Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries for #moviemonday After World War I, Miss Phryne Fisher has soared to an unexpected inheritance while others have fallen. Set in 1920s Melbourne, Australia, Miss Fisher uses her newfound wealth to enjoy life to the fullest, all the while investigating gruesome murders and inexplicable crimes that occur. Sometimes while she's in the same building, others that people search her out to solve as she becomes known as the 'lady detective'. Phryne has a wit and charm about her that absolutely beguiling, especially when Inspector Jack Robinson is around. There's a chemistry between their characters that has literally made me yell at the TV for them to kiss already 😅 Dot and Hugh are sweet, Mr. Butler is an asset beyond compare (and does comedy well), and Cecil and Bert always seem to get roped into odd scenarios. I've truly enjoyed watching this show. It's oddly lighthearted for something involving murder and the whodunnit aspect is fun. Also, despite the fact I would never wear it, I am extremely jealous of Miss Fisher's wardrobe. NO MAN IS AN ISLAND (1962) is based on the true story of U.S. Navy radioman George Ray Tweed who managed to evade capture for almost three years after the Japanese invaded Guam. Tweed was able to signal U.S. ships and share intel he gathered on Japanese defenses. Tweed was rescued by USS McCall in 1944, returning to Guam in 1946 to thank all the local Chamorro people who had helped him. He died in a car accident in 1989. #

This is Halloween~ Pumpkins scream in the dead of night~.
It's that time of the year again! Isn't it just OH, so exciting! If you've been here a while, you might know how much I LOVE holidays ♡ And Halloween, of course, holds a special place in my heart. Wouldn't be able to tell you why, but it's always with great joy that I spend october, and especially the last week, preparing, decorating, and celebrating ~.
Same as last year, to get in the mood this week before the day comes, I've prepared a small list with movies to watch! Some were added to the ranking last time, classics that simply can't be left out–. And some, well, are just here to enjoy and have fun with friends at night (*^ω^)
With nothing else to say, I hope you enjoy this year's selection!
Monday 23rd

It is not a Halloween movie night if there's not at least ONE Scream movie in there. That's it. That's everything there is to say. Ah, how do you even explain this franchise? To this day, it remains a must watch for any and all horror lovers. There is no further discussion about it. I'm taking the holiday as an excuse! Still need to watch the new drop. So do the same, and if you haven't watched them all, make yourself a favor and sit through them tonight!

It's the hand. It will ALWAYS be the hand. Picture this, you're watching a terribly gore-y, comical horror movie. You can't get past the 1st person POV of the evil spirit sprinting through the woods, trying to take the movie seriously as it's so old. And then, to top it off, a possessed hand wants to end its former owner's life. That's all you need to know to understand why this is here. A comic, a computer game, a movie, a tv show, and a musical. That's the cultural impact of The Evil Dead!

Lets be honest for once. There's only one good Paranormal Activity movie, and that's simply the first one. Maybe it was the fear it induced, the novelty of the idea and the filmmaking, or simply the fact it made it seem like such an ordinary occurrence, like it could happen to you at any time. But it is, undoubtedly, an axiety inducing, terrifying movie. And I am more than convinced it deserves a little spot in todays list.

Did I pick your favorite movie, or did I miss it? It's always so hard picking so little movies to share and have fun with for these dates! Never know if I want to keep the list old school, modern, psychological, or bloody! Regardless, this is the list I'm going with myself! A bit of everything, I reckon, and I know I'll enjoy it.

Shrek for #moviemonday Shrek is one of those childhood movies I have a lot of fond memories of. Rewatching it as an adult after seeing newer progressions in animation - even in the sequels for Shrek itself - made it very obvious just how stilted this movie is. At the time, it wasn't as noticeable or I just didn't pay attention as a kid 😅 Shrek is an ogre who lives in a swamp on his own. That is until Lord Farquaad rounds up every fairytale creature and evicts them to Shrek's swamp. Lord Farquaad promises to give Shrek his swamp back if he'll rescue Princess Fiona and bring her to him. Donkey, a talking donkey, goes with Shrek for the adventure. I actually forgot a couple of scenes - Monsieur Hood and his merry men, for one - and it's still as fun now to pick out the movie references (Babe, the Matrix, pro-wrestling) as it was when I was younger 😄 also, Shrek is very green; I feel like his colouring was toned down in later movies 💚 8/10 with an extra point for nostalgia, though I probably would've given it more points overall as a child 🤷 #shrek #moviereview #movierewatch #dreamworks #familymovie https://www.instagram.com/p/Cpa_RNuSjSJ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
