you met him at a wedding. he was invited since he was in the same football team as the groom, and you were invited because the bride was your best friend since childhood. going to that wedding, you surely never thought that you’d meet the love of your life there, dressed in this beautiful navy suit, his signature smile plastered on his face at all time. you immediately noticed him, how could you not? he was insanely gorgeous but also a giant next to anyone so it was hard to not notice him.

you found him extremely attractive and your friends also agreed on that and tried to get his attention. but he gently turned them down, thanking them for the compliments and sending them away with a curt smile. when you saw that, you immediately lost hope and chose to not go to talk to him. if he rejected all your beautiful friends, why would he talk to you? of course, you were as beautiful as your friends and people were naturally drawn to you because of your sweet persona and natural charm. but it was hard to fight back all those voices in your head, telling you that he was way out of your league.

you pushed all those negative thoughts and still enjoyed your night, it was your best friend’s wedding after all. and you had a blast, you were so happy for the couple. you even had some eye contacts with yassine. midnight came and you decided that it was time for you to go home, as you were walking to the parking lot to call a taxi, you tripped over literally nothing and scratched your knee pretty badly and also broke your right shoe.

"fuck! that hurts…" you mumbled to yourself, trying to get up but failing miserably. you were so focused on cursing at yourself that you didn’t notice the very tall and handsome man standing next to you. "are you okay?" yassine asked you, kneeling in front of you, face torn with worry. you didn’t even respond to him, too surprised to have your "crush" talk to you and be so close to your face. you also mentally cringed when you realised that he probably saw you fall miserably to the ground. "you’re bleeding. is your ankle okay? can you walk?" he asked again, his fingers brushing against your ankle, making you shiver. you failed miserably at answering him again, which made you slap yourself mentally again because what was wrong with you?

yassine smiled to you and turned around so his back was now facing you. you frowned, not understanding what he was trying to do. "get on my back, i’ll carry you." he tapped his shoulder, of course he was still smiling. "no, don’t worry i can walk!" you immediately stood up, almost loosing your balance because of how fast you got up. yassine also stood up, you could see on his face that he wasn’t buying it, he had his arms crossed and that damn smile on his face. you tried to walk but almost made contact with the pavement again, yassine catching you with his arm. he put his second arm under your legs and carried you, holding your broken shoe in his left hand. "you didn’t need to do that, you know." you were so ashamed of yourself, but would lie if you said that you didn’t enjoy that moment. "i know, but i wanted to. and i wasn’t going to let you alone and injured in the dark." yassine stopped in front of a black sport car, he gently put you down and opened the car, he opened the passenger seat and helped you sit inside. 

long story short, yassine drove you home and secretly kept your broken shoe, because he wanted you to reach out to him so he could see you again. you got his number through your best friend’s husband and immediately texted him. you invited him for dinner at your place and he came with your now fixed shoe. sooner than later, you two became a couple and you couldn’t dream for a better boyfriend than yassine bono. he treated you like the princess you were, showering you with gifts and kisses every time he’d comeback from practice or a game. even if his team lost, he’d comeback to you with his huge smile and collapse on top of you on the couch. "you’re sweating." you said, almost choking under him. "liar. i took a shower." you laughed before he started to tickle you, making you almost die from laughter. he knew how much you hated tickles, but he loved the sound of your laughter and after a bad game, he needed to hear his favourite melody.

yassine was grateful to have you in his life, everyday he’d thank god to have had him play in the same team of your best friend’s future husband, so you two could attend their wedding and meet. yassine was a gentleman, always opening the door for you, always buying you flowers on your first day of period because he saw how painful those were for you, always cooking your favourite meal when he felt like you needed it. when he was away for work, yassine would always facetime you, even after tiring days, he’d never miss your call, or else he’d have a hard time sleeping well.

yassine was the sweetest human being you’ve ever met and you thanked god every day for making you fall in front of him at that wedding.

Okay I haven’t made many posts with her included (which im gonna do 😂) but I LOVE Ayako

She’s very beautiful and i think in a way that’s unconventional compared to many mangas. Curly haired female characters are really uncommon in manga, so seeing a girl like ayako was really surprising. I think her features overall make her look really realistic. Like she looks morrocan or dominican, and the fact that she’s portrayed to be canonically beautiful makes it so that her features are portrayed in a positive light

Also she’s literally the backbone of the team? Part of why Miyagi stayed for hs basketball was because she encouraged the team so well. She’s been there since before the team was good, like how akagi and kogure were. And throughout the series, she gave the boys ALOT of support. Like girl was literally the one who taught Sakuragi the basics??

Sawakita is also very different from other sports manga rivals. I mean he gets made fun of by his own team, mf cries SM. He has fangirls and I think he treats them well (shown by how he wore a t shirt one of them gifted).

He’s not a bad person either, he even helped Rukawa up when he fell down. He was very encouraging towards his teammates too when he was benched. DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH HIS PARENTS?? He’s so respectful to them, boy was out there thanking them for everything when he was drunk on a plane. Plus from his backstory, i think it shows he really loves his dad. Some yall mfs could never LMAOOO

I think his dynamic with Rukawa and Sakuragi too. He was funny asl with Sakuragi. And I like that Sawakita was part of what pushed Rukawa to improving as a player (as well as Sendoh). ALL THAT AND HES GOOD LOOKING???

His appearance had a big glow up through the series too. People like rukawa were always drawn as good looking ecen in the beginning but sendoh was drawn to be ugly?? Like he did NOT look good. But towards the end of the series, dude was honestly stunning asl. Like he needs to put me on to whoever threaded his eyebrows

Honestly he seems like such a chill person to be friends with?? He seems so open minded, i fr cant see him as the type to judge anybody or treat anybody badly. I think at his school everyone likes him for how down to earth he is (and his looks LOLLL)

Along the quiet seaside harbor lies a small café ran by a single man with a smile on his face and love in his delicious creations.

/Yep, this is the rewrite/

The afternoon sun shone through the glass windows, the salty breeze from the ocean flowing through the streets of the seaside harbor, mixing in with the scent of freshly brewed coffee within the small cafe situated within.

The owner sits behind the counter lined with various sweets and treats, his eyes glued to a book in his hands, a smile on his face as he turned a page, his favorite drink sitting idly nearby. 

The clock on the wall ticked by as the sun moved across the blue sky, now turned a mellow orange. The owner still sat behind the counter, his drink now empty but the smile on his face stayed as he turned yet another page.

Outside his little cafe stood a heavily dressed man, his white coat flowing against the salty ocean breeze, tinted glasses sitting atop his nose, and a mask covering the rest of his face. 

Looking down at his phone before looking back up at the cafe, he peered through the glass and then promptly walked inside.

Pushing the door in, he was greeted by the jingle of the bells hanging atop the doorframe and the strong scent of coffee penetrating his mask. The tables were empty but the place still felt warm. 

His eyes wandered around the cozy interior until landing on the man behind the counter, his book now lowered as he warmly smiled and welcomed the newcomer; “Hello, What can I get for ‘ya?” 

Looking down at the sweets on display and their respective prices, the customer  glanced back up at the man behind the counter “Any recommendations?” drumming his fingers against the wooden surface, the owner hummed before answering  “What about a cheesecake?” 

Shrugging, he replied; “Sure, I’ll take a slice” as he fished out a wallet from one of his coat pockets whilst the owner turned around to grab a slice from the fridge behind him “Are you taking this out?” “Ah, yeah” he responded while placing the cash on the counter.

Placing the cheesecake on a box with the cafe logo on it, he handed it to the masked man and promptly smiled, “Have a great rest of your day, Good Sir”, with a nod, the mystery man ducked out of the door and into the harbor.

“What an interesting man..” Y/n said as he started wiping down the empty tables.

Night has fallen and walking through the common room door of the Valorant Protocol is no other than the infamous Morrocan Information broker Codenammed Cypher. His usual full-faced grey mask on his face, but is surprisingly wearing something more casual, and on his hand is a white small white box.

Entering the dining area, he was met with the team’s white-haired Korean wind assassin, Jett, her blue eyes sparkling as they caught on the box her friend was carrying. “Did you finally go to the cafe I told you about?” sighing, Cypher replied as he placed the box on the table and grabbed a plate and fork, “Yes, yes, now calm down and don’t even try to snag it away”

“Daww, no fair” Jett pouted before taking another sip from her mug of coffee. “I only bought a slice anyways,” he said whilst sitting down and opening the box “Cheesecake!” 

Chuckling, he lifted a fraction of his mask to reveal his mouth before taking a forkful and eating it, if Jett wasn’t here, he would’ve moaned at the delicious taste that coated his tongue, already regretting his decision of only buying himself a slice whilst Jett could only stare in envy beside him. 

“I have to get more of this” he whispered to himself as he looked down at the empty plate in front of him, the room was silent as Jett had left after he had reprimanded her for the third time and caught her trying to take a bite.

After washing the plate and utensils he used, he went back into his own room, tinkering away into the late hours of the night.

I don't know that much about Marlene still, I've only read a few runs of Moon Knight up to now. She was in one of them but she didn't do anything while Jean-Paul and Gina broke Marc out of the asylum ?

It's unfortunate that her role seems to be only 'the love interest' for most of the comics. Even though she could've become somewhat like Layla. Apparently she also keeps calling them Steven no matter who is fronting? That's hm not great.

The creative team of the show made such a great choice to create Layla and put her instead of Marlene. They also made a prefect mash-up of comic canon for her too! Just like I love them!

It also gave much needed egyptian representation. For a hero with a lore so centered on ancient Egypt there's a sore lack of egyptian characters in Moon Knight (the egyptian gods don't count).

Making Marlene & her dad French made some sense with the colonial reality of early archeological research in Egypt, but making the archeologists actual egyptian scholars was a great update! Showing that Egyptians can be proud and interested by their past too! [Little tangent here, but being a paleontology nerd too, it reminded me of Dr. Nizar Ibrahim who is Morrocan-german and specialized in spinosaurus research, a North African dino! He discovered the most complete Spinosaurus fossil in Morroco in 2013. His local knowledge really helped them find the dig site.]

I like also that they still took what was interesting from Marlene's character and gave it to Layla, while making her more capable and interesting.

Layla still has a very similar backstory to Marlene, with her dad being a mash-up of Marlene's dad and the Scarlet Scarab (great idea!) (The Scarlet Scarab is even called Abdul Faoul in the comics, they just tweaked his name to be a more accurate egyptian name). They only had her not present on that fated day for added drama. And still she ends up doing more 'Indiana Jones' stuff than Marlene ever did.

While not French anymore, Layla seems to know French very well (she had no discernable accent in the one French line she spoke lol). I liked that nod. And it made me wonder about her backstory. Was her mom Algerian/Morrocan? Or did her parents sent her to an egyptian Collège Français ? Or was it just an interest like Steven's?

Also really great that she became an updated version of the Scarlet Scarab !

And of course, May Calamawy is waaaaay prettier than any whitebread woman.

She's also a very talented actress and her chemistry with Oscar was felt through the screen!

Read your post about France nt being a team over a prominent player overshadowing the rest of the team, and you're correct. Not only do multiple team members from the France nt trend whenever they play, whether or not they've scored, the way they play is evidently more on showing up as a team than directing the ball or goal scoring opportunities to the prominent player. There's a recent game Argentina played where a player had the opportunity to score, but let Messi go around him from the other side of him just to score. The commentators on my feed said it contributed to Messi's campaign for the golden boot, and it made me wonder why the boot was more important than a teammate scoring when the opportunity arose. Mbappe and Rabiot seem to have learned from the group stages, where they missed many opportunities for the team to score because they were insistent on scoring. And since the knockout stages, France have been more cohesive in their teamwork over many of the other teams. Like, Morocco made them work, cause their own teamwork is also strong. Hopefully, they manage to maintain the teamwork even with this convenient 'viral illness' affecting some of the players, and they get that back-to-back.

Thank you anon for expressing so eloquently what my previous post just touched upon ! Mbappe particularly did get better at this. The last goal against Morocco was the Perfect illustration of it. He did the grunt work against Morrocan defensers but the second he saw the opportunity for another player to score he passed the goal even if this player stayed on the bench for most of the world cup.

Watching french nt play is like watching Someone play fifa. It seems as if every single player is controled by the same person. They act as if they were a single organism.
