Something I find interesting is that Bad always has always played a bit of the fool when the Federation is involved. He pretends he doesn't understand things, he pretends furniture is enough to distract him from anything (sometimes it does, but other times he is clearly playing it up), he says he doesn't know how he got into this secret room, etc. He stays as neutral as possible without siding with them.

And for a while that seems to work. They keep using furniture to distract him. They never punish him even when he shows up in a Federation building, because he's just a silly guy and doesn't know how he got here.

But... Someone at the Federation has noticed. And the reason we can know this is because of the survey and the reward.

A lot of people have been given tasks recently, and they have all received the rewards that were offered to them. Everyone except Bad, who got scammed out of his initial reward and instead given a lot of furniture.

BUT! The fact that he was offered the question as a reward in the first place says a lot. It says the Federation knew that it needed to offer him a reward that would be enough to entice him to do the task (like the trident for Philza, and spawn eggs for Forever, etc.), and what reward did they deem suitable for BadBoyHalo? Answers. Answers to absolutely ANYTHING he could ask them.

It was an insane reward to offer, completely disproportionate to the task that was being requested of him. But apparently this was the only reward the lower case Cucurucho, Osito Bimbo, calculated would be enough to motivate Bad to do a task for him. It had to offer something INSANE to convince Bad to work for the Federation.

When he was given the furniture, the book that apologised for the confusion was in upper case. The original Cucurucho saw what was offered and pulled back, going with it's old reliable technique of distracting him with nice furniture instead. After all, Bad is silly, Bad is gullible, give him some shiny furniture and he'll give up on anything.

But that means... Osito Bimbo has not fallen for Bad's ruse. Osito Bimbo didn't even consider offering furniture - the offer was an answer to any question, because Osito Bimbo calculated that was the reward that would get Bad to cooperate.

Just interesting what this could be saying about the Cucuruchos and how they view Bad differently...

are you planning to do a species survey for qsmp when they add more members or was that just a dsmp thing ? just curious :]

yes actually! the reason i haven’t done it yet isn’t because of lack of members, but more due to how relatively new the server is! by the time i ran the first edition of the dsmp one, the server had been running for a good while, meaning there were a lot of different headcanons, interpretations, etc of every character. since the qsmp is much newer, and a munch of streamers are just now getting mcyt-ified and hybrid-ified, i felt it’d be best to let things simmer for a while to get the Full Range of possibilities. to me, running it now feels like the equivalent of running the dsmp one before the election arc. we didn’t even have goat!tubbo back then! i gotta give them some time to play in the space, yknow? especially with the fact that more people will be added, as opposed to the dsmp having been fully stagnant at the time.

until that point comes, i’ve been making sure to keep a running tab on the most common variants i’ve seen! here’s a sneak peek of what i’ve collected so far :3c

I’ve often wanted to do a survey to determine how many people out there actually like whump, but getting a proper sample has always been a problem. You’d need to reach a random group of the general population/people in fandom to ask them ‘do you like whump? (this is what it is, btw)’.

If I were to just make a tumblr post linking to a survey, the main audience would be people who follow me, a whump blog. And the post would probably spread around the whump community and it would end up looking like 100% of people are completely in favour of whump, think it’s the best thing on the planet. You’d have to find a wider fandom audience just as willing to take to time to answer your question if the answer is ‘no’ as it is ‘yes’.

But it occurs to me, thinking about it in the shower tonight, that tumblr’s Blaze feature might be great for this, as it shows your post to a random selection of tumblr users. It’s not perfect - you’d have to make it non-rebloggable so it didn’t spread into specific interest groups and bias the sample, it would only sample denizens of tumblr, who might be a bit different in their opinions on fandom to people on say, twitter, and the sort of people who are likely to click a link to a ‘do you like whump?’ survey in a Blaze post without any incentive to help would, I imagine, be biased towards pro-whump people who want to show some support to the genre.

But still, it might be worth doing at some point. And maybe I will. Or if anyone else wants to think about it, hmu, I’ve got lots of thoughts.

I really need to get better about checking and acting on my interest tracker, but that is a thing for any new (or old) blogs following me that may be interested, as it does really help me (when I remember to check it) to know who you're here for in this sea of muses. I will also usually come bother you once you fill it out so if you don't like reaching out, this is also a way of telling me you want me to reach out. I just updated it to reflect a bunch of shuffling I did with statuses and muses (and removed private muses entirely, not sure why they were on there to begin with tbh)
