The nerves rattling through me didn't seem to be affecting my stage presence. I felt like I was at my peak, everyone cheering, screaming, and headbanging with me. Everyone I loved was in the crowd except for Wayne. Steve was protecting the kids as the rowdy crowd met my energy, my sleeveless baggy band tee bouncing with all of my movements.

This was a fucking dream come true.

When I exited the stage, I ran over to my friends and allowed Robin to shield Steve and me as I stole a post-show kiss. My heart was racing, my arousal throbbing, and I could repeat the last after-party in a second's time if we could make it work.

My bandmates walked over to me and pulled me back by my shoulders, breaking our kiss. "Absolutely not, lover boy. You're going to help this time."

I flashed Steve my silliest grin before bending down to unplug and wrap all my cords. I placed my guitar in the case and helped the boys with their stuff. It didn't take too long. We moved it out to my van, safely shoving it into the back. I would be dropping it off at Gareth's place tomorrow, but for now, the boys and I were sharing a celebratory drink next to the dented mess I drove every single day.

The beers I pulled out of my cooler weren't as cold as when I put them there, but we popped the cap anyways. Enjoying our moment.

I didn't see Steve and the kids until I heard my boyfriend's silky voice. "There you are, tiger," he said.

God, I would never tire of hearing him call me that.

"My princeeee," I cooed, holding my arms out, inviting his body to collide with mine, my half-gone beer held out beyond his back.

Steve was giving me one of his best smiles, his gaze falling to my lips for too long. I wanted to kiss him and kiss him and kiss him. “Feeling good?” he asked softly, his smile not faltering.

"Invincible," I stated. "Thanks for being here." I turned to look at everyone around me, clearing my throat to get their attention. "Thank you, everyone, for supporting us tonight. You rock!" I used my pointer finger and pinky to emphasize my point, my tongue sticking out.

I kissed Steve's nose before stepping back and chugging the rest of my drink. I opened the front seat and grabbed Steve's letterman jacket. My letterman jacket. I pulled it on as the band guys told me they were leaving, the three of them squeezing into Jeff's car.

I said something about seeing them tomorrow, calling them rockstars, before I was leaning against the white metal vehicle behind us all. I observed all the smiling faces, even Max. It had to be overwhelming for her. Robin and Dustin were arguing about something. I was still buzzing from the high of the show.

"Nancy's here!" Mike said.

I gave them high-fives, head nuzzles, and side hugs until most of them were gone. I loved them so much. My chest was so full. Dustin and Will stayed back to ride with us. Sleepover at Harrington's! He was the ultimate host. Seriously.

A group of girls walked past us as Nancy's car sped off, the group freezing when our eyes met. One of them, a petite redhead with all black skin-tight clothing on, walked straight up to me, pressing her index finger into my chest. "You were amazing," she said, matter-of-fact. Her breath reeked of alcohol. Strong alcohol.

I tried to pull back some, but I was trapped between her and my van. I laughed out something uncomfortable, to ease the burning I felt in my esophagus. "Thanks, dude," I said.

"Oh..." she started, her smile evil. I shivered, but not in a good way. Not the way Steve made me shiver. "Check again," she whispered, grabbing my hand and placing it on her tit, forcing me to squeeze.

I was frozen, trying to figure out my next move. I pulled my hand away as quickly as I could manage without ruining my rep on my second show for not "appreciating my fans".

"Appreciate the sentiment, dear, but I'm happily taken."

I swallowed hard and waited for her next move. Was it to scream at me? Touch me? I would rather she scream at me. I wanted to get away from her, but her friends were on either side of her, blocking me from Steve. My friends. Could they see I needed help?
