari is our base camp.
Tumblr media
The long spacious room accommodated 5 trek mates and it had 2 attached washrooms. The stay was comfortable in the clean room.
14.04.2024, Sunday - acclimatization day.
Tumblr media
YHAI Delhi, the organiser of this trek had arranged a hike to the nearby Nanda Devi Mandir.
15.04.2024, Monday - flag off.
Tumblr media
Our trek starts by a flag off ceremony and we walk into the jungle.
Our trek route will face the Panch Chouli peaks (5 snow clad peaks). And a detailed description of the trek will be given in the blog posts to follow.
Tumblr media
19.04.2024, Friday - group breaks & election day.
Now the plan to RETURN actually started the moment we were seated in the bus from Kathgodam to Munsiyari.
It was election day. And public transport was not easily available. Some of our group members panicked and requested that the acclimatization can be forfeited (dangerous when the trek is an high-altitude one) and thankfully nothing of that sort happened. Members had their flights and trains booked and were apprehensive that they might miss them.
Tumblr media
We had booked our return by helicopter and the ride was my life's first. Many of us had traveled in aeroplanes, but helicopter travel is rare. There is weight limit. Anyone above 85 kg and anyone's luggage above 5 kg would be overweight and will pay INR 100/- per kg. My luggage was was 8 kg above the permissible limit and I had to pay Rs. 800/- more. After taxation and luggage, my total fare for the helicopter ride was INR 4475/-.
The same friend who had booked impromptu tickets, got confirmed helicopter tickets for us.
Tumblr media
The experience was good. It's choppy. No wonder, it is called a chopper 🚁.
The best part of this aerial journey is bypassing the 12 hour road trip, which dehydrated me completely while coming here.
7 antiperistaltic movements and eyes closed tight. Too much.
The 🚁 ride cuts the travel time to just 45 minutes. The pilot doesn't allow any recording even with a mobile. Flight mode is compulsory. He was shouting some instructions inside the cabin with the rotors on and we couldn't hear anything. We just nodded and actually didn't utter a word in the entire flight and gestured to our neighbours about the land formations seen from the top.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yet frankly I did feel nauseous, but thankfully not as bad as the road trip.
From the top, Uttarakhand has only mountains, valleys, towns, and rivers. The mountains are lush green. The rivers are running dry.
Nainital is easily identifiable from the top, with the lake after which it is named and also the other lakes of Nainital.
From the chopper 🚁, when all the mountain ranges ended, our ride ended, with landing in the plains at Haldwani. It was hot and jolted us.
Tumblr media
We had changed our train's boarding point to Haldwani and INR 20/- per head rickshaw (x 3 passengers = 60/-), dropped us to Haldwani railway station, which was just 15 minutes away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Friends parted.
Tumblr media
We took the Kathgodam - Delhi Junction train.
Tumblr media
The train reached Delhi Junction at 3:30 am.
Tumblr media
We rested till 6 am in the waiting room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Delhi has lots of travel options, but we selected to walk the last mile after metro journey to a delicious breakfast at Janpath.
Tumblr media
Now the heat awaits us, but my Delhi friend's plan saved us. Check out what Delhi has in store for us and it will be a pleasant surprise. A ride in my friend's Mercedes Benz!
Check out my trek experience with YHAI at Munsiyari Khaliya Top in Uttarakhand.

Overland to Tokyo Day 3
Hello everyone. After just four hours of sleep I arrived at Budapest yesterday. Even thought the Flixbus did arrive in the end. You still feel like people feel after they arrived in the city.
The next stupid thing was, that the ATM took my "no" as "yes" and transformed 100€ into money that I now had to spend. Without me demanding anything for money. Needless to say that I payd 17€ just as booking fee. Now thats a way to start!
Tumblr media
(stockphoto that I totally own)
I took a cap to the area round the Train station. The Keleti Station itself is amazing and got an modern basement layer that connects smoothly to everything around of it. Also the underground. The people are friendly and so far there was no trouble ahead.
In the end I wasted another 18k for lock up my bags. Thats insane expensive but. Too tiered to bargain... Keleti should have an public shower. But that one was out of order. Urgs.
Tumblr media
(one of the Budapest Keleti entrace Halls. Fancy!)
So I started to kill alooot of time. The smal coffee shops near the station are an nice place to do so. I also walked around till my injured left food told me, that If I continue, I would not fit into the shoe anymore.
I decided to get rid of the remaining Money by changing it back. In Keleti was an Terminal. But before I could speak to them, an young guy asked me if I would like to buy euro. And well. I did. He had by far the best rate in the entire city and since I grew up with euro I was able to be pretty sure, its real money. And if not - I would had to waste it anyway. So I got 40€ of my euros back. Thank you, unknown money laundry man! Too bad he also had no shower to offer :/
Back on track
Tumblr media
(Klumpi in action!)
SO. 4 more Hours till the Train would arrive. I booked my ticket online on the MÀV homepage for bout 35€ with the result that I had not known a Track number. So where to get this number? Well. You can camp in front of the HUGE display and wait till your connection popps up. But I wanted to nap on the right track. Another thing is, that the tracks have ticket-terminals that also allow you to display when trains arrive and depart. And they have an (hidden?) touch feature that allows you to scroll down. It was Track 1. I was even able to see that the train will arrive 2 hours later.
So I went to that track. Yes. It came 2 hours early. But you cannot get into it right now, because they need to change the segments from [locomotive][sitting wagons][sleeping ones] into an order with the locomotive beeing the last one. This took time. So long I tried to find my Wagon by number. Let say, that the sleeping wagons DO have different numbering. You can (or cannot) find it in the windows. It has the size of an Post-it. I decided to take an lower bed in a 4 ppl apartment and seeing how narrow the 6ppl ones are .. Pfew. You did well, past me. You did well!
On board!
I hope you printed the tickets. Sure they have an QR Code and you can see them in the MAV App. But that means nothing. They want, they demand to collect the ticket as a paper. It is generally an good Idea to always print the tickets. Just because an mobile could fail you. Or get stolen.
There are plenty of different Night-Trains from Budapest to Bucharest every day. At least 3. I took this one because I liked the time schedule most, and to my surprise it was a bit cheaper.
NOW I should find out WHY.
Tumblr media
This was not the Night Train from Vienna (Wien) to Bucharest. That one with the dining Wagon. The Showers and new Toilets. That one from all the youtube videos.
No this one was an different one. The older ones ;) So no food Wagon. No water dispensers. No new Toilets. No usb. No Wifi. Not even power plugs and not even light. Yes. Not even light. The 40 years old pulp on the ceiling was illuminating nothing but itself.
Ever had to reject border-policemen asking for more light? No? This is a one in a lifetime chance to get away with it - lol.
But there was Air-Conditioning. It was loud like an main road in the rush hour and you could NOT switch it off. Remarkably there was almost now air coming out of it.
BUT whatever. The first thing all of us did was taking an 3h nap. Looks like really everyone that a rough night before. Then I met Alex. An nice Englishman that lived in Budapest. Since the 3th person, from Poland, was not able to communicate with us, we decided that on night we would open the window, and sleep head on to the opened door. Hopefully having enough air.
We did not. Because it started to rain and blow so hard, that you had to close the window. The tracks got significant worse in Romania. May times the whole train got hit SO hard by something on the ground, that you wake up and believe that this will be the end.
And it was so fucking noisy. Ive seen a v-tuber that complained that suddenly THIS train he took (in Kaszachstan) was very loud and he don't knew why. Okay. Now I understand him.
Still love sleeping trains. In ear headphones ftw. Oh an, the mobile network never went down for longer than minutes. Unbeliveable. In germany you are offline after what? 10 Minutes on track? Gotta love this.
Still alive
Tumblr media
(Still had no cake)
Anyway. I'm on schedule. I'm alive. An little bit exhausted but still not fed up with being on the tracks. Lets hope ill find a shower soon <.<
Oh and, I spend 50€ yesterday (ticket plus foods) this money also could get you an Lego Stitch 43249.
Tumblr media
(cute but stupidly expensive)

Guangdong Introduces Digital Service Platform for Foreigners to Enhance Convenience at Canton Fair By Sun Lei, Hong Kong Economic Herald, Guangzhou
Tumblr media
April 12 — The Guangdong Provincial Government Services and Data Administration today launched a new “Digital Facilitation Service Area for Overseas Persons” on the Alipay ‘Wanshitong’ platform. This initiative was unveiled in Guangzhou with the support of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Department of Commerce, and witnessed participation from consulates general, chambers of commerce, and media from 23 countries and regions. The launch coincides with the opening of the Canton Fair and is designed to provide a one-stop service experience for international visitors, encompassing payments, travel, lifestyle, and government services. The service supports 16 languages to ensure accessibility and ease of use for foreigners. The “Payment Pass” feature within this zone leverages mainstream internet payment platforms, enabling international users to register with both domestic and overseas mobile numbers or email addresses. Users can link mainstream bank cards from over 200 countries and regions for convenient scan-and-pay transactions. This service is now available in most public and commercial spaces across the province, offering automatic currency conversion and settlement to make payments as straightforward as they are for mainland residents. Additionally, the zone offers a comprehensive range of life service solutions, including nearly 30 bilingual services such as purchasing mainland phone cards, currency exchange maps, and booking transportation like trains, ships, and air tickets. The bilingual intelligent customer service and hotline provide further assistance and convenience for international visitors. For travel, the “Travel Code” feature allows foreigners to easily access bus and subway systems in Guangzhou and 21 other cities across Guangdong, and has been extended to include systems in Hong Kong, enhancing regional travel convenience. In terms of government services, the special zone provides translations and guidance on services including fast lanes for customs clearance, temporary accommodation registration, and processing of visas and residence permits. These efforts aim to improve the efficiency and experience for overseas personnel in Guangdong. These initiatives reflect Guangdong Province’s commitment to the national policy of high-level opening and aim to enhance the living and working experience of foreigners in Guangdong through digital solutions, promoting a new era of high-quality service and openness.
