ALL STARS 5ep3
I always watch the new episode a day late so i get spoiler, people were saying this episode was terrible so I had low expectations and actually enjoyed it lol
this challenge was weird, especially cause it was a lot like the club episode in as4 and i thought most people hated that episode?
ngl i love cracker and alexis clashes and i think it shows alot about how early season girls played the game vs later season girls
like honestly im not playing any of this “villian” business and just appreciate the good tv we are getting and u should 2
im still mad at how the show/fans treated vixen so i refuse to buy what other people sell as a villain, and try to support those girls extra hard.
Also i love Shea standing up for cracker.
ANYwho yeah the challenge itself was actually pretty dull
i dont get how blair and mayham had the best thing but juju won? WHat?
Im glad Mayham did well this episode tho, i do like her I just feel like she finally has a spot and she didnt the first couple eps
I knew ru is a huge fan of golden girls, so i thought that would be a great idea, but it was lacking any energy..
Okay i love shea but honestly i did think she did so bad in the challenge. Maybe just cause I have such high expectations??
THE LOOK THO I feel like it didnt get enough respect i was hypnotized. Like it’s burned in my minds eye. And I feel like her expressions worked so well with that make up.
I really hope alexis wins a challenge soon. SHe’s so good and I worry about fans turning on her (choosing shea’s lipstick, conflict with cracker. I love her for these things but..)
OKAY I MOSTLY WANT TO TALK ABOUT MONET’S LIPSYNC MY GOD
I LOVE MONET
ONE OF MY FAVE QUEENS. THE LOOK. THE FACE. THE ENERGY. THE TALENT.
NGL sometimes when I listen to Bob and Monet’s podcast (sibling rivalry go listen if you havent) I always find myself more in love with Bob, and Monet I still love but do think of her as more of the little sister lol.
BUT THAT LIPSYNC I AM A MONET STAN THROUGH AND THROUGH.
I just love her. And her and craker running up to eachother and hugging made me so happy.
I’m gunna miss Mariah, she is such an amazing Queen.

At The Museum Headcannons
The awesome @max--phillips made the meme below, and being an History of Art graduate, I wrote some headcannons for it.
For this piece, Oberyn is Modern!Oberyn / Pero is Modern!Pero / Din Djarin is SecurityGuard!Din
Lots of clickable links in this as I have linked to the artists and artworks referenced. Big thank you to @getlostbobby for an amazing idea for Max Phillips!
Tumblr media
Dave York: You were surprised at how receptive to the idea he was. You had honestly thought he'd encourage you to go, but without him. And yet here he was, with you. He was looking at the techniques used, marveling over feathery paint strokes Rembrandt used for hair, the dramatic light and shadow of Caravaggio, and the paint application of Courbet. Dave seems to appreciate anything where a noticeable technique has been used, and he is particularly taken with anything that shows off the skill of the painter. He surprises you even further when he starts talking readily about symbolism in art and the conventions he sees in different artworks. As you're leaving, he tells you that he loves 'The Ambassadors' by Holbein and would like to come back as he could stare at it for hours.
Marcus Pike: He was so excited when you asked him to come with you. He'd been wanting to go for ages, but didn't want you to think he was asking you on a date that was 'something he wanted to do' or that he was going and you were there just to tag along. He was genuinely interested in everything that was in the collection, but was equally as interested in what you thought about each piece. He never got annoyed at any of your questions and was eager to have a conversation about art with you. He noted he thought you had an interesting perspective on a lot of the pieces that he hadn't thought of, and he excitedly explained you had given him some insight that had never occurred to him. As you queued up in the gift shop you asked what his favourite piece was, and he laughed and said he couldn't pick just one.
Ezra: He was more than happy to go with you, mainly for your company and in the hope he might find something to captivate his imagination. You and he got a fit of giggles over a nude sculpture and for a good half an hour you had to stifle giggles as you walked around together, seeing more and more of them. You calmed down quicker than he did, but you did find it adorable that he found such joy in something so childish. What did catch you off guard though, was the way he fell in love with the dreamy, hazy Monets. He sank onto one of the benches and just stared at it for what felt to you like an eternity. When you sat next to him, you listened intently to how he spoke of their ethereal, dream-like beauty. He was truly captivated by them and you promised you would let him know if there was ever a special Monet exhibition at the museum. He particularly liked the 'Houses of Parliament' paintings, and was happy to hear they were part of the permanent collection.
Jack Daniels: He giggled with you at the nude figures, but explained he thought the contrast between nudity in art (and how it is highly regarded) and modern censorship of nudity was bizarre. He was then totally hooked on art as social commentary and this dictated how he viewed a lot of the collection. His natural pace around the museum is quite quick, but he was more than happy to go at your pace and stop at anything you wanted to take your time over. He would listen to what you had to say and offer his own opinion. In terms of anything he actually liked, rather than found interesting alone, he mentioned he really liked Van Gogh's 'Wheatfield with Cypresses' series. They felt like home, he said.
Max Lord: He very matter of factly told you he would only come with you if there was a special exhibition he was interested in, and he wouldn't bother with the permanent collection. He was happy to come to the Andy Warhol special exhibition but would only go at his own pace, and was done in an hour. He went straight to the café afterward to wait for you, though did get drunk on the overpriced wine while doing so. You asked what he liked best, and he said 'Triple Elvis' by Andy Warhol, but refused to elaborate.
Oberyn Martell: He loved recreating poses of the pieces you looked at, particularly if it was the dramatic retelling of a myth. He made you join in with him, explaining that it wasn't as fun on his own, and it was the best way to enjoy the storytelling. He did, however, ask you to pose on your own by 'Girl With A Pearl Earring' by Johannes Vermeer, as he felt you could recreate it perfectly, and took a photo on his phone. Overall he prefers visiting the permanent collection as there is so much he wants to look at, and feels he could spend hours upon hours looking at everything on multiple visits. Most of all, he loves sitting in the café with you once you're finished looking around together, discussing what you'd looked at over a bottle of wine. On one visit, he buys a print of 'Judith Slaying Holofernes' by Artemisia Gentileschi as he thinks both art and artist is a strong female piece for his daughters.
Frankie Morales: He was a bit nervous about going with you, thinking you were so much smarter than him, and that it would all go over his head. He was happy to go around with you, asking about what you found interesting and looking at anything you pointed out. However, he was surprised to find that he really liked the pieces that showed everyday people doing normal, day to day things. He was particularly interested in the ones that showed what people did for fun, like 'A Concert' by Lorenzo Costa. He found it really cool that the mouths were painted in a shape that showed it matched what sound they were actually singing, based on the music score in the painting. He was really excited by 'A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte' by Georges Seurat. He loved seeing the dogs in the painting, which is what made him look, but he also loved the 'slice of life' feel to it.
Javier Peña: He agreed without hesitation to come with you, but once he got there, he felt so out of place that he headed straight for the café to wait for you. He insisted you take as long as you wanted and to not worry about him. He didn't get far, though, and pulled you over to 'At the Theatre' by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. He very quietly told you that while he thought you were much more beautiful than the girl in the foreground, he said it reminded him so much of the first time you met. He'd seen you across the crowded entrance to the embassy, and he felt like the face of the man in the background, desperate to meet the beautiful girl across the room.
Comandante Veracruz: He only agreed to come with you because you swore you'd be out before closing time, and because you promised that when you were done, you'd have dinner at the restaurant he'd been eyeing up for weeks. He went straight to the café, mumbling 'before closing' as he went. True to your word, you came to find him with a good couple of hours to spare. He melted a little bit when he saw how happy you were at having spent most of the day surrounded by art, and promised he would come with you again and try and look at some of the exhibits.
Pero Tovar: He only went because you promised you wouldn't mind if he spent the whole time in the café. He said he would wait until he got bored, then you were on your own. You were almost as surprised as he was, though, when he stopped by 'The Battle of San Romano' by Paolo Uccello and was genuinely interested in it. He actually asked you questions about it, and asked why it was so important in how artists approached perspective in painting. He also spent a lot of time looking at 'Whistlejacket' by George Stubbs and marveled at the accuracy. He did eventually go to the café, but was there for much less time than he thought. And he asked you to get him a print of 'Whistlejacket' from the gift shop when you were done.
Max Phillips: You regretted asking him to come as soon as the words left your mouth, but you weren't sure why. You knew he would do something ridiculous, this is Max you were talking about; you just couldn't figure out what. 'Licking a painting' was not on your bingo card of Max shenanigans, but here you were in the museum, staring intently at whatever exhibit was on the other side of the room as Max was escorted out. Once you knew he was gone, you turned around to check where he had been, and had to stifle your laughter. For all the embarrassment, knowing Max was thrown out for licking 'Saturn Devouring His Son' by Francisco Goya was possibly the funniest thing in the world, and you had to hide your laughter for the remainder of the visit.
Din Djarin: You had started talking to the quiet security guard after he apologised for disturbing you. Some guy had tried to lick a Goya in one of the other rooms, and the guard had bumped into you as he led the guy out. As he was apologising, he noticed you were looking at a piece by Kazimir Malevich and made an incredibly insightful comment. It hadn't occurred to you before, and from then on you always made an effort to seek him out when you visited. It turned out he was really into Piet Mondrian and the Constructivist movement, which explained the Malevich comment. He doesn't have a particular favourite piece, rather more interested as the movement as a whole, and how it develops. He takes you by surprise when he is very excited to tell you about an exhibition coming to the museum on astral photography (he later explained he had wanted to apply to work at NASA as a kid). Your heart melts when he shyly asks if you'd be interested in coming with him on his day off.

RuPaul's Drag Race: Make It Pop!
A branding challenge right after a...branding challenge?
Tumblr media
The remaining seven queens just got over the makeover challenge in which they had to makeover a fellow season 13 sister, and BAM! they had to do another branding challenge, only thing time it was all about making a commercial for a drink. Here we have acting, branding, and a little improv all rolled into one and it was a shocker to no one when Utica wound up in the bottom - or, wait - Utica’s brand is quirky and weird. So...her commercial, to me, was on point. Not the best but at least on-brand enough to land her in the safe zone alongside that so-so BEAST look.
In her place should have been Gottmik. Now, that’s a shocker because that hasn’t been a struggle we haven’t seen Gottmik get over this season. That is until now. Her commercial for Gottmik’s Gottsexx...something-something drink was a mess. I got where she wanted to go but like many a runway every season of ‘Drag Race,’ it didn’t quite get there. It was truly her runway that saved her from lip-syncing to “My Humps” this week but in all honesty, she should have because we all know Ru would not have sent Gottmik home if it came down between her and well, my guess from last week. My first right prediction:
Tumblr media
When Twitter spoiled this week’s elimination for me, I was watching, waiting for Tina to majorly fuck up, and when she kind of just delivered a basic performance I thought...um? Even her runway wasn’t horrible but when you hear the judges FINALLY saying they’re tired of the red, orange, yellow color scheme after *checks calendar* 11 weeks and the expected - you kind of got the hint that they were sending her ass home, and it didn’t matter who was in the bottom next to her. Which, let’s be real...Tina wasn’t going to win this season. The top two spots have been Gottmik and Symone’s from the start, and while we got a little shook watching Gottmik struggle during this week’s challenge - it has been her only oopsy. Thus allowing someone like my dark horse, Rose, to shine even more.
I don’t think there was anything I agreed with more this season than RuPaul giving Symone and Rose the win. When they showed Rose fly through filming her commercial and Symone absolutely deliver within one line - plus their runways, I really did not know who was going to win and thought, do we do a lot of double wins...outside of All-Stars 4 of course.
Tumblr media
With those being the tops and bottoms, and the supposed-to-be bottoms (Olivia), that leaves us with Kandy Muse. Not surprised she was able to make us laugh with her commercial. She’s like Miss Vanjie, a personality that oozes a beautiful mixture of brash and confidence that you cannot deny, no matter how hard you tried. Her runway...however....that was a no. If she’d done horribly in the challenge, that would have been her up against Tina tonight. This was the opposite of Gottmik. Did they not learn anything from one another last week?
Next week the queens have to roast three former Miss Congeniality winners; Nina West, Heidi N Closet, and Valentina. Where is Monet?! Anyways, the preview has me worried for Utica, and even if it didn’t - that’s who I’d be worried for. She’s not a mean queen who has clearly struggled with not only comedy but showed us in ‘Untucked’ that she has tried (and somewhat failed) joking around with the queens in a nice/Mean Girl way. I feel like Symone will struggle if she overthinks it, but if she just goes with her gut - OMG, she will slay. However, this is about talking shit - so this may be Kandy’s win next week.
Tumblr media
BEAST Looks Ranked:
Symone: She was giving us hormone monstress fucked Robin Hood realness
Gottmik: Another A got Gottmik
Rose: Him from Powerpuff Girls, but make it...sexier
Olivia Lux: When and where can one get an Olivia beast stuffed animal?
Utica: Good. Not great, but good
Tina Burner: Her 2nd best
Kandy Muse:
Tumblr media
Week 11 Rankings & Reasonings:
Symone - Another day, another win!
Gottmik - The bottom is not something Gottmik understands and it shows. A fire is lit and I expect nothing but perfection next week - or at least good enough to be safe
Rose - When you don’t put an anchor on a sailing ship, it continues to move steadily ahead and Rose proved that this week. Without Tina’s horrendous makeup, she was able to fucking own another win.
Kandy Muse - I can’t see her fucking up a Roast Challenge.
Olivia - Next week is going to be a rough one and I feel like we’re going to see Olivia in the bottom - again, but I think the judges will lean towards her and that smile.
Utica - Why, oh why is it a Roast next week? I don’t have any faith in my fav from episode one next week. It’ll be sad to see her go, but there is no way she doesn’t take home Miss Congeniality, so at least there’s that.

RuCap: Snatch Game of Love (Spoilers)
The newest episode of Drag Race, which aired 5 days ag- YESTERDAY, was the highly anticipated Snatch Game episode. Unfortunately, or fortunately based on how you liked the change, Ru decided to tinker with the format, to create a spin off, the Match Game of Love. The guests, the delightfully delicious Gus Kenworthy and the gagalishus wonder from Downunder Keynan Lonsdale played to find their perfect love connections as the queens did their best and funniest celebrity impersonation. The challenge was split in two halves so it gave each contestant a good amount of time to shine. Before I talk about how they all did though, I’ll quickly run through the rest of the episodes events. Now I am not about to say Gia Gunn this season did no wrong, wasn’t catty, however, what was shown on TV wasn’t the whole T. Again, they push the forced, dated storyline of Gia as the villain from previous episodes. Gia has since released a video explaining her side of the story, and through that, her discussions with Manila, and her confessionals, you can see there is more to this wonderful woman than this bad edit. Ru and co can pull the “we don’t make them say anything” card, but they made sure to place the right bit of shade, or the nastiest reaction so that Gia came out looking bad. What she really wanted was to prove that women, especially trans women, had the right to compete, and be seen. At this point you have to wonder, will Ru ever except what everyone else already knows, and let the show evolve? Now, her Snatch Game, as Cardi B’s nail tech was a hot, stereotypical mess. As a backup for her original plan, Caitlin Jenner, who was instead portrayed by Trinity (more on that in a minute). She relied solely on her “fresh off the boat” persona; I personally don’t think she knew anything about her character at all, and instead was playing the roll of a Thai masseuse . In a wonderful conversation later between her and Manila, about being more than an Asian stereotype, you know Gia wasn’t trying to take advantage, it was just a very unfortunate pick for her. This conversation was one of my favourite parts of the episode. A genuine political discussion, followed by some sweet closure. Other dramas included: Trinity and Monet dragging each others wardrobes, and miss Latrice, again, just like season four, being angry at the other girls for stealing her shine, saying as Della Reese she didn’t get a time to be funny. But I ask, was it Gia being a mess, or Latrice not being a comedy queen that tripped her up? Trinity and Manila proved you can stop someone stealing your spotlight without breaking character. Now, for some individual Snatch Game critiques: Latrice as Della Reese, let her emotions get the better of her, not hiding her aggravation and eye rolls. As such, there wasn’t much to judge. Gia apologised, but I think it takes two to tango, and Latrice didn’t make me laugh. Valntina as Eartha Kitt, this girl was a scary mess. The voice was perfect, and I personally love the ‘Emporers new Groove’ reference but otherwise, it was all nonsensical. Monet x Change tried to do Miss Whitney, relying heavily on song titles and a weird water bottle stunt, where she drenched her wig, but she wasn’t terrible. I’ve talked about miss Gia, as Jenny Bui already but she was very domineering, answering over the other girls when she wasn’t being asked the question. She may have been trying to create a funny vibe but it did not work for her. Miss Monique Heart redeemed her last Snatch Game, Maxine Waters, by playing Tiffany Haddish. Her personality is similar to Tiffany’s so she got a couple of good lines in, and had good energy. Naomi Smalls played Wendy Williams. She could have potentially taken her match home, she was spot on and even stole the last laugh by recreating Wendy’s weird fall off the stage. Manila did a ludicrous Barbara Steissand that was so bad it was genius, and snatched her Keynan Lonsdale’s love connection. The giant nose, and facial contortion Manila is famous for, was classic, campy and fun. Trinity played Kaitlin Jenner, winning out against Gia to play the roll, which is fair, it’s a game, and she slayed. Her references to her age and repetition of the word “Malibu”, in her fake voice had me gagging. For the main stage the category was “Boots the House Down”, and it was a mixed bag honestly. Valentina, Monique and Monet served, but it was the week’s victor Manila, who won the runway a second week in a row adter her STUNNING silver gown last week. In a risky move, and I mean physically risky, she trussed herself up with pink belts, BDSM style, and literally hopped down the runway with a carrot ball gag. It. Changed. My life. The lip-sync obviously went to the two Snatch game winners Manila and Trinity, and Manila took the carrot out of her mouth long enough to fully embody miss Whitney’s ‘How Will I Know?’ She played the love struck, 80’s glam chick. Honestly, she won within the first few seconds with a few simple gestures. Trinity couldn’t quite reach her level, though she gave it her best shot, trying to show emotion with all that play dough injected in her face. Manila regretfully sends Gia home, and Ru scans the group of girls for the next fake villain she can throw under the bus. Observations: The judges were delectable. Keiynans fashion was EVERYTHING. Come through beret, and Gus Kenworthy was a good and fair judge. Ru showed us her legs, taking Naomi’s cheque.

Thoughts on RPDR All Stars 4: Episode 2 (Spoilers)
Today’s challenge with an iconic replication of Triple A Girls hit “Heathers.” I cant be too mad tho because legend Stacy Lane Matthews gave amazing sound bites. The girls were asked to write rap (or Sung) verses far a girl group number. Gia Gunn dominated the confessional room and expertly kept the cameras on her at all times. If only she would have taken some of that time to memorize those dance moves. Jk Kimora. Gia threw some lukewarm Tea in Farrah’s face, Farrah tried to act calm and collected, but her performance showed that she was not on the ball.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
In order of runways
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Gia Gunn:
Runway look: Boot
Performance: Boot
Gias rap was cute, but when you hear how many words are in Naomi’s or Latrices verse, Gia’s just felt lazy. I would have loved for her to bring in that shady personality to the main stage. A lot of empty space in the verse. Not too much content.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Latrice Royale:
Runway look: Boot
Preformance: TOOT
Latrice could have made top two if her runway was not her classic rhinestone black gown. That’s her go to look and it’s getting boring. I’ve seen this dress, with the same hair, and those same earrings on her before. However she looked sickening in that white jumpsuit. And her stage presence was like no other. She owned that stage, spitting out those verses.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Manila:
Runway look: TOOT
Preformance: BOOT
One of my favorite looks, but one of the weakest performances. I want her to win so bad, but this was just not the tea. Her “motivational lyrics” had no substance and she flopped so hard on that choreo. She kept looking at her feet, and That took focus off of the other girls. Not great. And that superhero look was not girl group in any way.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Trinity:
Runway look: Toot
Preformance: Toot
Trinity knew the assignment, sass, class, and ass. And her and Val showed those 3 things. It wasn’t my favorite, I didn’t gag over it. But she was a clear top 4.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Valentina:
Runway look: Toot
Preformance: Toot
Her voice was so cunt, it just sounded to early 2000s Britney. My big issue here is that I’ve listened to her verse four or five times and I still don’t understand half of what she saying. She looked and sounded great. It was just a little hard to make out. The ending note was flawless tho.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Naomi:
Runway look: Toot
Performance: TOOT
Naomi is not named Smalls for nothing. She knows 90s rap. That’s her nitch. Wasn’t my fave but she came to slay. One of the cleanest.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Monique:
Runway look: Toot
Performance: TOOT
When they called Monique to be bottom two, I genuinely gasped with confusion. Her singing was FLAWLESS until that last note. She sung her ass off. The choreo was a little sloppy and the runway look was definantly her weird aethstetic. But she Slayed.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Farrah:
Runway look: Boot
Performance: BOOT
Nothing about this was enjoyable. Naomi, Monique, and Monét were at top tier was she was just so out of place. It unfortunately ruined the song. And her begging and backing Val into a corner was annoying.
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Monet:
Runway look: Toot
Performance: TOOT
She really redeemed herself. She nailed it. Nothing more to say
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Top Two: Monet and Valentina
Preferred Top Two: Latrice and Valentina
Bottom Two: Farrah and Monique
Preferred Bottom Two: Farrah and Manila
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
Current Front Runners:
1. Latrice Royale
2. Monique Heart
3. Valentina
4. Manila Luzon

Am I sad Naomi sent home Manila? Heck yeah, I’m mad!!! We all know she deserved to stay and grace us with her fantastic runway looks and crazy personality. Do I hate Naomi? NO!!! This is a game with terrible rules and she played them to fit her purpose. I still wanna see her in the final because she’s finally showing that she came here to win and she has potential to. Naomi was always on my top 3 All Star along with Trinity and Manila because she’s incredibly talented. But yeah I’m devastated because Manila is my favourite and I know she would slay those runways.
I also feel like Monet’s choice to be on top was a bit “wtf?” considering she still shows no sign of good aesthetics and how was that family resemblance???

Something About Aquaria
A/N: Hi I’m a new writer here  you can call me Eliptic (E-lip-tic), I just really love supernatural AUs so I decided to write one let me know if you guys like it. I’ve combined several fictional lure on supernatural beings for this, like Shadowhunters, Vampire Diaries, Cirque Du Freak, Supernatural and a miniscule dash of Twilight. Also to save confusion I tend to naturally use female pronouns while they’re in drag and male out. ~ Eliptic
For some reason Miz Cracker couldn’t tear her eyes away from Aquaria, the younger queen was simply sitting, chatting and laughing with the other queens while the crew was on lunch break, but Cracker’s eyes had been glued to her since she walked in, her mind was numb as she stared at the other.
“You look like you wanna eat her and not in the sexy way.” Cracker jumped at Monet’s voice as the taller girl wrapped an arm around her shoulders, breaking her out of her trance. “You did plan this around your… dietary restrictions, didn’t you?” she whispered.
“Of course I did.”
“Then what’s wrong. I know you’re not that mad about the twins thing.”
Cracker sighed “I don’t really know, something’s off.”
“With Aquaria?”
“No, her wig I think it’s literally a dead raccoon.” Cracker said rolling her eyes.
Monet studied Aquaria, while taking a deep breath “Her energy is-“
“Alright ladies, Follow me to the mini challenge.”
“We’ll talk later.” Monet said seriously.
Cracker managed to push whatever it was about Aquaria to the back of her mind until they were getting ready for the runway as she was struggling with her fascinator.
“Need help?” Aquaria asked coming up behind her.
“A little.” She huffed handing her the hat. “The ruffles are in the way.”
Aquaria chuckled as she secured the fascinator to Cracker’s wig, in doing so Cracker was hit with a strong wave of Aquaria’s scent.  Mostly her perfume, a little bit of sweat, the innate inviting smell of a human, and… flowers, such sweet flowers that forced Cracker to close her eyes as she felt them change, thankful that her makeup covered the other signs of her losing control.
“You okay?” Aquaria asked.
Cracker coughed steadying herself, “Just nerves.” She managed to say, not meeting Aquaria’s eyes, instead choosing to fixate on a stool behind her.
“Well you look stunning, so try not to worry too much.” Aquaria said smoothing Crackers’ wig “I’ll see you on stage.” She smiled walking away.
Cracker stared as the younger queen left to join the lineup. “Oi you can thirst later, we’ve got a runway to slay.” Dusty cheered linking their arms and leading Cracker away.
That smell. It was so faint, barely there in fact, but now that Cracker had noticed it, she couldn’t get it out of her head. So sweet, floral, and clean but incomplete. ‘I know that smell.’ she thought to herself ‘Why can’t I place it?’
“Whatever’s going on in that head of yours, put it on the back burner cause you’re up next.” Monet whispered from across the stage. “Focus on the drag queen not the vampire.”
Cracker shook herself out, zeroing in on the comforting scent of her sister. before climbing the stairs and severing her look to the judges, trying desperately to ignore the lingering scent of Aquaria that was weighing on her mind.
Back at the hotel
Max was watching idly as the tears on his skin mended themselves when he heard a familiar whistle from a few rooms over. He whistled back, opening the door to the tiny balcony he scaled the side of the building stealthily until he found Monet’s room, who quickly let him in.
“You rang.” Max drawled quietly.
“Seeing you do that weird ass spider man shit will never not freak me out girl.” Kevin said closing the door. Max smirked hopping up on his friends bed. “I think I figured out what’s wrong with Aquaria.”
“Do tell, cause it’s driving me nuts.”
“I’m not an expert but it think she’s in transition.”
Suddenly everything clicked. The sweet floral smell was the odor of sanctity, the smell of a vampire, mixed with the scent of a regular human and Max was naturally being drawn to the vulnerable fledgling.
“How can he not know.”
“Well when humans feel a bit off they don’t immediately think ‘Oh I must be turning into a vampire.’” Kevin said.
“Giovanni has to know something is wrong though, the sensitivity to light, the heightened senses, the… blood lust. Trust me wanting to rip out someone’s throat, is concerning, to say the least.”
“Maybe he hasn’t hit that stage of it. It’s possible it happened just before he came here.”
“Which means he was turned by accident by a rookie who panicked and ran.” Max began pacing tugging at his hair. “No matter the timeline Giovanni will eventually start feeling the effects and he could do something he’ll regret.”
“So help him.” Kevin said simply
“He’ll think I’m insane!”
“You are girl,” Kevin chuckled grabbing Max’s arms, forcing him to stop. “He’s gonna need someone. Coming into this side of things, under any conditions, isn’t easy.
“I can’t help a newly turned vampire! I can barely help myself half of the time!”
“Max.” Kevin said forcing Max to look him in the eye. “You’ve been where he is right now. You know what he is going to go through, be for Giovanni what you didn’t have when you first turned. You’ve got this.”
Max swallowed visibly “I’ve got this.” He said weakly
“Go now, before you lose what little nerve you have.” Kevin waved his hand opening the door and shoving Max toward it.
“I’ve got this.” Max repeated shakily as he searched for Giovanni’s room.
Once he found it he awkwardly stood on the balcony and knocked on the glass door. A few moments later a confused Giovanni peeked his head out from the covers.
“Cracker?” he yawned “How did you-“
“I can explain if you let me in.”
Giovanni reluctantly opened the door, “How did you get here? Did you climb the building?”
Max pressed forward into the room “Kind of.” He brushed off. “I actually came here because I think you need help.”
“And what’s that supposed to mean.” He said putting a hand on his hip.
“Fuck this is hard.” Max whispered “Have you been feeling… different recently?” Giovanni stiffened. “Like your senses have been put in overdrive, feeling sensitive to bright lights… hungry…” Max trailed off.
“I feel fine Max.”
“See I know you’re lying.” Max said beginning to pace again “Cause your heart beat jumped.” He said slowly.
Giovanni laughed nervously “How could you possibly know that.”
“Because I can hear it.” Max stood still “Gio, I need you to be honest with me.” He said taking Giovanni’s head in his hands “Something happened and you’ve felt different ever since. What happened?” Max’s eyes shifted as he stared into Giovanni’s eyes. “You know you can trust me.”
Giovanni’s shoulders relaxed and he slumped into Max’s hands. “I was celebrating getting the call, I decided to let off some steam with some guy.” Giovanni said “He kept biting me. It felt really good, then…”he paused “Then he… looked worried and put his wrist to my mouth then… I woke up at my place.” He let out a shaky breath “Why don’t I remember what happened?”
Max pulled Giovanni into a hug. “Shush. It’s okay, breath.”
“Max.” Giovanni whimpered “What’s happening to me.”

RPDR S10 EP3
My friend sort of hinted at the outcome...I’m preparing myself...
Monique is forgettable? Oh no Ma’am! She’s the production of the show!
the Sponge is the meme of the season....lol
Monique will step her pussy up Vixen. But she should have been top first week. Not sorry ‘bout it. Still salty.
Okay but this mini-challege was classic but the cringe was their. It was hilarious af tho too. XD
Blair St. Clair is the Trinity Taylor for me. What a queen.
I’m worried for Yuhua... q.q
SCREENSHOT ASIA’s FACE. I WANT THAT. THATS ME.
YUHUA NOOOOOO!! She should of katya’d that shit and just rolled around like a (un-)sexy mess. :(
BITCH NO. THATS FUCKED UP. NO SPIDERS. STAP. q.q Make it stop...
DUSTY q.q . . . we entered RuPaul’s best therapy race q.q
Lol Vixen. It’s fucking true. She came to fight. She’s here to contest Phi Phi as the greatest villain of all time--no ma’am you wont beat her. But hey, I wish I was confident like Vixen--or should I say...cocky...
 Category: FEATHERS.
Blair: Okay...so like...she’s beautiful, but like...it’s just a dress...with...feathers attached? I’m getting...glamor chicken that looks....uh...tacky? meh toot.
Miz Cracker: TOOT. Clean design. Wonderful color. Love the bird’s nest on top the head. My one critique is the gold “cage” skirt needed more rigid shape and not flounce in my opinion. but love it.
Eureka: YASSS TOOOT. This is how you do evil feathers. THE LOAF IS BACK. Omg she glued a crow/raven to her arm lol
Vixen: toot...so I love how the gown is asymmetrical and wraps in an “un-traditional” way. My issue is the...hair... I think it would have been fiercer if she had long straight hair (like Chi Chi’s wig reveal look) OR a clean slickback with a bun with feathers coming out of it. But eh...toot.
MONIQUE: YASSSSSS. angelic white....love it. What a goddess.
Mayhem: love the pink feathers. It’s a lovely color. the contacts are a nice touch. but the open chest is very reminiscent of her first week look. the nude in the back...something about me feels like if it was open it would have been better. But I dunno lol. toot.
Dusty: I’m conflicted. Because I love it. But I also hate it. It makes sense to me. but it feels disjointed. The Hair doesn’t work...yet it does... The make up is pretty great...but like...it’s not matching the feathers. I’m gonna toot it. But its strange lol.
Kameron: HOLY SHIT. SHOOT. q.q this is amazing. What an amazing outfit. Good stuff. She may not be a huge character, but this look is everything q.q
Monet: meh toot. boring. here’s the thing...I get it. but the “two-piece” element is throwing me off. Not bad. But meh. Neck up is perfect as always tho.
ASIA: OMG. I’m dead. THIS IS HILARIOUS. I LOVE IT. TOOT.
Yuhua: okay so like I love this. Not necessarily original. BUT it’s cohesively good. It’s campy. It’s beautiful. TOOT.
Aquaria: NOW THIS IS GOOD SHIT. Cohesively unique. A dead bird. YASSSSSS. TOOT.
End of Days: 8/10. Miz cracker stood out the most to me. Eureka was also lovely to watch.
Fibster: uh.... 6/10. Kameron...was so-so. Mayhem disappeared and had practically nothing. Dusty and Monique did pretty well. The concept wasn’t as clear as End of Days...
Butterface: okay....ASIA....I love you. This was what I was waiting for! OKAY BUT BRYCE STROKING AQUARIA’s nose is everything. Yuhua...my fave failed me q.q . But she got to fuck with a blow-up doll. uh...7/10.
No Carson...no. Michelle was right this time.
MAKE ASIA WIN. PLZ.
-.- okay...I’m over this...call out my bias...but whatever... oh no...Yuhua is going home q.q ...
Ru sounds...sick lol
-.-
ASIA WON. YES.
MY GURL YUHUA IS GOING HOME q.q
Mayhem looks like she about to kill a bitch...and she did. At least Yuhua did her best q.q
“YUHUA YOU GONNA REMEMBER ME.” I DO GURL. I LOVE YOU. SLAY. WO YE AI NI! (I love you too).
q.q so my team didn’t win again...I knew it...but she went home earlier q.q . Vanessa is gone. Yuhua is gone. MONIQUE I’M ROOTING FOR YOU. MAKE IT TO TEH END GURL. PLZ.
OTHER NOTES:
So vixen is right. Aquaria was destroyed in Untucked (a la her outfit). Vixen is extra, but unapologetically so. I respect that. But she’s a retaliatory queen. Don’t fight if you don’t want to get put together. Don’t dish what you can’t take. Vixen was on point the entire time--very aware. Can I be Vixen so I can actually fight my own battles for once? Lol.
Monique staring at Mayhem and Kameron talking on the side. 0 . 0 shooketh.

Rupaul’s Drag Race Season 10 Power Rankings - Ep. 8, (Cher) The Unauthorized Rusical
Fair warning, my brains are still scrambled from last week. This show is going crazy! It’s chaos! It’s so unpredictable! I don’t know what to think anymore. I feel like I just need to...snap out of it!
Actually, with the exception of Kameron winning, I found this episode to be pretty predictable. This episode was pretty much just filler so we could get rid of the Vixen, and we did. Huzzah!
7. The Vixen Ding dong the bitch is dead. This elimination was written on the wall and was only delayed by a week because Monique bombed so hard last week. It didn’t matter what anyone else did this week or who was going up against her because NO ONE survives a 3rd lipsync in a row. Ru seemed like she was itching to get rid of her. Before, I thought there was an outside chance the Vixen could’ve made it to the end, but she couldn’t decide if she wanted to be an evil villain or a whiny victim, and she just came off as volatile and childish. Her rage wasn’t focused, and her drag needs a ton of polish. Obviously, the season’s gonna be a lot more relaxed from here on out. No one’s gonna have to walk on eggshells anymore. There will probably not be any fights going forward, but I’m fine with it. We got enough this season, I think. Thank you Vixen for bringing chaos back to the show and Untucked. We loved to hate you. RIP.
6. Asia O’Hara Asia has been going up and down throughout the season, so it’s hard to know where she stands. After performing pretty poorly 2 weeks in a row, I have no other choice but to put her low. I’m not sure if she’s going home NEXT, but she’s in a really rocky spot right now. Her Beyoncé was bad. Her Cher was bad, and the next challenge is just acting, but she might squeeze through. In the only challenge she won, she got by on silly faces and ugly makeup, not great acting, so I’m a little nervous. After looking back through their track records, I may have overrated Asia a little bit before. Even though she has one win and some great moments throughout the season, she’s the only one who has been consistently low the last couple weeks, which is a bad omen for next week. I’ma be bummed if she goes next, but it’ll pale in comparison to the shock of the Snatch Game episode. Only the Twist will top that.
5. Kameron Michaels I didn’t expect Kameron to ever get a challenge win, but I didn’t expect Aquaria to win Snatch Game either. Next week is acting, which isn’t Kameron’s strong suit, so I refuse to put Kameron any higher despite winning this week. I initially would have put Cracker below Kameron, but Cracks is a good actor and Kameron isn’t (maybe knowing what the next challenge is would be considered cheating for the purposes of writing power rankings but fuck you I do what I want). I actually think the win for this Cher challenge should’ve gone to Cracker and not Kameron. Even though KM has a surprisingly good voice, Cracker was funnier, had harder choreo, and a MUCH better runway look. Kameron’s look was kinda basic. On the other hand, Kameron is finally finally getting some interesting narrative. I actually do kinda like the bitch. She’s thoughtful, reserved, and seems genuinely kind and humble. It’s actually really interesting to see a queen this quiet go this far, and it’s refreshing to have someone there who isn’t such a loudmouth. I feel for Kameron, and I’ve come around on her for the most part since the season began, but I still don’t think she’s gonna go to the end.
4. Miz Cracker Cracker always gets so close, but never quite nabs the win. I don’t really agree at all with the judges’ negative critiques about her this week. Breanna slayed. There’s always next week! It’s weird how Cracker and Aquaria have had this role reversal since episode 1. I think when the season began, most people were gunning for Cracker over Aquaria, but now it seems like Aquawoman is a true fan favorite and Cracker is getting kinda written out. Shit’s nutty. I’m still crossing my fingers for my girl. I think she deserves top 4, but maybe not top 3. She hasn’t won a challenge and is rarely in the top, even in comedy challenges. I dunno. It’s unfortunate but I don’t see her winning after all.
3. Monet X Change Another strong week for Monet! Cool. There’s still a few episodes left and no stupid Twist yet, so I GUESS something crazy could happen, but if things go as they should, she’ll likely be in the top 3 next to Aquaria and Eureka. I think that’s a pretty nice looking top 3. It would have been more interesting to have seen Monique up there instead, but I’ll take what I can get. The top 3 should be diverse but strong all around, and I think Monet has that......well except for her looks. Monet X Change has to have the absolute worst looks out of everyone this season. Her outfit this week was REAL bad, but her Cher was real good, and she’ll probably be fine next week.
2. Aquaria Can someone actually explain to me what Aquaria did to her eyes? That shit was incredible. THAT’S commitment. In the looks department, I’d put Aquaria up into the highest echelons next to Raja and Violet Chachki, the most fashionable queens of all. I’ve never seen a queen with such an artistic eye before. It blows my mind. She may have been “low” this week, but she made it through this, one of the harder challenges, and I can’t envision any possible ending that doesn’t have her in the top 3. You know she’s gonna murder the finale looks, too.
Check out this video. Things like this look are why she’s a frontrunner: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WESAj_lQHPs
1. Eureka That dress made me scream. It was EPIC. This’ll probably be the closest she comes to the bottom for the rest of the season. It really doesn’t matter what Eureka does from here on out. Even when she stumbles, she still gets more and more backstory. Every thing not to like about Eureka comes with a good story behind it. I dunno if she’s polarizing or not; most people I’ve talked to have said she’s among their favorites, or they at least recognize she’s going to the end. It’s obvious. I don’t have much else to say about her. I’m just gushing over that  fucking gown.
Some other misc. notes: - Black queens are gonna get judged more harshly in a Cher challenge. - No one did that great (at least in the judges’ eyes) so Kameron won by default. - Assigned roles are bullshit. Asia shoulda gotten to pick who did what since she won the mini challenge.
If the Twist isn’t next episode, I’ma be EXTREMELY nervous beyond that. I know some stupid bullshit fuckery is on the horizon. I feel it in my bones. I think the only one -truly- safe no matter what happens is Eureka. What I fear most is a stupid lipsync tournament. Shea Coulee and Trinity Taylor were robbed. I want this to be a good, fair battle between the top THREE queens. Season 9 had a top 4 finale. That’s a THIRD of the contestants in the finale. Shit’s stupid. Narrow it down so I can really gun for one of em.

HOUSE-BOUND INTROSPECTIONS FROM AN AGING LIFE
These days my wife cares for my needs. It comes with age, I suppose, this realization it will end one day, this mystery of an Earthbound life. One thinks he drank too much from the cup.  I’m spent and can’t get it up.  Tuckered out from my heighten adrenaline fueled rough and rowdy ways.   Not really.  Pretty mild mannered, and avoid conflict if I can.
It was after my close call with gall bladder cancer decades ago. If you don’t care, mindful of the thoughts you create from the abyss of the subconscious’ metaphysical dreamscape, I followed a mosaic path lined with twinkling kaleidoscope of crystals in my mind cinema. Distractions, life choices, what we do today plants a randomness of the future events to unfold.
Take a risk with magic and love, my life is a rom-com feature, unbathed in my naked naivety of how to monetize my American existence.
Outside my home, things go on all around me, unfazed that I'm sinking into the past of memories. The seasonal temperature fluctuates from winter freeze to desert heat, and nature's way will  out last.
One's life of decades span, full of fresh events and strife, those accomplishments and failures, are now all spent.  We all leave a legacy, usually not in the way we want.
In my house-bound remoteness fragments of memories enter my mind.  Unknowing the side effects, regrets and happiness will arise.  With resolve in my heart, seclusion and privacy bring a settling peace.  Regardless of the daily turmoil's going on in the world that exist in a vacuum of pain; I can breathe deep into serenity for this discord is behind me now, tranquility prevails, my heart is at ease.
Oh how life is a constant challenge, this I now see.  When the decisions made turned out to be my own undoing, causing other misery.  Seeking consolation, solace or even relief, what disquieting acts I have committed are now released.
Imaginative illusions that drove my perceptions from classical literature in my youth, those golden years promised elude me now, what was it all worth?
Physical stamina is waning as age creeps over me.  Perhaps it pushed me to reflecting on this connection to the Soul within me. Ancient esoteric rituals of energy alchemy now come to me in round about ways.  But what I always came back to was "...ask and it shall be given unto you" my salvation.
On my shelves are stacked the chronicles I transcribed from daily events. The Grimoire rituals, shaman crafting seals.
Honing a way to express myself, for good or bad. Nothing mattered more, than to learn about what I didn't know behind the illusion that would make me sad.
I was transported into a world of other dimensions. There are others that came along later, mystical out of body excursions that I couldn't explain.  Because the system of civilization dictated to me a punishing conformity to live and act the same.
You get a spark of inspiration so nothing else matters.  There is a natural feeling to it when it comes.  You read the words that speaks to your heart. The muffled Lord vernacular that carries you down those deserted roads to ancient ruins where the beginning of our story is told.
So, I ventured out to get an informed view of the world. My own odyssey prevailed to guide me that became an unknown swirl.  I disentangled the lies that veiled the Truth, and deciphered the ancient wisdom that illuminated my youth.
This was the standard to live by, chaos at every turn.  Unlike everyone else, things stuck with me, especially the ones with wounds I cared for, being human for all it was worth.
High drama makes demands on us,  so the narrative related remains intense. Dramatic encounters were sought as a test, to set me apart from the herd.
Then there are allegories from the prophets that came along. You tolerate their belligerence, as they all react differently to the same situations expecting pay, that's a fact.  Make it plain and understandable, that's all I say.
The tapestry of history carved in cryptic sacred imagery within temples and shrines.
A catastrophic storm came along one day.   Some were lead to God.  Hindu myths, Greek deities, the coronations of anointed the kings were all left to bespeak.
High brow or low brow, they wrote the embodiment of their affidavits upon their Souls. As we were left to interpret whatever they meant, the words were just paradoxes that abandoned us by evening in a pouring rain that wouldn't relent, the chimes of golden bowls rung the toll.
The path of my purpose as savant of encrypted prophecy is based on the Tetractys of divine power.
That theme works its way into my day, today.  I see the Oneness of archetypal powers, my tablet of enlightenment points to the Golden Ratio, the exact science.
Once I was an innocent youth.  Then the war of horror stories emerged.  It gives you concern for others, this I learned.
Once upon a time I had big dreams, loving life, now it is being shot to pieces.  Falling rain, muddy roads, pandemics, all life is breaking down all around you, but I have the foundation of the Universe built within my solitude.
Warfare has no limits. No matter how it is defined.  Birds perched on the cadavers, paying it no mind.  Nothing else is possible. Merciless attacks prevail.  Open your heart to being turned into an adversary of that morality of humanity and you'll see yourself in hell.
All those power grabbers, stinking up your nostrils, in the trenches of their torture chambers of riches, they refuse to be accountable by throwing curses down your well.
Yesterday I tried to save a wounded dog. You have to finish the job, like a Roman soldier and be careful of those Germanic girls, I wasn't myself, this I could tell.
There can just be a miscalculated equation that skews the mind; we call it an anomaly all the time.  Put the historical legends of war tablets down that lavish discourse of fallen heroes.  Lyrics that spin an epic tale like a Greek mythological, Hermetical awareness.
I once read about warfare making heroes,  but their underworld ain't talking to me now.  I got good common sense, you see, in case they were cursed to come after me as ghosts in the night.
I learned to protect myself with spell-crafting incantations from bohemian wizards, shamans and the like. Resurrect the Spirit Angels from cosmic dust through chaos protocols that reflect the Light.
Metaphysical aliens are an optical aberration in the Third Dimension, but when flooded with DMT, hold on to your true nature sense of self.  Nature abounds in molecular orbs spinning in fluctuations around electromagnetic frequencies, photons and protons, the Milky Way of star-studded energy passes through you.
You realize, you physical form is transparent, as only the essence of your spirit enlightens one to the divine flow of life’s other language, a cypher coded symbolic portal of ancestral interpretations, now you understand the origin our existence upon the Blue Planet..
The long journey home, it was full of pitfalls and dangers from trouble makers I recall.  This could make me deranged if not for the other means of meeting interesting people who explained it all.
So you ain't talking to me unless you use kind words.  Otherwise, it's futile, I won't hear your terms.
The ballads of hating words, left to wonder while such close calls from spitting vitriol verbal bullets zipped past my ears. Treachery swarms all around this world, that was all I came to know over the years. People exist in their beliefs out of fear.
You're given two paths to choose from in the trenches of the life and both are doomed to fulfill their destiny, regardless of your flight.
Some gods and goddesses want to protect you, while others want to infest you with plague and gloom.  There is a way to overcome this archaism, I thought to myself, sequestrated in solitude, in my throne room.
I recalled I shared my bed with the wrong woman once, that angered the people I shouldn't have done. Something to remember, don't get into a mess, it can't be undone.
The wind blew across the desert plain when I returned to my realm, finding that misfit rivalries, those cagey squatters have moved in causing my betrothed goddess' skin to grow thousands of rose thorns.
But the misfits fled, forever banished when I charged the sky with a thunderous scornful damnation rage.  When the real life feud fell quiet, my goddess' thorns fell away. She embraced me with loving heart as rose petals fell from the heavens, whispering My freedom fighter has thus slayed.
I told her of all my adventures, adorned her with artifacts and rare coins from places and cultures distant and far,  before I settled down into a deep sleep, with Angels all around.
So if the story moves you, evokes your Soul to emerge, that's all that's important, these are just wyrds.
What does it all mean makes no difference to me. For everyone else has their own perceptions projected upon thee.
Beliefs and Duality is the trappings of death. Everyone has their own projection, an image of perception that they think they must protect.
Yet, this tale of chaos inflicted upon the rational mind, has just influenced your subconscious to join with mine.
You’ll see the angels around you when death is near.
Now, put this on a shelf, and forget you ever read it.
The magical wonders of Life are about to happen to you, as they have for me, for we another of ourselves.

RPDR S10E01 - “Tens, tens, tens across the board!”
Have you seen the first episode of Season 10 of Drag Race yet? It was so fucking good! We were served a great mix of queens, lots of Easter eggs and a couple of surprises too! And for, I think the first time, I was totally torn on the first elimination.
Right, so to kick things off you have the entrances starting with Eureka, who was super sweet and looked great in her feathery Phoenix look and I did like her during her brief spell on Season 9. So that’s the one queen we knew was there coming out the gate.
I’m going to do this recap from memory so i might butcher some of these names or forget some stuff (and some queens) but this is a “total rucall” of the episode based on my initial impressions.
Tumblr media
Monet XChange, I had seen some activity with her on social media leading up to the season because she did some photoshoot with Bob. I heard a couple of interviews with Bob and Trixie as well commenting on how funny she is as well so my expectations are kind of high on this one.
And I soft of feel like I will end up loving her, she’s coming across pretty well so far. Also, that over-thought first look with the “cleaning story”, I mean she has to have a good sense of humour, right?!
Miz Cracker seems nuts in the best way imaginable. Plus, I don’t know why but out of drag boy-Cracker kind of reminds me of Tyler Joseph from 21 Pilots, tell me someone else sees it?!
I didn’t catch any footage of Cracker before the show but she’s Bob’s drag daughter, right? The hype I was seeing around her had me coming into this a bit skeptical but she is soooo likeable! And that back and forth with the judges, “cracking” Ru and the other judges up? I hope she makes Snatch Game that’s all I’m saying.
Tumblr media
A lot of New Yorkers and I’m about to embarrass myself with names, the Chicago queen came in, I want to say The Vixen?, she came in ready to fight apparently! She had a lot to say in Untucked and is clearly hoping to rustle some feathers. We’ll see girl, I don’t see a long run but I could be off base.
My order is arseways but there was the one who is Cracker’s “rival” and totally unprompted announced Season 10 was her chance to call out her nemesis. Is her name Acquaris or Aquaria? I don’t know, people seem to think she’s the shit and there seems like a potential Heather vs Boogers 2018 edition brewing as sides are taken but I didn’t get the Charisma, she’s more of an NT to me. Interested to see if she blows my mind at all but Cracker wins on the Charisma bit so far.
Oh and then there was Mayhem Miller!! She seems so humble and grateful but also there to slay!
Tumblr media
It was so sweet to see her become so emotional to get those positive critiques and then to win (oops, spoiler alert) and rightfully so with THAT LOOK!! Stunning. I get the feeling she will be an epic lip syncer as well. I know a bit about her because of an interview with Jasmine Masters who commented on how often she tried out, had to watch all her sisters get on and then nearly gave it all up only to land her spot now, she feels like a special one.
Fuck it, early prediction she makes it to Top 2.
Tumblr media
So who else did we have... Asia O’Hara seemed fun during the show, not a massive stand out but she shone in Untucked and I feel like she will be a fan favourite. Also, just to note she is absolutely beautiful out of drag.
Dusty Ray Bottoms just popped into my mind, but I had totally forgotten about her when I was thinking back over the show! Sorry girl, you just get the sense when she first comes in that she is going to be mind blowing and she just didn’t seem to feature a whole lot. I thought her look for the challenge wasn’t too special either. But I am interested to see what more she brings, I have a feeling there is more there.
Yuhua Hamasaki (you can bet your ass I Googled that one) came in looking very quite with her seamstress skills. Another very chill, laid back personality so far but I am interested to see where she excels as I’m not 100% on this one yet.
Monique Heart, she didn’t make a huge impact either thought I did kind of love that plastic wig she wouldn’t stop harping on about! She’s got lots of fight in her, I think she will probably land in the middle a lot, get annoyed and go home mid way through. Prove me wrong!
I just realised one of the best things about this episode is that it seems like they have gotten a really great mix of personalities but no one appears to be too extra.
Yet.
Back to the show, Kalorie Kardashian Williams, is that one right? I really liked her, I thought she seemed really cute, fun and a bit feisty. Could she end up annoying me? Yes. But she did perform the hell out of that lip sync!
And it was versus Vanessa Vanji Mateo! Awwww, she is fucking adorable! I don’t mind that Kalorie stayed, I’m not mad at that. But it is genuinely one of the first times the Episode One bottom 2 were actually 2 Queens that I really liked and wasn’t ready to see go!
Am I missing some one? I feel like I am... Oh Cameron Michael? The one they all are obsessed with out of Drag! Her didn’t really make any noticeable impact for me. I did get a chance to really see her face in Untucked and with that make up she was stunning but I don’t know if she’s going to be one of the exciting ones!
I was delighted to see the design challenge for the first episode, such a great crafty throw back. The hour long episode was great and I hope they run it for the entire season because I think that was a major part of the issue with the production of AS3... But that’s an entirely different story.
Some great looks in the challenge, some not so great. Oh I’ve just realised a queen I missed! Blair St.Clair! Fresh off the boat, she came in a little meek and I had kind of written her off for the first quarter of the show.
Tumblr media
I thought she was going to be a bit blah, a bit niche “broadway/old Hollywood” - kind of seen it before but done better - kind of girl. But then she hit the runway in that dark wig and with a decent look and she made me sit up. You always got to watch the quiet ones! I’m thinking she is a potential Top 4, just don’t quote me on that yet! She could be the black horse of the competition.
I was a bit confused when the safe girls had to stand at the back of the room for the critiques and then I was duped by RuPaul. Look, I’m not proud of falling for it but I had totally forgotten that Xtina was supposed to be a judge OK?!
Love Christina, I have zero shame in still crying to Beautiful and having Fighter and Dirrty on more than one Spotify playlist. That woman has serious pipes. I loved how gagged the girls seemed it was so sweet and Xtina seemed like a really great sport.
All in all, Episode 1 of Season 10 was a fun way to kick off the show and a true celebration of the legacy of RPDR. Even the production didn’t seem mind-numbing or too forced. I think you just can’t capture all the magic of this show in 30-40 mins. You have to give them all a real chance to shine!
When Mayhem was in the top with Cracker, I had forgotten we were Lip Syncing for their life instead of legacy, but there you have it. Kalorie did slay the performance though, when she made it rain it was just a clever move. Also, after a lot of lack luster lip syncs in Season 9 I am excited and hopeful that this first one is an indication of whats to come.
So Season 10 Episode 1 gets Tens, Tens, Tens across the board from me! Fierce Queens, a ton of talent and lots of self referential throw backs, it felt like a real celebration and all the cameos from the past faves - It felt fun again!
I’m bracing myself for a great season - what do you think? Who are you seeing as a potential winner? Who stood out to you? Please don’t spill any actual rumoured T to me, I am not here for it.

hello it’s @hellenic-polytheism but on anon because that’s a side blog lmao. i came here for the color ask meme, and i am asking yellow! (also wow i love your selene drawing slay me pls)
AAAA THANK YOU @hellenic-polytheism iLY 💗
“yellow: if you could have any view from your bedroom window what would you choose? what’s your favorite thing to do on a sunny day? what do you consider lucky? what made you smile today? what makes you happy?”
If I could have any view from my bedroom window, it would definitely either be some sort of garden like Claude Monet’s, or the vintage feel of cobblestone streets and canal’s of a place like Venice! My favorite thing to do on a sunny day is probably just to simply be outside, absorbing that warmth - I also love seeing the morning light shine through my blinds! I consider someone to be lucky if they have good friends and a family that loves them unconditionally. As for things that I have made me smile today, it’s still the morning! But, I did stay with until 3 am (technically this morning) watching JJBA with one of my best friends, I was smiling and laughing a lot! There are so many things that make me happy, my friends, family, and pets includes. Outside of that, I love art, my craft/worship, literature, and music! I play the piano, bass guitar, and the accordion. I love doing makeup! I’m also an animation student - cartoons/anime are super duper important to me, and have always made me so happy! I also collect antiques, vintage things have always made me feel good as well! 💕Thanks for the ask!! 💞✨

Famous Broadway wig and hair stylist Marty Thomas maintains his super-popular weekly revue DIVA at Industry, where he and a cast of female singers and special guests cover the best in pop and showtunes. This year he also started hosting an open mic night at Rise Bar, and he continues to do it all despite a debilitating leg injury he received this year.
 99)  DJ Amber Valentine
Tumblr media
Whether she’s spinning for the ladies at her weekly party “Misster” at Brooklyn’s The Woods or at Henrietta Hudson in the West Village, or she’s dropping the beats for mixed crowds like in Deryck Todd’s STRUT, this veteran DJ brings a downtown chic wherever she goes.
98)  Alotta McGriddles
Tumblr media
One of Brooklyn’s most outspoken queens is also one of the borough’s busiest. With her Alotta Stuff hand-picked vintage collection she sells from her home bar Metropolitan, her loooong-running monthly Alotta Stuff Auction she co-hosts with Thorgy Thor or Acid Betty, her weekly trivia night at Metropolitan, her monthly charity show for Gays Against Guns in the West Village’s Rockbar and her new monthly pairing with Ari Kiki at Phoenix, there are a lot of places to catch this larger-than-life, unfiltered fashionista.
97)  Nowhere Bar
Tumblr media
The East Village’s friendly neighborhood bar for smart people, featuring rotating and pop-up events both fabulous and kinky, weekly gogo boys cut from a manlier mold, and an eclectic roster of DJs. One highlight: DJ Sean McMahill’s monthly “Fire in the Hole” ginger worshipfest.
96)  Boudoir LeFleur
Tumblr media
It’s rare that a virtually unknown young drag queen wins a coveted summer residency at Fire Island’s Cherry’s on the Bay, and then goes on to win Miss Cherry’s 2017 after that, but… hello, Boudoir! She owes a lot of that to luck and timing, but no one can deny that her combination of Vaudeville Jezebel fashions and gypsy magic stage presence bring something very unique and fresh to the Dragisphere. See her Mondays at Icon, and check out her occasional pairing with Kimmi Moore as killer drag duo The Assassins… actual sparks fly!
95)  DJ Scotty Rox
Tumblr media
A favorite drag show DJ with a decade-plus career in the biz (GLAM-nominated again this year), you can also find him spinning a few dance parties these days at venues like the Ritz, Atlas and Alibi uptown.
94)  Ritzy Bitz
Tumblr media
After winning both Miss West End in 2016 and Cunt of the Year at the last SLAM Awards, it was becoming obvious that Little Miss Bitz was about to Arrive. Now with a long-running brunch show at La Pulperia and another solo show at Vodka Soda / Bottoms Up (both in HK), a stint with Shequida this past summer at the Pines, and a new role in the “Bad Bitch Review” ensemble at Rebar, NY’s most athletic queen has officially leapt to stardom.
93)  Boy Radio
Tumblr media
The Deep End bartender is an accomplished musician who’s music is even more sexy, stylish and soulful than his personage. Check his YouTube for a pretty solid offering of tracks and videos he dropped this year.
92)  Kareem McJagger
Tumblr media
Whether he’s performing an original song parody in full on drag at Boots & Saddle’s GLOW Saturdays, pouring you a drink at The Cock’s Playpen Mondays while nearly naked, or doing any number of amazing things somehwere in between, this performer embodies the cool of NYC nightlife. And now you can see him “werk” on his new monthly party at Rebar, Flash (Me) Fridays.
91)  Get Out Magazine
Tumblr media
The last “rag” (that’s a term of endearment) on the rack in every gay bar in the city, there are inevitable rumors that in the Age of Screens, editor Mike Todd’s Get Out is about to live up to its namesake. Let’s hope that’s not true. Blogs and apps are great, but absolutely nothing compares to the beauty and solidity of a printed, bound magazine, with beautiful sexy pictures you can touch. As for nightlife subjects themselves, of course they’d rather see their pics and interviews in print then on a screen. Who wouldn’t? The GLAMS voters, at least, have given special props to the staff of Get Out this year: Eileen Shapiro, their spirited on-the-spot interviewer, got her very first Best Writer nom, as did a more recent staff edition, the always-nearly-naked columnist Ian-Michael Bergeron.
90)  Amber Martin
Tumblr media
Here’s a multi-talented artist who’s learned to always keep it fresh and varied during her long tenure in NYC nightlife. Whether she’s spinning vinyl monthly at Julius’ popular “Mattachine” with John Cameron Mitchell, or crooning “elevator music” for her new Club Cumming residency, or rocking out a rendition of “Rhiannon” on the Irving Plaza stage for “Night of 1000 Stevies,” or bartending for her own variety show “The Amber Zone” at Sid Gold’s, or DJing darker stuff in character as part of the “Witch Camp” multimedia experience, or donning Reba drag for a holiday showcase at Stonewall, or recording an album of original songs… we live to go adrift in Amber’s waves.
89)  The Urban Bear
Tumblr media
Robert Valin’s party conglomerate continues to provide a quality forum for the larger and the hairier to frolic. And with the “body positivity” movement on the rise, the definition of “beardom” is becoming more diverse… so the more the merrier. The Urban Bear Weekend is a major destination for the movement, and gets larger every year. Also, check out the monthly UB party at Rockbar.
88)   Jada Valenciaga
Tumblr media
The living image and textbook definition of what it means to be a fierce queen, Jada is kind to everyone but takes shit from no one. And with dancing and costume and face and personality, she is at 1000% all the time. Adding much needed color (in every sense) to the largely white cast of the Fusion TV drag reality show Shade: Queens of NYC, she also gigs all over town – notably the Voss Events Sunday Dag Brunch at the Highline Ballroom and “Gurlesque” at Barracuda. And have you seen her lovely new music video, or her angry meme face that came out of a now-notorious Shade press event? My only request: when can we see Solo Weekly Jada????
87)  Switch n’ Play
Tumblr media
This large troupe of drag kings and burlesquers has been at it for so long, none of the original members are left. But that just means that its performers continue to evolve and redefine themselves – one trait that helped get them a Brooklyn Nightlife Award this year. See their monthly residency at Branded Saloon, and discover for yourself what makes this outfit special.
86)  Shuga Cain
Tumblr media
Being nice and professional in this biz goes a long way; having a flawless lip sync, colorful looks and an infectious stage presence on top of all that makes you a candidate for Goddess. Just ask Shuga! She exploded in 2017, and now you can find her hosting a solo show at Hardware and co-hosting another with sister JanSport at Pieces, plus turning it with the Voss Drag Brunch girls and hostng a new party at Atlas. And she bakes!
85)  Therapy Bar
Tumblr media
If you hate Hell’s Kitchen, you’ll probably really hate Therapy Bar at first glance. It runs like an upscale restaurant, and there’s an air of plasticity that only the imperfect can smell. But when you get over all that you’ll find a nice bar staff, good food, reasonably priced drinks and some of the best drag shows in the city – including Paige Turner’s “Slurp,” and “The Help” starring Pixie Aventura and Monet X Change. Also, Marti Gould Cummings’ “Stage Fright” talk show gets legit celebrities to come by.
84)  Nedra Belle
Tumblr media
We’ve almost gotten used to the thrill of seeing our queens compete on RuPaul’s Drag Race, which is a hugely popular yet still-fringe show. So when Nedra’s alter ego Chris Weaver got on Jennifer Hudson’s team on The Voice, it was a lot. And then when she came back for the finale as Nedra to perform with Stephanie’s Child and Jessie J, it was every motherfucking thing. We’re happy for her success, and happier to have her back in NYC hosting a show at Boots & Saddle and co-hosting The Ultimate Drag Pageant at the West End.
83)  The Carry Nation
Tumblr media
Legacy veteran DJs Will Automagic and Nita Aviance’s dynamic DJ duo slayed their residence at Brooklyn’s Good Room this year, drawing huge, mixed crowds month after month.
82)  Cielo
Tumblr media
The Meatpacking discotheque has one of the last moderately large dance floors in the city, and queer parties like Trade, Furball and Horse Meat Disco line up to get in on their calendar.
81)  Spunk
Tumblr media
Luis Gomez assembles the absolute sexiest guys, period. Honey Davenport hosts the parties where said sexy guys dance all around you, like Thursday night’s Monster bash and the somewhat raunchier Ice Palace version… while Holly Dae handles both the Sunday night affair at Pieces with dark booths for lap dancing and Saturdays nights at FairyTail Lounge where the Spunkers (along with guys from Adonis Lounge) just descend on you. If you’re horny and want to rub up on a guy and have lots of dollars to throw around and stick into places, get thee to a Spunk affair.
80)  The West End
Tumblr media
Way out in the wilderness of the Upper West Side, the West End’s full service cabaret stage draws a very mixed crowd of gay genre lovers and straight bypassers. Home to the Ultimate Drag Pageant and weekly and monthly drag shows as well as full-on musical productions and revues, there’s something here for everyone… if you can make it out there. Bonus: bartender Peter Dunn, who also produces a lot of the shows there, is adorbs and a sweetheart.
79)  Phil Chanel
Tumblr media
A hot new event producer and promoter who’s all over the place, its hard to know where to even begin listing. Let’s say he’s at the Monster and Rebar a lot, and Castro Bar before it closed, and all over Jersey, and at Boots & Saddle’s GLOW.  But giving off a fun vibe that makes one unsure of whether you’re a host or a guest is a good skill to have! These days you can also see him co-presenting the “Polish That Queen” drag competition at Stonewall with Kristy Blaze and DJ King Ralphy.
78)  DJ Natazu
Tumblr media
Back again at Boots & Saddle where his NY career began, this GLAM-nominated Thai trade also DJs for top queens in Therapy and Barracuda, while spinning the Thursday night dance party at Rise. Not to mention he’s Bob the Drag Queen’s chosen DJ for special out-of-town events.
77)  Deryck Todd
Tumblr media
The couture hat designer has been producing the East Village’s most scene queen heavy weekly party, STRUT at Acme, for several years now, and celebrities from nightlife and beyond come through. This year Deryck also tried out some new events at Bedlam on Avenue C.
76)  The Bars of Richie Friendley & Associates
Tumblr media
Friendley, Mickey Spillane, Jr. (son of the same-named mobster), Kurt Kalm and Scott Sternick, all of whom I believe are straight, own to varying degrees Vodka Soda Bottoms Up, Mickey Spillanes, Mr. Biggs and DBL in Hell’s Kitchen. These bars (and, from what I hear, these guys) aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but they certainly incorporate a gay business empire in HK. Two things all these properties have in common: dirt cheap drinks and cute boys behind the bar, so no complaints there. Plus, fun queens work in VSBU, like Ritzy Bitz, Adriana Trenta, Chaka Khanvict and Ally Ganza.
75)  DJ Xavier Mazara
Tumblr media
This disco nugget is DJing, like, one fourth of Manhattan’s drag shows right now, plus a few club nights. Professional and agreeable, don’t be surprised if he wins the Best DJ GLAM this year.
74)  Boots & Saddle Drag Lounge
Tumblr media
Still boasting the most drag shows per week (by far), the West Village institution is dealing with growing pains since moving to its much larger location about two years ago. And some of the apparently whackadoo business practices and staffing decisions that go down there become the talk of the town. But when it works, it works. Some of the best queens in the city still do shows there, new talent is born there every year, and regular customers remain loyal. And for the record, they now have their cutest bar staff in recent memory. Oh, and the tacos are yummy, too.
73)  Vita Summers
Tumblr media
A pageant queen who won many crowns in 2016, Miss Vita was in high demand this year, in and out of the city. She don’t rest on pretty: she’ll sing like an angel and cuss like the Devil to keep the crowd entertained. Find her these days hosting happy hour at Pieces.
72)  James Michael Avance
Tumblr media
The year’s breakout and most in-demand editorial photographer in nightlife, his colorful and dramatic shots of drag queens and other folks are all over social media.
71)   Pattaya Hart
Tumblr media
Cementing her role as a true pageant queen this year by winning two coveted crowns, Miss’d America and Miss Liberty Continental – plus a very strong showing in the Continental finals – Pattaya is still first and foremost a really entertaining showgirl. Check out her slaying dance chops as she performs with Industry’s “QUEEN” revue, or the cast of the Voss Events Sunday Drag Brunch. And for the full hosting package, there’s her Boots & Saddle show which Pattaya finally returned to this year.
 70)  Jackie Cox
Tumblr media
She won “So You Think You Can Drag All-Stars!” She produced and starred in two hit back-to-back shows at the Laurie Beechman Theatre (I Dream of Jackie and it’s sequel)! Her holiday Beechman shows with frequent collaborator Paige Turner were also hits! This is a rare queen whose gifts as a true musical comedy stage actor and writer really shine through what on first glance can be perceived as very silly, light material. Now all we need is some venue to give us a weekly dose of Jackie!
69)  Bob The Drag Queen
Tumblr media
Last year’s Drag Race winner was one of New York’s most popular and beloved queens. When Bob took her talents out of the bars and to the next level, which she was bound to do, there was a tectonic shift in nightlife as her vacant posts were filled and everybody moved up a peg. Fortunately, Bob has come through a few times this year to host special events, occasionally including the competition at Monster she created, Look Queen. And her company with Mitch Ferrino, The Only Productions, always brings the year’s most tremendous Halloween kiki spectacle in the city.
68)  Brandon Voss
Tumblr media
The journalist and event producer who made his success and fortune from NYC nightlife very rarely gets involved in life that happens at night these days. His wildly successful Voss Events drag brunches go down in five or six American cities each weekend, with each brunch gathering that city’s top roster of performing queens every week (that’s something that no mom-and-pop venue could ever hope to afford), so Voss certainly employs a lot of top NYC talent. He’s also a major sponsor for and liaison between all these venues and Drag Race. Voss is the butt of a lot of “here’s the guy who killed nightlife” jokes. But then again, Voss Events’ “Queen of the Ride” monthly booze bus, where passengers are treated to impromptu drag performances on the street as they pass, is actually a pretty cool and creative idea.
67)  Yuhua Hamasaki
Tumblr media
When this queen’s Friday night show moved from Boots & Saddle to Pieces and wound up being called “Trading Spaces,” it was the TEA of the town. After spending a chunk of time off doing important stuff in another realm, Yuhua’s now back at Pieces as well as Lucky Cheng’s, and back to designing gowns and costumes for nearly every queen in NYC, and several high profile queens beyond. 2018′s gonna be big for our gurl!
66)   Lee VaLone
Tumblr media
When a Brooklyn burlesquing drag king with an ocean of creative ideas can’t get booked as much as, say, a basic drag queen, a Brooklyn burlesquing drag king creates his own gigs. That’s what Lee has done, and there’s quite a variety of performance experiences we now have as a result. Catch VeLone hosting and guesting in shows all over the borough, but most notably Bizarre Bushwick where Lee co-hosts “Sinner’s Kit Kat Cabaret” with Vic Sin, and hosts both the “Jump Shark” monthly open stage night and the long-running and popular drag/burlesque revue “BEEF.”
65) The Ritz
Tumblr media
The Ritz on a weekend, filled to capacity on two floors with twentysomethings flailing to basic pop, is your heaven or your hell. But the place that brought us “Our Lady of Saliva” has more to offer then that scene. On Thursdays there are a happy hour bear party from Shane Tate upstairs and Morgan Royel’s late night hip hop party downstairs, plus Maddelynn Hatter and the gals of TURNt killing it Wednesday nights.
64)  Vinny Vega
Tumblr media
Nightlife’s most recognizable and reliable gogo boy has become a gogo man! He’s branching out into other aspects of the biz, like photography and party promotion. Check out the new monthly he hosts at Atlas, “Voyeur.”
63)   Miz Cracker
Tumblr media
Bob the Drag Queen’s heir apparent to the NYC Comedy Queen throne is beloved by her sisters and fans alike, and can still find the balance between being a civic-minded voice of reason and reading a bitch to filth. Catch her at Barracuda and Hardware, and now with the gals of TURNt at the Ritz. Plus, this just in: a monthly at Intermezzo in Chelsea! 2017 was good for Cracker, and 2018 is gonna be epic.
62)  Jasmine Rice LaBeija
Tumblr media
When Jasmine took to Facebook Live to call out the pageant judges and their “stunts” after not placing in Miss Stonewall a few months ago, it was a great drag tea moment where she perfectly channeled her Drag House Mother, the late Crystal LaBeija. She had a similar moment on FB Live just recently where she clapped back at reality TV show Shades: Queens of NYC co-star Paige Turner (”The Wicked Witch of Whoville”). Just BIG Tea Moments that queens are still gagging over. And if those weren’t enough, Jasmine continuously lived up to her own hype in 2017, winning Miss Liberty Continental Plus and a Miss Lady Liberty Showdown in a remarkable performance where she sang opera live with a full orchestra. And it goes without saying, she steals every scene in Shade! Catch Jasmine live at Barracuda (every two weeks on Wednesday), Pieces (Thursday), District Social and Hardware (both Sunday).
61)  Ragamuffin
Tumblr media
This creative and versatile Brooklyn queen with the trademark heavy eyes is still co-hosting one of the borough’s most popular drag shows, “Mondays on Mondays” at Macri Park (with Ruby Roo), and headlining her monthly workshop / show “Failure” at Bizarre. And now on top of an additional weekly late night Sunday gig at Metro Bar, Raga has made a Manhattan presence as well. She co-starred with Pixie Aventura at Hardware for a month, and now is part of the regular cast of Club Cummings’ Tuesday night variety show, “Mary.”
60)  FiFi DuBois
Tumblr media
A fan favorite at Boots & Saddle for a long time now (she’s their longest tenured queen at the moment), FiFi’s been serving fun, goofy numbers and jokes for awhile now. Then in just the past few years, she dipped her toes into pageantry, and by the end of this year she’s Miss’d America 2016, Miss Stonewall 2017 and Miss Boots & Saddle 2017, not to mention Top 13 in the prestigious national Continental pageant. Three cheers for FiFi!
 59) Logan Hardcore
Tumblr media
With her long-running show at Stonewall now a West Village institution, and her summer residency at the Ice Palace one of Fire Island’s biggest draws, New York drag’s favorite bitchy queen and her scarily spontaneous, unfiltered wit just keep on trucking… and evolving.
58)  Rockbar
Tumblr media
Undeniably Manhattan’s most eclectic venue. On any given night you can experience drag shows, full-on burlesque revues, standup comedy, karaoke, trivia nights, viewing parties of the gay TV shows of the moment, live rock bands, underwear parties, fetish parties, and lots and lots of bear parties. Being three or four blocks away from the main strip of Gay Christopher Street has been a hindrance, but everybody finally seems to be catching on that there’s something special happening here.
57)  Ari Kiki
Tumblr media
The city’s number one messy comedy queen with the crazy crooked lips and hairy boobs is now the house mother of the Boots & Saddle sisterhood, and the role couldn’t have gone to a nicer gal. Besides being funny AF – both deliberately, and in a “falling off the stage” sort of way – she’s just good people. See her Wednesdays and Saturdays at Boots, plus monthly hosting the RIOT benefit show at her other home bar where everybody loves her, Stonewall. Oh, and now she’s also taking the East Village by storm as well, with a monthly Saturday evening Rampage alongside Alotta McGriddles.
56) DJ 2Face
Tumblr media
Last year’s Best DJ winner at the GLAMs (and a nominee again this year) remains one of the most popular DJs in the city for drag shows and dance parties. Catch him these days at Hardware, Pieces, Rise and Vodka Soda Bottoms Up, and there’s a pretty good chance he’ll be the man behind the booth for any super high-profile kiki in the city.
55)  JanSport
Tumblr media
Last year’s breakout drag star is still this year’s breakout drag star. With a genuine musical theater pedigree, she’s gone from an amazing novelty Kris Jenner impersonator (although she still drinks regularly from the Well of K) to a well-rounded, multifaceted performer. This year she became Icon’s Friday night star, and co-hosts Wednesday night with Shuga Cain at Pieces. She’s also done a commercial for LG USA Mobile, and as a member of smash singing drag trio Stephanie’s Child she recently performed on The Voice finale with Nedra Belle and slayed on a whole new level.
54)  Amanda Lepore
Tumblr media
With NYC nightlife’s most iconic face (and body), Amanda passed into legendary status while barely uttering a word – which made her tell-all autobiography published this year that much more fascinating. On top of her hit book, Amanda of course was present at only the most amazing parties of the year, and she’s even recorded a full-length album of originals and covers that is all so very Lepore.
53) Shequida
Tumblr media
One of the city’s most seasoned and talented entertainers is still going strong as ever, with her popular Hardware solo show and the “Drag Wars” competition she hosts at Pieces, plus she hosts the Voss Events Sunday Drag Brunch. Shequida also made a triumphant return to Fire Island this summer (this time at the Pines), and brought her opera diva character Jessye Normous to the Beechman recently.
52)  Sasha Velour
Tumblr media
The recent winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race’s 9th Season represents the Brooklyn scene at it’s best… fiercely creative, intelligent, and serious, but with an exciting edge. She quickly spawned legions of inspired disciples, basic copycats and parodists (think about all of the projectors and rose petals you saw in drag this year). And fortunately she never stays away from the city too long… her “NIGHTGOWNS” shows, which bring together the best of Brooklyn nightlife and Drag Race all-stars for unusually dramatic multimedia performances, represent a whole new nightlife / theatrical experience for us to process.
51) Jeff Eason
Tumblr media
If veteran on-the-scene nightlife photographer Jeff isn’t there to snap a pic of a thing, the thing never was.

Bart Chat 5/4/2020
Well, we made it to May. I sincerely hope you’re well and wearing your mask when you go out.
As you might imagine there are no film festivals in Dallas this week. Last night, I did go to a drive in movie in Richardson. Reid Robinson, who has a bar called Brizo, has been doing these drive-in CarBarets—a film with a few live acts.  You can purchase food, enjoy a film and stay safe. I had a wonderful time. Go to Brizo on Facebook for more info.
I was trying to think about what we could do here at the VideoFest during these times and I came up with something that will start next week. I don’t have a good name for it at the moment but my working title is, Cinematic Conversations.  The idea is we ask you to watch a film on Netflix or Amazon or some other service at your leisure, and we will have a zoom chat that I moderate online. I’m still trying to think of what night to do this, so I will give you more info next week. The first film will be … The Conversation, the classic film FFC made between the Two Godfathers, which you can find on Amazon Prime Video for free if you have Prime.
So, your homework is to watch the film and next week I will have a zoom invite for you all, so we can have a nice chat.
This is a different version of something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I had this idea of doing video book clubs for Blockbuster (yes, that long ago) to put together films on the shelf, like French New Wave or the films of Capra. We’d supply a piece of writing to go along with the film, somewhere between scholarly research and newspaper reviews, with questions for the leader of the group to ask. Well, we never did this but now, we can have a virtual film club and you don’t have to feel ashamed if you didn’t read the book—you just have to watch the film.
There are theaters in the DFW area that are open, but they are drive-in with drive-in style films. If you are hungering for that experience, you can go to the Galaxy Drive-In in Ennis, The Coyote Drive-In in Fort Worth, and finally the Brazos Drive-In in Granbury.
Many of the theaters we love are streaming films. Their prices are a bit high for streaming, but they’re in-line with what it would have cost to see them in theaters and hey, you can make your own popcorn for cheap. I was wondering how much people would be willing to pay for a streamed film, so I asked that question on a Facebook post and the responses were fascinating. Yeah, I know Facebook is for old people. Well, I am sixty-six.
Anyway, here are some of my picks for streaming new cinema in your home.  Through the Angelika you can see The Booksellers, I, Claude Monet, Fantastic Fungi, Beyond the Visible: Hilma af Klint, Bacurau, Saint Francis, Once Were Brothers, Deerskin, The Roads Not Taken and Slay the Dragon (a great film about gerrymandering). Of those, I would go for Slay the Dragon, Bacurau (I love this film) and Fantastic Fungi.
Streaming at The Texas Theater site is Satantango by Bela Tarr (if you pay extra, you can see David Lowery talk about how this film influenced him) and Bull by Texan Annie Silverstein. They are also showing Relaxer, which I am not a big fan of, but this is a double feature with The Alchemist Cookbook, which I like better.
The Studio Movie Grill has some great films streaming: The Woman who Loves Giraffes, The Etruscan Smile, The Times of Bill Cunningham, Dearskin, BIT, The Booksellers, The Perfect Nanny and two films I really like, Pahokee and Capital in the 21st Century— which is an amazing film. If you’re still with me here, congrats! This is my pick of the week.  FYI, we will be talking about this film in an episode of The Fog of Truth podcast.
Have a great and safe week,
Bart

A.K.A it's 1998 again, A.K.A Richie and Cunzy's gaming tastes are so on the beaten track that there's a well worn runnel slap bang in the middle of the beaten track, the very beaten track if you like, and that's the only place we'll ever walk. Apologies to all those indies, new IPs, unique genres and innovative games we're only playing stuff we know, stuff we played already, remasters, re-releases and sequels. Looking through the games of 2019 I made myself actual chunder with how boringly quotidian our games list was going to be. We apologise to both of you in advance. IT WAS ALSO A BUMPER FUCKING YEAR FOR GAMES. It's like 1998 again. The Switch is the new PlayStation and we've not been excited for """"""new""""" releases like this for a long time. I think we picked up almost all of these on launch day and it's been a long time since a year has inspired us to do that. In no apparent order: Resident Evil 2 (Cunzy & Richie) Cunzy: You know when you want something for so long that your expectations are built up so much that the reality can never really live up to the hype. We were practically done with the Resident Evil 2 remaster or whatever you may call it before it came out. Surely, it won't be good. Well it was good and a perfect mix of nostalgia and update. There was something strangely refreshing too about a game that was done in just a few hours. It ended. You played it because you wanted to not because the daily logins or sub fees or challenges or endless levelling sucked you back in. I went through 3/4 campaigns in quick succession but have to admit barely touched all the extra stuff they added afterwards. It seemed to really strike a chord with players though who were quickly speed running and smashing the shit out of that game. Likely one I'll return to again and again over the years. Didn't include the line about "That guy's a maniac" though  so 2/10 overall. Richie: PC Mods a reminder that human beings cant have nice things: DMC V (Richie) Devil May Cry is all you could want in a Devil may cry game and more, the addition of V as a a character was amazing, ignoring the DMC Ninja other universe thing. The "plot" was "good" as good as a mindless demon slaying excuse can get. Surprisingly nice was the game had Zero monetization, "Here have a game, there are different difficulties, and a battle tower, enjoy", you can buy unlockables such as alt colours you would get if you poured several hundred hours into the game. The whole family is back and more, and also another feverent reminder that human beings cant have nice things: Tetris 99 (Cunzy) It's fucking Tetris. Excellent theme remix. Grateful for the extra modes. Despite what I just said up above in relation to Resident Evil 2, all the continued Games As A Service stuff has got me logging in to 'unlock that skin' or 'try new modes' only to re-emerge 4 hours later with sore thumbs and bloodshot eyes. Fucking great. I just wish I could get old man Richie to understand how the Tetris 99 online worked so he'd give it a fighting chance. (Richie: Tetris is not an online game, never was, it was on a gameboy and that was my last interaction with it tetris 99 is an abomination, jumping on the battle royale bandwagon) Final Fantasy VII (Richie and Cunzy)  Richie: Arguably one of the first time sinks in video games, yeas sure you can "complete" the game in 30ish hours, but If you wanna get those Ruby and Emerald Weapons killeded you need to sink waaaay more into that. Initially we were not fussed about this release but a brief ill advised soiree, into the podcast Castle super Beast got us hyped for it, even if we were just furious at one of the "presenters" having some rather pervy memories about how some of that shit when down. (Spoilers: Cloud did not do Tifa doggy style while everyone watched) Cunzy1 1: The music still gets us, unintuitively the pre-rendered backgrounds with Tekken block characters hold up today and we can play it on the go, skip random battles and take snapshots and short clips? I'll see you in 7th Heaven. Fire Emblem: Three Houses (Cunzy) Fire Emblem with Harry Potter where you're put in a position of power over rainbow-haired murderous teens? What. Could go wrong? Pokemon Sword and Shield (Cunzy and Richie)  Continuing the Pokemon domination our lives, leaving our partners ever concerned at the growing amount of time spent on it, never mind the merchandise that continues to creep into our homes. Don't even start on our search histories. In short, dexit was over-hyped. game good. WoW Classic (Richie)  Ref TGAM 2004-2008: RIP Richie's interaction with other games: Return of the Obra Dinn (Cunzy) An indie game? Yes but before you bust my chops for wearing moccasins with no socks to the community jazz jam, this is one of those games that everyone and their dog (the PC folk) was fawning over for a whole year before it got ported to a proper gaming system. I mean, they were right. It's fantastic. A glorious little self contained package of sweetness unlike anything else out there and in no need of sequelising, remixing, updating or any of that nonsense. It's one of those "if you say anything you've said too much about it" games though so just trust me. Gal Gun 2 (Nobody) Richie: What we never, no Idea what you are talking about... Cunzy1 1: What, that game where you shoot schoolgirls in the tits and biff to rid them of horny trolls and get them to calm the fuck down? Never heard of it.

GamesBeat managing editor Jason Wilson’s favorite games of 2019
Each year, it gets harder to nail down my favorite games of the past season. Part of this is because there are just so many studios putting out fantastic games. The rise of live-service games plays a role here, too — each year, the living games I enjoy seem to get better and take up more of my life. I can’t think of a better time to enjoy games, and as my compatriots at GamesBeat have shown, this year has had such an amazing amount of quality — be it on PC (my favorite platform), consoles like the PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch (portable mode is a godsend for role-playing games), or my phone. Here’re my favorite games of 2019. Note: These aren’t the games I consider to be “the best.” The most important factor is how much I enjoy playing them (and, increasingly, how much my kids enjoy watching me play them). The Outer Worlds
The Outer Worlds can be gorgeous.
Obsidian Entertainment is one of my favorite studios. It’s made three of my most-played RPGs of the past 15 years — Neverwinter Nights 2 (and its expansions), and the two Pillars of Eternity games. The Outer Worlds is different than these. You’re running around a system of planets that are at the mercy of a group of greedy, power-hungry corporations. It’s a capitalist dystopia, but it’s a funny one. And it skewers a world in which plutocrats, not people, run things. It also comes with a good character-building system, and its loading screens show off fantastic pieces of art (some of which only shows up based on your decisions). It wears its Fallout influence on its power armor (its makers include some of that landmark RPG’s creators). The Outer Worlds will also leave an important legacy for Obsidian: a fantastic finish to its run as an independent game studio. Pokémon Shield

Years ago, I wrote about how much I hated Pokémon when I tried Red, the then-new release for the Nintendo 3DS. But last year, Let’s Go: Pikachu captured my heart. I credit part of this to my children, who love the TV series and the cards. Yet the game has plenty to recommend it. It’s cheery, and the way so many of its characters are supportive of you and each other is touching in an age where so many people seek to just tear everyone and everything down. It’s also fun to find all these new Pokémon, use the Dynamaxx power to turn them into giant monsters, watch them evolve, and explore the world. My favorite part, though, had little to do with the gameplay. Every time we encountered a new Pokémon, my kids would look it up in their books, helping me find its vulnerabilities and plotting how I should set up my team. Pokémon’s better when we’re playing like this, together. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
There are fouler things than Imperial Stormtroopers in the deep places of the world.

Respawn created new worlds and characters in Jedi: Fallen Order. It nailed how I’ve long thought a Jedi should feel in a game. Using your Jedi powers and lightsabers to smash through legions of stormtroopers just feels right. Mixing in metroidvania-like levels gives players plenty of places to explore, and I enjoyed going back to different worlds in key moments of the story (like your second time on Kashyyyk). But most important, it creates a compelling, sympathetic character in the Second Sister, showing that a servant of the Sith can be more than an evil person with a lightsaber. My only quibble: I wish Respawn’s easier modes made it, well, easier to deal with some of the challenging platforming sections, not just nerfing combat. Mistover This is a fantastic spin on Darkest Dungeon and Etrian Odyssey from Krafton, a small team inside the larger Krafton Game Union group. You start in a town, recruit a party, get quests, and outfit your crew. This is where it feels like Etrian Odyssey. But in town, you open up different buildings as you accomplish quests, the first of its many Darkest Dungeon influences. Food and light play a role in the exploration as well. Once you’re in a dungeon, moving around becomes more like a traditional roguelike. For every move you make, the monsters move as well. Combat is strategic as well, as your formations and the abilities you choose matter on the battlefield. It’s a fantastic take on roguelikes, and it’s worth playing. Grindstone
Grindstone is a clever puzzler in which you slay monsters by drawing lines for your buffed-up brawler.

Capy’ Games Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes and Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery are two of my all-time favorite mobile games. So when Grindstone hit Apple Arcade earlier this year, I had to check it out. And when it debuted, I spent about 2 hours playing it. It reminds me of Clash of Heroes in how you line up enemies to slay. It’s a puzzler. You draw a line from your warrior through groups of baddies. It’s simple enough that young children can understand it, but it gets complex enough that it becomes a real challenge to accomplish every map’s goal. It’s fantastic, and I think it’s the best game on Apple Arcade. Magic: The Gathering — Arena
The Brawl decks I’ve settled on during the final day of the event.

Two years ago, I had no idea I’d love Magic. Now, I play it almost every day thanks to Arena. It’s a fantastic adaptation of the granddaddy of all collectible card games. I’ve learned to play every color, and I’ve even had success beating tuned netdecks with creations of my own. I’ve become a better-than-average draft player as well, and when publisher Wizards of the Coast introduced Brawl, I not only found myself making decks in Arena but with my growing cardboard-card collection as well. Earlier this year, Arena left its open-beta status. The game still has some problems. Most days, you’ll find someone on Reddit complaining about performance issues. Wizards’ monetization tactics are annoying — more than once now, it has introduced an idea (such as the 2-to-1 wild card crafting cost for Historic cards), then changed it after outcry from players. Right now, it’s charging 10,000 in-game gold for a month-long Brawl event, and while you do get one special card as a reward, it’s pretty much charging you to play what I and others consider to be Arena’s best format. That sucks, as Brawl should be a format we can play in a queue, not just in a friendly challenge, at any time. But despite these issues, Arena has proven to be the best way to play Magic when you can’t shuffle cards with your friends. And that’s pretty awesome. Hearthstone
There be dragons!

Year 5 of Blizzard Entertainment’s free-to-play collectible card game might be its best yet. Hearthstone’s development team has been more active this year than ever before, introducing a flurry of prompt card changes to fix problems, better in-game events, its first new mode in years (Battlegrounds, which is pretty dang good), and a willingness to try new things (like the recent Wild event or Arena rotations). It’s even telling better stories with its expansions. Like Magic, Blizzard has stumbled some this year. During its Wild event, it didn’t do anything to address the power of Evolve Shaman, which drove many players (like me) away from Standard and into other modes like Battlegrounds … or spending more time with other games. And its handling of the Hong Kong situation was clumsier than a newborn calf trying to stand up for the first time. But even with those problems, Hearthstone feels more vibrant now than any time since its first expansion. And that’s a good thing for Blizzard and its millions of players worldwide. Dragon Quest Builders 2
Even the quest lines have punny names in Dragon Quest Builders 2.

I’ve never been able to get into Minecraft. I know it’s fabulous. My kids love it. But I like a little more direction, and I get this from Square Enix’s Dragon Quest Builders series. In the sequel, you’re building your way to defeating a great evil. It’s charming, and as you finish off quests, you open up more building materials and options. It has most of the fun of a Dragon Quest game, but with a sandbox openness. It’s neat, and it’s even more fun when you play with kids. Disco Elysium
Disco Elysium is like no other RPG that came out this year … or in any recent year.
This might be the trippiest RPG I’ve ever played, and I dig it. You play a detective coming off a bender, trying to solve the mystery of a hanged man left on a tree. It doesn’t have combat, really. You face decisions in conversations you have with the characters around you (and in your head). The system revolves on skill checks in conversations and reactions to the words you and others use, not weapons, warriors, or wizards. It’s fascinating, and it developer ZA/UM delivers something I’ve rarely seen in my decades of gaming: an RPG where choice, not combat, matters the most. A Plague’s Tale: Innocence
A Plague’s Tale: Innocence is a fascinating game.
I’ve been fascinated with this game since seeing it at E3 in 2017. It’s from Asobo Studio in France, and it’s about a 15-year-old girl and her younger brother surviving during a horrible plague afflicting France. And rats. Swarms of rats. Millions and millions of rats. The pair must use stealth to escape an inquisition that’s after them … and may be at the center of the plague. It’s a terrific, terrifying story, and it has the bonus of capturing the repulsiveness rats and magnifying it into a game that both fascinates and disgusts. It’s unique. Honorable mentions Code Vein Etrian Odyssey: Nexus Iratus: Lord of the Dead Metro: Exodus MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Path of Exile Queen’s Wish: The Conqueror Slay the Spire The Surge 2
