A Cabin

The fire crackled as the door opened, letting in the cold air. A young woman with long blonde hair was rubbing her arms as she shook the snow off of her boots. Two other people came into the house after her. One was a guy wearing a black shirt and jeans. The other was a woman with a comfy sweater dress, a scarf, and gloves on.

“I can’t wait to see Carlos again! Aren’t you excited, Junpei?”

“I guess so. I mean, it has been a while since the wedding, huh?” The rings glistened in the sunlight as the door opened to a man with green eyes wearing his typical pink button-down shirt.

“Hey guys. It’s good to see you again.”

“It’s a pleasure to be here!” Akane leapt in place, her scarf flying a little. They entered the house, Junpei carrying their bags to the guest room while everyone else warmed up by the fire. A few days had passed. The weather had been pleasant as they went skiing, hiking, and ice-skating. They were preparing to go out on the last day of their vacation. “I don’t think we should go today,” Akane said, shaking her head.

“But why? It’s the last day we’re here. Shouldn’t we enjoy it?” Junpei responded.

“Is it the morphogenetic field?” Carlos exclaimed.

Akane put her hand on her chin as she paced around the living room. “Maybe. I did have a headache yesterday, and it wouldn’t surprise me if this feeling was caused by me seeing a different timeline through the morphogenetic field.”

“But what if your hunch is wrong? Wouldn’t you miss a possible day of fun?” Maria, Carlos’ younger sister, replied.

“That’s the thing. It may happen in this timeline and I don’t know it, or it may happen anyways. This is why it’s always good to be cautious.”

“Even if it means missing out on a day of fun with your best friend?”

Maria ran off and returned with some board games, puzzles, and other stuff. “Just because we can’t go outside doesn’t mean we can’t have fun.” Carlos messed up his sister’s hair as they sat down and had a good time together near the fireplace. Three hours had passed and the wind was howling outside.

“You made a good choice, Akane.”

“Thanks, Junpei.” She leaned her head on his arm as the fire cast the room in an orange, homely glow.

Sometimes people underestimate the effect Zero Escape could have on them. Right now I am watching a Fallout Let's Play by a guy who has completed the ZE trilogy before and he has referenced it three times now:

Got captured by mutants and is trying to escape his cell, while a guard is aiming at him -- "There will be a save where he draws a blank on his gun and I get to escape"

Frustrated by not being successful in escaping mutant facility -- "I will load this save and create a different history"

Hearing NPCs mention mutants and not having answer options to tell them about it, because he technically didn't meet them yet -- "Well I get to know because I've accessed the morphogenetic field"

By far the funniest thing I have watched in my life.
